This used to be a go to place for me but the last couple of times I have ordered the food didnt have a lot of flavour, was not fresh and some seemed like something I could go buy at the grocery store and cook myself.

Used to be a 5 star for me however the portions are way smaller and food isnt as good. The vegetables we got were not cooked they were hot but hard. The pineapple pork is way to sweet with a strange taste. The wonton soup was delicious! Overpriced for quality and quantity

Food seems to be way better when dining in. However very tasty regardless. Pad Thai is pretty good here. Lunch specials have pretty good portions. Not sure if anything changed since as it is referred to as Angkor north now.

I typically order from Angkor east as I didnt realize Thai Basil was in fact Angkor North . I ordered from here a couple of days ago and the food was amazing just like Angkor east . The quantity of food was fantastic, reasonably priced and the quality great was hot and fresh . I will definitely be ordering from here again and again . THANKS

Used to be amazing not sure what happened. Ordered online for pick up, my husband went to get it waited 40 min after the pick up time for them to come out and say they can t find the order. Ridiculous

My friend & I went for a late lunch so it was just us so we were able to sit & visit for quite a while.

War wonton had no shrimp and my pad Thai had two tiny pieces of chicken. Terrible rip off

Since moving to Regina a year ago I have been searching for a restaurant with really good South-East Asian/Chinese food. I have found it at Basil Thai/Angkor North. The food is amazingly good, the portions substantial and the service excellent. I have just become a frequent and loyal customer.

Fried rice and vegetables are so salty, and the sweet and sour meat was so very sweet. Please be cautious with your recipe; it s not good food to be salty and so oversweet. Talk to your chef; I m not happy with your food.

Was visiting from saskatoon today. Ordered the meal for 1 C . Oh my goodness it was soooooo good, the spring roll was crisp and airy, ginger beef was the best Ive had in a very long time. The portion size was large enough to take leftovers home. Price was reasonable. Your staff was super friendly. Im just sad I cant visit often but look forward to the next time Im in town. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

A large serving of delicious food no matter what your choice is from the menu. Excellent service whether you eat in or pick up. You must try it. It s the best!!

Had the vegetarian spring rolls which tasted rotten and had to send back . Then when I returned it they said they dont even make them in house . Not sure what went wrong but I had a friend try and he also verified worst Spring rolls he ever tasted . Made me actually sick to my stomach .

I have been always ordering the jumbo prawn dish for years. My husband and I love your food. I see you are now open again for lunch. Please bring back your jumbo pawn dish it was one of my favourites. I have gone to Angkor since the east open it s doors . Best Chinese food in the city.

New menu, new ownership? Some items have changed and find they are not as much to our liking as the former. Thai veg spring roll definitely not as good as former. Missed the chicken balls in our group dinner. Pineapple sweet & sour pork had no pineapple. Ginger beef was dry and a bit tough. Really miss the old recipes.

Ever since the new owners bought it the portion sizes the quality of the food and most of all the lack of not having a chicken wing as a Chinese restaurant its a disaster they are greedy and they will fail

Good food in the past, however when we ordered lastnight (October 31st 2021) I received a staple in my sweet and sour pork. This is truly unacceptable, your kitchen staff need to be more cautious about what theyre handling around food. How does a staple end up in the pork? Im glad I saw it before I ate it. Theyre only open for limited hours in the evening so I cant even call to advise them. Please be careful if youre ordering from here . Update, under new management hasnt changed the staple issue. How does this happen twice? April 13th 2022.

Didn t know there was new owners. What a disappointment from previous owners. We had a jem here that s lost. They are very stingy with the food now. Had mild pad Thai and there was no spice at all in it. Also had combination dinner D. Thai spring roll was horrible no chicken in the vegetable chicken and the sweet and sour pork had an off taste to it. The other owners made the best. Hate pineapple and red and green peppers in my sweet and sour pork which has it now. I think I ll be looking for another place. Or find where the previous owners went. So sad.

Had take out when new menu / new owners and found it not very good, had it again yesterday hoping it would be better and sadly not, lack of flavor and quality. Disappointed I will have to find a new favorite place, wont order again

What happened to this place? It went from one of the best restaurants in Regina to mediocre since it came under new management. Such a shame.

Disclaimer Edit: the old review is for the old Thai Basil. The new Angkor North (which is now the name of this resto), we have only tried at the end of the pandemic restrictions and we re not really impressed. 3/5 stars we think. The portions are more generous than the old Thai Basil but the quality of taste is not up to par. It s still good though for generic Asian cuisine tbh. Old Thai Basil: This is our go-to place for Thai cuisine in Regina. We ve been to many other Thai resto in the city and find the authenticity of Thai Basil very refreshing. They use good cuts of meat and we find that the food is always less oily and the vegetables fresher compared to others. The beef hot pot surprisingly has enough fat for flavour but it s been trimmed and the bean cake hot pot is generous with the tofu and the seafood. All other menu items is also very well recommended!

This is a great little restaurant with fantastic thai food. They have many selections on their menu. The hot sour soup is fabulous. Service is excellent. Dietary restrictions: They have a good selection of gluten free items to choose from.

Fresh rolls were stuck together so when you pulled them apart they ripped. No peanut sauce included.

Used to love their food (it was our goto location). Since the change in ownership, the food is definitely less flavorful, the portions are about 15% smaller, and items like chicken balls now have a lot more batter and less filling. Its ok, but theres a ton of really good nearby competition.

My husband and I visited this location last night. We ordered a two person combo dinner and low mein noodles. The rest of the food was okay but the noodles were very bad. When one of the servers came over to refill our water asked about how everything was- I mentioned that there was too much soy sauce in the noodles. Her response- next time order light sauce because we make it according to Canadian peoples taste. My hubby and I were shocked at her racist response. She automatically assumed that we werent Canadians because we looked different. I still explained that I have had these noodles at other places for years and I know enough to realize when its not good. She never apologized and just doubled down that we should have asked for light sauce. Her behavior was so disappointing and disrespectful. We are never returning to this restaurant ever again. I wish the management takes note of their employees behavior and comments. Otherwise it could get them in legal trouble one day.

Food are tasty and quite special. Wide collection of different SEA dishes. Just not really the authentic taste if you from Asia looking for a taste of home. Food

Slight Menu changes from old Thai Basil, but entire party was very impressed and satisfied with the quality, taste and size of their selection , very prompt and good service too.

Ordered pickup from this excellent restaurant. First time from this restaurant. Loved that the vegetables were not soft and soggy at all, cut in larger pieces and the entire kung bao chicken dish was delicious. Excellent almond prawns too. Some items come in 2 choices of size which is a great idea. Outstanding! Thank you to the chef.

Rude and Terrible customer service. Order took 1.5 hours. Was not hot and fresh... chunks of slime in the veggies and I almost threw up. ..and fish tasting broccoli. Old broccoli. Some Old tasting pieces of chicken in the sweet and sour chicken. . Ugh. Gross. Dont recommend.

We try to order from here every couple of weeks. Portions are large so it does a couple meals for us. Prices are decent and staff always polite. Wait time is very short. I always order the pad Thai, I ve had nothing else because I find the pad Thai SO good I m afraid I ll be disappointed with anything else I order. One small complaint I ll say and I ll bring it up to them next time I order is that the consistency of the take out isn t there. Sometimes when I order there s peanuts crumbled on top with a slice of lime. Other times there isn t any of that. I also ask for extra spicy and that s never consistent, some times it comes very spicy other times it s not spicy at all. That however will not stop me from ordering from there. Top notch job

Not bad but not great! The chicken tasted like it was cooked days earlier and barely warmed up!! I probably wont go back because I paid $24.00 for 2 noodle bowls and really poor quality food!! Not hot at all and i waited for 10 minutes! My advice to restaurants would be if you want to make it thru the pandemic you better pull up your boots and cook fresh food!! Im really tired of poor quality food!!

Ordered the pad thai and coconut tom yum soup for takeaway. Did not come with cutlery. The soup was super bland, a really watery consistency and hardly any vegetables in it. The pad thai was ok, but extremely dry. Would not recommend for the price.

If you like Angkor South East Asian on Quance St then youll like Thai Basil, its the exact same menu and food. Even the coffee tastes the same.

Service was good. Food did not meet my standards. Noodle soup was very bland and tasteless. The papaya salad is not authentic, lacking in flavour and is a far cry from what I ve had growing up.

My boyfriend and I ordered two types of soup, the tom yum and the beef noodle. His was decent, but a little bland. We fixed it by adding some of my tom yum broth, which was flavourful. However, the rest of my soup was odd. It was literally just chopped chicken (which I requested over their suggested shrimp) and mushrooms with broth. There were no vegetables or noodles whatsoever. It does only say there are two items in the description, but I thought the other items (vegetables and noodles) were a given. Id definitely give Thai Basil another chance, but I will not be ordering the soup.

Thai Basil is very exquisite restaurant with a large variety of meals for any occasion. Each serving is proportionately plentiful. The flavours swirl in my mouth in a combination of sweet and sour tastes. The service is amazing, the servers are accommodating. Would definitely reccomend every individual to come here and enjoy the food.

Thai Basil is by far the best Asian food in the city! My boyfriend and I go here so much that the owners know our usual order...dont even need any menus! Ordered phat Thai, good sauce, great size, good ingredients, just missing tofu and it was a bit spicy (it should never come spicy) 106th location I have eaten phat Thai at.

We have dinner at this restaurant nearly once per week and find the food tasty, the menu varied, the service excellent, the venue acceptable. We receive good value for our patronage and recommend this family restaurant.
