Clean and bright Dim Sum restaurant located in Richmond Hill.
It was pretty busy but staff kept the lines moving. The food was really good and I feel like . Everything was hot and delicious. I'd say this is one of the better dim sum places I have been to lately.
We came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday, reservation made for 5:30pm. Everything we ate was great! Good portion and good flavors, decent pricing too. The service was really attentive as they would continuously replace soiled dishes. The food also came really quickly. The only thing I would like to note is that though the service from all staff was respectable, attentive and kind. Near the end of our meal, it felt like thet were rushing us to leave, even though there was no line up outside. They even packed our desserts while we were still eating it! Not sure if they were rushing so that they could attend to a big party on the other side of the restaurant since it was blocked off that day. But, I would definitely come back to eat again.
First time and the experience was a good one. We ordered a fixed dinner pack for 4. Unfortunately the crispy pork wasn't available and replaced with Pee Pa duck which turned out to be pretty tasty. Started with the Lotus soup with spare ribs and red beans and it was a superb start! Soup was piping hot and "sweet", went down well. The other dishes followed were all good except may be for the fish fillet with snow peas, mushroom and muk ee whick was quite bland and unadventurous. The Empress Chicken was impressive - juicy and rich. Luv it. Then the crab arrived and that tops the evening, the dish was well done and we dealt with it no mercy. The vegetable, Chinese brocoli, was sooooo good, cruchy and the garlic soya sauce was just right. Colour was bright. Perfect. By this time, the dinning room was packed with patrons for the evening so it was good advice by the staff that we moved our reservation from 6pm to 5:30pm. We left there 7:10pm after a sweet red peas soup and it rounded off the evening in gastromic harmony. There was a bunch of patrons waiting to get a table. Service was good, waiters and waitresses were attentive and observant. I still missed the crispy pork though! But may be next time!
The good dimsum palace in the area, a lots of choice, always full at weekend. SPecial discount price available before 11am weekdays, Monday to Friday. It's also good at seafood dishes, lunch and dinner special for 3-10 people, you can always find something you like, but better call to book in advance. Parking is not easy, serve is good too
Has a chance to visit the restaurant with a party of 10. We ordered set menu plus a few additional dishes. The food were ok; not the best not the worst. But the value is there comparing to other restaurants in the surrounding. The service however was excellent. We had ribs/lobsters and they kept replacing our dirty dishes with new one. I probably got 5 replacement plates throughout the dinner. The restaurant and washroom as well maintained, no issue there. Recommended if you are looking for meal with value
We were party of 9. We got a set combo and added 2 extra dished for the kids. The taste was ok. The sweet and sour pork didn't really look fresh to me. Also it was only 5:30 and apparently they ran out of duck...so that was disappointing. The bbq pork was a replacement for the duck. It was ok. The lobster was ok. The service was great. They were very attentive. Tried to make everything fit and switched the plates when needed. Atmosphere was alright. The washroom were nice and tidy.
Fantastic tasting dim sum restaurant in Richmond Hill. I wouldn't say I have the highest standards for dim sum, but this really hit the spot. Everything was delicious, authentic and freshly made. They do have a special before 11AM on weekdays, but I probably will never have the pleasure of enjoying it (as it doesn't apply for holidays either). The special is $5.50 for S, M and L dishes - which is a $2 saving per Large dish! The service was okay but could be better. We made a reservation and did have to wait 15 minutes for the table to be ready. After we ordered, it seemed like everything was being made on the spot (which for a dim sum restaurant, is unlikely) due to the pace of the food coming out. Every 5 minutes, a dish would show up - sometimes even longer. It was weird because other tables were getting the same dishes, but before us. Usually dim sum restaurants are more fast paced than this. It was also a bit of a struggle to get refills on tea and water, and I'm pretty sure we didn't end up getting any refills of the tea. Overall it was $196 for a LOT of dishes, which came out to around $28 per person including tax and tip which is fair.
Book online highly recommended! We booked for 10:30a and got our table at 10:30a. Ppl who dont know end up waiting in the lobby and it was a busy lobby. Dim sum is always great here with lots of variety of food, great tasting by dim sum standards.
Delicious and inexpensive
I ve been here many weekends, the service, food were all first class. One of the best dim sum in GTA.
This is a busy place. The dim sum is pretty good, and the price is good too.
Expensive
It is a good choice to have breakfast, lunch and dinner here.
Special dim sum until 11. 5.50 for all size (S/M/L).
Had a recent meal here for their one of their set meal which includes a lamb pot, crab with salted egg sauce, Soy sauce chicken, roasted pork. The price itself was extremely competitive for what is on offer and the quality of the dishes were good too. Im quite picky when it comes to Chinese food and this combo definitely did not disappoint. Highly recommended!!
Quiet on a weekday night. Steamed minced pork with sa ok teddy fish and sausage was flavorful and juicy. Mustard greens was good except for a few stringy pieces.

Food was great and came quickly.
Food quality is great and price is very reasonable. Discounted dim sum is available during the early morning hours. Highly recommended.
Morning tea is huge But the hygiene is worrisome, and the custard buns are full of dirt. Another copy was released
Their roast duck and suckling pig are delicious, their signature dishes. We ordered every time we dine in there.
They don t follow up the order and they make a lots of mistakes of the bills.
I told them 30 minutes in advance that I wanted to cancel some dishes, and that once I placed the order, I could not return it. I had never experienced this kind of service in a Guangzhou restaurant. The attitude of the waiter was bad, and the taste of the dishes was very average. The fried milk tasted very bland, and the rice rolls were very thin. Its thick and not delicious. I suggest you dont come here and try somewhere else.
***Be aware if you store wine here*** Specifically commenting for how the venue took away bottles of wine during a wedding banquet. When we were here for a wedding, the waiters were particularly slow in refilling wine for the guests. They took away wines from the wedding. When asked, they said they stored away the wine for the wedding.
They have some traditional Cantonese dim sum. The price is reasonable. The environment isnt noise in comparison with other Cantonese style restaurants. It is pretty comfortable. Nice service
Attended a 100 birthday celebration banquet! Food was excellent! Service was great!
Waited over 1-1/2 hours, tables were still given to ONLY so-called reserved customers. DONT go there, its a waste of time. Service
Best dim sum in markham Consistently good.. no surprises Food : 5/5
Terrible experience here. They are severely understaffed and their staff are clearly not happy working there. My family and I waited for almost 60min and didnt receive any food we ordered. It was apparent their staff focused their efforts serving a banquet nearby but didnt increase their staffing to accommodate the increase in customers. This resulted in leaving customers like myself waiting for nearly an hour for anything to arrive. Needless to say, we had to leave before our food arrived as we just got off a flight and was extremely fatigued and hungry. This is NOT a place I would recommend for any visitors.
Family members, avoid thunder! 2 stars for a holiday without waiting in line.
Orient Bistro in Markham offers a blend of traditional Chinese and contemporary Asian-inspired dishes. The restaurant is known for its elegant yet casual dining atmosphere, making it a popular spot for both family gatherings and intimate dinners. ### Ambiance: The ambiance is inviting with modern decor, soft lighting, and comfortable seating arrangements. The design is chic but not overly extravagant, providing a warm and relaxed dining environment. It s a place where you can enjoy a quiet meal or celebrate a special occasion without the space feeling too formal. ### Service: Service at Orient Bistro is generally well-received. The staff is courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are quick to offer suggestions and accommodate special requests, which adds to the overall dining experience. ### Food: The menu features a wide variety of dishes, ranging from classic Cantonese favorites to innovative fusion creations. Popular dishes include Peking Duck, dim sum, and seafood specialties like lobster in garlic butter sauce. The ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are well-prepared with attention to detail in presentation. ### Pricing: Pricing is mid-to-high range, reflecting the quality of ingredients and the overall dining experience. While it might be on the pricier side compared to some local Chinese eateries, the quality of food and service justifies the cost. ### Overall Experience: Orient Bistro is a solid choice for anyone looking to enjoy a refined dining experience with authentic Chinese flavors in Markham. Whether youre a fan of traditional Chinese dishes or looking to try something with a modern twist, the restaurant offers a versatile menu that caters to various tastes.
A bit tight in space, but one side of the hall was having a wedding banquet at the time of my visit. Otherwise, things are good
Ive only ever been to Orient Bistro for lunch/dimsum, but never for dinner. Last week, I was able to finally try it out since my family had a birthday to celebrate. We made a reservation and ordered ahead of time, as we were a party of 10. Coincidentally, there was a wedding going on at the same time on the other side of the restaurant and because of this (and other factors), it made our experience subpar. The music and noise of the wedding was very loud and along with the noise of other tables, it made it very difficult to hear other people from our own table. Not to mention the lack of parking because of the wedding! Orient Bistro shares the parking lot with several other popular restaurants, including Alchemy and Tim Hortons, so its very difficult to find parking, especially close to the restaurant. The food itself was just okay. Nothing stood out but nothing was bad. It was your typical Chinese dinner, nothing special. The service was also just okay - as expected for a Chinese restaurant I guess. Our package dinner included dishes that had lots of bones/shells (lobster, baked conch, fish, etc.) but the servers never cleared our plates. We also had to flag down servers to refill our two teapots constantly too. Overall, I wouldnt recommend coming here for special occasions, but I guess regular dinners are OK - though Im not sure what the prices are like. Definitely beware of parking.
This is a fairly up market restaurant. I had lunch and dinner there on different days. The service on both days was very courteous and the staff were definitely helpful. Food met our expectations and the roast squabs which requires advanced order, were tasty. Atmosphere was per usual. Restaurants, unfortunately are generally noisy. Overall, our experience and expectations were met.
Very terrible experience, I found 2 eyelashes in different meals, the food taste full of MSG and some ingredients wasn t even fresh. I will never come back
Good food and service
Yummy
One of the better Chinese restaurants you can get in Richmond hill. Their dim sum is above average, and their dinner dishes are great. However, their food quality is inconsistent. Overall solid restaurant with acceptable prices.
Don t bother making online reservation. They will not have a table available. When you arrive, they will put you on the same list as walkins. Despicable and misleading.
great vegetarion options! will be coming back for more! Vegetarian options: great selection of veggie dishes for dim sum! Food : 5/5 |
This place is very underrated for Cantonese fine dining. My family and I have been regulars here for the past 1 1/2 years. Would highly recommend the Peking Duck and the crispy chicken! Price range varies depending on what you order.
Such terrible service. Waited for more than an hour to have 4 items of the 8 we ordered come. In the end, my family and I decided to leave midway since the service was too slow. Imagine waiting 1hr for half your items, especially at a dimsum restaurant.
Had a wonderful experience here. This place was recommended by a friend for dim sum but we ended up coming here for dinner randomly. Decided to go a la carte: Peking duck, Cantonese crispy noodles, garoupa with corn sauce, flank steak with mushroom, and some ginger broccoli. Everything tasted great. They even provided a small dessert which was tasty as well. Kids and grandparents loved the food. Server were really nice and courteous. I accidentally knocked over the team all over the table cloth and they were so nice, came over and told us not to worry, brought extra napkins to soak it up. Will definitely be coming back for the dim sum. I heard it s really good here.
Food very tasty and authentic but portions slightly smaller than expected. We came for late dinner so slightly under staff for a party of 23. ambience typical for Chinese dining place
A Disappointing Experience We made an early morning reservation and arrived well before our scheduled time. Despite this, we were asked to wait in line. When we inquired about the wait time, the hostess informed us that she couldn t provide an estimate, leaving us uncertain and frustrated. After asking another staff member, we were told there were still five tables ahead of us, despite it being over 30 minutes past our reservation time. The disorganization at the front desk was overwhelming, with guests crowded and confused. The lack of consideration for the situation was appalling. Ultimately, we decided to leave as I did not want my 90-year-old father to be forced to stand in line despite having a reservation. We will not be returning in the future. This experience was beyond disappointing and clearly reflects the poor management and service at this establishment. I strongly advise others to reconsider dining here.
Fried stuff delivered to our table cold! Golden lava buns don t even liquid, solid at the center. Too on duty servers to serve.
We waited for almost 2 hours for a table of 4 since 12pm. They kept letting people that made reservations in. While when we called earlier to make reservations, they said they don t take reservations for just 4 people (which is not true, coz they kept letting people with a reservation of 4 in). We finally got a table, place our order and waited another 35 minutes and didn t get any food. They lost our order form and couldn t find it anywhere! We ordered pork ball congee with veggies, and a shrimp ball congee came and I m allergic to seafood! The waitress, Suki, was so annoyed and grabbed all the bowls and left. When she returned, we asked for the bowl of white rice to come sooner because my child was starving, she was like why didn t you tell me everything all at once and now she has to walk again! She made us feel we did something wrong!!! When all she needed to do is to scoop some rice in the kitchen! This type of customer service is totally unacceptable! We will never come again!
several issues concluded from understaffing: 1. waited forever for food: ordered 4 simple dim sum/ rice dishes, waited 30 mins to get ONE dim sum, was told that the rice dish CANNOT be made for us (yes, after 30 minutes of waiting). the two dim sum dishes arrived a total of 45 mins later. 2. was left in the patio for 30 minutes sitting with wind blowing in my ELDERY parent s face. no food served. 3. server said to put wind-blocking blinds down to shield us against the wind. in the 45 minutes we were there, they NEVER did it, after TWICE reminding them. (he himself is not to blame though, due to point 4 below). 4. the entire patio was served by ONE man. it was terribly understaffed and he did everything he had to do in a polite and courteous manner, but he had like SEVEN tables of FOUR people or more to watch. conclusion, food was good, server was doing his best, but food arrived terribly late, and they were horribly understaffed and unprepared for the amount of customers visiting during the long weekend.
Food: Not much flavour to anyrhing. Poor presentation and even worse serving. Found a hair in my rice roll. Very slow, 20-40 minutes each order. Service: Absolutely horrendous. Lost count how many near misses and actual bumps of wait staff bumping in to customers, adults and kids alike. One of the servers was just absolutely rude, we waited 40 minutes for an order of beef offals which is usually already prepared (I could have made it fresh in 20 mins with an instapot), she barked at us instead of checking the order. Extreme chaos from hostess, servers, or wait staff. Atmosphere: Loud and obnoxious, peoples yelling across the room, both customers and staff. Pretty pricy considering each dish was $7.50 to $14.88 for dimsum and poor service.
Even with reservation had to wait over 30 mins for a table in the patio, waiting for table in the dining room would have been longer. We are limited in time so had to settle for the patio. We immediately placed dim sum order, again over 30 mins and still no food even after asking waiter repeatedly about our food. Food has also gone downhill beef tendon seemed to be way over cooked more like soft jello. Used to be one of our goto place but after this experience we will not be coming here again.
First, I made a reservation but is useless. They never reserved it and end up giving us a huge table instead of a table for 6. Then we have a cockroach crawling on the table. The food is not good at all. What jumbo shrimps? Its small and cheap and worse then frozen dimsum . The fried squid for $14.88 is so overpriced and the size is small and not tasty at all. They have a special for $49.99 which looks fancy in the picture and it was another disappointment. If they want to use it as a selling point, at least it should be good. There are so many choices in the area and I would not recommend this place at all. Only positive comment is the waiter was nice and courteous.
Reserved for a 6pm saturday dinner ahead of time, was given a patio table under today s almost 30 degree celsius weather. There was no communication about the reservation is for patio seating at all when we called, their patio is a very confined space with limited circulation. Our party of 8 consists of young toddlers and elderly. Very disappointing, went somewhere for dinner instead.
One of the clean and nice Chinese cuisine in the area. Foods are good will variety choices. But they need to improve the quality of tea. Can be much better. Parking: Because a lot different restaurants in the same plaza, parking spot would be not easy to find.
We come here for early dim sum. Saw ratings below 4, was suspicious on their standard. It turns out to be an enjoyable visit. Restaurant has a comfortable setting, bright, spacious and well decorated. Service awesome, we were greeted by hostesses as we walked into the restaurant to our table. Dim sum is super delicious and well presented, some are unique here. Exceptionally good price on weekdays for orders place before 11am. Their menu has seafood lunch set at price below $70, we haven t tried but can t believe such a low price for lobster or green bass combo. We re Vancouverite. As compared to Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, this is among one of the best yet at reasonably lower price.
Order 1 and a half pound life shrimp and came out with only 11 shrimps. Most Chinese restaurant will have 9 or 10 in one pound. Bring your own scale if you want to order fish or shrimp or go somewhere else.
We used to come here a lot but now it s so busy and the hosts/hostesses can t keep track of things. The restaurant is understaffed as a whole which affected our dining experience negatively. We re going to move on to the other options for dimsum in the area.
Excellent service, foods are delicious and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Highly recommended. Parking: Easy to park near the restaurant
The one item I always look for at dimsum, Lo Mai Gai . Been exploring around gta looking for the best . I like it a bit more sauce and filling in my lo mai gai. You can see in the picture, is very bland and hard. Will give it a 1/5 Over all dimsum is not bad, everything was bland. Before 11am S-L same price(5.50) pretty good deal. Dont think I will come back again.
High-end Cantonese food with decent price, lobster and duck are top notch!
Really Bad Service I hate that pink shirt as soo called himself manger ain t sooo stupid the way he put the dim sum order receipt not the other side for waiter mark as done as the order arrived really terrible service 1.10/10
Toronto is full of great dim sum restaurants, but this is among the best. Fast and fresh, with a fantastic menu. Save room for the sweets, their choices are mind boggling.
Placed an online order and prepaid, with 1.5 hours advanced notice and still had to wait 50 minutes AT the restaurant for my order. Understanding its Mothers Day and restaurant is very busy, but with the advanced order it is outrageous to have to wait for another 50 mins and be given part of the order only, as they had advised one of the dishes was burnt and need to be remade. There was not a care at all for the inconvenience. Doesnt matter if your food is good, there is a certain expectation you should meet. If you cannot manage and handle online orders with incoming traffic, dont take the order. Would give ZERO star if I could.
Ordered prepaid online takeout and food was delayed by 45 mins. No apologies and don t expect the manager will do anything. Food is no different than frozen dim sum store.
Good food.
1 fish 2 fish red fish blue fish. Ordered 1 fish dish, but they served me 2 fish on 1 dish. My preorder receipt stated 1 fish but they said $120 is correct for 1 fish dish. Midway a server came with a 1 fish dish but whence she came with the 1 fish dish. Oh something may be amiss. Also had crab noodle or was it canned ham strudel. Beef dish was chewy or rubbery. Servers were great though, quick and accommodating. Overall no thank you, not here not there, worthier restaurants everywhere.
I made reservations and showed up 5 minutes before the scheduled time; the entire lobby was packed with people. When I checked in with the hostess, she added my name to a long list. Why pretend to take reservations? Just tell people that there are no reservations, that it s first come first serve, so that they can make an informed decision. Don t waste people s time!
Large chinese restaurant with upscale decor. They serve dim sum at lunch, and can accomodate parties in a private seating area. Food is decent quality, but you can find better in Richmond Hill and Markham. Food
First time to this restaurant and definitely the last time too. First of all, if you promote yourself as high class, then I expect it to be one. I was surprised the restaurant is tiny and tables are so close to each other that your chair touches the one at the next table. Many people were waiting at the foyer and complaining no table even the have booked one before coming. If you have eight people, then be prepared to be cozy with your friends as the table is really for six people. After we placed the order, the first dim sum didnt arrive until at least 20 minutes later. I guess they really want you to socialize with your friends, but its clearly a sign of staff shortage in the kitchen. When the dim sum finally came, not only they are about 25% smaller than other restaurants such as The One Fusion or Skyview Fusion, they also dont taste as good. Just to name a few, there are shrimp skin inside the shrimp dumplings, the rice skin is thick, and the worst is the Crispy seafood roll with red rice which is XL. The skin is thick again and the salmon pink colour is definitely food coloring, rather than using red rice as the color. There are many restaurants that charge the same price in Markham and Richmond Hill, and this restaurant is definitely not as high class as it advertised. Total disappointment.
The dim sum is rich in variety and tastes good, especially the beef balls, siomai and shrimp dumplings are better than many teahouses in Guangzhou .
Been trying their combo meal for one person: 1) Crab meat shark fin soup 2) Braised sea cucumber 3) a dish of your choice. Great food and service. Recommended for family gathering and casual dining.
Great ambience, Dim sum was delicious other food options were good too
I sincerely LOVE the food here. The owners and staff are very respectable and kind towards everyone! Never had better! Kid-friendliness: The staff provided free candy to the children there. They are so nice!
the only place that allowed same day booking for a Saturday. the suckling pig was crisp. the other dim sum are authentic and flavourful. similar to the quality I would get in hong kong
The order placed at 10.37 was finished at 11:15 and the chicken feet were not served yet. After telling the waiter that the bill would not be given, we went to the kitchen to ask for it and it was immediately served. We refused to take it because we had already finished eating, so we tore off the plate of chicken feet. I asked her to take it back. Okay, let s pay the bill. There are chicken feet on the bill which means I haven t eaten yet and I have to pay for it. This restaurant doesn t taste very good and the service is good or bad. I want to buy and sell by force.
One of my best dim sum restaurants, food and service are very good. Flat fee for S M L dim sum order before 11:00 am Mon - Fri
A must try of the boneless lamb hot pot.
Tried this place for the first time this morning. I would say the dim sum were good tasting and the Taro dumplings were the best that I ve ever tasted. Restaurant was converted from a Caucasian style restaurant. There are some interesting decor although I m not sure about the mix of decorations. However, the atmosphere is quite nice compared to other similar restaurants. The seating was nice, comfortable and spacious. It s not a humongous restaurant so it s more cozy. I would go back again if I m in Toronto.
Good place for celebrating special occasions. The food is pretty good and the decor is nice. I go for dim sum here as well because they have a decent selection
A bit expensive for the food and service, too crowded
Dim sum taste same like the fu Kee bao dim. Totally waste the money and time. Food
Just like any other dim sum place you would find in Toronto but the place is small compared to other restaurants. Food came out hot. Service was great.
Went for dinner on a weekday maybe the kitchen is short staffed on a weekday, I ve tasted better quality at this restaurant before. Sadly, my anticipated roasted pork was rubbery and showed indication of being reheated. I was hoping for a comeback with the steamed lobster but it was also rubbery. The rest of the meal went downhill from there even though the service was very good. Maybe .. just maybe I should come back on weekend instead?
Friendly service and great food.
Great roasted pig
Above the level
Enjoy brunch with friends Dim sum are Food
Love their food, BBQ pork and duck are the best! , Dim Sum
The new lamb belly pot is really delicious Dietary restrictions: Haoyuan newly launches delicious lamb belly pot
Lamb belly pot, Taste good!
Had dim sum here a couple of weeks ago and food was just terrible. (sticky rice in lotus leaf) came first and the center was still frozen The bean curd vegetable roll and the deep fried squid were way too salty. All the other dishes we had were just meh. There are much better dim sum restaurants in the area, don t waste your time and money here.
First time there. They had really great service and were very attentive. The king crab was amazing (see photo). We got a set menu with 9lb king crab, which brings up the $ per person significantly.
Parking: Lots of parking Food
Dinner in a good atmosphere is worth having
Excellent food
Suckling pig skin is crispy The lamb belly stewed in sauce is rich in flavor and is delicious
A very good travel experience
Dietary restrictions: Good taste and servio Recommended dishes
Love their bbq duck. Whole pi pa duck is reasonably priced at $58
My family and I have been here before for dimsum and the food is absolutely terrific! However, the service on our recent visit was not great. The service was slow (which doesnt bother me but something to keep in mind). However, when we were about the leave, someone who worked there came to our table and asked for more tip. I give 3 stars because the dim sum is fantastic but the service was not good.
Very yummy food !
Tasty food with sufficient quantity to fill you up. Staff is friendly and service is good. Just note that parking filled up quite quickly at dining time because there are a few restaurants sharing the same parking lot.
We reserved a table 2 weeks ago, with 2 confirmations, and they still gave our table away, even we arrived early. The wait would be 1.5 hour I will never go back think twice going there if you have special guests Food
We go for dinners and dim sum often. Food is delicious. The Roasted Pig is excellent!
It was new year dinner, however the portion of the food is much more smaller than normal. Some of the food is even cold when they got it served, so disappointed, will not come again.
Love this place! Will come back for sure and highly recommend this place to friends!!
Delicious Lamb pot, highly recommended, yummy!
Delish dim sum
Recently, we had a group dinner for the New Year and booked a set meal for 15 people and a half. However, when we arrived, we were informed that we had not prepared a group and a half because we forgot to place the order. We were looking forward to eating the baked snails and needed to make a reservation. In the end, there were only 10 snails. Snails, and the rest of the half-circle was replaced by baked scallops, which was okay, but what came was just a pile of shredded meat, cheese and shredded meat placed on the scallop shells, which was unpalatable. In addition, the suckling pork on the first plate was of poor quality. It was so bad that I couldnt even bite it. The ingredients used in the dishes were of very poor quality. They dared to charge around $800. In addition, the service was super fast and took 45 minutes to divide all the dishes. There was no time to taste them. NOT RECOMMENDED! Recently, I and my 14 friends to celebrate the Chinese New Year, we had reserved a set menu for fifteen ppl which is for 1.5 table. However, upon arrival, we were notified that the portion for 5 hadnt been prepared due to a forgotten order. We were especially anticipating the baked whelk, which required pre-ordering. Consequently, only ten whelks were available, with five baked scallops substituted for the remaining 5 portion. While this substitution wasnt a major issue, the presentation was disappointing , as shredded meat and cheese were haphazardly placed atop scallop shells, it tasted so bad. Furthermore, the suckling pig appetizer was in poor quality, almost inedible. The overall dish quality was subpar, yet they had the audacity to charge $800 per table. Moreover, the service was rushed; all dishes were served within 45 minutes, leaving no time to savor the food. NOT RECOMMENDED!
I made a reservation here two days in advance. When I arrived, no less than 50 people were waiting for a table. Everyone had reserved a table, but they were all waiting in front of the door. The service attitude of this restaurant is extremely poor. It is positioned as a free reservation. It has no concept of time and has no bottom line in attracting customers. If you don t understand what a reservation is, you cancel the reservation service and have to wait two hours for a reservation. Is this called a reservation? The food was terrible and I will never go there again.
We celebrated my parents 50th anniversary and had 3 banquet tables. The service was warm and exceptional as each table has an assigned server. Special shout out to Suki, Ken/Kent and the third gentleman, who paced the meals well and had humorous conversations. Partitions gave us a cozy environment and the food was great, including a healthy soup, Portuguese conchs, Pei pa duck, and hearty dessert. Will come back again soon!
The one star is for the process to get a table for dimsum. They take reservations however, they also take walk-ins but they tend to give all the tables to reservations/frequent customers, it seems. They have mainly large tables so it ll take 1.5hrs to get a small table for 4 people or less. Dim sum specials Monday to Friday before 11am, all plates is $5.50.
Located in one of the busy strip plazas in Richmond Hill close to hwy 404 & 16th Ave, this cosy Chinese restaurant offers authentic Cantonese dimsum & dinner menu. The chefs lunch specials are both fresh and delicious. Service is prompt, efficient. The overall atmosphere is cosy and relaxing.
The dim sum can only be said to be normal, the fried ones are better than the steamed ones, the shrimp dumplings and siomai are not above the standard, the cotton chicken is too watery (so strange), the taro in the steamed ribs is so thick, and the juice has a strong instant garlic flavor. The overall price is more expensive than food level. The food was served at a normal speed, but the Dry Fried Beef River was completely lacking in wok gas and soy sauce, and the rice noodles had a powdery flavor that was not unpleasant. Very disappointed. A fried rice roll is better than a dry river of beef! I am no longer interested in filming! Each table can accommodate 2 people, 4 people, 5 people, 7-8 people, the table is also close to the wall, and the back of the chair is close to the back of the chair. There is really no need to eat so much. The only thing I like about the book is that there is no need to wait at the left table. The staff service is very good, thank you waiter. However, due to food, I would drink for a long time three or four hours after the eclipse, and there would be no next time. Because there are so many choices in Toronto.
Nice place to get dim sum. Prices are not the budget style. Table available at 10am but the line up was heavy after 11:30am. Service is good probably because one person in our party knows the staff well.
Very good food and service.
Amazing Chinese cuisine I just had in Richmond Hill! It was my first time there and I couldnt be happier with the experience. The Lamb Stew was an absolute must-order, especially for the winter in Toronto. So flavorful and comforting! And let me tell you, the steamed pork was incredibly juicy, perfect to pair with some rice. The service was top-notch and they really took care of us. I highly recommend this place for a family gathering. You wont be disappointed!
Great experience
We had an amazing lunch here at Orient Bistro. We got the new $58 Signature Lamb Stew. It was so comforting and packed with meat! We recommend the dim sum too. Our favourites were the shrimp dumplings (har gow) and the rice rolls (cheung fun).
We have a birthday party of five, were quite impressed and happy with the overall food quality of our dinner.
For a reserved table, Waited for 3hrs but still didn t get the food delivered , no one really cares
They put us in a tent claiming that they had a party inside the restaurant, which is a lie. We waited an hour and a half for the rice and noodles. The service is ok. Then we waited an hour and a half for dessert. Very disappointing!
WORST DIM SUM, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE. HAD TO SIT OUTSIDE THE PATIO, HOT, FLIES AND BEES. FOOD ONLY SO SO AND NOT WORTH THE $$$. SERVICE WAS SLOW, UNFRIENDLY.
The taste and portions are ok. It would be more attractive if the price could be discounted a little bit.
A little pricey
I attended my neighbour daughters wedding reception here. The place is large, clean, and the food was very good.
Food quality has dropped big styles. They have opted for huge portions and low quality. People would rather have smaller portions with much higher quality. You can do a lot better.
Good food and the price reflects that. They have outdoor seating for those who are conscious about COVID. Service is also good.
Ok food
This store is so bad on Planing. We walked in and took a waiting number. Never called my number because they called the table that reserved by the phone when those phone calls were received during I had reserved by walk in. They should know that during holiday, there will have many people come out and eat. They should do first come first serve when it is holiday. Bad experience.
Had my wedding reception here last year and it was wonderful!! Andrew Yang, I believe the owner, was so nice and accommodating. If there was any issue, he was always ready to resolve it. I loved that the decor was more modern. The food was actually really really good and we tried a few other Chinese restaurants for our reception. The bathroom was also clean. A little mishap here and there with the service but I think that is because they dont do weddings often. The only downfall is the venue is small, so you can not have a large wedding reception....if that is what you are looking for. I had 180 guests and made the space work on the larger side of the restaurant - which I also fit in a photobooth. Would 1000000% recommend.
The food here tastes pretty good, the Peking duck was delicious however, the food took almost an hour to arrive. The price was reasonable and the restaurant was clean and nice. There s lots of room and we managed to get a table during a holiday.
A beautiful restaurant inside & out. Great dim sum. Need to get there when they open. Tables get filled within the first hour. Very tasty!!
Go to dim sum place!
Good food. The whiting fish is great.
Very busy Saturday morning reservation. We were seated immediately. Party of 5. Atmosphere was very nice. Washrooms were clean. Service was excellent. Food was well presented and served hot. Food was a bit on the bland side but still tasty. Food : 3/5
Very good restaurant for business dinner or family gathering. Short on breakfast dium sum for the time being.
The food is mostly good. Its just that its a little salty. The skinned duck wrap is too thick but the lettuce wrap is delicious
An average dim sum place, the environment was fine. The service was good. All the items were not bad.
Parking is limited and line up is horrible, however I love this restaurant
We popped by for some dim sum and this place was bustling. It was pretty busy but staff kept the lines moving. The food was really good and I feel like the variety offered was generous. Everything was hot and delicious. Id say this is one of the better dim sum places I have been to lately.
Our party of six was quite impressed by the overall food quality of our dinner. None of us had any previous dinner here though we had dimsum here before. By virtue of its convenient location just off Hwy 404, we picked it. Turns out to be a good choice. The crispy stuffed chicken was excellent; mind you, you have to order it ahead of time. Actually, all other surf and turf dishes are up to par. The taste are just right! Not too heavy, as would be the case for many other restaurants! Finally, the complimentary purple rice dessert rounds out our palette nicely. We all feel completely satisfied!
Below mediocre service and quality with way above mediocre price! As many people had dim sum before knows when you order pan fried or deep fried dim sum, there would always be condiments on the side like mayo, Worcestershire sauce or chili sauce there were none at this place. When I asked for it, the server simply said the cook already thought the taste is good so customers don t need to dip any condiments. So I gave it a taste and it was blend Fried noodles was too oily, and funny thing was half of it tasted salty for too much soy sauce and the other half was almost tasteless Good to know though they keep their service at the same level for all customers. The table next to us order shark fin soup, lobster and a steamed bass ordered some deserts and waited for 30-45min? And there was another table waited for 45minutes for their fried squid it came when they were about to get the bill The bill was about $100 for 2 people during lunch and I have to say, it was much better during pandemic than now. Oh right, almost forgot, the fried dumplings were not fully cooked and you might ask why not tell them to take it back to cook them again? I used to work in a Chinese restaurant and you never ever do that! You will not know what you eat after you make that request.
Their suckling pig is always great.
Not bad, quality ok, good selection of dim sum, most of them are L + pricing. Weekday, order before 11am, L M S all $5.5
A high-end Chinese restaurant with a humdrum, misleading name, offering refined, well executed seafood centric, Cantonese cuisine. Nowadays, Cantonese restaurants equipped with huge aquariums that are stocked with live seafood have become a common sight in the vibrant Richmond Hill/Markham Chinese culinary landscape. Nestled behind Richlane Mall, inside a secluded open-air strip plaza, atop of a small knoll, houses another such establishment. Tonight s dinner gathering, organized by another family member, is a follow-up to last week s going-away party. This time, the quality and caliber of food has been substantially elevated! For tonight, the meal will feature a Big Kahuna.....Live Alaskan Red King Crab prepared multiple ways! As for the wines?! Since IMHO, Riesling and Crab together are part of the Creator s plan, a fine bottle of German off-dry masterpiece to pair with the star is a requisite. In addition to another bottle of elusive perfume and style 2014 Chateau Lafite, a reliable Zenato Amarone was also added to the mix for pairing with the meat dishes. Our party of eight went through the following courses with gusto and avidity: - 9 pounds Alaskan King Crab prepared 3 ways. - Steamed legs with caramelized minced garlic on a bed of rice vermicelli - Wok fried body with Maggi Sauce - Steamed egg custard Chawanmushi with crab brains - Whole Cantonese Roasted Duck, Pei-Pa Style - Stirred fry Chinese Cauliflower with wind dried preserved meats - Braised Tofu with mixed mushrooms and Chinese Greens - Fried Pork Spare ribs with Preserved Olive Tapenade Glaze - Stirred fry beef with Chinese Kale ( Gai-Lan ) Complimentary desserts of Red bean dessert soup, Cherry flavored jello and Almond Cookies. Overall, the lovingly prepared food coupled with the superb friendly service created a highly satisfactory dinner experience. Standard of the cooking IMO ranked amongst some of GTA s best. During the past week, I had the good fortune to savor some extremely well executed Cantonese fare, first from StarChiva and now at Oriental Bistro. Indeed, I am grateful and blessed to live within such close proximity to some of GTA finest Chinese cuisine establishments.
There are better dim sum restaurants in the area. But this place is still decent.
First time try!! We came for dimsum lunch. Parking is terrible! Inside the restaurant Atmosphere is pleasant. The decor is whimsical. Not too too noisy. In general food is good! Service is prompt. They offer 10% in cash, only if you have VIP card. I will try dinner for sure
Busy dim sum place with good quality food.
Some food weren t hot enough when they were served to the table. We were forced to leave tips because the staff said it is a Canadian Culture but she wasn t the one who served us. I don t think there is a law for that tho. Food
Orient Bistro is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Richmond Hill and Markham area. I have been coming here for dim sum lunch for 6 years now. I love the atmosphere. It is conveniently located at 16th and Vogel (between 404 and Leslie). The food is excellent. My favourite is the beef balls and BBQ pork buns. If you like authentic Chinese food, you have to try this restaurant.
Great standard dim sum although slightly more expensive. Parking lot gets pretty full.
Nice ambience and very good food.
