Went to this location twice in two months and both times the food was underwhelming and service mediocre at best. First time ever having to send back a steak to the kitchen because it was so chewy. We had an itch for The Keg, but it has definitely been scratched for a long time. Last time out at a steak restaurant prior to this was Ruth’s Chris in Calgary. Same total bill but way better service and food.
I have gone to the Keg for years. I mean most people have gone a few times, so we know what to expect. This visit, Al renewed my dining experience and made it worth remembering. He made the perfect recommendation for me, while being completely authentic and he was very attentive, even though it was just myself. I hope the management know how lucky they are to have a server like Al. I would not of had this wonderful experience without him.
Me and my wife had the great opportunity to be served by Jesse on Aug.14th. He had an excellent knowledge of the food and wine menu and was very attentive to our needs. He made the dining experience one that we won't forget! Thank you Jesse!
We arrived on Aug 15, 2023 for my sisters birthday. Our server was excellent as well as the ambiance. Both my husband and I ordered sirloins which were way too tough. We both asked for med rare but his was well done. I also decided to try the 1/2 lobster which was advertised as freshly brought in from the east however I am almost positive mine had been frozen. The shell was soft and very hard to crack open and I never did get any meat out of the legs as they appeared to be empty of meat. Not good value for the money for sure. Both these main items were disappointing. The loaded potato was good as well as the extra of cauliflower. My sister was presented with a healthy portion of mud pie which we all enjoyed. It was on the house so we felt better, at least about that part of the meal. It looks like others have complained about the toughness of the sirloin also. I bet that wasn’t Alberta beef!!
First and only visit. The reason we dined in this restaurant is because we received a gift card. We had to wait 40 minutes past our reserved time to be seated. The waiter was slow in delivering drinks and taking our orders. After it took 20 minutes to receive drinks and he would be back for our order we decided not to order a second round. After almost 2 hours of sitting around in this steakhouse the food arrived. The medium rare steaks we ordered were well done and well done. We complained but they said it would be about a half of an hour for new steaks and it was nearly closing time. The seafood and sides were good though. I'm disappointed that out of 2 steaks they ruined both and they have steakhouse in the name. I'm glad this was done on a gift card and not out of my own wallet. We just wanted to have supper we didn't want to spend half a shift at the steakhouse to eat overpriced steak that they can't even cook properly.
It’s one of my favourite places to go for supper. Service is always awesome and I think I’ve had only one not so great meal in all the times. So I would definitely recommend going. Only negative thing is The take out containers are not the greatest, they always pop open, they just don’t hold up well. I feel for the amount of money one spends, a better take out container could be given.
I’ve been a Keg fan since they had salad bars - for those who remember those days. I wanted to treat my family of 6 for a special Father’s Day dinner, knowing I would be spending $$$$. I could have bought groceries for 2 weeks- so for us it was special. I booked a week in advance so we would have a spot & a nice table in the dining room. When we arrived I was told it was first seating available for reservations - the lounge. The music was super loud and annoying & my mom with hearing aids couldn’t hear anyone- so I asked to have the music turned down - please. It was turned off and I was told in a very passive aggressive way that the music was off. 😀 I think I could actually figure that out myself. Anyway, we ordered and the salads & appies arrived and were very good. When our dinners arrived, all were good except mine. I ordered a medium rare sirloin Oscar that was delivered- blue. Sent it back and by the time my guests were 1/2 way through eating, I received another order - exactly the same - blue! By this time I was getting annoyed! Not a chef, but I do know - if it feels like rubber to the touch - it’s rare. Sent it back again . By the time the next order came out the rest of my group were done eating - so I asked for it to be boxed. We were offered complimentary desserts for the inconvenience & they waived the bill for my $58 order - think I have that price correct? It didn’t matter at that point - my evening & experience were destroyed. No visit from the manager? I think for the price it was pathetic. When you are paying a fine dining price, in a mediocre atmosphere you expect excellent food - that’s why you are there. It’s not a diner. Tipped the waitress on the side as she was good. As for the chef’s I’d recommend more training or a meat thermometer.
It's been awhile since we visited and it may be a while again. I am not certain if my memory got faulty or if there has been a major change. I will start by saying our service was excellent and the Caesar's have retained remembered quality. Where it went awry was the poor plating of the very pricey food. The steak was disappointingly chewy (point of ridiculous even for sirloin) baked potato was filled with undercooked dense spots, broccoli was overcooked but the beets - while odd for their appearance were well cooked. Now back to good - the creme brulee was perfect and offering 2 sizes is a great idea. The Keg just seemed more upscale in my memory perhaps but the bill total was shocking compared to value received. Again though - the service was superlative!
Great meal. Very busy but our service was not compromised, we had a wonderful waitress! Beautiful clean environment.
Ordered 2 Caeser salads with shrimp, 1 soup and 2 garlic breads with cheese to go. $104 and couldnt eat the salads the lettuce tasted so bad. Soup wasnt even full and no liquid just onion and cheese. They forgot the extra dressing and cheese butters I ordered.
Meal was excellent, large group so it took a while for the food. Service was great. No complants
We had a reservation for 730 and were seated just before 755. It was busy so it was noisy. But the food was great and the service was ok.
Always a great experience
Always great food and great service!
Great food and service
First time experience and my food was pipping hot and delicious
By far my favorite restaurant!!!
Awesome rib steak.
A reliable old standard. No surprises.
Nice place to eat. Waitress was great, seemed like the kitchen was behind. Food took 35 minutes after we ordered, and another 5 minutes for my sons burger. They said his fries fell on the floor, and they made a new batch. Unfortunately had burger was extremely overcooked by that point.
Fantastic service, amazing food & great atmosphere!
Good food but soooo expensive
Dietary restrictions: Very flexible and helpful with celiac. Food
My wine glass was never empty. My plate was full of amazing things to eat.
Celebrating us. Prime Rib is always a favourite for my husband. We usually sit in the lounge where we can enjoy the game on the TV. Staff is usually very friendly and positive. Tonight all was perfect.
Very good service and food. Was a little loud inside the restaurant.
Great staff and food amazing
This used to be my favorite place to eat. I dont know what has changed, but it will no longer be our fav spot in Red Deer to go for girls night. The food was awful. And the wait was ridiculous for there being 1 other table in the early evening. The usual table bread didnt have flavor either. Did the butter if thats even possible. Ordered escargot, received mushrooms neptune, which I realized after taking a bite. Im allergic to crab, so I sent it back after waiting 20 min for the waiter to appear. No appology, he said nothing. I just took it and walked away. Thank God Im not major allergic and didnt need an epipen for his mistake. 20 more minutes, my escargot came, and it was OK, again bland. The steak was chewy and unseasoned. The veggies were overcooked. The only good thing was the baked potato. Plates were so hot that they couldnt be touched. The prime rib was over 50% fat. No drink refills as the water disappeared once the food finally came. Not even water. We waited for a very long time to even order drinks, then for them to come. Then the food took well over an hour to come after we ordered. If it had been amazing, it wouldnt have been so bad, but for mediocre food and service, I dont know whats going on at the Keg, but I wont be coming back anytime soon. And for Gods sake, change the music its so absolutely terrible.
Always awesome food and service
Ordered the prime rib that was meant to come with a salad and mushrooms. Asked to sub a French onion soup for the salad, let the bartender know that I was willing to pay a bit extra if necessary. Prime rib showed up before the soup. Reminded the bartender about the soup that was promptly brought out. No mushrooms, reminded again and they were brought, got the bill and was charged full price for the soup, when I asked he said that he couldn t do a substitution so I said okay maybe have my salad and he looked at me like I was crazy. Brutal.
Hubby and I go here whenever we re in Red Deer and they never disappoint. We met my sister and brother in law on Thursday and the food was delicious, the service very professional. Love this place
I ated a BIG Lobster and dipped my steak in the butter!
Great food and service. The atmosphere was amazing.
Oh our meal was delicious! All the staff was great but our server, Tha, was really fantastic. We will be visiting again.
Corbin is great and very polite. Great service. Thanks for a lovely dinner.
Patio was beautiful and well maintained! Thanks to our server Andrew for providing an incredible experience. He accounted for our busy timeline and made sure we made it out on time! He was friendly and would say he went above and beyond. Thanks for hooking us up with a special anniversary dessert - it was DELICIOUS!
Excellent dining experience.
My husband an came for our 1 year anniversary an our server (Dylan) was great an friendly the food was amazing thank you so much highly recommend
Food was great we had steak and ribs . Service was great , minimal wait as we did not have reservations ( strongly recommend reservations!) . Even though it was very busy we could have a conversation. We got complementary desert , a gift for our anniversary!
Its keg you can never go wrong with the keg. We will be back for sure
Always has great food.
A superb Keg experience
Went for dinner last night June 4th, order our dinner, my ladys came out with the wrong steak and wrong side, sent back they washed off the Oscar and overcooked her rare steak to well-done and put on the blue cheese as per the original order, again with the wrong side. Asked for a new steak to be made which then took another 20 mins, then when it finally came out still had the wrong side and was told the baked potatoe and the garlic mash taste the same by the manager on shift. Ended up getting it to go as it was 10 pm. And to top it off a co worker that was there payed for our desert which was not even offered to us. There was no drink offered while she waited and watched me eat my meal and then at the end still charge us full price except for the 2 haply hour drinks. Will never go there again due to the worst service Ive ever had.
Took my girlfriend out for dinner last night. I got steak with crab and vegetables. Not to impressed at all. Under cooked vegetables plus not the right fork for the crab legs. I tried to talk to the owner and all he did was laugh about it. Our bill was just about $200.00 for two people. The only thing I eat was the steak. Both of us woke up sick throwing up this morning. I will never be back. Pretty sad that a high class place cant even cook vegetables.
Thank you to our server Jesse for giving us beyond amazing service on one of our very few date nights. He had our dessert remade even tho it was our fault for forgetting to mention a food allergy. Our meals were cooked to perfection and worth every penny. And we would just like to formally apologize on behalf of the human race for the horrible belligerent rude table across from us that were treating Jesse and the staff horrible. Our bill was discounted to make up from having to sit by these people on our date night, but the only ones who truly had to suffer was the staff. Good job and keep up the amazing work and attitude
The Keg is always a good place to stop in, be sure to try the baseball cut sirloin chicago style. You wont be disappointed
We received a giftcard for christmas, and decided to do a date night. We went on Friday night, and though busy, the service was great, food was excellent, and had the best mojito that Ive tasted in years.. so I had two. Waiter was great, very funny guy, I wish I could recall his name. Steak was amazing, and cooked perfectly. Garlic mashed potatoes are incredible, highly recommend.
They must have changed owners or management. I enjoy the Keg, but its just not what it used to be.
Staff dinner in the private room. Excellent service. Thank you Ta and Renee. Definitely recommend for staff dinner!
My husband and I were there last night. We were seated soon. Our server Alex came to take our order, I said we needed a few minutes. Few minutes later he came back with another server saying that they were sending him home. Our new server was good. But I still saw Alex at two other tables,he was still there when we were leaving. I dont know what his issue was but I felt discriminated.
I enjoyed my steak but salad sucked.
Service was great, which was the one bright spot, so thanks Renee. Portions were tiny, which is disappointing considering the price tag attached to them. Cooked Veggies were tough to bite and not even worth the effort they were so undercooked. Overall, very disappointed in this red deer location.
Cool people serving you .. best food, Comfort place, Easy to find it Food : 5/5 |
They double booked the reservation, then wanted us to wait 30 min for a table while also asking us to be gone by 7pm. Then they played the victim card while the girls at the front desk descended into the highschool how dare you attitude for us asking if it was gonna be much longer then the 25 min we waited already. Then they tryed to seat our party at the bar. Then when we objected to sitting there in a line a very small dark-haired manager appeared and in a sqeeky voice told me how our discontent hurt his feelings and then helped us to leave faster. I even told him dad was tired from beating cancer 2 weeks ago and just wanted to sit down and eat and he exclaimed he did not care. Alright then pal. Ruined dads day two mothers and a another who drove 2 hours to be here. Sorry keg was pretty bad at least its easy to find another place to drop 500 bucks in Red Deer and we did just that.
Music was loud in the lounge; caesar salad was low in volume; when we casually were looking around for service, not even the bar person acknowledge that we reqd help.
Wedge salad with the dill ranch. If you havent tried it, youre not living.
Paid an extra $23 bucks for a cold lobster tail. Didn t get sauces with our meals and it seem to take longer to get 2 deserts than it did to make our entire meal. I m pretty unhappy and disappointed with my last visit.
I had an enjoyable time at the keg. The service and server were very polite and Were there for anything that I needed? And the food was excellent and served at a prompt time.
We recently went to this location for a dinner out. First I must say the prices are ridiculous for what you get. I dont mind spending but if I pay $50+ for a steak it should be mouth watering good. Wife ordered a couple appies. Onion soup had absolutely no flavour. $19 for a couple tiny crab cakes. Get better quality from the frozen kind you buy at the grocery store. Prime rib was poor, thin piece that was over cooked. Thats what I was craving only to be disappointed by the poor quality and the cook. Only good things was the beer was cold and our server was good. $136 for a simple 2 person meal was a shock.
Excellent meal, well worth the price
Best place in town for steak, but the price has jumped by $10 a meal if not more.
We hadn t been to The Keg in a few years, but going for our anniversary on Monday was well worth it! Amazing food! We had steak and Lobster and prime rib! We will be back very soon! Lots to eat and great red - house wine!
Love it. Can never go wrong if u go to the Keg.
I ordered a medium piece of meat and this is what I received was rare and cold. I reached out twice to the restaurant and never got a response. Any other Keg would have tried to fix the situation. Wasn t a cheap meal and I am disappointed.
Service and food were awesome but there was ALOT of fruit flies buzzing around which isn t a good sign for cleanliness.
Okay I just had the BEST chicken I ve ever had tonight! The blackened chicken was seriously SO GOOD!! Perfectly tender and juicy and the mashed potatoes were excellent!! Service was quick and friendly/efficient. Would recommended! Oh also had mushrooms to start which were delicious my only thought was it s mentioned as a mushroom dip but is served as stuffed mushroom caps? Anyways it was so yummy regardless
Our dinner was perfect and our server, Dylan, was beyond amazing! He was so friendly and on top of everything! My son and I had date night and Dylan made it a very memorable evening for us. Thanks Dylan and The Keg!
Had a great meal and the service was uniquely prompt and engaging. Our server (Alex) went out of his way to deliver exceptional service which has become a rarity these days. For a first impression this went very well. Our meals were very well done and we will be coming back. One point I would mention is pick your day carefully or ensure you make that reservation!
Great place for a special night out. Cant go wrong with the steak.
Soooo testy
Really enjoyed the food great staff friendly clean butyhe environment is a bit dark could use a bit of uplift other than that cant get better food tho
For me,Top Place for a Steak over the past 25years never had a bad Steak, this is a pretty good resume for a Restaurant Vegetarian options: Nice option
Went for an early valentines dinner and a very nice gentleman Alex served us. He was very attentive and made our dinner an enjoyable experience. We look forward to our next visit
Why take reservations if you make us wait 40 minutes past booked time? Get it sorted and we ll be back.
Total came to over $80. Though the burgers were very tasty and the Ceasars salad was awesome, the cost is horrendous. Thank God for a gift card. No way 2 burgers, a bit of fries, salad and cheese toast should cost this much.
we phoned in early to reserve a booking at 630pm on Christmas eve before we even got there they person who booked my reservation spelled my name wrong even after I spelled it out to them. I got there with my parents for there anniversary and the wait for even being acknowledged was 15 minutes after we sat down. we almost got up and left. then we got a server and were able to order right away. so I thought ok they might be able to redeem themselves. the fresh bread came and our appetizers. the second pop I got was just carbonated water. it took a little bit to get hold of a wait staff and then our waiter came we ordered one steak and lobster classic and one top sirloin steak. both steaks were ordered well done and both came as medium well. the waiter asked me if I wanted to have a new steak made and I was so hungry from waiting I said no I will just eat it. I am glad I had $150.00 in gift cards to use up and that was the only saving grace for me to know that I paid with gift cards. this is only the second time going to the keg and everytime the steak is cooked wrong. it is so expensive that i can only afford it when people give me gift cards. every time i go hoping the experience is different but it never seems to be different
Not the same as before. Steak was very poor quality and unseasoned. Lobster was rubber. This seems to be a trend for restaurants right now as they seem to be using lower quality to increase margins due to the prolonged Covid shutdowns. Service was excellent.
The keg does such a great job on steaks . The only place I eat beef when we go out. The food and service are always on point. A treat to go out for dinner here. Prime rib is awesome. News Years Eve and so busy and so well organized. Great job Travis and your team!
We arrived late, had no reservations but only had to wait maybe 10 minutes to get a table. Between Christmas and new years, so quite busy place. We are people who like space around us, but it was ok. The servers were friendly and on top of their game, although probably very tired. Well done! Food was great, and plenty. We enjoyed our evening out.
New Years Eve celebration. The restaurant was crazy busy and did a fantastic job. The whole meal was delicious.
The last two times we have gone for a burger for takeout. The meal has been lousy. You get less and less for what you pay for. The burger was dry. It looked like it had been brought in. When we Had these burgers before they were absolutely incredible, the best in town, but they were dry. It had a piece of cheese on. I guess it s back to McDonald s quarter pounder. $23 for twice baked potato and a hamburger is a lot of money
Amazing service from Dillion serving us to the fantastic food!
A birthday dinner just awesome and a wonderful server
Reservations were for 6pm on a Saturday, its was busy. Didnt get sat until 6:15. It was 6:30 before we had our drink order taken. Main course was brought out before we were done appetizers, clearly being rushed. Food was great, service sucked.
When you order medium rear, you want medium rear jot medium well to well. I wont eat here, not worth the money
The food is great and the service is better.
Nothing but good things to say about my experience at the Keg tonight, service was above and beyond, you could tell he had experience and it showed in everyway. It just goes to show that good service is still out there, I left full, satisfied and feeling great. Ty
Good food, but as always, extremely overpriced. In the end its just a steak nothing more nothing less and there will never be an 10oz sirlion worth 60.00. We only go when we have a gift card. Vegetarian options: They have them Parking: The mall makes the parking limited
The food was amazing. I enjoyed every bite and our server was very attentive and friendly. Only thing Id change is a bit more lighting, even a candle at each table, as it was super dark in there.
Excellent steak, especially with the addition of their confit butter. Decent cocktail and wine menus, but their beer choices are average. Servers are attentive and pleasant. Tables are crowded and the place tends to be loud. Reservations definitely needed for weekends.
Thanks to Megan our waitress who looked after our family of 6 from New Zealand. Service was great and steaks and snow crab were all perfect.... in our private dining room. Kid-friendliness: Kids meal readily available
Just under 50 dollars for two tiny lobster tails!!! NEVER AGAIN BYE
Review update: was from 2 years ago!Still no reply to my question! Very disappointing Keg!Do you not read or care about your reviews from your customers? Was wonderful! But what happened to the candles!Way to dark! Food
Always a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy the time together.
Nothing short of excellence!!
This is a typical Keg. You know what you are getting, and you get the keg Steakhouse experience. Its dependable, but overall quality is not a 5. Enjoyable.
Great steak!!!!!
Always great service, not a long wait for food at all
Not bad for where it is! Cmon people!
The best.
Our meal was good quality. However we were forced to eat in the bar area because at 9pm the restaurant is closed. It was our only night out. But we were rushed by the staff even though it wasnt closing time. Not very respectful in my opinion considering it was $180 for 2 people.
Had 18 ounce prime rib with au jus with garlic mashed potatoes, bread, pop. Ordered medium well. It was medium rare at best. A ton of gristle, hard to cut, with even a good knife. Not flavourful, luke warm. Same with potatoes. Didnt ask to cook it more, as my server seemed pretty disinterested in having me there. I feel very ripped off. Hadnt been there in a long time. Thank God for the gift card I had, because I wont likely be back.
Went for crab legs but was told there was none. Substituted for steak and lobster. It was very tasty!
We ate in during the May long weekend. They were able to seat us without reservations. Service was good, but the food was better! Its always worth going to the Keg!
The food at the keg is always good but we had the best server here! Dan was so lovely, kind and attentive! Definitely made our visit at The Keg. Thank you Dan!
1. Ordered classic teriyaki with twice baked potato WITH sour cream, butter, bacon and green onions. It s already mixed in. 2. Caesar salad - wayyyyy too much dressing. 3. Sour dough bread good, but something tasted rotten. Just rotten. We finally figured out the garlic butter with cheese spread was awful. We said something and the chef came out saying oh no it s made correctly. (What happened to the customer is always right? ) A guy at the other table heard us; ordered plain butter. 4. The steak was excellent, the veggies excellent, stingy on the mushrooms. 5. Left half the twice baked potato as it wasn t topped with what I wanted. Again, clearly the customer is wrong. Again.
Lovely staff. Great company. Food was delicious.
I really like This place first time being here and the waitress was really friendly and the place is good vibes.
Have always had a good time here but as a new recently diagnosed celiac I was a little disappointed at the few options on the menu. Let alone a gluten free menu. When I asked the server if I could get a small salad instead of the table bread the server said no, without even clearing it from a manager. Instead said I could purchase the classic and get it for $10 more. I understand that this is my issue I need to live with but do also feel that if a business is offering something to non-diet regular customers, then a simple accommodation can be made for people who have certain dietary restrictions.
The food was great tonight. Our server was Andrew and he was excellent! We will be back to enjoy the patio on a warmer evening
Great food as always! Baked brie, tuna tartare, stuffed mushrooms and the best steak! But, the best part of all was the server! If you come here, ask for Andrew, just the absolute best!!! Hands down!!! Food
Table for 2 sort of too small for our small order. Waitress was awesome
A delicious prime rib meal! They also made one of the best martinis Ive had in Red Deer! Food
Hubbys ribs were old tasting. My meal was good.
Great server. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Best service weve gotten in a long time! We will definitely be back.
The food was okay. But the crab stuffed mushrooms were not as tasty as they could have been.
Great meal and incredible service.
Went to the Red Deer Keg to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated immediately in their comfortable dining room. We received first class service from our waiter Rene. Timing of the food service was excellent with the main course arriving right on cue after finishing the appetizers. Quality of the food was exceptional with best lobster tails I ve ever had, cooked to juicy perfection. We were served an absolutely huge portion of Billy Miner Pie on the house for our anniversary. We ll be returning here again to celebrate future special occasions.
Not what the Keg of the pass was...food was meh for the prices. Please put up sign for people to place phones on vibe or mute...table next to us ruined our experience with phone chimes going off ever 30 secs.
Meals are excellent. Service was very good as well. Nice place for a special evening out.
This was a fine experience, didnt stand out and didnt disappoint. You get good food service is always top notch. The wife and I ate at the lounge a little later and I think thats why the food wasnt as great as previous times Ive gone. Still will go back and recommend for a great steak and prime rib. Is costly but all know that
Service was excellent, as was the food. Weather was great, so we took to the patio where a few crows dropped in on the rafters above to see if they could scrounge a quick meal. I imagine some customers must feed them, or their able to sometimes sneak off the odd scrap of food before the tables are bussed. We had a chuckle, and the birds buggered off. Overall 5 star experience here for our first dinner out as newlyweds! PS Im not just saying that because of the free cake lol!
Attentive staff, excellent food, and great atmosphere.
Very good dinning spot in Red Deer. I ordered the lobster bisque soup (it was totally creamy, I was expecting some pieces of lobster, disappointed). For the appetizers, calamari (great quantity and taste), garlic shrimps (very little amount, did not really like the taste) and the tuna tartare (had avocado, didnt like the combination). For the main, I got steak and shrimps. The cooking of the steak was spot on, as requested. The prawns were well cooked but not overly cooked. Skip the appetizers (except calimari), go for the main.
Very expensive for mediocre food.
our server sam was absolutely amazing she was very attentive and overall just gave off a very friendly personality!
My steak was overdone. Manager said it would be at least 10 minutes for another. Finally brought it out, my family was done eating and this steak was over done as well. 2nd manager came and said that they have had problems with temperatures on filets all night. Didnt charge us for the meal but the rice and veggies were good.
I would like to share my experience here recently. I noticed the food quality is not as good as it used to be.
Food was amazing, all our steaks were perfect, and our server Andrew was excellent, hilarious & attentive! Will definitely be going again.
Prices are too high for the quality of food. Service is usually pretty good, though!
Good food, but still pricey for what you get.
Great birthday meal. Lobster was tasty Filet wasn t the best piece chosen but the plate was better. Twice baked always a must. And billy miner to finish off the drum of a belly I had walking out. Service was great too.
Great service and delicious food
We came here for our anniversary dinner with family. The ladies at the front where extremely accommodating as when I rebooked to add people to our reservation it somehow changed the date. So thank you! Our server was Rene. He did the best he could. We did feel however it was a busy night so his attention towards us was hindered. We did have to ask other servers to assist us a few times which is not a normal standard we have come to expect. We didn t have butter for the bread. Refills where few and far between. The cauliflower was not crispy, which we brought this to Rene s attention. The second order was average as well. My burger was also overdone. The shrimp where missed from my husbands order along with the bernaise he asked for. So he asked again after our main courses arrived. Overall we still enjoyed our time. But I know my husband usually likes raves how much he enjoys his meal after, however he didn t this time around.
We went to the Keg for our anniversary last night! Thr meal was fantastic and our waitress Tha was super fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Awesome rib steak, great service.
A great dining experience! Nice to see a restaurant that has kept their large serving sizes the same but took the leap and increased the prices slightly. Great meal, large portions. Server was so good, fast, efficient and personable. Dietary restrictions: Told server what dietary issues there were and she immediately let the kitchen know. One item could not be served as it had an allergen in it and they spotted it right away and sent our server back to tell us to pick something else. Parking: There are only two handicap parking spots and both were taken. I would think with the restaurant capacity that 2 stalls would with todays requirements not be sufficient. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access with a wheelchair, nice smooth transition from sidewalk to entrance. Wide rows to move chair through without any trouble and it was busy. Removed a regular chair and slipped wheelchair in with no problem.
Personally one of the best steaks Ive had in a long time. I got the pepper corn new York and it was delicious. The gravy with it was Devine as well. Definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful evening out for our anniversary. We only booked our reservation 3 hrs before we went and they managed to accommodate us. I highly recommend making a reservation if you are going on the weekend. They are a busy place! We waited about 20 min but it was understable as they had to wait for other tables to leave to seat us. They served complimentary wine in the lobby while waiting with the hockey game in full view. The food was delicious. We had lamb and steak. The lamb was falling off the bone, no knife needed and generous portions. The steak was done perfectly. Our server Rene was awesome. A clean and inviting atmosphere. The hostesses at the front were also very busy, but accommodating. We would absolutely visit again. It was a wonderful evening to get away and enjoy a nice meal.
Pricey, but very good. I would have appreciated more roasted veggies if Im being perfectly honest
Disappointed calamari overcooked and lobster tails undercooked sent both mine back. My daughter didnt and felt sick at the end Parking: Ample parking Kid-friendliness: No kids
I originally went to earls for dinner but my party decided to move to the keg instead, but I wish we stayed at earls. The food at the keg was average, my partners steak was waayyy under medium rare and had to send it back to be cooked longer, no discount was offered. My mothers dish was perfect to her liking & mine was ok. The filet mignon I got was very tough & not the best I ve had that s for sure. The server herself was very polite & kind, however the service was still very slow, took 10 minutes just to get our drinks and bread. It was a nice outing with my family but I definitely don t think I d go back, especially for the price compared to how terrible the food was.
Its so busy on weekends, but if you make a reservation with open table its usually not too bad. The last time we went we waited 40 min even with a reservation, but it was CFR so I am assuming thats why. Always great service and amazing food, worth the wait for our celebration meal!
The prime rib was awful, cold, very chewy the only thing that was a little warm was the plate waste of money
Prime rib always good. Horseradish always hot. Sides always good. Service on top. Know what youre getting when you come here.
First off I have to say this is one of our top date night spots in Red Deer for many reasons that I will include. First off since the place is so popular you will want to make a reservation on busy nights. We like the inside vibe which gives off a calm ambience and makes date nights enjoyable. Once you arrive you are always met with a friendly greeting and shown to your table. The service that we have received here has always been superior. We like that they have an extensive cocktail and wine list to choose from so we can try something new every time. Onto the best part the food, we have always enjoyed every meal and the food has always been cooked to perfection there are options on the menu for anyone s needs or likes. Lastly even though you will be super full dessert is a must have especially the biller miner pie.
It was a bit loud where we were sat down but once a few tables left it quieted down alot. Food was delicious and the off menu cowboy steak was amazing. Bit pricey but it was worth it!
Great food and service - looking forward to prime rib next time!
Great food and superb service. I wish they still required people to be dressed appropriately. Going for a fine steak should at least not allow sweat oants, hoodies etc.
Always good
Great place to go eat. Food is fantastic. Servers are always friendly. Its expensive but worth it every now and then.
Amazing time and an even better birthday dinner experience!! Service was quick and impressive given the busy night and the food was as expected! Absolutely delicious and piping hot!
Delicious dinner, best steak in town, great service, Al, thank you
delicious food, great service, great place :)!!
ashley served me very well! i will give 5 stars she is very nice and professional
Great, welcoming staff, and lovely cloth napkins, but found a dead mouse with maggots in my mixed green salad. Definitely looked like it came shipped in the box that they get their leafy greens in so I dont think theyre roaming the restaurant but still lost my appetite afterwards. Got a free beer on tap and two free desserts, didnt stay for my meal though. This occurred on my birthday as well, so thats the cherry on top. I should have just gotten the prime rib steak as I intended to. I will say this place is usually really good and a great spot for a date or birthday but this time just wasnt great for me at all. Maybe just dont order the salad.
Food was cold .butter for lobster was cold took for ever to even get warm in order to our lobster was unable to enjoy it with our steak Had to ask for lots our ceasar salad never came till I had to ask for it had to ask for water had to ask for steak sauce. Took a cake I for my daughters birthday they brought the cake out had to ask for forks and plates and a knife to cut cake .worst experience ever especially as it was my daughters 10th birthday ever year my kids get to choose where they want there birthday family dinner my 10 year old choose the Keg how sad how it turned out.
Prime Rib is always amazing.
Have been to this Keg many times, this is the first time we have had to send both steaks back to the kitchen for not being cooked as ordered. One steak was very over-done, and the other rare (both had been ordered med-rare). While they were very apologetic, the fact the steaks even left the kitchen like that leads me to believe they were hoping they would have a customer not complain and just go with it. Our server, although very friendly was not around; we sat for quite some time with empty water glasses, she was nowhere to be seen, although there were ample staff milling around no-one offering to top water up. I watched a server/ helper about to deliver bread to a table and drop a dish of butter in the middle of the floor right behind our table, she simply walked away and left it there. Another server walked by, saw it on the carpet and kept walking on. It was a good 10 -15 minutes if not longer before a buss person came along and cleaned it up, which was a bit shocking since someone could have easy stepped in it and hit the floor. I honestly, was about to get out of my seat to pick it up myself. I cant really see why the girl that dropped it didnt simply pick it up right away and head back into the kitchen for a new serving of bread and butter. It has a mentality of not my job regardless of what consequences may arise. Honestly, this is the first time I really have anything negative to say, maybe slow neglectful service on another occasion, but typically the Keg is our go to for a nice steak dinner, and we do expect quality and good service when you are dropping $200 for a meal for 2 people. Maybe, it was an off day, they were quite busy for 4:30PM on a Saturday, which is unusual (we always book early to avoid such situations), however, they knew what reservations they had, the food quality (at first) and service was somewhat lacking. We will be back, but I hope management will take these comments and use them to coach staff accordingly. Cheers.
Best steaks in red deer. Always cooked to perfection
Have eaten at the keg for years. And always have had a great time with good food and service. Sadly this was an experience that was tainted by poor service and management s handling of the matter. As well very expensive for the experience and will not go to the Red Deer Keg ever again
This is our go to place in Red Deer whenever we are celebrating birthdays, special occasions etc. Over the years, weve experienced good to mediocre food and service there. Weve had great service from exceptional people and not so good service from untrained and rather clueless ones. When we are spending that kind of money we do expect at least a minimum of quality in food and service and this time, this is exactly what we got. Looks like the ol Keg is upping its game, finally. We had an exceptional dinner with great service by a waiter who knew what he was doing and it really made our night! We ordered the standard prime rib dinners [We love prime rib and the Keg is still the best place to get it]. They had a new item on the menu for their sides - The brussell sprouts Caesar dish was absolutely delicious and we highly recommend! We ordered a bottle of wine which turned out to be super quality and delicious for the price. May we suggest the Laya, a grenache from Spain...Full bodied, spicy, smooth and pairs perfectly with steaks. Very affordable for the quality. Our server, Andrew is the guy to have looking after your table if you can get him. We would like to say Thank You to Keg staff last night for getting everything right this time.
Didnt have allot for ppl with food allergies, as I have a peanut allergy and I got a beet and a plain steak for 50 a steak that was a bit over priced!
