The worst meal and the service was horrific.

Horrible treatment. Restaurant had an empty table for two and refused to seat us. Said he was closing AN HOUR AND 1/2 EARLY at 130PM. Refused to explain why. Rode the bus for 20 minutes because food pictures looked great.

After a mediocre meal and service at a touristy restaurant in old Quebec City, we came here. It was a completely different experience. The food was amazing with friendly attentive service. I ordered the Salmon on the menu of specials which I rarely do since it s often overcooked but this was perfect.

The food and service were excellent. One brilliant chef executing it all in the small open kitchen and one talented server, clearly a well oiled machine. We especially loved the buttermilk chicken dish on their lunch menu. The golden baked potato it was served on was the star of the plate. Looking forward to returning for dinner some time.

PATATE D OR is a really nice restaurant which stands out for its friendly atmosphere and its affable and intentional employees. The dishes, which not only tasted very good but were also carefully prepared, offered me a pleasant dining experience. The affordable prices make it a great option for a midday meal without breaking the bank.

I strongly advise against the restaurant La Pâte dAdor. First of all, the hygiene rules really leave something to be desired. The tables were dirty, and I even noticed that the béchamel was too peppery, making the dish difficult to enjoy. In addition, the prices charged are excessively high compared to the average, which is unjustified given the quality of the dishes and the service. The chocolate mousse, charged at $8, was really just whipped egg whites, and the portion was so small that it was barely the size of four bites. To top it all off, the waiters were particularly rude, clearly lacking professionalism and courtesy. A disappointing experience from start to finish. I wont set foot there again.

I want to give this place another star so badly, just because the staff was great, but the food just didnt do it for me. I got the Croque Monsieur. There was a spice, which I think was pepper, that Im not used to on that sandwich, and I didnt think it worked. Also, the top of the sandwich was more saucy than I like. It was just different than usual, and I didnt like the new take. It is a nice location, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was great. Another thing that was a bit off to me was that daily specials sign. There was only one, and it got moved from table to table, but a bit slowly.

While visiting the old port area in Quebec we arrived by chance at this small restaurant. We took a little break, beer and pros the cheese croquettes and the terrine everything was very good, but the homemade terrine is spectacular in quantity and especially in flavor! Congratulations to the chef. That made us come back the next day except that it s closed on Saturday lunchtime!! Really a shame, but an address not to be missed if we come back to Quebec! We had reservations for more than 2 weeks for a dinner and 2 days before the date of our dinner, we had our reservation canceled because a customer had reserved the entire restaurant... ordinary... in the old town harder to find reservations 2 days before...

We had 2 delightful dinners here when visiting Quebec City. Its just outside Old Quebec so prices are reasonable. Chef Jonathan has created a magnificent menu of gourmet French cuisine, making it a delightful step up from hamburgers and poutine! This place is his own special culinary creation, and he is a very talented chef. The photos seem from a menu previous to what we enjoyed. We highly recommend it. And do try to speak French - and Jonathan will do his best with English, as he is a native French speaker. Wheelchair accessibility: The outdoor patio is easily accessible. There is one step up into the restaurant.

Chef Tony was very gracious and friendly. His menu changes from time to time and his food is terrifically good. We tried the chicken lemon with basi, just mouth watering. We also ordered the brisket absolutely very tasteful. We had an IPA beer and for dessert, chef Tony suggested his chocolate mousse with caramel and pecan nuts. I personally don t like chocolate mouse with caramel because it so sweet but Chefs Tony is not so sweet, I finished mine. I loved it. If ever you re in Quebec, make a trip to La Patate D OR. You won t regret it at all. Bon appetit.

The brie and duck were delicious! The owner accommodated us for our dog on a rainy day. He was able to make recommendations that all turned out delicious! You can come with a large group before the dinner rush. Will come back again when in town!

Really good, run a really nice Frenchman who let us bring our dog inside and brought a bowl of water for her. The food was delicious, the Brie was amazing, the duck was something I ll be thinking about for a long time. Highly recommend.

Had a delicious meal, very intimate, accommodated 4 adults & 2 young children - The chef delivered crayons to the children, made our drinks, took our order, made our meal efficiently and served up beautifully plated entrees to us. He was delightful and artistic- he even designed the wall art which was stunning. It was our first night in Quebec City and it was a great choice, we went away pleased about our meals and the ambiance of the sweet space. It was the best choice for our hungry family, I would recommend it to anyone that looking for a comfortable dining experience. Kid-friendliness: The chef-waiter-owner delivered coloring books and crayons to our grandchildren immediately to keep them entertained. He split a meal for the 3 & 5 year old and served it up quickly- they devoured it!

A magnificent discovery when you get off the train! (The restaurant is almost opposite the Gare du Palais) Beautiful French brasserie style atmosphere, the vintage music is good and not too loud, which is very appreciated. The dishes are incredible and very affordable, especially considering the quality and care that goes into each dish. (The chef is a very friendly Frenchman who manages everything himself, from the service to the kitchen, including the bar and reception. The flank steak was tender, the fries were excellent, the tartiflette was incredible (also approved by my partner, who is French) and the tiramisu is completely worth the detour, its the best Ive eaten in my life. It was so light and fragrant without being too sweet. This is truly a restaurant to discover in Old Quebec.

Returned by chance, at the exit of the station! Great discovery! There is finesse in both the dish and the dessert. The squid was fine, tender and cooked perfectly (which is unfortunately not the case in most restaurants). Lots of flavors too! I love the food and the guy who works there...

We loved this place so much that we went twice while in Quebec City. The stuffed potatoes (or sweet potatoes) are amazing and beautiful. There is also a board of daily specials from lamb to shrimp to lasagna and my husband tried the lasagna which was also great. The caesar salad was full of shaved parmesan and bits of bacon. And the daily desserts which vary (chocolate mousse and an apple tart with pistachio topping while we were there) were super good and cheaper than desserts at other places. Quebec City has lots of restaurants but this one is something both different and reasonable with high quality food.

Definitely not the last time I go there. Dont eat too much during the day when you decide to go so you will come out full. As soon as we entered the restaurant, the owner welcomed us with a bright smile. The large menu written on the blackboard was impressive. It looked heavy, but he carried it with him every time a new customer came. (Of course, they also give you a small booklet-type menu.) The salad was really fantastic. In particular, the fried onion topping with seasoning was very delicious. I thought the big toppings covered in cheese were eggplant, but they turned out to be potatoes. I dont really like raspberries, but it went very well with the sweet and sour salad sauce. The steak was tender and came out medium rare. I melted the butter on top and ate it with the dipping sauce, and I was really satisfied. I had to walk a bit from the hotel, but I never regretted it. Next time I come to Quebec, this is a place I want to go again.

The star is the potato here. Their main meal is a huge baked potato with a choice of toppings. Quite expensive for just a potato imo. The meats were very dry. We had Pulled pork, Beef rib and the steak and all the meats were dry. Even the pretzel was dry. The fries and onion flower were delicious however.

The bus from the station to the city center wasnt coming for more than an hour, so I waited while eating on the terrace. The hors doeuvre was made with cheese and apples wrapped in spring roll wrapper and lightly fried, but it was very delicious, and the presentation with tomatoes and blueberries scattered on the greens was also wonderful! I found out that the bus was not running because it was a holiday, so the staff kindly called a taxi for me and explained the destination. Thank you

What strikes you when you enter the place is smiling and extremely kind host, who seems to be an owner and a chef as well! When you add cozy and casual climate of La patate dOr and delicious food you have a perfect place for lunch or dinner! Great restaurant! Beautiful decoration, beautiful and very good plates (crusted salmon, hot goats cheese salad, ground beef potato and fried chicken potato/Andalusian sauce/guacamole). Kind and attentive manager throughout the meal. The desserts were also very good (salted butter caramel chocolate mousse and red fruit/rhubarb panna cotta). We really enjoy this family evening at the Golden Potato. Ambient music French songs that we loved... being French Go there without any hesitation!

Staff is friendly and helpful, food is OK, and the prices were definitely better than up in the Old Town. What soured the experience for us was the eccentrically-dressed gentleman who haunts this restaurant and the one beside it. He goes to tables with young children and offers to do a funny portrait of them. I was vaguely aware of him doing so to the table next to ours, and the brief (3-4 min) job seemed designed to elicit a tip. He then came to ours and offered to do the same. So, dear, reader, I recount this story not to deter you from eating here, but rather to warn you that if this dandy asks to draw a portrait of your kid or grandchild, you can politely tell him to shove off.

This is an incredible place!! The food is phenomenal. We had the Lemon chicken with rice and it took me back to one of the most memorable meals Ive had. The dessert. Chocolate mousse was fantastic! The best garnished potatoes in town

We came across this little restaurant-bistro by chance, away from the tourist traps and crowded and sometimes overrated places on Rue St Paul. Here everything is authentic, the menu (on a slate) is limited which bodes well for the freshness of what will be served to us next. The service (the boss, the manager?) is super friendly. For wine lovers a very correct choice. We enjoyed the sublime meats served with care and cooked to perfection. Be careful, the portions are adequate! Potatoes, whatever their shape and/or cooking, are a real delight. Extraordinary value for money. We found it so good that we returned several times during our stay and tested with the same happiness the very well decorated room and the terrace where at the end of the day we are so comfortable. A word of advice: take advantage of this place quickly before word of mouth makes it inaccessible due to the inevitable crowds that will occur!

What can I say except that everything was PERFECT. The manager is adorable and warm, talks to you about his work with passion. He delighted us with his tasty homemade terrines. Plus, you can even take some home or treat friends by giving them this potted delight. Brie with honey and pecans with delicious toasted bread. The meats, whether flank steak or duck breast, cooked perfectly. And the chocolate mousse with its caramel and crunchy, caramelized pecans is a pure treat that will end your meal in style. He is alone and yet he does everything with a smile. Hats off to this work and a big thank you to you for treating us to something homemade. It was a real pleasure to discover your restaurant. I work nearby and it s my go-to every week! Nothing comparable, renewed lunch menu, very reasonable price for quality and quantity. I highly recommend this friendly restaurant.

We spied this restaurant on our first foray into QC and returned for lunch after reading reviews. I ordered a Croquette Monsieur expecting a basic grilled ham and cheese but ended up with an enormous sandwich that served as both my lunch and dinner for the day. The fries were excellent, and a neighboring table s potato bowl looked delicious. My companion s chicken salad was flavorful and satisfying as well.

Homemade dishes, excellent and served generously with - in addition - a beautiful presentation. More than reasonable prices (this is rare at the moment). The choices on the slate for the holiday season are very tempting. No reason not to go there...unless you dont like to eat Foie gras and figs/Provençal-style lamb shank/Chocolate Christmas log, black cherry.
