Me and my wife visited this restaurant. We had awesome experience. The food was delicious we ordered one BBQ chicken and Margarita with tomato bisque. We will definitely visit again.

The wood-fired pizza is delicious at a reasonable price. The pasta is overall delicious and the portion is generous. However, the noodles feel overcooked. You may like it depending on your taste, but I liked the al dente level of doneness, so it was disappointing.

So disappointed you changed the Cesar salad dressing to a bland creamy option. Famoso had the best Cesar vinaigrette dressing with garlic and Parmesan cheese it was amazing, the reason why I have come back many times to eat, unfortunately I wont be back.

Our server was wonderful, the atmosphere was pleasant, the food, however, wasn t great. This was our first time, and ordered 3 pizza s. The BBQ chicken was great, but the SICILIANA MEAT LOVERS and SUPREME COMMANDER were ridiculously soggy, drenched in liquids, everything just fell off, and couldn t be eaten like pizza and were basically inedible. Probably will not be back.

Super rude - just walked in and got yelled at by a waitress across the restaurant that they were full. No offer to wait for a table or how long, so just left. Great happy birthday for my friend!

Delicious food and lots of great choices on the kids menu. Our server/waitress was absolutely lovely, she was really kind and accommodating to all our needs. We had a wonderful lunch here.

Good food but was very slow and not that busy. Service was a 3 at best.

Went last Friday to the restaurant with coworkers. The waitress was so rude, she said I m not gonna spend all of this time to take your order on what you gonna drink, I have other tables. My order came too late even other people are halfway with their food, it tastes so weird she didn t even ask if I like it or not, she was ignoring me. When it comes to the bill, I refused to tip her, as she was the rudest person ever, she threw the receipt on the table and hit me on the back of my head. That lady is so racist and disgusting

Such a great place to take the family! The food was delicious 10 out of 10, The mozza balls are delicious and my favorite pizza is The Cavalletti! To die for, I get both every time. Brandie was our server, she was very polite, professional and attentive to what we needed. Brandie was very friendly, She made us feel comfortable and welcome. Ruined the mothers day dinner for us. One pizza tasted burnt. Two were soggy and watery. The service sucked.

Can t fault the food or service, both excellent. The background music was a bit loud and at times we struggled to hold a conversation. However, although a distraction, it did not spoil our meal.

Famoso consistently surpasses expectations with its welcoming staff, always smiling, and serving fresh, tasty pizza. I wholeheartedly recommend it and will definitely return for another meal.

Our family s favourite spot for lunch with two small kids. The food quality is always exceptional and consistently good. The happy hour menu is great too.

I used to love this place when the old owner owned it. But with the new owners the place has gone down hill. Staff arent really attentive. Rolling eyes when they didnt get a massive tip for their lackluster service. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The table was sticky and the food that used to be amazing was cheaped out on and not even good. The salad was so drowned in dressing that it was gross. Definitely will not be going back.

The restaurant has a central location and plenty of parking. Quickly, I was seated and having my order. The menu is easy to read, despite all the Italian words. I had the lunch promo, and my company had a 12 pizza. The portion size was good enough for me, while my friend saved three slices for later. The service worked fine as possible. I recommend this place.

Great food, great service! Went for lunch with a friend around 3pm. It was quiet, service was great, food was really nice and the tiramisu was wicked! Definitely on my list now of places to go to enjoy a nice meal.

Recently, some ingredients I had paid for in order to be on my pizza did not show up on my pizza and my pizza was unfortunately stuck to the box. With the price of food and delivery these days it was disappointing. But what wasnt disappointing was how the restaurant handled my phone call. Specifically Amanda.I called the restaurant and spoke to her and she immediately went straight to apologizing and then told me how it could be corrected. Not only could skip reimburse me and correct the issue but that she was happy to give me a gift certificate to cover the cost of the issue I had. She was incredibly friendly and polite and kind and empathized the problem and wanted to fix it immediately. I use a wheelchair and she was even willing to meet me outside when I got to the restaurant and pass me the gift certificate and rectify the situation. There are really big terrible problems in the world, this is something minor but if customer service falls apart completely its a ripple effect of frustration and disappointment and no one wins in the end. Thank you so much Amanda for how you handled this situation and how you went above and beyond!

Went there on a Sunday Afternoon for cocktails. So a fancy place and all the cocktails tasted so well. And the beautiful lady who served us was so sweet. Great Job Food

I had great experience during my visit at famoso red deer . The service was outstanding. Owner was amazing he personally served us. He is very kind and cheerful. Me and my wife loved the delicious food. Their pizzas tastes were exact like Italian pizzas, food was fresh and warm. I prefer to visit there again.

Authentic Italian pizza - it was unbelievable! The tomato soup was outstanding and the pizza was the best and closest to a real Italian pizza I had in Canada so far. I took some tiramisu home and it was extremely delicious as well! The waitress was a bit slow that day, we had to wait quite a while to be served by her, but the guy (boss/manager?) was very friendly and attentive!

Great atmosphere, food is OK, took out a bottle of wine but came out with cork from a different bottle. Threw it out the garbage after. Nasty.

I love, love the pizza at famoso. I am surprised that a franchise like Famoso would allow the manager to be yelling loudly and crazily at the staff. This ruins the nice dining experience. No managers should be yelling at any staff in any industry let alone in front of the customers where atmosphere is a part of the experience. We felt so bad for the staff. Just unbelievable!

The place is very good, the staffs attention is excellent, the tomato soup is delicious. However, the pizza that they gave us did not seem good to me, because it was not well cooked for my taste.

Famoso is the best pizza! We love the atmosphere and the prosciutto mozzarella balls. We went this evening and Adam was our server and he made our visit amazing. He is very friendly, kind and funny!! The Bacon wrapped Mozzaballs and the Pizza was very good. The Tiramisu not so much in comparison to what it used to be. There was no coffee flavor in the what was suppose to be ladyfingers. The ladyfingers were more a cake than anyrhing

We are a party of four trying new or new to us restaurants each month and this was our pizza place to try. We are VERY happy with our choice. We all chose a different pizza and then shared so that everyone got to sample each one. We chose the cavoletti, the Quattro formaggi, the pepperoni and cheese and the capricciosa. All of them were delicious but by far our favourite was the cavoletti. Who knew that brussel sprouts, dates, walnuts, ham and honey was OMG good!! We were stunned. Amazing!! After that we HAD to try some desserts and again all weee good but the banana dolce was MIND BLOWING!! Wow!!

Great pizza joint. Not what you would expect in Red Deer. Rivals the best found in bigger cities. Definitely worth a stop for lunch or dinner. Thin, light and full of flavour. The only knock is that they offer pineapple on pizza.

We went for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised by how family friendly the place was! The kids menu was perfect, and I loved the stools in the washrooms to help the kids use the sinks. The service was fast and food was hot and tasty.

We ordered pick up on our way through to Pine lake and our absolutely in love with this place. The food, decor and amazing staff. Cannot wait to drive through Red Deer again. This place will be our new regular stop.

I usually keep it simple when it comes to za so i orderd the peperoni and it was as awesome as i had remembered. But the real winner here was the Cavoletti..... seriously one of the best pizza pies Ive ever had. Always a welcoming atmosphere here with good hosts.

Got the margherita pizza for takeaway. Decent pizza, however the high points from rising pizza dough had been burnt by the oven and unfortunately ruined the taste for 3/4 of the slices. I d recommend getting a pizza with more toppings to reduce the chance of having portions of burnt dough.

Amazing food , especially i am vegan, I had the option for vegan cheese and also they have gluten free menu. I was thrilled with my visit at this restaurant. Service was outstanding. My food only cost me 35$, i found it very affordable for the families. Now i saw they added bunch of new pizzas . I would love to try those as well. I had awesome experience.

Great food, good service

Poor service. Missed two orders, an appetizer and one meal. The waitress didnt eben recognize that a member ddintget their meal. Didnt ask about refills or water. Very slow. They did give us the meal for free after I complained. The waitress was beyond caring. I think she was high. The food was good but basic.

I must admit, I do not like pizza all that much, and yet the flavours are unique, interesting, and worth trying! Anytime my mother goes out, she mentions Famoso. It is well loved, and the owner is awesome. I recommend this place for all the pizza lovers of the world.

Great food and staff, have been going for years now and only had poor service twice(sadly two weeks ago was last one)I feel I should update this review, we are regulars at this particular restaurant (every Saturday for lunch) two years ago it was great food and service and I stand by that inital review, unfortunately I had to knock a star off due to some changes, two weeks in a row the meat lovers pizza arrived wet and soggy and had to be sent back to cook a bit more, today I had the linguine and meatballs but was not informed that they were not the pork and ricotta ones until I asked after the meal and was informed thst they were on back order(?), I was under the impression that they were home made and ordered in, the replacement ones were very below the standards we are used to and tasted like they came out of a can of chef boy r dee and had no flavour other then poor quality pork, if I was a food critic and not just an average person who has been going for years this review could be worse. I would have liked to be informed that the meatballs this time were not the same ones and maybe a few bucks knocked off in compensation until they can make the other ones once again, as for the pizza a soggy wet watery pizza is well below the standard with the toppings sliding off and not even dry enough for them to not all come off in one bite. Sorry for the removal of a star but it seems like corners are being cut that were not in the past. 4/16**update** things seem to be back up to par great food attentive staff (staff were always attentive I might add) not that we stopped coming but we are enjoying the atmosphere once more, look forward to coming back next weekend!

After a very long trip from home (Vancouver)to Red Deer we had an amazing dinner at this restaurant. Food was fresh, hot and very tasty. The gentleman who greeted and served us was AWESOME!!! Excellent customer service!! Highly recommend this restaurant. You wont be disappointed.

First time diners at Formosa and we can say we were extremely happy with the pizza and quality and the way it was cooked and presented. We didn t realize it was a chain until after but have to say will definitely stop in again. Not usually a fan of chain restaurants in general but Formosa s pizza was enough to say we will come again.

Pizza is absolutely delicious. They have an individual pizza combo that s not terribly expensive either.

We are italian and I truly think for us is the best pizza in Alberta! We always enjoy come here and taste the original taste of italian mozzarella and pizza! Great place!!!

Would be 5 stars but they are understaffed. The Tom bisque is more creamy here and they mix the hummus and Taziki into 1 dish (ask for separate with Mediterranean bread if thats what you like) Red wine I recommend the Castillo.

Wow! My son had won a gift certificate from my others sons fundraising auction to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Famosa had donated a free meal for six for the auction. We went in today to use the gift certificate and our whole meal and drinks were free! We had the choice of anything on the menu! Sara, our waitress, was so lovely!! Thank you to Famosa for a wonderful lunch put with my awesome family!

Awesome pizza, epic service. Aug 2022, this is an update to the previous review. As there is not enough information here to show how awesome Famosos is. We appreciate the friendly staff, the super boss that we see working the floor with the best of them. My wife and I especially like the Margherita pizza that they serve, we always add fresh cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, kalamata olives, and minced garlic. Mind you the garlic is pickled and we always want fresh, but I will conceed that the taste is still excellent. Heres to another amazing year for these guys, keep going to this restaurant, keep them busy, keep them open! We love your staff, and great atmosphere.

We were so excited to have a kid free night and order from a restaurant that the kids would normally protest (they are basic, basic children when it comes to eating). Our food via take out wasn t what we were expecting. The customer service following was amazing and very appreciated. Just based on that I will give Famoso 5 stars!

Nice place to bad there menu is next to none and the only appetizer that was on the menu they were out of.

We ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza with the roasted kale and Beet Salad. The salad was delicious with fresh ingredients, the pizza was slightly disappointing as it was lacking something, Ingredients were all fresh and cooked perfectly however it was missing something to bring it all together if it had a balsamic vingrette drizzled over I think it would have been perfect.

Was not what I expected pizza was dry no sauce an worst tasting pizza Ive had will never go back an well overcharged for what got most of it went to garbage...very disappointed

Love this place. It has been consistently good. Menus are regularly updated to keep things fresh while some things stay the same for all the favorites. Service has been excellent regardless who you get as a server. To me this shows good management and training. Keep it up! Amazing as always!

Famoso has been my favorite restaurant hands down since day one. The food is always incredible and Ryan is the best. But I continue to keep getting stuck with the same server who is extremely rude and unfriendly. To be honest she almost ruins my experience every time I am served by her. When I was in this week, once again she was my server and was very unfriendly, even while training a new employee. And for whatever reason she was refusing to give me my bill while my friend was paying for her meal. At this point I would rather just place an order for pick up then have to deal with her again.

Had a pizza there got extra extra cheese and it still came with barely any and was vary soggy wasnt a great experience lol

Ordered take-out and had to wait a little longer for the food because they were still busy, even though it was close to closing time already. It was not a big deal for us since we weren t in a hurry anyway, but the staff still kindly gave us a gift as we had to wait which was not necessary on their part as we didn t mind waiting, but we greatly appreciate the gesture. Excellent customer service!

Best pizza, pasta anywhere.

Never open when their hours state otherwise. They keep getting rid of pizzas I used to enjoy. Overpriced soups, sandwiches and pizza. Food is delicious but over rated. Things always keep changing here. I used to be a regular customer but now I dont know if I will come back again. Unless you bring back the pizza that had creme fraiche, fior de latte, roast chicken, corn salsa, cilantro, avocado with Valentina hot sauce. It was delicious! Please bring it back!?

Great servers and tasty pizza!!!

I have eaten here many times and since covid hit, had delivery many times as well. Although the pizza is best when eaten in house, right after it comes from the oven, I highly recommend the pizza here. The vesuvio pizza is my favourite. It was given to me one time by accident as they had made the wrong pizza. The owner came over and told me it wasnt what I had ordered and offered it to me as a complimentary and I was not disappointed. The Mediterranean Flatbread is also a staple and the hummus is by far the best Ive had anywhere. I have read some of the reviews on here, mainly the 1 star reviews and none of these are at all a representation of what this place is. I think these are mostly people who just love to complain and are probably rude to serving staff wherever they go. Famoso is by far my favourite pizza place. Try the tomatoe bisque as well. So good.

Amazing food, the most delicious pizza in town ! The owner is professional

Were from out of town (Ontario.... dont judge us). Coming in town for the night we felt like pasta and were staying at a local hotel. We ordered through Skip The Dishes and were blown away by the flavor and presentation. Next time were in town, well definitely be stopping in! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Famoso is one of our regular favorites in Red Deer! Ryan and the crew are always so accommodating to kids and the food is always incredible. Patio is great and whenever we get Amanda as our server, she remembers our sons name and treats him so kindly. Highly recommend this spot for a date night or delicious family dinner!

I had a sandwhich(i think it was called the wiseguy) and tomato bisque. It was tasty and hot. Everyone else had individual pizza which they said was ok . Would do a sandwhich and soup there again but maybe not the pizza.

i would chose their flatbread and hummus over my first born i think. it s that good.

Haven t been here in years.. pizza was good but then charged me $2 for a side of old cilantro that didn t even smell or taste like cilantro?? Um ok I just paid $21 for a pizza.

The manager was very rude to us rolling her eyes when we tryed to order . After covids damage to the economy we are trying to support our local restaurants whenever we can if she doesnt appreciate her customers she shouldnt be there. We would only come back if she is gone. The rest of the staff were great.

Great place and food . Awesome service. Loved the bruschetta appetizer and the tiramisu. Almost gave it 4 stars only because the pizza didn t have the true leopard spotting on the crust ( wich is the signature look for Napoletana pizza). I have been a huge fan of Famoso since the day they opened in Red Deer. It has been my go to spot for my birthday dinner, lunch with co-workers, and other special events. I planned a big moving away party for my brother a few years ago and the staff and management were extremely helpful and accommodating to ensure we all had a great time. I have never had an issue with the food, whether its the pizza, salad, soup or a starter, its always been phenomenal. I have read other peoples reviews where they are unhappy with the pizza, but Famosos pizza is not your typical Canadian pizza, which is why I love it. So if that is what you are expecting here, you are at the wrong place. The staff have always been very kind and wonderful and the manager Ryan is definitely the most important piece that brings everything together. I will always come back to Famoso again and again.

We ordered 2 12 inch pizzas so we had leftovers to take home. It was thin crust and hard to pick up to eat.Quality ingredients. Our only complaint was it was really noisy as it is a great family with kids destination. Service was great by Amanda that explained our menu choices. This is the best pizza in town with unique ingredients. This is where we go when we want to go out for pizza as a family. The gelato is authentic and just as delicious

Last Friday was able to use the free 12 pizza coupon but supposedly not allowed now. I waited all day, was going to buy the half price wine as well since you cannot get that item without an order; guess not. My day was long and exhausting, was really looking forward to this evening, had planned it all day. Not going to bother with dine-in. Going to go order from Piccolos.

there among the very few places ive been to outside of italy who can make truly authentic italian food. Food is high quality and great .

The Neapolitan pizza is excellent and so is the roasted tomato soup but the take out soup quantities are very disappointing...half a bowl

This is the closest thing I can find to authentic Italian pizza here in Canada! Real Italian pizza has ruined Canadian pizza for me ever since I had it such a long time ago on my Italy vacation. I finally found my fix here! Love the Abruzzo pizza!

Messed up my order

I stopped at the restaurant with my wife and 2 kids , at 8:45 pm on Monday, they told me they already closed , although they are marked as (open )at google web , and (open ) at skip the dish application , the door was open , there was 3 of their staff in , keep looking to each other s waiting for their boss to decide , I talked to the lady , who was looks the one in charge , she said we are closed for the day , and by the way the sign on the door indicate that their hours till 10 :00 pm , I ll not go there again or recommend it to any body , it was unprofessional, I am really disappointed, and do not recommended to any body !

Authentic italian pizza

Wouldn t order without going in and checking the order. Had mozzarella on the dairy-free pizza ordered...along with a hair. Not the most appetizing.

I worked alongside Ryan and his team at Famoso at a wedding awhile ago and they were awesome. Their food/service was top notch and they went out of their way to help me wherever they could. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely some delicious pizza

Not sure why but I get the impression im not welcome in this establishment, I pulled up one day, walked In and the entire staff were staring at me Iike I had murdered a bunch of of kittens. Im gonna go get some neck/face tattoos so I can blend in next time .

The staff was super friendly and very helpful in describing the pizzas and drink specials. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. You can even see the oven they brought over from Italy to make the pizza in! We had a lovely time. I highly recommended this restaurant. Must try.

Best pizza joint in Red Deer. Hands down number 1. Try the cavioleti.

Unreal food and environment. Even my vegan friend that was blown away on the delicious pizza. The pizza is by far the best in red deer. Great pizza and the best draft in the city! I will be back soon.

Weve been in Canada for almost 9 months now, always looking for a pizza at least similar to the italian one, one of the things we miss the most of our land. Today our search is finally over! We didnt find a pizza similar to the italian one, weve found THE original italian pizza. Just like home! It really tasted like home. The service was AMAZING, just like the food. Weve heard of the proverbial Canadian kindness even back in Italy , but we thought it was something a little bit exaggerated. Now we think it is an understatement. The staff was lovely, super helpful, charming and very kind. We will definitely come back. We already miss you! Thank you so much! Grazie mille!
