Despite being empty, decided to try it out and then found out why no one was there. Pay first, like many other fast food places and like many other places, their POS asks for a tip. I gave them a tip and soon realized that that was another mistake. Food was reasonably quick but the service was non-existant. A robot comes out with your food and you have to grab it off the delivery bot. You self serve your drinks, and afterwards you bring your tray back to their counter. No where in the process except for ordering do you get service. The food itself is bland. We got the gyudons and found a huge piece of egg shell in it (picture below). When I mentioned it to the staff, I was barely acknowledged. I'd avoid this one, as most others have decided to.
The restaurant is a self served food court style place. The food is affordable as they offer smaller portion at lower price. Ordered teriyaki rice. The meat is bland, so basically eating the rice with the sauce. Other food was ok. Got upset stomach after the visit. Not sure if it was related to the food or not.
Cafeteria style dinning, order, paid and served by robot. Good for quick meal.
Food is aite. Lots of options from gyu don, beef rice to katsu rice. They also got some snacks as well. Most of the rice options come on 3 sizes. The staff are friendly and kind. They got the robot bringing you food to the table. Shop is spacious. Jumbo cheese gyu don Katsu curry don If you miss the gyu dons in Japan ill say this is a goo bandaid!
I love this Japanese restaurant in Markham! It’s a Japanese fast food restaurant! The taste was authentic for me. ( I am a Japanese) I am really glad I had this option for eating out with little kids during our travel. And the staffs are very friendly and kind too!
Everything tastes like package food. We ordered the Niku Tama Udon ($14.99), the Niku Curry Udon ($12.99), and the Gyudon ($12.49). The curry tastes like straight up like those Japanese curry sauces that you get at the grocery store. The udon is just frozen packaged udon. When it comes down to quality it honestly tastes like something you can make at home. There’s nothing special about the food. Everything was overly salty to the point where you’ll be chugging water for the next hour. The only good thing about this place is that the portions are on the bigger side, but that’s about it.
I should probably go back to try their gyudon. I ordered their udon and takoyaki and it was average, good. For the price it wasn’t bad, but they do put the tempura in the udon so it gets soggy very quickly. I’m also not sure why they don’t serve dine-in orders on proper reusable plates and bowls. Only the udon is served in a ceramic bowl but gyudon and the takoyaki were served in take-out containers. There is also a robot server that serves you which I didn’t expect to see but entertaining nonetheless.
I don't know what's more impressive - the delicious food or the fact that I got served by a robot! Seriously, this place is like a food court from the future. You place your order at the cashier and then BAM! Your food magically appears on a tray, carried by a robot waiter. I was half-expecting R2D2 to roll by and offer me some soy sauce. But jokes aside, the food was seriously tasty. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. My only complaint is that everything was served in paper containers, which made me feel like I was at a kid's birthday party. But hey, at least they didn't serve the udon in a balloon animal! If you're looking for a fun and tasty dining experience, check out Kome Shokudo. Just don't be surprised if you find yourself trying to high-five the robot waiter.
Glad I am not putting the take out on my car seats, The curry karagee spilled out of the bowl, careless service better to check it before carrying.
went in all empty . girls looked busy . microwave food , curry is not even fully warmed up .
Relaxed place, the kitty serving robot is very cute! Food is comfort food, reasonably priced. Today it was a bit salty but otherwise I was well satisfied
Clean, Staff Friendly
This is our new favorite restaurant on DoorDash. We mostly get the gyudon (its delicious) and kimchi, miso soup, squid and the salad options. I like how there are options that dont include rice (for people on a diet), and that they use proper heat safe containers. The food is consistently good.
Very slow .
Ahhh its okay, I dont think its authentic but what is nowadays
the robot service is really good :)
I miss when they didn t serve you with take out stuff when dining in
A cozy spot for beef bowls and other japanese comfort foods. They had a cozy studio ghibli-esque playlist on everytime ive been which adds to the cozy vibe. The portion sizes were great and the service was fairly fast (with cute lil robo servers).
Delicious no frills place. Order at the cashier and get your own drink. Don t expect any ambiance as there are boxes piled next to the cash but rice dishes like gyudon & katsu are yummy. Skip the udon
Great restaurant for kids! The casual atmosphere and quick service are excellent for family dining. Food is good; We especially enjoyed the Udon. The best part was the cat robot server that the kids loved. Diner and entertainment all in one! There are also highchairs available and a kids menu. Kid-friendliness: The kids loved the cat robot server. There are highchairs and a kids menu.
So good! Food is totally comfort food and a nice atmosphere that is relaxing
Used to come here every week or so. After they removed ramen, I came here less and less. The donburi is still good, but costs a little more than what I would prefer.
Quick and yummy food at affordable prices.
Good portion. Staffs are friendly and polite. Food quality is good but I find the taste is a little blend.
Tried the udon and chicken Katsu. Average taste and portion size was good. No complaints. Quick service.
I have been eating it since I was in high school in 2018, and my favorite is still this hot spring egg beef rice. Unfortunately, I am no longer in RH. It takes a long time to come back, so I can t order takeout like before.
As a loyal patron of Kome, I must express my deep disappointment with recent changes. Not only have they increased prices, but the portion sizes have noticeably decreased. What really infuriates me is that their current Jumbo serving is now smaller than what used to be considered Large! I used to visit Kome at least once a week for their generous portions and flavourful dishes. However, recent experiences have left me reconsidering my choice. The substantial portions I once enjoyed have been replaced with what feels like a meal on a diet plan. It baffles me why they would treat their loyal customers this way
My husband and I absolutely love ordering food from here. Our favourite is the GyuDon with spicy mayo and cavier. Ive also tried other options on their menu and they never disappoint. After years of ordering from here, I decided to finally make a review as the staff were exceptional with service during my visit yesterday while I ordered take out. I had my son with me and it was pouring rain out when my food was ready. They went above and beyond to help us out while I loaded my son in the car and helped brought out the food with me so I wouldnt have to take multiple trips to the car. I am beyond thankful and grateful for their exceptional customer service! Thank you so much!!! We will obviously be back again!
Great Japanese comfort food. Very filling, price was great for the portion of food you get. Never a disappointment.
A robot brings you your food. Not an intense amount of variety on the menu but everything they do, they do well. Very kid-friendly. Usually people there but rarely need to wait for a table most weekends. Vegetarian options: Several vegetable based dishes. I cant speak to the vegetarian/vegan nature of the broth. But lots of tofu and mushrooms. Ive had these dishes and theyre great. Parking: Shared parking space, mostly full but never needed to leave to find a spot Kid-friendliness: Lots of people bring their kids. People smile at my kids instead of sneering, which I think is a solid foundation. Wheelchair accessibility: It is.
As a parent, finding wholesome and delicious options for school lunches can be a challenge, but Komo Shokudo has turned this task into a delight. Their commitment to offering healthy food for school lunches is truly commendable, making them a standout choice for families seeking nourishing options. It is not just about the food - Komo Shokudo also prioritizes sustainability and environmental responsibility. The lunch is made by using eco-friendly packaging, instilling valuable lessons about health and sustainability in the next generation. Beyond the healthy options, what truly sets Komo Shokudo apart is the genuine warmth and hospitability of its owner. The owner is very nice and shows great caring to children. When I went to the restaurant to try out the option of Chicken Katsudon for my son before I made the order through the school lunch program. Although Chicken Katsudon is not on the regular lunch menu, the owner made the dish right at the spot and explained to me the difference in the student lunch as compared to the regular menu. His genuine care and generosity create a sense of community, where guests receive a warm welcome and heartfelt hospitality.
Great food, but service is awful Staff often forget to call you when your order is ready. One particularly negative experience: I was the only customer there and one order came out of the kitchen. Asked if it was mine. No. Thats ok - maybe its a phone order. Waited 30 minutes, with mutiple follow ups, before they said it actually was.
How interesting it is to have food delivered by a robot! Chicken wing steak rice and curry Gillette pork chop rice are both good!
This curry udon, which is plain udon + curry sauce, cost $11+. The 4 miniscule pieces of pork katsu, which was paper thin, cost $4.5. I think the restaurant was too focused on their margin and forgot there are many restaurants out there that offer much better value. Smart customers will eventually figure this out, so beware and good luck if you decide to continue to run your business this way...
I absolutely adore this place! Such good value for the price you pay! Vegetarian options: They have veg options! Food : 5/5 |
The lady whom took the order was patiently explaining the different sizes they offer and I loved her attitude. The food wasn t very hot and the booth that are closer to the door was quite cold everytime the door is open.
Came here for work day lunch. Busy parking lot.
I have been searching for a replacement for Naniwa Taro, and while this place wasn t bad, it was certainly disappointing for how many recommendations I got on it. I got the pork katsu curry, small gyu beef bowl (no rice), and some gyozas. Note that this was an Uber Eats order. The gyozas were incredibly dry, flavour was ok. The beef was actually quite pleasant, and I liked it a lot. It wasn t too dry, and was well flavoured without being overwhelming. The main dish - the curry. The katsu was so incredibly thin - I feel like the meat might have been paper thin, and the texture only held up by the panko. The curry itself didn t taste bad, but I tasted a hint of ginger, which for me, completely ruined it. The flavour profile, otherwise, was very close to what I was looking for; it wasn t overly sweet, and the spice is nice and subdued. In addition, they gave us a ridiculously small amount of curry sauce, barely enough for dipping the katsu in. I probably won t go back, but that s because I m incredibly picky with my curry. I believe most people would be ok with the sauce, but will probably take issue with how thin the katsu is. I can recommend the gyudon though.
Fried squid was so so good. I had to come back the next day and got two portions of squid. Their other rice dishes and japenese snacks were really good too. Really reasonably priced.
Delicious don bowl/curry bowls. The dishes are very simple but taste great for a fast food spot w a seating area.
Fairly priced. Plus, you get a cute robot waiter serving your meal.
Great for and service! Feels like your having food in Japan!
Tried curry chicken karaage last time. Chicken is crunchy and not so oily so I decided to try Niku curry udon this time. Unexpected too salty for the beef. Hard to eat it at the end even though I drunk a lot of water. Besides the staff are nice. And all of the order are passed by the robot, quite interesting.
Their best item is their Udon! Very filling for just their regular size. Also got Korokke but was disappointed cuz the picture shows 3 whole pieces, but we got just 2, cut into 4 halves.
One of my favourite Japanese curry spots! Excellent service with excellent flavour! I usually get the curry karaage and the normal size at that! Usually thats enough for me, but the Jumbo size is also good if youre very hungry!
My go to place.
Ill probably eat here everyday if theyre located near my house. Its that good.
Delicious food, friendly staff, reasonable prices
Ive had a couple of tasty Udon bowls here. Food comes quickly, and is served by a robot which adds some novelty to the experience. Service is always great!
great
Came here for a quick lunch. After reading all the positive reviews, my hopes were high, but I thought the food was mediocre. You pretty much seat and serve yourselves, there s water by the cash. We ordered upfront and was served by a cute robot later. The food came fast, but quality was just okay. I ordered a tempura udon, but the tempura were all soggy once it arrived, the udon was a bit soggy as well, not the chewy kind. My Gyu Don with egg definitely had more rice than beef, I found myself rationing the beef at the end of the bowl. Overall, it was nothing impressive, but price is fair and food came quick, it s a nice lunch spot.
Hidden gem of a place with great Gyudon and ramens ! Great price and best value !
Really great place to sit down and slowly eat. Its clean, spacious, and quiet. Gyudon was pretty good. Also had their Gyudon Poutine (sorry forgot to take a picture) which was a novelty and pretty darned good to boot. The size and price of the meals here dont disappoint either. They also have a cute robot on wheels that serves your meal if thats something youre interested in.
Delicious comfort food. Now they have a robot serving!
Im so addicted to eat their food! At least order twice a month
Authentic Japanese comfort food. Menu consists of mostly Tempura, Ramen, Rice and Curry dishes. Tried some of the Tempura sides, Takoyaki, Vegetarian Ramen and Vegetable Don. All were pretty good and the prices are reasonable. They also give you a free regular main dish after a few visits which seems like a decent reward program to me. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Ramen and Don available. Parking: Very busy parking on the weekend. Kid-friendliness: Booster seats and high chairs available.
Good portions, really good curry. The combo meal is priced well. Fast and good spot for a quick lunch.
very good
Hands down the best gyudon Ive ever had in Toronto! They dont skimp on the beef, and its consistently tender and flavourful. The whole family loves it!
I ordered two dishes from Kome Shokudo, and only one item was delivered. I called the restaurant for a refund, but the person who answered was impolite and busy deflecting their mistake without giving an apology. I am not ordering from this place again. Not judging from the quality of food (which I do not know since I have not tried) but for their low quality of service.
Food was great. Portions on the smaller size unless you upsize it. Place wasnt too busy. Got our food pretty fast and it was brought out by a robot :)
Foods served in paper bowls not expected Portion is small even you upgraded it Curry is fine but the pork cutlets are so thin like only 5mm each can t taste the meat at all $18 inclusive for food court style food a bit not worth.
Their large portion for the udon is *really* a lot of noodles. Like, a lot. The robot server is kawai.
Hours not accurate. Store closed
Wrong open time. We come 10: 30 wait until 11: 00 then they say open 12: 00.
Ordered the Gyu-don with kimchi and the chicken karaage. The beef on the gyu-don was a bit cold. Portion of the gyu-don was quite large which was good. The chicken karaage was nice and crispy, bit heavy on the breading but the spicy mayo was delicious. Overall a nice japanese place that has a cute robot that comes and delivers your order.
Tasty food in reasonable price. Love how they have different price for different sizes and there s no mandatory tips. There s no disappointment with anything from the menu. Quality/taste: 8/10 Quantity: 7.5/10 Price: $-$$
Upon entering the restaurant you order at the counter. Once you sit down a automated robot brings you your food. There is complementary ice water with lemon for you to pour yourself and everything is self-service. The decor of the restaurant itself is getting quite dated and needs a little touch up but its still quite clean and enjoyable. The food itself is quite delicious and they have very very good prices for the food they serve. I ate a beef bowl along with a chicken karage appetizer and ended up paying less than $20 for a large amount of food. I ordered the smallest bowl size for the beef and even then it was still quite a generous portion. They have larger sizes available for a couple extra dollars which I am sure if you were hungry would fill you an extra amount. The beef itself was plentiful in the beef bowl and it was flavored quite nicely. When it came to the quality of the meat it wasnt the greatest but for the price I would say its definitely worth it. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody that likes beef bowls or katsu and wants to stand for a quick bite to eat. They do offer takeout as well as delivery and Im sure those options are great.
Same as other reviews, self-service with a cute robot delivered the food. We got gyudon with scallions and hot spring egg, and curry chicken karage with rice, both were tasty and portion (reg size) was right. Relaxing vibe with soft background music.
Fun place to eat in or take out You get served by an awesome robot so cute. Lots to choose from. Great for the family Food
Perfect! In this period of inflation, this store still doesnt increase prices. Its really a reasonable price and you can eat enough!
Delicious, feels like it s really made by Japanese people
Nikku Curry Udon (Reg Size) Portion was great (5/5), was excited to see it covered w beef and curry. Taste - a tad salty, otherwise ok 3.5 to 4 out of 5 Service - a miss, robot delivered to wrong table and had to get it myself Vibe - nice, relaxed and casual Was disappointed to find out Ramen is no longer part of the menu. Udon noodles only. Still decent value in this inflationary environment for now.
overall experience was good
Unprofessional staff. Long wait time to get food. Waitress so awful. Not recommend to go there. Also dirty kitchen
We ordered some appetizers and got a couple gyu rice bowls and a kids undo to share. The prices were decent and the portions were good! The place got really busy and was always full of people ordering take out and uber pickups!
The food here tastes good for its price! Portions are good and service is quick and easy. There is a robot server that does the serving! The store is clean most of the time, quiet, and cozy. Takeout is also very good as they seperate and keep things as fresh as possible for travel. They have a points system as well for a free bowl!
I had the Niku Beef Udon. The udon was too salty and packed with MSG. The meat is poor quality. This is definitely not authentic udon. The menu does not contain an english translation for the main ingredients / protein. They serve the meals using a robot which is quite quirky and entertaining. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Kome Shokudo.
Ordered the regular size ebiten udon and was disappointing. There were only 2 super small soggy shrimp tempuras. They gave a lot of udon though if you like eating 95% noodles and no topping.
The food was quite filling, and we were all full The food was also delicious and the price was friendly, with an average of $12 per person. Parking: Its a bit hard to park during meal time, but you dont have to wait long Kid-friendliness: Children should like it, but the portion may be quite large.
Good food portion! Meal always taste good!
This is like food court style, we ordered food and ate here. Gyu Don, Takoyaki, Spinach in sesame dressing are good. Food
First time checking this place out Heres a very quick review - Very friendly staff - Very Nice Atmosphere with Jazz music playing - Food was amazing and Quantity was more than enough - And LASTLY, its very cheap compare to most places that serve Udons and Katsu Would highly recommend for people to check and visit this place out
Good beef, good rice, good seasoning, good price.
A quick bite for some Japanese food.
The setting of restaurant is simple and to yourself. Had the gyu don first time with some karaage. The gyudon was moist and had flavour. Karaage is was really good a not thick bread layer and just chicken. Pricing was good for its quantity provided Food
If you miss Yoshinoya, this is probably the closest thing to it in Ontario.
Hidden gem alert! This budget-friendly spot serves up mouthwatering Japanese cuisine with a twist. From delectable rice bowls to curry and udon, theyve got it all. Students flock here (including me during my study days) for a satisfying meal on a budget. But whats truly unique? The personalized service! After ordering at the cashier, your meal is brought to your table by a dedicated staff member or even a cute robotic cat. Pictured here is their regular-sized rice bowl, but hold on theres more! They offer larger portions in large and jumbo sizes, perfect for sharing between two people. Get your Japanese food fix without emptying your wallet at this cozy joint. Trust me, you wont be disappointed!
Very cute waitor
A solid 5 star for its well-made Dons, comfortable environment and reasonable prices. Not to mention the little robot delivering meals to your side makes the dinning experience more fun. A great go-to option for the neighborhood.
This place offers Japanese beef bowls and chicken, where they are typically only found in snack sized portions at izakaya style restaurants. The food is great and served by interesting tray handling robots. Parking in this plaza is awful during busy periods, but it is worth the hassle if you are in the area looking for Japanese comfort food. The curry karaage rice is excellent.
Portion sizes are good and the food is affordable. But, the food needs seasoning badly. The food is bland.
Update!! Came back for a quick dinner. Such an amazing experience. Great prices, great service, good food. Their fried chicken was pretty darn good. I ll be back again!!! Been here twice in one month. I really like it. I believe the portions are fair for the price. I also find it very flavourful. I ve had order #G1 and #G4. The wait times for take out order is short. I will be back again when I don t feel like cooking. Thank you & I hope to see your restaurant open for a long, long time! P.S. I m surprised to see so many low reviews on here.
Curry was good
Budget friendly and amazing staff!
Wrong opening time and bad service
This is an affordable Japanese restaurant that sells ramen, Japanese udon and don. Use counter ordering and robot delivery. After finding a seat by yourself, order at the counter and tell the table number, and the robot will automatically deliver the food to the table.
Lately, whatever food I get or is cold or burned. I tried small bowl of beef and it was cold and asked them to re do it. It was returned to me the same. I tried chicken Karagee, It was burned to the bone. I am not sure what is happening in the kitchen, but something is wrong. I can understand once s in a while they can miss the mark, but recently there are many of it.
Really good cheese gyudon
It felt more like a fast food place than a restaurant. The food was still excellent. It came out quickly and tasted great. There were a few small issues here and there but mostly things out of the restaurants control; the staff made any effort possible to rectify the issues. 100% recommend this place to anyone.
Ordered the Gyudon with Scallions and Hot Spring Egg (large). The portion wasnt massive, but still good for its price. Staff were friendly and service was great. Will return to try other things on the menu.
Visit again in Dec 2021 and the curry chicken was very burnt! As you can see it s nearly black :( not acceptable. ________________________ Portion is very small if you get the regular size. Ok to feed a female with small appetite but my male friends are left hungry. I find the gyu (beef) dons are better than ramen in general. Try the cheese gyu don if you don t mind the extra calories. Taste awesome! Pay in cash and get 5% off.
Great food! The GyuDon dishes are tasty and theres really good kids meals options. Ebi Fry was a favourite all around. Pretty generous portions, the Middle size was unexpectedly more than anticipated.
A little hidden gem that only locals know, this small and quick-serve Japanese restaurant provides quality food that is higher than what you might expect. Their basic gyudon is super yummy because of the quality of the beef they use (trust me on this), and I love the version with the torched cheese (who wouldnt?). Service CAN be slow when its busy but I honestly cannot blame the workers because I can see how turbo-like they are working. Overall, I would recommend this spot!
Consistent with good quality!! Have been getting takeout from them for so many times since last year
Food portions are always huge. Staff is great, I love this place!!!
Good eats and good portions at a fair price.
They arent kidding when they say comfort food. A meal of Japanese curry just makes me feel warm and happy inside. I cant say enough good things about this restaurant. Where else can you get a full meal for $10 nowadays. Quality of the curry is very good, they dont just use the curry pre-made cubes, they mix it with vegetables and spice it up. Chicken katsu is crispy and not too dry. The tofu is large and fried well. Kids menus are cheap and good portions for kids. Just make sure your kid can handle some mild spice as the curry is very flavourful. Vegetarian friendly! I cant wait to come back and try more items on the menu.
Take out service is fast and attentive. Most of the food taste good asides from the fried items. We didn t take a picture of it but the fried chicken was very dark and over cooked.
Delicious!
Taste is ok, but not excellent. Portion is good, but price also a bit high. Staffs friendly and helpful. Overall it s not as good as expected. Can try, but don t expect too much.
This is a hidden gem for affordable Japanese comfort food. It is never a bad idea whenever I choose to eat here. From rice bowl to side dishes to sets are all great choices. They also give you generous proportion of food. The regular size is more than enough food to make me feel full. Their karage are tasty and affordable, whenever I have a fired chicken craving I always come here. They have recently switched the reman selection with udon and is my new go-to food. I always order their Niku Tama Udon or Niku curry udon. The udon consists is always on point. If you are thinking of trying this please out you will not regret it!
The best comfort food! I had the Gyu Don with Kimchi which was amazing.
It seems the food quality went down since the pandemic. I used to really like their chicken karaage and how juicy it was, but it now it tastes overcooked and not fresh. It had a weird taste to it and I ended up throwing it all away. I was really looking forward to it and was going to overlook the fact that I got the regular chicken karaage instead of the spicy chicken karaage I ordered. The spicy mayo and caviar gyudon is still very good and service is very quick.
Food is pretty good. Not the best but the price to quality is decent
Great customer service and great quality of food. Loves it.
Clean restaurant, good for solo or family. I ordered an Niku udon, the udon is chewy, taste good, a bit more beef will give 5 star.
Came back after a long while, now they have a cute cat robot serving food to the table. Food quality is still on point comforting with good portion and decent price
Great food, nice staff and cool cat serving robot
Great taste
The Coke in the drink machine has a weird smell and is sour. It tastes disgusting. The beef udon noodles have a strong fishy smell, the noodles are also very chewy, and the soup tastes very oily and strange. I don t know if the cooking kits are taken out and sold directly. Lunch today made me sick. I guess I got so many good reviews from someone else. I really won t come again
This is a self-serve Japanese restaurant but not really a fast food kind of a restaurant. Their menu has a variety of rice bowls, curry and udon. We ordered our food at the cashier. The cute robot will deliver you food by your table. The rice is served in a paper container. They use a real bowl for noodles. Their food tasted pretty good and the price was affordable.
Delicious and fun!!!
The curry Katsu is awesome great size portions!!
The katsu curry was so good, I was remembering it for days afterwards. The dine-in experience was so relaxed, it was great.
Love this place! Gotta check out Bella the Robot server. Yes! I said Robot server. They have a robot who delivers your dine-in meal to your table. Oh yeah, and the food is good too!
Really like it!
A hidden gem, has been my go-to spot in Richmond Hill for 2 years
Go to Japanese rice bowl place for me! They serve ramen, rice bowls, appetizers--and theyre all super delicious! They have robot servers that come and bring your food out, and have a lot of variety in their menu for you to choose from. Definitely will come back again!
New Go-To quick Japanese spot. Prices are fair, food is great, quick and you get your food brought to your table by a kind of creepy robotic cat. Also smooth jazz while you eat is also a vibe.
Very nice Japanese rice / udon restaurant. I first tried their takeout from delivery platform. Their takeout is already stunning. Today I tried dine in. Nice service and food quality. The serving robot was funny. A very good dining experience. Fun to bring your kid too. Have to try Ramune (Japanese traditional marble stopper pop), if you have never had one.
Ive been here several times in the past, its a great place to grab some comfort food and enjoy. For anybody whos looking to come for their first time, you walk in and just grab your swat. You order at front and somebody (I had a cute robot handing out my food!) will bring out the food order. I ordered the Large Curry Ebi Fry ($13.49) with the combo (+$3). I picked green salad and a can of coke. The combo can come with two of the following: Miso soup, soft drink (can), or a salad. You pick two of the sbove. As for the salad, you can pick between one of the three salads: green salad, potato salad, and kimchi. The food was really good! I love their curry, nothing much to say! The ebi fry (Japanese fried shrimp) had a nice crunchy texture and soft on the inside.
Hi to Bella!
Their Beef&Chicken Teriyaki Don is the BEST!!! The double meal is very similar to Yoshinoya, I found my treasure!
Great food, great service. One thing that I would like is that they offer the option to add an egg for the dons in the Uber Eats menu.
Convenient and great taste!
Good value and taste
This place is a self served restaurant, featuring gyu (beef) don and other items as well. 3 starts because 1) it s lacking consistency. Sometimes the rice is so soggy and overcooked, sometimes there s little to no sauce in the rice and it s just so plain and hard to eat. 2) the snack items are always sold out. They have a stamp program. Collect 1 stamp per don.
The beef rice is rich in flavor and melts in your mouth. The croquettes are full of flavor, but the only drawback is that the portions are a bit small. It would be nice if there were larger portions. The food is served quickly, the service is good, and the price is moderate.
I recommend Curry udon here! Okonomiyaki was very good for the side menu. Price was reasonable and very interested in robot table service for food delivery :)
Japanese comfort food in a self serve/food court style restaurant. Service is quick, food was delicious with good portion sizes. They have a kids menu. We would return.
These Japanese meals are made more affordable through self-service and robots.
Taste is okay but not good as before. The food delivery robot is cute though.
Ok
A cute little Japanese food place where you order at the counter and pay, take a seat wherever, and a robot comes to deliver your food. That was quite interesting because its not that big of a restaurant but a niche touch. The prices here are reasonable and a lot of dishes come in 3 sizes. I got the unagi don which comes only in regular. It was great taste wise but half of the bowl was unfortunately egg instead of unagi as the picture showed.
A relaxed and friendly atmosphere that is great for lunch or take out. They have an adorable little serving robot that brings your food and its great fun for the kids.
A robot served me my food lool unusual but food is good.
Yummy gyudons. They have a variety of options including dons, ramen, udon etc. prices are reasonable. Service was good and staff was friendly.
We were so sad when Naniwa Taro in North York closed. But we found Kome Shokudo! Everything was perfect - The food, portion, service, vibe, music, and of course the robot lol we are definitely coming back!
Love the Katsu, always fast fresh and delicious. Great quality rice. A staple in this neighborhood.
This place is super cool. They reward you with a stamp card that gets you a free meal after 8 stamps. Also, there is a cute ROBOT that comes to your table with your food! Ive also grabbed food from here to go, and its pretty good too.
Agree with previous post, quality and quantity has gone downhill. I suspect an ownership change, as the previous owner mainly hired Japanese staff, but this time saw a number of Chinese staff. Seems like just another Chinese run Japanese Cafe. Many corners being cut this can be seen in the quality of the food. Meals are smaller and more expensive. Katsu has only a few pieces and fried dry. Gyudon and curry rice portions are much smaller than before but price tags higher. I dont mind paying more but it would be nice to keep the portions and quality the way as before.
Great food and customer service! They remembered credit I had six months ago and still applied it. Only place I know where you can increase portion sizes.
Great food, good price and awesome customer service.
Its filling and delicious
Great service. Delicious food
Sometimes you just want some simple but comforting Japanese food and this is a fantastic place for it.
Very delicious beef rice.
Visited this café for teishoku because I was craving Japanese food so much. My husband and I ordered salmon teishoku, cheese gyudon, croquetts, zenzai (sweet azuki soup with mochi) :) Miso soup that came with my teishoku had asari (clams) flavor and was tasty :) salmon was a thick fillet and marinated with Miso and maple syrup . We couldnt finish all, so brought left over home. Also staff were friendly and made our lunch even better. Thank you so much for making our stay comfortable. I would love to stop by to chat with staff and grab dorayaki someday soon. (Oh wish they say irashaimase )
Always have a great experience with takeout from here. Very quick prep and the food is fresh and delicious. The sliced beef on rice is a family favourite, but I personally love the eel most. I m personally not a huge fan of their karaage or fried ebi because no dipping sauce beyond mayo is provided, but other members of my family enjoy them. Will continue to be a staple when we re considering takeout - always a solid choice!
The taste was so delicious and like real Japanese gyudon and curry. The karaage was so good too. The service was so good, and I will be back again. I will recommend coming here! It seems quite busy as well.
The food is decent but the portion sizes are way too small. I havent left a restaurant this hungry at this price point in a while. The dishes are tasty enough for what it is. The portion size needs to at least be 50% more for this to compete with similar Japanese restaurants in this area.
First time here. Tasted like deli food at the supermarket, beef don tasted very bland and ramen reminds me of instant noodles. Came in late lunch and saw its staff napping in the seating area just like those at a Chinese restaurant. Simplified Chinese on the menu if that matters. I do understand its more like a takeout place, so kept expectations low.
Japanese and comfort food. What a tastier selection from the normal fast food places when you want to just order/grab and go. There is dine in as well. In a small plaza, quite busy with parking and mcd drive thru. However, service was fast- in and out. Thank you for a good Friday.
Love it
This restaurant is essentially a self-served Japanese fast food place. The food quality is good, not great, but definitely satisfies some Japanese food cravings, especially since they offer a skew of harder to find dishes (well see about their ramen though, I suspect it cant be that good). Their prices are great in person, but their delivery prices are way too high.
Tasty
good food
Fast service and delicious food. My go-to orders are the gyudon with scallions and egg or the unagi don. Not sure what kind of rice they use but it s got a great texture and slight sweetness.
High quality Japanese dishes and good prices!
I dine-in at Kome a few years back and ordered the Gyudon and remembered it being pretty good and affordable. It reminded me of Japan, how you order and pay for the food first then grab a seat and the server brings you the food after. It was a clean establishment and friendly staff. Back to present day, Hubby & I was looking for a last minute take out dinner option and decided to try Kome again as its very close to our house. I called in advance to place an order for pick up, 3 Gyudons, 1 Curry Katsu and 1 Ramen bowl, the lady on the phone told me 10 - 15 mins. Sent my brother in law to pick it up and it was ready when he got there (probably took him 10 minutes to arrive). So if youre looking for fast and affordable this would be the place. [Gyudon] I got 1 regular Gyudon and 2 regular Gyudon with spring egg and I find that it was the perfect size and for $9.99 pretty worth. The meat and rice ratio was good, every bite had a balance of rice and meat. The only thing is, I wish it had a bit more sauce. [Curry Pork Katsu Rice] Got the large order of this, and they are very generous with the meat. It was still crispy even for take out (but keep in mind, I only live about 10 minutes away). Curry flavour is very mild. [Spicy Miso Ramen] I ordered the regular with Chicken Karaage, it comes with half an egg but I decided to add another half egg making it one full egg. The ramen was disappointing, the noodles were soggy and broth was not very spicy and tasted almost like instant noodles... The chicken karaage was good and so was the egg but overall I would not order or recommend getting ramen here.
My to go comfort food!
-Portion was ok. -Chicken broth was super oily(make sure you get a drink) -Miso broth was watered down and bland -Chashu super soft but bland -Karaage chicken is dry, lacks flavor and its like they fried it in old oil -Gyudon was ok less savory compared to other stores -Rice is ok.... -More of a take out restaurant then dine in. Dont expect full service. Overall I dont recommend this restaurant even if the price was lower by a couple of dollars.
The food was awesome! I definitely recommend the karaage and the unagi meal. Totally worth the price.
Always enjoy the food from this place and the customer service.
Its like japanese fast-food chain Yoshinoya. I think its good place to grab a quick meal. If you miss yoshinoyas gyudon then give it a try. Regular size was good enough for me. Found it was little bit salty but overall it was not bad. The price is really good. Koroke is potatoe koroke it was average Takoyaki average. Hope they keep clean and keep the price for a long time.
Staff are super nice and work very hard!! I ordered the gyu don with spicy mayo and caviar and it was so delicious and worth the price. Ordered it with the gyoza as well which was also good but could have used some more flavour in the gyoza itself. Will definitely be back to try the curry next time!!
After spending an hour on food apps on a snowy day trying to find something affordable to eat, I came across Kome on fantuan. They had 30% off all items plus the $2.99 delivery fee was waived for $20+ order. I ordered the kids meals for my kids and they came with orange juices. My kid liked the japanese curry as it wasn t too spicy. The regular sized beef don was loaded with beef. Overall, it was a great family meal.
Really nice flavor profile in their dishes. Good bang for your buck for some classic Japanese homestyle cooking
Great service
