Upon arrival, it feels dark and mysterious and to get a complementary shot at the table was a great idea. The Viking concept is unique, the food was good however a little too oily at the end especially when you finish the bone marrow with the whiskey shot. Though I admit it is a must try! Overall it was an interesting experience, staff were nice and attentive.

Really enjoyed. The atmosphere and staff so attentive. Did Yuletide Feast. So much food. They even help me with being Coeliac. Such a treat. An experience not to be missed. Dietary restrictions: Really helpful.

This place is absolutely incredible. Came here for the second time tonight and it only confirmed it is the best dining experience in Sydney (and drinking). Isabella made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in the door and made the night very memorable. Will definitely be back soon

Food is good though not very good valuable for money. Atmosphere is reasonable, though undercut by the excessive attempts at upselling. Giving it one star on principle due to the undisclosed $20 per head service fee. Undisclosed charges should be illegal (maybe they already are). Avoid on principle

We went to the Yuletide Celebration for my partners birthday and it was fantastic, great atmosphere, cheerful and fun without being too loud. There was a little wait for mains but the staff were very helpful and the drinks list, especially the cocktail menu, was fascinating and extensive. Food was plentiful and excellent, with great thought given to texture and flavour combinations. Fav dish was the roasted cauliflower, usually such boring vegetable! We both rolled out the doors, stuffed and very happy.

Ribs that fall off the bone, rainbow trout that melts in your mouth you forget you are human. Pick your weapons my friends, bring your wench, this is a place for Vikings and damsels but let it be written they are not in distress! You won t leave here full of belly but full of life. Don t don t anything else today but book a table.

Mjolnir is without a doubt an event resteraunt. You go here with people to celebrate, and the set menu is a feast. Its underground with no reception, forcing you to focus on the people youre with. You talk, drink, and the 3 course set menu (share plates) comes out well paced and well prepared. The staff all have a bit of glam to fit in with the Norse theme and they are just lovely. It was a fabulous experience for us, and almost every part of the Yuletide menu was *divine*. They even offer a small mead toast at the beginning of the dinner which is a really nice touch. Dietary restrictions: Accommodated dairy free Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly. Do not bring children. Wheelchair accessibility: Has a staircase descender machine thing.

This whole experience was such a treat! Lovely staff, amazing food, and drinking mead out of a horn is a must! My tip, bring someone because this place should be shared.

Incredible atmosphere! The whole restaurant was Norse-themed, including the decor, employee outfits, dinnerware, etc Fantastic night out with incredibly delicious meal and drinks! The Horn of Mead was delicious and exciting. But the star of the night was the whiskey shot drunk from the bone marrow brûlée shank.

10/10 cannot fault any part of the experience and food. Highly recommend for a unique experience.

A fun experience, with a Nordic theme that runs through every part of the meal, to the waitstaff and the setting. The food was hearty and the mead excellent, and of course you need to drink from a horn! Unfortunately though a few of our party left feeling ill, and our pork belly was at least 80% fat with barely a ribbon of meat through the middle. While the crackling was good, the amount of fat made the pork unable to be enjoyed.

It was an unforgettable experience! The Viking-themed atmosphere was immersive, and the service was outstanding attentive and friendly. Every dish was delicious, with rich flavours that made the meal truly memorable. Highly recommend it for a unique and fantastic dining experience!

My sweetie is a Dane living in Australia, and has apparently wanted to try Mjolner for a long while. I think we were initially a bit taken aback by the slightly cheesy Viking theme-park feel, but you know, they really lean in and commit to the bit, so it was fun. The restaurant is in a very beautifully fitted out and decorated basement in Redfern (I noticed a stairlift, so it is accessible, hurrah). It looks like a Viking tavern from Hollywood. After being instructed in the ways of Odin by our lovely waitstaff (obviously taken as hostages as they were very much not Scandinavian ), we were served complimentary shots in adorable glasses shaped like penguins. OK, they were glasses shaped like horns, but I was pushing them around the table saying meep meep until they were removed because they look like adorable penguins). The degenerates at the table had some kind of mead thing in their shot glasses and I was served a delightful berry /herb cordial that I suspect came from a witch trying to cast a love spell a la Midsomer but fine, whatever, I just went with it. If I die I die. My companions followed with mead and beer out of drinking horns, I had an elderflower? Cordial that was really nice. I love that they had these handmade beverages. Another nice thing that I wish more restaurants would do is suggest the right number of starters, mains and sides for the party. We followed the instructions and had gravlax (Danish bloke said it was great), served with handmade cottage cheese (I took a Lactese when I saw that, no way was I missing out), dill, little handmade crackers and PICKLED LIME. Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and saviour, pickled lime? wow that is good stuff. Imma find a recipe for sure. The other starter was roasted beetroot, and again, delicious. The defining quality of this meal was that the main ingredients were enhanced by the preparation and presentation, but in no way overwhelmed. The beetroot was caramelised and served on a bed of??? Parsnip? Idk I need to look at the menu, but it was amazing. Mains was a one kilo tomahawk steak cooked quite rare, and for second mains we chose the pumpkin. Normally I eat my beef pink but not this pink, and I do put salt and pepper on. There was no salt on the table, so I trusted the chef and tried it- holy wow. Whatever they did to make this beef the way it was is amazing. Some kind of crust on the outside, but not throwing a million spices at us, just enough of whatever it was to elevate the beef. Amazzzzzing. The pumpkin dish was also a work of art, I love quinoa but the quinoa-deniers at my table also proclaimed it delicious. I think I tasted a little cinnamon but im probably wrong. Roasted broccoli and twice baked potatoes were the two sides and they were also stellar. The bill came in a beautiful card with a pop-up papercraft Viking boat that is possibly as adorable as the welcome penguins. Sooo in a nutshell, the medieval times theme park part was whatever, but the food was perfection. Well worth the drive to Sydney. Thanks for a delicious meal!

I dined here yesterday , anticipating a special evening for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the experience fell short due to several service and communication issues that overshadowed the meal. We made a reservation with the surprise birthday option, but upon being seated, our waitress asked if we were celebrating any occasion, which felt odd given the selection we made. We were hoping for some acknowledgment of the occasion, but nothing special was done, even though we noticed another table being presented with a complimentary birthday dessert and a gift (blue drink bottle). Additionally, after ordering from the main menu, we overheard another waitress informing a nearby table about nightly specials, including lamb and tomahawk, which had not been shared with us. This lack of information was disappointing, as we would have liked to consider those options. Instead, we ordered bone marrow as our starter and beef ribs, pork, rainbow trout, and whole chicken for our mains. On the positive side, the bone marrow and beef ribs were excellent rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. However, the rainbow trout had an overpowering fishiness, which detracted from the dish, and the pork was equally underwhelming. Overall, while some of the food was enjoyable, the service experience, from the missed celebration touches to inconsistent communication about specials, left us feeling undervalued.

Went with friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We ordered bone marrow for entree which was really delicious. For mains we all shared pork, chicken, rainbow trout and beef rib. The beef rib was so good but the other meals were just ok. The table next to us ordered the tomahawk which looked amazing and we would have ordered but our server never told us about the specials. Was extremely awkward as the waitress for the table next to us made a big deal about the birthday they were celebrating and even gave them gifts and dessert while we got nothing despite the server asking us if we were celebrating anything and didn t even say happy birthday when we told her. We had to ask the server to remove dirty glasses from the table as it was so full. Took a long time for the mains to come out. Cocktails were tiny.

Had an awful experience here tonight, went with my wife, food was amazing, we had 2 drinks! Before being told we were cut off. Both completely sober. We were looking forward to trying a few different types of mead ect on the menu, ended up arguing with the staff, Will never be coming back.

We mentioned it was our anniversary and the staff all signed a beautiful card that we will treasure forever. We loved it so much we booked again as we were leaving!! My party and I were absolutely shocked at how bad the service was, leaving us unattended for a long time, especially as we got closer to the end of the meal. Also, let your customer know the portions are huge, we got 1 main each and we left over half the food at the table. I wouldnt go back.

Came here for the first time on Valentines day and it was one of the most memorable places Ive been to. I especially enjoyed the Scandinavian theme throughout the food, drinks, service and vibe of the whole restaurant. They had a large range of Viking inspired cocktails and wide selection of hard liquors. I loved the strawberry & honey mead the most. The service was exceptional as well. All the staff were very friendly and approachable and even in a super busy environment, they were so helpful. The most interesting experience was being able to choose your own Viking knife for cutting your meats. The food was unique and not like anything I had tried before. The bone marrow was my favourite. I cannot recommend this place enough. Its perfect for even a first date or for large events. You can also browse and purchase from a large variety of Viking inspired items such as jewellery and knives. I definitely look forward to coming back.

Amazing venue, food, drinks and service. Our group really enjoyed the Viking and Nordic experience. The extra mead bottle we ordered to try was sensational. We loved the set menu and the food was absolutely exquisite. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us and even brought out a special birthday treat. We cannot wait to dine here again.

Celebrated a birthday dinner tonight and loved everything about the experience. Siri looked after us tonight with her big, bright smile. She was absolutely terrific.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and when I finally did, I was a little let down by the service and atmosphere. It seemed like such a cool, fun, interactive place. When we arrived the vibe was not set yet. The food was very tasty. I wouldn t recommend the bone marrow as it is expensive, not very tasty, and not a lot comes with it. But the beef short ribs were next level. I have to mark down on service because there were a couple of things that put me off. A waitress rudely interrupted us and said in such a rude way that we only had 20 minutes left so if we want dessert we have to order quickly. In my opinion, if there is a seating time limit that s fine, but it is up to the restaurant to ensure everything is flowing promptly so we have enough time for everything. I called ahead and asked if I could have 5-10 mins leniency because I was very pressed for time, they told me there is no way and I would be moved to a smaller table out of the way. So I rushed to make sure we were there on time, and was still put on a table out of the way when there was so much availability. To make it worse, we waited at least half an hour before our entree came out so giving me that 5-10 minutes wouldn t have hurt at all. At the end I wanted to pay cash. I was made to feel so inconvenient for this and waited 15 minutes for my change to be brought over. Obviously they weren t in as much of a hurry as they said, and with this wait time we could have enjoyed a dessert after all! It is a pretty pricey place, it is cool, but wasn t worth the hype in the end for me.

Just wow!!! Id been for drinks before, but definitely recommend the dinner. We had a delicious pork belly and salad washed down with mead from a horn. Service is incredible from every detail, a toast to the Gods (including Thor ) with a complimentary shot and a hand written birthday card on a paper Viking ship. Just wow! Will definitely be back to celebrate another special occasion!

The Northern Lights cocktail was an absolute highlight with its aromatic and refreshing twist. I was also thrilled to receive a signed copy of the head chef s cookbook, The Viking Feast. It s an amazing collection of recipes, Norse mythology, and behind-the-scenes stories that will change the way you host your next dinner party. The craftsmanship and passion behind the restaurant shine through every page it s truly something special! A great experience, with few faults. Mjølner does a great job of creating an amazing atmosphere, with exceptionally welcoming staff. For anyone who enjoys Nordic mythology, its well worth a visit just for that reason alone. The novelty of drinking mead out of a horn is also quite enjoyable, and is made all the more so by the fact the mead is wonderfully smooth. It goes down all too easy, and Id strongly recommend you dont drive to this venue, so you can freely enjoy as many horns as youd like. As for the food, you start off with a novel experience of selecting your knife, which feels more akin to choosing your weapon before battle. The food was thoroughly enjoyable and we ended up with leftovers. Im unsure how some other parties have managed to complain about serving size, unless they had appetites like the Norse gods, themselves. My only critique was that some of our group had some cuts of meat that were a little gristly for what youd expect for the price. Overall, it was a great dining experience and one that Id gladly recommend for people to try out, especially with friends/loved ones. I will certainly be returning at some point.

My company hosted a client evening here with some partners last week and the whole experience was 10/10. The staff were amazing throughout the whole night, the food was fantastic and the themed drinks were great. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to do client entertainment. The cookbooks and shot glasses also make a great client gift!

The atmosphere was phenomenal. Great for entertaining clients, friends or family. We had a function in a private room and everything about it was superb. Food and drinks are next level but the service really stood out - everyone was so friendly. Im definitely coming back with friends. Vegetarian options: The meats were fantastic but the veggies really stood out as some of the best Ive ever had. If youre a veggo - this place still has the goods!

Amazing, I took my dad here for a special fathers day event. His health hasnt been the best, and his year has been very turbulent, hed lost friends. So when I say he was happy, I mean that he went from -8 to 10/10 with this evening. The themes were tasteful, the staff were engaging and delightful, and the trainee wait staff we had were better then seasoned professionals at other restaurants. That night the value I got far exceeded the receipt and it is the first time I wanted to pay more. Its been a few years since I was last here and I can say in a market of slipping standards, this place has only gained value.

As soon as you walk in you feel like you re stepping into the world of the Vikings, the music, the clothing, the rustic feel, the weapons on the walls. Then comes the food and drink, which is fantastic. The beef short rib is simply sublime, the pork moist and crispy, the chicken with that chargrill flavour . The marrow bone and the shot of whisky was also amazing!! Even the broccoli and potatoes were fantastic!! The cocktail drinks package was excellent. Overall a fantastic night, great fun and a super atmosphere with great staff and a theme that was on point. Can t wait to come back next time I m in Sydney!

This is, by far, as good as it gets! We had the bone marrow and the luge, and a lamb shoulder! On top of the amazing food, there are so many details to the experience such as the amazing costumes, candles, Nordic themes, shields, boats, horns, carving knives, toasts, shot glasses, carved tables, castle/dungeon doors etc. It s such a feast for the mind and also the belly! I would have given it 6-stars if I could.

Mjølner is a must-visit for a unique dining experience! You have to try their special gum wine, and while I wouldn t recommend the seafood, the lamb dishes are fantastic. The Viking-inspired décor adds to the fun, especially when you get to choose your own knife. It s definitely a memorable but pricey experience!

Easily one of the best restaurant experiences in Sydney. The food is genuinely spectacular, the attention to detail and the sheer tasteful theatre of the whole thing is just wonderful. We had our 20th anniversary here, and we were presented with a card at the end of the evening that was signed by all the staff. It was such a wonderfully warm gesture that it really made our evening. Theres really so much to love about this place that its hard to put it all into a couple of paragraphs. Genuinely special venue. Weve been twice and definitely plan to go again.

This was our first time at Mjolner, I would highly recommend we had a great night the service was fantastic really enjoyed the food we had a variety of share plates from starters to our mains, great flavours and the meat plates were very tender.We enjoyed the Viking theme we were celebrating my sons birthday and at the end of the night as a nice touch he was given a small gift with a 3D card by the staff.Thank you for a lovely relaxed evening.

By Odins beard, Mjølner is a feast hall fit for the gods! The moment I stepped through the door, I felt like I had entered Valhalla itself though I was still very much alive (thankfully, as I wanted to eat). The ambiance was pure Viking, from the shields on the walls to the horns on the tables, and not a single raven in sight. The food? A meal Thor himself would smash a few goblets for. Every bite was a battle in itself my taste buds fought valiantly and lost to the flavors of perfectly cooked meats, fresh greens, and sauces so divine I wondered if they were enchanted by Freya herself. As for the staff, they must be descended from warriors-turned-hosts. Never before have I been served with such skill, grace, and the occasional wink that made me wonder if I should be preparing for battle or another course. If you seek a meal worthy of song, Mjølner is the place. Prepare your stomach, sharpen your axe (or fork), and let the feast begin! Skål!

Worth the experience.

Greedy. Wanting far too much for a meal and asking $2000 up front for a reservation is insane. Even the other packages of $200 per person is insane given the portion sizes. Table service is awful. You get 3 ribs with the spare ribs dish. You cant justify these prices and coast on the Viking themed gimmick alone. Owner needs to wake up and stop trying to get customers to pay for another story on his house.

Eating at Mjolner was an incredible dining and gastronomic experience! It can be easy to miss this place from out on the street as the door is very unassuming, but once you enter it is a very cool atmosphere, it feels like youve just entered a medieval tavern with even all the staff wearing medieval clothing, all the details were beautiful and very noticeable such as the dripping candles and horn decor. All the staff and the waitresses were very kind and attentive, we went for my friends birthday party but we were just keeping that on the down low, yet they overheard us and made it an even more special experience for my friend by bringing out the dessert later with a candle and also giving her a signed birthday card from the staff! The food was amazing, kudos to all the chefs! And we really enjoyed the interactive experiences such as choosing our own knives and having the waiters assist us with trying the bone marrow and talisker! The drinks, starters, mains, sides and desserts were 10/10! Even though it is a bit pricey, its okay because the meals are to share and I would say it absolutely worth every penny! Would definitely come back here again and will be telling everyone about this place! Thank you so much to the chefs and staff at Mjolner!

With the vibe of Nordic/Viking feast from the staff dress to the mead served in horns to the platters of meat and veg that you carve off with your personal blade, its just a great experience that leaves you well fed. The atmosphere allows you to still speak with fellow diners while being immersed in a soundtrack of thematic music. And the quality of the produce used is perfectly matched with the variety of tastes and flavours and the quality of the cook. A really enjoyable night of shared feasting enhanced by the care and attention of Henri and all the wait staff. Vegetarian options: This meal was a 8 person set menu, and extra care was provided to ensure our 3 vegetarians were well catered for. No one left wanting more food. Dietary restrictions: Inquiries for diet were asked but we did not have any.

I visited on the recommendation of a local. Although we didnt have a reservation, we were told that we could wait at the bar until a table became available, so we waited for about 15 minutes while looking at the menu before being shown around. It had a great atmosphere and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The amount of food was large, so it was more than enough for two people.

Youve taken the spot as my girlfriends all-time favourite restaurant (which means a lot considering shes a huge foodie)! She absolutely loved it, and you made me look really good having booked with you guys for her birthday. Service was impeccable, staff were very friendly and committed to the immersion of the theme of the restaurant in their service. They really made us feel very welcomed and cared for, and the whole experience made the Viking theme feel less of a gimmick and more of an immersive experience - I actually felt like I should have been in costume! Both of us are definitely coming back and bringing all of our friends and family so we can all yell SKAL together.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last night and its safe to say, this restaurant is now my all-time fave! The restaurant was nicely decorated, very on theme, and the food was so delicious. We ordered the Charred Venison, the Beast, a side of Baby Potatoes and a Bone Marrow Brulee, which was more than enough for the both of us. The Venison and the Beast were my main recommendations as the meat and accompanying sauces were so flavourful and added great depth to the dishes. Above all though, I was so blown away with how immersive the experience was. To call this place just another hole in the wall restaurant would be such a disservice as it was definitely so much more than that. The service team made you feel like you were very much a Viking character with their incredible storytelling and attention to detail (e.g. welcome shots, choosing your weapons and serving drinks in a very unique way). Thanks team for all your hard work and dedication, I cant wait to bring my loved ones here!

Mjølner was the perfect venue to host my birthday party! I wanted a venue that offered not just magnificent food but an experience that I would remember. I highly recommend it. My son still talks about the jerusalem artichoke starter and hes no friend of the vegetable! Mjølner ended the evening by presenting me with a birthday card signed by all the staff and a Viking necklace perfect for any shield maiden!

I had the pleasure of lunch at thus fantastic restaurant today. They had a set lunch special and it was fantastic. The table seating was with other guests which made it all the more fun. The food was something different which is a pleasant change to the run of the mill meals at other restaurants. And the Mead - now that is something you have to try to appreciate- sooo bloody good. Very interesting themed restaurant. The design of atmosphere, menus, drinks have been done with a lot of dedication and love. We love the food a lot! Our beef ribs portion was big enough to fit two of us. Absolutely live the drinks offerings! Beer and honey based drinks have unique twist that made it fantastic! Waiters were themed as well and great adon to atmosphere. We kind of lived through experience, not just having a meal. Special thanks to the team for extra attention to my wifes birthday. Immediately after entering we were taken back centuries by the atmosphere. Combining distinct aesthetics and stoic music, our party was welcomed into a new world enhancing our overall experience. The unique outfits staff wore strengthened the imaginative world we were invited into. Once down the stairs, we were greeted by friendly staff (who seemed to really enjoy working there) who were happy to go above and beyond expectations. For example, using a little chants prior to a shot of a mystery beverage (I dont remember what it was ) , as well as detailed staff recommendations which they always did it with a smile . Additionally the staff were more than happy to take photos with you. Side note, ask for the Viking gown and sword when taking a photo, it creates an entertaining image! Food was DELICIOUS. Drinking mead out of a horn, an exciting and fun experience I have never had before. Additionally, on the way out they gave me a little birthday card signed by the staff which reinforced the positive image of customer service I had already built from the night.

There is nothing to criticise or complain about this remarkable dining experience - and it is an experience! You are taken back to a time where food was festive and connected with faith. The food and the service combine to remind you of how dining used to be, yet at the same time the artistry of food and beverage is next level contemporary. And as a vegetarian, this seems the last place Ive want to eat but options for those of us who prefer the marrow alive and in the beast, are extermely well catered for. Add a dash of theatrics and this is a must visit for that specual occasion or for a quick jaunt to the past.

Omg. I was amazed by this place! The food was delicious. We ordered prawns cut in half came with 2 serves. And the bone marrow for entree. Delicious! And for the mains we ordered the Venison shank to share with the Brussel sprouts and corn sides. Blown away! Service was amazing too they offer you a shot before you start your night. Your beers are served In horns. This place is definitely unique . Job well done.

How can we describe the experience? It was phenomenal. This place is honestly second to none. The food, staff, atmosphere cant be topped by any place, we had come here for my birthday this evening and the fact they actually went out of their way to sign a card and give me a such a pretty shot glass was just sweet and honestly made my birthday. We had the porkbelly, short ribs, two deserts and the bone marrow. Highly recommend the food is just top tier. I ended up buying their cook book with the leather case and a necklace had to support them plus they were brilliant too. Myself and my two best mates went here on my birthday and we couldnt have been more blown away. The staff were incredible and the food and drink were amazing. As soon as we sat down the hostess came and gave us a complimentary shot and a prayer to the Aesir. We then had venison and bone marrow (which at first I was apprehensive to try but it was devine.) Our mains consisted of the Tomahawk steak, potatos and broccoli. This is the only place where I will be going out of my way to order broccoli! Throughout the night we were treated so well by the staff, who always came to engage with our table but were never overbearing. I was also treated to a gift of the shot glass that we used at the start of our night and a card signed by the entire front of house, as they sang to me and the plate dresser blew the war horn. It is not an experience Ill be forgetting soon, me and the boys have been talking high praise about it to anyone who will listen. We will most certainly be returning with our horns empty and ready for filling. SKAL!

You got to give credit when credit is due. Food was incredible. Drinks were great. Wonderful staff. Theme was cool. Highlights were the beer horn, bone marrow, oysters, venison and the chicken.

Hidden behind an unassuming door is one of my favourite places in Sydney to take guests to for a fantastic dining experience. The food is consistently amazing, the service is fantastic, and the drinks are worth popping in for alone. The theme never gets old even on my fifth visit. If you have a special event on like a birthday or anniversary, they go out if their way to make you feel special and typically gift you a card or something else special. It s a beautiful touch. This place for me would 100% be a 5 star venue, the only reason why I ve deducted a point is due to the service charge + on top their staff asking you for a tip (it s always an uncomfortable situation, and while I always do tip here due to the great service we get, I just don t support a tipping culture in Australia - totally personal opinion). I will continue to return, I still highly recommend Mjolner. Tip: Book in advance.

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Took my partner here for his milestone birthday last night and the evening was absolute perfection. I had ordered a whisky tumbler and they had it gift wrapped and on the table for when we arrived. Service was amazing, staff were beautiful and accommodating, theme was incredibly detailed with beautiful Viking ambience music playing in the background. Loved the food!!! Full compliments to the chefs. We ordered 1 entree (charred venison) and 2 mains (Beef Short Ribs and Pork Belly) as we wanted to try both (huge servings). They were sooo good. Melted in our mouths, flavours were amazing and it took us back to a time where Vikings reigned. Upon leaving, our waitress bought over my partner a card that had been signed by the entire staff that evening and a beautiful shot glass in a velvet pouch as their way of saying Happy Birthday. We had a really great night at Mjølner, the atmosphere of the restaurant is unique and the service was excellent. Getting to choose your knife was novel and the whiskey options were good. I m sure most people come here to enjoy the meat dishes but we came away liking the vege dishes more

I had my reservations when my father booked, but was quite won over by the end of the evening. Top-class whisky selection (the Dalmore 18-year old, Dalwhinnie distillers edition, et al) that took me by surprise: Glencairn glass and all; charming staff; immersive (costumes, runes, music, &c.), but not overdone; food was marvellous (meat peeled right off the bone I did not know there was such a thing as maple mustard); card with a pop-up long-ship came with the bill. Bar closed a touch too early. . .

I absolutely cannot fault the dining experience I had at Mjølner. Probably one of the best service we have ever received. We were seated by a lovely waiter (forgot his name) who welcomed us with a complimentary shot and it was surprisingly delicious, and not to mention, a great start to our evening. We also had a go at the Bone Marrow Luge as it seemed intriguing and we have never heard of it - I recommend this dish as it was absolutely delicious and the additional shot! Come the mains, a we were then asked to choose our knives which were carved beautifully. It added to the experience making it fun. The roast beef spare ribs was very tender, melting in your mouth like butter. The trout stood out for me as the roasted purées complimented the trout a lot. From the service down to our meals, everything was top-tier. It definitely lived up to our expectations. At the end of our meal, we were gifted with a custom card which was lovely. We were treated like true Vikings feasting the night. We will definitely recommend Mjølner to our family and friends!

First: cocktails creations are genius, delicious, complex and perfectly executed by the bartenders. The atmosphere of this hidden place is really unique. With beautifully dressed and make-up waitresses and a waiter with a fantastic beard! Everyone was so lovely at all times and the food was mouthwatering. The little touch at the end threw the axe in our hearts. Could seem pricey for some but 100% worthy. To add in your Sydney wish list for sure! Thanks for all, amazing Vikings! Skäll!!

Exactly what you would expect of a Viking themed restaurant! Beef was tender and fell right off the bone -delicious. Music, vibes, decor, attire all awesome. Just the right amount of volume too, wasnt quiet, but also not deafening. Lots of attention to detail down to chef drumming a large bone to call the wait staff insted of a bell. Went for a birthday, and the staff signed a beautiful 3D card and gave a small gift. Absolutely gobsmacked at the generosity. Wonderful night!

This place, I don t think there are words to explain how magnificent, or inspiring, and a delight to the sensors that this place is, I ve been waiting for William Shakespeare to come back and at least give me some words on how to describe this place, You start by walking in through a secret door in plain sight on a common street and unless you know what s here you d walk straight past it. You descend down some stairs the lighting dissipates you notice candles on the wall and as you hit the bottom of the stairs you feel like you ve stepped back in time over 1000 years and walked into a Viking den All staff addressed themed clothing. I think I fell in love with Freya. One of my waitresses. All drinks are served out of horns whether it s glass or actual bison horn cutlery and everything is off period theme. It will take me 1000 years to try and describe how brilliant every piece of article in this place has been timed and prime placed. Absolutely love the bearded chef. This guy beard is so impressive. It needs a place in the Guinness book of record instead of ringing a dinner bell. He thumps a massive dinosaur bone and the staff come running. The food here is supremely cooked and it has an old style theme/flavour to it One of my favourite parts choosing my cutlery. The rules are simple. You touch the knife. You must use it. It s like you re drawn to each blade begins given a horn to open it for the prayer to Loki brackets which is a little traditional Nordic theme) comes and there is no way You can understand how glorious this food is until you taste it. It is more traditional than modern but the modern twist brings in such a wonderful flare nicely. I wish I could ve tried everything on the menu but in time I will. Its definitely not a cheap night out, but comparing to similar priced restaurants, I think you get more and definitely get your moneys worth considering the overall experience with the food, the ambience, and all the thoughtful touches. We flew down from Brisbane to come here because it was recommended and it was worth every cent. Andy had the best vibe and introduced us to the place with such incredible energy. Our server Emily went above and beyond and absolutely made our night, she was absolutely beautiful. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The food and the service are exceptional. Just let go of all expectations and enjoy every moment like a child. Brilliant. You can tell by my photo the food was amazing because I didnt think to pick up my phone and take a photo until we had finished!

Mjolner was a fun experience. Great and enthusiastic service. Atmosphere was like a beer hall and getting to choose your own cutlery was a nice touch. We had the venison as an entree. The beef shortrib was so tender you couldve cut it with your spoon. Also had the pork belly, but I was disappointed to see that it was pork loin. Similar, but not the same.

Really nice dinner experience! The sparkling mead was not too sweet compared to what you d expect. The salmon and venison starters were delicious, and the skin on the pork main was amazing. It s really cool that you get to drink from horns, and select your own carving knife- HOWEVER the knife was super dull and we had a hard time cutting our food LOL. I wish we had sharper knives. Overall a great experience and a fun time!

She was the perfect hostess (please give her all the tips), she has a great sense of humour, brilliant energy and knowledge of the menu and venue. Our server, Nicole, introduced herself at the beginning, came back to check on us once just after mains - and then completely vanished and didnt hand over the table to any other staff or let her collegues know what was happening. As a result, we were waiting for our mains to be cleared and to receive desserts - only to be told at 11pm, that the kitchen was closing and did we want to order any more food? When we asked where our waitress was and that we were waiting for service/desserts- got a very surprised look from the second waitress..... We also had to explain about a food allergy again, as there was something in the desserts that one guest couldnt eat - and our original server did not communicate this allergy to any collegues... so they hastily brought out dessert plates while still clearing the table from other dishes and empty drink glasses (again, original server never returned to clear anything... and we had to ask for table water 3 times throughout the night)... and then rushed/pressured us to sort out the bill.... which i can totally understand when the place shuts at midnight..... but it was not our fault being there so late when our table was neglected of service, and the staff did not communicate with each other. Given the price of food, and how much the bill was...definitely expected far better hospitality service than what was received. It ended the whole experience on a awkward note, and could have been avoided had the server handed the table over instead of just leaving with no communication to her collegues. Thank you again, the food was perfect. Hope the other issues can be addressed for others visiting.

Came to celebrate my birthday with my family. Second time we have been here and it is awesome. The food is amazing and the drinks are lovely. Dominique our waitress was awesome. Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday.

Great place to go berserker . with food

I usually shy away from concept restaurants, as the food tends to be not as great. This is not the case here! The atmosphere is great, staff is super friendly and kind, and the food is so good and true to the scenery! We truly had a great time. I recommend taking the bone marrow and then getting the whiskey shot, the short rib was delicious and tender, and dont skip on the mead horn!

The door is a single wooden door kinda hard to spot reminds me of a speak easy, then you get transported into this wonderfully furnished restaurant. The staff are all dressed up and the food is amazing it is a life time experience.
