So not sure what the actual meat they served as Prime Rib but it certainly was not good. Either it was rotten or say, horse. The server said they she needed to check if it was good at the moment and she came back and said it was. So I had it and I still cant figure out what was wrong with the meat but it was BAD! The rest of our meals was mediocre at best. Dont eat here.

Ive eaten here a half dozen times, its clean and spacious and the servers are polite and attentive. However, Im likely not returning again. The reason is simple, its a steakhouse that specializes in steak and prime rib that has either undercooked or overcooked my steak half of the visits here. Food is good when prepared as ordered and its what youd expect. Since they cant do the one thing correctly and are that inconsistent at cooking a steak I cant justify coming back. Still tipped, still thanked them, but something needs to change in the kitchen.

I took my mom out last Friday night, both of us had the steak and shrimp special with Neptune topping. It was excellent, as usual.

Ordered veal cutlets pleural. Meal came and it was a single tiny cutlet, celery for a vegetable and garlic toast. We re used to Alexander s in Airdrie where you get an amazing meal and enough bel for 2 meals. Servers are amazing and resteraunt is a nice venue, but won t be back. Disappointing pick the Keg , One Eleven or George s in RD for a great meal

We ate lunch here today. Lots of choices on the menu but we were very disappointed in the food. The salad was a cheap bagged salad, the Italian wedding soup tasted like it came out of a can. The mixed veggies were frozen veggies that they reheated. The salmon was dry and poor quality. Good service but cafeteria quality food.

We got the bbq chicken and fish and chips. Chicken was like rubber and over cooked Potatoes were ok but dry Veggies were good Their corn bread rock hard Fish wasnt cooked so sent back, came back again and was still not cooked fully. Got told it was yhe light in the dining room but it definitely wasnt. Called to speak to the manager and all they said is they have the cleanest kitchen in town... but that doesnt mean its cooked right. Both of us got sick. Wont ever be back there

The definition of a restaurant for Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares. Food and atmosphere incredibly outdated. Frozen vegetables and shrimp reheated, too large portions, bagged salad, and far too much going on with the menu. To owners response: no matter what way you cook frozen vegetables, they are still frozen, not fresh. No where on the menu, nor from your server was there an option on how the vegetables are cooked. Regardless of how you cook shrimp, if they were frozen, they taste, and look, like frozen shrimp. Also: no one wants a warm piece of watermelon. It is time to revamp and freshen your menu, or just close the doors.

Wait staff was great and seating comfortable. Food was mediocre with chewy steaks and dry fish. Kid-friendliness: Good choices on the kids menu.

It is hard to review this place because we wait over 10 minutes to be seated and ended up leaving. So that was that. Update: It was around 6:15 pm July 12, 2024. There were three of us standing in the lobby in front of the resturant. I looked in and stood into the dinning area several times. We even had enough time to take a picture of the old waiter statue at the front but none of the servers we saw working that night came by to welcome us.

Dont order the T-bone steak it has lots of Gristle

Service is always good, but th food is hit or miss. This time it was good. I just wish for a restaurant of this reputation they would stop serving frozen vegetables, its really beneath them.

The serving size are HUGE! The food was delicious! We were having a business lunch, so no photos were taken.

We called and asked if we could make a reservation for 8:45. As we knew they close at nine. Wanted to ensure they could still take us that close to closing time. She said that they could take us no problem and we didn t need a reservation as they were empty. We arrived at 8:30 and the doors were locked. We called and she said yup, the manager said if there were no new tables to close the doors. I asked if she told him that we were coming? She just repeated that, he said if no new tables to lock the doors. We had just driven 7 hours. We had pursued the menu, to ensure that we could order right away and were looking forward to a nice meal. Sadly, we were rudely ignored and shut out. The open sign was still on!! I write this sitting at The keg. Great service and great prime rib!! And open until they said.

Before you give your one of your favorite restaurants a bad review, I would call the manager. See if you can make an appointment with him and talk to him in person. Tell him what happen and ask if he could remedy the situation so it wouldn t happen again. If the problem was with the manager, call the owner of the restaurant. If they don t want to fix the problem, and treat you rudely, I guess you could then write the bad review. I do think you owe them a chance to acknowledge, apologize, and fix the problem. You are now looking for a new place to eat if they don t accommodate you,to your satisfaction. Good Luck!

This restaurant has really gone downhill since John died. The only reason we go here is because my husband likes it. Next time I ll send him by himself

Went in with the family for dinner, food was fairly bad. One chicken dish was badly cooked with the breading falling off and soaked in oil, the vegetables were still frozen in the center. The Ranch House is our favourite restaurant in Red Deer and there are a number of food restaurants in this town. Never disappointed. Weve dined in a few times and brought family here from out of town. We all rave about their food and excellent service. The first time we ate here, the waitress gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house, it was amazing. We were surprised by the bill, expected it to be over $100 but it was around $80 for the 3 of us. Soup, salad and a hefty portion for the main course. Didnt leave hungry nor did we feel ripped off. Dont think about it, just go. You wont regret this. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating and engage with small children.

Food was quick and yummy. Service was slow, the server was overwhelmed by a large table. Doing the best she could but the restaurant was under staffed.

Great place to get together and outstanding double Bacon burger combos. We enjoyed a lot with 20 people like never before. Visit again next time.

We celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary at the Ranch House this year. We had no idea our girls planned surprise gifts for us, but our server, Savanah, did an awesome job, serving our drinks and delicious meals. Yes, we will definitely recommend the Ranch House if you like fine dining.

Theres so many idiots with the food I dont know where to start. Its sad the quality of their food has gone down so much. Frozen peas, carrots and corn boiled with no butter is your side with a $40 steak. We ordered the snapper and could smell it before it hit the table and was hard and rubbery like it was freezer burnt. Steal sandwich medium rare looked good except it as hard to chew I mean we all tried a piece and agreed. Only thing thats wasnt complained about was the kids French fries. It was quite unfortunate. We did take in to account the current state of the economy

Hi, I am making a review. You only had 5 stars otherwise I would give more all around. We celebrate our 2nd time at this amazing Steak House. It is our 11th anniversary. The meals we had were exceptionnel. The fire place was beautiful for this occasion. Thanks for rhe greatest hospitalité. The atmosphère was peaceful where we Sat. Its our favorite in town. I had the New-York Strip with Neptune. My husband has Filet Mignon He describes it as the best he ever had. Thanks so much! This was special!

Our boss was taking our crew out to supper and we made a reservation at the Ranch House to try it out as we are not from here. We ended up needing to work a bit later so I moved the reservation to 8 and they said no problem! We showed up and find out that they stayed open a bit later to accommodate our large group! We ended up having a great meal and visit! The T-bone was a bit thin for my liking but absolutely delicious! Some of the other steaks that got ordered looked really good! The filet especially. The server was really on top of her game to look after us all and was prompt with the drink orders. I will definitely go there again! The inside is ranch house style decorating and I felt at home there!

Before I start I must say the waitress we had was great, with that been said my hubby and i had celery cream soup to start which was like watered down milk with a few chunks of celery , no flavor. He had ribs and chicken. He was not happy with his dinner,the BBQ sauce was puree tomatoe with ketchup in it which was all over his meat, fries were dry. I had steak and lobster which the lobster was dry and rubbery my steak was even hard to cut and there was turnup carrots and 1 piece of broccoli, the carrots and turnup was like baby food and the broccoli wasnt even warm never mind cooked,my potato was so cold it didnt even melt better. I dont know if its new owners or what but the last time it was great. We will not b going there again.

Our family had our Christmas celebration at the Ranch House after our reservation was miscommunicated at another restaurant and we were asked to wait for an hour for a table to open up. We called the Ranch House and were able to get in right away! All the servers were friendly n knowledgeable. Very attentive keeping up on beverages. The food was amazing and plentiful n we all left extremely satisfied. I feel we got great food at an excellent price. Definitely be back there. The other restaurants mistake was a huge win for us

Its got a classic look and decently priced really good steaks. However, you cant be serving a side of unseasoned, tasteless, microwaved frozen veggies next to a good cut of meat. Throw a carrot and a couple asparagus spears on the grill and youve instantly upped the quality of the meal. The starter soup and bread were equally as miserable. Theres potential here though because the meat was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Everything else just kind of felt thrown together with no effort.

We re looking for a steak sandwich so decided to give this place a try. Our wishes were filled as the service from the hostess , the waitress and the other staff were very good. Was nice to see them work as a team and help each other delivering the meal and cleaning the tables, everyone working were hustling about doing a fine job. The steak was cooked as ordered , tasty and tender. We will be returning and would recommend to others.

I found this restaurant at the north end of Red Deer. I was amazingly surprised. The decor, ambience, Costner service and the menu choices were excellent . My server recommended the steak sandwich but I asked about the veal cutlet and was advised that it was one of their top choices as well. Have to say it was excellent. It came with a huge side of veggies, garlic bread and some watermelon slices. I will be back again. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank for excellent food and customer service

My husband and I went there for date night and had a great time. The food was great. We werent pestered by the waitress but if we needed anything she was there with it. The wait staff are wonderful. We have gone for lunch there many times and not been disappointed.

Nearly full at supper time on a Saturday, but we were seated quickly and had a very attentive waiter. Specials were good, cocktails were good, and I took home one of the best slices of cheesecake Ive ever had. The decor is a little dated, but it is worth visiting and revisiting. Always my first choice for Steak in Red Deer. The stuffed baked potato is the best! I had a Steak Sandwich which was done perfectly. My friend had the Chicken Maryland, her regular choice and was very satisfied. Under new management/ ownership and nothing has changed in quality or service. Prices have gone up quite a bit, just like everywhere.

The absolute best service Ive ever gotten in my life. Servers were amazing and very friendly. Food was brought out right away. We went at 7pm so was not super busy. Parking was amazing, the food was DELICIOUS. I had the beef wellington and escargot and it was absolutely fantastic. This place is on the more expensive side but it is well worth every penny. If you havent gone here yet you need to!

We stopped here for breakfast this morning and it was a great experience! We had the steak, eggs & hashbrowns. Everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned wonderfully and delicious! The servers are absolutely excellent, they are attentive, fast, kind and on the ball. The decor is beautiful and everything was very clean. Tonight I went to Ranch House with my Japanese exchange student. Jenifer was AMAZING for more than one reason. She was patient in our ordering, very kind and attentive but the bombshell was at the end of our dining when the bill came, I couldn t find either of my cards to pay. (Totally not like me-they are ALWAYS in the same spot) she gave me a few minutes and I dug through my whole pouch of my purse and was panicking! I still couldn t find them and asked if I could e transfer until I could get it sorted and she was trying to insist she would cover the bill. .thank GOD I found the two cards totally in a different part of my purse, still no idea how that happened! But she was SO kind! Annnnd the food was awesome! Thank you

Disappointed in our meals. If you are looking for a senior citizen streak house maybe this is for you. Steaks lacked flavour, waitress had to be asked for drinks. Shrimp on our steak was cold. All our adult meals were terrible.

I had the special steak and shrimp meal. I got the stuffed baked potato too. The meal was hot and prepared well. My issue was the shrimp was bland no flavor light seasoning. I suspect it was boiled instead of fried. I would have liked it to be cooked in butter or oils and some garlic. The steak was cooked well and the flavor was ok. It wasnt one of the best Ive had. It was tender and cut nice. It had mushrooms on it and they were great and the sauce I got was the western sauce.... Why is it a 3$ extra charge for a steak sauce....? The price of the meal was 30$ + 3$ for the western sauce. Thanks tho I will return hopefully I like it better the next time. Parking: The restaurant was busy and the parking lot was nearly full. Took our little one here for dinner on a whim and the service was absolutely incredible, the waitress was so kind to her and made sure that we had the best time possible. The food was outstanding and done exactly as we ordered, my compliments to the chef for making everything perfectly. 10/10 would recommend for anyone and we will definitely be returning for more. I went here for a steak but ended up having prime rib instead. Quality was good, my medium cut was actually medium. Service was good enough. The atmosphere is dated but suitable for a steak house.

So disappointing! Service started out okay and the drinks were yummy. We both ordered steak entrees which included soup and salad but neither ever showed up. When we got our entrees I assumed that the soup & salad must come out at the same time but still they never arrived. We finished our steaks which were just okay and waited for our server. She stopped by our table so I asked if we were mistaken about getting soup & salad with our meal. Brandie G our server just laughed and said sorry she didnt know where they went and moved on like nothing happened. Then she asked if we wanted to order dessert. At that point we just wanted to leave so we asked for our bill. Then for the next 10-15 minutes we were ignored. She went to every table but ours. I thought maybe thats a good thing; maybe she is waiting to talk to the manager about giving us a discount or a free dessert or getting our drinks comped because she screwed up. But no such luck...the bill finally came without a discount and no friendly chat that i had seen her do at all the other tables. So next time we will head to The Keg where the steak and the service are worth the money. Or just go to The Ranchhouse and ask for someone other than Brandie G.

If you want good service check out the Ranch House. If you want good food, keep looking. I ordered the NY strip Oscar and it was easily the worst steak Ive ever had. Although it was cooked to the requested doneness, it completely lacked flavour. First time Ive ever had to put salt on a steak in a restaurant. I suspect that the bernaise sauce was a powder packet that you whisk with water. I should have stayed home, next time I will. Only positive was we had a very nice server.

this was one of the best home cooked feel meals I have had in years. from the kids grilled cheese and pizza to the eggs Benedict to the 1/2 pound ground with the awesome salad soup and side with it. price was excellent for what we got!

Very good foods

Its a time capsule from the 80s. Is the food amazing? No. Is it bad? Also no. Its an old school steak and potatoes restaurant from a different time and thats a okay. Youre going to get great service, a lot of food and basic flavors for a very reasonable price. If youre looking to take your family out for dinner and not break the bank I would also highly suggest this place.

We ordered the escargot to start. It seems the mushrooms were baked right on top of the snails which meant all their liquid just drained out and brought all the flavors to the bottom of the dish. So the actual mushrooms and snails had all their flavor washed off. Try putting the snails and seasonings inside the cap instead. Very bland. I ordered a medium rare steak sandwich and the steak was so thin I dont know how anyone could make it medium rare, which it wasnt. It was well done. But I will say that it wasnt completely dried out. Also our waitress was complaining about her co-workers not doing their job and she was stressed about all the tables she was being sat. At first she said the dill pickle soup was good but then when we didnt order it, she said it was bad anyways.

Same as always, I think its for the older crowd that used to enjoy Smittys but since its closed this has turned into their place, Think of it as a dinner service at grandpas retirement home. And if you believe these 5 star reviews thats on you.

This is one of our go-to restaurants, the food is always good and so is the staff. Recently my husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive. She went above and beyond to make us feel special on our day. Parking: Plenty of parking, but if they are busy, it can be difficult sometimes to find a spot. Kid-friendliness: They offer highchairs, its been so long since weve brought the kids, Im not sure if they have a kids menu or not. Wheelchair accessibility: Extremely accessible to wheelchairs

The Ranch house was always one of my wife and my favourite restaurants. Sadly our last visit changed our view. The food was subpar. The steak was undercooked, and the yorkshire pudding was not cooked properly. The food seemed like it was just thrown together. We couldnt eat more than a few bites. For the price we paid, we expected the high quality we usually receive. I reached out via email to the restaurant to address the concerns we had but received no reply. I do not recommend the Ranch house any longer.

My wife is gluten allergic, and its really hard to find something for her. This place just blew our minds, the food and service was awesome, we love the atmosphere there, its definitely worth to go there, we are very amazed

Its a nice place, friendly staff, the food is good, not great. Might have just been an off day for the kitchen. Id go there again, just on the fact that I wouldnt mind trying another one of their steaks.

Its a good restaurant. Has the feel of a steakhouse and ranch style interior. Weird right, considering its called the ranch house. All joking aside, its a friendly place with good food and great service. It could use some updates, and it feels a bit gimmicky with some of the decor, but dont let that stop you from going here. Id go back again. That steak sandwich was tasty.

We tried the ranch house based on a couple of recommendations. The service was great. The food was okay. It didnt blow our socks off though for the price.

Arrived for supper at 7 on a Saturday evening. Restaurant was packed. Prompt and attentive service - anticipating our every need. I had pork chops. Tender, moist, delicious. Rice pudding for desert was just like I remember Mom made it.

Service was great, and the food was great. Overall it was a very good experience.

Food was amazing as always, and service is always top notch. My only complaint is when my wife and I choose to come here and spend a $100 for our anniversary, sitting at a booth where the seat has to be duct taped, it kinda kills the special mood.

The food has always been good here and meals includes soup and salad. The servers work very hard to ensure you have everything that you want and do it with a smile.

I just wanted to add that when I was driving through Alberta, I had dinner here and the staff were friendly, the food was hot and quick, really great atmosphere and layout was cool. I felt like I was at home, thats how I felt anyways. Great Dinner, thanks guys.

We went to the Ranch House for.my wifes.bithday and we had a waitress Jennifer who was.exceptional at her job. The food would have got a 5 but when I ordered.my steak as medium well it came more like medium rare. The rest of the meal was fantastic and again big props to Jennfier. I also have to say the chef wss told and shown my steak and he also made up for the steak issue. So all in all I would.give the restaraunt a 4.8 in how it handled.everything.

The ranch house is always a pleasure when we go in! We love the staff, and how welcoming they are. Very family oriented. And the owner does an amazing job checking in with patrons about their food! I would recommend the ranch house 10/10!!
