350 Hwy 7 #101, Richmond Hill, ON L4B 3N2, Canada
Refined Cantonese fare, dim sum & a robust wine list on offer in this contemporary Chinese eatery.
My Wonderful Kitchen isa great spot for authentic dim sum! The service is fast, and the seating options—whether in a booth or a private room—are spacious and comfortable. All S, M, and L dishes are the same price before 11 AM, making it a fantastic deal. We tried a variety of dishes and loved every single one! If you’re looking for a great dim sum experience with excellent value and a cozy atmosphere, My Wonderful Kitchen is a great choice!
This restaurant is a health hazard .... found a cockroach cooked in the food. It's one thing to have roaches running around. But clearly the infestation has spread to the point that the roaches are roaming freely into the food is being prepared. Additionally for the record the restaurant is not in compliance with york region and we noticed no sign. Pictures attached.
I’ve visited this place a few times and enjoyed the nice environment—it’s a great spot for authentic Dim Sum. The fun and fancy dessert options also stand out. However, I’ve noticed the taste of the food isn’t always consistent—it seems to depend on the chef’s mood at times! 😄😄 On the bright side, the table settings and space are spacious and comfortable. Unlike some other traditional dim places.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! A kitchen that dishes out wonderful food, aptly named for doing so. My glutinous appetite couldn't resist ordering from both their dim sum and dinner menu, with absolutely no regrets from either. The peking duck and tenderloin were my favourites of the day. Sliced expertly for a beautiful layer of skin, fat and juicy meat that basically melts in your mouth, bursting with umami juices. The beef tenderloin needs no introduction for its tenderness, stir fried with mushrooms that amplify the umaminess of the beef, along with vegetables that have been quickly kissed by the heat to retain a refreshing crisp. All that is brought together with a black pepper garlic sauce. Naturally, a celebration isn't complete with a whole lobster cooked in a fragrant ginger scallion sauce in a blazing hot wok, for a snappy and crisp texture and a subtly sweet taste that I love.
Food was good, above average. Need to do a better job for the Sweet and Sour pork (some pieces are too hard) and Snow Pea leaves (very limited crab meat in the sauce)
Dim sum were nice, i especially like the pig trotters & ginger vinegar, the taste absorbed really well and meat portion was good too, not like other restaurants serving mostly ginger and bones. lobster noodles wasn’t the taste that i expected so i wouldn’t recommend this. Make sure you arrive not too late to line up waiting for a table (prepare for everyone being told 20 mins waiting time but end up it was an hour) and for their recommended items like Baked BBQ Pork Bun Pastry and Salty Egg Yolk Bun, they were all sold out in the afternoon. (quite a lot of items are unavailable on menu too It was pretty short staffed, they missed order some of food from menu, and they didn’t even tell when the items were sold out when putting down the order sheet on our table. dim sum is nice but there’s defo room for improvement on service level
Good food, although it is on the pricier side, it is a more upscale restaurant. Relatively good service, and some food items are top quality (such as BBQ pork). The door to the restaurant is on the rear side of the building!
Our first dish of the night was a traditional roasted baby pig. Right away we noticed the pork tasted off-flavour. The skin was crispy BUT it had that microwaved pork stench to it. Honestly, one of the worst roast baby pig I’ve had in many years. We did complain about it immediately. But they didn’t do much about it. We had other dishes throughout the night (a ten course meal) for a 20ppl birthday party. But the only thing I remember is, the pork tasting bad. I guess the other dishes were ok, with a passing grade. 2 stars for atmosphere, cuz if you were to come here with a small group of 4-6, you would most likely be seated in a section where getting in and out of the half-moon shaped tables will be very inconvenient which makes this place not convenient for wheelchairs. Dinner in our case was $100/person
My favorite dim sum restaurant
The banquet is first class.
We had a group of 10. And we were lucky to get a bug table in the private rooms in the back. Our server was outstanding: very attentive, energetic and engaging. I cant give full stars because they dont have juice available for kids and we didnt feel the food value was there. We are generally happy with the food quality here.
Dinner dishes were precooked so served as warm. Will never go back :(
Restaurant very busy, food is worth the wait and parking is busy as well Parking: Whole area busy during lunch period. You can find parking eventually. Food : 5/5 |
good price for yummy food. The place is a little noisy but its like most Chinese restaurants
Food
We were there at 3:30pm but at 5:50pm they asked us to pay and leave because we are fully booked for tonight s dinner party starting at 6:00pm . Come on, you would have told us beforehand. We even haven t finished our food. I was so upset and wanted to talk to the manager about this unfair situation but my friends talked me into letting that go. I called the restaurant the next day about this. The manager did say sorry but he said he is not that manager on duty yesterday. He didn t offer anything to fix this. I feel so bad about this. Imagine that you are hoping to have a nice Saturday dinner at a so called high end restaurant and ended up a rush dinner and very rude service to say the least. I can almost say that this is humiliating. FYI: We did pay and left at 5:58pm.
Food is okay, service is good, environment is WAY TOO NOISY AND CROWDED. I dont recommend
We ordered the price fixed menu with 6 dishes, lobster and sliced duck stood out, fish was tasty. Overall service was prompt and decent.
Its terrible, raw, not cooked, served directly. - The first Michelin bag, the dough inside the bag is not yet cooked, sticky and bitter in the mouth. - Guinea fowl, which is far worse than the packaged snacks bought in supermarkets. I appreciate that he insists on making it himself instead of buying it and heating it. But the seasoning is really scary. The salty meat and white glutinous rice are obviously not seasoned with light and dark soy oyster sauce, and there are no mushrooms or shrimps. Its just glutinous rice wrapped in bacon bits. No lotus leaf scent. - Soup dumplings, raw! It was undercooked. It was obviously because it was steamed directly before being defrosted in the refrigerator. The heat was not enough to steam it thoroughly. The shrimp was raw, translucent and gelatinous, with a sashimi-like texture. The seasoning is very poor, I dont know what the taste is, the chicken soup and chicken powder are not used, it is just very boring and salty. - Chives and shrimp intestines, the taste is average, the shrimp has no taste and zero seasoning. But I appreciate that chives are used instead of bean sprouts to put into rice rolls. - Black truffle mushrooms on a vegetarian roll, the taste is average, but not lost. In the end, I canceled my order for the soup dumplings. Pros: The local environment, atmosphere, and chairs are pretty good. Same price for large, medium and small before 11am.
It s been a long time since I ve had tea at Michelin Restaurant, which feels like a long absence. Going out for morning tea again... Dim sum: The variety is average [I found that the product is different from other dim sum restaurants]. After clicking on several items to try the food: After eating, the taste is average [I feel that my taste buds are normal and I don t feel like I will come back again next time]. Lunch special dish: Cage garlic Vancouver crab fried rice (the rice is stir-fried)
Dim sum lunch is good, service is good and price is ok. No complain
The food is ok but over pricy! The price/ amount of food I eat here I believe I can get way more at other seafood restaurants! Don t come here, it is a scam!
Mango Mochi Dessert is a must try, delicious and great presentation! Service was good and food arrived fast!
Great food, amazing service: Connie and May M goy Food
The dim sum is delicious, and the staffs service is very good, attentive and friendly. I will definitely come back if I have the opportunity.
I went for morning tea today and ordered a dish of vegetarian rice rolls. It was sour. I felt extremely nauseous after taking one bite. Because I had just drank a few sips of tea before eating anything else. After taking the first bite of something so rancid, I felt like I was going to vomit. After informing them, they took it away and said it was canceled for me. I thought it looked like the minister came over and said lightly that he was sorry to cancel the rice rolls. He didn t say anything. It made people very uncomfortable. It was like giving spoiled food to the guests. As usual, I won t go there again!
Awesome food, the red wine beef was excellent. Peking duck comes with blueberry for a delightful chinese/north america fusion. Dietary restrictions: Great place for peanut-free
Good dim sum spot. They ve invested in some nice tea cups and plates. A small thing but it makes it unique . Food is good and reasonably priced. Decor is well done. . Will be back!
The worst restaurant experience ever. I would give them zero star if google review has this option. Waiting for a table for over 2 hours and another half an hour for waiting the food. Terrible experience, I wouldn t recommend anyone who want to come here to eat. This is also my first and last time eating here.
phoned in order at 10:30am, to pick up at 12pm. arrived at 12pm, order wasnt ready and we waited another 30mins. Ordered a bittermelon dish along with 10 other dim sums. The dim sum was fine, but when we took the bitter melon out of the bag it was half empty..........
it was a good dim sum with the basics. Id come again. Come for the early bird special. Decent value.
Came here for dinner! The entrees were amazing. Absolutely loved the presentation of the dishes!
Clean and simple dim sum
Recently, the quality of morning tea in this store has dropped significantly. Not only has the quantity become smaller, but the price has also risen. The tofu curd that I often order is made the same as soy milk. Are you ready to close? Not recommended, you can try elsewhere.
The fish skin and sweet potatoes dish was mediocre. The fish skin was crispy and salty, but the dish was overall too greasy. The dough around the sweet potatoes was dense and too cakey. I brought back the leftovers but ended up throwing them away. The beef and noodles stir fry was just okay. Nothing special and it was expensive (22$) Kid-friendliness: High chairs available
Tooo loud restaurant and we didn t order a food as giving wrong order as food disappointed the waiters really bad!!
Each dish has its own taste and the portion is not small
Food was really good i loved all dim sum dished we ordered. Always busy, so be prepared to wait minimum 30 mins. Service is not so great, it feels like you are at the hectic market, so loud since the ceiling is low I guess. But what can I say, I am coming back as my regular dimsum place since food was soooooo gooooood
The dim sum was delicious and I had a great time here. I found the food was a nice portion, we order about 9/10 for 5 ppl. A reasonable amount and price. It was very packed when we were heading out so go early if you can.
The receptionist is unbelivably rude. If she has any sorts of mental disorder, please send her home and find someone who can treat customers with basic respect and courtesy.
The food is good, especially the squid tentacles, but the service attitude of the manager of the restaurant is very poor. When he came to collect the snack paper, he grabbed it with one hand and ordered nothing without any reply. When the meal was almost finished, we discovered that he had missed the order. When I was paying the bill, a clerk said he wanted to pay the bill, so he lowered the bill. Since I paid with a credit card, I put the credit card on the table. About 15 minutes later, the minister came over with his card, took a photo of the credit card, dropped the card and credit card on the counter, said something and walked away. After I clicked on the confirmation button and the tips, I didnt come back until about 10 minutes later. He didnt say a word when he came back. He just took his card and put down the receipt and left. At that time, I thought, why should I be angry when I have to pay for food? !
Tried dimsum a week ago, extremely disappointed. This used to be my goto place for nice Chinese food. Also, very bad service, the lady head waitress at the reception set the tone.
The restaurant is a hit or miss sometimes. Ive been here many times throughout the years and the quality of food and service is always changing. On average though, the food is good and not too oily or bloating for Chinese food.
Food is great, reasonable prices for dinner. Only complain in that they squeeze too much tables in the dining room. Last time we were there, one guest had to stand up 2 times to let kitchen cart to pass through - this is completely wrong.
Worth visit of some special dim-sum. Delicious
Noisy, authentic chinese food. Good prompt service Parking: Entrance to restaurant is at the back of plaza Food : 5/5 |
Food is good and table settings are spacious
Ive been to this location a few times in the past, for lunch, dinner as well as dimsum. For most occasions it delivers. This latest visit was for dinner, the special combo for 10 people at $499. The salted egg yolk fried lobster with pumpkin stood out, with plenty yolk flavor. The pumpkin balls were dipped in yolk as well, so flavorful if you like this style of preparation. However this was a meal for 10 people but there werent enough pumpkin pieces for everyone. Overall the food was great, with relatively larger portions, which we had boxed for take home afterwards. They also steamed the traditional Chinese birthday buns, in an elaborate display with dry ice which was a very pleasant surprise. I hope they can keep up with making consistent good tasting dishes so I can look forward to returning every time.
The tableware has become more beautiful recently, and the boss is very attentive
The set menu is reasonably priced, the food is plentiful, and the taste is average. The lobster was fried too much, the mandarin duck rice was a little salty, and the cabbage sum was a bit old, which tests the strength of your teeth.
I went here yesterday for the first time and was completely blown away with the quality of their food and service. Truly outstanding, also the atmosphere was very nice. I will definitely be coming back.
The front desk staffs were ignoring people and the washroom was very dirty but no one clean it up. They barely speak English or Mandarin, only Cantonese
Every so often my family orders dim sum takeout from here on sundays because they have a pickup only special where every dim sum (S, M, L) are all $5.38. So to capitalize on this deal we usually order all L priced items. Strictly from a dim sum POV, this place is a 4 star rating. The snow mountain topping bbq pork buns are actually really good and the siu mais are massive. The rice rolls do fall a lil short because sometimes the rice crepes are WAYYYY TOO THICK. Same with the shrimp dumplings. The rice wrapper is sometimes way too thick. My family has been here for dinner once and it wasnt a good experience (the curry crab was just overly salty and its hard to compete when Saigon Star is right across the road) but I will give this place a 4 star rating because Im judging them by their dim sum which is above avg in quality and the pickup special deal is an underrated secret!
Dim Sum is good
Food is average but service is good
This place is permanently banned. Dim sum is OK. BUT, staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. Very disappointed especially we are bringing our beloved family here. No next time.
A bit of pricy but quality is there. Very busy better reserve first
20240712 Update: The signature Baked BBQ Pork Bun is a lot improved with bigger size, moist inside and in a perfect round dome shape. The Dumpling in Soup is now served in a small pasta plate. Every other dim sum are keeping its quality and some are improved. 2022: We are the first time to here for a family dim sum morning. It takes few minutes to find the entrance walking from parking lot. We ordered a lot of dim sum with shrimp and pork this morning. The Baked BBQ Pork Bun Pastry is soft moist inside, the outside is not too crispy and sweet in taste. The Steamed Seafood Dumpling in Soup is a good one with a small cute abalone inside. The Steamed Shrimp Dumpling is giant in size and the skin is not too thin with huge shrimp stuffing. The Steamed Fish Head with Chinese Herbal is full of favour and black bean aroma. The Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling with Salad Dressing are irregular in shape but tasty. The exciting part of the Deep Fried Shrimp & Pork Spring Roll is its eatable cripsy shell, my daughter loves it. The Steamed Rice Rolls with Fried Dough is very crispy inside and nailed it with bonito flakes on top. It comes with hoisin sauce, sesame sauce and soy sauce. The soy sauce in that dedicated tiny bottle is hot! We are enjoyed here for yum cha this morning.
Seems to be closed. There was a realtor lock on the door and the restaurant was dark. No other way to get in.
dim sum
The waiter is a bit harsh but the food is quite delicious
Quick preparing my takeout.
Mediocre experience. So so food. We had dim sum here for lunch one day. Manager tried to recommed more expensive dishes. Didnt feel comfortable when we wanted to have dimsum at that time.
Very good dim sum, early bird special $5.38. M-F order before 11am.
It s so popular, there s always a queue, and the service is great!
It s really delicious! ! ! It is indeed a well-established restaurant. My friend brought us here. The five of us were very satisfied with the meal and the service was also enthusiastic! There are many people here at 6pm on midweek. Sliced duck and fish skin are super delicious! !
Experienced exactly as its name!
The price is affordable and suitable for the whole family.
The food is really good. The was pieces of ceramic shards in the peking duck wrap which I assume came from a broken plate which made that dish less than enjoyable. The restaurant apologized profusely and comped the entire meal which we appreciated. The rest of the dinner and service was great
Had a great experience at this local Richmond Hill spot. Everything came out fresh and tasty. Pro tip: go before 11 during the week and all dishes are $5.35 regardless of the size as long as you bring cash Food : 4/5
Good food. Reasonable price.
The staff here are so friendly and service is always quick! I especially enjoy the Peking duck, and sweet and sour pork, and if I get here and they still have their mango mochi then that just makes my visit!
Great
We ordered online and the price was $68. When I went in to pay, they said that $68 was the cash price and for card, its $82. Very deceptive pricing...
On May 14th Two female and one male waiters in this restaurant were very rude. Hope the owner of this restaurant can train them. It seems they are only warm to familiar customers but rude to unfamiliar customers.
The dim sums are large and taste good, but the service is understaffed Six people, one hundred and two mosquitoes, count as food Next time, try the special offer period before 11 a.m. Recommended shredded chicken, shrimp intestines, chicken feet, snow mountain buns Shrimp dumplings and siomai are average
Had dinner here the other night and it s definitely a place with a lot of returning customers. I d say this place is pretty standard when it comes to Chinese restaurant. Service and atmosphere are typical. The food was ok, but for the price, it was pretty mediocre. They offer a lot of sets for 4 to upwards to 10 and more people. Their a la carte menu is pretty small so you are kind of feel like you have to order the sets. Some of the prices are pretty pricey for the value of the food. With the set we got, the dish that ended up being the smallest portion (beef and snap peas) was the best, followed by the Peking Duck (can someone also tell me why they put blueberries as a condiment for the Peking Duck? Another place I went to had grapes. Is it to clean the pallet ?) All in all, I might come back for dim sum but I think I ll pass on dinner.
We went on a Monday at 1:30 and there was a wait for a table. They had majority of their dim sum dishes despite being past peak lunch time. Pricing is reasonable and well worth it for the quality of food. Service could be better. We had to continuously ask different servers for the same item, like water and napkins. Nothing extraordinary, however a solid weekend dim sum spot.
There are many varieties, the taste is good, and the price is not expensive.
The service is horrible. We called in to book the appointment and they said don t allow the appointment just walk in. But when we walk in they just let someone skip the line and said they have reservation. Will never come again!
Menu changed, 4-6 set dinner is only enough for 4 elders. So I will put My wonderful kitchen on my black list.
Im a regular here. Dimsum always fresh and your portions are big! Def a try at My Wonderful Kitchen!
We went early and plenty of tables. Friendly staff and service. The food was okay, not outstanding but decent.
The reception was incredibly stupid. Told us 15 mins waiting time. The loser actually made us wait for 1 hour. Also, the waiters and waitresses were rude for no reason. Food is okay, average.
Recommendation: Pea shoots Okay: Baked BBQ Pork Bun Pastry(not really like the filling) Deep fried pork dumplings(filling was not so much as I thought) Baked Durian Pastry (the flavor was good but not as good as what I had in Shanghai) Pan fried beef ribs (not so delicious as the restaurant Jing ) Price was pretty reasonable!
I personally think the food, service, layout and lighting of the restaurant are good, but you have to pay in cash.
My-Wonderful-Kitchen, Richmond Hill; aka Michelin in Cantonese - What a meal!......Food quality, death spiraled down like a star being sucked into a black hole as the dinner progressed! Based on past reputation, for our weekly family dinner gathering, we have high hopes and anticipation in selecting this popular refined Cantonese cuisine eatery for our venue. Our meal started off with a spectacular bang that featured a wonderfully executed and delightfully enjoyable Roasted Suckling Piglet Platter . The wafer textured, ultra-crisp skin was superb. The Seaweed and Jellyfish accompaniment, well seasoned and delicious. Easily one of the best Roasted Suckling Piglets in the GTA. The follow up dish of an uncommon Tea smoked premium soy poached free range chicken was dramatically presented at our table ..influenced by tonight s Oscar presentation? Ha! The smokiness and taste profile of both the sauce and chicken was enticing. A top-notched chicken dish! Though nothing special, the Seafood Faux Crab meat dish was run-of-the-mill acceptable, the portion quite generous. Sadly, the meal dropped off the cliff and spiraled quickly downwards from there! The supposedly crunchy/crisp Fried Oyster with Golden Garlic and Honey Pepper Glaze lacked crispiness being replaced by an excessively wet batter layer with mushy sponge-like texture. The Sauteed Angus Beef Cubes with Thai Basil was void of any desired wok-hay element. The taste profile was overwhelmed by an overpowering Celery aroma and taste component despite none were present in the dish. The meat was unexpectedly rough and chewy. And BTW ..where s the Basil?.....we tasted none! The Stirred Fry Gai-Lan ( Chinese Kale ) with Sun Dried Tile Fish was bland and also lacked the oomph of wok-hay goodness. A sad rendition of the exceptionally tasty creation made famous by O Mei. The deterioration of quality culminated in a disastrous finale! An OFF Dessert Soup of Diced Taro and Tapioca that was lukewarm and tasted....stale and sour!! Yeeuck!! No apologies were given when a complaint was launched discretely to the manager! PS: They charge an exorbitant $48 for a pre-ordered Roasted Pigeon, when the average price for such a dish by their neighborhood competitors is only $38!!!........and you all know what this means?!
Their portions are really generous. Surprisingly, the best dish was the crispy eggplant with savory sauce; the outer coating was crispy while the eggplant inside was tender and flavorful. The purple rice roll is essentially the same as the red rice roll but with a different color. The crispy fried milk had a bit too much coating, making it a bit heavy. The honeycomb cake and the first bun were their specialties; the bbq pork filling in the first bun was quite good.
Extremely poor service attitude: I called to ask if there were any available tables on New Years Eve, but the other party hung up on me. Later, it was my husbands turn to call, and he was told that there were no empty seats. They hung my call immediately after I asked if there are any tables available on CNY. Then my hubs proceeded to call again to ask, the lady on the line then answered nicely saying no tables available.
This is not really a traditional Chinese restaurant, it is traditional Chinese food but with a bit of western influence, like putting truffle in some of their dishes, which I find a bit weird. We came for a company Chinese New Year function, which we were seated in the back of the restaurant in some room/private space. Felt a bit dark and dingy likely because the restaurant is situated in the lower level of the building. Food wise is average, again with the western influence some dishes felt and tasted weird. Service was excellent, staff were very attentive, probably because its a company function and the organizer knew the staff personally. Overall its worth a try if you like to try new taste in Chinese food.
Wow! Went with a group for a Christmas dinner and the food was delicious! I am not one that enjoys eating seafood and loved the dishes. The service was impeccable. Parking: Allot time to park prior to arriving. During mealtime, it is a little harder to find parking.
Very poor service
A nice spot that rivals downtown s Rol San restaurant. There s lots of variety on the menu, including dim sum and noodle and dishes. It s a big place with banquet seating and some booth seating. Servers were all pleasant and quick to bring out food, napkins, or anything else we needed. Happy we stumbled upon this place, we will back!
Best sevice! The food is delicious and decent. Great quality at reasonable price.
Wonderful
I ordered takeout and when I got it to the car, I found that there were no sauce packets or bamboo chopsticks. I really didn t know how to eat it.
Great dim sum Yummy steam BBQ bun the best package in the world Mango mochi desserts are also recommended
Dim sum chef should pack up go back to where he belongs 2 managers and wait staff told me they never tried shrimp dumplings in their lifetime, so unable to comment on why they are not using real shrimp + bamboo shoot, but they used shrimp paste with 3mm skin thick instead. Perhaps it s a contingency dumpling as the first order they dropped on my table showed one out of four dumplings is bursted I told the manager their dim sum chef is unable to handle the steaming time for simple shrimp dumplings and over steamed, bursted the skin??! Still serve to your eaters, unbelievable 2 of these staff claimed they never had shrimp dumplings, really? Chinese? Both around early 50 s never had shrimp dumplings The 2nd pic showed the poor quality of their pastry dim sum. But one thing for sure the meal is filling as every pastry is made with lots of dough. I suggest their Head Dim Sum Chef (if they have one) should give me a call and learn what is the real beauty of Chinese dim sum. Those good days on this restaurant is gone, stay away if you are real foodie
Despite making reservations in advance for a large group, we were made to wait around half an hour before we were able to sit, hence the 3 stars (otherwise this would have been 4 stars). Service after sitting down was decent. Overall food and portions were OK, not the best or worst I ve had for dimsum. and in particular are quite decent - would recommend trying those.
I like the soup here
My Wonderful Kitchen in Markham is a solid dim sum option. The variety on the menu is comparable to other local spots, offering a familiar selection. However, the dining experience felt somewhat standard, lacking that standout element. While the staff was efficient, there was nothing exceptional about the service. Its a decent choice for dim sum, but dont expect anything particularly extraordinary.
Price is reasonable. And Food is great!! All dim sum tasted so good!
Parking: Entrance to the restaurant is in the back Food
Had an amazing experience at My Wonderful Kitchen. Great flavour and reasonable prices. We got the Mix and Match Combo. Highly recommend the C20 (Grouper with Salty Egg Yolk) and B6 (Peking Duck).
I ordered a pick-up on weekend, photo 1 is what I ordered, photo 2 is what I got. I got no dessert, no chicken and the fish was stinky. I am very disappointed and will never order this restaurant again.
They re not particularly friendly to non-Chinese speakers from this experience. I ve been here countless times with my parents (immigrants who both speak Cantonese) and have had good service - we have been seated right away and had attentive waiters/waitresses) but this time I came alone with friends, and none of us speak the language. Even with a reservation we were made to wait. Then given the table closest to the door which was cold as it is winter. Our service was inattentive despite us being overtly friendly and polite. I can t say for sure the language barrier was the reason but it sure felt that way as I had been there many times before and had an excellent time with my parents who have always handled the interactions. Great dim sum and a lovely, clean and vibrant atmosphere.
Dead fish for steaming fish
The entrance is kind of hidden, but the restaurant is nicely decorated. We ordered a few dim sums and found every dishes served hot and fresh. They are delicious and have a very reasonable and decent portion. We were unable to finish them all. The service is really good and courteous. The only downside is dirty and smelly washroom. Otherwise, it should have 5 stars.
Good taste on dim sum
Comfortable environment, social distancing practice, reasonable price, good service, food tasty Go for dim sum, quite busy, dim sum taste good, offer a special fish combo, very affordable price, yummy and big portion.
Early Dim Sum for breakfast. Food was very good and delivered right away. All dishes were hot. Good meal
Nice elegant place. Traditional HK style dim sum / dinner restaurant. Good hot tea. A premium place.
We had 11 people for dinner at 7pm. When we went there was a long lineup waited half an hour. Afterward we are seated, waiter the guy was rude to us rushing us on ordering and tell us we cant change or modify the six people combo. We couldnt eat curry on the crabdue to health restriction diets from doctor recommendation. Later when the food arrive every portion was cut in half. It was not what we expected and the server gave us bad attitude. I am not satisifed i feel that with large group they would better portion. Peiking duck was ordered and it was small and cold. Also the crab barely is enough for ten people. The rest were average. Most importantly the price was slightly on pricey side and terrible service We also are given coupon dont wont apply for weekends. Annoyed as ever. I hope management change the way they run business there.
Vegetarian options: Has vegetarian choices Food
been several times and the food has been of consistent quality but management needs to learn how to manage their bookings before this restaurant gets more than 3 stars
The set dinner for six came with two lobsters, one crab, and some other delicious dishes. The server also suggested that we order a dish of pancake for the curry crab. Thats a great idea. All of us not just enjoyed the yummy foods but also the wonderful service. We definitely would recommend this restaurant, and its great deal to our friends and families.
Delicious foods, nice service.
2023 update - came for dinner with a party of four. Staff here were quite friendly and polite. The food was pretty good value as well - we opted for the mix an match deal which essentially had 5 dishes, plus soup and dessert, for $160. This was much better value than another Richmond Hill favourite, Lobster Port, where we last had a big Chinese meal. Will definitely be coming back to My Wonderful Kitchen! Cant comment on the price as I was here for a family dinner and a relative paid the bill, but the food tasted really good. We had a set meal that included an 8 pound lobster which was great, a braised beef short rib, fish, snow peas and some other dishes. This place has been around for awhile and it is still pretty busy which says something in my opinion.
What a scam eating here.
My Wonderful Kitchen is definitely one of the hidden gems in Richmond Hill for their dim sum and dinner menu to enjoy with friends and family! I visited My Wonderful Kitchen with my folks and their friends for a reunion and we really enjoyed our experience! As we were deciding on a menu, the maître d offered some great suggestions based on our preferences and dietary restrictions. The price for the set was fair with the variety and quality we received. In terms of some highlights, I would suggest the 4 Pound Lobster with Butter Cream and White Wine Sauce. Taking a play on seafood chowder, the delicately sweet lobster pairs well with the hearty chowder-like sauce that also comes with minced bacon and white mushrooms. It pairs well with a bowl of rice! The Steamed Vancouver Crab with Garlic was a minor meltdown as the sauce was a tad watered down. If more curry powder or spices were added, the steamed crab with vermicelli would be a home run. The stir fried Sea Cucumber was perfectly cooked and pairs well with green onions and onion! Overall, we really enjoyed the reunion meal and I cant wait to be back soon!
Really authentic Cantonese dim sum and great atmosphere. Felt like I was in Hong Kong.
Good gethering place....food is good. Quite crowded and the service is so so.
I have been to this restaurant many times. Dimsum and dinner experiences are generally good. Friendly service and delicious food. Quite consistent. Maybe once out of ten visits the foods were not that good. Who knows, the head chef was on vacation?
I had to try my favorite Cantonese dessert - steamed multilayered cake. It was okay. Not sweet enough, and too little salty egg yoke and coconut shreds inside. To be fair, it was served piping hot, maybe too hot that the egg custard was kind of runny. Im afraid the art of making Cantonese multilayered cake is dying. Or has it already gone extinct? Other than that, the place was clean and the service attentive. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either.
Apparently youre EXPECTED to pay minimum 15% gratuity or more even for poor food and poor service. Be ready.... the servers actually run out chasing you through the parking lot asking for my gratuity. I personally gave 12% despite the poor services and food and that wasnt enough for them. BE CAUTIOIS should you visit this place!
As the morning tea was advertised before 11 oclock, all sizes were priced at 4 yuan each. In addition, there was a 20% off coupon given by this store before. During the meal, I asked for rice rolls and soy sauce. The lobby manager ignored him and said 11 when I checked out. Ordering before ordering and enjoying morning tea for 4 yuan is only available to VIPs. I thought I could use a coupon, but I was told that the coupon can only be used for dinner, not morning tea. Its a bit deceptive to consumers. When advertising morning tea and refreshments for $4, they didnt make it clear that only VIPs can enjoy them. The coupons they gave away didnt make it clear that they could only be used for dinner. I tricked people into having morning tea, but didnt give me anything. When I asked the service staff again to confirm whether I was enjoying the discount, the lobby manager came over and clicked on the clause that all interpretation rights on the coupon belong to Michelin, without saying a word. , and then left, looking impatient. In the future, please improve your service attitude and explain all the discounts clearly. Dont be so unclear as to trick people into coming to eat without giving them anything.
Food was good at a reasonable price. Expect it to be noisy.
Used to be my go to place for dim sum take out,but now I may need to reconsider. They recently increased their prices, but food quality got really poor. Their steamed dishes are still okay, but definitely stay away from their fried items. I ordered fried wonton and they deep fried har gow. The stuff peppers were over cooked. Lastly the deep fried sticky pork dumplings and sesame balls were soaked in oil and over fried. Kitchen staff must have changed. Do not recommend this place.
Service top notch from the minute we walked in the door. Food was excellent, with recommendations from the waiter to minimize cost.
Entrance is in the rear, where there is a garage. Excellent food!
With the recent price increasing, overall it still s a good dimsum place. Service is excellent, they do go out of their way to make you happy, you can ask for bottle water, extra napkins, even extra soup with no extra charges. their steam dishes are very good, I dont like the deep fried stuff, too oily, and I was a bit disappointed that they dont have the egg tar, the milk tar is not the same. Eva, May, Lily and Sonia are the nice waitress.
Very good price , especially if you got 20 coupon where you can use for every 100dolllar you spent. The only thing I wish they have fresh offered as sauce on the side. But I love their food. One of my favourite chinese restaurant! Food
My family and I ate here for our last meal in Canada before returning home to the US. We were pleasantly surprised by the fact that small, med, and large dimsum are all a fixed price if you order before 11am (and if you pay with cash, I think?) We ended up ordering too much but the food was good, the service was quick, and it was fun to be surrounded by Chinese gong gongs and po pos all enjoying a meal together.
Truly this place has a wonderful kitchen
Bad service tho
Sent for dim sum.Every dish was tasty. The quantity generous. Staff super helpful. With these prices you get 5 stars. Recommended: salmon fish head dim sum.
Forget it if I missed an order, they gave me the missing portion of honeycomb cake when I left after paying the bill! Muzzy! Very bitter and mushy! Where is your conscience? !
Our family had a dinner here. The food, service, atmosphere, everything was delicious, very enjoyable, especially the attentive service. It was really comfortable, so I gave it five stars and I will definitely come again.
Been here a few times for their early bird dimsum special. $5.28 for any S, M, L dim sum dish before 1100, not bad. Also special lunch, dinner combos, unheard of reasonable prices during these high inflationary times. As long as you dont mind the screaming service staff, annoying but it keeps things efficiently moving along. Maybe not the best dimsum but for the price, Im a happy dimsum customer. Rice rolls are a little too thick for my preference, however, the dont skimp on the fillings either beef, pork, or shrimp. Pumpkin congee comes in a big wooden pot with cover, well worth the special price. Chicken feet flavorful, skin easily falls off the toes/claws, lol, sounds horrendous but believe me its tasty. The rest, lotus leave wrapped chicken rice, meatballs, shrimp dumplings, bean curd skin wrapped veg all meet my recommended dimsum standards (although Ive been told my standards are not very high, lol) Great food value for the money, another added benefit, before leaving, dont forget to ask for the $20 off coupons good for the combo specials and normal entree dishes. Btw, 10% tip is normally good enough, no stink eye from the service staff, can I get a hallelujah.
Service was great. Friendly staff. Their dim sum was very good. The staff is always friendly.
I was given a coupon for $20 that I intend to use at lunch. I have reviewed the terms and condition and there is no restriction indicated at all. When I present the coupon, I was told that this can only be used after 4pm and you need to spend $100 to use the coupon. This is definitely misleading advertising. The staff even mentioned that many customers have complained about this but the restaurant has no intention to correct this matter meaning that they do this on purpose. I am very disappointed about this though the food is not bad at all. I will not recommend.
It s cheap at noon and has a lot of good food to choose from. The staff are attentive and the service is good. The only thing is that it s hard to find at the door.
Delicious dim sum. Nice decor. Recently clean washrooms! Confusing entrance (park at the rear of the mall/plaza NOT facing Hwy7). Our family has never had a bad experience in this establishment. Would recommend.
The BBQ pork buns are great. However this place isnt as value-worth as it used to, since prices just went up and portion went down. Still a good place for family gatherings.
Place was very clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Good price, excellent food. Parking: Just outside the restaurant, lots of spaces. Kid-friendliness: Nice & considering small kids needs. Good service.
Came back after the pandamic and found out they have a great weekday special now. The quality of food are still there. Despite the raise in food and service, I think they have kept the price low at this level of restaurant. The lamb pot and chicken are pretty good. Yet the lobsters dish is kinda pointless since there isnt much meat in these 1-2 lbs lobsters.
