Writing this review not to earn a free fried dumplings 🥟. They deserve such a rating since it aligns with our taste bud. Every single dish is very tasty and flavourful inclusive the side dishes. Initially I was doubtful with the review until I tasted it. Service was great and not to mention their fried seafood pancake, pork bone soup and seafood tofu soup warm your heart for such a cold winter. Thanks for your meal 🍽️
PLEASE don't trust the high review rating - they're all because they give you free dumplings for a 5 Star review before you even eat. You can tell from the high number of reviews and how many they get in a day (sort by recent), especially from people who don't review much. Because of this, I was suspicious of their ratings from the beginning and I'm sad to say my gut feeling was right. The bulgogi was so dry I had to dip it in my soup. The soup & kimchi was spicier than you'd expect. The mackerel was quite small. They forgot one of our orders until we were almost done eating and when we asked for a tea refill they took the pot away and never gave it back. Service was basically non existent unless you wave them down even though the place wasn't busy. The pricing isn't very good either for what you get. I'm giving 2 stars only because the side dishes were decent, but I don't like that they're bumping up their reviews and misleading others. I definitely won't be returning.
I recently visited this Korean restaurant and tried their pork stew. It was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spice. We had dinner here on a weekend evening, and the restaurant had a lively but comfortable atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the stone pot bibimbap and beef tofu stew, which were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The side dishes were fresh and complemented the meal beautifully. Absolutely amazing! The army stew pot at Hongdae Korean Restaurant is hands down the best I’ve ever had. It’s packed with so many ingredients—perfectly cooked meats, flavorful dumplings, and a variety of toppings that make every bite satisfying and delicious. The broth is rich and savory, bringing all the components together beautifully. On top of that, the side dishes are a standout on their own! All five are fresh, flavorful, and complement the stew perfectly. A must-try spot for anyone craving authentic Korean comfort food. Can’t wait to come back!
Unexpectedly good! Came here for a simple meal, but was pleasantly surprised how good everything was! The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. We wanted to order more, but the server reminded us that what we had ordered were enough, and he was right! Saved us a few bucks, will definitely come back for more!
Probably the best Korean place in Richmond hill. We have a very exciting experience in here, food was packed with delicious flavours. Their beef stew has a very clean flavour and I would definitely recommend it. Highly recommended this place and will come back for sure.

This is a hidden gem in Richmond Hill. The staff are great, friendly and very fast and the food is amazing. Definitely give it a try and I promise you youll be coming back again.

Ordered kimchi stew, seafood tofu stew and kimchi pancake. The stews taste good and the seafood tofu really uses soft tofu which we can hardly find in other places. The kimchi pancake is very big with plenty vegetables in it. The kimchi side dishes also taste good.

Came on a cold snowy night for dinner. The restaurant had a cottage cabin feel to it (wooden wall panels, fake fireplace, xmas lights), which instantly made the place very welcoming. We were greeted right away even though a table wasnt available right away. Service was great throughout the whole meal. Food was good. Will definitely come back again.

Came here on a Saturday night, and it was bustling! We ordered the Pork Bone Soup and the Sweet and Sour chicken. The banchan was excellent especially the egg plant and fish cake. Reminds me of authentic Korean food from Hongdae. The sweet and sour pork had a touch too much vinegar or pear flavour for me personally, but on the plus side they separated the sauce. I plan to adjust to taste when I finish the leftovers tomorrow.

This place is so good! We arrived at 5pm and didnt have to wait for a table. Ive heard it gets pretty busy here but we came at the perfect time. We ordered lots of dishes and every single thing we ordered was so good. We travelled all the way from Ajax and will be back soon!

A warm restaurant in our local neighbourhood. Food came out quick and HOT, along with signature Korean side dishes. Highly recommend if you re looking for hot dishes during a cold day. Staff are friendly and filled the teapot when it was empty.

The pork bone soup was hearty and deeply flavorful, with tender meat falling off the bone. The broth had just the right balance of spice and richness. It was comfort in a bowl perfect for a cold day!
I would give it a 4 star but the food value sucks. Great side dishes, some exceptional dishes like the kalbijin, but other typical Korean dishes can be enjoyed elsewhere for less and better taste.
