Tim and Frédérique are the cream of the crop. Whether we talk about terroir, locality, sustainable cuisine and especially Quebec gastronomy, their restaurant is a reference. Another of their successes lies in the consistency of culinary quality. At the center of the whole operation are two such warm humans. I couldnt recommend the experience more! Vegetarian options: No problem adapting the menu! Dietary restrictions: Tim will make arrangements for you! No loss in quality.

As soon as you enter Les Alentours, you notice the refined side of the restaurant. It sets the tone and fits very well with the vocation of the place: serving dishes prepared with ingredients coming from at most 150 km around, in an eco-responsible and sustainable cuisine, based on hydroelectricity and a host of other important details for respecting the environment, such as seasonality and the use of all aspects of a product. The only exception: alcohol that comes from outside the region, to ensure an interesting variety of fish, but you will not find gin and tonic, because quinine does not exist in Quebec! What I really liked was the exceptional quality service which makes you want to tip much more than the traditional 15% tip, but surprise! There is no tipping at Les Alentours; employees are paid properly and the company strives to offer a good experience without the race for the famous tip. An interesting aspect when it comes time to take the bill. That said, its not a low-cost restaurant, given the particularities of the place, but the quality is worth it, with really interesting small plates (I advise you to take around 4 per person). Hat!

We felt as if we were eating in their home. The food was delicious.

We chose this restaurant for its philosophy. We were not disappointed. The decor is refined. We ordered the seven dishes available on the menu. It was delicious and original. The server was extremely friendly. The service was quick. A little expensive though, even if its a tipping-free restaurant.

First of all, the eco-responsible concept is really interesting, a lot of work for the kitchen team. You feel it when you arrive in the restaurant, the atmosphere and decoration are very refined, even absent. The restaurant lacks, for my taste, warmth, it has no color, it is rather cold, 2nd service incomplete which did not help to create atmosphere, 2-3 small green plants could help. The food, very good, very expensive for fairly simple items (carrots, bokchoy, hummus, foccacia). The chef came to meet us, we really liked it, very friendly and passionate. The service was great too, great selection of Quebec wines. No-tipping concept, so obviously the $24 carrots include the latter. Meal over $500 for 2 couples with 2 bottles of wine, take out your wallet.

Minimalist decor honoring the exterior with well-placed windows. Sober colors highlighting the color of the dishes. Friendly, respectful and cheerful service. Food of incomparable quality, original dishes prepared with love. You can either have a single dish or opt for a more complete formula, there is something for everyone. The wines were also excellent. The prices are reasonable considering all the research work behind it and the respect of several issues. We are really happy with our experience and we will definitely return! This restaurant is more than just a place to eat, it is a unique and refreshing experience. The staff (a team of 3 - including the chef) are hospitality experts and will make you feel very cared for. Surprisingly, this is a no tip restaurant, even though you d be hard pressed to find a restaurant where you are better attended to. The team works on a philosophy of sustainability and environmental stewardship - they use only sustainable and humane ingredients produced within 50 km of Quebec City. They explain their philosophy in a story like format, which is all a part of the wonderful expedience. This brings me to the food. Not only is it delicious, it s creative. Prepared to be served a dish you re going to continue thinking about well into the future. It s interesting, unique, and completely satisfying. It may seem expensive at first glance, but considering the quality of ingredients and built in tip, you re getting a deal. Try this restaurant. You won t be disappointed.

We had the most spectacular dinner at Alentours. The service was impeccable, we were made to feel so welcomed. And the food was amazing. As were the cocktails. We keep reminiscing and cannot pick a favorite course because they were all SO GOOD.

If you have any dietary restrictions (allergy, vegetarianism, veganism, etc.), they accommodate it if you let them know, but 4 out of 5 dishes already did not contain meat by default. Its expensive, but its worth it. Reservation required.

One of the BEST restaurants in Quebec City without a doubt. Located up north, the restaurant, thriving on its motto of sustainability, is very minimalistic by appearance but don t let that question your instinct. Our Server was one of the best ever. She was extremely friendly, explained each and every dish with the tiniest details and the food was out of this world. Every dish was carefully crafted and each ingredient stood out. I will definitely return every time I visit Quebec. Highly recommended.

What an interesting concept! This restaurant is very unique. From the service to the food, it is fantastic! They have a pre-set 5 courses menu that is changed every 3 weeks. Everything is organic and so tasty. They have healthy and very creative dishes! We found this place by mistake and we are so happy we did! It is by the reservation only so if you want to experience something very unique and delishious dont hesitate. It is not cheap but so worth it!

If I lived closer, I would go once every three weeks which is when they change the menu. I d like to try everything. My wife and I had dinner there and the experience was fantastic. We loved the sustainable approach Tim, the chef, and his crew have adopted, sourcing locally and maximizing the potential of every ingredient that goes into their food. The food, of course, the star of the show, was fantastic. They manage to blend textures, aromas and tastes in combinations that are both yummie as a whole and also allow to experience and enjoy every element that goes into them individually. A real feat! It s not every day the chef greets you and brings you to the table! Tim, Alex and Cedric manage to take you on a hyper local culinary adventure featuring products from a very small radius around the restaurant (155 km when we were there). The 5 course meal left us full but not stuffed, the textures and flavours were amazing and the service was attentive. Their menu changes every three weeks, so I ll definitely be back to try it again!

Each of the 5 courses were up to par, each more tasty than the other. Did you know that turmeric is grown less than 150km from Quebec? Me neither! It s one of the cool things I learned while eating at the Alentours restaurant. That, and the passion of a small team committed and dedicated to offering quality service and a menu that is part of sustainable and eco-responsible food. Yay! Simply memorable evening. Expect a total redefinition of what local cuisine is. Tim, chef-owner, spent time with us to explain his vision and how he implements it (and it doesnt just involve the kitchen). Its moving to see a young chef and his team put so much love into our beautiful planet as well as our TRULY LOCAL products. Food traceability is important, and we appreciate the fact that the producers seem to be carefully selected. Food waste is prohibited, and we carefully reuse everything we can. The welcome, the dishes, the wine list, the atmosphere, really everything was perfect. The dishes are beautiful and the creativity of the team is surprising. The traditional dishes we know are reinvented with imagination. We really fell in love with the risotto with meat gravy and the poblanos salad. Go there for the last service of the day, its a MUST to spend time with the team. Were already looking forward to next time, Surroundings.

Worth the 6+ hour trip from Amherst, MA for a truly wonderful dining experience. We ll be back.

Daily changing menus with exclusively local ingredients showcase the bounty of Quebec and the skill to cook within the limitations of regional availability. I also appreciated knowing that sustainability for Alentours includes a living wage for its employees. Alentours acknowledges the cost of food when producers, employers, and the environment are all treated with respect! As for our experience The ambience is warm and inviting with sleek, comfortable decor. All staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The food was delightful and inspired highlights were the amazingly light and crisp samosa and a lamb pita I cannot stop thinking about. The wines were well curated and delicious it is impressive that excellent wines can be produced in the Nordic growing climate. I cannot wait to go again and experience a completely new menu!

The concept allows us to taste local products of exceptional quality in a single menu. This charming place stands out from traditional restaurants with its humble decor and exceptional dishes. The service borders on perfection. Each dish is explained to us with incredible precision (place of production, type of producer, characteristics, etc.) by a young team of culinary enthusiasts. It feels good to step out of the mass cuisine niche and encourage these creative and environmentally friendly entrepreneurial minds. My prediction . Great concept, colorful and flavorful food and pairings, delicate and respectful service.

The dishes were delicious and the service very good! I love the concept! Small modifications that I would make to make the experience impeccable; the dining room resonates a lot, which makes it difficult to hear each other and our servers. If we added a rug or curtains it would already make a big difference! The music would also benefit from being more instrumental to leave room for the experience, and the more subdued lights would add to the atmosphere. But very much looking forward to my next visit!
