La Pizz Place Royale in Québec City

#LATEPOST #SEPTEMBER Hey, so we went to this place for lunch with the fam, five of us. They told us to sit, and when we ordered a large pizza, some Bolognese pasta as I remembe, the guy rudely said that each of us had to order something and that this wasnt a picnic spot. I mean, how is a five-year-old or a ten-year-old or even an old lady supposed to order a whole pizza each? This is the story of September 1st week. The dude was super rude. He should write outside the restaurant. Well, I am not a writer.. today I visited quebec again for some work and remember that incident . FyI , I was only there because of the reviews. When we open restaurants or food hubs, we promise to feed people, and those people are buying, not begging. I am also a businesswoman.. and trust me, i never do that to my client. Please remember One important line: Atithi Devo Bhava Kid-friendliness: No.. hope other love it but NOT Me.

Very good restaurant, but the dishes remain excessively small for the price. Whether for pizzas or pasta.

Thank you for these moments. The salmon lasagna with leek was a discovery, I love it. The carbonara pasta was delicious. The location of the restaurant and the service were top notch and the cuisine was also very good.

Hands down one of the best pizzas I ve had. We were serviced by Matthew and this amazing gentlemen provides exceptional service.

A very pleasant moment between pizza, duck ravioli and tiramisu. Amélie and Estelle were available and attentive to our requests. I recommend. Vegetarian options: Pizza and other dishes available without meat

Not only was the food amazing (and quick to come out) but our server Mathieu was immediately a one-man comedy show since the moment we walked in. Great, cozy atmosphere that I m excited to return to promptly!

Worst restaurant ever dont trust the good reviews. They dont deserve even 1 star .... the people that say that is good food for sure they did not eat good food ever, and they force you to tip minimum of 15%

Pizza located on the Place Royale with a small outdoor terrace and an indoor room. We had a salmon pizza and a peperins pizza. They were a little small in our opinion but well stocked and with quality ingredients. Both were excellent and we highly recommend them. The desserts were very popular and excellent too. The waiter was pleasant and shared tips on what we could visit. A very positive overall opinion and a restaurant to discover!

For a restaurant called la pizz , serving tiny frozen pizzas at high prices sucks. The homemade lemonade was very good though.

Biggest tourist trap ever. We went there for the vibe, cause the location is really good, but we ended up being seated inside, so we said fine. We ordered a pizza and it was sooo tiny, and if you know how pizza dough should tastes like, you know that this is more like a pastry more than a pizza , and it was overpriced $22 for a tiny pizza. You can get a MUCH better pizza for less price in a nearby location.

Ridiculous portion, pizza made with ready-made iga type funds, what can I say about the pasta just without knowing. Too bad because the servers are pleasant, think about investing in a new kitchen team. Thank you for your feedback but I think we dont have the same definition of homemade. I rather call it a tourist trap . A very good restaurant on the Place Royale, fresh and quality products are offered in this beautiful establishment, the pizza with crème fraîche base was delicious and the dessert too! The service was really pleasant. A very beautiful work of art on display in the dining room. I really recommend this restaurant

Overall decent Italian restaurant, even if it doesnt break four legs of a duck. The quality-price ratio holds up. The setting is pleasant. Missing something, maybe almost nothing, for it to be good.

It was our first visit to this restaurant and not the last. Their pizzas are excellent, they melt in your mouth and this is because of their homemade pizza dough recipe which is simply delicious. You are going for a walk at Place Royale, you are feeling a little hungry, I recommend this restaurant and you will not regret it .

Ideally located, but a bit of a tourist trap. I understand that its summer and that we have to go quickly but hey, 2 waiters are getting upset over a tip issue next to us. The pasta carbonara is very good, but the pizzas are mediocre. Despite their more than 35 years of experience making pizzas, they still have a lot of room for improvement. The cheese doesnt even melt on it, a meager topping, all that for almost 20 dollars . Just worthy of being sold at a gas station on the highway. I know that I am not a culinary critic and that I surely have taste buds that are too accustomed to food of less good quality than at home (a bit like the responses you give to customers who give you previous reviews) the reviews do not never please them, but make sure you listen to them when you have a business and sometimes that helps you progress. In short, try to find better if you want to eat a real and good pizza.

30 dollars for childrens size pizzas (12cm in diameter!!), with a dough that is not real pizza dough, overcooked and really not tasty. A shame for this price. To flee. Very disappointed. Missing a pizza is bad will and at this price its a scam. What a pity!

We waited 1 hour for our food (for two people) and it never arrived, there were people who arrived after us and within 15 minutes they were serving their food. We were late for our tour due to waiting and they insisted on selling us pizzas to take away. Bad experience, I dont recommend it but the service was kind.

Quite stunned by the previous comments. We are keen to have our own experience and we were not disappointed. A beautiful terrace, a nice welcome in a restaurant crowded with tourists. Its a miracle these days. Good pizza with European standard. We were really seduced by the pasta carbonara and the caprese salad. Well, my favorite is homemade tiramisu. When I read the previous comments I think that either you are used to fast food or you have taste problems. Then we are on vacation and have to appreciate everything that has offered us. Special mention to the 2 waiters Theo and Stephane for managing the crowd of tourists, all with a smile and patience.

Despite the advice of Petit Futé, I do not recommend it. Ridiculously small pizza, good but nothing more. The quantity/quality/price ratio is not there. Too bad because the location is great!

Nice discovery in Quebec, nice welcome by the young girl who walked the 100 steps to find us a nice place on the terrace on the inner courtyard side. WoW for the atmosphere was worth the 5 min wait. The Burrata and green tomatoes starter, a delight. Simple and fresh. We also tried the carbonata, the egg yolk added a little creaminess. Personally I would have made the sauce without cream but I know that people are less inclined to the traditional method. We thank Amélie for her excellent service. With a smile it always tastes better. Go there and treat yourself to a little romantic evening in Europe just a stones throw from home.

We went with my partner and my daughter to this Pizzaria, We really liked the ease of discussion with the waitress at our table, her name was Melina! , the kindness she had and listening to us. Very pleasant with our daughter despite the small age of our daughter, she managed to find a solution to each of our needs The hostess present on those days was very pleasant and attentive, quick in the kitchen We will return there without problem!

The restaurants name is La Pizza. Still, they served FROZEN dough! I was really disappointed. Its such a shame!! Carbonara is also no flavor at all. Just eatable grade. Patio seat was full. We had inside seats. So we could not enjoy the atmosphere as well. But the atmosphere is not a big deal. All day long, this restaurant is busy. Thats why we thought it must be tasty! But it wasnt! Highly NON recommend!!

Nice place, but the pizzas are not up to par in my opinion. They are small, the edges are not swollen, the spinach leaves are burnt (for my pizza).

Unfortunately we had a bad experience here with the service. After missing almost half of our order, our waitress (dark curly hair) decided the best way to proceed was to ignore us the rest of our time there. No apology or even a check-in about the food (which we did eventually receive). Im not sure if there was a miscommunication of some sort, but we were very polite and understanding the entire time. It didnt need to be a big deal. Luckily the other staff there was more helpful which I did appreciate. Personally I would avoid this place if you are not fluent in French, but overall the location is great and we did like the food. In response to owner: thank you for addressing this- much appreciated

An excellent gastronomic experience! Every time me and my girlfriend are passing through Quebec, we go there, a must for lovers of Italian pizza and yes, its a little expensive, but the impeccable service from the employees and the European atmosphere are worth it. more than worth it. PS: I would like to point out that I myself work in the catering field, so when I say that the service is impeccable, it is:)

Decided to get a quick bite on the way to pick up bikes, so we ordered pizza. It was one of the best, if not the best I ve ever had. Their pepperoni was under the cheese and it was soft and delicious (not salty). Great service, outdoor area and beautiful weather. My only regret is that we weren t there long enough to try the rest of their food.

I had seen nice reviews but I regretted eating here. Our pizza was really disappointing (more disappointing than a frozen pizza unfortunately...) and the peperoni tasted like cardboard. It bothers me a little to give a bad rating because I like to encourage local but not at $30 for a bad pizza. It was my only time here, when I see the other comments I say to myself that maybe we didnt have a chance that evening and that its usually correct? It s up to you Otherwise the interior and exterior are really beautiful. And the server was really super friendly and very efficient!

Lovely little restaurant! I came here with my family over the holidays and we couldn t have chosen anywhere better. We ordered pizzas and they were absolutely delicious. The place is really cute and warm, right in the center of Petit-Champlain, which makes it perfect for a stop for something to eat after visiting the area. We were waited on by friendly and accommodating staff. 10/10 would recommend, and hope to come back soon!

I recommend this restaurant on the Place Royale which served us quickly despite it being full. The lasagna and pesto pasta were excellent. The servers were very pleasant and knew how to advise us on our future activities. We had a great time!

The pizza was so good, we went back for more! This was along our walk from our hotel up the road. We stopped one night to grab a small pizza and it was so good, we walked back and got another small pizza. Then, the next evening, we picked up another. We normally like to visit several restaurants, but this one was convenient and very good. The service was also very good.

What an ugly place, I give it one because I cant leave it at zero, first the waiter owner has such a bad attitude! Friend, your restaurant is very bad, worse than your attitude, box pizza! Flavorless pasta!! A disgrace to Italian food. Furthermore, if you give your opinion, not only because of the food or the way we were served, the owners or the person writing tries to intimidate by talking about your life as if they knew you, talking about inferiority, complexes, education... you should not be open to People do treat the people we pay like that, because the restaurant is not free! Just imagine how we are treated for giving an opinion and imagine sitting there. A bad person, an owner writes those kinds of comments, of course I will go somewhere else except yours, we like to know and eat well, my only bad experience in Canada was with you, the rest everyone was friendly and helpful, what a big mistake to have entered to that place. Horrible service the server lady had no sense on how to talk to the customers, she had no intention of serving us. Maybe because we were the only coloured people there and at the end when we weren t happy with the service she whined about the amount we tipped her. If you can t treat people as decent human beings you can t expect people to tip she should be happy that we even tipped her a little and not show us attitude IF YOUR ARE SOMEONE OF A COLOR RACE STAY AWAY!!

Nice atmosphere. The Caprese salad was good but overpriced for the size. The bolognese was good but nothing special and the salmone pasta was edible but that s about it. Probably my least favourite Italian restaurant experience to date.

Food just ok but very poor value for money. Regarding the service, it s catastrophic! Everything is done to maximize profit: bread paid for, 15% tip obligatory for any table of 6 people or more as explicitly mentioned on the menu (simply shameful or even dishonest). Arrogant waitress (a French one, so) who demands a tip higher than what we give her and then becomes unpleasant by refusing to greet us when we leave... Sad attitude... We visited quite a few restaurants in Quebec during our stay and this is the only time we have had this inconvenience. Tipping is at the customers discretion and we obey this famous 15% rule when the service is good. What we left him was way too much compared to the service offered. Move on, there are plenty of other restaurants in old Quebec.

As usual, superb meal in good company. Looking forward to spending time with family again this summer.

Very pleasant little pizzeria with a pretty flowered terrace on Place Royale. The interior is simple but cozy. Very good salads, lasagna (We didnt taste the pizzas). We were welcomed and served by a very pleasant, smiling Océane who praised the homemade desserts that we happily tried. We came in 2019 during a previous stay in Quebec and returned with pleasure. Very good value for money. We will come back if our paths take us back to Quebec

Adorable Italian restaurant located on Place Royale. The establishment is run by a very welcoming Frenchman, the cuisine is fresh, delicious and generous and what can we say about the desserts!!! The Pizz was a great discovery. Its location is perfect for resting after an emotional day. The restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine and we were able to taste magnificent pizzas that were very crunchy and not too crusty. Our waiters were very friendly and the boss looked great. But there is still something that has not happened. First of all, whether it was the boss or our waiters, all were French. Although I love France, I thought I would taste pizzas made by real Italians in this restaurant. Those who speak with sign language and have a nice mustache. Plus there was no poutine. My unconditional love for this Mexiquois dish would have allowed for a higher rating. Finally, the very essence of Italy was missing: the Colosseum. A small Coliseum in the middle of the restaurant would not have been amiss to really feel like you are in the land of pasta and pizza. In conclusion, a very nice restaurant with charming staff but which lacks a little Italian flair. Good tasting

Walked up had a table for four ready with no wait. Service was incredible, fast, efficient and welcoming. Food was amazing to the point that the Chef gave us an extra pizza because one of the Pizzas where not up to his standards. Highly Recommend!!!!

This restaurant offers excellent pizzas and other refreshments. The staff is very nice and gave water when I sat down, I ate here with cousins who live in Quebec. Outdoor dining was full and could not accommodate 4 people. Indoor dining has somewhat hot and cold air conditioning. Restaurant atmosphere inside is bad. The staff replaced it quickly. Ive never tried salmon on pizza, its ok and the peperoni cheese pizza was amazing! Kid-friendliness: No childrens menu but child-friendly meals on the adult menu. Its a bit big.

Very friendly meal and service and congratulations to the staff for their patience with this group of Hispanic origin installed in the corner of the terrace. We didnt have the same patience and we left; They spoke extremely loudly, moved tables and umbrellas and even brought their own drinks from outside. When I see their two previous comments, I fall out of my chair, how to reverse a situation like this is indecent. I love the diversity of our country, however there is a minimum of good manners so that we can live in harmony and this group did not have it while remaining polite. Good luck to restaurateurs who have to endure this kind of behavior.

This was a wonderful experience in Quebec city. In the heart of the main market, this restaurant is bustling and popular. We had a vegetarian pizza and a vegetarian pasta. Both were quite delicious. Try their homemade lemonade, it was made with honey, and it was yummy. Also, ask for their daily special desserts. They all looked absolutely amazing and we tried 3 of them and were happy with all of them. Vegetarian options: We had the fettuccine mushroom pesto pasta and the vegetarian pizza, both were delicious .

Came in with my family (4 people) to have some drinks and appetizers. We were denied service because they said they prioritize people who come for dinner. There was no one else behind us. I had never experienced this anywhere in the world before. Very sad that such awful people ruin such a great city. Edit to add: we went to another restaurant and no one refused us service or even asked why we were there (such a strange concept tbh). We had drinks, and because of the great service ended up staying for dinner and had a great time. Instead of apologizing for the bad experience and learn, the owner goes on to reply to anyone who leaves a bad review and excuses their strange behaviour. There are plenty of restaurants in the city with great service. Don t waste your time here.

Had a terrible experience here and dont recommend it at all. The service was terrible and the server couldnt care less about taking our order, getting us a seat or getting the order right. When we got the wrong order, we couldnt even see the waitress for 30-40mins to get it right. When we did tell her, she didnt apologize or get us the right food .

Incredible thin crust pizza! Very accommodating of English speaking customers. Fantastic location in the heart of the old city. I had the seafood pizza (#12) with tomato sauce, crème, smoked salmon, shrimp, capers, and grated cheese. Paired with a Carlsberg alcohol free beer, it was a meal to go back for.

We were vacationing in QC and My husband and I stopped for a couple drinks - 1 beer and 1 sangria around 11:30. When we got our drinks and a menu handed to us - we said we didn t want anything to eat. We were then told we had to leave if we were not ordering off the menu..never again

The most awful pizza Ive ever had. The dough was uncooked, there was almost no sauce.. The toppings though were generous, but it couldnt save it. Id better eat at McDonalds than at this place

A very beautiful location, terraces, flowers... A superb place in the lower part of old Quebec, almost at the foot of the funicular. The welcome is pleasant and the food very good. We tried the pizzas, delicious as well as the lasagna and vegetarian pasta.... Excellent! The vegetarian pasta had been started with a few bites in the photo.

Small quantity for the price. Carbo pasta is cream pasta (3 bacon bits on my plate and no egg, totally opposite to what was displayed on the menu)

We had a very pleasant experience here last night and I want to talk about it as we happened to be there shortly after this incident. We came across very pleasant, polite and helpful staff who dealt with all our questions about vegetarian and gluten-free food . And the food was excellent. There was no issue at all about us being people of colour. Thanks a lot team la Pizz Royale

I will not rate the food, I didnt get to eat. I came in today, August 21, 2022 at around 5:00p.m. with my wife and son; the waitress took us to a table in a corner next to to the door, we didnt like our table and asked for a table next to the balcony but we were simply told no; at least she was polite, she said, no, sorry, I cant, whatever that meant, she never explained. There were three balcony tables opened and another group who came after us were seated on one of them. I just left and took my family to another place, really hate to leave bad reviews but the waitress didnt even cared when we left.

The pizza was incredibly delicious, staff were very nice. We sat inside as it was raining and it was a bit warm and stuffy but otherwise the experience was amazing.

The pizza ingredients were good, but it wasnt cooked from the bottom up. It was stifling in the interior hall despite the presence of air conditioning. The waitress seemed uncomfortable serving us and I had to look for her to pay.

Very good food, our server Gabriel was excellent. Noémie was excellent at reception.

Outdoor seating was the best part of our dining experience here. Quite pricey and mediocre food. The salmon and shrimp pizza we had was salty and greasy.

It was a spontaneous decision to be here but i d say they believe in serving you with the best quality food!! Would recommend you to give it a try once, you won t be disappointed! Very good PIZZ in a historic setting, we had lunch twice; once on the terrace and the other inside and at each meal the service was perfect. The servers are very friendly and very professional. The carbonara and pizzas were excellent. A big greeting from the people of Bordeaux .

Nice staff, food was petfectly satisfactory. It was a poor choice for us to bring a child to this restaurant. Chicken pizza was fantastic, the pepperoni was pretty decent, Greek salad was excellent.

I wasnt able to drink since they let us wait in line for half an hour before telling us that we couldnt just have one drink in the afternoon.

Great location , unfortunately very poor service.

Standing in line outside, the individual said he would check for a table inside and just a minute . 10 mins later, no one had come back. The French lady behind us went in to see if they d forgotten. Finally, they came out to being us inside (several empty tables so perhaps were short-staffed which is understandable right now). We sat and said we were just there for a drink. The server loudly made a sound of disgust and told us that they were a restaurant and not a bar. We had to order food. We left embarrassed (that law went out years ago about having to order food with drink). Why have Sleeman boards outside if you won t serve anyone asking for a drink? Prepare for the insults to this post as the owner replies with nasty comments to anyone giving a bad review. Please read the responses to the one star reviews as they are outrageous from what the owner says is a professional establishment. This place is low end in a high end area. Response to Owner s Reply: first of all, I am from this country but your derogatory remark assuming I am not, stated in a degrading way only emphasizes how rude your establishment is. It was how the server addressed us when we asked for drinks. She could have politely and quietly advised us. Instead she made a loud, disgusted noise and loudly told us it wasn t a bar, it was a restaurant. She repeated it. People were staring at us as we had to gather our things and go. We were made to feel embarrassed. There was no need to handle people like that. Teach your staff some manners instead of operating rudely. This is not slander, it s fact. We were treated rudely. Your comments however are slanderous and derogatory vs a true review someone is leaving about your place about how they were treated.
