Humpty's Big Plate Diner - Red Deer in Red Deer

December 21st, 2024, at 5 PM, 8 kids, a baby and 5 of us Adults came to this amazing Humptys. We were greeted by an amazing server, who knew we were coming (we phoned ahead to make sure we could all be seated at one table) She accommodated us with a smile. The server was organized and dealt with the chaos of us with grace. The food was absolutely % amazing! It was fast, hot and delicious! I popped my head in to thank the owner and the cook for the great job they did accommodating our huge group on short notice. Komal is the new owner and he actually came out to thank us for coming in. Who does that anymore? People want to go where everyone knows your name. We felt welcome. It was a great atmosphere. We will definitely be bringing our group again in the future. No One else in town was set up to have this many people at once and have us sit all together. Thank you Humptys! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Good luck on your new venture Komal!

Went for a burger and fries.new manager and the dish was smaller. Not like the old manager.

Always a great spot...our waitress always remembers our names. Only drawback was the batter on the fish. Far more batter than fish. Over an inch thick and carried the cooking oil in the batter.

I just want to give a shout out to the owner, Komo, for helping a father and daughter out who were experiencing some distress and needed a safe place to wait for a ride. He made sure they were well taken care of, filled their bellies and kept them warm during their wait. Thank you Komo for being such a kind-hearted angel to this father with his daughter. We need more people like you in this world. Your deeds will never be forgotten!

Love everything about this place Maybe a bit to chilly Food

Pancakes for kids meal were cold they heated up for us. Wifes mashed potatoes were cold as well but covered in hot gravy so eatable. Overall a good experience.

- Eggs - improperly cooked to what I asked for which ruined the rest of the meal. - Noticed kitchen staff doesnt use hairnets and beardnets with long beard and handling clean dishes and food. - food took more than half an hour to arrive from order time. - server never came around to ask how everything is. - all in all I definitely do not recommend this diner.

Humptys used to be a great place to go for breakfast, the eggs Benedict sauce was great! Now, not the case. It was taken over by the guy that owns Rickys. I hated the hollandaise sauce there and the food was blah with overpricing. Never went back. Now he wants it all to be like Rickyss that had to change locations in red deer twice that I know of. Well so sorry that hes going to run Humptys out of business. (The waitstaff at Humptys are fabulous )

Got lost in a rainstorm visiting red deer and this was the best possible place to find. Excellent waitress even though I only ordered coffee.

We had an awesome time. We had Suzy as our server and she was absolutely amazing. Fast professional and just a very fun person. We will definitely be back!!!

Service has always been great, same with the food. Cannot go wrong with the breakfast scramblers. Update Oct 5/24. Had coffee and scramblers again this morning. Maybe the best Ive ever had. Even the coffee was great! Still my go to breakfast restaurant.

Good value for the price had the quasidilla

I am diabetic and unable to most bread or salad dressing without getting sick. Both the waitress and chef were awesome! They substituted the bread I couldn t eat with extra chicken on my salad. Thank you!!

Today we went there for dinner & sat after giving our orders for 1hr&5min the the girl came & asked if we wanted our bill.... we said no we didnt get our food yet...as it turns out, she hadnt even entered our orders, sooo we said cancel our orders & left , all 5 of us,......

Always very welcoming

Went here about a week ago it was good food! Service was lovely and a young girl who worked there gave my son a little humpty stuffy and it s now his favourite lol staff is super pleasant and helpful would go again Kid-friendliness: Had a clean high chair for my son (9 months) and a menu for him, staff was kind to him and helpful for all of us and I would definitely go again!

The servers was great but my moms salary meal was rotten they didn t accommodate nor even an apooonly only got 1.60 off the bill. Will never go again they remade it but my moms appetite was lost

I m only giving a 1 star cause there was only one waitress running around with no help. The Salisbury steak was rotten. No manager there to delete the meal which wasn t eaten, waitress says she can t without manager there!! Well shouldn t there always be one available!! Very disappointed, this was my sisters choice of place to come for her birthday, waitress said she d give here a free Sundae which we never received either! Unfortunately, this is not a place I ll never come back to!

The Monte Cristo sandwich was the best ever lots of real turkey thick slices of ham and lots of cheese highly recommend it was cooked to perfection as well

Our experience started with the waitress complaint about being the only waitress, and informing us she was going to take awhile to get to us. We waited 20 mins as she attended 1 table. Then she seated someone who entered & took their order. Pathetic. How does this buisness get repeated customers?

Exactly what you should expect. Server was present when needed, table was clean. Food was freshly made and hot. Coffee refilled consistently. Steak and eggs showed up how it was ordered.

Always friendly service and good enjoyable. Seniors discount card as well. Vegetarian options: The perogies are very good, Mac and cheese is nice and the veggies burgers are tasty. Other choices as well. Food : 4/5 |

They try to gas light you into thinking the food is the best thing ever the one server is a lot to handle and you can hear them yelling inappropriately in the kitchen

Probably the cleanest, most well-maintained Humptys I have ever sat in. And the food was very much on par... possibly above par in quality save for the slight lack of originality. And the service was polite, attentive, and quick. Wonderful atmosphere compared to yhe Humptys restaurants we used to have here in Red Deer. Well done and keep it up.

Absolutely a must this place has excellent food the staff was super friendly and they seemed to care about their jobs I would highly recommend this place to eat I think its my new fav in red deer food is a little higher priced but what you pay for you get I was full after my breakfast I usually leave not full from most restaurants I have a big appatite so to leave full very impressed I would eat here every day if I could Parking: I just dont like pulling up to a restaurant and staring at someone while they eat I often order my food and go out for a smoke and wait for the food you can here just dont park near the building so you can have your privacy super good food and staff tho

My son took me for breakfast and we chose Humptys. Such an excellent choice. I loved the eggs Benny and my son had a burger lol but we were both totally content with the meals we got and look forward to going back.

The food is great homestyle cooking. If you like good sized portions this is the place for you. I would give the food 5 stars but its a homestyle place not a fancy restaurant that serves fancy dishes. Its definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Red Deer. Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and for nowadays prices not bad for what you get. I highly recommend Humptys.

Lunch was terrible! We both had burgers that were tasteless, my friends burger he said it tasted like it was scrapings off the pan

I think it was the best experience in a while honestly. And the building wasnt cold for a change! The food was great, the steak could have had a bit better chat but was good, though the coffee always seems to taste burnt no matter when we come, but it fresh and filled often. The service was on point. The waitress was fast, and she was very nice.

Great family restraunt great food good prices

Today was my 1st time trying this restaurant in red deer I have tried it in other towns and this one by far surpassed all the other ones. The restaurant was clean our waitress was amazing and friendly and the food was perfect, hot and fast. Best breakfast in red deer so far for me. I like the diner/ truck stop style breakfasts.

the worst meal Ive ever had. I think they used paste or glue for the potatoes as they were just a clump. The chicken was burned and dry. It will be the last time I buy from there.

We are seated, asked what we want to drink then what for food. We hadnt even picked up the menus yet. When I asked about the 8.99 deal (I saw on the window), she said its only in the morning, i said ok thank you, well check the menus out she just stood there lol We ordered, after looking at the menu, received our meals but both of our meals were missing items. I asked for the missing item, she brought it then we noticed my hubbys was missing 2 items. We asked for them but never received them. We also had to ask for more coffee and water. By that time we were done with the situation so we didnt ask again. For the price of the meals, youd think service would be normal, Id hate to see it when its busy. There were only 6 tables between 2 servers. Wont be going back.

The food is great, and the servers were quick and friendly. But its always cold in there, people always have their jackets on, even in summer.

Food is great taste wise, its hit or miss if the cook actually knows what a soft poached egg is, but theyre really good at medium poached eggs. Service is super and theyre good with kids, if you get one of the older ladies, the younger ones have better things to do, it seems. Overall 3.5/5 Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and booster seats

They keep the newspaper Druthers at the entrance. It has a history of racism, homophobia, and antisemitism, as well as spreading anti science propaganda.

The food was alright, nothing fancy, but filling. The waitresses were kind, prompt and friendly, as they always are. Your staff are excellent and keep us coming back.

Went in twice in the last month seemed like the same grumpy server who told us certain menu items werent made since it was close to closing which Ive never experienced anywhere else before but this time we were there 2 hours before closing she was very unfriendly she came to tell us what we couldnt order then started to walk away we explained we were ready to order 3 times as she still walked away but did turn around amd looked directly at us she came to take our drink order we then said we are ready for our food order as we were trying to say earlier she said oh didnt hear you then glared as she took our order and practically ran away we looked at each other and agreed to leave as we dont wanna spend our money wjere we feel unwelcomed we used to love going here but lately its been going downhill

The food is pretty subpar these days compared to when I was younger. Was t worth what I paid.

Sadly I am giving this a 2 star for my visit. My server Madeline was great which helped bump my rating up. She was really friendly and came around just the right amount of times as to let me enjoy my meal in peace. Th establishment was very well kept and tidy, and the music theme was inviting. However I was throughly disappointed in my meal. I ordered the Humpty s Cristo and the turkey was really dry and the grilled egg dipped bread was also dry. I was hoping that the mozza cheese would have been creamy enough to bring the sandwich back for me but sadly it did not.

New Years day was our very first experience here. Wow! I dont know how else to put it. The food was delicious! The staff were amazing! We will be back again and again. Two thumbs up (Id give more if I had more thumbs haha)

Monte Cristo is a favourite of mine, but occasionally I come for breakfast. Todays sausage and eggs with pancakes was just okay. The sausage doesnt seem as good as it was years ago.

Husband found hair in his food in the waitress just laughed about it and did nothing to improve the situation or give us a free dinner because of it

When we came, it was crowded side on the left and empty in the right. when waitress asked where we would like to sit, I answered that on the right. there was open windows and a lots of space. she said that she just cleaned the floor so we should choose something on right side. there was no sign of the washed floor.. and it was 2 oclock in the afternoon.. I wanted order soup, but they didn t have soup. I wanted order Mac and cheese, they didn t have that, but in menu they had this options. I wouldn t come back.

I ordered eggs benny and they served it with chicken gravey!!!! And when I sent it back the waitress said that is their hollandaise sauce, it was not even close to the same colour or the right consistency and it tasted like chicken gravey.

Susie our waitress was fantastic, very friendly! Food was good. Just a chain dinner, but clean and nice atmosphere.

We decided to go out for supper at the last minute. We choose Humptys because theyre quick and not too expensive. Turned out it was the perfect choice. We both had tasty, quick, very pleasant service. The restaurant was full and very busy, so we were very happy with the speed and sweet service that we got. And our meals were hot and came very fast which was made this trip that much better.

Humptys is generally our go to for a never fail always good breakfast/brunch. Was great as always.

Always tasty

Food was mediocre. My steak was... juicy but lacked seasoning. The side of seasonal veg was yummy, but small. My friends enjoyed their meals, but we wont be making a point to return. Though, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Kid-friendliness: Definitely the type of place if bring Gramma in her walker, with the grandkids.

By far the best service I received at a restaurant so far. They made sure to keep our drinks full and the food came out fast. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The mixed veggies on my plate were the best part. Meatloaf was a little to spicy for me but it was still good. Kid-friendliness: My son had the spaghetti and meatballs. It came out before the rest of the meal. I didnt even ask the staff for it to come first. Im very thankful they did it.

We have gone to Humptys for years however lately new staff that dont have a clue and cant handle more than 1 table at a time I used to be in the service industry and if I worked like that Id be out of a job we will not be back a person shouldnt have to wait over 10 min to order and theres only 6 tables train your staff dont let them on their own til they are competent.. which the ones now are not

Ordered delivery, only got half my order, my steak was cooked decently and then it went downhill. My sautéed mushrooms where only half the amount I ordered, also they were completely uncooked.. I had to sauté them myself.. also missing one of my sides completely..
