10140 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 1T7, Canada
Went here on a Sunday morning. Was packed but we were able to get seated after a few minutes. Once we placed our order it took 50 minutes for our breakfast to come to us. We could visibly see that the cooks were filling Uber eats and other delivery services meals first before any customers in store. I've never been to a breakfast joint (even when it's packed) taking 50 minutes. The food was delicious and for a good price but I could never wait another 50 minutes for eggs again.. I'll stick with take out as that is who they seem to prioritize
This place never disappoints. Roger has been the chef here for eons, even before he bought the place. This wonderful old diner has been around since the early 50's. The fare is simple and honest. Don't expect haute cuisine. What you can expect is great service, good prices and honest working person's food. I tried the grilled chicken club on rye and could not finish it. Very tasty. My partner had her usual Con Beef Hash with scrambled eggs and rye toast. The food will always be great here.
This place has been operating for a long while and for a very good reason. Each seating booth has a jukebox. I'm not sure if it works, but it adds to the decor. The place looks retro and homey and with a nostalgic smell. Got steak and 3 eggs and meat lover's dish. The steak is 8oz, and the home fries here are roughly chopped potatoes, which I liked a lot more than the typical deep-fried taters. The servers were friendly. Loved everything about my experience here. Can't wait to come back for more.
Came in for an early lunch on a Saturday. Was able to be seated right away, which was good considering there was a line up shortly after I arrived. Had the Meat Lovers Mix and it was very very good. Comes with three eggs and was able to get 2 over easy and 1 hard fried….great work chefs! Will definitely be coming back
This is an open kitchen breakfast restaurant on Yonge, it’s always busy. We came in Saturday at noon and parked at the back and go through a back door. Got seated immediately, and the waitress was very nice although she is busy all the time. Ordered a cheese burger with fries 4/5 b. A strawberry milkshake 3/5 c. Eggs with ham and sausage ,+salad 4/5 D coffee 4/5 Overall good experience, really enjoyed their old school style and live vibes here
I heard about the place a while ago as the OG breakfast place in the area and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is really old school and the design is preserved. The food held up to the expectations and the service was really nice. I definitely recommend visiting the place.
SOY / LEGUME Allergy Friendly: Yes G6PD Deficiency Friendly: Yes Baby Friendly: No Rustic and traditional diner serving made to order dishes using fresh ingredients. A big selection of breakfast items - which sometimes make it hard to choose from, Sp bring a friend to share items! Free refill of fresh coffee is a nice touch. Turkey bacon is tasty, as is corned beef (which is the fresh made style). Homefries is also great. NOTE: all the breads (all types) were not appropriate for my son. Good price as 10-15$ per person. However it gets very busy, so be prepared may not address all your questions in too much detail.
Stepping into Three Coins Restaurant in Richmond Hill feels like taking a trip back in time. As the oldest restaurant in the area, it has preserved its vintage charm, complete with old radios and an impressive collection of iconic pictures that adorn the walls, featuring legends like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The menu offers a variety of breakfast options to satisfy different palates. While the food is good, it falls slightly short of matching the remarkable atmosphere. The dishes are well-prepared and flavorful, but they could use some extra finesse to truly elevate the dining experience. That being said, the nostalgic ambiance of Three Coins Restaurant compensates for any minor shortcomings in the culinary department. Every corner tells a story, and it's a joy to immerse oneself in the vintage decor and absorb the rich history surrounding this establishment. The staff members are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. They make an effort to provide a pleasant dining experience and ensure that guests feel at home. If you're looking for more than just a meal, and are seeking a nostalgic journey through time, Three Coins Restaurant is a must-visit. While the food may not be exceptional, the unique ambiance and rich history make it a memorable destination.
Their coffee is great, food is great, services is great! It is my favourite restaurant to enjoy my weekend morning with my family!
If you like an old school diner, with tasty food, and friendly service, then you ll get exactly what you re looking for. It isn t pretty, but it s perfect.
Love this spot. Nice classic diner that does good breakfast. The potatoes were delicious
Food was delicious and good value due to its portion size. Food came with complete condiments. Would go back again.
Rude owner
Not bad for a greasy spoon
Been eating there for over 20 yrs. Great breakfast and staff.
This review is long overdue .... it s my wife and my favourite hangout .... the staff are so so nice, breakfasts are great, and the cook is super friendly .... there s no other diner that I m aware of that has that friendly family greasy spoon feel .... love this place!!!
This restaurant was perfect and are server manddy and vendi(im not shure about her name) were so nice and friendly
Our new Go-to brunch in the city!
Treated myself to 3 Coins open kitchen today. I cant recall the last time I was there but glad I was at this go to place for breakfast in York Region
Don t be turned off by the first glance when you walk in - it s old and run down and probably hasn t ever been renovated. But it s cute and cozy, cheap and cheerful and the breakfast is delicious. Our group of 7 each had some sort of eggs or toasted sandwich. I had three eggs, four large strips of bacon, delicious home fries, toast all for $10.99! They were very kind in that I accidentally ordered a caffeinated tea (I can t have caffeine) and even though I had prepared it and had a sip, they took it back and removed it from my bill. I gave this restaurant only a four star rating because I feel that they could spruce up the restaurant a bit without losing its old charm. Things like cleaning up or replacing trim and baseboards, tiles where needed etc. I hadn t been to this restaurant since I was a teenager and I don t believe it has changed since then. Service was excellent and several people working there all said goodbye and thank you when we left. Dietary restrictions: Waitress took into account my dairy intolerance and had my food carefully prepared.
Decent food. Great service. Old diner feel.
It opened in 1955.
Everything was great .. service was fast, food was delicious :) great staff.. coming back again for sure:)
Great place
Not impressed with the food
A great breakfast eatery serving a wide variety of menu options and great service. I love the vintage atmosphere. Highly recommended.
favourite go to breakfast, love the eggs benny even the takeout/uber quality is phenomenal definitely recommend
Best service, phenomenal food 100/10 recommend the eggs Benny!
Food was generously served. Traditional American breakfast at very reasonable price
Great food!!!!!
A staple in Richmond Hill! Parking: Behind the restaurant has a lot of parking and the signage is great. Food : 5/5 |
Im very picky when it comes to breakfast. But this place takes the cake. Excellent food. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere. The only thing I can say is I dont like. The hollandaise needs to be more of a sweet Hollandaise Aside from that, this is my go too for breakfast Parking: If you cant find street parking, theres a little lot in the back.Be careful to read the signs and park in the correct spot. And then theres a back door you can sneak in Kid-friendliness: Great family Diner
Excellent service great breakfast
Places like this are 1 in a million. The service was impeccable and food was amazing. I had a ham eggs benedict which is a staple I get at every breakfast shop. Its hands down the best Ive had in years. Parking: Theres a parking lot close by that offers free 2hr parking. There should also be street parking depending on time of day.
Amazing place to dine. They make such good food and the staff are very friendly.
Came in off the street moving our daughter into residence for school We ordered eggs Benny and club sandwich. The eggs were perfect Benny sauce was superb. The club chicken was so moist and soft and the bacon was cooked perfect. Thx you Maddie for your hospitality and everything.
They have the most affordable breakfast around. The fries and gravy are fantastic The waitres was fantastic and provided excellent service. Cute old diner. Definitely worth a visit! Food
Cant even finish a set of big breakfast by myself even though I am a big eater
I ve been coming here for years owner is great. The Eggs Benny is the best all the food we have ordered great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious Eggs Benedict. Busy on Saturday morning but not impossible to get a seat.
Great little old style diner. Excellent food. Fair prices.
It was a great opportunity being in 3 coin open kitchen, a nice old fashioned restaurant with lots pf good vibes and special customer services! Try here for breakfast with lots of options!
Great pancakes. Good coffee and improved service. Lots of charm.
Classic diner that s been around forever. They have fair prices with delicious fresh food and friendly service, which can be hard to find nowadays. Seating is somewhat limited and they get pretty busy weekend mornings.
This is a unique experience considering the area. I don t think you can find open kitchens in Richmond Hill easily. The food and services OK. The place is more old-school vibe.
The staff, food and specialty coffee(best).love the place,we waited a few minutes for a table, well worth it.
Since we moved to Richmond Hill, weve been coming to this lovely place! All staff are kind and accommodating, they dont leave you hanging with their menu. Theyd come to your table to make sure everything is okay. Also, this is our go-to breakfast restau around the area. Really like it here! Highly recommended~
Food was good (7/10), service was slow, we waited on coffee and our food for longer than expected. Restaurant has a good vibe and staff are friendly. We ordered smoked Montreal omelette, ham Benedict and big breakfast. Coffee was fresh and tastes good. Pancake with chocolate came with the order was fluffy and delicious. Overall food respective to price was good. Free street parking available.
One of the Greatest restaurants in Richmond Hill.
So busy but good food
You get the best old diner vibe & experience here! Tasty and comfy food in the heart of the Village of Richmond Hill
If youre in need of a greasy diner breakfast, this is the place! Classic diner/dive experience. One of the cutest spots that Richmond Hill has to offer. A real piece of history. Warning: it can get quite busy on the weekends and it can also get very hot inside. Parking: Parking is available in the back and there is a somewhat hidden back entrance that I feel a lot of people dont know about
Was alot better than during the pandemic Servers were great.Food was delicious
Amazing , been living here so so many years and I dont know we never came in. Im glad we did.
Feels like home food
Always great food and service!
Great little mom & pop greasy spoon. All the usual breakfast staples & other meals. Great for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Reasonable prices, good portions & friendly service.
Highly recommended, absolutely we will back
I love this restaurant I go here a lot with my dad and girlfriend a lot
Richmond Hill is lacking in good breakfast restaurants. Especially not corporately owned. Nice old school spot.
It is one of my favorite restaurants for eating breakfast. I enjoy the food. The staff are respectful, and the prices are reasonable.
1st visit in 20 years! Still have a great breakfast! Food
Great local place for breakfast, love how the pancakes are fluffy & perfectly cooked
Best omelettes I ve ever had great food
Frankly, I couldnt say they are the best brekkie place in town, especially with such price, there are plenty of choices around. However, for the nostalgic value and the atmosphere, it is worth to pay a visit. The hollandaise sauce taste kinda different, it was less sour than the usual ones, but still taste good. The omelette was pretty alright, it could be less cooked tho. Filling were plenty and fresh, but the home fries were slightly soggy.
Nice chick restaurant serving delicious breakfast with amazing service.
Small place with amazing service, vani was good, local place we like.
Other reviews are true, this place can give ihop and other country diners a run for their money Amazing omelettes, pancakes & sandwiches. We enjoyed everything served on plate thoroughly including home fries. Pancakes sizes are really large. See if you can get both seating for bonus. Place is quite unassuming and from outside looks nothing like what it feels inside
Been going to this local landmark since i was 5. George was an amazing cook and his son followed. Im going again this sunday and taking my family. Cant wait to see the place again its been a few years.
Not a fancy place but one of the best brunch places in the area! Recommended! GREAT Food and Service! Food
We needed to wait for 30 min for preparation of only two eggs and pancakes. Quality was not acceptable. The young waitress tried to be kind but they could not compensate bad service and quality. Ambience was vintage and attractive but I will not come back again!
Had their eggs Benedict, and was violently I ll for hours! Will not recommend and won t go back!
Great service and good food. My partner and I had brunch here. I ordered corned beef hash and it was good. Love the atmosphere and the diner decor.
Great Omelette. Everything looks authentic and warm. The staff are friendly.
We had a quick lunch here and experienced the nostalgia of a tiny low-end diner. The food was acceptable The service was not bad but I had hoped for better.
This was my first time at a legit brunch cafe and this place has set the standard pretty high! No more iHop for me lol Loved everything about this place! From the vintage vibes to the amazing and kind service. I would come back here if I am ever in the area again. Of course the food here was bombbbb!! Amazing price for fantastic portions thanks!! Update: Even after a year, this place still ranks my number 1
Simple, old , perfect for breakfast.. eggs cooked perfectly .. good price and portion size...a hole in the wall you dont want to tell anyone about.. Parking: Lots.of.parking on the street
Nostalgic Spot. Old school diner, good food! Wish it was more taken care of but other then that it s a great spot!!!
I used to come here almost every weekend with my dad in the 90s. I recently visited for the first time in years. Such a nostalgia trip. Prices were fair, food was good, staff friendly. Busy but not crowded. Just as I remember it. What a nice piece of history still present in Olde Richmond Hill! Parking: There is street parking, as well as a parking lot behind the restaurant. The enterance to the restaurant from the back parking lot isnt labelled, and so it is at it difficult to make your way in.
I wanted to say if youre looking for a fancy place here is not yours, but if you wanna delicious, warm lovely and original food here like the best one you can pick to go Its a family business with decent staff Make it like everyday brunch place
It was my second time visiting during busy brunch time on Sunday I love the big breakfast so much cuz I can have variety of food like toasted bread, pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, bacon and potatoes! I highly recommend. The other dish we ordered was plain omelette and I won t order it again. I ate it up though
Not what it used to be, I think its taken over by new owners.
This place used to be the best. Just went there today and had the worst dining experience. Food took way to long to receive and the place lacked the cleanliness it once had. The bread cake out moldy, blue and green all around the crust.
Friendly and prompt service - reasonable price. Kid-friendliness: No kid-specific menu items, but ordered a big breakfast for myself which comes with a good sized pancake and plenty of bacon, sausage, and ham for a little one.
Typical neighborhood (greasy) diner with good home cooking. I sat at the counter, waiting to pickup friend from Mckenzie Hospital. Service was fast, food good old-fashioned diner breakfast. One can tell the local community supports this place, so the other dishes are probably good too. I would return if Im back in the neighborhood!
I have visited this restaurant countless times, where one can relish the delectable cuisine while immersing oneself in the nostalgic atmosphere of the 1960s.
I had a delicious breakfast prepared with fresh ingredients. On top of a great food, I got the best server I had in a diner. She didn t rush to take my order and help me to customize my order. In the end, I had a healthy omelette and crispiest toasts ever! Food : 5/5
Best breakfast in north Toronto love the atmosphere hasn t changed in 70 years a real Richmond Hill treasure Parking: Free parking behind the building
Amazing service, amazing food
My favourite place
Talk about back to the future!!! Family owned business with service as their backbone! Always pleasant staff and happy to refill your coffee cup at every turn. Great place to chill during the week as you can read the daily paper. Worth the drive to the Hill!!!
The food and experience was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and personable. The food was prepared as ordered and very tasty. The 2 girls (wait staff) introduced themselves as they heard us speaking Spanish, that was nice. I was visiting from Kingston with my daughter. Will definitely be back. Great job!!
Had breakfast here and they provided us with lotsa fluffy pancakes, meat, and eggs! Very filling!!
User friendly, local, small business.
Ye old greasy spoon.
We love this place.
Delicious
such a lovely place for breakfast. good food. good vibe. good service. lovely people. Food : 5/5
Clean place and the chicken is pretty amazing. The fingers are breaded chicken breast thats got some very good flavor to it
We ate breakfast here 3 times in a row... oh my gosh it was amazing! They make breakfast right how it should be. Clean bathrooms, friendly efficient staff. Retro styled greasy spoon restaurant. Well done. Food : 5/5 |
My partner and I came here for breakfast; ordered 3 eggs over easy with tomato and rye toast, 1 pancake plus 3 scrambled eggs, bacon and gravy on the home fries. We cant say enough about how fantastic our breakfast was. Perfectly cooked and flavourful. And service at 3 Coins Open Kitchen is nothing short of exceptional. We will drive from Stouffville for breakfast moving forward.
An old style diner great food, friendly service always worth a visit.
I live on the west coast but make sure to come here whenever I m in Toronto.
Old style restaurant, nice food
Such a lovely place to have brunch!!
Great breakfast place. I love the omelets
The breakfast here is amazing. Not only is the atmosphere nostalgic, but so is the taste. The service is amazing, everyone is very friendly and prompt. Breakfast is made very fast and tastes just like you remember. I dine here often and will definitely continue to!
The waitress was very nice And the food was good, very reasonably priced, affordable. Love the 70s decor.
One of the best brunches I ve ever had.
Great food, excellent service, and good value for your money ! Parking: Parking at the rear of the building Food : 5/5 |
Great food for super reasonable prices. Staff are really great. I love coming here!
I love this place. Friendly staff and good food. I am a fan of their BLT.
Theyre pretty great as a local greasy spoon goes. Glad its close - chuggable coffee, and a pretty great eggs benny.
Fast & friendly service, cute vintage diner vibes (keep in mind, this means max sitting for a table is 4... but i saw them accomodate a table of 5 by pulling up a chair). Food was good and at very fair prices. Parking: Parking in the back may be limited on busy times, but street parking is available (not sure if its free)
Vintage vibes This place serves breakfast like nobodys business. Every time I go, the food is delicious, and the servers are all wonderful. Will I go again, yes, and if you havent been yet and appreciate old school diners, try it out. The food is worth it.
I like this place, happy it is still here after all these years. Big breakfast fan. Still good value. Fast service, food comes out hot. Lots of coffee.
Been a long time since our last visit, but did not disappoint. Great coffee, great breakfast and great, friendly service!!!
Great breakfast joint. Great price point. Food is plenty. No kids meal but you can do an al le carte for your kids and still cheap. Only 1 thing. If you are a tall person seating can be tight ( over 6 feet). We spent 55 bucks for 2 adults and 2 kids with juices, and tea.
Awesome food great prices , the best in town
One of my Favourite places in area, was Saturday tradition to come in mornings with family.Lots and lots of good memories. My favourite is Corned Beef Hash.
Fantastic greasy spoon open kitchen type setting with great staff, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. The chef really cares about the food he serves..
Reviewed this restaurant 5 years ago and wanted to edit. I went back many times since and food and service has been 5 stars great throwback diner with great food
Very good food, local, cheap.
I found a hair in my food and the owner started to yell and was extremely rude. DO NOT RECOMMEND worst experience and I ve seen them harass workers
Really love the eggs Benedict! Three coins is a staple for some good morning hangover breakfast food. Also very affordable for portion size.
Such a cute 50s style diner. My husband goes more frequently this was my first time. Food portion was good just enough. Little jukebox at each table so nice to see. Was busy when we went at 730am. But again still seats available. Nice couple who owns the place.
Best breakfast place hands down
Best Eggs Benedict and home fries I ve ever had
Delightful place for breakfast on an early weekend morning. Home cooked taste and feel and the service is very nice too. Kudos, they have maintained that amazing environment of a homey feeling diner
Great atmosphere, nice staff, delicious food.
Good service, great food & nice, old local diner.
Food and service was good.
I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. I ve never had a bad meal here, it always hits the spot!
Excellent brunch experience. Convenient location, delicious ham, bacon and potatoes.
Always great food, & great staff
Very decent breakfast and affordable prices
Mmmmmmmm very yami
Great taste
Classic food, fast, courteous, intuitive service.
Place needs major renovation, decrepit coditions, crazy long waiting time, poor service, 30 minutes waiting was no service
Great price and great tast taste! The big breakfast is truely big! Would come back again for brunch if im around the neighbourhood.
Need to reno.
If you are looking for a simple and clean breakfast, Three Coins is great! The food is tasty and basic. Its watching the two cooks behind the counter that keeps us coming back. Their work space is amazingly small, yet they cook and plate the dishes as if it was a symphony being performed. Everything is timed perfectly with little communication. Its well worth the show but be prepared to sit at the front counter to watch and to possibly have a line up behind you. The restaurant is a favorite amongst locals.
not bad, the eggs Benedict werent as runny as I would have liked but the food was still delicious and great value.
Good prices and yummy food. The pancake was good. The old decor is really fun
Love the eggs Benedict here but it seems the hollandaise sauce has changed. Please change it back because the OG hollandaise was the best!!
Had the best breakfast since days. Very nice staff! Thanks
I have dined in and had take out here Tried the daily menu options and breakfast Fantastic foood!!! Great milkshakes Good price!! Wish I could eat here everyday
Best pancakes Ive had at a breakfast place. No AC, had to clean my own table, no offer to refill coffee or water Terrible service brought down the star rating
It was great and reminded me of the 80s, the walls are so pretty. And the food is pretty good. Tho it took a bit of a long time cuz of the long line. But ethier way it was very pretty and nice.
Cute diner and great for breakfast. Fast food service, friendly staff and delicious food. Hard to find retro themed diners like this!
Nice greasy spoon breakfast / diner. Service was a bit slow though...Took about 20 minutes from ordering to being served my meal (corned beef hash). But it was tasty. Parking: Park on the street or go to one of the public parking lots nearby (free).
Pleasant family restaurant, good food , friendly staff. Very busy on Sundays, you have to wait on Sundays but it is worth it.
It was my first time eating a Canadian breakfast, and honestly I was not disappointed, I thought the potatoes were rlly good, in fact the best I tried in Canada so far. I would denfintly be going there again.
Eggs Benedict.. yom
Love this Mom and Pop bfast place and to support this long standing local business. Food excellent. Able to park right in front on Yonge
Cozy place and coffee house, delicious breakfast, reasonable price
Great experience for a local breakfast diner. The staff is friendly and the menu vast. The food comes in big portion and reminds you of home comfort breakfast food. Its no frills and hits the spot when youre looking for some breakfast eggs. Parking: Spacious parking lot in the bsck
Classic diner with a vintage style and 5 star service.
This is one of my favourite local breakfast places in Richmond Hill. If you havent tried it youre missing out
Great food, reasonable prices.
Love at the first sight Sitting area cozy and so 70s even the sign outside is perfect, plenty of parking at back. Let hope for many years of success for this shining star
It was okay for me. Food was okay, but i think they can do the sausages better
The sauce with egg benedict was really good I chose peameal but it would be better with other choices it was really heavy with fries. Still the home fries was really good as well! It was too busy for two waitresses but they were kind too.
Food all ways good & hot service fast and staff are
Excellent corned beef hash. A little cramped, a little warm, a real greasy spoon diner.
Probably THE BEST diner in Richmond Hill, everybody are so friendly and nice, food never disappoints. Super budget friendly and great portions for value.
Great diner experience. Sit at the counter & watch them cook. Parking: Free parking lots nearby. Street parking limited. Wheelchair accessibility: Barely. Its an old restaurant. Booths & stools at the counter.
Visited for breakfast in the morning. The food portions are more then big enough, the big breakfast is definitely a good amount of food the pancake is a full sized pancake with the meal great value. Definitely a almost hidden spot to get some great home style food at a great price, small ma and pop style The staff are very friendly. Returning again sometime forsure in future.
Best breakfast restaurant in Richmond Hill. Friendly staff and more than decent prices. I highly recommend!
Ive been going to 3 Coins for many years, and Ive never been disappointed!
If it werent for the pricing I would have ranked it lower. I dont see how this place has so many 5 star ratings, the food is quite mediocre.
Please fix google time if you will be closed at 6am on a weekday. That happened one time, not impressed.
