The Diplomat was an absolutely amazing experience. We had a Christmas party here and the service was exceptional. Ashley was an A+ server and provided exceptional service. She was attentive and funny and made the dining experience one to remember!! We will be coming back :)

Awesome place

A wonderful establishment for both formal and family dinners. The service is impeccable, and the food is absolutely delicious.

So starting with the food. It is unbelievable that a place that calls itself a steak house cooked our medium rare steaks to at least medium and, in my case, medium well. The Neptune only had the barest hint of crab and was over sauced. The table side salad was overpoweringly garlicky. The service was, frankly, awful. There was no sense of pace, the table side salad was interrupted for 20 minutes while our server worked other tables, and when the server bothered to come by, it was with a fawning comment or two that set our teeth on edge. The whole atmosphere is one of age and decay. The place badly needs updating. What a joke response! Ill tell you what: if you offer to refund my entire bill and apologize for questioning my review (100% factual), Ill give you more information. Otherwise, Ill let the other people judge who is telling the truth.

Its like the 1970s never ended, felt like I was in fast times at Ridgemont high! Vegetarian options: Mushrooms were amazing

I had the pleasure of dining here last month, and it was an outstanding experience. The atmosphere is fantastic, with beautiful interiors that create a welcoming vibe. To top it off, I even ran into a famous WWE wrestler during my visit! The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure everything was perfect. I ve had many Caesar salads, but none have compared to what I had here. The quality of the food is consistently amazing and delicious. I ordered takeout via SKIP this evening and was thrilled to find that the food was just as exceptional as my previous visit. If you re a Caesar salad fan like me, this place is a must-try! Highly recommend!

Dined here multiple times at different occasions. The food always tastes great, Caesar salad is on point and steaks are cooked perfectly every time, chicken dishes are cooked perfect as well, never dry. I would think twice about coming here on a sunday night though, as it felt as if B team was on, waitresses were not as friendly and food while still delicious not as good as it is on a Friday/Saturday night.

Best Experience

Havent been there in a while and it was nice to get out to a nice quiet professional place. My wife had the turkey supper they were offering for Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. I had the tenderloin risotto and the tenderloin was cooked to perfection but Ive had better risotto before. (It was a little runny). The service was amazing. Very professional and friendly. I would definitely go back for a special occasion.

Decided to go on my last night to Diplomat. Hummed and Hawwed as I was tired from my trip. Owner greeted me at the front and quickly accommodated a drop in (without reso). No questions asked. They didnt disappoint. Ive been to many, many steakhouses. Ramsay STK, Demonicos, CUT, Michael Jordans Steak house, Mannys Steakhouse it goes on...this is up there in Top 10. The prices were ridiculous. I had 2 scallop appiea wrapped in bacon with a chili oil...limited time item. Had the onion soup to start. The depth of flabour was fantastic. I grabbed the 19 ounce Rib eye Chicago style with peppercorn. Chicago style off menu but requested and granted. Steak was PERFECTLY cooked. Stuffed potato didnt disappoint. To wrap it all up I never order dessert, but a table side flambe I had to have. A bit dissapointed crepe suzette was only done in orders of 2, so I ordered the House special. Strawberries, grand marnier, golden pear liquor and some orange and cinnamon spices. This all topped on 2 ice cream filled crepes. All of this for about $125. Incredible. I was there for about 2 hours, the service and ambience is like a traditional steak house with decor but modern in service with the cooperative staff and team work. Excellent steakhouse and I will be back. Highly recommend.

Being in business for 45 years as Reginas #1 steak house speaks for itself. The ultimate dining experience. Food is absolutely superb! Very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Professional and courteous staff. An absolute 5+ star establishment.

Really enjoyed our family meal at The Diplomat, we were served by Amy. She was very good with my nut allergy, made sure all the food I had was safe and was very friendly. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, very romantic and could easily see it as a first date / anniversary setting. The cost wasnt overly expensive, and the food was delicious. I had the Crostini and then the Osso Bucco, both were great. Dietary restrictions: Really friendly with nut and sesamme allergies, Amy was great in making sure I felt safe.

Nice old school steakhouse with great service. New menu is awesome and the wine selection is the best. Tableside anything is worth it!

Best dinner in town.

Besides the amazing service and sticky toffee pudding, I wouldnt go back. If the owner watched his camera, hed see I did not in fact enjoy my steak. I didnt finish it. I didnt enjoy the room, but each to their own on their decor style. I definitely wont be returning Inow that know Im being watched like a hawk. 10/10 creeps

We were really looking forward to our dinner here based on the reviews but left very disappointed. When dining at an upscale restaurant I expect the service to match the prices. Our server did the bare minimum only taking our order and bringing our food. Thats it. She didnt even ask us how our meal was at any point. She did find time to be on our phone though which one of us saw on the way to restroom. Our meal was average other than the ceasar salad and we had sat with our empty plates in front of us for 5-10 minutes at which point we asked the bus boy to track down our server for bill. She dropped it off without asking us how our meal was or how wed like to pay to after a significant wait we took our bill to the front and still we were not asked how we enjoyed our meal. It was our sons 21st birthday and we wanted to treat him to a memorable dinner. Needless to say it wasnt. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and if I could give zero stars for service I would

Call me old fashioned but there is nothing I like more than a true high end steak house! The Diplomat checks all the boxes! The service was there when you needed it, the steaks were done exactly as ordered and the ambience perfectly set the tone. Three generations all having a great time! Cant do much better than that! We had a wonderful experience at the Diplomat. The ambience alone was worth the visit....The decor reminded me of the old style restaurans i grew up around. Italian themed and wonderfully decorated. The wait staff are old school, friendly and very attentive. The food was beyond our expectations, it was fresh, delicious and beautifully plated. I moved North from the Napa Valley area and I can honestly say the Diplomat is by far the best steak house we have dined in, anywhere! We will be back often. If youre in the area, its a MUST

A go to for the best of everything

My husband and I were there last week for supper without a reservation and the gentleman at the front was able to find us a both to sit in, thanks for that. The service was for the most part wonderful. The quality of our meal, I can t say the same. Unfortunately our meal was not great. My chicken was overcooked and very dry. The potatoes were also dry. When I mentioned it to the waiter he said it s normally tender because of the feta. He didn t offer to have it remade, he however offered to box my meal up so I could take it home to eat it later. I didn t want to make a fuss and we only had 15 minutes left at our table as someone else was coming in at 7. It s just very disappointing that we paid over $150 for a meal that wasn t great and I couldn t even eat. I sent a message to the restaurant and they couldnt even be bothered to message me back.

This is a great steakhouse in the heart of downtown. We had the Saganaki to start, which was very flavorful and a great way to start our meal. We both had the 8oz filet that was perfectly cooked at medium rare. I chose the blue cheese topping, which was a butter and blue cheese mixture that you can pour on your filet All dishes come with a starter salad, a side of veggies and starch.

Great service, great food quality, great atmosphere. Portions are a little small for the price you pay thats why four stars. Carry so many halal choices so thats a bonus. Will definitely visit again.

Outta my price range

The Dip is our family favourite restaurant in YQR. The staff, atmosphere, quality food and wine list is fantastic. We book the private room for family birthdays and staff always make it a most memorable time for everyone. Thank you especially to Alyssa for your amazing service last night. Barbara Parking: Great behind building parking and on street parking. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu has all the favourites and special drinks for them as well.

The Diplomat is an amazing dining/fine dining restaurant. The restaurant is clean with appealing decor. There are photos of famous people who visited the restaurant on the wall as one enters the premises. Staff, and the owners, are very attentive to the needs and requests of the customers. The food and service is exceptional. Parking: Parking is on the street in front of the restaurant, with a small area for the disabled parking beside the building.

I ve heard this place was good so we went and tried it. I got the ribs to start and they tasted like nothing like literally worse than frozen finger food was so disappointed and then my medium rare steak came out completely raw even the waiter knew instantly to take it back you couldn t even cut it. Way to overpraised and overpriced DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Best fine dining experience in the city of Regina hand down. For staff service, I d give an easy 5 stars. The waiter was courteous and checked in to ensure our meal was going great and we had all we needed throughout our stay. For the food; it was tasty, well seasoned, satisfying and there was so much variety to choose from. It took a reasonable amount of time to prepare compared to some other fine dining outfits in the city that take more time. The plating technique here is very impressive too. Only downside is parking. The parking lot for this restaurant is quite small and not easily accessible.

We were driving through Regina. On our way home to Manitoba and We chose the diplomat because of the ratings on Google and from reading the Google reviews. It did not disappoint ! We had a great supper with absolutely wonderful staff and personalize service. We even got a private tour and great conversation as they flambéed our dessert at our table side ! Although our last two experiences at the Diplomat had not been positive, we decided to give them another chance when friends from out of town arrived. The waitress was wonderful (unfortunately I didn t get her name), and the drinks were made to perfection. Our friends had the Chateaubriand for Two, and said it was delicious. I enjoyed the Diplomat Chicken, although the stuffed potato was burnt. We were extremely disappointed in the 10 ounce steak my husband ordered - it was cooked to his preference, but the steak had so much gristle in it, he found it was inedible. Our waitress offered to take it back, but this would delay his meal and we would be done by the time he got his meal back. For this reason, he declined a replacement. I suggested there should be a reduction on the bill, as the steak was priced at $46.95. I was vastly disappointed to see the restaurant took a mere $10 off. Ultimately, we paid $36.95 for a piece of inedible meat. This is the third strike - we will not be back.

Best Steakhouse ever! I was randomly walking around. And I happened to walk by this building. And I was wondering what it looked like in the inside. Turns out it was open! So I walked in, and it turns out to be a fancy place! Which is awesome. So someone escorted me to a seat. And when they asked me what I wanted to drink, I ve asked for a double Cherry vodka. Which is awesome, because usually Cherry Vodka is not available at bars and stuff. So that was nice. I normally don t order seafood, but I ve asked to get a fresh grilled Salmon. And the waitress recommended the better version, which was something I wasn t expecting. So I got it, and wow did it ever tastes great. In fact, I wanted more lol. So I ll make sure to get that again, if I have the luxury to go there again :) As for the staff, all of them were really nice to me, Especially Alyssa. So keep up the good work guys!

To expensive, but food is ok

The banquet/meeting room we had little airflow going through. I have a condition where my muscles spasm if I overheat and sadly the night was cut short due to that happening. It s a shame, it s a lovey establishment with wonderful service. The heat was unbearable and it wasn t even a hot day.

My favorite restaurant.

The waitress was excellent but for a birthday there was not a free dessert or any courtesy. I had lunch in the Keg and they gave me an incredible dessert. Sorry, but for special occasions a restaurant of this caliber should do something small but special

Classic steakhouse with decades of experience. We brought a large party of 17 and the service was fabulous, the wine list and cocktails excellent, and the food delicious. Flaming saganaki cheese appetizers, Caesar salad prepared at your table, wine decanted and served generously, and everyones meal was perfectly prepared and tastefully presented. Great evening, great experience.

This place kind of reminds me of one of the establishments you would find on a restaurant makeover show. While the food was good, the wine list was fantastic. The decor was aged. If you find yourself in Regina looking for a decent steak, give it a shot.

Great steak house to try when in town

From the moment we arrived until the time we departed, We were surounded by smiles, great service, delicuous food and a unforgettable dining experience. We will be back, oh and the desserts were out of this world.

The Makris Family has always taken care of me at The Diplomat, and they remain Reginas finest establishment. There are many excellent steakhouses in town, but The Diplomat has always been my favourite. The wine list is extensive. The table-side caesar salad is the best on earth. Steaks are amazing. Diplomat Chicken cant be beat. The service experience is always on point. I always leave this place with a smile.

Went here while traveling for work and was highly recommended. I now understand why. Great wine, great steak. Super friendly and professional service from start to finish. You wont be disappointed.

Went for a date night on New years day, first time to the Diplomat. Food was amazing, both our steaks cooked to perfection, worth every dollar. If I had one critique it was our server seem annoyed with us and came across very condescending. The rest of our experience was great, may second guess another visit.

After many years in Regina I finally ate at The Diplomat. I give it a solid 5 stars. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is perfect for a meal with visiting/conversation. The menu has many wonderful choices. I was not surprised by the prices at all: it is a high quality steakhouse. I found it completely worth the price. The steaks were amazing: honestly the best steak I ve had at any steakhouse I ve been to, including Calgary and Toronto. That additional aging of the steaks they do in-house really shows in the flavour and tenderness. I will definitely be back here: I think I ll make it my birthday dinner spot. There are so many great sounding menu items I plan to try; appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I highly recommend The Diplomat Steakhouse.

Sorry went there we were ignored for quite a while had to keep asking for service are you ordered a Caesar salad there was no dressing on it it tasted like croutons and parmesan cheese. I ordered king crab legs and asked for a glass of wine with my meal that didnt come until I was almost done my meal nobody asked to see how anything was we had to call the bus girl over for a few things. Will never go back

The steaks here never disappoint!

Been here many times, and I ve yet to have a negative experience. A Regina staple and an experience I d recommend to all. UPDATE: My entire group had quite a disappointing experience during our last visit. Despite staff doing their best(?) to make it right we all left disappointed. I m only removing a single star as previous experiences were enjoyable and I d still recommend this restaurant for everyone to try at least once.

in my many years of visiting Regina I have never visited here until now, the flambe was a site to witness, vwry relaxed and classy environment. such a famous line of visitors, a must see, wall of fame. my favorite was John Candy, after seeing his picture, oh how i wished the ol 96er made an appearance on the menu, ahhhh, only if.....but the t-bone, the Tomahawk and steak and lobster made their professional debuts for many at our table. thank you for the great steak and exceptional service.

The food and service was excellent

I came here with a group for a business dinner. We had the calamari, shrimp scampi, and mushroom victoria to start. I had the 19 oz Cajun Ribsteak and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Their medium was closer to a medium-rare in my opinion, but it was still delicious. My colleague had table-side steak tartar which isn t my taste but he enjoyed it and the presentation was very enjoyable. If you can afford it, I recommend this place.

*PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ORDERING THE WAGYU!* My medium-rare wagyu was tougher and drier than my girlfriend s regular medium-rare tenderloin (which was already dry to begin with) disappointed. Not to mention the name is very misleading: there is no Canadian Kobe Wagyu Beef . Kobe beef is from Japan, it is specifically the Tajima strain of Japanese Black cattle, raised in Japans Hy go Prefecture. The wagyu served here is most likely a low percentage hybrid breed of low quality wagyu (not A5 or Kobe) and regular Canadian cattle. Shame on the establishment for misleading its customers. Edit: Confirmed from my research that Kobe Classic Beef is indeed just a marketing scheme to push their low quality Canadian wagyu onto customers and mislead them into thinking it is Japanese Kobe Wagyu! Don t believe me? Look at the difference between low quality Canadian/US wagyu and authentic Japanese Kobe Beef.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal for our 45th anniversary. The staff was great and the food was awesome. We started with Saganaki Cheese, a nice garden salad and the main course was Steak Diane. This was followed by their house dessert, flaming Strawberries with sauce on a crepe filled with ice cream. A delicious and relaxing evening. The Diplomat is always a great evening of fine dining with great staff.

Classical steakhouse great rich atmosphere.

This restaurant is in a place of its own. Wow! Outstanding. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. The steak and lobster were beyond expectation. I asked for a medium with just a little bit of blood and my goodness they nailed it. The lobster tails were excellent as well, but the steak stood out - it was that good. Furthermore, the ambiance was what a classy steak house should be and the service A+ all the way. This place reminded me of the Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington DC but the food at the Diplomat Steakhouse was so much better. Regina, cherish this place it is one in a million.

The Diplomat was a delightful step back into a lost world. Its exactly what I remember high end restaurants being in the 60s and 70s. Caesar salad prepared at your table. Steak Diane, Cherries Jubilee, Crêpes Suzette complete with table-side flambé. But the main show is the meat. This is a house of protein. My 12 oz tenderloin was as delicious as any Ive ever had. The food others were having also looked amazing. The only weak thing was the peppercorn sauce, but otherwise perfect, including the Crêpes Suzette. Obviously not a place to come often, but a fine place for a special occasion. I highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant and the staff are extremely friendly. You just always want to go back to a place like that. The ambience is perfect as well. I brought my friend here to celebrate her birthday. Although they dont offer a birthday special or chefs special treat for birthdays, they were kind enough to let us bring our cake and they helped cut it and serve it to everyone at the table. The food tastes so good. I ordered the New York Streak Strip and some potatoes. For a special night out, you want to visit this place.

Hands down the worst filet mignon I have ever had. How they could send out a steak that was so charred and think its acceptable, is dumbfounding. With each bite, all I tasted was charcoal. Were it not for the fact I was at my friends wedding rehearsal dinner, I would have spoken to the manager and sent it back. I would strongly recommend against this restaurant if you like steak.

The service and appetizers were excellent but ive never seen such a thin (maybe 1/2 inch thick ) filet mignon before at a restaurant of the diplomats caliber before ever so was a bit disappointed . ..

There are not enough good things I can say about the Diplomat in Regina. The food was above & beyond the best I have ever had but what inpressed me the most was the outstanding service. Our server Jackson was so friendly & knew what we needed before we did. I would recommend the Diplomat in a heartbeat.

Took my wife and son there for her birthday. They had the 16 ounce New York strip which is huge, thick, nicely marbled, tender, and delicious, aged 45 days on-site. I had the Steak Diana which is prepared at the table, slowly simmering while you watch in anticipation that is rewarded with the most incredible flavors imaginable. Excellent, very experienced and friendly staff. Great experience as always.

I like to go here for business lunches. The service is always very professional. The linen table cloths and napkins are very classy and the food is very good. It costs less than you might think for this first class restaurant. Also, the booths with high dividers support private conversatons. They have free parking in their side lot if you arrive before noon.

Absolutely stunning experience! It was our first time going for both of us, we went for our 3 year anniversary, I had the diplomat chicken and he had the 16oz filet mignon, absolutely amazing food! Visiting Regina after 30 years. We had dinner here with our former professor in this classy steakhouse. We had Fillet Mignon and New York Strip. The steaks are tender and delicious. Also amazing services.

If you want a classic restaurant experience, this is the place. Everything is by the book, including the table tossed cesar salad. Ive had a Cajun rib steak and it was delicious. The portions are large, but I had to clean up my plate.

Excellent food from a varied menu.

This place is is what the Keg wants to be when it grows up. Literally has changed my perspective on what steak should taste like, and every time I go, I leave in awe. Staff is old school cool and classy, but with modern and accepting of everyone. Wine collection and bar is best I have seen in Canada and will always tell people to go for the experience. Its a spectacular spectacle that is worth it.

Ive had a terrific meal every time I eat at the Diplomat. Their Caesar salad is so tasty and for an entree, I strongly recommend the Diplomat chicken. So tender with great feta cheese inside and and incredible sauce drizzled over it. Their garlic bread they serve before the meal is incredible as well. Ill be back!

Our evening was fantastic. The food was delectable and the atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable. All of the staff was very smartly dressed. Our server was amazing. She was able to participate in coherent conversations, had an answer for all of my questions, and good comebacks for some of my statements . We were there for three hours and at no time did we feel rushed.

Twas our first time to visit the place. We love every beat of it. The place was so perfect to celebrate our special occasion. The French onion soup was great, the special of the day was so delicious and above all, our dine in was memorable because of Brianna. So lovely and she knows their food very well. She suggested food to us and we tried it. She is a gem. We were well take cared of. Over all, it was a lovely dinner on a cool, bit rainy day. Be back soon..

Top notch place: the food was great, had their greek style stuffed bonelss chicken; the staff were great as well and the decor was really nice as well. I highly enjoyed it.

Great service however the steaks were a total disappointment. The filet mignon was very thin and quite tough. It lacked seasoning as well. My husband had a New York steak that was also very thin, undercooked and sinewy. Not the quality we would expect from a high end steakhouse. Stick the the Keg if you want a good steak

Came for a friends birthday & it was the best service & experience weve ever experienced (even being servers ourselves) the staff here cares so much and put all effort into every little detail. Well worth the price tag for food, drinks, & service like this!!

The server was super nice and informative. The place has good atmosphere. It is an upscale restaurant. The restrooms are clean. The meal was just okay.

The Ribeye ordered Med Rare, it came Well done and tough as nails. The steak knife had difficulty cutting. Guess we going back to Earles.

Very disappointing experience - steaks don t taste well and are too expensive. The servers were also not friendly to us.

Only been here twice in the span of 15 years. Both times were amazing food, atmosphere and people.

The Diplomat was a fun dining experience. The hospitality of some bar seating when our table wasnt ready, the wine suggestion from Kyle was spot on, Joe served up a mean table side caeser salad(probably the best in the restaurant) and the main course was great. The icing on the cake was the table side strawberries and peppercorn.

Family ran business! Youll be greeted with appreciation and served top quality. The owners make sure to source only the best ingredients. The staff are so friendly and will prepare some meals right at your table. The Diplomat is a full experience.

Definitely over hyped and over priced! You can get better calamari and Greek salad anywhere! The steak... definitely disappointing! I didnt even finish it. Pub quality steak, chewy and nothing special at all. Even the desserts, youd expect more but no! Just ok. The place is very nice sure! The service good, the food... Average, not worth the money. Will I go back? Never.
