Warm, contemporary spot for elevated comfort food such as burgers & pizza plus beer & wine.
I'm kinda surprised to be writing this review, but I was so impressed with the meal I had at Wild Sage that I feel compelled to say something. Borscht -- they nailed it. I know it's not a huge favourite for most people, but if you appreciate borscht for the amazing soup it can be, this is worth trying. They use smoked beets, which gives it a unique savoriness. Huge portion, too. Portobello Cobb salad w/ smoked chicken thigh -- best Cobb I've ever had. The portobello and chicken were both smoked to perfection and just exploding with flavour, balanced perfectly by the tomatoes and shallots. I wolfed it down like I was high. Towards the end it started to feel like there was maybe a little too much dressing and/or feta, but my palate may have just been exhausted. Brisket beef dip -- perfect. Again, the smoke was the difference-maker here, giving the sandwich way more character than your typical beef dip. Great au jus for dipping, and what tasted like horseradish on the bun to keep everything lively. Last Mountain Whiskey neat -- Delish. I was skeptical -- you don't often get good liquor for $7 a shot -- but the waitress assured us the price is due to it being local (Lumsden) and not because it's shitty. It was so good. No harsh booziness, just a perfectly balanced earthiness followed by a hint of spice and fume. I'll be buying a bottle of this stuff. I rarely leave such wordy reviews, but this was a dynamite meal in a surprisingly classy setting topped off with some truly excellent service. I'll be back.
Went for thanksgiving buffet. Not a huge selection, but what was there was top notch. Ate at the bar, staff was attentive, polite, efficient. Over all enjoyed the meal immensely, and had the bonus of being able to watch the game!
Service was the main redeeming factor but the Thanksgiving buffet at $38 was very disappointing. This should have been an opportunity for Wild Sage to impress new guests who normally don’t come here, but they really failed flat. There was a carving station set up for the ham but yet the Turkey came out pre-sliced on the buffet line. Why?? The presentation was awful. The perogies were undercooked and were still hard/floury on the bottom. Cabbage rolls had nearly no beef in them. The stuffing was clearly boxed and they couldn’t be bothered to even add any vegetables or other ingredients to it, it was just mush. The gravy was not even real gravy, it didn’t have any oil in it… seemed like powdered mix or a thickened chicken stock, and it was completely watered down. The cheese/meat/salad station was sad, looked like leftovers from brunch buffet and they only put out a minimal amount of everything. Cakes were clearly brought in pre-made and the fruit was sliced so thin. There was no mashed potato/rice/pasta as a main carb to have with the Turkey and gravy. Overall there was very clear cost cutting in the menu. The whole buffet looked very bare with no decoration. The servers were very kind but with no improvements to the food I would absolutely not return.
First of all, the pizza and Caesar salad were very good. The gravy was like water, and I ordered a garlic lemon pasta with cheese on it. There was absolutely no garlic, lemon or cheese, just chili flakes, and it was inferno hot, my mouth is still burning an hour later, not what I ordered at all. This was a main dish, and the portion size was very small, more like a side dish.
Went to dinner and ordered a sandwich. Menu stated that premium sides at $4 each. So when I went to get 2 premium sides with the basic fries for $8 it was going to be $14. They explain that you can upgrade to a premium side for $4 more. I don’t know why it is written where you are lead to believe that you can get a few extra premium sides for $4 each!
“You get what you pay for”. But even CAD$20 feels too much for this. On arrival there is zero information about the cost of the breakfast, and no one to greet you to tell you. “Seat yourself”. I did, and then got up again to work out how to speak to a human. The buffet, I clarified, was $20. How could I go wrong? Well… I watched a couple of omelettes come out and they were like the one I had: lacking any shape or form, the dull grey-yellow of pre-made egg mixture from a bottle. Tasteless. The sausages are unremarkable and achieve the distinction of having as little texture as they do taste. The potatoes (which somehow contain gluten) are dry and chalky as if they’re a reheat from the previous day. The four varieties of cheese all taste the same. Quite remarkable in its own way. The pastries haven’t seen a baker in their short - or maybe quite long - lives. Sawdust croissants and even the Danish is dry - and that’s hard to pull off. The only redeeming feature is that when the staff do serve you they’re delightful and keep your cup topped up with insipid coffee that would struggle to resuscitate a houseplant.
Breakfast buffet is $22 a person for a continental breakfast at best. The “hot” items aren’t hot. The pancakes tasted weird and only syrup for a topping. I spit the omelette out as soon as I bit into it because it also tasted off. It tasted like they accidentally put chemical or cleaning supplies in it or something. The dessert was only 3 choices and the danishes were old and hard. It was HOT inside. I was dripping in sweat. I don’t know how they’re allowed to stay open. Good luck
While staying at Doubletree by Hilton decided to try the happy hour at Wild Sage Kitchen and Bar. Had the Classic Canadian Pizza which was very good and a couple of drinks. Allison, our bartender was great; friendly and efficient. Happy we chose this happy hour!
Clean, great atmosphere, & nice staff. My dad got the fish which he described as meh. Borscht was greasy. After a few months my spouse and I tried ordering in. We got pierogies, chili and fries. The fries were almost overcooked but pretty good! The pierogies were delicious. The chili was disgusting. It was like a bland meat paste in your mouth. My spouse added salt and pepper to his in an attempt to finish it, since we paid over $70 for delivery with tip. I couldnt do more than two bites. If I had been in the restaurant, Id have sent it back. Ive come with friends for brunch though and its serviceable! Pancakes and eggs, a full buffet really. Only drawback is why does every Canadian hotel constantly have a young boy hockey team? So at times youre scraping the bottom of the barrel dried eggs waiting for a refresher.
Excellent breakfast buffet
Went today (April 12,2024) for dinner to try there s Friday BBQ buffet. They had Smoked Briskets, BBQ Chicken, Mashed potatoes, Smokehouse Beans, Roasted Salad as well large Salad Bar and Desserts. All items on buffet were delicious especially Brisket which was very tender and had smoke flavour in it. $32 plus tax was buffet price per person which is very reasonably when you add great service and peaceful ambiance. Highly recommended
Great place to visit when in town .
Its a nice restaurant with tasty meals, pleasant, well-kept surroundings, and attentive personnel that make you feel welcome.
Great food and service !
Service was great, and nice place to eat or have a drink. They used to have Saskatoon berry dessert pierogies, which were the absolute best, but removed from menu. Disappointed. Seems some of their signature entrees have changed as well. Hope things go back to what customers love
Very dis-appointed as we waited 1/2 hour for a server, no beverage provided and then didnt take our order. We booked for a 4 night stay and if this is how the restaurant is run we will not return. A skeleton staff is no way to run a business. Patrons next to us waited for their bill for over 40 minutes and contemplated on just walking out. Servers have to acknowledge and inform customers ahead of time if there is a wait. Hotel staff is great but, the restaurant needs better management.
Great restaurant located in the Double Tree hotel. 15 dollar pizza and pint special is more than enough food and terrific value.
I just had supper at this restaurant and the food was delicious. I had the fish and chips and my partner had the buffalo chicken wings and Parmesan fries. Both fries were amazing, the fish was crispy on the outside but perfectly cooked and moist on the inside. I love that their sauce was not the usual tartare sauce which I am not keen about. Besides the food the service was exceptional. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and a compliment. Then our waitress was attentive, prompt and such a pleasure to chat with. She was from the Philippines, super bubbly with a beautiful smile.
Very friendly and professional staff. Food exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is trendy and clean with great window views of downtown. We will definitely be returning and telling our friends and family to visit.
Horrible service two nights in a row. Food was alright. But absolute terrible service by a rude waiter.
The food was absolutely terrible. The service was friendly but clueless. Wont recommend it or go back.
One of the best restaurants in Regina
Ordered Christmas dinner for the family and they did not disappoint! Food was amazing, packaged well, priced even better and staff was so friendly when we picked it up! Nicole rocks!!! Thank you again
Zeneta was so good and patient about everything! Foods are within my expectations. Moreover, the breakfast server Marie is prefect to make my day better
Nice roomy hotel pub with a comfortable atmosphere. Limited selection of draught beer but solid craft brews on there.
Food was nicely prepared. Nothing breathtaking but they got all the fundamentals down. Quality food, good service, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Portions were a little small but in line with what youd expect at similar place. Would eat there again. Dietary restrictions: They have a few gluten free options including pizza, salad, pasta, etc.
Breakfast buffet is amazing with chefs making eggs in any style you want and many other options. Services are great. All stuff are friendly and nice.
Had a company event. Conference room facility was good. Lunch was not good at all, chicken skewers were hard cooked and the rice was tasteless.
A little pricey but the food was really excellent. Great service as well.
This place is the best. The food is fantastic, the servers are excellent and the look of the place is very nice. The breakfast was among the best i have had at a hotel. I will stay at this hotel from now on just for the food.
Great service and amazing food... We will be back again Thanks for a great dinner out
Trout was outstanding
Very friendly staff and accommodating! They even opened an hour earlier to provide a healthy breakfast for an early hockey game for our boys. Thanks for all the support.
It has an exquisite daily buffet. Finger licking, like for 15$. Is a quiet romantic, place, ideal for a treat, a date or simply to take it easy having top quality service, and food. Compliments to the Chef, and the staff waiting. Thank you for the great attention.
Delicious food, friendly staff
The wings are nice and crispy, served with 3 dipping sauces. The cocktails were delicious. Servers are very attentive and the atmosphere is relaxing.
Bar tender, Nathan was very professional, social and informative. Amid the panic inflicted on the world he made a complete stranger forget his troubles and enjoy a good night out in Regina.
The food was amazing! My steak was done to perfection, the potatoes were creamy, the peppercorn sauce had the right amount heat...veggies were fresh! Highly recommend you stop in and support this quaint restaurant masterfully lit, located in the Hilton Hotel.
Christmas dinner at the wild sage . Its busy! Reservations for 530 not at our table till 6. The first round of drinks were paid for by the resturaunt because of the mistake which was very nice . The food was very average the fresh pan of mashed potatoes were extremely dry and mostly unpalatable. I honestly had a hard time filling my plate and an even harder time eating it . I would not , ever under any circumstances come back to this place . This is the third bad review Ive made for this place most likely the last .
Stopped for a drink before going to the Escape Room in the same hotel - nice ambiance, comfortable seating, reasonable prices. We didnt order food, but some was delivered right next to us and it looked and smelled delicious. If you park in their lot, you can ask your wait staff if theyll cover your parking - depending how long youre there and how much you spend, they may contribute to your parking fees. Very nice place. Well return.
Good food. Breakfast buffet has good options. They have daily specials.
Good food, and nice variety of dishes. Lunch buffet is also very good. It is a good place for lunch or supper. Great weekly specials too.
Good meal, great craft beer!
Great menu, good food.
Great food exceptional service! Would reccomend!
Really good food and great service.
Fancy interior doesnt reflect average quality food. Slightly overpriced. Looks good for meetings or casual occasions.
Went for lunch and had a steak sandwich with a caeser salad. Both were awesome. The caeser dressing was phenomenal, the steak was on a piece of toast with a wonderful cream mushroom sauce below it. Totally blown away. So good. My friends said their avacado club was amazing too. Going back for sure.
Delicious food and lots of choices for vegan cuisine
Great Staff.
Super Disappointed Mothers Day Brunch. Seated at a nice table then moved to a corner of the lounge and left without beverages or service while some staff took pics with each other, our server set the table next to us without acknowledging us and other later arriving tables were being served. After asking for service found food not the usual standard including over ripe fruit, dried out items prepared too far ahead, mislabeled items, cards for items not present (one I stood waiting 10 mins for the person to come back and tell me they dont have it) and saw who appeared to be the chef and sous chef have a disagreement in front of customers. The dessert display was the highlight, quite beautiful with fancy caramel and chocolate accents and a build your own cupcake station for the kids. All desserts were not labeled, though the quality was there we saw alot of waste as diners tried things and didnt care for them so didnt eat them. Not everyone likes coffee flavoured cakes. When I expressed my feelings to a lady who appeared to be the manager she smiled and gave me a well rehearsed line or two no attempt to make it right or even a genuine apology. The whole experience left us feeling really unimportant and not cared for. Not a $39 per person experience at all, other customers that we spoke to seated around us felt the same. It really seemed they were in over their heads and couldnt handle the volume of business. Truly disappointed in what used to be our favourite buffet. Not sure we will be back.
Amazing sunday brunch i walked away stuffed
Awesome service and food was exceptional. Bartender was very informative and funny
Excellent food and good service. Wine selection could be better
Has lots of food items to choose from for Sunday brunch. Very good service as well. I We go for the brunch every time we stay at The Doubletree By Hilton.
The brunch has a nice variety of food choices and is kept hot and readily available; at least it was when we visited.
Really tasty. Friendly service.
Good reasonably priced meal.
Great place to go for a good meal. Was impressed!
Fabulous breakfast buffet.a lovely dining room.and great service..my waitress was so friendly and made my first visit a dining experience to remember thx Kevin
Food here was AMAZING. Get the perogies!!
Great food and atmosphere.
Excellent service, new menu phenomenal, staff friendly and outgoing ! 1/2 price wine was a score!
Wonderful experience. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Amazing food. We had the beet hummus and rock shrimp fritters to start - both things I wouldn t normally choose but I was practically licking my plate after! I had the avocado club and Parmesan fries for my entree and it was delicious - a bit of spice but not too much, awesome dip for the fries. And of course dessert! The ice cream! Purple yam and salted egg ice creams - Can t even describe, but definitely worth checking this place out!
Great breakfast buffet.
Really good
Excellent brunch! Good food and great, friendly service. Very kid-friendly.
The staff is so very lovely and friendly but the food disappoints. The brunch buffet is lukewarm, pretty bland and the basic options could easily be made for cheaper and better at home. Regina deserves better, very surprised at the amount of four star ratings. Maybe the a la carte menu is better?
Good food, friendly staff
Really good brunch, excellent service.
I just went in for drinks, beer was delicious, service was great.
Really great food!
Great atmosphere!
Went for pizza and a pint for $10, it was good, great deal! The server however left a lot to be desired.
Service was excellent, and the waiter was fast and very knowledgeable! Food however, was average, I will try again with a different dish next time.
We had a luncheon party for a very large group this past weekend, celebrating my Moms 80th birthday. The food was excellent and the staff were very organized, accommodating, and friendly-- it was service with a smile. The entire staff, including the chef and kitchen crew, even presented a her with a fancy cake complete with candles, and sang Happy Birthday. A lovely event at a great venue, thank you.
It seems like they only paid too much attention to the plating. Please pay more attention to the taste as well. Its noisy and the bathroom is too far away. Reception was good
Great food. Love the bacon relish! Friendly staff. Good atmosphere.
Tried the fancy Easter buffet. It was quite nice and the staff were helpful.
Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The bacon, fresh bread and fruit and omelet gets are wonderful. This is one of the few places in Regina that I can categorically say that the experience is worth the money! If I could, I would rank them 9/10.
Sunday at brunch time the pace is so understaffed.
