Little hidden gem in Richmond Hill. The food was very good! Had the cantonese chow mein and the seafood and garlic fried rice. Both were exceptional!!! The place is quite empty though, wished there will be more patrons as the food is great! The only comment is they need to fix the lighting fixture! It keeps blinking on and off!

Really good food but the portions were just wow. $16.45+tax for 10 cubes of sweet and sour chicken? We paid $70+tax and tip and everyone left hungry. The difference in food portions since the last time (earlier this year) we came and today was ridiculous. I wont come back here.

This was my second time coming, because my first experience was good. I cannot stress how bad this experience was- small portions, tasteless. We left equally as hungry as we were before. The chicken and brocoli fried noodles was so bland. Like boiled chicken. Extremely dissatisfied with coming here and will never be back. The milk tea was 90% ice.

Tried this restaurant the first time with my husband today and the food was quite good and fresh. We ordered stir-fried beef river, braised tofu and xidotu. The portion of Dry Fried Beef River was a bit small but very tasty.

Food shrinkflation on full display at this location. Portion sizes have shrank significantly while prices are still the same, if not 20% higher over the past 12 months.

We enjoyed our meals for an early dinner. All the menu items are reasonably priced. The older male server was quiet but kept busy, thoroughly cleaning down the tables and mopping the floors. We ll definitely come back when we re in the area!

Just an overall solid spot. Looking back we didnt actually order any congee items, but our variety of dishes were all really tasty. The service was mostly good and the food came really quickly. The portions were decent for the price and I was happy with the value I got here.

Taste is good, service is good, price is good. My son always orders the ma po tofu. He loves it.

Not the best but it s ok for the area, prices on the higher side for the quality. Sliced fish congee was fresh. Fried dough isn t crispy. Drinks: hard pass; milk tea and soy milk weren t strong also the waiter had a black face early in the morning. Maybe he didn t wake up well. Didn t want to show me receipt as if hiding something.

Snack prices are a good deal! I ordered western toast, salt and pepper chicken wings, fish skin dumplings, Kyoto steak which was delicious, and shrimp and scallop porridge. Overall it tastes good

I ate here many years ago before it was called this place. I ordered Jidi porridge, imperial concubine chicken, rice rolls, curry beef, etc. Jidi porridge contains pork, tender pork liver and crispy pork kidney. It is large in quantity, delicious and cheap for only 7 dollars for a large bowl. The imperial concubine chicken is the best Cantonese chicken I have eaten in Toronto. The chicken body is ice-cold and fragrant with ginger velvet. What is rare is that you can actually see the layer of jelly in the middle of the chicken skin! Delicious food on earth! The coffee is freshly roasted and very spicy and delicious. The rice rolls are better than all the well-known morning tea shops, the skin is soft and elastic, and it is better than the old street rice rolls. The only ordinary ones are salt and pepper, which is a foreigners method of coating fried fish with flour. In fact, it tastes pretty good. To sum up, every dish is of a high standard, far superior to Cantonese restaurants such as Queen and Emperor s Famous Porridge. Thanks to this Cantonese chef in Toronto for imparting his cooking skills.

The only congee restaurant that we know of in Richmond Hill that is open for business at 9am on a Sunday - So convenient for our schedule! Food was made fresh to order. Great quality and very reasonable prices. HK-style tea was also made fresh (not sitting in a large warming tank like you see in some other restaurants). They also have dinner items. Will definitely come back here.

Food is better than it looked. Not overly salty but portions arent as much as other places. Satisfied with flavour of food but service is kind of like theyre doing you a favour. Notta thank you or would you like a receipt? Typical I guess.

A little overpriced, ordered chicken and it tasted really plain. Glad to have a place for chinese food in this area though.

Loving places like this that give better prices for equally (if not more delicious) dishes as other places. Especially a fan when Im not feeling well, and I am in need of some congee -[HONG KONG STYLE CURRY FISH BALLS] $5.50 Spheres of fish paste that have been cooking in a curry sauce Not spicy at all but super flavorful Give it a try as its a staple in Hong Kong! (and its very tasty) -[FRESH RICE NOODLE ROLL W/DUCK MEAT] $6.50 Typically rice noodle rolls can lack flavor without soy sauce but because of how flavorful this duck meat is, I found I didnt even want soy sauce on it A decent amount of duck meat in each piece! Also, I have never come across this dish at other places so definitely unique! Highly recommend this too -[FRESH OYSTER CONGEE] $8.95 (not pictured) Plenty of large oysters in the congee so you get your bang for your buck Oysters do indeed taste fresh! Another unique menu item I havent come across elsewhere but I find myself ordering this and the dishes above time and time again They have a very convenient online ordering system!

Very respectable restaurant. Not a destination Id necessarily travel to or crave. But if I want Chinese food for a good price and Im nearby, Id have no reason not to head here!

Hard to find a good congee place that opens early for breakfast. Glad we found this place! Had C10 and C8 congee which were flavourful and full of ingredients. One bowl large enough for one hungry person. Classic dough sticker rice noodle roll (L7) was excellent with a crunchy doughnut wrapped with a thin rice roll which takes some skill to make. Spacious interior and good service. Will definitely return to try their lunch and dinner. Parking: Conveniently located in a large plaza with lots of parking.

Good food, we went at a weird time so we were the only table. The service was what was expected and the food was delicious.

Food is normal, but the server has a very very bad, impolite attitude, the worst in Richmond Hill so far!! I was just getting a takeout and was dealing with him for less than 2 mins. Never go back again.

The price is great and congee was good with ingredients cooked just right. The milk tea was just so-so, because I like more evaporated milk in the tea for a more full bodied flavour. The rice noodle roll was also tasty.

The workers are very nice and helpful here; food had really good taste, comparable to other good Chinese restaurants. There s a stigma about how Asian servers don t check up on you during your meal but if you go here they really do make you feel taken care of. Would come back to have another dinner when I m in the area.

Ok, I have finally revisited this place and satisfied with the food and HK speed service level. The server is polite and attentive. The food is above expectation and definitely can fulfill your crave for a taste of HK. I Will definitely recommend to my family and friends for a stop by after shopping at Costco!

The porridge is so soft

We visit on weekday evenings, the food for dinner is good, the environment is quiet, and only half of the space is used for diners. During our stay, including us, there were only 3 groups of diners, but there was only one server, so the wait time for food was a little longer, and the menu had less choices.

Ordered 8 dishes for a family of 8. 5 people got diarrhea the night of. Would not go again.

My experience at this place was terrible. Upon arrival, I noticed that the establishment was clean. However, during my lunch, the person in charge of the place thought it was a good idea to mop the floors with heavily scented cleaning products. To make matters worse, he positioned his mop less than 20 centimeters away from my table. This ruined my meal, and I was unable to continue eating. When I brought this to his attention, he didnt apologize or attempt to rectify the situation, but instead laughed it off. I have never encountered a waiter who was so detached from the restaurants service experience.

Good if you like carb meals (noodles, congee) but better options elsewhere if youre looking for meat and veggie entree dishes to go with rice.

Went there on a not so busy day after seeing some of the reviews. The portions where great for what you would otherwise get downtown toronto, quick and fast service, relaxed environment, and moderate prices. Would recommend others to try it out.

We ordered fried rice noodle with beef, seafood chow mein, congee, wonton and we were not impressed. Service was slow and food quality were below average comparing with other Chinese restaurants in Markham and Richmond Hill. We probably wont going back unless they make noticeable improvement.

Good food. I had a dinner there with my family on Friday night before this long weekend. This is a local Chinese restaurant in Richmond Hill that I think is the best compare to some other I had tried. Yes, real Chinese/ Cantonese food. Recommended Dishes: 1. Braised To-fu & Vegetable - crispy tofu in soya/ oyster sauce. 2. Sweet & Sour Chicken w/ Pineapple - the chicken meats with batter deep fried and can remain crispy even with the sweet & sour sauce. Taste good! 3. Minced Pork w/ Eggplant -slightly spicy. Taste good compared to other that I had tried.

A nice small congee Hong Kong style cafe restaurant, tasty congee, and nice wok-hei with the fried rice noodles, menu has all the favourite Hong Kong & Cantonese tastes, great selection of rice & noodles dishes, service is fast & efficient.

Delicious food! We ordered chili chicken with fried noodles. Taste was great and the price was reasonable. The service was exceptional as the owners were very patient and attended to us. We came here a couple of times before COVID restrictions and the restaurant was very tidy and clean.

This place was wonderful. Pretty new. They staff works hard. The food is really good. We ve eaten most of the congees. The donut is crispy and perfect. The other dishes are delicious too. Kid friendly.

Surprisingly good quality food here. Been here twice: once for takeout and once for dine-in. Both times service was lacking unfortunately which is why the three stars.

Theres some pretty decent Chinese food at affordable prices here. The chefs definitely know what theyre doing; my only real complaint is that the tables are quite dirty. The servers are nice, the interiors are modest, and thats about it; theres not much to highlight here. Id visit if Im in the area and wanted some HK-style food.

I don t usually leave a google reivew but I had to for this one. Ordered about 8 dishes for takeouts to treat guests at my place. Every dish was very satisfying and such a great value for the price. It was my first time ordering ginger chicken, beef with broccoli and eggplant with pork and they were truly the best. (My favorite pick is ginger chicken!!) Will definitely order again when we have friends coming over next week :)

We just moved to the area and this our new go to restaurant for a quick delicious lunch or dinner. It has all the common chinese food you would crave for in a delicious meal. The kids also love the food. Dining is also nice as it is clear and service is friendly!

Salmon in the Congee was like rubber, Congee bread was doughy, Chow mein had too much pepper added. Service was good.

I found this place at random, wanted to explore new breakfast restaurant. i was amazed by this place. So im here 1-2 times a week now. Food is great i love the congee and other breakfast dishes, price is ok too. Compare to the one at King Square, this is far more better, in taste, price, and size. However, for dinner, although it taste great, the dish can be expensive since they dont do combos. I gave 4 instead of 5 is becuz everytime i come here i need to ask to change the utensil becuz its dirty, else it would be a 5.

Pretty good place for a quick meal some of the dishes like Fried Rice/Congee can get quite salty. The servers could have been a touch more friendlier but they got their job done no problem at all.

The congee is freshly made so it s hot and not too salty. Very tasty. Pricing is fair for breakfast food. We tried the fried noodles but was slightly too salty.

I really like this place. Their stir fry dishes are excellent, and other famous Cantonese dishes are really tasty and definitely has wok-hay . Given their proximity to our place, we will definitely frequently visit this place and adopt it as our new goto convenient cafeteria

Tried this restaurant, wanted to go to a different Chinese restaurant than my usual joint. I ordered the beef pan fried noodles and chilli chicken. The noodle dish was very good it had that breath of the wok flavour. Ive only had that type of quality at an Asian night market, not even the place I usually go to is that good. The chilli chicken was good chunks of chicken and had a savoury sauce but could be more spicy. The price is also good compared to other restaurants Ive been to they charge 14 bucks for the noodle dish but others are charging 16-17 bucks. You would think with a bit lower prices they would skimp on the portions, but no I got a huge amount of noodles and chilli chicken. I think I found a gem and my new go to for Chinese food.

Walked by on Friday and saw it opened. Apparently it opened last week. Excited to try a rare Chinese congee style restaurant north of Major Mackenzie. Restaurant was clean and followed covid protocols. The server, I assume is the boss, was polite and attentive. We ordered a shredded pork and preserved egg congee, a rice noodle roll, and a satay beef fried rice noodle. The congee was smooth and flavourful, but could use more ingredients. The rice noodle roll was pretty good, just a little on the soft side. The rice noodle was not too oily, tasted great, and will definitely order again. I will definitely come back and try some of the other menu items.

Food was mediocre, one dish was good, others just ok. Atmosphere was very dated with pictures of 1990 Porsches on the wall?? I don t know what they had to do with the Chinese restaurant. Service was good. Price was more than it should of been for what we received.

I came by early in the day with my wife and a friend, we were the only customers and still had to ask to be have our orders taken. The food did approve promptly. For my wife the chicken wasnt fresh and the soup base for her noodles had no flavor. For myself I had order noodles as well, the texture of the noodle was not bouncy, and had the soapy flavor, and also the soup lack flavor. My friend didnt like her order either and the French toast we ordered for dessert was still just white bread on the inside, Ive never had french toast like this before.

Found this place when I was craving for some congee. We came on a early weekday morning and were seated right away. It is a very traditional Hong- Kong-style restaurant. To our surprise, the congee was extremly well-done and all ingridients were fresh and tasteful. We will come back when we crave for more authentic congee.

Service was good, the guy who handed me the food was nice and cheerful however food was bad. The batter was super thick to cosmetic the size where the actual meat itself was about 10-20% of each. Similar to the rice rolls, the skin was so thick to the point reminding me the old school dim sum or the lower class dim sum nowadays. Will I return for a second chance? Probably not as therere many good ones in RH and Markham.

If you offer an opening discount, 10% off, or give away some snacks, that would be 100% more perfect. 2. Some billboards can be added around the mall to let more people know about it.

Finally, a Hong Kong Style Chinese Family Restaurant in Richmond Hill North with congee, rice noodles, stir fried noodles & rice, Asian dishes, specialty drinks and many more. A good variety of food, excellent service. Will definitely come again and recommend to everybody. Looking forward for their soft opening and have their new sign hanging up there.

I saw their sign by the street and couldn t find this place for a month or two. As of yesterday, the big sign still says Garlic Onion for anyone looking for this place. One of the waiters said they were open during COVID, but I guess they just rebranded? Food wise, they re portioned just right. Congee per person, Cheung fun, and a rice dish was perfect for 2 hungry people. Rice was pretty bland tasting; shrimp fried rice had 4 pcs of shrimp and not much other ingredients. The beef congee tasted good, but very tiny pieces of meat, almost shredded. The duck Cheung fun was really delicious, and would be a re-order for sure. Overall will come again and give it another chance, but just as likely to go to another place for better value.

Went to try out Congee House for the first time and came out genuinely impressed. The congee price was fair and both the congee and chow mein was flavorful. It was a great meal and Im looking forward to trying other options! I was also very happy with the service. Servers were polite and attentive.

Not what you want to find in your food...

Expected more from a restaurant that is called Congee House and was a bit disappointed about their congee. It was not terrible but could be better if there was more toppings and more options for congee. Portion size was also on the small side. Texture of rice roll was not bad, but the dipping sauces were clearly watered down. I agree with another reviews that this might just be garlic onion rebranded. For some reason, we just dont seem to feel the vibes that you usually get from a new business. I was excited to see a new restaurant in our area but dont think I will come back. There are many other better options out there.

Food and price both are good

Did a takeout and they mixed up 2 orders, had to drive back to get the right food. Wasn t busy it was confusion. The food was a 3.5 however service was a 2, so gave them a 3.

Old style food, I love the taste, and the price is cheap, if you have time need go to try it.

Good for quick lunch

This was my first time although its just across the plaza from my workplace. They welcome you with some tea. We ordered from their lunch specials- one was schezwan chicken with rice and mine was creamy chicken soup. Lest had I known the portion would be so huge. See the bowl like literally I was not able to complete it had to pack it. Overall service is quick food is food and it says halal too.

Congee was flavourful and reasonably priced. Stir-fried satay beef rice noodles was not bad ($12.95). Steamed shrimp filled rice roll (Cheung fun) was pretty good. Fish paste wrapped dumplings (yu pey gow) broth tasted like water with dark soya sauce! Service was friendly.

A not so busy congee eatery, the food is actually great for the price. I ordered the shredded pork and gold preserved egg and congee with a side of sweet cruller. The congee was very flavorful and the cruller was deep fried really well. Highly recommend giving this place a shot for quick, homey, Chinese food.
