We specialize in Japanese sushi take-out.
Always missing something, not first time. This time I ordered the Deluxe Chirasin Don, but no mushrooms. But the taste was good.
Bet you can't find another place that offers competitive pricing to match with its top quality fish anywhere else. Ai sushi RH is our go-to for platters. Always fresh and tastes great!
Huge variety of sushi, and for sure, unbeatable prices for party trays!
This place has been around for a long time, and really focuses on the efficiency of its takeout line of business. I've been coming here occasionally for about 5 years or so and have never been disappointed. You can get quite a bit of food for a pretty reasonable price, as for $50 you can get a 60 piece tray that includes sashimi. I also appreciated that they read my note to not put any spice on the rolls as my elderly father is not able to eat spicy food, but the lady there was nice enough to give us a small container of the spicy mayo so that we could put some of it on ourselves if we wanted. That was very sweet and I appreciated it. Note that it is debit or cash only.
One of the best sushi restaurants I've tasted! The fish is always fresh, and the prices are very reasonable. While the parking slots are limited, the plaza is usually not too busy, so I can usually find a spot. Ordering takeout is convenient, but there are also seats available in the restaurant, making it a great option for a quick meal. Highly recommend.
Absolutely insulting. If I wanted just salmon sashimi, I would have asked for it. When 9 out of 16 pieces are salmon, that doesn't qualify as an 'assortment', especially when you used to include other kinds. Rather than tricking your customers, perhaps be honest and charge more to include more expensive cuts. This is unacceptable and a great way to lose customers. After checking other reviews, I'm glad I didn't order the 30 piece 'assortment'; that poor customer got shafted with mostly salmon too! Not cool.
We ordered 30 assorted sashimi, one Ai roll, and one black dragon roll. I understand if this place is going through tougher times (I am not sure if it is) but the number of pieces in the black dragon roll seem to have been cut in half (8 pieces to 4). We were charged the same price (the same one when we used to get 8 pieces of this roll). So... is the price per piece of roll doubled or something? Moreover, almost half of the assorted sashimi is salmon. That is not "assorted" enough. Perhaps a bit more variety (maybe add one more kind of fish like Hamachi) would make this better. EDIT: Minor grammatical fixes. I hope this place will do better when it comes to portion sizes.
An exceptionally clean and spacious for a takeout sushi spot. They have a self-serve sitting area with beautiful wooden furniture. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the mango tango rolls which were both big and incredibly tasty. The Grill BBQ Eel on rice, it was delicious too. The staff members were friendly.
Tasty sushi, good price
Food waste, cut corners, and expensive. Food waste, cutting corners, and high prices.
Stable quality!
This sushi joint specializes in takeout platters. Great value for the number of pieces you get. Parking: Plaza parking, not large but its enough for all the small stores located in the plaza.
Exceptionally long delay in the store!
Excellent fresh sashimi and sushi
Great place for sushi take out!
Sashimi is really fresh. But server is not friendly
Get the platters to go. Can t find similar for price and quality anywhere else. Best
We ordered the 100 pieces sashimi and sushi party platter. The sashimi was very nice but the sushi was too much salmon. Didnt have unagi or egg. Needs more variety.
Efficient and friendly service with great food quality. I definitely recommend it.
The best sushi to take away in Richmond Hill. Trust the chef with one of the sushi, maki, sashimi or platter combos, you will not be disappointed. The best kept secret! the price is super reasonable. I recommend it 100%.
Our go-to for sushi/sashimi takeout when in York Region. Highly recommend. Many platter choices to choose from.
Good price, take out order was on time, delicious sushi and good quality
Maki tray is good too share. They have upgrade to nice platers from use the takeout trays at the table.
We visited this place for the first time today. The food and service were amazing! Food was fresh and tasted great! Very recommended!
our server kathyna is an awesome server, she knows what she is doing and she is very well experienced and very efficient and professional!
yummy sushi that is consistently good quality!! love this place
Bad service. Cash only even though they charge taxes.
We order almost every Sunday from there, this is not the first it missing something or got the wrong order, when during the rush hour we understand, so we change to non peak time to pick up the food, today we got the food and they forgot the soy sauce and wasabi, unbelievable, unacceptable..... Very disappointed!!!
Fresh Sasumi, great food
very good
I agreed with Karx Lee below that the reception staff indeed has an attitude problem. My family has been getting sushi takeouts from Ai Richmond Hill for over 4 years now, despite most of the interactions with the reception staff were unpleasant, you could still get decent food quality for most of the times. However, today was our last try, the online order was still chaotic, lack of transparency and when I sought for help, the attitude of the reception staff really made me believe again that the shop did not value a bit for my business order.
Fresh and tasty!
I always ordered party tray there Excellent Food
Unbelievable this fish bone hid deeply in the maki roll:) almost kills me. eating sushi for almost 20years, never had a fish bone from my dish never come back
Brawl Stars girl gave me a discount so lovely the wasabi is not very good though
Good value
My go to sushi place. Fresh ingredients with reasonable price. Fast pick up process when picking up my take out.
The sushi is good, the price is reasonable. Its good to take out orders and only a few tables are in the shop for a quick bite.
The sushi here is top grade and so good!!! A must try place!!! Mango Tango, Honey Mustard and the Veggie Dragon rolls are my goto!!
Salmon are really fresh and also cheap
we ordered 16 assorted sashimi platter for $16, we didn t expect being given any premium fish or other seafood, but we definitely didn t expect more than half of them to be salmon. scam
Average experience. Worth a try.
We ordered takeout 2 times over the past 2 months and price and quality is great! We ordered the party trays both times.
Sashimi are very fresh and the prices are very good.
Sashimi and sushi are really fresh
High quality, fresh Japanese food, clean environment, excellent price, Good customer service, reasonable portion. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian poke bowl option Kid-friendliness: Kids friendly
Always delicious and an absolute hit with family and friends.
Great deal for take out. Though the place could be quite busy. Sometimes the take out order is ready for pick up at the pre-order time, but Ive also had times where I had to wait 30+ minutes beyond the take out order time that was placed a few hours in advance.
It s my first choice for takeout. It s close to home, the food is fresh, and the portions are small. I feel happy eating there.
My family and I have been loyal patrons of your restaurant since the pandemic began, a time that coincides with your opening, I believe. Weve consistently enjoyed your sushi, making it our go-to choice for several family gatherings each month, and especially during significant events, weve always opted for your takeout. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disheartened. During my last visit, when inquiring about whether there is a discount for paying in cash - which goes against the law but is mandatory for your restaurant, I was met with a dismissive and rude response from the reception staff. The person stated, all our loyal customers already know this... in a tone that I found condescending and unwelcoming. Being a loyal customer, I expected to be treated with a certain level of respect and courtesy, which was glaringly absent in this interaction. Even if I were a new customer, such rudeness would be unacceptable. This experience has led me to realize that perhaps your establishment no longer values our patronage. My family, friends, and I have decided it will be our last visit to your restaurant. Its unfortunate that a single incident has overshadowed our years of positive experiences, but customer service is crucial, and on this occasion, it was markedly lacking.
Excellent Japanese Sushi and Sashimi for take out. The restaurant has a simple dining setup for dine in which is only good for a quick bite!
Sashimi is not fresh, the rice is too sour and loose
We usually order sushi from AI Richmond hill. As usual, we ordered the sushi & sashimi platter. When I opened it, we saw a piece of hair inside. And the sashimi wasn t fresh,We brought it back to Ai sushi, they did not offer to refund or replace with a new platter. They just said next order will be 50% off. The point you as a food provider, you did not take this issue seriously. This is about food quality which is not acceptable. I was really disappointed at how they ignored of this issue. so yea, never go back again..
We used to come here all the time but weve been disappointed the last 2 times. Its like the people making the sushi have changed. Weve had rolls that fall apart and cuts of fish that are hard to chew. Its a shame because we used to order from them at least once a month because they had good value. But apparently the owners changed and so did the head chef. We kind of know them might not be true so dont take my word for it but the food changed. I would be willing to try them again if I was incentived. I would recommend giving them a chance maybe Ive had bad luck. Its usually my better half placing the order and picking it up and shes chinese so its not like their is a lack of communication or anything else at play. I miss the days when I could drive 4 minutes to get good sushi from your establishment. Have things changed?
Fresh food with great value and presentation- would eat here more often if I could. The sushi quality is one of the highest Ive found in the area. Highly recommend !
AI sushi has always been our go to! Got the 80 piece sushi-sashimi platter for takeout. Quality is definitely still worth the price! Food
Shocking service and a shocking owner who treats his customers like dirt, the verity and quality also leave very much to be desired, they are a complete rip off and revenue canada also need to look into their cash only policy as no doubt the are hiding it all under the table.
Fresh foods and reasonable price. 100 pcs enough for 5-6 people.
Assorted Sushi Sashimi - 100pcs tray was absolutely fabulously put together! Visually appealing, everything tasted so fresh, and a great deal for the price ($80 including tax)!!! Mix of sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi ... salmon was delicious, especially the two slices from the belly. So much variety to choose from ... few pieces of fresh scallop, squid, clam, shrimp, tuna, imitation crab ... to California rolls with masago, salmon wrapped, tuna, avocado and cucumber plus more! Very appreciative of the cuts and portions of the fish...it was normal and very filling; Ive come across some places, where to save money, the slices are very thin for sashimi and the rolls are cut into smaller pieces. Will definitely order again! Trays are perfect for events or any meal of the day. You can choose different number of pieces, depending on party size.
I have found my gastronomic haven at Ai Sushi, and I cant help but express my sheer delight with this culinary gem in the GTA. The food quality is nothing short of spectacular; each bite is a symphony of flavors that transports your taste buds to sushi nirvana. The staff here are more than just courteous; they are genuinely friendly and welcoming. Their warmth adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. From the moment you step in, you are greeted with smiles and a genuine enthusiasm to make your visit memorable. Cleanliness is clearly a priority at Ai Sushi. The pristine environment gives off an aura of sophistication, making you feel like youre in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Its evident that they take pride in maintaining impeccable hygiene standards. What truly sets Ai Sushi apart is their mastery in the art of take-out dining. The way they present the food is nothing short of a work of art. Even in the simplicity of take-out, they manage to elevate the experience to a whole new level. The attention to detail is remarkable, showcasing their commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience whether you choose to dine in or take out. I find myself returning to Ai Sushi time and again, and each visit reaffirms that this is the best sushi spot in the GTA. If youre a sushi enthusiast or just someone looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Ai Sushi is the place to be. The combination of extraordinary food quality, delightful staff, and a spotlessly clean ambiance make it a true standout in the culinary landscape. Highly recommended!
They can maintain the food quality at New Years Eve, actually even better than I thought! Definitely will stick with them (only at Richmond Hill location)
This is a takeout place only and this time the wait for far too long for a pre-order. If you are having too many orders....you will need to hire extra staff to accommodate the demand. Over an hour wait is not acceptable! The food was decent though I have to say but management requires more help!
Fresh, good size sashimi, good prices, good value, will return
Not fresh
Fresh ingredients, great value. Our favorite sushi take out restaurant.
Ai Sushi is always my go-to takeout sushi/sashimi spot. The platters (sushi, sashimi or both) are of great quality and an even better price point. The store is always extremely busy, but staff are always friendly and welcoming. Rolls are always thick and loaded. Apps are delicious as well. Unagi rice is amazing too. Recommended to pre-order at an earlier time than anticipated pickup (1-2 hours) because I find that my order pickup time is usually delayed by 1 hour or so. But understandable, because they are so busy!
Always great, very generous with the size of their sashimi. My neighbourhood go to.
I just come for pick up as there arent really many seats. The fish is always fresh and its always ready on time. Portions are a good value for the price.
Goood price and great sushi. Greta value
Good sushi for a very good price! Especially their party trays. Keep in mind its cash only. The sushi fish tastes great and the rice is properly seasoned and formed. The only down side is that the small parking lot is a bit difficult to find a spot in during peak hours.
Whether you are calling in or placing an order online, you will always be left impressed at the amazing value here at AiSushi. Definitely recommend their party platters and the assorted sashimi!
Large sushi variety. There are many tray options with diffrent types and sizes. The place hoewver only features 1 paper menu for the entire store with adjustments made in pen making it harder to understand. There are boxes and supplies everywhere making the place look preety messy and disorganized. Its heavily take-out oriented making dine in experience far less enjoyable. The food is great but service and amphora not so much
Consistent, best bang for your buck when feeding a crowd, every time. Order early during busy holiday season, we placed our Christmas Eve order at the beginning of December.
This place represents quality and value. Its our go-to place for sushi takeout.
We took our order home and found one item missed out but already paid for. Called the shop and they confirmed that item was temporarily unavailable and they neither took it off the bill nor offer any alternative food. Ridiculous!!!
You can eat sushi and rolls for a relatively cheap price
I decide to try this after checking the various Facebook reviews. I got a takeout 100 piece sushi/sashimi tray and it was OKAY. Like many people, Ive tried different party trays from different Japanese restaurants. Neither the CHOICES in sushi roll or the sashimi on the tray wowed me. I did not feel that there were many choices in either of the selection compare to trays of different Japanese restaurant that I have gone to ordering in the same size. What I ordered was good enough, which really should be the minimum standards nowadays but I dont think its enough for me to come back. While the price was good for the size of tray I had, I would rather pay more for better selection and quality. You get what you pay for and in this case it was OKAY.
Friendly service and fair price
Never order a party tray early, because they serve old smelly raw fish. We ordered 80 piece roll tray today, and the sashmi smelled. Guessing it s left over from yesterday. Have been a long time customer, but this is last time.
BEST deal you will ever find for the platters. - Quality of fish is excellent since they have so much volume sold everyday. - Decent assorted varieties for your sashimi & sushi. Its not the cheap, bare-minimum salmon-tuna-tilapia combo. - Rice is seasoned! (Id prefer more seasoning, but compared to other mushy no season rice from other places, I cant complain)
Delicious food at a reasonable price. Great customer service!
Not that fresh. And they use white plastic bag to cover my platter so I didn t find it is not fresh. Not going to order again.
Fish is grey (supposed to be tuna), disgusting Surf clam has sand in it I would not recommend this to anyone and won t be back
Good quality with budget price. Two thumbs up Food
Sushi are fresh. Price is reasonable. The large platter will be better if it has more nigiri sushi than rolls.
Not fresh
The rice bowl is good, sashimi is fresh enough. Quite environment and not busy at all on weekdays. One thing I don t like is they use single use utensils and bowl even for dine in.
Fast service
I was a long time customer bc of amazing quality (low price was a bonus). Last time I ordered a party platter, tuna was grey, nigiris were noticeably smaller, and all in all looked like it was from a completely different store.. looks like from other ppls reviews, my experience wasnt a one-off. I really loved this place but I will not order again.
Ordered sushi platter for take our. Overall good.
Good Sushi at good prices. Its more of a takeout place, but you can eat there. Parking: Ample Parking.
The portion is quite large
Can t keep up with the quality, little bit disappointed
High quality food for a very fair price. I go out of my way to get take out from here.
We are from out of town and was craving sushi. After a bit of looking we had found AI is best bang for the buck. Place an order online and went to pickup. However a mistake was made and we only realized it when we opened it up at the bnb. We immediately called and explain the problem we had. They listened and were super accomodating. They rushed the correction order as we were staying just 5 mins away and wanted to get it for the rest of meal. When we arrived they had the order ready and had an appology note. I get mistakes happens and it is how the places handles these situations that makes all the diffrence. Ai sushi gets a pass! A side from that the food was great. But i must say their customer service is A1. Thanks
Amazing food for great value! Cant believe bbq unagi donburi is under $15 pre tax. Tastes so good too!
Very stale, not even as fresh as AYCE. The sauce is heavy to cover it up. No one even gave me a glass of water when it was so heavy.
Ai sushi is back to good standards. Sushi has improved and the standards have gotta much higher, very similar to when they first opened. Good to see they have made changes. One of best great places for take out sushi in richmondhill. Great value for what u pay for.
Quality is good, value iseven better, solid 4 stars. Thought thered be more Ai involved in the sushi making process. Will be back.
It is delicious!
Good sushi for a good price
Good food and good price. However, we dined in without getting any service. We had to walk to the front desk to order and no plates or water was provided. It was a little difficult to eat
Quality of fish is not fresh. Had really bad stomachache couple times after eating their platter.
Usually quality fish for great value. Today we got a platter and the sushi tasted off - got old musty fish and hard sour rice. Got a stomach ache. Called AI to let them know, so at least they stop serving that sushi to others. We were passed to the boss who just said, That s not possible but thanks for calling. Terrible attitude, accused us of lying, and no offer to remedy. Disappointing as this was my family s favourite sushi spot since 2020.
Been coming for years , it never disappoints! Staff is friendly and the fish is fresh and rolls are flavourful. Highly recommend this place for tasty sushi , we love their platters and dons- good value for what you get too
They were holding me on the phone for more than 20 min. Then I couldnt reach them at all.
Avoid at all costs. Both the fish and rice was mushy and tasted like it was a day old. Just look at my pictures. I dont know how they serve this to people.
Whenever I go out to Richmond, I order and eat takeout sushi. The roll is delicious. Haha.
Wonderful stuff and very clean the food is very tasty
Parking lot is very tight and limited, have to wait for a spot. The restaurant says they accept cash only, but they charge GST as well. I ordered online, the email doesnt say anything about cash only for pickup, and it included tax, which is a bit ridiculous. Likely wont go again. Parking: Very limited, tight and busy
High quality food.
Great take out for sushi and very reasonable price. They do have dine in as well parking is free but it does get busy
I was planning to go to Chillax next door, but it was packed, so I went to AiSushi. This is the first time Ive been to this location (tried Markham before), and the sushi quality is great. Theres not much seating space, but they have 3 tables. Most people get takeout. Reasonable prices for delicious sushi. They provided plates, utensils, soya sauce and wasabi when I dined in.
Used to be a decent place. However, Id avoid this place, ESPECIALLY closer to closing time. They serve less than edible fish. The tuna specifically was grey and NOT fresh. Basically got served pricey leftovers
The party tray is not worth the hype. Great value but quality is mediocre.
Fresh and great value for their platters.
I would not recommend this place. The food quality did not meet expectations given the price point. Its not worth the value in my opinion, there are better sushi restaurants elsewhere.
Very slightly cheaper than Yu Sushi but AiSushi s sashimi is not firm enough. Watch The Sushi Guy on TikTok - AiSushi should have prepped and cured fish esp salmon to draw out moisture and make more firm. Sushi rice does not have any flavour. I would go here next time only if in area and want to save $5-15
You can tell the sushi was made very rushed. The material used wasn t that great, the rice was mushy and the avocados used was not ripe. Soya sauce was poor quality also, group of six was quite displeased resulting in me to cover the bill.
TL:DR - ok sushi quality, would avoid unless looking for budget sushi. Been ordering take out at Ai Sushi for a few years now and it used to be 4 stars but now dropped to 3 (food quality) Ordered assorted sashimi-Sushi-roll (#705) for $36+tax (at time of review, cash only) Called at about 5pm and asked for pickup at 630pm. I arrived at 615pm and order was ready and placed in the fridge with at least another 15+ orders. Rolls were on the cold side when eating at home. Sashimi was hit and miss (depending on the type) salmon and scallop was good. White fish not so much. The shrimp nigiri was very bad (falling apart and tasted funny) and some of the rolls would fall apart when picking up with chopsticks. Asked for extra wasabi and they were generous with it, place was kept very clean as well. Staff is polite but not friendly.
Really bad service altitude, mess up the order, and just ignore you. If you place your order here, double check. Food
Very bad service and impatient lady taking orders on the phone. Sushi is okay, definitely not fresh. There are other better options around. A business should appreciate customers wanting to spend money at their establishment. Might be a good idea to train employees a bit more to display this.
Nice interior with high ceiling. Dine in food is also served in take out containers.
So far, so good. Absolutely is a choice in the area.
Top notch sushi at affordable prices.
Had our work holiday diner today and someone recommended AI sushi. We are located in Newmarket so it was a bit of a drive but decided sure why not. Well we were blown away by the incredible taste. It puts every other local sushi places to shame. I will certainly return with my family.
The fish is not fresh at all, taste really bad and there are sand on the shrimp. I won t go there any more.
The amount of rice in the sashimi was so tiny and the fish tasted pretty bad and old
Good quality sushi platters at a reasonable price Takeout only
Despite having a great first experience, second order was very very disappointing. Bunch of rolls had very foul smell and taste. Will not be ordering from here again.
The sashimi are fresh, but the Sushi are not the best. Hoeven, I think its still worth 4 stars, cause its relatively cheap for the quality of the fish. It feels like a take out place, but again, cant complaint due to the price
Great tasting sushi
Consistent, luxury thick cuts of fresh fish, update in October 2022. Great value, fresh sashimi, no frills with high utility value. I cannot wait That Aisushi full service restaurant is opening in August
The quality has gone down substantially. The price is still pretty cheap for any sushi place.
The sashimi is like a piece of paper and the rice bed of the sushi is shameless. First and last time, never returned!!
The best place for takeout sushi in Richmond Hill, I ve ordered here COUNTLESS times and it never disappoints. Fresh fish, unique rolls, overall INCREDIBLE quality. They re always busy when I go in and I m not surprised.
The fish smelled funny, was not fresh and the salmon was mushy and falling apart. The sushi roll was poorly made and wasn t even cut properly. The combo seems reasonably priced at first but considering the quality and the fact that it doesn t come with soup or salad, it s not worth the price. There was also very limited options for combos. Definitely not coming back here.
Great place for sushis. Tried 4 types of vegtarian sushis (Mango Tango, Avocado-Cucumber, Veggie Dragon and Sweet Bean), and they were all pretty good. Cost was around $20 for 20 sushis, so worth it. Vegetarian options: Not many options, but enough. Options available are: Mango Tango House Roll Veggie Dragon House Roll Futomaki House Roll Avocado / Cucumber Maki Sweet Bean Curd Maki
Food was not bad, but some fish were not for sushi or maki quality. Stacking up some boxes on the floor didnt look good to me especially for people dining in.
Price are right
Price wise not bad, but inconsistent quality, and even the sashimi could be different varieties from time to time, its a lottery draw.
one of the best value sushi shop i know.
Always a good choice of sushi and sashimi. Order online ahead and less time to line up. Food are fresh. But hope it can keep the quality constantly. Service always good. Staffs are friendly. I mean from the Frontline to the chef. They are very friendly. Environment: they used to have dine in area. Bit closed it due to covid. The deco super super nice and cool. Vegetarian options: Can order veggie sushi roll Parking: Good size of parking lot.
One of the more reasonably priced sushi restaurants that has good quality. Highly recommended there platters. Make sure you order in advance as they do get busy.
We ordered take out. Recommended by someone it was really good deal but fishes are not fresh as I expected. I would try some rolls next time. Food
I am a frequent return customer. I love their food and their presentation. Dont think about it is mostly takeout, they are good and reasonably priced their food.
Ai Sushi is an excellent place to purchase sushi platters. The selection of sushi is varied and high quality. The presentation of the sushi platters is beautiful and each piece of sushi is arranged thoughtfully. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, making it a great choice for a party or special occasion. The prices are also reasonable and the platters are cash only. I highly recommend Ai Sushi for anyone looking for high-quality sushi platters.
