We had an overall good experience dinning there(except a rude incident with by the hostess). Cozy place, very small menu (quality not quantity) the food was great our waitress was really sweet and attentive.
Came here for dinner and the food was superb. The sashimi special was an eclectic mix of Asian and French while the bouillabaisse was very flavourful and intricate in terms of flavour. The chicken liver mousse was also tasty and a good blend of sweet and savoury. The menu here is small but well done, definitely worth trying if in the area.
Atmosphere was good woth outside seating. And Service was decent. Online menu differed from actual menu & on a Sunday had run out of a few options. Oyster app was very good. Special Cod over lobster risotto was ok - cod excellent, risotto not. And martinis were served in 2-3 oz apertif glassware, odd.
Wonderful traditional Quebec cuisine. We ordered the tuna sashimi appetizer, then the mussels and clams entrees. Excellent service from the staff. Open air seating on a humid day. We plan to stop by again on our next trip to Quebec City.
Reservations are a must! Swordfish was spectacular. Scallops followed and did not disappoint. Would highly recommend if you are in the area and would like some flavorful seafood dishes.
It was the best meal that my daughter has ever had. Everything was super fresh. Shout out to the tuna sashimi appetizer and the pork belly entree. Hopefully, others get to sample those dishes since the menu is always changing.
We had the oysters and lobster ravioli, everything was fresh and delicious. Our server was also friendly and helpful. We went on a Sunday and the place was very busy and lively. If you like seafood then this place is definitely worth the detour!
Our food journey in Canada started at Albacore and we were very impressed by the food. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation, but reservations are highly recommended. The food was excellent both in taste, quality and presentation. Service was quick and conversation with the server was pleasant. The cocktails were also equally good. The place is a bit small compared to the number of seating arrangements, but that does not take away the essence of this restaurant.
We loved this restaurant! It was simply delicious and very elegant.
We were there for our Anniversary and the swordfish medlians and pasta was amazing. Great atmosphere, friendly service. We will be back
Very good restaurant, the tables are a little too close
Great atmosphere, delicious food, wonderful service!
Oysters were top notch!
The food is excellent, fresh and creative. The service is professional and welcoming. Wonderful experience.
The meal: DELICIOUS! What can we say about oysters, swordfish, yellow beets, tuna, gemillis...! It was excellent. The service was fast, nothing to say! But we expected more from the waitress. Feeling welcomed, and not just another customer. For the atmosphere, with the reputation of the restaurant, we had in mind a little more chic and less noisy. All in all, a lovely romantic evening. Parking: Impossible to park near.
Excellent discovery, the tataki is simply tasty.
Excellent service and food. Fantastic restaurant and food.
Friendly service, great seafood! You can watch them cook the food right at the counter. You might come out smelling like smoke though but the food is great! Reservations are a must, they get real busy.
The food was really excellent. This made up for the service which was passable, nothing more. To try!
Everything was excellent! Great atmosphere, courteous staff. I recommend.
I would give it 3.5 actually. Good experience, without standing out. When it comes to atmosphere, everyone has their own thing, but the fairly loud and very English-speaking pop electro rnb 90s/00s music is not what I prefer in the restaurant.
Went there this evening with my boyfriend: hearty and EXQUISITE food of a superior quality, a very appreciated wine suggestion, super pleasant service and a warm atmosphere. I think my boyfriend even got tired of me repeating that was good! . We are definitely going back.
What can we say about this culinary experience If you are in the area of Quebec, this is a must The octopus tastes like butter The swordfish tataki was perfect Fried chicken
I went to eat mussels for my wifes birthday, and they were huge and delicious.
Different great food. Try the Chablis wine. Very professional service. Definitely would return.
Tuna sashimi and swordfish tataki are a must-try! Impeccable service!
Very nice experience! I loved my meal! I recommend 200%
Visit to QC for a romantic weekend, several restaurants closed on Sunday. So we have little choice but we are very happy to have come across this restaurant. Fantastic, delicious, wow atmosphere! THANKS !
We were visiting from the USA. We loved the wine, food, and service. We had the bouillabaisse. Excellent.
If you have a Korean soul in need of warm soup, order the bouillabaisse here
Had the best Swordfish Tataki at this restaurant. Creative to pair swordfish with peach and it works! Will go back to try other main courses.
We came up to Quebec City for the mountain biking, but we also needed to fuel. Knowing that there is a food scene here, we resorted to our time tested method of looking for the most interesting restaurants. Albacore for that bill. We wanted seafood as a change from other heavier dishes. We split the arancini and the halibut bouillabaisse. It was generous, with two 6-8oz portions of halibut, and plenty of muscles and little neck clams. I asked for bread to soak up the extra liquid and vegetables that were left. Also ordered a half dozen oysters, and the staff gave us an extra for my wife to try one (she said she didnt want to split a dozen). Staff was incredibly friendly, and his cocktail recommendation was on point. 5/5 would recommend.
Amazing cocktail & food.
We made a reservation to dine here based on it being billed as a seafood restaurant. The hostess seemed annoyed that we were there. The staffs annoyance with our patronage would be the theme of the night. There was actually very little seafood on the menu, so we ordered what we could. The oysters were good, but the oyster farmer and not the shucker deserve the praise for that. The surf and turf meatball was under seasoned and undercooked so that the dominant flavor was raw flour. The mussels were cooked fine, they just lacked any flavor. The tuna tataki was likewise cooked well, but without any flavor. The food was bad enough, but the servers running by to drop our food without a comment or a smile and looking at us with thinly veiled hostility was bewildering and shocking. We were on time for our reservation, spoke French (husband is fluent and I speak enough to have gotten along fine in every French speaking territory in the world) said please and thank you (my husband began chastising me for thanking the server for throwing my plate/drink/what have you at me without comment after the 10th time). We felt no rudeness in any other establishment in Quebec and cannot begin to fathom what we could have done to deserve such treatment. To add insult to injury, there were mosquitos in the dining room so we were being eaten as we were eating. The horrible service and lackluster ambiance aside, what makes this experience so annoying is that there is so much fabulous food and so many outstanding restaurants in this town, and we wasted a meal here. We could have had a great meal but instead we went to Albacore.
It was an extraordinary dining experience! First of all, the service received by Étienne and Lydianne was extraordinary; very attentive, attentive, very interesting suggestions, despite the busy Saturday evening. Our additional compliments go to sous chef Marcel (23 years old!!!) and his team! Bravo for the audacity, attention and quality for each of the dishes served WoW, what professionalism! Thank you all for this great evening! We highly recommend this restaurant and, for sure, we will come back there on our next visit!
Rude staff. An endless wait. A so-called bouillabaisse.... they have never tasted the real thing. Arancini who shouldnt be called Arancini. The Spritz without prosecco. Expensive and overrated, avoid. There is much better not far away.
Creative labor intense delicious items. Salads weee extraordinary.
Freshness, freshness & flavor! If you like seafood this restaurant is simply perfect. We find a relaxed atmosphere there, with a friendly welcome. The Barman will recommend tasty and perfectly balanced drinks. We took the seafood tower, with LOBSTER, Shrimp, SCALLOP CEVICHE, OYSTERS and so on. It was sublime, we were won over! By far, one of the best culinary experiences! For a successful evening, you know where to go!
Very good experience! The dishes are varied and original. Perfect cooking. Good atmosphere, the service is impeccable. I recommend for a romantic meal or simply with family!
Staffs speak English and very nice and friendly, wine was great. However food is not our cup of tea. Worst part is I can t order what I wanted because they change menu every 3 weeks or months.(I don t remember exactly how often) We ordered what our server recommended. As I remember, it was chicken liver and seafood something. I didn t enjoy them maybe because it is my first time to try, and it doesn t mean food is not good.
A first visit for us: the restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere lively and pleasant, the welcome and the service are friendly, efficient and attentive waiters. I loved the fish rillettes starter!! I took the swordfish tataki dish: it was sliced thick and difficult to cut (small nerves in the flesh) I would have preferred it to be sliced very thin or a little more cooked (it was seared very lightly ). Yes I know that a tataki is not very cooked but that should not be to the detriment of the texture. The accompaniments were delicious but I struggled with the combination of flavors (my opinion!!). The peaches were unfortunately not ripe and therefore tasted almost nothing. These are all details because overall I ate very well and so did my partner. I recommend this restaurant!
We ordered oyster, cod, salad and spaghetti. All was good both cooking and presentation. I cant believe salad and spaghetti can be made so well.
Everything was perfect!
Gorgeous! Thank you very much for the welcome as well as the excellent meal. I highly recommend this restaurant which is simply perfect
Absolutely delicious food and a great environment!
Excellent oysters to start. Added sea scallops to my large salad for a delicious 2nd course. My sons Moules Frites were also excellent. Extensive wine list and friendly efficient service in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Very disappointed with my experience the dishes lacked taste, overcooked scallops, the dry oysters, the expeditious service had the impression that the waitress couldnt wait for the table to clear, however the drinks were delicious
Had the pleasure of eating here twice, so delicious esp the tuna sashimi app!!
Me and my buddies first day in Québec we ate the most amazing food here. Oysters, tuna sashimi, swordfish with risotto and lots of margaritas. Yum! Great service! Cool place!
Very busy but still able to give good service and very good food.
We showed up at 5:35 pm and the place was empty. I asked for a table for two. The person asked if I had a reservation I said no. He said you have to sit outside. It s 85 degrees outside I asked if we could sit inside the said no we are full. Nice business
The cuisine is tasty, the service impeccable, very good atmosphere. I recommend
Very good seafood with a twist.
Very tasty
We shared the oysters, Mussels+ fries and Ravioli. It was all extremely good! The portion sizes are big, and the food is carefully presented. We sat on the kitchen side and enjoyed watching everything being prepared. It was a perfect experience.
Small menu. Loved it Great service And fair prices. Food : 5/5
Food wasnt really memorable for how expensive it is. Portions were small, too. Nice place to stop for a beer and appetizers. Great atmosphere!
Beautiful view during sunsets. Good service and good quality of the dishes tried. A little expensive, but worth it. We loved our time and the service was professional.
First, the food was outstanding!!! The combination of ingredientes and food presentation is comparable to Michelin star restaurants. Second, our waiter, Etienne, was incredibly knowledgeable and courteous. He took the time to explain in detail how every dish was made. At the end, he surprised us with the best drink we ever had. 1,2,3 Cha Cha Cha, a mix of sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and creamy drink. Thanks so much for the outstanding food and experience.
Had a great time bringing my wife here for her birthday. Service was great, the chefs were working hard but clearly enjoying and taking a lot of pride in everything they sent out.
We had a lovely evening in a restaurant with a focus on fish and seafood, the Albacore. A lobster starter was lukewarm, freshly prepared with a light salad. Bloody Caesar starter was based on mussels with the deconstructed ingredients of the salad, infused with a tomato sauce with vodka and mussel stock. Delicious! Jerk chicken with grilled squid over rice and beans was a sumptuous treat. This modern kitchen with a changing menu is definitely recommended.
We had a very pleasant meal. Service was friendly and professional at this seafood-focused place. The steamed fish ravioli appetizer was delectable and fresh NB oysters were delicious. Their fresh, in season vegetables (peas, asparagus) were one of the highlights. One dish I would skip is an extra seared foie gras, which was too dry.
Nice welcome, we had not been able to reserve, the waiter was able to find us a place that evening. We strongly advise you to make a reservation. The food is excellent, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you for this beautiful moment spent in Quebec
Excellent service from all staff encountered and delicious food. I had never had oysters and quickly regretted not ordering more. I asked for the chefs choice (promotion) $39 for starter, main meal and sweets. Dont be afraid to try because its a surprise, and for the price and quality, wow! Plus, the portions are more than generous!
The best seafood restaurant in Quebec! I 100% agree!
Very nice evening between lovers, on a moderately busy Friday evening. The portions are huge for the price except dessert (we had a Passe-Partout coupon). Our hostess seemed very busy with other tables and we were located in the passageway so very noisy. Service to improve. On the other hand the food was delicious and a culinary experience. The kind of restaurant that I recommend as a tapas version to share with several people. The only downside was that I found the dumplings to be excellent, but on the other hand they had the taste of freezing and the appearance of a supermarket dumpling. It doesnt take away from the taste but I was disappointed. The fried zucchini lacked punch and flavor.
We popped in w/out reservations & were fortunate to snag a seat at the bar. Very cool place that is a little out of the way, but worth the trek. The staff was amazing. The place was packed & the ladies were the hosts, waitress, bartenders, baristas, runners etc..We had the oysters to start all excellent! Highly recommended.
Such a chic, casual somehow elevated experience here. We got oysters and the the chicken liver appetizers. Both were fantastic and they had a homemade buffalo sauce for the oysters instead of tabasco or something and I have to say, that was remarkable. We got the lobster ravioli and the Char. I had the Char and it came with a savory french toast as well as a basil/herb yogurt sauce. Truly, one of the best meals I ve ever had. Such an interesting mixture of textures and perfectly balanced each other out. Also the fiddleheads with the ravioli was a pleasant surprise that I am very excited to have tried. Lastly, our server Audrey was so remarkable. She was very kind about my bumbling french and gave us a shot of an aperitif made from Maple water(i m not sure what it was honestly) but it was fantastic. Wonderful experience, wonderful food, wonderful service.
Good friendly restaurant where each of the servers made sure to offer us the best service. Unique cocktails: The Cha cha cha is a must try! Good wine list by the bottle. I would have liked to see the names of the selections by the glass listed on the menu (Available on request, however). Original dishes while remaining accessible and generous portions. Great view of the city when the garage doors are open!
Really disappointing dish and poor quality service.
A very nice experience that we recommend from the service to the food. The dishes are tasty and different. Theres something for everyone on the menu, while being small enough that theres plenty of control. The only downside was that we waited around twenty minutes at the start to order our bottle. This can be explained by the turnover that there was between the first and second serves. It was neither seen nor known afterwards and our cups were always full
Amazing meal!!! Everything we ate was so impressive, and with very generous portions and reasonable prices.
Everything was perfect! The attentive service, the dishes, the atmosphere and the chef. The food was excellent. We will definitely return!
Really friendly service. I liked the musical selection. Its rare that I appreciate the sound ambiance of commercial places. The mussels marinière and the fries were delicious. Absolutely worth discovering.
Wonderful they approach fish in a way i ve never experienced before. And the menu change evry now and then so always new experience Dietary restrictions: They can adapt to some dietary restriction
Tasty dishes, generous portions, a wine list that compliments a diverse menu presented by a great gang of enthusiasts with, in the end, a very reasonable bill. The cocktail of the day, candy pink; its happiness in a glass Favorite starter: the rockefeller-style cherrystone clams and the pulled ribs & foie gras dish Main course: FRIED CHICKEN AND LOBSTER
Great experience!
Very original, really great place! The staff, the vibe of the atmosphere and the wonderful plates. 10/10 points from me. ABSOLUTELY SUGGESTED
The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive to all of our questions. Drinks are also tasty
Great discovery Excellent mocktail, all dishes were perfect! We will return. Very good service
We had a delicious meal at albaCORE--service was professional and prompt, and the seafood was perfect. I had the dumplings (delicious) and decided to have a second starter as my main, the salmon gravlax and citrus salad. Both were delicious. The recommended local sparkling wine was an excellent accompaniment. We were too stuffed to have dessert! Highly recommend.
Best food I ve ever eaten !!! Everything was impeccable!!! 5 stars easy
Perfect in every way! My husband and I had cocktails, oysters on the 1/2, I had seared scallops w/pork belly, he, octopus & house sausage w/marinara pasta! Superb!! Service was outstanding, atmosphere fun & casual! One of the highlights of a week in this foodie paradise!
Very delicious food and welcoming team, I highly recommend the place, and sure will come back soon. Dr-Zakaria Helles
Its always excellent! Sometimes we prefer certain dishes more than others but in general it is always excellent value for money. Top3 in Quebec City for us.
Excellent service with wonderful staff attentive to our needs.
Etienne was the best server. Really good manager
Wow wow wow What a great discovery! Wine, sparkling that cannot be found at the SAQ. The menu is varied, everything looks delicious. I will return there without a doubt. Nice atmosphere, good service!
We bought the Valentines Day 2023 box and it was a real delight!! A very generous 4 course (we had lunches), tasty, well seasoned and easy to prepare. Truly a great success! A big thank you for this much appreciated formula!
Really very good
What a discovery!!! I recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to try a culinary change of scenery. Originality is the watchword. Flavors and textures combine wonderfully in tasty and generous starters, main dishes and cocktails! The cocktail of the day was a delight! As for the starter, three dumplings and chanterelles, it was simply divine. The choice of dish was the Thai yellowfin tuna soup. Talk about a variety of colors, tastes! LAlbacore is an exceptional restaurant and you will see me there as often as I can go there. Well done all round!
Everything was excellent. Scallop tartare, braised and lacquered pork belly, cod and pulled pork. Plus desserts. Updated visit March 2023. Disappointment. After all these years of attendance, the kitchen has changed (the chef?). Everything lacked taste. Agnello, bouillabaisse, Lebanese cassoulet accompanying the fish of the day. The bouillabaisse with a thick tomato sauce that didnt taste like fish or seafood instead of a broth. 5* goes to 3*.
It s pretty on the plate even if it lacks a little finesse in the mouth. The setting is friendly and relaxed, a nice address.
Top-notch and original cuisine. A treat. Everything is top notch. From cocktails, starters to dessert. Well done to the team. Deserves 6 stars out of 5.
Small restaurant, but very nice discovery. We had excellent service, the server took the time to answer our questions and even come and chat with us a little. We shared several starters and each dish was delicious. An experience to certainly relive as the menu is renewed regularly. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options, but quite limited as the menu is relatively short. Parking: Located in Old Quebec, so no parking on site. You must either use the paid underground parking lots nearby, or try to find a parking space in the surrounding streets.
Albacore is a hidden tiny seafood restaurant that is family friendly. The waitress was the best among all the restaurants we visited during our stay at Quebec. Our recommendation is the salmon risotto hands down!
Alright, so this review is well overdue. My fiance and I traveled a lot in 2022, and as we sit here in reflection, Albacore was our top experience of the year. It had everything to do with the incredible bartender at Albacore. We came in for a quick drink last summer before dinner (at another place) and were highly impressed by the drinks and the hospitality of the bartender. So much so that we decided to go there the next night with my cousin and his wife, but with reservations at the bar. We all had just an incredible time having a curated experience between the wonderful food (not to be understated, as it was excellent) and incredible, thoughtful drink pairings. As the night progressed, he gave us a tour of Quebec liquors and cocktails until Albacore closed. His level of hospitality and warmth was off the charts, and we were fortunate enough to meet up with him and some other staff as some of the locals spots afterwords. It was all that hospitality should be and one that sticks out amongst many great experiences throughout the year. We will definitely return.
We appreciate the drinks offer and the local cuisine.
Really good, perfect service, great wine suggestions, just wow.
Delicious Succulent
Everything was absolutely delicious.. catfish dumplings, octopus, sashimi, risotto, oysters, cazuela de mariscos. And the gateau aux dattes is to die for. Cozy place. Great service.
Nice date place. Seafood was great, liked the vibe too
Excellent cuisine, very courteous service, beautiful wine list. Ok atmosphere.
Great food, good service!
Loved it! The food was really delicious and the cocktails were great as well. We were worried the portions would be small based on pictures so we ordered an appetizer. The portions were actually really generous and I left feeling super full. No regrets about that though because the appetizer (Salmon Arancini) was just as delicious as the main courses (Chicken Parmesan + Octopus and Veal Spaghetti). My only regret is that I was too full to try the dessert.
Great spot for seafood and market cuisine. The food always wow us! Generous portions at a fair price. They change the menu regularly which keeps things interesting.
The food experience at Albacore was fantastic. I ordered 3 appertizers instead of 1 appertizer and 1 main dish as the waiters recommendation and it was a right decision because the amount was generous for 1 person. The food was perfect to my eyes, nose and tongue. The service was good too, they didnt let me wait too long for the food eventhough I was alone. Thank you for your service and talented chefs. :) <3 Love it!
Little gold mine in the heart of Old Quebec Our choice fell on the starters because the offer was so interesting and EVERYTHING we ate was excellent, sought-after, different, generous. Mega favorite for the Caesar-style squid steak, but the menu changes every 3 weeks. Warm service, relaxed atmosphere and wine by the glass on point. In short, a next level experience Vegetarian options: Some dishes offered allow you to replace fish with Halloumi. Lots of vegetables on the plates :)
Food and wine was excellent!
May 4, 2023, arrived without reservation (alone). Sitting at the bar, I had 5 star service with Etienne. The dishes are magnificent, the service impeccable and the wine list has something to satisfy even the most picky eaters.
Great discovery of this restaurant. Good service and excellent food. My partner and I ordered the Greek gods plate and the braised veal and octopus pasta. Everything was delicious, especially the plate of Greek gods. On our next visit to Quebec we will come back.
Amazing !!! The food was excellent. The service too. Really a nice place. Favorite for the oysters and scallop ceviche.
Im trying to write a fair review here as this restaurant is giving me a mixed feeling. Not gonna lie, food is great, like other comments said, however there was this server ruined the whole meal which made me feel the need to give this restaurant a bad review:( 1.BAD ATTITUDE As I got into the restaurant, trying to confirm the booking with this waitress, dyed green hair, she seemed to be very impatient in serving me in English. Then I caught her using the word putain, a curse word in french, in a conversation with her colleague referring me and my fam right after I asked her if theres parking nearby (which she did not answer). To be fair, even shes not referring us, is that okay to ignore a customer and curse in such setting? Later in the dinner, my dad asked for the wifi access from her, somehow we could not connect to the wifi and asked her again she left us a yes and left. Wow very helpful, I hope racism is not involved here. 2.CHARGE OF THE SAME DISH 3 TIMES We are tourist in the city and do not read French. We ordered some appetizers and 2 entree dishes. Though at the end we got the bill with the same dish being charged 3 times (see photo). I have part of the blame for not being aware of it at that moment, tho I tried to contact the restaurant the next day, no response at all and I did not see they are willing to help. Well, I see it as a lesson now if it could not be solved. I hate to think that the restaurant tried to scam us as it has such good reputation in their food, though, everyone PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL THOROUGHLY. We thank the chefs for such beautiful meal, we love your food, and our table server but not so much to that specific green-haired, unhelpful and irrelevant server. :(
On a perfect night for terrace dining, we enjoyed supremely fresh PEI oysters, scrumptious oyster and veal pasta, delicious Atlantic salmon, and a wonderful white wine to accompany it. Surprising to us was that the desserts were equally great: crème brûlée and a mille feuille Service was attentive but not overbearing. Overall one of our best meals in Quebec.
Very nice experience!!! Small restaurant but very warm!! The crab ravioli, delectable, just like the dumplings!! A unique experience in Quebec!!
Lovely little gem No nonsense and a beautiful menu Only had appetizers would love to come back to try more of their menu
Excellent
A very nice discovery. The oysters were very good, a real delight in the mouth. The main course (Boudin, lobster) delicious. I really liked the food and wine pairings. A great experience.
Best restaurant we ate at in Quebec. Come here if you love seafood. Ordered the seafood tower and everything was super creative and delicious. My mom is very picky and she loved it
Excellent food and excellent service. Im not a French speaker and Audrey was fantastic. They didnt have some of the drinks I was looking for and she made substitute suggestions and her suggestions were better than the ones I was looking for. I will now always ask for a Bloody Cesar instead of a Bloody Mary. Etienne was so friendly and kind. The seafood was fresh and well-made. Excellent experience overall
Extremely disappointed. I ordered the Rigatoni +++ dish with seafood: I discovered a long brown hair of about 5 cm in my plate. I kindly mentioned it to the waitress who apologized, explaining that the handling of the plates etc. was not correct. could be the cause. There is NO justification to be given to a customer who has a hair on their plate at a restaurant, only excuses to be given. I subsequently mentioned to the waitress that I was no longer hungry and she offered to take my dish away (the plate was completely full at that time because I had only taken a few bites before discovering the hair). I agreed and she went and placed my leftovers in a takeout dish and put it in a bag. When I got home, I found that only about a third of the contents of my plate had been placed in the takeout dish (and I didnt have any seafood left, just chicken). I am extremely disappointed with the service received and these 2 incidents. The waitress took a glass of wine off our bill (but I didnt know at the time that she had only put a THIRD of the contents of my plate in my take-out dish, for which I had paid $30! !!). We finally paid a $150 bill only to come back with a bad memory and a doggy bag containing only 2/3 of my plate which I had asked to take away in full (where is the rest? Thrown by the waitress? Why ?). In short, I really do NOT recommend!
We came here for dinner with reservations and were quickly seated at an outdoor spot. Our waiter was very comfortable speaking english and seemed to be waiting on the majority of the tables, at least the outdoor ones from what we could tell. We ordered the Sangria Passionfruit with Prince Edward Island Oysters as starters. For our first main we got the Nova Scotia Scallops (served topped with caviar and on top of fried potato, alongside shrimp, asparagus, and fresh greens) For our second main, we got Rigatoni (with octopus, chicken, prawn tails, zucchini, schmaltz, browned onions, and fresh greens) Sangria Passionfruit: drink was pretty good and balanced, not too sweet or two sour Raw Oysters: they were fresh and had a pretty mild flavor. they had a homemade bqq sauce which was just ok, Nova Scotia Scallops: highlight of the dish was that the scallops and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The potato was a little gritty in the center. The sauce and the asparagus/greens overall was under seasoned. Rigatoni: The octopus was hands down the most tender Ive ever had (although not sure everyone will prefer that). The chicken was really dry. The prawns were super tender and had really complex flavor, especially in contrast to the shrimp from the other dish. The happy surprise of the dish was the rich sauce that was sweetened by the onions and schmaltz. In general, this was a lot more food than I expected and looking back, I wish the chicken was omitted, and the rigatoni was replaced by some nice crispy bread to soak up the onions and sauce.
Expensive but great food and nice place to enjoy a meal. If only Canada would stop their tipping culture and showing prices without taxes. It is stupid.
The servers & managers gived us the best experience in town. Its a must
Very good restaurant/bar. The best oysters I have eaten in Quebec so far. The products are fresh and the presentation of the plates is very beautiful. It still costs between $25 and $30 for the dishes but the cocktails are very affordable. They also have a great selection of wine, especially whites.
A little pricy, but really good and fresh seafood
A delight. Refined.
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. This is a benchmark for the restaurant industry. We wanted to sit outside and only spot available was a high table. We got some drinks and then the when a table opened up, we were seated properly. The drinks and food came really fast. The server anticipated our every move and when he saw my father trying to take a selfie, he even came and offered to take our picture; which is incredible because my father always has to ask the servers to take our photos. The food was mouth watering, so fresh and delicious. Just perfect.
I loved my experience, it was a first visit and it wont be the last! The food was excellent and the service too, a big favorite!
Just perfect thank you, and the waitress Audrey wow magnificently kind and sublime, long live your restaurant
Changed the menu obviously. Service was bad and unfriendly. Don t bring kids - super unfriendly for families. Who serves strongly seasoned and peppered fries to kids? For a fish house very limited choice. Don t be blinded by the pictures - the full menu was changed.
We adopted Albacore with take-out meals during the pandemic and since then we have been going there regularly. In our opinion, no restaurant in QC is of such good quality! The presentation is always extraordinary and the tastes of the dishes are delicious. We like the fact that they change the menu regularly, so there are always great discoveries to make. A 5-star hotel in Étienne which offers us exceptional service every time with its little cocktails of the day! We always give carte blanche when it comes to the menu and he always brings us good dishes! We recommend x1000!
Described as a seafood restaurant, I was disappointed at the lack of seafood and/or fish variety. Service was excellent and the server was able to identify favorite and popular dishes which was appreciated.
Delicious!! Great service and really nice food. Also a nice view of Quebec, from the top of the hill! We ordered the lobster and shrimp rolls and the cod, very nice flavors! Make a reservation in advance as it gets quite busy. They also have a nice patio to enjoy.
Didnt feel welcomed at first. Its lucky that our server was very nice. Good food. Its worth trying. Menu may change every month. We missed the scallops and dumplings.
We loved it. Great service, remarkable dishes all in a very beautiful restaurant. High aerobatics without pretension. THANKS !
The visuals are there but the flavors are unfortunately not there... disappointing from a culinary point of view. We had a very nice evening despite everything. Parking very difficult to find.
Sometimes the food is really excellent, but sometimes its a little ordinary. Its either a big home run or a disappointment...
A treat in the products, the cuisine, the wine, the service! All in a relaxed atmosphere with a great playlist. We enjoyed our dishes, and the valuable advice received from our server with explanations about the wine. High prices but for fresh, well-cooked and cooked products. You cant have everything!
We were happy to try this restaurant, recommended by more than one person. Unfortunately, the dishes were disappointing. The broth served with the ravioli was tasty, but the ravioli itself contained a filling that was both dry and mushy. For the rest, our two dishes contained the same vegetables as garnishes: wild mushrooms, broccoli and steamed beans. The cod was fresh, but the shellfish bisque advertised with the dish was nothing more and nothing less than a clear, tasteless liquid. As for the pasta dish with sweetbreads, once again everything was bathed in a very clear liquid, like a sad soup, absolutely nothing creamy to coat the pasta, and everything had the same neutral taste of pale brown salty which fell on the heart after 2 bites. Very nice, quality ingredients, unfortunately poorly prepared: the mushrooms were not pan-fried but gave the impression of having simply boiled, and the sweetbreads were rather mushy and sad. Even at a low price, these dishes would have been disappointing. But when you treat yourself to a visit to a restaurant that has a good reputation and uses noble ingredients, you expect the basics to be mastered. This was not the case here.
Super
Disappointing restaurant. Not many seafood options. Dishes are not tasty. The service is so amateurish. The experience was disappointing and the bill was steep.
Fantastic food and great service!
4 people at the same table introducing themselves for the first time! We were blown away by the flavor and the presentations. Dietary restrictions: To our knowledge, we have not seen a single gluten-free dish, or one not marked gluten-free.
Good service and good food, the place is not very well air-conditioned, we were hot.
A real delight. I recommend the cod fillet and the tuna tataki and cauliflower starters. The cod back sauce is excellent. Perfect cooking. Don t hesitate any longer!
Love it. I want the recipe.
Excellent service. Fun decor and great view of the city. Food was a bit hit or miss. The beef tartare was delicious but small portions. The seafood dumplings were okay. The pork roast was fantastic, perfect texture and flavour. The two calamari was nothing special in terms of flavour. The Pouding chômeur was massive, more than enough for two people, it was really good but needed more sauce for the sheer volume. Spicy cocktail of the month was pretty good, the house margarita was nothing special, the house espresso martini was perfect. Presentation was great overall.
Great food, particularly the main and entree. The dessert wasn t amazing but not enough to knock off a star. Very nice service. Ordered a bottle of wine but sat at the bar and watched him make cocktails. They looked great.
The scallop starter!!!! Flavors and textures were there.
We stumbled upon Albacore and we are so glad we did! The food and service were top notch. It s one of the best restaurants here in Quebec City. We got the scallops and fish dumplings and they were absolutely to die for. Our main entree we got the surf and turf for 2, it was a hefty portion of seafood. Some of the best seafood I ve had and I m from Boston. We highly recommend stopping by, you would not be disappointed.
Our best meal in QC so far, simple food cooked well , very flavorful, not fussy or over priced. We had the Fois Gras, Calamari, Cioppino and Cod
Very good food and service. Oysters were fresh and the sauce for the cod was amazing. Overall, a very good experience.
My favorite restaurant. An incredible culinary experience if you like fish and seafood. The flavor combinations are perfectly balanced. I had excellent service. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking.
Place I will come back to next time I visit Quebec.
A restaurant to discover for the food but to completely avoid for the attitude of one of the owners. Unpleasant from A to Z with us. I would not return there for this reason. I have the impression that his waitress has to pay for her attitude unfortunately. Really sad...
very cool atmosphere, great service, fresh ingredients and well portioned. clearly a lot of thought and effort went and continue to go into this place. I wanted to love the food. I liked it. thought and effort went into tithe cocktails too, but here again, I wasn t impressed and I wanted to be.
What a delightful place! Everything about it was unexpected. The flavors, the ingredients, the drink pairings. The menu offers a twist on seafood that I had yet to enjoy and everything was bursting with flavor. The service was great, everyone was very helpful and friendly. The ambience is unpretentious and inviting. Merci pour une super soirée!
Exceptional service and delicious food. A real gem to discover.
Went here for le table de gourmet. The scallop/lobster sausage had alot of chunks of toughness and the skin was hard. There were also shells left in my dish that made it unappetizing. The waiter kept spilling the water over my clothes. Dessert had popcorn in it and was bitter. Overall, extremely disappointing for the amount of money paid.
Discover this restaurant with the gourmet table. We were disappointed with this table dhôte. For my part, I decided to take the squid steak a la carte and a terrine starter which was more plentiful, better quality at a lower cost. Those who had taken the table dhôte were all unanimous that it was not worth it. But what I liked least was the service. As soon as we arrived, we felt the waitress rushed and stressed. When it came to dessert, it was the opposite. It took so long to get this dessert which was banana bread with pecans. I expected more prestige from this restaurant so it disappointed me and I dont think I will return. What can we say about parking, which is very difficult to be nearby, especially when we are a group with several cars. Parking is on the street.
This is the first time Ive eaten here and it wont be the last time because I love the food and the very excellent service.
We really loved albaCORE and were happy to have discovered it by randomly walking by. The place and staff have a little attitude which is well-deserved as it turns out. The food is exceptional, creative and presented beautifully and there s a fun and interesting wine list alongside. Stand out dishes were the Tiger Shrimps and Garlic, which incorporated celeriac with a kimchee and root vegetable purée; also the skin roasted salmon with a squash tasting - grilled butternut, roasted acorn and spaghetti squash with a smoked mackerel pate (easily the most interesting and delightful part). Hands down some of the best salmon I ve had in a long time.
Great food and friendly service.
Wow
Nice and friendly place, welcoming and warm staff... Simply delicious and what a great culinary discovery. Cod, oysters, wine list Wow, a real delight and a wonder for the taste buds. 10/10
Really very good. Service a bit rushed. Good impression.
The quality of the dishes in this restaurant is impressive. Everything is good and the service incredible. Its really worth the detour!
Truly delicious cuisine, quality and brilliantly matched wines, and original and perfectly executed accompaniments. Well done!
Great seafood restaurant On the to do to try other menus!
The swordfish bacon was heavily smoked and tasted like burnt wood. Overpriced as well. Not for me.
Food is to die for. Vegetarian options: If you eat fish but not red meat there are several options for you. Food : 5/5 |
Loved it, nice place if you want to chat while enjoying the atmosphere. Good value for money! I recommend
My partner and I was excited to come during our visit to Quebec City, but that quickly changed when we noticed their disappointment upon arrival, one of us is a POC. The host seem annoyed that we spoke English, we re obviously visiting. We were given a table in an empty room, while there were many dining in another room. The service got better bc we ordered, wine, appetizers, mains and dessert and tipped well. Now on to the food, it was mediocre at best, the oysters were ok (we had better the night before)and the main dishes were underwhelming. The swordfish was overly smoked and tasted like a slab of bacon, not the way we like our seafood. I wouldn t recommend based on the food, and how we were treated. It was subtle, but enough for us to notice. To add to it, the night before we had a wonderful meal and service so it was a stark difference. Wish we went elsewhere as there were so many other restaurants to try.
Terrific evening!!
