Oyaji Sushi (à la carte) in Richmond Hill

It has been awhile since I found an authentic, traditional and comforting Japanese-Korean food place. I just adore this place and it will be my go- to- home cook meal for sure. My dishes were delish.

Foods are amazing. Services are fantastic.

My friends and I came near closing time but everything was fresh, delicious and fish portions were big. Everything is reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. Love this place and will come again!

I came here with my daughter and son in law. They found this place by accident turns out to be good. So they took me in. I found it lovely. Peacful nice staff. Very clean. Amonf few suchi places that did not smell fishy. With a wide variety of food. I dfinitely recomend it.

Excellent lunch menu. The lunch menu has multiple varieties to pick from. Chicken Teriyaki bento box I had was delicious. The place is cozy and has small booths to accomodate upto 6 people. The service is friendly and attentive. Food : 5/5

Interior of the restaurant is nice, so are the staff. Food most importantly wasnt anything special fish was not fresh & japache was missing veggies and not traditionally cooked overly sweet.

The quality of sashimi and sushi is above average for a reasonable price. They offer a variety of cooked Japanese and Korean dishes as well if you dont prefer eating raw seafood. Vegetarian options: Very limited options for vegetarians.

My favourite Japanese restaurant! Mom and pop shop that doesn t jeopardize quality to make a cheap buck! Their chicken katsu and salmon lover is my favourite very fresh and great quality. Chicken katsu it s breaded perfectly with a lot of meat in between while still being crunchy, a lot of other places just bread the meat and you only see a thin slice of meat inside absolutely villainous behaviour that you won t see here. Good stuff.

My hubby and I stopped here for lunch and wow oh wow were we glad we did. First off, you definitely get your money s worth with the bento lunch box - honestly, we were barely hungry for dinner it was so much food. The sashimi was fresh and ample cut in size, the miso soup was terrific and the tempura was light and crispy. I particularly liked the onion ring tempura! As for the rolls, they were so fresh they just melted in your mouth. This is going to be a regular stop for us going forward!

I recently ordered sushi from Oyaji Sushi over the phone, and I was really impressed with the experience. The order was prepared quickly ready in just 20 minutes! The prices were reasonable, and the sushi was of excellent quality, fresh and delicious. When I went to pick up the order, I was welcomed warmly by the staff. They were not only courteous but also treated my daughter with such kindness, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Oyaji Sushi provides great food with wonderful service. Ill definitely be returning!

Had sashimi lunch earlier today - rice was dry and seemed old, sashimi only consisted of salmon, tuna and snapper, side dishes (edamame, salad and 1 piece of a roll) didnt seem fresh. I dont think it was worth $20. I wont be going back.

The food used to be really good but this time the roll kept falling apart. The staff s attitude was horrible. They were rushing us to order and finish our food and they basically forced us to leave 20 minutes before the closing time. Never going back.

Used to be a fan of this place. We moved away. However, my daughter wanted to go to this restaurant on her 15th birthday. It was nostalgic for her. 4:45 pm, we Me and my 3 kids, two of which are toddlers, went in on Saturday, Feb 24th. The entire restaurant is empty, and the waitress wanted us to sit at the front near the main entrance, I requested that we have the booth, but she said its only for reservations. Then it clicked why I stopped going in first place. She went back and forth, and she said its gonna get busy. While we are the only ones apart from her, her attitude and sushi chef, there was no one else. I refused to pay any penny of my hard earned money to the place who gave me bad taste from get go. My daughters birthday wish was ruined. However, it was saved and celebrated at Unome Sushi! Not only the waiter offered us booth without asking, but their food and service were amazing. My daughter loved the atmosphere and got stuffed on food! The chef sent special Maki rolls for my toddlers, and their staff was very attentive. Food and service, if you fail in one, you will lose customers. Perhaps they are not comfortable serving certain group of people.

My family enjoyed our Monday dinner at Oyaji Sushi very happily. Above all, the waitress service is so friendly and the explanations for all the food are fantastic. The atmosphere is very warm. I definitely recommend this place to everyone else.

had dinner at Oyaji on Tuesday after work. I had a friend who had a birthday, so I ordered a cake after dinner, and the waitress sensibly sang a birthday song for my friend Kendol. I was so grateful and happy. I am impressed with the delicious food and friendly service here. I will come back again.

Oyaji Sushi is one of my local places and I ve been here a number of times. The sashimi is very fresh, the unagi is some of the best in the city. I finish their ingredients excellent and tasty. The problem is when they combine their ingredients it just doesn t work. Their rolls are just average. It s something to do with the seaweed I think - it gets very chewy and can stick in your teeth. Caution on the sushi pizza as it s huge! Each slice is like a whole sushi pizza at another place.

We booked long table for 12 people, 6 kids and 6 adults. The food tasted good, so fresh! The sea urchin is my favourite, also shrimp tempura is also very good. As a family of 4, we spent around $150, pretty fair.

Very nice place, great food, great survace. We came for a dinner, and all rodered diffrenct dischses - green gragon rolls, miso soup, bulgogi dinner, tempura and some other disches. Everything was reallly fresh and delicious. The service was quick and nice. Prices are reasonable. We will definately come again.

Ive been going here for a few years now. The quality of sushi and sashimi is absolutely un-real. Its not the cheapest of places because youre paying for high quality sushi. Always delicious and never a let down. Give Oyaji a try and you wont regret it.

Went there for lunch and we ordered two set lunches. Food was ok but nothing special as expected.. However, virtually as soon as we put down the chopsticks, the waitress came up and gave us the bill. Very disappointed with this sort of service.

My favourite part is the food!

My spouse and I were repeated customers at Oyaji and we supported the restaurant throughout the pandemic. This year, we opted to celebrate the Lunar New Year with our son and another couple at Oyaji on Jan 21. We ordered the Uni platter ($60) and 4 set lunches ($18 each). The restaurant was busy that day and service was slow. There should be a complimentary Dynamite Roll with orders over $100 but we were disappointed that it didnt come with our orders ($132 before tax) . Unfortunately, we felt a lag of service and disappointment for the first time. We sent our feedback to the e-mail address on their web site that evening, there is no reply to date.

Quaint little restaurant tucked next to a fitness center. In my years here I did not notice this jewel of a place. I just happen to be looking on Google maps in the area for sushi. The food was delicious and well presented. All the staff were very friendly. It does get busy and is hard to find a table but once you are in expect great dining. My family and I will be back again soon! It is highly suggested to make a reservation otherwise you may have to wait.

Truly a hidden gem! The food was delicious, sashimi was cut very generously, highly enjoyed our order including Philadelphia roll, Spicy green dragon roll and fire viking roll (its really ). The service was prompt, will definitely recommend and come back again!

My friends and I went there today for some sushi, the rolls were ok but the server was so disrespectful she didn t even check on our table our water was almost done and she didn t care. But when we were about to pay she wrote on our receipt T I P and forced us to tip her 15% even though she did not deserve a penny. She kept saying it s ok that you didn t know but when you go to a restaurant you should tip, sorry maam i know how to behave in a restaurant but you sure as hell didn t deserve any and were disrespectful to us. My friends and I were really disappointed; would not recommend not because of the food but just because of the service. Very bad experience.

Today my friends and I went to this place to have lunch the sushi was ok but when it came to paying we splits it in 3 and I didn t tip her because the service was bad our water was finished but she didn t even come to our table to check on us , after my friend and I didn t tip her she got mad at us and forced us to tip her and wrote down T I P on the receipt and she was saying you have to tip because I brought you water!!! So she putted in the machine again and forced us tip her and give us attitude and it was really disappointing and she didn t let us leave until we tip her i will be not going back there anymonre it was so bad

I remember having a good meal, so I went to visit with my son, but perhaps because I was wearing shabby clothes, I had to park at the entrance for 2 to 3 minutes, and the server said that there was no room left as he was doing something else for a while. Dont you know that they say there is no room from the beginning or that there is no seat even though the table for 4 is empty in front of you? The two foreigners who came in next must have sat there. This is my first time being ignored like this at a Korean restaurant. Thank you for giving me a very unique experience. I am posting this for other Koreans to take note of. This is my first time posting on Google.

Such a cute and cozy sushi spot in Richmond Hill! Can t believe I hadn t been here before. Great atmosphere and family run. We had the monday special platter and it was so fresh and tasted great! Takoyaki was soooo good. They don t charge for green tea which was refreshing will honestly become our go-to spot!!

I used to go to this restaurant often. The last time I went there was last week. Ordered something I used to order, but I found portion reduced a lot and ended up the service was not as good as before. 4 of us ordered 2 sashimi combo with Udon and a chicken dish. End up the straight face waitress gave us a look and not even say anything else. Not that we were cheap. It was too hot outside that the weather made us not want to eat. We used to order a lunch set each, but it always would not be able to finish it. Food came, and we asked for bowls for sharing the food. The waitress started giving us look like seriously? 4 of you want to share those.... After we paid, she didnt even look at us or say Bye. Just walked away. I used to love this place a lot. After last week.... never mind, I will find a better one in this area. If you were busy, we would order take out and not bother your lunch time. Since we saw you had an empty restaurant during lunchtime, we decided to sit down, at least make your place not so empty. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED TO YOUR SERVICE.

This is our father day lunch. My wife searches through the area for good Japanese food and this one has top rating. So we went. It DOESNT disappoint me. It is the best Japanese restaurant in our area. The service and food are excellent. We ordered a medium sushi and Sashimi compo with a cold Korean noodle. What surprised me is the combo comes with sea urchin, though not a big portion but good enough for me. The salmon belly is exceptional. Highly recommended and will be back for more next time.

The most important of sushi is fresh ! And you can find them all here ! This is a Korean-owned Japanese sushi restaurant and food are very yummy . Outside of the restaurant can not catch your eyes as it looks a bit smaller and old that we were doubt abt to walk in and give a try . Once we taste the food , I feel like we will definitely come more often in the future ! Recommend For sure !

The food and atmosphere here are great, but don t let that fool you. You can t expect a nice and cozy dinner here because the waiters are rushing you to order as soon as you walk in the door. I had just arrived at the table with my friend and just started a conversation when the staff approached us 5 TIMES IN 10 MINUTES asking if we could order. I politely asked to give us more time so we could finish our conversation but on the last time, they rushed us to make a decision on the spot, citing the 1.5 hour seating limit. They didn t let us sit down for any time to chat after we finished eating either, rushing us to get the bill as soon as the food was done. Absolutely horrible dining experience - avoid this BAIT of a place at all costs. Sushi places in the area are plentiful (and probably cheaper, and probably have staff with more basic decency than this.)

Food was tasty. For best service and food arrive before 8:00 pm. We got there at 9:00 pm. After 9:30 was informed closing soon need to finish up and leave.

I usually try out restaurant with Amex with good reviews. It was listed on the Amex site but at time of payment they didn t take the card. Regardless. The food and everything is good for a local neighborhood restaurant. The portion was good and was well priced. It is also a Korean owned and operated. There was a good amount of diners coming into the establishment on a Sunday dinner time. Fish was fresh and tempura was excellent.

I ordered their galbi lunch bento box to go. The galbi was juicy and delicious and the tempura batter was nice and light. You get 3 pieces of galbi but they were pretty big. Although the food that I had tasted good, it was missing the salad and the glass noodle sides. Which is why I took a star off.

I usually like this place however, 2 times now I have ordered now spicy tuna and California rolls and both times I got spicy salmon. After saying I ordered spicy tuna 5 times to the staff, she insisted that my order was right and that I ordered spicy salmon. First time I took my order home without checking. The second time I checked and had to spent 5 minutes telling her that I ordered spicy tuna. Then I still ended up with the wrong order - this time spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Not sure I will come back.

Its one of my favorite sushi places in the town. All the dishes in this place are at least above average. Some rolls are really superb. The only thing to be desired is price. Its slightly pricey compared to other similar sushi places.

Found this place by happen stance, what a hidden jem. The fish is incredibly fresh. chrispy shrimp tempura, black Dragon Roll was a personal favourite, with a vibrant presentation and perfectly balanced flavour.

What a hidden gem in Richmond Hill. Was here for lunch amd I was delighted with the food, service and nice decor at Oyaji. We ordered kalbi bento, sushi sahimi bento and spicy dumplings and we cleaned the plates:) Will definitely come back and try out the menu.

Located on Yonge, North of Major Mackenzie. There is a huge lot with plenty of parking option to select from. The restaurant has plenty of seating options to suit the party size. The staff are plenty friendly. The food is very fresh and flavourful. We ordered a sushi/ sashimi platter with very generous servings. The Seafood pasta was rich and hearty. The Galbi was melt in your mouth and hits all the right notes of flavors. Lastly the cold noodle was very refreshing and brought back many memories Definitely a hidden gem and the price is very competitive in todays new economy.

We had a takeout, very hospitable people who assisted us with ease in selecting the right food, and the most important thing is that the food was amazing, awesome sushi. We took 71 combo sushi and Sashimi and the tonkacho chicken, all were excellent and we are sure to come again.

I went here with my boyfriend for dinner for the first time and the service and food were amazing! The staff was so friendly, and all of the fish was very fresh and flavourful. The presentation of the food was also aesthetically pleasing. THE SUSHI WAS 12/10!!! The cheesecake was surprisingly also the best cheesecake I think Ive ever eaten in my life. Also, I had not realized I forgot my keys on the table and one of the very kind staff ran out to give them to me! I highly recommend dining here!
