The tableware was collected too quickly, and it was clear that someone was waiting to enter the restaurant, but the whole dining experience was uncomfortable, or maybe the owner wanted to make people feel like they were still living in Hong Kong! We fully understand that this is the employee's job, but we also have to pay tips as a reward. The whole thing is not appropriate. We would rather go to a less busy restaurant to enjoy our meal!
My friend has been telling me about this place, and how there is one in Hong Kong. We decided to try it out. We ordered the following: 1. Baked chicken and mushroom with spaghetti (cream sauce) + iced milk tea - Lots of cream sauce, but no taste. 2. Portuguese style fish fillet in curry on rice + iced milk tea - Curry was watery, no flavour, but very spicy. 3. Fried thick rice noodle with beef + iced coffee and milk tea - Beef was on the dry side. Noodles were fresh. Generous portion sizes, but the dishes were a hit and miss. Would only return for the milk tea.
Great little HK Cafe place. Line up tablet available at door. Small seating area. Lunch combo is HK portion (small but good) around $14 each with rice and soup or drink. Great and very speedy service. Delicious smooth milk teas.
Visited on the weekend for lunch and it was very busy. The restaurant is small with limited seating. I waited in the car as there is no room inside to stand. You input your name and phone number to get a number and get on the waitlist. Took close to 20 minutes during peak during with over 10 tables ahead of me at the time I arrived. Tables moved quickly. The baked pork chop spaghetti is just ok. The cut of meat had alot of bones but tender. Also tried the onion sauce baked chicken with egg on rice. Looked more like tomato sauce and came with a sad piece of broccoli. I guess you can't complain for the value. Most sets were $13.99 and came with hk tea which was probably the best tasting of the meal. Unlikely to come back as I would rather pay a bit more for better quality and seating atmosphere.
Had a brunch today where breakfast menu ends at 11:30am and lunch menu starts 11am. Ordered the famous fried chicken leg and egg on rice. Picked black pepper sauce. Portion is good but I wish they have more sauce. Overall, the chicken leg is juicy. It will take a while to deep fry but worth the wait.
A great Hong Kong-style restaurant in Richmond Hill with a wide variety of tea set combos and stir-fried options. The prices are reasonable, and the servers are friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit!
Food was the reason we visited, therefore, we rated 3 stars. TO get to 5-stars, the HK Milk Tea needs to improve a lot as I had other HK Restaurant where their HK Milk Tea has real taste and enough milk. This location isn't the case unfortunately because no tea taste, just milk ! About the positive, the bun seems to be home-made which earns my 4 stars. The Atmosphere is really not for everyone as the seating is like HK, tight and packed, shoulder to shoulder, overheard conversation from other people sitting in the next table. The servers were nice but they rushed you. Last but not least, I think overall is ok to visit but not regularly. Price is not cheap, they charge same price as other HK restaurant. I guess since there is NO competition around the area, people settle whatever. As well, I don't think tips should be paying much as this is like a take out place - eat and run, not much of a service to justify.
One of the best HK style restaurant in Richmond Hill I’ve ever tried. I always come back for their food. Food always so fresh too! Highly recommend their curry beef, fried chicken drum stick, and milk tea!
One of the favorite food in wingtai
Milk Tea is exactly HK style Highly recommend, Food
If you want the taste of a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, I think this restaurant is worth recommending. Milk tea has its own unique tea aroma, unlike other restaurants that only have a sweet and milky taste. The beef satay is a diced dish, the satay sauce is flavorful, the meat is tender, and the noodles are just like most tea dishes. The noodles are like a diced dish with no leftover flavor.
Delicious
Rude service! It is typical service in Hong Kong. The waitress is not willing to provide service but they will ask for tips. The food quality is okay but the portion is so small compared other Hong Kong Cafe.
Satay beef instant noodle Hong Kong style.
Very good
Terrible service! Never dine there again! Food
i got there 2,3 times a week, i gotta say not all the food are great, good portion, but some of the other food is pretty so-so. i personally find that any stir fried is not that good, steam dishes is just okay. but overall the food is not bad, just not all dishes get an award. thats why i only go there 2 times for lunch, once a while weekend with family. ;-) afternoon tea with fried chicken leg is unfreaking-beatable. the line up is always crazy, they raised the price 2,3 times in 2024 and the line is back after 2 weeks. at least they will text tour phone so you can wait in the car, especially on weekend, prepare at least 30mins lineup. below is what i would pick in order * fried chicken leg * spring onion, ginger chicken * free soup from lunch, both red and hong kong style. * curry beef brisket * taiwanese pop corn chicken * chicken steak rice with black pepper sauce * French toast its typical chinese/hong kong restaurant, you order, you eat and you pay, so service is good as it is. at least they wont judge you dive into your work phone , and they wont do 20% min tips when you pay either debit. lol space is tight. you want to sit comfortable and drink a champagne, just order take out lol yeah get your expectations right. you cant compare $500 dinner for 2
Decent food. Service was very good. Reasonably priced Cantonese cuisine.
Taste good
Good food! Nice staff! Fast service too !
FLIES!!! So many flies flying around in the restaurant. There was also a musty smell, like wet towels..
I have never tried this feeling before. It really feels like I have returned to a Hong Kong tea restaurant. Simply top notch.
Lunch combo portion small, making them expensive. Fried chicken wings $10 for 4, do not taste good at all. In general food tastes good, service not bad. Not a comfy environment. Parking is ok too.
A very delicious tea restaurant run by Hong Kong people. Will definitely come again if I have the chance. The taste is really the same as Hong Kong.
Delicious HK-styled food, delicious Hong Kong-style food.
Bad service, they expect you to sit beside the garbage bin
Servers are really rude
Cozy HK style cafe with great combos and yummy food! Its still relatively new so go early if you want a table at lunch time and not many seats. Definitely worth a shot if its local to you. I give them 8.5/10!
This place is very authentic in the sense that the service is horrible. They don t just ignore you, they act like you are inconveniencing them by being there. They didn t give us water until I asked for it AFTER the food already came. They also didn t provide us with their small dish lunch menu and I have no idea why. The baked pork chop rice only has one pork chop in it (not an issue). But the sauce that is on it is very little. At about 2/3 through the rice, you run out of sauce and pork chop. So you are just left eating egg fried rice. The deep fried chicken wings give you two whole wings (they split the drumlette with the middle). So it s not a lot of food. The seating is also terribly cramped. Like if they just removed two tables it would be more comfortable. The way it currently is, either your back or you leg is in the throughway.
A friend recommended this place to me, and it takes me almost half an hour to drive here, but its totally worth it. Every time I come, I have a hard time choosing because everything is so delicious.
tasty
Disappointed as its overrated, food is just so so. I wont return as therere other places have better food.
Not sure its my personal idea or not, is way too soft. It tastes like dimming there for a while, totally soft.
Good food, but poor service!! The two young staffs were rude, inattentive and make the whole experience frustrating.
5th and last time going there..... staff has more attitude than the customer, have to ask MULTIPLE times for water and to take the order. we waited a long time for the take out when the restaurant is half empty, and was given ONLY when asked?! (but believe or not the takeout was ready by the counter for a long time)
Great atmosphere. Fast and friendly service. Super value for a Hong Kong style cha chan teng. A must try if you are uptown.
Authentic HK experience! Cramped spaces, Dap Toi (sharing tables with strangers), borderline rude service, want you out of there the moment your done. Love it. For Canadians, this might seem terrible, but for HKers, its just like home. Great cha chan teng.
Horrible service with the old lady at the cashier
Their deep fried chicken thighs with fries tastes really good. We also tried their scrambled egg with ham, bread is not fresh, ham is super thin, egg is not juicy. Curry beef on noodles, soup bass not hot enough,
Not good not bad.
Great food, decent price. Clean condiment containers - and very nice chili oil!
Fried chicken drum stick is the best in town
Both baked rice are delicious, and the frozen milk tea is perfect!
Cannot really judge on the service and environment (always ordering uber eat) but the food, man, this is soooooo authentic!
I love this HK style restaurant a lot until today. I specifically asked for chicken thighs on my order by paying the extra $2. However the dish is no different than what I got in the past few times. You can clearly see a whole chicken wing (chopped into 3 big parts) and a big chicken breast white meat, plus couple bony parts that didn t have any meat on them. I let the waiter know about my special order and softly said please take off the $2 added for chicken thighs because I didn t get what I paid for. He was willing to help but funny though he had to take my gently eating dish to the boss to ask for approval. Finally I was told they will not charge the extra $2. That was a happy resolution at the end. However, this experience really ruined my enjoyment because I got stuck with eating something I didn t like, not to say that I waited 30 minutes for my table. I could have gone somewhere else and ate something I liked without waiting. The fact that I picked this restaurant and willing to wait was 100% due to the chicken dish that I particularly crave for. Now that I can t guarantee what I want, I may choose to go somewhere else going forward.
Food was good. Price is reasonable and decent portion. I would come back.
Typical Chinese restaurant. Turn over is quite fast so you do not need to wait long for a table
Cant get worse service than this
Went for lunch. Service is great and food was quick and tasty, and affordable.
Our party of 3 was sitting at a 4 person table and the host actually put a stranger on our empty seat in the middle of our meal!!! First time ever had to do this here in Canada. Would never go again!
Update: The attitude is getting worse, to the point that they dont even say thank you. They dont deserve my money. Great HK style restaurant. Reasonable wait time. Service is mediocre at best. They are friendly to the regulars, but not the best towards new customers.
This was my second time at this HK-style cafe. The first visit, shortly after they opened, was already disappointing. Unfortunately, this time was no different. I understand that service and atmosphere at HK-style cafes is typically basic, and this place was no exception. I ordered their afternoon tea set, which included an egg and luncheon meat sandwich. They asked if I wanted to pay an extra 50 cents to have the bread toasted. I declined, expecting the bread to be at least fresh. However, the bread turned out to be stale. Paying extra to toast stale bread seems absurd. My partner ordered the chicken leg and egg on rice, which wasnt bad. However, he ordered an iced milk tea, but it came as a hot drink instead. When the bill arrived, we were charged for a cold drink. We had to inform them that the drink came hot, and they readjusted the bill. I don t think we ll be giving them a third chance.
Hong Kong tea here is one of the best in town. Highly recommend everyone to try their crispy deep fried chicken leg and free range chicken. Me and my family like it so much. Staffs are nice and friendly. Service is fast and efficient. Traditional Hong Kong style restaurant that everyone must come and visit in Richmond Hill
Love the music first of all, the cafe played the pop music introduced between 1980-late 2010. Fast service, staff were nice. Food was great, I dined in and ordered take out. First time visited and will definitely return if staying in Richmond Hill again.
You know its authentic Hongkong Cafe when they pack too many tables into such a small space and the waitresses are rude AF. The food was not bad but the service and overall environment ruined the dining experience. The price is affordable and reasonable tho.
Delicious Food , can t expect much with this price. Not a big restaurant, may need to wait. Breakfast starts from 8:30 am .
the restaurant was very delicious! I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
This place is surprisingly very busy. We got there at about 1:30pm on Saturday and had to wait at least 10 minutes for a table of 4. The place is also jam packed. The hallway to the washroom is very narrow. Having said that, I do like the atmosphere though; cramped but cozy. Service is pretty standard for a typical HK style cafe; you dont go to places like this for service anyways. Having said that, the staff were polite and I had no problems with them. The food... is ok. It fills you up but not the most flavorful. Having said that, I dont think there are any other HK style cafes close by to there, which is why its probably always full. Price is fair and the food comes out quickly. If you can go during off-peak hours, this place will satisfy any cravings you might have.
We tried their afternoon tea specials. The fried chicken leg was very delicious and big We came here for breakfast before. It was also very tasty. 4/27/2024 - Recently we had a bad experience with this restaurant. We came here for lunch and took a number to wait in queue. An elderly man came after us. When our 4-seat table was available, the staff gave the table to him and he jumped the line. We complained to her but she just explained it away. Apparently she knew him. That was so unfair to the people waiting in line. The elderly man took the 4-seat table and waited for 1/2 hour without ordering any food. He kept calling people. As his friends or family members didn t come, he left the restaurant. We were more pissed off with this. This special treatment to the restaurant s friends wasted 1/2 hour of many customers in line. The restaurant staff should never play favoritism to their friends or regular customers!!!
I can say they make one of the best beef satay here in GTA. Milk tea is also what we used to have in Hong Kong. Would have given them 5 star if the guy at the cashier (the boss?) does not have a stony face.
Very local HK style food, a good restaurant worth to visit. Yummy food and quick response staff. Dietary restrictions: Dont go if u have dietary restrictions. Parking: Hope they will open a branch in North York
Good selection of foods. The place is a bit small but overall great.
Amazing food with hk cha chan tang vibe. Obviously more spacious than hk. My daughter had curry and she approved haha I had it was perfect, not oily and flavourful. My wife had toast and she didn t disappoint. I also ordered the deep fried chicken leg and it was sooooo good. I left very satisfied
Good price for quality, recommend. Definitely busy and not that spacious
Good food!
We drove by this HK cafe/ restaurant a couple of times and finally gave it a try on a Saturday early afternoon. You have to enter your phone number on the touch screen to get a table. On that day, we arrived at around 1145am, and got seated at around 12pm... quite fast in my opinion. The size of the cafe/ restaurant wasnt big, and with its constant busy buzz, the space was a bit clustered. The menu contained pretty much most of the items you can think of in a traditional HK cafe- rice, noodles, all day breakfast, HK style oven baked spaghetti, etc. We placed our order quite quickly as we had the time to decide what we wanted while waiting for our table. The staff were nice throughout the whole expereince- from take our ordering to getting the bill. We have ordered a Malaysian style fried ho fan (rice noodles) and a deep fried fish filet w/ sausage and egg and a side salad from their all day menu. The portion of the rice noodle was quite generous, more than enough to be shared amongst the 2 of us. Taste wise, its strong on the curry flavour, yet missing a hint of salt to bring out those hidden savoury taste. However, this can easily be fixed with a small dash of the chili oil. The fish filet was fried perfectly with a crispy thin batter, sizing was an adult sized palm. The side salad was spring mix drizzled with sweet balsamic vinaigrette. Overall, pricing was decent at less than $15 per dish, and portioned quite generously.
busy place, but good food and services
Very nice Hong Kong cha charn teng food served. Very warm service tendered too.
A bit more hyped for what it was but I would return to try out other dishes. We got a mix of dishes here (some of the specials, breakfast and others). It was really packed and they really cater to the Chinese clientele so if you don t speak the language, come with friends that do or what I did was point at what I wanted. The curry was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. It s cheaper than Phoenix and tastes similar.
Very authentic HK style tea cafe, good prices, it carries many food varieties/options, dish portion is reasonable, not too large or small. The restaurant close very early at 6pm Parking: Large parking lot
Finally, I gave this place a try for lunch. There was a bit of a wait. The place is small. Its good it has an automatic queue and notification system service was good and polite for a cha Chen teng the food was good and hk tea was good too wish the meal came with soup as some places have overall good expirence will come back -pork chop really soft -pork strip chow mein good
Good food and price is competitive.
There is too little meat in the barbecued pork rice. How can you put so little meat at this price?
First time here. The place is a bit small but busy. Service is good. We ordered the bake pork chop rice and the chicken with rice and fried egg. The dishes are not big. The tomato sauce on the pork chop rice has not much taste. The chicken rice is just so so. The dishes comes with tea or coffee. The milk tea is decent. I like their coffee, I think it is better than most other HK style restaurants.
Taste not very good !
I <3 Hong Tong Wing Tai Restaurant. Food is AMAZING. Staff is AMAZING. I <3 Hong Tong Wing Tai Restaurant soooo much!! 10/10 dining experience ;)
Great restaurant, amazing vibes and atmosphere, and amazing service, the owners are very kind and friendly. Food itself is really good for the price.
Came here on a Saturday morning for lunch, they were busy but queuing system worked well. Customer service is fast and efficient, as expected from a HK cafe. My curry spaghetti with fried fillet was good. Pasta was hot and dry, the fillet was fried very well. The only knock was the watery curry. Portions were pretty good! Will come back to try other dishes in the future.
Average standard on HK style food and drinks.
I only came for breakfast, ordered the preserved vegetables rice noodle soup which comes with a side of egg, ham and toast. It was very filling met my expectations and I especially enjoyed the soup broth (Bonito based). I would come back, but it was quite busy
Affordable and reasonable prices. Food was good for the money. The Milk Tea was potent in a good way. Atmosphere was spoiled big time by the blinding white / cold LED lights. They make the place look economy (I dont want to say cheap) ... We have repeated our patronage of this place a few times....but not as frequently as other more pleasant HKG style s.
The food has no taste. The spaces between the tables are too close to each one.
Yummy Hong Kong Style Fried Chicken Leg w/ Rice, worth the wait!
praise big chicken drumstick Too late to take a photo half left
Good but not as people expected
Good service. Space / atmosphere is typical of a HK Cafe. We notice the meat chops ( / ) have been getting more and more salty over time. Need to ease up on the salt and spice ... otherwise, good especially with the milk tea or . Good luck!
Rude service. I asked for a dipping sauce with the chicken and the waitress yelled that this particular type of chicken doesnt come with dipping sauce. I asked her nicely can you please give us the sauce and she said NO. When we spoke with the cashier, she said the sauce is available for a $1, which we would have gladly paid. Lots of other options in the GTA with much better service and food, and where dipping sauce is provided with chicken without the waitress rolling her eyes (Oh, wait, after doing that, she didnt even give us the sauce). Other than that the Char Siu (BBQ pork) with macaroni for the breakfast was dark, hard and salty. Chicken was alright. Drinks were average.
Owners are very kind!
such good service, will definitely come back!!
Food was great overall, except for the sweet and sour pork that was not crunchy at all. Service was so-so. There were 5 of us (3 adults and 2 kids). We ordered 3 entrees and were only given 3 sets of utensils.
Food is OK, no surprise.
The overall food supply and taste are also running smoothly and there are a lot of people. Frozen drinks require less ice, but still plenty of ice There is room for change Come on
The pineapple oil and satay beef doll noodles are both delicious!
We tried the breakfast and lunch (different days) and both experiences were amazing. Great food - tasty, authentic HK style, and inexpensive. I m not sure why people complained about service as the place was busy, yet my food still came out fast and hot. Highly recommend the pork chop bun, curry beef brisket, pineapple bun, toast, coffee, etc. Too many dishes to list, just go make multiple trips and try EVERYTHING!
Space is limited.
Hong Kong style Cha Chan Tang.
Every dish was delicious! Great friendly service.
Food
Great food and service..it does need more space..
Takeaway, the meat is not fresh and smelly, just throw it away, a waste of money and time
Well enough
Traditional Hong Kong style fast food at reasonable prices
food and service are good, just the place is little tight.
Packed for breakfast even on a weekday. Nice to have a hk Cafe in this area.
Good food and staff. Lots of people during lunch hour.
Good selection of food, Staff super friendly. its a small shop but good enough it does get busy as the day goes on. pretty fast service There is a good amount of parking too
Portion slightly insufficient
lunch set is very economic. Authentic Hong Kong feeling.
Hk style milk tea, lemon tea are tasty and authentic. The deep chicken drumstrick w fries or green salad is yummy. Drumstick size is big n u will like the portion. I personally will select green salad to ease my guilt eating deep fried foods! The simple green salads look like u can get it from Costco. Nothing fancy in there. I also tried their club sandwiches abd the eggs n ham sandwiches. U wont disappointed n they are very much hk style club sandwiches. Portion is good n many ingredients such as meat patty, spam, egg, some greens etc inside. Typical hk style club sandwiches and taste quite good too. For take out, their famous chicken dish is awesome, plenty green onion n the sauce is very tasty. Highly recommend. I also ordered the tufu bean curds w fish fillets rice box. It tastes ok n no suprise. However, the deep fried sweet n sour port waa a huge disappointment. I order the dish version 2 dollars extra than the rice box. I was suprised the portion is small. It tastes not crunchy n kinda blend. Not recommend but this place offers good foods n drinks (cold lemon tea is tasty n not bitter)most of them their foods are well made. If u crave for hk style cafe foods, u should try there. Line can be long because the place is kind small.
My children and I often go to this restaurant. Every dish is delicious, the food is served quickly, the price is moderate, and the business is so busy that there is often a wait for a table.
waiter got the orders wrong fried chicken leg ok pineapple bun no good, itwas cold Food : 3/5
I didn t get to eat the tail of the steak, so I m late and have to wait? you
Great place
There may very well be other HK style cafes that taste better than this one in the GTA(Point Eatery comes to mind, but is also more expensive), but in terms of authenticity, this cafe taste just like the ones in HK. The tomato sauce, the black pepper sauce, how they fry the chicken- reminds me of HK.
The onion juice is a traditional orange juice, not like the usual brown gravy with onions. Yes, yes!
Very good HK Style Milk Tea in the RH area. Happy youve opened up on the area.
My go to place.
The fried spleen is so big, you won t leave a piece behind after you eat it, it feels like Hong Kong style.
Nice hk style milk tea and satay noodle set. Friendly staff.
Simple Hong Kong style Cha Chaan Teng restaurant with quality food and efficient service. We were in and out within 40 minutes.
really bad service they re so rude Food
Service is excellent, wish the breakfast noodle is bigger portion but taste is good.
Pretty good HK style cafe in Richmond Hill. Went around 12:30pm on a Thursday and it was packed but fast service allowed for quick turnaround time. We were seated within 5 mins (table for 2). Finally found a place that has decent baked spaghetti bolognese, not too sweet or tangy, equivalent to Hollywood cafe. A small and busy place, with tight spacing so I would not recommend if you have young kids with you. Overall good and would go back.
I didnt get anything I asked for, I didnt communicate early, the management was chaotic, and I waited for half an hour and got nothing.
Authentic HK style food. Tasty milk tea. The restaurant is tiny and the tables and chairs are close to each other. Not a place to go if you have small kids. It s packed during lunch hours
An emblematic, casual Hong Kong style hole-in-the-wall, up-rooted from across the ocean! Located in Hong Kong s outskirt Tsuen Wan district, this once popular and long standing colonial style cafe is no more! Uprooted his family and business from the ex-crown colony a while back, the owner brought with him his business s formula for success but most importantly, the original menu and re-planted them in Richmond Hill!.....Lucky us!! Known for its iconic flavourful, ultra-crispy and super-juicy, deep-fried Chicken legs as well as their great value, Hong Kong style afternoon tea and comfort food. It was therefore not surprising that hungry locals flocked to and packed this place way past the normal busy lunch hour. For our late lunch/early afternoon tea, we ordered a Baked mixed mushroom Chicken A-La-King on rice casseole .....this comes with a meaty, deeply complex Hong Kong style Russian Borscht nicely seasoned with just the right level of spicy heat. As well, adding an order of their iconic Deep fried Chicken Leg ( paired with mixed greens and Balsamic reduction dressing ) together with a cup of their classic, award winning Hong Kong style milk tea was a no brainer. A delightful meal with an excessive amount of food to take home, the final bill of only $25 was a most welcoming surprise! BTW, they call it a day and close at 6.00pm!!
Servers doesn t feel very experienced. Orders tend to take quite long to be served. Food is alright.
Hong Kong milk tea tastes better than Hong Kong Sha Niu.
The boss lady is so good. . . Ive tried both dine-in and takeout, but I always get black noodles lol Why dont you do business happily? . . Food is ok, service is just fine. . . (Maybe the boss lady will not be happy here because the other guys remember to be nice)
Everything is OK, but it s a pity that the inside is shallow and narrow!
Food is OK, but we dont like sweeping the floor when we r eating
Reasonable price
