Fantastic service, atmosphere, and food & bev! Exactly what we were looking for.

Eight of us were out for a big family dinner while in town for the weekend. The restaurant is pretty with a lively atmosphere. A bit noisy but not bothersome. The staff was great and made some good beverage suggestions. Food was wonderful. All 8 of us loved our dinners. I will definitely go back next time I m in Quebec.

We reserved for the chefs table experience and it was fantastic. You sit in the kitchen and get to experience all of the prep and movement- food was amazing and authentically Quebec. The wine selections were fabulous and the kitchen staff incredibly friendly. We will definitely go to Louise when we are back in Quebec City! This was such a delightful, memorable evening.

A disappointment, we had stayed at the Port Royal Hotel last year and therefore had breakfast at the tavern, and it was excellent with a nice portion and good produce so naturally I wanted to return there during my stay this year... nothing more to see, I had to book on the internet because on the phone I was on hold for I dont know how long, and the dishes no longer have anything to do with it.. its the same menu but the portions have reduced and the quality of the products is no longer the same

My opinion is divided I went for dinner where the service was perfect and the dish too. On the other hand, at lunch the coffee was cold and the lunch sausages too, we had high expectations for the service.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Restaurant Louise in Quebec City and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. I opted for the tasting menu, which offered a great insight into the chefs cooking. The dishes were all delicious and well presented, with bold flavors and original combinations. The Louise restaurant is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner or an evening with friends. I highly recommend this restaurant to all lovers of good food.

Charming and historic place. Warm atmosphere. Tasty meal. Friendly staff. We had the beef scoter with Bordeaux sauce with a Montecarlo potato, the Fish & chips and the Gourmet biscuit with pear sorbet and white wine.

Too bad, I dont give it a star thanks to the excellent service. However, it is incomprehensible to keep the air conditioning on so high: we were cold throughout the meal, to the point of not being able to fully enjoy each bite. Usually I finish with dessert, coffee and a digestive, but this time I was looking forward to warming up outside. It would be good to realize that customers are cold, especially when you see people around you in coats and scarves. Again, this is a shame, and unfortunately, you are not the only restaurant with this problem.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. On the other hand, the taste of the food is really mediocre. We ordered a duck and smoked salmon dish. The duck was tough and very dry, the smoked salmon was bathed in a questionable onion soup and there were two mini slices of smoked salmon. who were bathed in this soup. I was really disappointed. But what shocked me the most was to see that the staff took the meat, salad and fries directly with their hands and placed them on the plates. One of the waiters had scratched hands and we could see dried blood on them (without a bandage) took the duck with his hands and placed them on the plate. I dont know what mapaq imposes as a hygiene rule but frankly I find it really questionable as a practice. I wouldnt set foot there again.

We went to Louises for a drink only. The atmosphere and decor is perfect. The service and welcome made us want to return there to eat there. A very nice experience!

We really loved it! The only minor downside we found was that we had dinner at 8 p.m. and they started to close everything at 9 p.m. Moreover. No background music. Apart from that, it was really a beautiful spot!

Best Maitre De in the entire Quebec Province! On such a busy day (Quebec Grand Prix), he got us a table for six with no reservation. Food was very tasty and expertly prepared. Outside seating area is big. We liked it so much we went back for a fabulous breakfast. Put this place on your list!

Great waiter.... very nice guy. Friendly & very willing to speak English. Good rinks. Nice ambience in an old building. Kitchen not so good. Friend ordered the cheese burger.... came out with no cheese. Two of us ordered fish & chips. Fries were great but the fish was over-cooked in the deep fryer. Finally my wifes charred octopus was blackened and tough as Goodyear rubber.

I love this restaurant in the Old Port of Quebec. Very well located with the beautiful terrace not too crowded. Good dishes with local, seasonal products. The vegetarian dish of the day is always good and original. And, the best beef tartare in town with confided egg. A delight! Finally, the service is great, we understand that the staff is happy to work there.

A perfect evening in Quebec and they did well by seating us inside while outdoor tables freed up. Wonderful hospitality and service for starters. My order of beef cheeks and grilled octopus was an amazing combination and beautifully presented. Fish and chips were also excellent though cannot compare. Highly recommend.

At the chefs table, menu without any decision on our part (which is wonderful). Delicious scallops, chanterelle dish and buffalo mozzarelle - exquisite blend of flavors! Homemade charcuterie and mustard. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service. In short, a much appreciated evening.

We came there right after we landed in Quebec with a little, very hungry and tired toddler. The waiters did their best to make sure we were comfortable, but they never told us that the wait time was more than an hour to have our food served. As a result, our day was completely destroyed. I wouldnt recommend this place.

Highly recommended- food and atmosphere are excellent and there are both inside and outside seating options, as well as an option to dine in the kitchen and watch the chefs in action. The night we went, the neighbourhood had a blackout just after our order was taken but the wait and kitchen staff, continued cooking by gas and serving food and drinks, by candle and phone light - just added to the atmosphere. They took a lot of care to make sure everybody was fed and kept informed. They couldn t take payment but just noted the bill and card details and charged later. Their focus was on making sure the diners had a great experience rather than just shutting up shop

3rd visits! Our server, Julien, was very attentive with 5* service. The food is always succulent 5*. And the 5* atmosphere!

The presentation of the plates was very beautiful and there were many varieties of vegetables on the plates. Very tasty and healthy I highly recommend. The quantities were sufficient also I had no more room for dessert.

There is a separate lunch menu and there are about 6 types of main dishes. Bibimbap with raw beef was on the menu and it was tastier than I expected. Salmon tartare is also great. Based on the main lunch menu, it lasts approximately 25 to 28 months.

We enjoyed a very delicious meal. The atmosphere and staff were fabulous! We highly recommend.

Its also a very good sign when you declare an allergy to the server and everyone is aware and follows up with you on the changes made or if everything is fine. This seems to be the basis, but unfortunately its not everywhere that I have this experience, so I am very grateful!

We ate on the beautiful outdoor terrace, very well located near rue St-Paul. Excellent service despite the busyness of a summer Friday evening. The waitress made good suggestions for our drinks and wine. Fresh and original food. Main meals quite expensive but worth it due to the beauty of the dishes and the unique Canadian ingredients. Fresh herbs and edible flowers grown on the terrace. Starter: Scallop ceviche. $21 Main meal on the slate: Tuna and octopus sashimi with Quebec mushrooms. $45 Dessert: Key lime tart Very good dining experience and nice overall atmosphere.

This was our first visit to Louise Taverne and we loved our meal. As a main course, we had the Gaspesie halibut served with carrot and cumin puree, pan-fried morels (sensational!), asparagus and grilled peppers, all accompanied by a meat gravy sauce. Simply delicious. The artichoke starter was also excellent although a little sparse in terms of naan bread (4 small wedges). We paid an extra $3 for 4 other tips and we found the price of the extra a little excessive. Furthermore, the dessert (Sloppy rick) was a great discovery with the marriage of strawberry ice cream and the subtle flavor of tarragon. Its been a long time since I ate so well at a restaurant! And the service was very good. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Quebec.

Taverne Louise is a friendly and relaxed place, the draft beer offer is interesting. The menu offers appetizing options apart from a glaring lack of poultry and fairly high prices, notably the salmon tartare as a main course. Despite everything, it is a very pleasant place, especially on the terrace and the staff is exemplary friendly. I recommend.

This was a great spot. Super close to our hotel and very busy as it is popular. We had a reservation and were seated right away at the bar which was fun. The drinks, food and service was excellent. We will return. Vegetarian options: There was a vegetarian option which I almost chose but it was a bit pricey.

We had the chance to eat breakfast there and oh boy was it amazing! The food is impressive, and I feel like it s impossible to be hungry once you re done with your meal! The wine menu is one of the best I ve seen in my life, and the staff? Everyone is just simply amazing! I totally recommend this place, wow!

Octopus and veal cheek, sublime

Last Sunday we sat at the terrace at 8:15 p.m. At 9:10 p.m., we asked the waiter where our order had arrived. He tells us that it wont be much longer. Added to the already too long its quite long. He tells us in 8 minutes max. Ten minutes later, 9:20 p.m., no sign of the dish or the server. The terrace slowly empties. I go to the news. I see the boss and before even speaking he says to me in a dry tone: ¨What do you want?¨ I answer him in the same tone that we have been waiting for more than an hour he tells me cuts and says to me: ¨You arrived at 8:15 p.m. yes, it s been 65 minutes. So he seemed aware of the problem and chose attack rather than excuse. An argument ensues. We would have been responsible for our fate because we would have taken too long to order (15 minutes) and also had a starter. As for the order, when we were ready the waiter told us that there was a problem with the computer and that he would come back to take it 10 minutes later. As for the starter, a potato salad in my case, I dont see what justifies a delay which would have been 70 minutes! He added that he did not accept being spoken to in this tone which was nevertheless the same as the one in which he had addressed me, that we could leave if we wanted and then, this pearl: ¨You m you ruined my evening!¨(sic) We received our meal at 9:25 p.m. but we were no longer hungry. We grabbed a few bites to sustain ourselves and left around 9:35 p.m. Not without apologizing at the same time for having ruined his evening. I dont know if he understood the irony or if he took it at face value but he apologized for getting carried away. I would have accepted his apology if they had not added this: ¨You have to admit that a restaurant meal that lasts 1 hour 20 minutes is normal! Uh no. Not if the main course arrives after 70 minutes and the customers dont finish their meal because the course of the evening has taken away their appetite.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner with family. 3 kids and partner. Elevated food, wonderful patio with a cool breeze on a hot as heck July evening. Vegetarian options: Seemed to be a daily veg option - not vegan, but we didnt need that. It was a smoked tofu tart.

Dinner on the terrace with friends, delicious salmon tartare and small fries too. Our server Julien took great care of us. I highly recommend.

The whole experience was exciting. We were able to be seated in a few moments even though the hotel had mixed up the reservation. The first moments in this crowded busy place were made into a wonderful experience by a fantastic charcuterie board. Sorry to lose one-tenth of a little star for the noise. Did I mention it was a Friday night and it was crowded? !!! The staff were fantastic, especially the maître d, gracious, kind, and hospitable, he did not send us into the rain. Sat us in a cozy place and in We had great food, and the service was excellent. An excellent selection of beer. YUM YUM YUM I wish we had returned to sit on the spacious outdoor patio.

I chose a tartare - supposed to be a specialty - it says tartare on the front... ok beef tartare, lacking in flavor and not spicy. The bar service was very good, ordinary welcome. I was placed between the seasonings of the bar under the pretext of reserved seats... I remained alone at the bar for the hour and a half that I sat there. The place is beautiful, typical of old Quebec. Nice clientele, great choice of wines by the glass. Unfortunately nothing exceptional

Had the artichoke with hummus. The flavor was fine, but wish it had been served warm. The server was attentive and helpful.

The food was good, the service was excellent. I noticed something I normally don t see in a restaurant - people hustling to help out where needed. For example, the host sat us at the bar and noticed the bartender was buried, so he took our drink order. And did a great job! We were attended to by 4 different people during the evening, all seamlessly. Impressive!

The food is really good and the brunch is amazing but during dinner there are so busy and crowded that the service is unfortunately not the best. One night during my stay at the Hotel Port Royal I tried to buy something to go and they just told me that they can t even give me a drink to go because they re so busy.

Don t listen to Dr. Luis A. Vargas Massari, MD. He may be able to save your life, assuming he s of that speciality, but he shouldn t be taking away stars because a business is too busy to serve him. Entitlement to the 10th power. The breakfast was fantastic. We had the bacon blood pudding. The preparation, presentation, taste, and service of this dish were all top notch. Kudos to the chef in charge of this masterpiece. Favorite breakfast, hands down. The oyster mushrooms are a really nice, and delicious touch. The place was busy with Christmas afternoon patrons, but the food is worth the wait! I can completely understand why this place is busy and popular. A special shout-out to all of the servers and chefs working here on Christmas. Your effort and time is really appreciated!

Went during the holidays and got the tasting menu. Ambience is very nice. Waitress was friendly and very helpful in accommodating for my dairy sensitivity. Dessert was superb. I was very disappointed that there was no lunch menu on a weekday. We had to choose the breakfast menu at noon. The only lunch option was tartare. I found it disrespectful since the restaurant had many seats reserved in advance for lunch. One day of the week, midi, the restaurant proposes the menu for the evening. Nous avons dû choisir le menu du déjeuner à midi. La seule option de jeuner était le tartare.

Not sure if we just got unlucky with our timing here but we did not have a good experience. We waited 1.5 hours for breakfast, which was French toast and your typical eggs, toast, potato, & meat. The restaurant was only about half full when we arrived, though it did get busier as time went on (we were there for over 2 hours ). Our waitress was not friendly, she never came over in the 1.5 hours we waited for food to refill coffee or water and never mentioned anything about the wait times. 2 tables that arrived and ordered after us, got their food before us even though we had ordered the same thing. The food was okay when it eventually came to our table. Super disappointed with our experience. I don t like to leave bad reviews but

Fish and chips very good, however the Burger plate lacked seasonings (bland) and the meat was not cooked, there was a draft of fresh air on the portico side bench, the waitress seemed in a hurry.

The homemade French toast is very good!!! Beautiful decor, impeccable service and pleasant atmosphere.

Delicious food all round with a great atmosphere. Service was slightly lacking in terms of attentiveness but overall very good, would definitely recommend.

Our experience was very nice! Since our table was a bit late they arrange a waiting room for our group where we took some cocktails. Service was a bit long but the food was fantastic and the ambiance is very nice. Well come back for sure!

Walked in without reservations and had 2 great seats at the bar. Both of us had the flat iron steak, mine perfectly cooked to medium and my husband s perfect rare served with bordliese sauce, salad and baked potato with cheese. Highly recommend

My husband and I stumbled upon this place and had drinks here every night during our stay in QC, on our final night in QC my husband, son and mother in law had dinner and it was exceptional! We really enjoyed ourselves tonight. Thank you! Dietary restrictions: They accommodated our many food restrictions for my husband and son.

I went there with my family, and we all loved it. The restaurant itself is magnificent (warm, vintage atmosphere with a view of the kitchens) and very well located. The meal was delicious, and the team was warm and professional (which is becoming increasingly rare). My father ordered a burger that seemed undercooked, and they replaced it with exemplary speed, offering him dessert to compensate. The wine recommended by our waitress was perfect to accompany our meal. Besides, their cellar is impressive. Its worth the detour!
