ABC Country Restaurant in Red Deer

The food is decent but service is not the best. I was standing at the wait to be seated sign for more than 10 minutes and no one greeted me, if I had not called I will probably wait another 10 or 20 minutes for picking up an online order. I see they are a bit busy tonight but I think it s good practice to have a server check the front once every few minutes, because if I were to dine in today, I would just walk away after being left there for that long.

The atmosphere was so great it felt like home. The food was awesome and the server was polite and check on us on a regular basis

Filthy, the washrooms are so dirty toilets, dirt in the corners. There is dirt on the ledges all the way down the booths near the floor. Dirty light shades. We have been regulars for a few years but I never seen it so gross. If the front is this dirty, wonder what the kitchen looks like???

Never thought to take a photo of my plate. Ordered the eggs and bacon with hash browns. Basted soft. Well, the order took forever and the eggs came well done and bacon was almost black. A good portion of the hash browns were burnt to the point they were uneatable. If it had been our server to bring us our meal she may have noticed the mess but the person that brought the meal was gone before I could say anything. And our server did not return until my husband was finished his meal. Needless to say we wont be back. Yea, they adjusted the bill but that doesnt make up for a crappy lunch.

10 minutes wait to be seated. 10 minutes wait for our waitress to make her first appearance. 10 minutes wait for coffee + 10 minutes wait after dropping off coffee Ill be right back to take your order. 35 minutes wait on food. After an hour and fifteen minutes we get to eat mediocre breakfast. Waitress never returns. Not even once. Coffee remains empty. Bill never arrives. Plates sit dirty. Have to go up front and have the hostess call her up to get her to bring the bill. Would not recommend.

This is my friend and I main place to go for a lunch date we go at least once a week we usually have the same waitress an amazing lady she knows our orders with out asking and I would recommend this place for anyone! Until today that is! I went in with my son son lunch this afternoon the waitress we got was not very nice she took a long time to come ask us what we want to drink she never refilled my sons pop nor my coffee when asked! Once we got our food she didn t come back for 20 mins to check on us! And today my food was super greasy which again never happens but it was a one off I guess so I tried to tell my waitress she tried to dismiss my feelings than just grabs my plate and doesn t ask if we want anything else or dessert just bring the bill and throws it on the table I than asked for a dessert for my son and I asked for a piece of flapper pie I order this every time I come and you have two options of sizes today I paid for the larger piece of pie but one received the senior size which is 3.99 roughly but I was charged 6.99 I was to nervous to tell my waitress this because she made me feel so uncomfortable with the problem about my food I can t say I won t be back because usually I have amazing service but I do not ever want to be helped by this lady again and I shouldn t have to be afraid to ask why I m being charged more than what I got that is not ok so for future please make sure you do your job proper so someone else doesn t have this same experience you are working with the public please take there feelings in consideration as we are paying for our food!

My dad loves this restaurant so we go often. Have noticed the service hasn t been the greatest. Constantly having to wave down our waitress to ask for basic services and the food isn t as good as it used to be. Bring back plain chocolate pie! The restaurant is nicely decorated in a western flair and the bathrooms are really cute as well, but need better lighting. Just a thought but if you are seating elderly patrons, don t make them walk all the way to the back of the restaurant. If there is seating up front, close to the entrance, use them. Also fix your automatic doors for wheelchairs please. Wheelchair accessibility: The buttons to automatically open the entrance doors do not work.

First time there and the last time there. Service was horrible, and the place wasnt even busy. Waited over 10 min and no server. Very unfriendly. I dont recommend this place at all. Also, it is way overpriced and rude atmosphere. Everything there is extra, want cheese, when it is usually made with cheese. EXTRA! want service, I guess thats extra to. This is the same restaurant thats associated with Rickys. Lost my business there, too. Oh ya, when I polity ased for a booth, the greater rolled her eyes and and said, I guess. Obviously, she didnt want to be there. Im sure the reply will be! So sorry that you had a bad experience at our restaurant, I hope you come back and try us again. Im sure we can make this right. Had a great Cajun chicken salad yesterday.Good server,friendly and efficient. Food was so good the last time my family went ,I looked forward to going back. My only complaint was the greeting or lack there of by the hostess seating people.She never said hello,welcome or anything but how many?to the group in front of us. Then I walked up and said hello to which she replied how many? Otherwise its a great place to eat.

This place used to be great. However within the last year this place has really gone downhill. The food is mediocre and the prices are very high. Over the last year went multiple times and every time I was disappointed more and more. After a break, decided to give it one more chance. Well, I won t be going back again. The sandwich was ok, but had to pick pieces of the lettuce off. Got a side salad that was all rusty and could not eat any of it. When you pay 20 dollars for a sandwich and salad, you expect to be able to eat the food that is given to you,. The manager listened to my concerns and did comp the meal, and I appreciate the service and willingness to make it right. That being said I will not be returning.

Had chicken pot pie it was good but I was still hungry after not very big for 21 dollars My mother had liver and onions it was what she wanted all day her first attempt had cold mashed potatoes and veggies and the liver looked like it was cooked last week tough hard to cut second attempt comes out liver looked very tender but it was way under cooked this time same cold veggies and mashed potatoes I am very disappointed in the way the restaurant has gone down hill these past few months usually amazing food but the past few visits have been disappointing. Trying to get a refill on pop was very hard I had to physically go up and ask for a refill

This is my family s favorite restaurant in Red Deer ! It s truly a great place , awesome food and service .try the pulled pork soup it s fantastic!

It used to be my favorite but the frequency of my visits have rapidly decreased over the past 6-12 months. Its been taking 10-20 minutes after being seated just to get to order a drink. Another 5-10 minutes pass as we wait for drinks even if they are just water. Solution, at least have the hostess bring water for everybody. The gluten free buns are crap. They used to be good. There are also less gluten free options. Solution, if youre going to limit the previous gluten free options at least purchase good gluten free buns. They take too long to show up with the bill. Waiting to be able to pay so you can continue your day is disappointing. Solution, dont have the majority of the staff cleaning up the buffet while people are waiting for drinks, food and to pay. I used to want to go here once a week and now its past the middle of March and Ive only been once this year. Please improve the gluten free options and the service. Its friendly, its just remarkably slow. Slow enough to ruin the experience.

We had the best service there tonight. The food was really good. Nice job ladies.

ABC Restaurant had been recommended to us so we thought that we would give it a try. I ordered perogies and sausages from the Seniors menu. The manager brought out my food, placed it in front of me, walked away, then came back and took the food out from in front of me and delivered it to someone else! He indicated that he had given me a full order instead of the Seniors menu portion and that his cooks would be very unhappy with him if he gave out the wrong order. From the size of it, I truly thought that I had received the reduced sized order. He then returned with a plate that contained 4 perogies and two small lengths of sausage. When questioned about the amount that I was given for $16.50 he went into a discussion about the cost of food and that this is how restaurants work. We then asked our server about it, who said that she needed to talk to her manager. She returned and indicated that they would make me another half order but that I would not get the piece of pie that came with the Seniors menu. They brought out another half order with no additional sour cream. I was charged for a full order of the meal and the manager never returned to our section of the restaurant again. The food itself was good, our server did the best that she could but the manager was very unimpressive. We will not be returning.

Best breakfast in red deer hands down! Me and my fiance are huge foodies and are always exploring places to eat. We came across this place and it was heaven big portions, great price and my shredded hasbrowns were crispy! It was adorable with all the decor for Christmas and the server was probably the best server we have had in years. She was attentive and friendly. Thank goodness this restaurant exists for breakfast and brunch!

This was our first visit. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. The Christmas decorations were fun and enjoyable. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a booth. It took longer than we thought it should have to place our order and then to finally get our food-closer to 30 minutes. But it was worth the wait, because when the food came, it was on large plates, you know the, theres no way you can eat it all, size. I had perfectly crisp bacon, French toast, home fries and 2 eggs. Yummy! There was homemade Saskatoon berry jam, and I got a large carafe of tea just for myself. Dont get me started on the sour dough bread-tastey! Even though it was crazy busy, we could still enjoy a nice conversation.

Decided to stop in for a bite to eat, hadnt been there in years. Server was short and unfriendly, took our order, was simple appetizers, took a while but they were pretty busy but still once we got our cold food we never seen the waitress again, she never came back to ask if we needed anything or to see if all was ok, def would have sent back most the food but didnt want to wait another 20 mins, so instead we ate the cold food and sat and waited ..wanting our bill. So we asked another waitress. Then once our waitress returned with the bill, again she was short. Gave a Im sorry I didnt come back, Worst customer service/food Ive recieved in a long while. Def wont be coming back

Food was good. Very busy tonight. Our waitress was pulled to wait on 3 reservations. So we then got ignored. No refills no is everything ok. After the meal waiting 30 minutes I finally asked for my dessert. Waited another 40 minutes and asked for my bill. It is one thing to be busy but being ignored is another.

We decided to try something different other than your usual places, and let me say, dont think we will be back. We were seated quickly, amazing, but then it started with the coffee downhill tasted like burt with a tad of old in it. The waitress took our order and then stayed away. She was polite but once our food came they said the toster ate it but 10min later after we had our food it came. I asked for over easy eggs. Well, I got over hard eggs. My food was cold and I mean cold. I couldnt eat my potatoes they were not cooked. Pancakes were rubber, and not once did our waitress ask us how everything was. I can say hands down will never give them my service or recommend ever. Thanks for the horrible experience. For being Easter weekend it seemed very unprepared. No eggs for a long time had to ask three times for them. Breakfast buffet options were very limited as buffet options were empty. More lunch options than there was breakfast. Plates were dirty. Very disappointing. Not worth the $23/person when we were only able to eat about $6.00 worth of food.

Pleasant place for breakfast

Service was great, lots of servers working so no waiting. Food was good wife had perogies and loved them. My brother-in-law and I had the Salisbury steak and found it over cooked it was still tasty.

The Seniors Menu, which includes a slice of Cream Pie, had 12 choices. Today I choose the Pot Roast Dinner, it was very satisfying. The serving size was filling and the price is affordable. Great wait staff, friendly and kept the coffee filled.

Basic but yummy food, servers were great and on top of helping with anything and meals came fast. Was loud for myself with autism, busy as well. Good place to take kids if busyness and noise arent a concern. Kid-friendliness: Family environment. Noise could be a concern, defiantly at lunch rush, if anyone has noise sensory concerns.

I got a hamburger and lasagna plus pie. They forgot the dressing for my salad, they didnt deliver my pie. The food was absolutely disgusting. No flavor, mushy, just gross. I do not why this restaurant has a higher rating. Its food is less better than something I could pick up at a gas station.

I have been coming here every single weekend for the last couple months. Food is always amazing and the service is too. They always remember us and our (slightly complicated) order. I love it here, best breakfast place in town hands down.

I decided I would order supper for myself on Friday night. BLTC salad always a great choice. Also coconut cream pie. I NEVER get dessert. I was really looking forward to this. Taste wise it was good just not good price wise as the portions were very reduced. I bet the pie was no more than 11/2 inch across and maybe 21/2 long. The salade was reduced by at least 1/3. This cost me $28 and change. I will NEVER order take out from there again.

The food was good, the service was good, the restaurant was packed. But I am in a wheelchair and the ladies room while neat otherwise, the handicapped stall throne was filled with something that was hidden under paper hand towels. It made for a less than stellar ranking. Parking: Strip mall environment, Wheelchair accessibility: I generally wheel myself, but I was glad I had family to push me across the parking lot, but the restaurant is totally accessible, the layout is booths with a permiter of tables, aisles wide enough to wheel with ease.

Food is restaurant good but the cranberry sauce is jam not cranberry, disappointed with the sauce.

Well honestly the food I ordered was good It was the crumble I wasnt impressed with She said fresh out the oven I laughed and said microwave oven maybe then proceeded to tell her Gordon Ramsey would not approve It was runny Hardly any crumble The fruit looked like puree you would feed a baby Would not order that again

The atmosphere was great but the food needs work. We understood that they were short staffed so that would account for the long wait before being seated. We ordered our food it was under seasoned, the fresh vegetables were frozen veggies. The chicken was very bland and tasted off. Their apple pie was underbaked, but on the other note there flapper pie was heavenly. Would recommend for dessert.

This place was a total surprise to me! A friend suggested it for breakfast today, and so I went. I have never been here before, and was really impressed with atmosphere, service, prices, and food. Its a family restaurant with a cozy country atmosphere, a nice mix of comfort foods with healthy options too, and staff was very friendly and attentive. I had a really good brisket sandwich for breakfast! I recommend! If youve never checked this place out, give it a try.

The waitress asked how the food was before we got started eating, then didnt check again. 3 people walked by our dirty plates multiple times and didnt pick them up. We ordered steaks, the were super chewy, a $4.29 extra charge for a couple of sliced mushrooms. $64 meal - totally disappointing !!!

Been coming here for a year and a half as a regular every few weeks. Been a steady decline from really good to always having issues. Today was the last time well be there. Constant food issues with potatoes being cold and sausages old and hard to chew. We had Ashley as a server whom we never had before. She didnt ask for refill until food came and refilled one drink. Didnt ask once how our food is which I had to spit out the sausage cause it was so chewy and we had to get up and find her to pay the bill as we had to go to work. I didnt tip, because she didnt take care of us at all (others brought our food out and filled our coffee) and even while I paid, she didn t ask how everything was when my plate was full of food. She quite literally threw my debit receipt at the table when I had my hand out and refused to say good bye when she saw I didnt tip. I was a server and bartender for many years and would never behave like so. Childish.

roast beef, boiled cabbage, carrots, and mashed potatoes...very very good...the simplicity of the cabbage with salt and pepper was phenomenal and Lemon Meringue pie to finish this Seniors meal overall rate 10/10

Firstly, this is penne noodles covered in nacho cheese sauce - not mac & cheese. You should change this to Nacho Average Mac n cheese and add nacho chips to the top instead of green onions. Just an idea.

Sorry guys, prime rib dinner review.... Sent back as I could not cut the meat...either dull knife or tough meat....maybe both? No horseradish .. A substitute was served. Server was great but upset by end of my experience. I felt bad for her. Spoke with manager/owner. Paid bill. Ill be back. As Im confident it was a one-off.

The food was awesome, and i have been there a couple of times. However, my sever shrugged off that i had celiac disease and was quite rude. She was also ignoring us quite a bit, so i think ill come back at the lunch time instead of the evening. Update: I gave abc another try again today, and once again i got sick. This place is not celiac disease friendly, and since im sick again i am so upset. Not only that my partner got sick. My friend also ordered eggs Benedict and he send it back because it was over cook, when it came back its was still abit raw. I will now no long step one foot in that restaurant, not only that i couldnt do anything else for the rest of the day.

My dining partner and I had the brisket sandwich which was the special of the day and man, was it awesome! This is the third time Ive eaten at ABC and each time the food has been so good but the brisket sandwich really was phenomenal.

Have been going to this restaurant for many years, I cant believe how it has gone down in food quality. Ordered a take Thanksgiving Dinner, what a joke for the price they charge , no cranberry sauce; not dinner bun; no fresh veggies, frozen ones, they probably get from Walmart ; Kind of sad as this use to be a good place to eat before it changed owners.

Great breakfast and friendly service.

A little slow needed more servers. That being said the servers working did their very best to keep up. They explained the situation making it a much better evening. Will for sure go there again. Must have been one of those nights.

Old school restaurant, great food.. absolutely loved the meatloaf. Waitress was prompt and friendly.

Food was decent, nice portion sizes. Service was fast and waitress was friendly. Breakfast here is a must you get so much food and its yummy. Eat the pies you wont be sorry!

Always good food, service is good but it gets busy and slows down some. Overall a great place to eat.

Have eaten at ABC many times.usually it is quite good. Tonite was very different. Had to wait almost 10 minutes just to be seated. Waitress was not pleasant at all. When food came it was cold, not what we ordered and the corn was old and very tough. It was not at all the service or food that we have gotten in the past. Also the ledges between the booths had an inch of dust laying on them.

The first restaurant I tried in Red Deer. The food was fantastic. I had a burger and onion rings. The bacon on the burger was very good. I would recommend this restaurant and I would definitely go back.

Good food and good service.

The waitresses in training spilled coffee on the table and we were very understanding. She was very good and brother refills however we decided we werent going to have food and settled on the coffee the coffee ended up costing us $8 what does it come to when a coffee ends up costing two seniors $8. I told my mate it was a good thing we didnt order any food. If I were you I would stay clear of here

Generally I have had awesome food here. I never complain but unfortunately I have to say the server was fantastic...but (Fish and chips ) my meal was cold, and very seaped in grease and horrible tasting...never had this experience here ever....its too bad I enjoyed my visits here. Time to take a break

My husband and I have been here multiple times for breakfast, and are normally quite impressed. We had a group booking this evening, and was very disappointed with the service and food. We had to ask to order drinks, and was rarely checked on. Generally, our group found the food to be quite poor. The bread on my sandwich was very hard, I barely ate it. Although, the private room for the booking was quite nice. Perhaps quality is different from breakfast to dinner? If this was our first time here, we wouldnt come back.

Huge portions and reasonable pricing. Cannot recommend enough. Call for reservations on weekends.

This is one of my favorite breakfast restaurants .. You can actually get some deluxe pan fried potatoes here ! And thats a treat thats hard to find anywhere Food

ABC Bennies were good. My friend had fish and chips. Coffee was good. Was a little pricey. Seniors rate is same as regular. Seniors fish and chips comes with 1 pc of fish for $18.00. And $20 for bennies.

Other than the fish being a little greasy, everything was great.

The brunch buffet was very good but the Christmas decor was fantastic. The service was great and thoughtful.

We Came to have the Sunday buffet. The food looked ok when it was made available. All the breakfast items in the buffet were scavenged thru and empty with no real care about restocking items. Scrambled eggs empty. Eggs benny empty , no pancakes or French toast. The bacon looked limp and waterlogged. I stood waiting over 10 minutes along with other guest waiting for food. Eventually I gave up so I can t comment on the taste of the food. The experience was sub par and I won t be rushing back for the service or the food. Staff were busy and rushing around and my lack of food wasn t a big concern for them. Basically got a Meh result from the staff I talked to. One last thing the washrooms look like they have not been attended to in some time.

There are too many reasons to list that are all part of why we have been going to ABC for nearly 2 decades.

Food was mediocre at best

This is not just a restaurant this is history this takes you back makes you feel young again.

They have a great menu selection the service was good ,the restaurant was very busy. Christmas theme was throughout..everything was beautifully decorated..will visit again..

Service was not good, we sat sown at a table and no one came to serve us, we waited 10 minutes then left, sad, we used to come to ABC Country all the time and now it seems like customer service is not a priority.

Wonderful food and fabulous service. And, tons of pie!

Went for the Sunday brunch and they had everything you would want for breakfast and lunch selection was awesome. Had a selection of dessert for everyone. The place was packed.
