Great food, service was very slow. Forgot food dishes and took 15 minutes between dishes so the first dishes served was already cold. Asked for water for everyone on the table and received one glass and four small plastic cups that looked like the cups you get from an airplane. Will pass on coming here again!

Came here for a last minute effort for a decent dinner after two other restaurants denied us and this restaurant was the first to take a stand to make our night better. I ordered one of the combos that came with a roast duck with green onion, sliced cucumber and hoisin sauce for self handcrafted wraps. The service blew my mind when the server came with the roasted duck to be individually sliced to show how fresh the food was by hand cutting them. The combo also came with soup, signature garlic pork ribs, stir-fried veggies with mushrooms and crispy fish. The food was real fresh and affordable. So close to our hotel that we decided to walk the next day and order the combos with curry crab, bok choy, and steamed fish with soy sauce and rice. The curry was real phenomenal like it has a similar taste to the curry used for Singapore noodles. Once we finished our meals, we’re offered desserts of homemade almond cookies, lychee jello, and creamy tapioca coconut dessert soup (Kawaling Pinoy). Not just the food but the server did everything for us. Most of the time, I usually prepare all plates and utensils for the server to make it easier for them; however, he just read our minds and got it done in seconds. Even when I have a half cup of tea, he doesn’t hesitate to wait until we ask for refills. Like he would fill all of our cups regardless. All in all, I write many 5-star reviews for many places, but this place is truly the most remarkable place that 100% deserves 6-stars. It’s extremely unforgettable experience. and having to come here twice on the same vacation and enjoying both times seems rare for me. Cash price is lower than credit. I definitely highly recommended for anyone passing by Richmond Hill. The restaurant is located in a mall-like building with “Times Square” highlighted.

Loved this place long even before the renovations and came back recently for brunch. Still the same people running it and some old staff. Fantastic dim sum and great service. No wait or lineup for Sunday brunch but that’ll soon change once word gets out. Like the new updates they made. Lots of extra staff for dimsum 👍

Have to rewrite the review here as the restaurant has changed into a dim sum place and no longer serve take away buns. Their dim sums were really nice with big portions. Egg tart is a must try. 😋

We went there on a Saturday around 1pm and got seats pretty quickly. The food was served dim sum style, so our orders arrived quickly. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and chicken feet for their delicious flavors. The congee was also excellent. One downside was that the ambiance was quite noisy so bare that in mind. Overall, pretty convenient place for quick Chinese food.

They have quite a variety of food. Yhe main highlight seems to be the pecking duck. We ordered the wraps and it was alright. The beans were really nice but the steamed fish was just decent. The food is a bit on the oily side. The server was very friendly though and it looked like a popular spot as people kept coming in. They also have a bakery section where you can buy buns and egg tarts.

Been to this restaurant a couple of times but never wrote a review. The prices are very reasonable to the portion sizes. I’m comparing it to downtown Toronto where the same meal would be 20% more (for obvious reasons). The food was pretty tasty and the service was better than most places. Everyone was very friendly and nice. I did not feel rushed to order or eat. Went on Valentine’s Day as well. Will definitely go again. I took photos of the menu, enjoy!

Since their renovations, this place has become terrible. The quality and quantity of the food is not worth it. I believe they are closed right now but may be pretending to be open to try and sell their business. Save your money and time and choose another restaurant in the plaza. My husband works in the area so we eat here at least once a week. This restaurant has an incredibly large menu and you (or your guests) are guaranteed to find something you like. I always order the same thing (a sizzling noodle dish). I ventured off and ordered a whole fish lately and it was amazing as well. They go all out for Chinese new years and our kids love it. You can buy buns and dimsum at a counter in the morning as well. Vegetarian options: There are many veg and tofu dishes.

I have been going to this place for over 30 years It used to be a family favourite I don t know exactly what happened except their quality of food service and cleanliness had all degraded steadily over those years They just seem to stop caring and stopped appreciating their customers. It is true. The affluent Chinese started to go to the many high-quality restaurants that have opened up over the years. eg Various hot-pot restaurants, korean bbq s, various buffets like dragon legend, different dining experiences. not to mention, Congee queen which straddles their location, one on seven and one on steeles I will miss Richmond Court s glory days eg When they were open until four in the morning And all kinds of characters would go in there after a night on the town for some good old Hong Kong style, Chinese food, cheap and cheerful Life must go on Thank you to the family that ran the business and employed so many people over the years Nothing lasts forever.

Food quality in dim-sum is quite nice and authentic, very different from the old Richmond Court, more expensive now, their service is fairly good. The only thing is that they charged tips automatically but did not mentioned it when we paid the tips again, so we ended up paying the tips twice. Not very happy about it, I dont mind paying some more, but the server should have told us.

Great spot now that theyve renovated, was getting run down before. We came for dim sum 15 minutes before the cut off to order and the service was really lacking. It seemed most of the staff were sitting down and eating. We had to get up multiple times to ask for things. Food was good as always and well worth the price.

After they transformed we went there more often. I like their updated renovation, however, the old chairs have brought the upscale renovation down. We tried their dim sum and we loved it. Portuguese chicken tart and steamed salmon head were very good! They offer special dim sum prices M-F 9-11 am. Gotta try them for dinner too.

I leave this review with a heavy heart, as I am having very conflicted feelings after dining here. I had been a patron of the previous restaurant of the same name for over 15 years and it was one of my favourite restaurants that offered an amazing selection of dishes at affordable prices. I still remember the days of 6.99 pork belly rice dish and 5.99 wonton soup. The new restaurant is a traditional dim sum setting, exactly like all the other dim sum restaurants. It has completely changed and nothing from the old Richmond court remains, the restaurant has lost its soul, it has lost what made it unique and interesting. The quality of the dishes are below average, many of them tasted very bland. Staff service was good but the food came much slower than other comparable dim sum restaurants. The newly renovated atmosphere is really good though, with good lighting and decor.

When you get that late night craving, this is the place to go. Open late, cheap, and always filling. It has the HK diner vibes for those late nights when you re just craving second dinner or even a quick lunch. Also has BBQ and a small bakery too if you hit these two things earlier in the day/evening. Edit: 08/21/24 It appears Richmond Court has pivoted to a different style of restauraunt, more towards formal cantonese dining. Food is still good but the menu that once contained many of the staples belonging to a HK late night cafe are now gone. No more late hours for this restaurant as well. Staff have remained the same so food and service are still absolutely amazing. They now serve a dim-sum service.

Food is below expectations. We ordered soup, BBQ pork, steamed fish, sweet and sour pork and choy sum. The seabass is MP and they told us its one and a half pound but its only about a pound when it came. They used to have good BBQ pork but not anymore. The only upside is that they have good desserts. Another issue is that we are supposed to get 10% off for cash payment but they excluded any BBQ items and seafood and its more like a 2.5% discount. Feel like we were tricked to pay cash. Be aware!

I can t order two set dinner (1x 6 person plus 1x 4 person set dinner) at the same table. I really don t understand why?

July 22, 2024

I had the absolute misfortune of dining at Richmond Court Restaurant recently, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. First, we ordered one plate of general tao chicken to split between two people. Of course we also had to paid extra for white rice. Portion size was not weak to say the least for the price and the chicken itself seemed to be cooked with some sort of store bought sauce dumped on top. The chicken itself was roughly $25 plus the rice for an additional $2.50. For the exorbitant prices they charge, I expected at least a modicum of quality, but what I received was far from acceptable. Service was also abysmal. The staff were inattentive and seemed annoyed by the mere presence of customers. It took an eternity to get anyones attention, and when they finally did take our order, they were curt and unfriendly. To add insult to injury, on top of the terrible value for dollar that was offered, the 18% tip was forcibly added to the bill, despite only having a party of two. This is an outrageous practice, especially considering the horrendous service provided. The experience was a money grab with no regard for customer satisfaction. In summary, avoid Richmond Court Restaurant at all costs. The food is terrible, the prices are outrageous, and the service is some of the worst Ive ever experienced. Save your money and your sanity dine elsewhere.

Richmond Court WAS a go to place, and it was somewhere which I took family and friends since the early 2000s. Prior to the renovations, there were many seating available, the servers were plenty - and social - the menu options were great, as it helped with kids dishes and a wide selection for everyone else. However, I revisited the restaurant this week and the seating is half, the servers pay no attention after you get your order, the menu prices are now over $40 a plate, and even has a seafood soup for $888! You kidding me, anyone who is willing to pay $888 plus tax and tip is not going to Richmond Court. About the menu, the options are so limited, you would first think eight page menu will have variety, you will be surprised how its lacking the basic menu options. They are attempting to be a high-end restaurant, with the low-end service. Speaking of tip, it is automatically added - even for a one or two people at the table. So they provide no after order service, and expect auto forced tip - REST IN PEACE Richmond Court. Its clear the previous owners sold the business and the new owners will struggle to operate. Perfect example of not understanding your business and clients. Really unfortunate to see this was the outcome, will not be visiting Richmond Court in the future, and great opportunity to consider the other restaurants in Times Square.

Food was a bit more pricy but still good. Service was good. A little too good that it can get overwhelming. They pace back and forth around you too much. Almost felt like they were prison guards watching you. lol But still service was excellent. They were right there when you need them. The cheap good Chinese food days are gone. My family and friends used to go to Richmond Court all the time and this was my first visit since their recent renovation. I went on Saturday before Mothers day. They had set menu for Mothers day which seem like they just added $10 to $15 dollars to its original menu price. We ordered one beef dish, one vege ($25), one noodle, and one seafood dish, scallop and shrimp with vege in XO sauce($40 or $45). Seafood dish came out and it had 5 scallop and no shrimp so we told waiter that there was no shrimp. They took it back and brought out with 4 shrimps but shrimp was half frozen. We sent it back and they cooked the shrimp and broght it out without apologies. We somewaht finished the meal and asked for the bill. Everything was fully charged and of course CASH ONLY, so typical. I was thinking maybe I had a bad day but I probably would not go back. Please let me know how your experiences were.

I saw many mixed reviews online, so I was curious to try this restaurant. As someone who enjoys dim sum, I found their food quality to be quite good. Regarding the prices, some old customers might compare their current prices to those of previous HK style tea restaurants, which is, of course, not possible. However, compared to other restaurants, their prices are relatively reasonable. I noticed that the staff all seem to be family members, so their service attitude is very enthusiastic. I believe the previous comments about their poor service might have been due to misunderstandings. My only criticism is that their chairs are not very comfortable, especially because the backrests are very reclined, which makes dining not very comfortable.

Updated 2024-02-20 It is a totally different restaurant after the renovation. It changed from a good value HK style cafe to a relatively pricy dim sum & dinner restaurant. The foods are reasonably good. The problem is there are already a few nearby dim sum restaurants with better taste and quality foods, price, and value. Original review: About to re-open after an upgrade renovation since November. I happen to stumble in today while the owner was checking with contractor on the final touch up. Gone is the bakery and BBQ take out area. It becomes a dim sum and formal dinner restaurant. I give a 3 star rating for now. Will write an update after I try it out.

This review is a WARNING for this is NOT the Richmond Court we have known and loved. NEW MENU $$$. Caters to higher end patrons. Making such a drastic change is a harm to everyone who cherished this place for decades for their affordable, classic, and cozy food. No more charm of the take-away/bakery section. This may be their downfall by shutting out 80% of their customer base while embracing the lucky ones who can afford a $25 meal (you can spend half that somewhere else for the same thing). Good luck I suppose. Really bummed out to lose a gem. BTW arsons targeted this place, which is sketchy. You can see the video online. The imagination wonders if they were hired for insurance money but maybe it was random.

The renovation is nice, but theyve added 50-70% to their prices and a lot of the dishes have smaller portions and more filler. They added mushrooms to beef dishes that didnt have mushrooms before (now half mushrooms and half beef, with a smaller portion), and the Cantonese style noodles only had 1 scallop and no squid anymore. If youre going to almost double your prices, you shouldnt be cheap with the ingredients.

The service was excellent but the food is 50% to 70% more than it was before and it did not taste great to warrant those kinds of prices. On top of that, there is a 12% service charge added to the bill for tip. I dont like that. I miss the old no-frills place that has great food at great prices. Even charged for tea. Unfortunately I will not be back. Best of luck to them in their re-branding and re-opening but I think they missed the mark on this one. Especially in todays market where people are looking for that no frills place with great price, great food. They are disappearing!

Loucy services! Food no good, price not cheap. Waiters not friendly. Not recommended ! Restaurant was New reopen last couple days. 2024-1-19. Dim Sum is fine but dinner no good. Taste bad and cheating. We ordered 5 lbs lobster and expected one big lobster but end up getting few lobsters totally in 5 lbs. ,**Add tips 13.5%before tax automatically

I loved this restaurant very much before the renovation. Now they changed all the menu .The ingredients of fried rice are so small that the price is not worth it. It doesnt taste as good as before! Won t go again!

Went there pretty early on Sunday at 8am. The place is empty . Tried youtiao and two breakfast set. Milk tea is great but was expecting a more sweeter version . Egg tarts were not ready yet and told will be ready by 9:30am only. Pork chop is tasty and love the condensed milk toast. Youtiao is very nice too

An original HK-style restaurant in Richmond Hill. Feels like youre stepping back into the 90s as soon as you walk in the door (old fixtures, furniture, and flooring). Aside from the decor, staff were friendly and courteous and food was solid.

This is our go to restaurant when we were still in university. It is great to come back again. Good food, good price, down to earth service.

December 22, 2023

This was my place to go to for so many years and it is so sad to see how bad it got right now. I have been here since they opened like 20-30 years ago, back when rave/clubbing was a thing. I still see a few staffs there that was probably worked for this restaurants since they opened. I always ordered my fav Honey garlic pork. It tasted bad a few times that I ordered over the year but I really hoped they can still make it right. I even tried to go at different time and day, just so I can catch the head chef cooking. The last time, I ordered it and it was so bad. How do you the chef served super OLD OVERDUE meat and mixed some fresh ones to completed a dish is questionable? I swear it was so obvious that the 2 meats tasted and looked so different that even my 7 years old daughter was questioning it. Anyhow, to served someone foods like that you know their staffs and cooks have no ethic or good conscious.

this place is a little bit of a dive, but it s not about the dining experience, it s about the food. If you want really great, authentic Chinese, dim sum, or any other dishes for that matter, you are in for a treat I do recommend ordering by phone and picking up because if you don t order ahead, you may miss out.

Classic hk restaurant with classic menu. Nothing on the menu really stood out, but also nothing on the menu to complain about. Ordered 4 rice/noodle dishes and each tasted as they should. Atmosphere-wise, the place definitely has a very dated feel, but at least it didnt try to look artificially modern. The store does leave buckets of wet leftovers beside random parts of the serving floor to be more efficient with collecting plates (and dumping the waste in those buckets) which is both intriguing and odd. At least it didnt smell!

Used to love the food here although not hygienic apparently but the take away was an expensive joke on us - we paid good money for food that looked like the underfed chef ate 50% of before the takeaway was put in their containers or perhaps after they had cooked it, they opted to eat half of the food and leave a little bit of the dishes for us- I would have found this funny except we didn t pay 50% off the bill because we didn t know that the chef WAS HUNGRY LOL Watch out for the quantity of food open up your take way - I know that it sounds crazy or just laugh it off - say the chef was hungry

Richmond Hill Top of Mind for authentic Hong Kong style Cafe ....few around but none seem to measure in terms of space, service and food quality ... Five stars because our family and friends have been coming to this place before year 2000...and we are still going.. People who work here appear happy to stay all these years... It is all about the People... Crowds have dropped significantly due to more competitions in the area... COVID years pushed traffic down lower... This location/mall is way underrated... None of Chinese Shopping/food mall in the area has spacious underground parking... For Canadian in Winter or Summer why go anywhere else...

The breakfast spread has got all the classics, from toast and eggs to ham and bacon, all cooked to perfection. their Hong Kong style milk tea -well You wont find anything like it around here. You might think the ambiance isnt all that, but thats part of its charm - its authentically HK Style !

Very RUDE waiter. I still gave 12% service fee just because it ll go to other people working in the restaurant (hopefully). It s not uncommon to have below standard service at a Hongkong style restaurant (dude I know coz I m a Hongkonger!) but this guy waited my table last night is just forking RUDE - grumpy face; didn t answer my question about a dish but just open the menu and pointed at it; and after I ordered he THREW that hard cover menu on the table nearby and I could hear the noise (the attitude too)!! I ordered the soft shell crab fried rice that someone mentioned in a previous Google review. It s just so so. No wok aroma , rice is not dry ( ) enough; minimal egg in it. So I gave only 3 stars. Anyway I will NEVERV GO BACK! People who wanna experience the top notch HORRIBLE service in a HK style cha chen tang should definitely go~~~~
