Trust me guys! Real authentic SICHUAN Chinese food! If you love numbing and spicy food, Come and have a try!
Checked this place our with a friend after seeing the article from CBC. If you're new to Szechuan food, I recommend the mapo tofu and dan dan noodles. The owner does it all - taking orders, serving and cooking. He is very kind and clearly has a passion for food! Great place and delicious dishes - I wish it was better known in Regina.
I came here with my friends for the first time. As a Chinese, I would say the food here is authentic! The price is reasonable and the portion is so big!!! The owner is not talkative but very sincere. He keeps his high standard of food quality. If you like Szechuan food or just wanna try it( maybe start with mild spicy haha ) , I highly recommend this restaurant. P.S. the owner runs the restaurant alone. It took us some time to wait, but it totally worth! So if you are short of time, maybe ask the owner for some quick dishes first.
I had an infuriating experience at this restaurant last night, and I feel compelled to warn others. I came with friends, expecting a decent meal. However, we were never informed about how long we would have to wait. Despite there being only one other group of customers, we ended up waiting for over an hour. The service was incredibly slow, but the worst part was yet to come. When I finally spoke to the owner, I was shocked by his sheer arrogance and condescension. I simply asked how much longer we would need to wait, but when I later requested more rice, he completely ignored my request and instead told me to get back to the table because he “would lecture me on how things work here in Canada.” These were his actual words. He proceeded to "educate" me on how I should "learn from my friend who’s been in Canada for many years" and that "spending money doesn’t make you a big shot here." To make matters worse, he went on to say that “people who recently moved to Canada are too arrogant and that mutual respect is required.” Excuse me? Who is the one not respecting others here? This is the first time I’ve ever been insulted like this, simply for asking about the waiting time. It's clear that the owner feels entitled to discredit customers, as he seems to think being an experienced immigrant gives him the right to belittle others, especially those he assumes are newcomers (which I am not). I have never encountered such unprofessional behavior and humiliation in my life. It’s outrageous that in a place where I’m spending my money, I would be subjected to this kind of treatment. If you’re looking for a place to eat, avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you want to be disrespected and lectured on how to behave. Save your time and dignity, and choose a restaurant where the staff actually knows how to treat customers with basic respect.
Food was fantastic. There was one guy there cooking and serving food. It was a slow business day I think. I was the 2nd customer there. Service was good. Speed of food coming out was good. Initially you may be turned off from staying since it is quiet there and the guys was initially slow to acknowledge me, but the food is fantastic. The guy working there seems shy and nice. Parking available in the back. Place appears to be clean. It is quiet. Portion size is good. The food speaks for itself.
This restaurant suddenly popped up on my phone today. I thought isn’t that C and Q? They changed name and the owner? I always loved C and Q they were the only authentic chinese restaurant in Regina that I know. Now this new Szechuan restaurant looks also amazing on the reviews and the photos looked exactly like what I once had in China. We ordered Dan Dan noodles and 鱼香肉丝 it was so good the first bite of the noodles brought back so many memories! The flavour was spot on! The boss who is also the cook and the server did a great job even though it was supper time and there were other guests to serve we didn’t have to wait for too long. Not to mention the food was so hot just out of the wok and things are all cooked right there! A little wait is worth it! I loved everything and will definitely come back with more people so we can try more dishes. The portions are big! They open 7 days a week! I really hope this restaurant is doing well because these days finding an authentic chinese restaurant in Regina is nearly Impossible. And nothing is compromised here. Great job!
Szechuan's authentic Chinese restaurant with a simple and homey design; additionally, the food here is for those who enjoy or can handle spicy food. This restaurant cooks dishes to your liking (if you ask), the owner speaks Chinese, so I think you should go with someone who speaks Chinese, but the owner is very friendly and helpful to customers. However, there is only the owner here who both greets guests and cooks, so the food will take a little longer to arrive. Mapo Tofu, Preserved Egg with Chili and Pepper, Tomato Egg Soup, and Twice-cooked pork slices are among our favourites. However, for those of you who are going to eat for the first time, I believe it will be difficult to find a parking space and become acquainted with the location without having to walk around for the first time, as I did. I'll show you how to get there down below.
Absolutely amazing and authentic Szechuan cuisine! Each dish was just bursting with flavour, portions were large, and prices were fair. The pictures may look dangerous, but the spice level is mild, maybe medium (hard to say, I'm pretty acclimatized to spiciness). We really admired the man working here. He must be the owner, and single handedly did everything: service, cooking, and cleaning. It was such a shame we were the only diners in, because this food deserves to be discovered and shared! On the other hand, I'm not sure how he could keep up if there was more demand. I sincerely hope they get more business. To entice adventurous foodies, they should consider an English name on Google. They also served hot water with the meal, which is pretty traditional, but I think most would expect Chinese tea, or simply ice water. The above points are very minor things. The food here is well worth the wait, and if we're ever in from Edmonton again, we will for sure be back!
Personally I like spicy food .It was really good! It s so delicious. It s so delicious! It s so delicious! Big thumbs up! Everyone go and eat!
Nice restaurant. Large portions. Parking is at the rear of the building, enter through the unmarked red door.
Only good at the food
Fantastic food with huge portions
Food was super flavorful and delicious. The spicy beef was our favorite dish followed by the dry pot cauliflour. None of us were a fan of the dan dan noodles but I think that was more a preference thing. Food took an hour to come after ordering but was worth the wait.
Ordered seaweed and egg drop soup, spicy chicken, and mapo tofu All are delicious Overall taste is salty But it s really great to be able to eat Sichuan food of this level in Regina~
I went there this morning. The service is so good and food is delicious. People are really kind here. I ll be back.
WOW. This is definition of a hidden gem. The Dan Dan Noodles and Mapo Tofu was amazing. Come support this place, food of this quality is rare here.
An absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. Rave to this restaurant for such amazing food $21.95. Affordable, amazing taste and a good amount of food. Has a bit of a kick to it and lots of flavor. If one doesnt like rice they have noodles. Will be going back and I will be ordering a new dish of food every time I go.
I believe this restaurant is overrated. My whole family loves Chinese food. In my experience, restaurants run by younger people tend to be better. Unfortunately, some restaurants run by older individuals may have hygiene issues, like this one we visited. For instance, the chopsticks appeared to have been used for many years. Additionally, the owner/chef served our food with one hand, which meant his thumb came into contact with the inside of our bowls.
Very hard working and kind owner.
It is a 1 man operation and the food is amazing. He is incredibly skilled at making these authentic dishes from his homeland. Be prepared for a variety of food made from scratch. It is a bit spicy, so if you are sensitive to spice, be forewarned. He also cooks with real ingredients, so your items may contain things like bones, and even organ meats. I highly recommend it, but dont go if youre wanting a quick meal. It is best experienced as an in house sit down meal where youre not rushed
It was delicious, so tasty! and the portions are huge! Good prices too, I definitely recommend it got the braised beef and dan dan noddles, both delicious
Very good flavour.
We came from Saskatoon just to have a bite here. Super underrated restaurant in SK. Highly recommended
Best Authentic Chinese food in the city, hands down.
The twice-cooked pork is super delicious. I love it.
Authentic food and huge portions!!
All fake five star reviews obviously. The food is terrible, it s the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever tried in Regina. I ordered ten dishes and none of them were delicious.
All dishes are too salty. In terms of flavor, some are ok, some are awful. Definitely not the best in Regina.
Tasted terrible!!! I don t understand why this restaurant rated so high. I m so disappointed. Definitely one of the worst chinese restaurants I have ever eaten in Regina! Don t waste your money!
First, I give my conclusion that the restaurant is really terrible. It is not only about the dishes, but also the owner of the restaurant. We ordered ten dishes, the taste of eight ones are really terrible cause they are really salty. Our friends gave the real reviews, however, the owner did not accept or think these suggestions, he gave some impolite response. This is the worst thing, I do not think such a restaurant can make some delicious dishes!!! In addition, there seem to be some fake high rating reviews.
I won t let you know if I m dead, who is it?
Really good! Love the noodles
I love their braised chicken with rice.
Had the most incredible lunch. Amazing dishes! Cant wait to go back and try more.
By far the best and most authentic Sichuan restaurant I have been to in Canada. Very reasonable cost/quantity ratio. Only thing I d improve is the waiting time when there are several clients in the restaurant. Nevertheless it s always been worth the waiting :)
The most authentic Chinese restaurant in Regina. Not for the faint of heart who is afraid of spices. Very flavourful food here (also very spicy which I sincerely ADORE). Very generous portion for the price. It is my absolute favorite place for take outs. The building and the place, however, is old and looks/ feels tired. This is for this reason I have not dined here and merely ordered the food togo. I hope the restaurant succeeds so they can move to a better location/ place where they deserve it. This restaurant needs more recognition from local foodies and tourists alike. Its a hole in a wall but an absolute gem!
This place should be packed all the time. The food is so damn good! You gotta try the pork and black fungus dish, it is fantastic. I am 100% going back there.
It tastes good but not spicy enough. If you have a big appetite, you should order at least three dishes. If you like spicy and u can come here.
The boss is very nice. The food is authentic, the portions are large, and it s not too expensive
The front door is on the main road, and cars must park at the back door. The bosss craftsmanship is good and the taste is quite authentic. Very impressed with the couples lung slices.
This place serves food with amazing flavor. Was missing something like this in regina
The portions of each dish are generous and the taste is authentic. It is very authentic Sichuan cuisine.
There is just no takeout, it would be nice to have takeout
The food tastes pretty good, but the key is that the portion is large. Three people ordered two bowls of noodles and one dish and were still full. I particularly admired the shopkeeper who managed the front and back kitchen all by himself, and the food was served very quickly.
Best chinese restaurant in regina. The portion are very good and owner was very nice.
I love this place! After being to Chengdu a couple times, this is as about as authentic Szechuan food you are going to get anywhere around here. The smells hit you right in the feels and flavours are amazing. The Dan Dan noodles are fantastic. Spicy beef, minced pork, it doesnt matter, it is all fantastic. You have to love spiciness and garlic. It is Szechuan food, so that should be a no brainer tho. Great sized portions! Keep in mind that it is just the owner/cook there, so if anyone else is there, you could be waiting. Just relax and take it all in. Will go back again and again. 10/10!
Yeah this is really good. Huge portions, reasonably priced, authentic taste. It was great. Had the mapo tofu, Dan Dan noodles and braised beef and it was all delicious.
Great spicy fish make owner was super nice
The taste of Chengdu home-style stir-fry.
Sooooo Yummy foods!
Authentic Sichuan flavor, not modified, very appetizing
Best authentic Sichuan food I have ever tasted in Regina! Red chilli peppers used in the dishes were even shipped from Sichuan province and they are even the best in Sichuan, these peppers are known for the unique flavor yet not overwhelmingly spicy even if you ate them directly. The owner is willing to use all the quality stuff which makes the flavor authentic and makes this restaurant stand out in a crowd of restaurants. I would love to go there every week!
The best restaurant on our trip from Toronto to Vancouver! Authentic taste
Sooo authentic and delicious!!! I was a little concerned when walking in seeing we were the only customers. Now I m baffled why people don t know this place. The mapo tofu, cauliflower, yuxiang pork wish I had a bigger stomach. Park your car in the parking lot on the side, walk down a few stairs and you will see the entrance.
The quality, authenticity, and price of this restaurant is unreal. Im quite surprised that a restaurant of this quality is in Regina. I would highly recommend it!
Perfect flavour profiles. Slow build type of heat. My favourite Chinese restaurant in Regina. Thank you chef!
Delicious! You must try it when you pass by Regina! If you don t eat it, you will suffer a big loss! A treasure shop discovered during the trip!
No doubt the best Szechuan food I ever had here. Authentic, big portion and definitely real HOT food.
So delicious and authentic! Highly recommend it!
Extremely pleasantly surprised. Wasn t too impressed when I walked in but my husband wanted to stay. I was floored on how good the food is. Absolutely authentic and flavourful. Great size portions and had enough to take home! Try this place it is amazing. And very reasonably priced.
Authentic Chengdu cuisine with flavours that exhilarate the taste buds. A perfect place to eat for the spice lover. Parking in the back and there is no sign on entrance. I have tried the Mapo Tofu, Pork and Peppers, Seafood Dry Pot, Beef Noodle Dish, and Yung Shei Pork. Generous portions
Very authentic and tasty option for Sichuan food. The portions are very generous and the menu offers a wide selection of dishes. Highly recommend the mapo tofu and twice cooked pork dishes!
In a world of Combo As this place stands out above the rest offering high quality, tasty, authentic Chinese cuisine. After travelling to Chengdu China and eating local Sichuan cuisine, I have been looking for food of the same quality and taste in Regina and this place achieves it. It will seem daunting looking at the menu and talking to the proprietor, but stay, order I suspect literally anything and you will love it. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, Szechuan chicken, and chicken nuggets in chili oil(its not what you might suspect) and they were all equally amazing. Try something new, try something tasty, try this place.
Amazing Chinese food!!! And super nice service!! Highly recommended!! The two of us ordered fish-flavored shredded pork and boiled beef, and also ordered a bowl of noodles, which was huge! There s no way two people can finish the meal hahaha, so we took it away~ It s super delicious! Highly recommended
Im from Chengdu and this is the most athletic Sichuan food Ive ever tried in Canada ( I have lived in Vancouver also tried Sichuan food when I was travelling in Calgary), I was kinda surprised when I first tried it, I asked the owner, he is from Chengdu and he imported all ingredients from Sichuan, I can tell he didnt lie about it. If youd like to have Sichuan food just like you are eating in Chengdu, here is the best place to go in Regina no doubt!
Fantastic food & owner. Highly recommend the mapo tofu
At first I thought the menu was bit pricey but their taste and volume shut me up. Highly recommend!
Great value. Huge portions
Ive had two meals here since I went out to play. The portions are large and delicious, and the boss is also very nice. It is recommended to order in advance and eat when you arrive.
