I found this restaurant after searching online, the service and delicious food are really amazing, my parents are very satisfied, the taste is great! The service person was very friendly and provided me with a mobile phone charger. I will definitely come here again and recommend it to my friends

Red Deer s best kept secret. I went for the oxtail and it was amazing. With oxtail, you are getting the flavour from the bones. Never tasted the chicken, but I heard it s good. True hipsters will order oxtail. I could feel the Jamaica in this place. It s a vibe. You can t go wrong by ordering oxtail.

I got the jerk chicken and curried goat combo and it was so good. Will definately be back for more.

Let me start of by saying this is THE BEST BEST Jamaican Restaurant in ALL of Alberta !!! My husband and me came here today , The patty alone Are the most tasteful patty we ever ate here. the texture of it , the spices , the flaky patty so so good ! the stew pork is amazing the rice and peas where flavourful and the jerk chicken. SO happy we came here today. This is our new Favourite place to eat ! Thank you for the amazing food and amazing Service.

This establishment is the definition of hearty, soul warming comfort food! You can tell the food is made with the rare ingredient of love . The kingfish, oxtail, jerked chicken, literally anything on the menu will have you thinking about this place all day (I usually don t like Mac and cheese, but chubby s makes a Mac and cheese that is completely outta this world!!!!)! I have friends straight from Jamaica that say this place is the closest to home they ve had. If you re in downtown Red Deer, you NEED to check this wonderful place out.

This place is seriously fantastic. I came in for lunch, the owner, so kind and personable! The food is out of this world, that corn bread is so moist, the mac and cheese - the BEST Id ever had. Youd be crazy not to give this place your time and money. Reasonable prices, delicious food, super kind staff. Absolutely will be coming back when in the city.

The best Caribbean food you will find in Alberta. I usually get oxtail or curry goat, but there are vegetarian options as well. He has fish, rice & peas, steamed vegetables, mac & cheese, salad & soup.

Absolutely delicious food, melt in your mouth tender meat with TONS of flavour. The beans and rice were delicious and the mac and cheese was some of the best restaurant mac i ve ever had. Super affordable as well. It was $12 for stewed beef, rice and beans, mac and cheese and a bottle of water. Big portion sizes. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Food is amazing, definitely a new favorite

This restaurant is a family favourite! When our kids come home from college, it s their first place to go grab lunch. Last month we held a family gathering for about 40+ people with over half our guests visiting from the Caribbean. We had Chubby Jerk cater for us and it was a huge hit! Our guests were going for second and third, and sometimes more plates. The food was phenomenal, communication while planning was seamless, and the food was packaged at pickup hot and ready to be served. Made for an easy party to host and we had very full and happy guests. Can t say enough about this place. Ya done know

Really enjoyed our meal here! Got the combo and it was delicious. The rice (normally the most boring part of the meal) was so good! Jerk chicken was flavourful and I loved the curry sauce in the goat curry. The mac and cheese was good and cheesy and the cornbread was good as well. Goat was quite bony, little meat, as my only complaint. The service was friendly and quick. Will be back if Im in the area again!

Got the jerk chicken and pork stew. Great flavours without being too spicy and salty. Large portions so the pricing was very reasonable. The atmosphere was a ok. Small restaurant and it didnt seem to have AC or the AC was turned very low so we did take out instead. Overall, really liked our first experience here. Friendly owner too. Highly recommended!

Holy moly this was amazing chicken. Stopped in on my way to Edmonton from Calgary based on reviews. Best jerk chicken of my life. Tiny little spot with no bathroom, almost more of a take-out vibe, but worth it. Look up hole in the wall gems in your dictionary and you ll find this humble little spot.

As everyone mentioned in previous comments, the vibe is great. I didn t get a chance to try the Jerk chicken which I heard was very good from everyone around town but The oxtail and beef patty s were exceptional. I m definitely coming back on my drives between Edmonton and Calgary.

We came here as part of a snack crawl/food tour we were doing for fun while visiting relatives over Christmas. We were blown away by the flavour. The food was so good! Definitely worth a stop if you re in town. Nice to see there were tons of regulars - they all knew each other by name and had great rapport with the owner. Always a good sign. Vegetarian options: Most sides are vegetarian and delicious.

Best Jamaican restaurant in Alberta, tastes better than some places in Jamaica, and it feels like a Jamaican bar on the inside. To Jamaicans and non-jamaicans alike, I cant recommend Chubbys enough.

Hands down! Best soup ever! Ive came by a few times and the soup is DYNAMITE!! EVERYTIME! Banana bread is so soft and flavourful. I cant wait to have time to dine in and try more.

Came up to red deer for the day and stopped in for lunch. Absolutely delicious. Had the Goat Curry and the Jerked BBQ. The underground bathroom adventure also shakes things up. I m going to come every time I m in the area.

My go-to place for lunch! I love pretty much everything on the menu: Ackee and Salt Fish, Goat, Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, Jamaican Meat Loaf, Meat Patties and the Fired Plantains. And if you re not allergic, try the Peanut Punch. Chubby (who is actually quite trim) is probably the most underrated person in the Red Deer food scene!

Wow, this place is great. The owner is so nice and gave me alot of sides to try in the combo! The ox tail was absolutely amazing and I loved all the sides. The red bean soup was so tasty and satisfying as well. Cannot wait to come back here and try more food.

Chubbs is the neighbour to our business the Tacoloft, I see all the cooks, chefs and servers in the neighbourhood line up for his delicious flavours. He s a great man with a great business, eat his food, shop downtown and don t forget to try a Jamaican patty. Love ya brother keep up the good work .

The only comment i have is that the prices need to be more comfortable especially where the location is the middle of the downtown or red deer and he needs to make all coming to have the lunch break at his restaurant with more affordable prices. again his food is really good. thanks!

When I made the move to Alberta let alone Red deer I was happy to see that chubbys jerk chicken was around hands down some of the best chicken Ive ever tasted. Been going for over a year now and its always amazing no matter what you get .

The only spot you need in red deer for Jamaican food, and we are glad it is here. Always satisfies the craving, and chubby is a class act and always has time to chat. Curry chicken on Tuesday is my go to and the jerk any day, along with homemade patties and soup. Always get the soup when it s there. Bless.

My new favorite place to eat! Ive got to say the beef pot roast is my favorite dish however the jerk chicken is close. The sides are always great as well. The rice and peas often with Mac & Cheese or steamed veggies and corn on the cob. Had the BBQ ribs today and they were excellent nice tangy sauce very tender, falling off the bone. Amazing flavor and texture. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Best ackees and salt fish outside of Sweet Spot in Jamaica, almost perfect patties, super friendly staff, and the only place in Red Deer I can find Ting.

From the first day I entered to my millionth time. Everything from the food, to the man who works over the till is pure dopamine. It is the most wholesome experience you can have, you feel like family whenever entering. From the friendly greetings to the sad goodbyes. You can always drop by for the best lunches in town. The food doesn t get much better for this small city and this is one of its hidden gems. If you are ever wondering if you should visit please do yourself a favour and just try it out. Jerk chicken and Jamaican patties are bangers :)))

I really like this place. Best Carribean food I ever had. I had the jerk chicken and it was spicy and had great flavours. Dark meat made it juice and smooth. Rice was the same and it was tasty and goes well with the jerk chicken sauce. Mac n Cheese is smooth, creamy and cheesy. They gave me two extra plantains too!! Owners are very nice. Definitely coming back!!!!

Just grabbed lunch at Chubbys, delicious. I had the oxtail and beans, mlady had the jerk chicken, it was all top notch. Heads up, if youre going to get the large, dont make plans for after lunch. My man makes a mean cornbread for sopping up the meat sauces. Go get you some!
