Japanese pasta and sushi restaurant
Tasty Japanese dishes. Fresh ingredients and well cooked dishes. Friendly service. Seating is a bit tight and not good for private conversations as people next table can hear you. Parking lot gets busy and hard to find a spot during busy hours.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this sushi restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, who were not only professional but also incredibly attentive throughout my visit. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. As for the food, it was simply outstanding. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every bite felt like a work of art, with the chefs clearly putting thought and care into each dish. I especially enjoyed their signature rolls and sashimi platter, which were perfectly balanced in taste and texture. What really set this place apart, though, was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, frequently checking in but never being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and ensuring that any dietary preferences were accommodated without issue. Overall, I can't recommend this sushi restaurant enough. Delicious food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi. I'll definitely be coming back soon!
It's one of the best sushi/ rolls you can get in Toronto Staff were friendly, and the place looked nice and cozy
Flying Fish offers a cozy atmosphere with friendly service, making it a pleasant spot for a casual meal. The tacos were enjoyable, although I found them a bit pricey for what they delivered. The wasabi pasta didn't impress me much, lacking the bold flavors I expected. I also wanted to try a specific salad, but they were out of ingredients, so got the crispy chicken salad, which was quite nice. Despite the limited seating due to the small size of the restaurant, I appreciated the overall vibe. The server was attentive and added a nice touch to the experience. I’m definitely interested in returning to explore more of the menu, as there were a few items that caught my eye during this visit.
Love this place! Especially the deep fried ebi shrimp! Their selections are amazing and high quality worth every penny!
The nori sushi taco was really special and enjoyable, much better than other sushi tacos I've tried. The wasabi carbonara was not bad but also not what I was expecting. It heavy on garlic without any obvious taste of wasabi- just a hint of it. A small place with a quaint feel and very friendly service. Very family friendly. Would come back.
This place is never disappointed me. Love their food. But wish they have more newer items or limited time offer new dish. Love their sushi taco, torched sushi. Restaurant is small but cozy, good for small group. Staffs are very friendly. My husband love this place. Is one of his favorite to go.
We ordered for alots of dishes(Sushi Box 18pcs, futomaki salmon, spring blossom, and hambāgu steak) and all of them were mind blowing. Especially our favorite one was the spring blossom roll and hambāgu steak. It was amazingly delicious. The meat was so juicy and tender, perfect combo with the cheese sauce. Also spring blossom was delicious too. It was very refreshing. The apple and rice roll perfectly matched and make it so refreshing. I luved the roll so much. Plus, the servers were so nice and friendly. I would definitely come back with my friends to taste their other cuisine again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I went here with my partner for dinner and we got combo set B, with a regular rosé cream pasta, one japanese hamburg steak, and the spring blossom rolls. The food was quite good; I enjoyed the spiciness of the rosé sauce in the fusion pasta, and my partner liked his hamburger steak, but did note that he liked my pasta a lot too. Both of us thought the sushi rolls were delicious and unique- the presentation was beautiful and the apple and yuzu tobiko on top of the rolls added a light, fresh fruity taste to the dish. Overall, we would rate the food a 8/10, however, it is a tad more on the expensive side in terms of price per portion. The service was really good- both waiters were extremely kind and attentive. The atmosphere was also cozy and quiet, and the decor was very tasteful. For both service and atmosphere, we would rate it a 9/10. We will likely be returning to try some of the other options on their menu. A note is that there isn t a lot of above ground parking, but there is an underground parking garage with a lot of space and free parking for 3 hours.
Service is always kind and prompt here. The food is very good! I went to Japan and I adored their Yoshoku so The Flying Fish really hit the spot. They have a set menu for 2 which I would recommend as you get to try a bit of what they have to offer. Recommend the garlic aoli pasta and the hamburg :) My only gripe is that sometimes the seasoning can be a bit off. I got the tiger prawns but the crunch wasnt really there and it couldve been seasoned a bit more. The miso soup is a bit light. I have ordered the same pasta (wasabi creme fraiche) and the thickness of the sauce can be the right thickness or light.
Highly recommend the unagi taco, the apple was a surprisingly nice pairing.
I had sushi here recently, the salmon was excellent quality and o er all I enjoyed my experience here. The prices are also very fair.
highly recommend! the omakase is great!
Kids friendly place.
Delicious sushi at a reasonable price. Highly recommend this place. Their menu has changed and the selection remarkable
The food was really delicious and the service was good. Also, the atmosphere was emotional and nice. It was the best restaurant Ive ever been to.
The food was great, and the atmosphere of the place amazing as well! Really good restaurant.
Love this place, and the sushies are so fresh. Also, I love the fish taco
If youre looking for family dinner, I would definitely recommend here! Theyre offering outstanding quality of pasta and sushi & sashimi & roll combo. They have variety of menu choices. Additionally, If you purchase over 60 dollars before tax, you can get a free coupon for appetizers!
Weve been loyal customers of Flying Fish for years, frequently ordering via Uber and raving about their unique dishes. The torched sushi taco and pastas were staples in our orders. However, our most recent experience was a major letdown. Unfortunately, the quality of our last order was unacceptable. The spicy salmon roll and specialty roll had tempura bites that were inedible. They tasted stale and had a strong, unpleasant smell. To make matters worse, when we tried to contact Uber support, they didnt take any action to resolve the issue. We were left with no choice but to discard our entire order. As loyal customers, its disheartening to see such a decline in quality and service. We hope Flying Fish takes steps to address these issues and regain our.. Well take a break from ordering from Flying Fish for now, but hope to see improvements in the future.
Their Nori Taco is a must-try
It said close at 10 but every time when I come here around 830 they told me kitchen is closed. Last time I went there at 9:30 it said just last order already. Today I went there at 830 and they said kitchen closed again. Then why saying that close at 10? It is super stupid.
Excellent Japanese fusion! The wasabi carbonara was delicious, and so were the sushi tacos! Food : 5/5
I was quite disappointed. I had sushi taco from Hay Sushi, loved it, was curious when I saw this place has it on the menu. It just cant compete. The sushi taco was greasy and lacked flavor. Unagi Hotate Kushi which was highly recommended, also greasy and bland, signature rolls were ok... Service was not on par. We ordered quite a lot, so the table was a bit full. When the waitress served a new dish, she just shoved the plates to the table, pushed plates around, and almost spilled food over.
Yummy unique cuisine, friendly and clean environment. Great for catering for home parties, dine in or take out too. Very impressed and always looking forward to the delicious food.
Very good food n attentive service in a very cozy restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was very great The nori tacos were innovative with the pasta was delicious Overall, a solid restaurant.
Such a great spot!! The service was great and the food was to die for. Their sushi tacos and Japanese pastas are a must try!!
Their seaweed tacos are really delicious and so special! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Love it
Busy neighbourhood shop. Was surprised that two menu items had sold out before 6:30pm. No surprise, they dont take AMEX.
went with a group of friends a couple months ago. while everyone else had gotten their food, i had to wait an extra 7-10 mins for my food to come to the table. got severe food poisoning for a week. will never return!
The space is pretty small, so likely have to wait during peak times. Considering the portion and quality of the food, the prices are pretty reasonable. A lot of options for shareable combos. The tacos are made with fried seaweed shells, which is a popular Korean-style snack. The pastas are also very good, recommend the rosé cream pasta with seafood, it has a nice spicy kick to it.
Very good experience! The food is delicious!
Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 4.5 Stars Value: 4.5 Stars Overall: 4.75 Stars I had the pleasure of visiting The Flying Fish for the first time and was thoroughly impressed with my dining experience. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, yet elegant atmosphere that made me feel very comfortable. The attention to detail in the decor was remarkable, from the delicate wall art to the sleek furniture, which made for a truly immersive experience. But the standout feature of The Flying Fish was undoubtedly the food. Owner Chef Gil s passion, experience, and effort were evident in every dish we were served. The fusion and authentic Japanese cuisine were expertly crafted using only the best quality and variety of ingredients imported from Japan, resulting in truly unique and unforgettable flavors that tantalized my taste buds. To begin with, I went with a friend and we shared the Duo De Taco, Spicy Rose Cream Seafood Pasta, and Omakase Sushi Box A 12 pcs. For the amount we ordered it was a really good portion size. The Duo De Taco consisted of two sushi tacos, and we had the option to choose our two favourites. We opted for the Fresh Salmon and Seared Spicy Sashimi tacos. The presentation of the tacos was beautiful the tacos were served on a metal zig-zag-like tray with parchment paper underneath, which made it easy and clean to eat. It was evident that great care was taken to ensure that not only did the tacos taste great, but they were also visually appealing and presented in a unique and creative way. The Seared Spicy Sashimi taco was particularly outstanding the seared sashimi was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a spicy sauce, and the fresh salmon taco had a delightful freshness to it. Additionally, we tried the Spicy Rose Cream Seafood Pasta, which was a fusion dish that blended Japanese and Italian flavours. The dish featured perfectly cooked shrimp, mussels, and scallops in a creamy rose sauce, with a hint of spiciness. The pasta was perfectly cooked aldente, and the portion size was generous, making it an ideal dish for sharing. I really loved it! Finally, we had the Omakase Sushi Box A, which contained 12 pieces of sushi selected by the chef. Each piece of sushi was expertly crafted with fresh and high-quality ingredients, resulting in a delightful variety of flavours and textures. The sushi was served on a traditional wooden board, and each piece was beautifully presented with the perfect balance of rice, fish, and toppings. Overall, every dish we tried at The Flying Fish was exceptional. The fusion and authentic Japanese cuisine were expertly crafted with the best quality and variety of ingredients, resulting in truly unique and unforgettable flavours. The portion size was also very good quantity. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience with family or friends. I cannot wait to check out other dishes on the menu. kellychan360 Parking: Free parking available
One of the best in this area!
Tastes great!
Excellent place to have lunch. We were all very impressed
Japanese style pasta? Its so delicious Its far away, but I go and eat whenever I think of it.
My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary yesterday and we had an amazing experience at The Flying Fish. It offers a variety of Japanese style pasta, sushi and appetizers. Fusion style. All the dishes that we ordered did not disappoint. Each of them were an experience and very tasty. The customer service was great too! All in all, I would highly recommend coming here if you like both pasta dishes and sushi. Amazing combo!
Came here for lunch. Lunch specials from open till 3:00pm. Lots of options available. They only had one pasta on the menu, and I don t eat bacon, they couldn t substitute it, or take it out I understand if it s to make sure customers are in and out quickly. I wasn t given an option of getting it without either. Ended up getting their Taco Bell+ California Roll plus Lemon Cream shrimp. When I saw how much I ordered I thought I d feel heavy and bloated but it was surprisingly fresh as light. The nori taco . Wow. The nori is thick, and I paid $1 extra to get bulgogi beef on it. It was for $16 all together. I really enjoyed this meal. For a quick $15. Lunch, it s perfect. Mind you the sushi had a hair on it. It was the servers as it was long. I told her quietly and they switched it but honestly servers should have their hair tied. Her hair was open and flowing, sure it looked good. But I don t want to see hair on my food. I will definitely go by again. Hopefully they can start making at accommodations for those that don t eat bacon, or meat and have at least one option for pasta at lunch without bacon. Oh and the miso soup was piping hot! I would visit again even with the hair on my food. I m just hoping the owners see this and start restoring their staff to tie their hair.
Terrible service! Dont know why the server always avoided and ignored when someone needed help. nerver look at customers
Amazing fusion sushi and Japanese pasta. Will be back to try out the rest of their menu. The garlic aioli pasta and sushi tacos is a must try.
Came here for dinner with my friends and really enjoyed it. The vibes and atmosphere are very calming, prefect for a catch up. The sushi was really good, I really liked the fatty tuna. It came with the 40 set pieces sushi we got. We also tired their salmon torch sushi. The spicy rosé cream pasta was super savory and was the prefect hot dish to go with the sushi. Between the spicy salmon and fresh salmon taco we got, I preferred the sashimi one!
A little pasta restaurant located in a quiet corner of the plaza. The appetizers was refreshing and well presented. The seafood pasta surprised me with its portion and taste. The white sauce is full of body and creamy. The pasta came in a big portion I recommend you share one with your love one, lol.
A must for anyone who s into pasta or sushi! Every dish from the zesty Wasabi Crème Fraîche to the perfectly balanced spicy and creamy Rose Crème Pasta, was top tier. The Torched Pressed Sushi was superb as well. Easily one of the best Japanese cuisine in Toronto, if not Canada. I ll definitely be coming back again soon!
Only one server to serve the entire restaurant. There is a sign telling you that the food will take long to prepare. The sign also mentions you have only stay 90 minutes. That s mean, they can take time to prep the food but we have to eat fast as soon as you have been served. The food was ok. I just don t like the sign on the table. That s not the customer service I expected for this level/ price range restaurant.
Got the spicy rose pasta with seafood, and the salmon sushi box. After tax and tip for these 2 items I spent around $75. So the items are on the pricier side, but it is indeed amazing quality.
Ordered online from their website for pick up. When i went to pick up the food they mentioned that they are not accepting any takeout orders! This was around 730 pm when the restaurant is open till 10 pm !! Outrageous as i wasted my time ordering and driving there. They did try to call me but i was driving my way to the restaurant when they called. If you cannot accept orders beyond a certain time why would you have ordering available on your website. Never going back again.
Today was my first visit, I liked the cozy vibe, and the server was attentive. Food quality is good with many varieties, but I must say it is a little overpriced with little quantity. Hope they will improve for my next visit.
Not the fanciest place but great food. We have been going to this place for years. Definitely try the corn and chicken soup.
The sushi is meticulously crafted by chefs using high-quality ingredients. The ambiance of the restaurant is elegant and inviting. The staff are warm and welcoming. Even though the wait time is a little bit long, the food quality is well worth the wait.
The store manager is great. I am from Taiwan and my English is poor. Fortunately, there is a store manager who can speak Chinese.
We ordered the platter, and we thought it would just be mediocre-tasting sushi and sashimi, but we were VERY pleasantly surprised. It was all crafted and prepared with care, and was one of the freshest tasting sushi and sashimi that weve had in awhile. Well definitely come back for more sushi and sashimi, but also want to try their noodles and hamb gu, which also looks amazing.
Its a small restaurant, but you will feel comfortable, and the food are both creative and satisfying.
The food was great but a bit on the pricey side. And interesting fusion of sushi and pasta that works very well!
Cute place, very cozy feeling. Very few seats inside so suggest to make a reservation. Their combo with wafu pasta and hamburger was great value. $50 and you get two entrées and 2 sushi tacos. Food was delicious and different than what you may typical order at a japanese restaurant so its a nice change once in a while. Parking: Underground parking available
Really good pasta I also recommend the takowasa
Small
Highly recommend! Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Im usually skeptical of fusion food but Flying Fish does it right! First time trying their taco and it was delicious! Will definitely be going back.
I recently visited The Flying Fish twice, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. Firstly, the sushi taco was quite disappointing. The portion size was incredibly small, leaving me unsatisfied. Secondly, the sushi rice lacked moisture and flavor, making it dry and unappetizing compared to other Japanese sushi places I have tried. Overall, my experience at The Flying Fish did not meet my expectations, and I would suggest exploring other options for a better sushi dining experience.
Despite the attentive service from our server, the sashimi was disappointingly not fresh, and the pasta was overly sweet. Moreover, the prices were quite high for the quality of food offered. Regrettably, based on these experiences, I would not recommend dining at The Flying Fish.
Love the food and the atmosphere.
It was the great experience. Pasta and hamburg are tasty and also has good portion. I met Nori taco first here. They are also tasty.
Very good and attentive service in a very cozy restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was great but portions were a bit on the smaller side for the price. The nori tacos were innovative with the tempura fried nori, and the fresh salmon one tasted great! The wasabi bacon pasta was creamy but the acidic element added was a bit too much and was therefore, jarring. The sukiyaki beef pasta was delicious and a bit on the sweet side. Overall, a solid restaurant.
High quality, great flavour and impeccable service. We were blown away by the food and the atmosphere inside is very intimate because it s a very small restaurant. Book a reservation for sure.
Me and my wife had a Set A for 2 person meal. Such a good value dinner. Service is pleasant and friendly. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.
The tacos and torched sushi are amazing!!!!! MUST TRY! Pasta is not recommended. Food
Great atmosphere and good food, definitely give a try!
Friendly wait staff and very good food service
I think this is my second time giving a bad review to a restaurant. Extremely slow, even when there were 3 tables taken. Only 1 waiter was there, with 1 chef and 1 sous chef. Food was mediocre i was already full when the third dish came because the wait time was sooooooo long Overall just a very disappointing experience. Not cheap either, would never go again.
The price paid for the sushi didnt meet my expectations.
Was recommended this place and was a great find. Food was great, service was super friendly and considerate. Didnt try their pasta but their sushi taco were amazing.
Terrible service, waitress was rude. Food was average - fish didn t taste very fresh and rice was cold and hard.
Really great presentation
Interesting take on using fried seaweed as foundation for classic dishes that need wrapping, plating were all awesome Cozy vibes, service crew on Dec.23.2023 were very attentive Does feel a bit oily/savory, big opportunity to add/recommend more acidic, refreshing dishes to combo with the rest
First time trying The Flying Fish. This is a hidden gem located in Richmond Hill (Chalmers Gate area). Reservations are highly recommended since there are only about 10 tables in this place. We ordered Combo for Two - Set B for $54. It was perfect sushi is so fresh and we enjoyed the assortment which included 14 pcs of Sushi and 4 pcs of Torched Sushi. We also picked this combo out because we wanted the Sushi Tacos which are a MUST! We love the Crunchy Nori Seaweed Shell and for our choices we choose Grilled Unagi (eel) and Spicy Salmon. Such a great menu of Japanese fusion!! Will be back next time to try more like the Wafu Udon Noodles. The food is amazing. The server was friendly and attentive. Just be prepared for the tight space. Tables are close together.
Nice Japanese Restaurant without an expensive price tag. Must try their pasta dishes, you wont be disappointed. Food
the flying fish never disappoints !! a bit pricey, sure, but the seafood dishes and wafu pasta dishes were all STELLAR. the spicy rose cream seafood pasta was so smooth and balanced, with its spiciness not overpowering the dish at all. the salmon taco tasted so fresh and crisp (that nori shell is crunchy !!!). we also tried the sashimi punch roll and it was delicious, our group downed practically seconds after it came. 10/10 !! edit: i went back and added a few more photos !! PLEASE TRY THE CHICKEN KARAAGE ITS SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD
Friendly service. Greeted with smiles. Great food! These guys really are passionate about what they do and it shows. Will be trying them again Vegetarian options: Avocado Roll and avo-cucumber rolls are good options for vegetarian
The portion of sushi is tiny. The fishes are thin cut. Expensive. 3 dishes with a bill of $89.
Ended up here by accident but glad we tried it out. Had the set combo with pasta, nori tacos and deluxe roll. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Had the rose pasta and i usually dont like rose sauce but this was exceptional i even had to make sure to get all the sauce from the plate before letting them clear it. Not sure why there are other so so reviews but i am definitely coming back to try out all the other things on the menu. The service was impeccable.
Pricey but delicious and unique
Its a different experience for lover. Recommend the tacos and seared .
I ordered a sushi box I understand it s the chef s choice of what to give us, but I told the staff I have food allergies and can t have scallops and shrimp which would cause me breathing issues, he refused and kept saying it s the chef s choices and they gave me BOTH scallops and shrimp. I don t think he understands.
Sushi quality was amazing. Fish was fresh.
Sooo good
No merit, no fault, right?
Fantastic lunch, the staff was very friend and food is very good. One of richmondhills finest torched sushi. Recommended.
It s a neat little restaurant with friendly service and dish are quite pretty ! They offer wafu style pasta similar to Shiso Tree before and I really missed the sukiyaki pasta and excited to try when seeing this dish on the menu. The presentation looks quite pretty but taste wise, it s a yummy dish overall but however the sauce used somehow lacks the unique sukiyaki taste. It tasted more like a beef pasta with asian taste. Again, the dish is good on its own but doesn t taste exactly like sukiyaki in my opinion We also ordered sushi (Omakase B2 if I remember the name correctly) . It s looks decent. In terms of fish taste/quality, it s for sure not the best sushi I ever had but for $45 for 20 pieces, I couldn t complain for this price and also considering the good kind of fish they offered. For my preference though, I would prefer lesser rice is used for each of the sushi pieces. To me, the rice overpower the fish taste and all I pretty much taste is the rice. From the 2 dishes we tried today, it s between 3 stars to 4 stars overall so I rounded up to 4 stars this time because I somehow felt the passion vibe in this restaurant in trying hard to provide good food and great customer experience. The staff are very polite and friendly!
50min waiting 15min eating Be ready to wait 40-50min for your first dish after ordering (Just order take out )
Definitely here is the best sushi place i ve ever been to. I will be back sooner or later, strongly recommend if some one wants to eat speical dishes! I appreciate to offer beautiful dishes.
Cute place with fresh sashimi - what a great combination! I ordered takeout on a Saturday just before 3:00pm (as they close from 3-4 each day) and had to drive 45m to get home before I can enjoy the meal. I was surprised that the salmon tacos were still crunchy upon arrival at my destination, even my 5yo ate one and he s never had sashimi before. The salmon taco had chunks of tuna belly, crab salad and masago, paired with a crunchy and savoury seaweed taco shell. I ordered 3 of those tacos and 1 beef bulgogi one for my husband who doesn t eat raw fish. The karaage (chicken thigh pieces) had a light battered and was coated in a honey glaze without being too sweet or soggy - everyone enjoyed these. Sushi box A was super fresh, flavourful and not fishy whatsoever, you can tell that they only serve the freshest seafood - my favourites were the spot prawn, scallop and squid. And lastly, I ordered the Special Chirashi Don which was the chef s choice of fresh seafood over rice - the presentation on this was on point. The seafood served was similar to what was in Sushi Box A. This place is located on Hwy 7 right by Time Square and Commerce Gate. It s a small place, but the quality is excellent. I will definitely be back!
The sushi was so good! So smooth and tender. Delicious! They forgot to give us soy sauce and 5% off for paying in cash but it is okay, they were very nice and attentive aside from that. The sushi taco was really good!
Attentive and friendly service. Food was tasty and the tacos and pastas were delicious. However, the entree portion size is very small with no sides (eg no small salad, no miso soup) so you will need to order 1.5 to 2X entree.
Flying fish is a hidden gem in this popular Chalmers plaza. While smaller in size, every dish packed a punch that was well worth the value. The sushi tacos were delicious and maintained their crispiness. The pasta was very filling - the spice in the seafood pasta really came through the creaminess of the rose. Id personally recommend the hot dishes over the omakase.
Stumbled upon this place while in the plaza and decided to give this spot a try. Ordered their sake set and one of their pasta dishes. The pasta was pretty good, just a bit on the colder side. Would come back to try other things on their menu.
Korean Japanese Fusion! Always appreciates the innovative dishes! Taco sushi is a big win seared spicy salmon taco sushi that s good! The portion is not small! After that it made us full! Sushi a la crate or omakesa box should be good too because the quality of sashimi seems nice! Cannot wait to try out their pasta
The sushi taco is a must try at this place.
I came here for a weekday dinner. Making a reservation was simple over the phone - the server mentioned they only take RSVPs Tues to Thurs. Upon arriving inside, the space is well decorated and welcoming. Seating is for about 24 people. There were 2 servers, and 2 sushi chefs that were visible to guests. I got my tea promptly and was given their menu. Everything on there looked delicious, and my partner heavily vetted that this was a great restaurant. We ordered: - 2 sushi tacos (ahi tuna and seared spicy sashimi) - torched salmon sushi (idr the full name, but picture included) - 1 12pc Omakase box - lemon cream mozzi shrimp - spicy rose cream seafood pasta First arrived the tacos which imo are amazing! And the best dish of the night. The omakase s miso soup also arrived and was really flavourful. Sadly this is where quality went downhill. The torched sushi was greasy. If you picked it up, you could see how oily the rice was underneath. I powered through this dish, despite feeling like 1/3 of every bite was oozing oil into my mouth. The omakase box arrived next, which was pretty good overall. The mozzi shrimp arrived next, which was also very oily. For $13.50, I expected a more put together dish. Lastly, the pasta. This was a huge disappointment. My partner noticed they didn t get garlic bread and asked the server who confirmed it didn t arrive with garlic bread, but now looking at the reviews others have here in google reviews, and even the picture of THEIR online menu, it DOES come with garlic bread??? My guess is the server may be new, but I would ask she ask for confirmation before she just says no without being sure. We split the dish but the sauce was overly sweet. It was like eating liquid sugar. We told the server who said something like sorry, the sauce comes pre-mixed and we had to ask again for them to balance it. Unfortunately they couldn t but they refunded us the cost of the pasta. Imo it was not edible with how sweet it was. Both of us did not eat more pasta after the first 1-2 bites. My partner also mentioned previously coming here more often (hence heavily vetting and recommending the place to begin with), and size portions have gone down, there s no more garlic bread with pasta, and the quality has noticeably decreased. Overall our bill after tax came up to about $84. If the pasta was included I think it would ve been closer to $105. It wasn t a horrible experience as this 2 star may give off the impression of, but for the pricepoint of the items, much better quality is expected. Going to other local restaurants priced similarily like Moxies or The One give you the appropriate quality of their food items based on their price point. It feels like we paid $81+tip for a $50-$60 quality meal The good stuff: - attentive service - welcoming and cozy atmosphere - tacos were amazing! 10/10 recommend this item in particular. To improve on: - server knowledge - quality of other food items (less oil/grease), improve food portion
Over priced food, pastas are too sweet. Would not waste my money here
This restaurant is amazing! The staff were very kind and enthusiastic, and the food was splendid. The whole atmosphere, from the decor to the music, was perfect. If youre looking for high quality, this is the place. I ordered the Omakase Box B, the tacos, and beef sukiyaki.
Best Japanese Italian fusion pasta!
This has got to be one of my favourite Japanese restaurants! A little bit on the pricier side, but I don t mind because it s a treat for a night out. The menu isn t overwhelming, which helps when it comes to choosing stuff for the table. Perfect sizes for sharing with friends and family. I will say, the only downside is they do not take reservations on weekends, and the wait can get quite long
Friendly and attentive service. Fresh fish. Beautiful presentation. Cozy atmosphere. Thursdays 15% off, pasta not available. Recommend.
Fresh and delicious food is served here. We ve come here several times and food quality is consistent. Tacos are really good! We came on Good Friday late afternoon and it was busy because it appears only one waitress was working. Despite the lack of staff, she was outstanding and worked quick and diligently, kept a smile on and was very polite. I know it s real tough working alone with a full house plus more people waiting outside. Double thumbs up for her her effort. Price is on the higher side, but I find it is worth it because food quality is excellent.
Great food. I highly recommend the sushi tacos. The wasabi carbonara was alright
We were here to celebrate a friend s birthday and we brought a birthday cake, I ask the waitress if it s ok to cut if for us or give us some plates and knife for us to cut it, however we were told there s no outside food allowed. I told her this is a birthday cake and we are here to celebrate a friend s birthday, she went to ask the manager and still told us it is not allowed. I understand if there s a charge for bringing the cake however this is not simply outside food but a birthday cake. The food was average, no alcohol on the menu when we try to order sake. The service is not there. I have to call the waitress to come for ordering food or for giving change. Not a great experience overall.
Everything is perfect but a bit expensive. Everything is perfect but a bit expensive.
Except for the taco, we were very disappointed with the selections ordered. The fish was fresh but sizes were really unacceptable. The friends I brought to were visitors so made me felt very sorry bringing them in a wrong place. We were all not filled but didnt bother to order additional. I will not return for sure, this place is definitely overrated and overpriced.
beautiful and delicious food for special day. excellent service. 100% recommended.
I ordered take out for the torched sushi and some rolls. Very good and price is decent!
highly not recommend overprice, disappointed food. Waitresses provided poor service. We ordered 2 things but took almost an hour to be ready and served to us. AVOID!
I recently dined at Flying Fish, a Japanese restaurant with a group of 8 people. While the food was good, I was disappointed with the service we received. Despite being forced to pay tips for having a large group, we found that nobody returned our dishes or offered us tea refills throughout the meal. This lack of attention made for an overall unpleasant dining experience. While I enjoyed the food, the poor service left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope that the restaurant can improve their service in the future to better accommodate their customers.
This is a restaurant where I am always satisfied because I can eat delicious sushi and pasta together. This is a place I often use via Uber because I can eat with my kids :)
I am a huge fan of Flying Fish Ingredients are very fresh so it tastes fabulous!! I especially love the salmon nori taco. This is AMAZING . Staffs are very kind and I could feel they really manage their restaurant in clean way. I liked it. Highly recommend
Wonderful food! Atmosphere! And service! We enjoyed our family time there!
I took my 11 years old niece out to dinner at Flying Fish for her birthday. She had a fantastic time, trying juicy lemon cream sauce deep fried Shrimps, special rolls, and some Japanese lychee drink! The atmosphere was perfect for the party of two. It s a very small cozy restaurant that they can t hold a huge crowd. We had a very nice conversation and had a wonderful quality time together. Thanks to the talented head chef who cooked us delicious food, and friendly and gentle servers! We ll definitely come back for more! Parking: Lots of free parking space even on a Saturday evening
I had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant. The ambiance was delightful, and the food was both sophisticated and flavorful, combining traditional Japanese and fusion flavors in every dish. The soy sauce used in the sushi and the sauce used in the rice bowl were particularly outstanding, showcasing the chefs passion for creating the perfect flavor profile. The owners dedication to the art of cuisine was evident in every dish, and their thoughtfulness towards their guests made for a truly memorable dining experience. The servers were always smiling and provided excellent service, adding to the overall warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. This restaurant is perfect for a couple date or family dining, and my wife and I were not the only ones who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. The other couples in the restaurant also appeared to be having a great time, making it clear that this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Parking: Fyi: there was a huge free parking lot at the back of the restaurant building.
This restaurant is my favourite sushi restaurant. The food is high quality and fresh. I love noritaco. Especially seared spicy sashimi nori taco. My 7 and 11 year old kids love karaage and pasta! I would absolutely recommend here to my friends.
There are a lot of special foods that you cant see in other sushi restaurants. The food is fresh and delicious. I especially recommend Noritako. Be sure to order it.
This is the best sushi restaurant Ive ever been to!! Especially the nori tacos? It was my first time trying it and it melted in my mouth. I highly recommend it! The pasta is much lighter and more delicious than most pasta restaurants! Next time, I want to try other menus.
Both the spicy rose cream seafood spaghetti (wafu pasta) and soft shell crab futomaki were delicious. No dessert is available though. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian sushi rolls and salads available.
We stopped by this place on Friday evening for date night and wow were we impressed! This small cozy restaurant serves sushi and Japanese pasta but the star is definitely their sushi tacos. We ordered the salmon avocado roll, salmon pressed sushi and a futomaki roll. All of the rolls were delicious although we found the inclusion of asparagus in the futomaki a bit odd. It tasted a little too raw and seemed unnecessary. For the tacos we got the ahi tuna and salmon. Both were outstanding. The tuna was really light and refreshing with a bit of citrus. The salmon taco had some crab in it as well. Super creamy and delicious. There was a ton of great flavors in the filling but the taco shell was also fried to perfection. I hate it when tacos break apart once you bite into and these held up so well and were very easy to eat. When we come back here Ill probably try their other tacos. The service was also very warm and attentive. I appreciated how they kept refilling our cups with hot tea.
Excellent restaurant. Menu is great. Food was really excellent.
Very fresh, and prices were fair value for the quality provided. Prices would double if the same menu is served downtown.
Delicious sushi and lovely presentation. Dine-in is very nice but it can get busy so ensure to arrive a bit earlier than the lunch/dinner rush times. My favorite are the nigiri sushi sets - they include a good variety of premium fish, are well presented and vibrant. Prices have gone up due to inflation and post-covid, but the quality is still there.
They do sushi taco right! Torched shsi was tasty and just right. Small and cozy place and staff was friendly.
Everything was so flavourful. The nori taco was an interesting concept. The restaurant itself has a nice, clean design. Definitely coming back.
Ordered their sushi box a and c, and some torched on the side. Overall very nice and yummy
The dishes are already served. No plates, no chopsticks, no water, no one to ask. Food is good, service is zero
Since I went after 3 oclock, there werent many people and it was nice. I ordered Omakase A and the creamy shrimp was so delicious. The tacos were absolutely delicious and I was satisfied with the pasta and futomaki. I think its the best sushi restaurant in Toronto haha. 100% intention to visit again
Hoping for more varieties to come! Parking is a hassle since there arent many spaces directly in front but if you dont mind a short walk, there is a connected parking lot
Really good value for good food and fresh fish. Love their Japanese inspired pasta dishes (menu has changed and the garlic miso aioli is so good, you gotta try it whether you eat vegetarian or not). Also the takoyaki is a must try!
We got the special salmon plate and it was small in terms of portion. Very thin slices of sashimi, not as flavourful as anticipated. The pasta was good but on the pricier end for it s portion size.
food okay.noodle is good but small portion.Sashimi set not worth the price, portion small and not fresh. I would recommend somewhere else .
Yummy Spaghetti, taco, sushi. Good environment!
not recommended
Picked up these foods because it was my birthday. Cant forget the taste of tacos. Each one was extremely tasty. The savory of the food is still lingering in my mouth. When I think of the food that I could feel the dedication of cooks I want to have the fusion Japanese food again sooner than later. Especially the grilled markerel was awesome!
Very delicious, will go again!
We love this Asian fusion place. Their nori (seaweed) tacos and Japanese pasta are very nice.
The shrimp tempura inside the roll was stale and hard as rock, couldnt eat it. Felt like chewing some kind of rubber soaked in oil. We brought it attention, but the server just said sorry and that was it. Other foods tasted ok, nothing special. Probably wont be going back..
Bomb sushi. We got rolls, tacos and sushi. All were delicious
the food was really good but our server caroline was exceptional! 10/10 would come back here again
Ordered a set menu C. The spaghetti and taco! Loved the taste and texture. Wanted a bit more crispy tempura shell of the taco, though. I now understand why my friend recommended this restaurant strongly. The roll has a bit too much mayo, but the food was overall awesome!
Food is pretty good with fresh fish. Innovative pastas and rolls. Bad service. It s a smaller restaurant so come earlier if you don t want to wait on a weekend. What did we get? Wasabi crème fraiche pasta - pretty good, exactly as it s named. Nothing stands out. Unagi hotate Kushi - star dish. Unique. I like the fried rice. dragon royal - delicious roll. The potato leek bits on top really add Sushi box B - great sushi selection. Got premium fish too. Service wasn t great. Forgot some of our order. Always have to ask the waitress for things such as soy sauce, wasabi, ginger. Didn t fill water.
Nice chill atmosphere with Bruno Mars playing in the background (lucky me) lunch and dinner daily specials. QR code menu or order directly with staff who can willingly explain the dishes. Ordered the dinner special for 2 which includes miso soup, sashimi tacos, choice of sushi and choice of any of their pastas All items made to order, fish was fresh tasting, pasta piping hot heavy on the garlic. Dragon Royal sushi was basically deep fried shrimp wrapped in avocado and seaweed, topped with deep fried taro slivers Their dinner specials are good value for your money.
Expensive, but the taco was literally the best bite of food I ve ever tasted so worth it.
Banger food every time (I ve been twice). The tacos never disappoint and the both the pastas (sukiyaki and napolitan) were good as well. Super sweet/attentive waitresses who refilled water without prompting.
We got the set c and it was amazing! Our server, Sabrina, recommended us the food and surprised us with the dishes. She was super nice and friendly and we re definitely coming back again!
The first one is very interesting, the top is scallops (semi-cooked) with eel and cucumber, and the bottom is deep fried rice . Sushi Tacos is delicious, the seaweed is very crispy . The spaghetti are delicious, but a bit too saucy The other sushi and rolls are above standard.
Had a quick lunch here. The restaurant is small and neat. It got busier close to 1. We ordered the two-person combo, plus extra special rolls and tacos. Everything we tried are pretty good. The pasta is so so though. Price is reasonable. Service is very good.
Went here for lunch on Thursday. Had wasabi cream spaghetti and salmon taco. They were ok. I
Ordered 2 sets and a roll, missed a full roll and 2 nori tacos. On top of that the time it takes is 45 minutes for takeout, and when i got there 50 minutes later it still wasn t ready. Disappointing
The wasabi pasta is so creamy and delicious! Service is always very kind and staff members are professional. The sashimi is so fresh too.
We ordered sets B1, B2, and C to try a bit of everything. The pasta were all good, I liked the sichimi creme one most. We did not really taste any wasabi flavor in the wasabi creme pasta. The rolls were okay too. I didnt enjoy the nori tacos, the concept is interesting to try once, but I wouldnt return for them.
Honestly the best value for the best service and best torched sushi I ve had in Toronto. Prices are very reasonable. And the staff, especially the chefs, are very aware and very accommodating. 100% perfect scores!
I ve been here twice and tried a few things in their menu. I like their Tacos on top of everything on the menu, coz it s unique and it s very tasty!!! Highly recommended it!! Second thing I like is their sushi, very fresh and good variety of fish selections. The Futomaki is huge and delicious as well. Pasta is tasty too but can t compare to the Tacos. Staffs are very friendly BUT I would recommend to make reservations before your visit, always packed with customers.
We came here for lunch on a Sunday. There s not a lot of tables so it does get quite busy. They have a variety of specials available, we opted for the 2 pastas and nori tacos, as well as a side order of karaage. The nori tacos were interesting, never had it before and it was pretty tasty. The pasta was filling but a little bit oily but still yummy. Karaage was pretty average. Overall I would stick with their pastas. Would like to come back and try their rolls.
Taste alright
Delicious sushi and tacos.
Good service, nice food and atmosphere. Love to come back! Food
Very cute japanese restaurant in Markham. Went there for a lunch with friends and ordered many different plates to share. Their fish tacos are amazing and loved their asian inspired pastas! The atmostphere is very cozy and cute and service was great. (The washroom was very clean ) plenty of parking. I d def come back!
Highly recommend the pastas and special rolls. We ordered set C that included a pasta, special roll, and two sushi tacos but I feel the need to remind people that the price for the set dinners are based on cheapest pasta, roll, taco, etc. If you were to order a pasta for example, that was more expensive, the difference would be added to the set price, so it really isnt secret value. The nigiri was the most disappointing of the dinner. The fish was cut thin and narrow and overall, the sashimi and sushi are overpriced for the given quality. The portions in general are on the smaller side but enough to satiate your cravings. Will be back to try other pastas and menu items.
It was a unique experience with all the fusion style Japanese food with very fresh fish and ingredients. I definitely want to go back to have another dish, especially the wafu pasta. I am excited to have them wine pairing food with specialty wine coming soon.
Absolutely love the place. Very interesting concept - you get mix of pasta, sushi, seafood, beef. Weve tried a bit of everything and tacos are our fav. Lunch price is very competitive and you get great variety of food. Dinner is good if you get a set for 2. Will certainly go back.
This is ok sushi. It is definitely better than other sushi places in Burlington (one of which also happens to have another location in Hamilton, the other competitor is only just one location in Burlington), but by better I mean ok or edible. We had a variety of sushi. Most of them we not tight and tended to fall apart upon being picked up. Rice: Universally dry, but not too dry. Fish quality: The red tuna was disgusting and grey. It tasted off to me. However, everything else was fine and edible (being mostly salmon). Uniqueness: No. Would I order again?: Not really. We are no longer desperate for mid-tier sushi at any point or time. This location is fine. Really. Even though Im hoping the red tuna doesnt make me ill in a few hours. Its just really mediocre and felt like a chain in a mall. Still, again (compared to two other locations in Burlington) its better. So far, best of the worst. My standard for real sushi is Hoseki and Masayuki, also in Burlington.
No service at all.
Small place but has very decent food options. Tastes good, decent portions.
Their sushi Rolle is just something next level.
A pretty neat spot, and pretty delicious sushi tacos!
Came for lunch, surprisingly it was not busy. We ordered the lunch special for 2 and portions were adequate. We enjoy the fusion aspect of the dishes and they were quite good. Will certainly come back again. Our fave were the tacos so crispy!
Wow! It was fantastic service and food. Food looks beautiful and very tasty. Specifically, sushi and rolls are great.
A grilled sushi restaurant with good value for money and delicious taste
If I can give 0 stars, I will.. This place provides no service at all. It s like you either come in or get out.
They Totally forgot my reservation and told me to leave after I was 5 min late. Ridiculous.
All foods we ordered were great! rose pasta was a little spicy but really good, seafoods in it were so fresh. And beef bulgogi taco was amazing! Definately Ill come again. Food : 5/5 |
The eel rolls are all super good. The rest is good too.
They were busy! Food is great and staff is amazing!
The food comes out cleanly and is overall delicious!
Service wasn t the fastest but understandably so because the food was amazing!! So fresh and delicious flavours. Omg. I ve never had sushi with shiitake mushrooms before and it s so amazing. The woman serving us was a delight. She recommended the unknown dragon roll and it was amazing. She also gave us free miso soup and a free desert. Wonderful and clean restaurant.
Had the pleasure of dining at the Flying Fish. Really recommend rose, napolitan, wasabi cream pastas, the aburi sushi, especially the sashimi punch futomaki and the chicken karaage. This place would be perfect for a date night.
Its like a fusion Japanese restaurant, but portions are small and price is a bit high compare with others.
What a great place to eat! The service was great, the atmosphere is great, and best of all, food was outstanding! I was too busy eating, so I couldn t capture pictures of the food, but the presentation was also great. It s a fusion restaurant, based off sushi. If you are looking for a new restaurant to try, definitely go here!
Very unique dishes. Exceptional!
Food taste good but portion is toooooo small, u guys need to give a bit more pasta. It was just lumch and the group of us all girls came out not feeling full.
Amazing food, amazing service, Very unique taste but super good. Been here for a couple times already , always enjoyed the food and kind service. Highly recommend ! A+++ Food : 5/5
The tacos were amazing! Highly recommended.
This is a restaurant with really delicious food and a good atmosphere. I highly recommend you visit once.
It was so delicious. Whatever I ate, it exceeded my expectations. The level of sushi is different ^^ May you prosper
Lovely boutique restaurant on highway7. Food was fantastic, I live little far from here but i would visit again.
Had dinner here the other night, while the food was very presentable, we found that the food took too long to prepare so we waited very patiently. Price was high for where it is situated but it was an attempt to try once. Unless if this place is situated in an area of upscale fine dining experience then I would accept the long artistic preparations. Situated at the edge of Richmond Hill with many foodie options nearby. Not sure if everyone is of Korean descent employed but having a mixture of cultural employees can also be beneficial to translate to curious cultural foodies since it is situated within the Asian mix of cuisines.
They changed the menu and its just not the same anymore
I went to flying fish twice. One time for lunch and one time for dinner. Some of my friends recommended this place to me. However, both of visits are not too impressive with their foods. Selections are limited. For the price and what they offer. I will say it is more expensive than what you get, and I think their raw fishes are good qualities but the sushi rices are kinda dry and not very tasty comparing to the other Japanese sushi places. The customer services are quite good. Waitress are friendly and they offer phone reservation. You can book table ahead. They do offer pasta and taco. However, I am not too impressived by it.
Crispy taco sushi, spicy wasabi pasta that cuts through the greasiness with a popping texture, and moist rolls - great value for money! Happy lunch time!
My partner and I love seafood! We had the lobster and it was sooo good. Must try!
The impressive salmon sushi and Japanese-style tacos were amazing! Having a bulgogi taco and an unagi one was a phenomenon. Thats why I drew a picture of them. Lol. Definitely will come back soon for more tasty foods. Oh! My friend loved wasabi cream pasta a lot!
Good fusion Japanese+ Italian + Mexican food. Small place with good food. Food
Warm and intimate atmosphere. The manager was cordial and welcoming.
Thinnest fish ever seen on a sushi The chef definitely has skills and audacity to have sliced up a piece of Maguro fish as thin as this, that you can see right through it and appreciate the fine sushi rice that sits underneath it. Can you even call it a sushi? Never have I seen a sushi with paper thin piece of fish on top of rice. This is absurd. Look at this and Judge for yourself in terms of what you will pay and what you will actually get.
Its great to have dinner with my husband tonight. Foods are so creative and delicious. We ordered 4 tacos, some sushi and a wasabi pasta, taste are so good. Service is excellent, especially the young Korean young guy who works so hard, and keeps smiling to service customers during a peak time. Thanks for the chefs for such a great meal. We will come again.
