Food is good, parking is a nightmare though

Breakfast is very close to our home, I like their meals, coffee and atmosphere.

This was my go to for years and I tried to keep this my place although Im done. Its just not what it was at all anymore which was my favorite spot to grab breakfast when in Regina. Sad.

Great food. Lovely atmosphere. Very slow and at times inattentive after a number of patient requests

I dined at this restaurant the 21st of november around past 2pm and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience with both the service and food quality. When placing my order, the server asked which side I would like with my meal. I inquired about the soup of the day, and she had to leave to check with the kitchen as she didn t know what it was. Upon returning, she informed me it was lentil soup. While I m not a huge fan, I was open to trying it given the cold weather, so I asked her opinion, saying, Is it good? To my surprise, she responded with a dismissive attitude, saying, I don t know, I just started my shift. This unprofessional and abrupt response was disappointing and left a poor impression. Additionally, we noticed the same server chit-chatting with her co-workers nearby, openly complaining about a colleague. While they were busy with their personal conversation, another customer was waiting at the cashier and clearly needed assistance. The customer had to say, Excuse me, after waiting for an unreasonably long time before being acknowledged. When our soups finally arrived, mine was cold, and my friend s soup (tomato & basil) was overly sour. While the restaurant did replace our soups, the entire experience left us feeling uneasy and frustrated it felt like the day just wasn t going right in the restaurant. I had originally planned to order coffee, dessert, and a sandwich to go for my husband, but by this point, I had completely lost faith in the service and quality and decided against it. Finally, as we were leaving after paying, the server gave a half-hearted Have a good day while turning around and walking away, which felt dismissive and insincere.

This place was a gem, we dropped in on a Sunday, it was very busy. Staff worked hard to keep up and service was very good. Kitchen was a little slow but worth the wait. Meals top notch well presented and thought out. Folks living in the neighbourhood are fortunate to have this restaurant handy.

Food was okay, I personally prefer a tangier hollandaise, however it was let down by the very poor service.

5 Stars all the way around! Every now and then you stumble onto a gem of a restaurant where the chef has gone above and beyond to have his creation stand out. 3 of us stopped in for breakfast, and all had the eggs Benny! One had the Salmon Benny, while two of us had the regular Eggs Benny. The English muffin was toasted to perfection, the pea meal bacon was excellent, the free range eggs were cooked to perfection, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. Even the hashbrown potatos were a cut above the rest. They may have been frozen, but they appeared to be made from fresh baked potatoes, cut into Hash browns, and cooked to perfection. The salad and dressing was also excellent. I also had a side of brisket, which was also top notch and had me already considering another visit to try out the Brisket Benny, or some of their other Brisket meals options. All of this was washed down with a great tasting ceaser. The staff, and atmosphere where very welcoming.

Excellent gluten-free options. They have a separate fryer for GF. Fish tacos were delicious and their French fries are the best Ive ever had.

Its worth everything.

When for a family event. First time for all of us to try Roots. Was looking forward to trying it after all the reviews. Servers were very new which was ok and understandable they werent the fastest. They tried their best. Seems like two servers werent enough to take care of the people in the restaurant. Drinks took a long time to bring out and we started with an appetizer which they missed one item on the appetizer. I lived with that but when our meals came out about 4 of the meals were cold. The servers didnt come to check on us to see how everything was because it was busy so we just ate. They did ask after but we just wanted to eat by then. It was very slow and wasnt worth the wait to receive a cold meal. I dont blame the staff it seems they needed more people to work the room. We spent well over $300 on the meal and can honesty say we will never go back. Thankfully we werent in a rush that night and spent a lot of time talking. Not sure if this was a one off. I hope this was the case. There are far better places in Regina to eat.

Worst service we have ever experienced. Waited to be seated for 10 minutes with empty tables, then seated for 30 minutes and only received water after we ordered 3 drinks, waitress just continued walking around endlessly filling coffees up. Don t recommend going here.

This is my first time I ve visited roots and tried different varieties of food. The smash burger was so delicious and it was recommended by one of the staffs named Sanjina. The service was really nice and the environment of the premises was familiar to families and friends to enjoy their special moments. I will definitely recommend to try the foods in roots and will suggest my friends to go there.

Am updated review. Having visited several times now, I can say the food has been overall great. Theres is something on the menu for everyone, and it is now than filing portion wise. The restaurant takes some chances with its food, and I hope to see how the menu changes in time.

Drove 35 min from east of regina, Saturday afternoon at 145 pm, closed to public today. Real nice, maybe if you cant accomodate the care home and regular public, then dont advertise all over tv 5x a day how great it is. Was looking forward to trying it but will spend my $ elsewhere. Edit: recently gave them a retry, food was fantastic, beef barbacoa quesadilla, food was great, prices not too bad and a real good service, will definitely be back..

They made a couple of mistakes with my order but the waitress was really nice, food was really good too

Food came cold but was still tasty

I gave them one star because there is no place for no stars. My husbandand I went for supper and the waitress didnt seem to know much about the menu. Pasta is listed as gluten free yet she came back to say the pasta he ordered wasnt gluten free. Then after 20 minutes we were told the sausage wasnt gluten free either and my supper was already done. We had my meal packed up and left - never to return. Terrible service. Dietary restrictions: Dont ask for gluten free because they dont know.

Service is AWFUL! servers are rude!

I was excited to try this place but was really disappointed- the food was sub par at best the blackened chicken wrap was blackened at all. The pickerel was bland with on scoop of white rice no flavour on the plate at all. The waitress never asked how the food was or even came back to check on drink refills. Charged $3 for a can of pop which I don t mind paying $3 but usually that comes with a refill option. Disappointed $100 for 2 meals and I would not go again.

Parking: Across from soccer pitch, lots of games going on. Had to park over a block away. Was a beautiful day, enjoyed watching kids play soccer. Food

Wonderful

First time here and I had a huge mimosa for a great price and I think maybe the best beef dip Ive ever had. A little chintsy on the fries (since their so cheap) but still tasted good. Our server went missing and then we had a new one. Maybe ours got off for the day? She didnt say anything. And the other lady was alone in the whole place so we ended up waiting an extra 10 or so minutes to get our bill and pay. But we will be back anyway :)

Been here a few times and never had bad food, always heard the pozza was great but never tried. Got a chance tonight and both my pizza and side Caesar were phenomenal. Thanks guys!

This place would have earned five stars, as the food was delicious, the atmosphere nice and relaxing and the service wonderful. The only fallback? The bacon covered lobster bites. 20 dollars for five tiny pieces of lobster so covered in bacon that you couldnt taste the lobster itself. Everything else is great; just avoid that sham of an appetizer that is extremely overpriced and underwhelming.

Best experience out in a long time. Ultimate Burger and Short Rib Sandwich to die for. Atmosphere amazing. So happy we chose this place for date night after a couple bad experiences.

Overall food was good, Beer was great, but waitress was so so at best. It is a great atmosphere and their food selection is very good.

The service was horrible. Our server never came back once to see if we needed anything. E had to wave her down to tell her we found a hair in our food. We had to fight to get a discount on our meal. Would never go back there.

Great food, and service, good prices. As it is a small intimate setting, it can get a bit noisy when its busy.

I loved this place! Me and 3 friends came here for lunch on our girls day and the service was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious, there was nothing not to love. We ended up going here after a simple google search alongside the great reviews. The server was very kind and made sure we knew what was what. The environment gives off great vibes and it was just so much fun. I definitely want to take my fiancé here next time we re in the city.

We arrived for lunch without a reservation, and they were able to accommodate us at the last available table. The service was outstanding; the service was exceptional.

Went in with a bigger group for brunch and we were not disappointed! The staff were all friendly and helpful getting us seated, and the service was prompt even though the place was very busy. The menu is terrific, with lots of options and very reasonable prices. Portion sizes were perfect, and the food itself was delicious! Everyone had a fantastic experience. I will absolutely be going back, and recommend trying it out if youve never been. Just note that they close a bit on the earlier side if youre looking for a dinner option in the evenings.

I just came there from removing snow in a very cold temperature of -28 degrees and i asked the person(Precious)working there for a coffee.when i tried to pay for it, she said that i could take that for free. I really appreciate it. Service

My favourite restaurant in the city, you can taste the quality of the ingredients they use.

Visited today for Sunday brunch. The chicken and waffles are amazing. My friends had the avocado toasty and the eggs Benedict, which they said were tasty. The only thing with this place is to bring your patience, service is on the slower side.

Walked in at 7:15 to have supper, 2 people only. Even called ahead to make sure it wasn t too late. Once we arrived we were informed kitchen would be closing in less than 10 minutes. So even though it s open until 8, wouldn t expect to eat in under 45, especially looking at some of the past reviews on waiting time & finding food cold. Pretty horrible customer service for being in the restaurant business. Never been turned away from dining 45 minutes to close. Glad we left

Mediocre food; terrible service. Nobody was available to seat us and once they noticed us, we were pointed to a table from across the room and left to figure out where were supposed to go. Once we seated ourselves we waited another 15 minutes to even see our server again, who promptly barked Do you know what you want? - not even bothering to ask if wed like something to drink. Not that wed know what our drink options were anyway, seeing as there is no drinks menu available (I had to look at the online menu for some clue, which of course didnt give anything other than coffee, water and soda even though theres a full bar) and clearly our server wasnt interested in enlightening us. My husband kept adding salt and pepper to his brisket mac and cheese because it was so bland and flavourless that eventually he even considered ketchup just for some colour and taste. My chicken and (microscopic) brie ciabatta was dripping with grease to the extent that it ran down the side of my hand. Why didnt we complain? Simply because nobody was interested in even clearing the tables around us - even though theyd been vacated for ages - and once we finally got the servers attention away from FaceTime or TikTok or whatever she deemed more important than the customers, we were so fed up that we were just happy to get out of there. Dont waste your time. We wont again.

This used to be one of my favourite places for breakfast. The service has gone completely downhill. I went three separate times thinking that the other time were off. Last year went to go for Mother s Day. I had called prior to see if reservations were required and was told no, it is walk-in only. The people ahead of us were told the same thing to then be turned away after waiting 20 minutes for someone to come say anything (it was busy so have the benefit that they would come check on people waiting when they had a moment). Went again a few months ago, again waited a while, took way to long for the server to come ask what was needed and then another long wait for food. Went in this morning. It took 10 minutes for them to sit us (not that bad of wait) told us that we could sit and just pointed to the table. There were 4 of us, they only provided 3 menus. It took 20 minutes for the server to ask what we would like to drink. Asked for 3 coffees and a milk. Only 2 coffees came and then had to ask another 2 time for the other coffee and milk. Only 2 spoons for the coffee. The coffee was gross. Cream and sugar couldn t fix it. Ordered an ice tea, had to ask for that twice as well. There wasn t enough cutlery as it was only set for 3, asked for another fork. Again had to ask twice for this. It really sucks that the food is so good but the service is abysmal.

We had our Christmas supper here on the 24th. There were seven of us and the service was very good. All of us had the turkey dinner. The food was okay but nothing over the top that makes me want to rave. Of note, while we were eating, we got to watch a real, live Karen in the Wild. The two young servers went out their way to accommodate her but no offer or answer would make Karen happy.

Great spot

Went to go for lunch today with 3 adults and two children. There were 4 empty tables of 4. They told us we had to wait still. A group of 4 came in after us (they did not have a reservation) and they were immediately seated at a corner table. They did not even offer to add a chair to any of the empty tables for us. The service was extremely slow, I watched a table of two have to flag a waitress over to order after having menus for 20 minutes at least. I was really looking forward to eating there for the first time. Now, unfortunately, I will never go again.

Un petit repas nous reviens a 60$ avec le tip et les frais de uber. charger 10$ de plus car on utilise uber est fou. Je donnerais 5 étoile, mais depuis que les frais sont passés de 7$ a 10$ je nai plus jamais commander. Deja que 7$ était ridicule.

I ve ordered off DoorDash from roots many times, one particular item - the strawberry avocado salad. My orders used to come perfectly but the last few times I have received the wrong dressing for my salad. When I called the restaurant to rectify the error I was told the cook said it was his bad and they would be more careful (keep in mind it s my second night in a row receiving the wrong dressing). There was no effort to refund or fix the issue, when I asked to speak to a manager I was told there is no manager here or supervisor and that there was nothing they could do for me. Great food when it s right but awful customer service when it s not.

My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here on our dates. The food is amazing, the staff are fantastic I have never been dissatisfied there yet! (The lemon grass chicken bowl has a bit of a kick though, FYI ) Only con, parking is a nightmare. But its worth it. Kid-friendliness: Its a family environment that I have seen. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for those who are disabled. Main floor entry.

If you just come for the atmosphere the place would be great for its unique decor but the food and service is subpar. We had a very long wait after ordering our food, when the food eventually showed up my pork cutlet was ice cold and gravy had congealed on top. Both my girlfriend and I had cooked vegetables that were cold and my girlfriends potatoes were cold as well. They mixed up my order as well bringing a salad with my meal when I had requested soup. We were with a group and we were having water and the waiter refused to leave a pitcher at the table when we requested this and said he would come back with water when we needed it. Why would they do that?? One of our friends had brought their daughter and they didnt offer a kids menu and didnt bring cutlery for her to the table. The staff didnt come to check on us in between and when we waved at the wait staff that we wanted our bills they didnt come over and we had to go to the till to pay. They did take money off for the food that was cold so they at least did that. So come for the atmosphere if you want but dont expect to get a good meal or good service when you do.

Got the eggs Benedict and it was awesome, eggs on top were kinda small tho! It even came with a salad on the side. Thats a first for me, normally its just the Benedict and hash browns. Salad was really tasty too. Ill be coming back. An unfortunate part is that my wifes pancakes where still raw in the middle :( Food

Came here a few months back and o it waitress was so kind to let us stay a little after closing since my friend and I had to break our fast. The food was good and the overall feel of the restaurant was nice. Would come again.

I ordered the three cheese spinach artichoke dip appy which came with house made corn tortilla chips. The dip itself was delicious and the tortilla chips were the perfect thickness and crispness and not over salted. I even ordered some tortilla chips to go because they were so perfect. I also ordered the pickled beets salad. I cant say enough about it either, it was delicious! The service was great, the restaurant was clean, on the bathrooms uniquely decorated. This was my first time going and I will definitely be going back!

Went to Roots Kitchen And Bar for the first time tonight. Wont be the last! Harpreet greeted and seated us promptly and was very friendly the entire time we were there. Very attentive, keeping my water glass filled (especially appreciated because it was a warm day!) and stopping by the table to make sure everything was alright. Saw her skipping in the back at one point, showing that her good mood and disposition were genuine. The Smashed Burger was really good, and I appreciated that Roots doesnt have set toppings, rather allowing the diner to select exactly what they want. Looking forward to trying some of the other interesting looking menu items another time!

Came in for lunch and ended up waiting 50 minutes for our food. Burger had raw beef in it and the chicken Alfredo was mush. Would highly recommend McDonalds over the Roots as the service and food is far superior at McDonalds (unfortunately).

Had a bacon cheddar burger with salad and bacon wrapped lobster, and it was delicious! My daughter loved her chicken fingers as well.

Wow I feel bad for the server at this place! We came in for a bite after Getting back from Saskatoon. We were told to wait about 10 min for a table which was fine. We went at a pretty busy time. As we stood and waited we noticed that there was only 1 waitress and a restaurant that holds about 50+ ppl! Shame on the owners! If you are going to charge what a high end restaurant charges then why can t you afford staff!? If you don t have the help then you should be there helping! That poor waitress was literally running I really hope she gets every single tip that was made this evening because she deserves it and she should probably be making a double wage!

We like this place normally. Service is usually great although this last time seemed like we were a bother. It seemed to take forever for our food to come and there was only one other table with customers. Unsure what happened. This hasnt happened before.

Service was great, food pretty good and the place is pretty cozy. Sadly it took over an hour to just get a burger and a service of fish & ships. I know it s not a fast food restaurant but the long waiting was unnecessary for the items we ordered. The burger had all of my favourites, the bacon, the caramelized onions, the cheese, the beef barbacoa and the beef patty. I will personally skip the layer of Doritos and would go easier on the BBQ sauce

My avocado and strawberry salad with chicken was delicious! The rest of my party was happy with their entrees, also. My youngest, who swears Kraft Mac n Cheese is the best, ate their version with no problems. My oldest loved the burger and fries.

Me and my partner drove to this restaurant thinking that it was a good restaurant to visit as we are new to the city. Standing there for 5 minutes, there were 3 employees on the counter no one greeted or seared us. Not accommodating to customer....

I ve been a regular cappuccino customer here for a very long time. Best cappuccino in the city. The food is excellent and the service is incomparable. The decor is very inviting and the breakfast and lunch specials are priced very reasonable. And the dessert menu well don t even get me started! I love this place.

My family and I have been looking forward to eating at this restaurant for months and were left quite disappointed. We ordered lunch from the express menu and waited over an hour for our food to arrive. We had also ordered dessert, and when ordering, we asked the server if it had any tree nuts, as I am allergic, and the menu did not specify. She said no and brought out the cake. I took a bite of the cake, and chunks of walnuts were inside. Even after mentioning it, we were still charged for it. Unfortunately, this is not a place we will be going back to.

The server was nice, but not super attentive. The food took quite a while and was not great. My date had fish and chips and the fish was cold when it came out. Half of their fries were also cold. I ordered the noodle bowl. It s nothing like you d expect when ordering a noodle bowl. The sauce was really acidic. The bowl itself was really plain aside from the strong raw onions. And the spring roll was super greasy. Don t think I ll be back.

SO DELICIOUS! I had the Reuben sandwich and it was probably the best Reuben I have ever had. Perfect amount of everything on it and the bread was toasted perfectly (not too hard so that it didnt cut your mouth, you know what I mean?!) Hubby had the short ribs sandwich absolutely loved it too. He also upgraded to onion rings with the Chipotle sauce and OH. MY. GOSH. Amazing. So delicious. I just wish they were open slightly later in the evening (at least once a week) so that we could go for a late night cocktail. (They are only open until 9pm their latest night). I would like to go around 9 for about an hour some nights. Just something I hope they can add in the future as they say they are a kitchen &bar after all. I had the coconut mule and it was sweet but so good.

Excellent food, and server was very courteous and prompt. Food took a while to arrive but its understandable as they were very busy during the brunch hours.

A very nice and clean place

Went for my partner s birthday a couple weeks ago. The drinks were super fast but the food took so long that you were done your drink before even getting the appetizers, basically making you pay for yet another drink or to just have your water. There were maybe 3 other groups/couples in the restaurant when we went and it seemed like the whole restaurant got their meals at the same time. We were extremely hungry by the time the food came out, but it was very delicious. Finding parking took a hot minute, no actual parking lot. We re both on the fence about returning due to the unusually long wait time.

The other night I ordered two items and had them delivered. I live literally 3 blocks away. Not only did it take an hour to get there but one of the two was not what I ordered so I called to let them know. The lady that answered was hard to hear and understand. I had to explain 3 times that Id ordered a Taco pizza and not fish tacos. She said sorry but basically blew me off and never offered a solution or to fix my order. The following day I went there having paid for something I hadnt received. Neither the manager or head chef were there so I left my name and number. Havent heard from them. Great business practices. I did enjoy the sausage and shrimp fettuccine but thats not the point is it?

Stopped in here as we were attending a conference and I was blown away with their Roots burger. Phenomenal, I eat a lot of burgers from different places and this is in the top 3 for sure. Well done keep it up!

We held our annual football windup last night which Chris catered. The food was amazing, service and the whole experience were top notch. Highly, highly recommend his service for all your catering needs!!!!!!!! Will use Roots again for future events. Thanks so much Chris

Roots Kitchen & Bar catered out Christmas Dinner. Everyone attending love the food. It was hot upon arrival & tasted great. We had plenty of food to go back for more. The service was excellent & I always received emails back when contacting the staff. I highly recommend Roots Kitchen & Bar for your next event. Pricing was very reasonable. Parking: Street only but good room for pick up of food.

We recently chose Roots Kitchen & Bar for our departments Christmas lunch catering, and it turned out to be an absolute delight! The attention to detail in accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies was impressive. The generous serving sizes ensured everyone could go back for seconds, and everyone s favorites were the delectable Pasta Salad and Potato Salad. The quality of the food truly made our celebration memorable. Kudos to Roots Kitchen and Bar team for exceeding our expectations. Highly recommended for any special occasion catering needs!

Casual dining for lunch . Meals were well proportioned and very tasty.

Unique location in a suburb across from a park. Great views of the park and a nice calm relaxed feel. Loved the food. Large portions and reasonable prices. Staff was fantastic. Greatly exceeded my expectations!

This place is awesome, the breakfast is great and I have been there evenings mostly. The waitress Ema was a piece of heaven to be honest:.) she was kind and sweet and really helpful.

2021 turned into Residents only dining area due to pandemic) Had a tour and Excellent executive chef preview. Local food provided when in season. Great meals for great prices and dessert and kids menu to come. Also high chairs and a nice room with books to keep kids contained

The food here is really good and reasonably priced. Their pastrami sandwich and salmon egg Benedict are top notch! The service is great too.

Inconsistent, mediocre food. Slow to arrive and when it does, its usually cold. Portion sizes vary each time. Also, please dont advertise that your meals are high end and homemade. Due to allergy restrictions, we ask alot of questions about ingredients. Always told that Roots cannot guarantee a particular ingredient wont be in what we want to order because it is not made in house. From what I gather, everything on the menu seems to come parcooked and prepackaged. The servers and atmosphere are fantastic, however, weve just been dissapointed by the food one too many times to bother going back.

Waited about 30 minutes to get a table. Nice ambience. Good Italian Sausage Skillet and Prairie bomb cocktail. My pal had to get his food reheated as it wasn t served hot. Server was wonderful and got us 30% off our bill.

I ordered beef short ribs with Merlo demi sauce. The waitress said they could remove all the night shades and I still got to have sauce on my meal! (restaurants generally just remove all the sauce instead of altering it for me) The meat was moist and tender and the vegetables were perfectly cooked (with butter I think). However, I did get fairly sick from my meal unfortunately, so there was something left in it that irritated my stomach. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options, they kindly removed nightshades (but I did get sick from the meal, so Im not sure if it was nightshades or something else). I asked if milk was in the gf almond torte and the waitress was very willing to check the ingredients! (There is milk in the torte)

If you havent been here you need to !! The atmosphere is amazing and the food is great. This is a go to stop for casual or business lunches. Would recommend as its a hidden gem of Regina.

..we were the 1st customers..3 other tables came in right after us..we were ready to order..waitress took other peoples order before ours..2 other tabes got their food before us..our food was cold..waitress never stopped by our table for a refill of coffee or to ask how our meal was..not a great experience

Second time being here and it was perfect, used for a business meeting and the atmosphere was ideal. Would highly recommend eating hers or taking out. You wont regret it.

We had the Bacon wrapped Lobster for an appy, then I had the Blackened Chicken Entree, followed by Carrot Cake Cheesecake. Every dish was delicious. Our server was excellent. I definitely recommend Roots as a great place to dine.

Food was delicious, very cute vibe! It was quite busy when we came in but it was well worth the wait! Pulled pork and chippers with aioli was delicious!!

The menu is very versatile, the food is good, the place is nice and clean, the service is good and the staff is very friendly. Cant go wrong!

The service was extremely slow, 10+ minutes to get coffee. The food was fairly bland, and the hollandaise portion of the benedict was skimpy. Edible and looks nice but not good flavor. Would not recommend.

On two occasions now we have stopped here for our last meal in Regina and frankly we cant fault it. In fact - next time we go we will make it the first place we go. Great service, lovely food, truly acceptable prices. Keep it up guys and girls. We will be back! Were Brits by the way, so often considered to be quite critical - but cant find any reason to criticise.

Burgers were good and reasonably priced. Service wasnt that great. Never got a refill of our drinks or had the server even come to the table to ask if we wanted refills or anything else. I was charged full price for an appetizer when I was there during the special.

We were a group of 8, that met for lunch. The food and service are very good. However, the time it takes to get your food, is notably longer than other places. But we were not in a big hurray.
