815 Major Mackenzie Dr E, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 9X2, Canada
We will be closed on Dec 25, 26 and 27 giving staff members spending more time with their family, during this Christmas holydays.
Food and service is amazing! Kudos to the lady from KL! Forgot to ask for her name and she is absolutely amazing! Even tho we came to the restaurant late (7:30pm which is their last call for food) and she still welcome us with a big smile! Roti Canai is authentic and teh tarik as well
A fan favourite for south East Asian food and one of the few places where spicy means spicy! Hainanese chicken is great. Same with the pineapple fried rice and roti. Fried chicken, rice noodles and green curry are tasty. The sambal fish is spicy so be warned if you can’t take spice! Though a teh tarik (iced tea) to wash it down makes it all better!
Had dinner here with family, the portions were very generous and the food was super tasty. We were able to enjoy the flavours of the food, the meat was super tender. The noodles and chicken were delicious as well. Service was fast and there was always someone near to wait on us if needed.
A little bit underwhelming. Had wanted to try this place for a while so visited for their lunch menu. ✅ The curry was tasty but the papadom didn't feel like it was baked onsite. Very similar to shop bought. ✅ The lunch menu price was quite reasonable (less than $15 per dish) and well portioned. ✖️ The cutlery hadn't been properly washed and had some dried food stick to it. I had to request a replacement. ✖️ The Pad Thai noodle was too hard. The vegetable in the soup was under-cooked and quite bland. Chilli sauce did help a bit. ✖️ The service felt a bit sad. I love restaurants where the people that work there are passionate about the food they serve and have high standards. I didn't get that vibe today. Will certainly try again but was underwhelmed with my first visit.
It’s our first time trying Malaysian food and I am clueless about it but our server was welcoming and very helpful. He is very attentive about our preferences. The foods that he suggested were mouthwatering and the food were very tasty. We found out that Sambal dishes are very spicy, we shed a tear or two but it’s worth “our tears”. Highly recommendable.
Food was good for the dishes we ordered. Had Singapore laksa, Penang Kway Teow and kang kong belachan (chilli). Quite authentic Malaysian food. Portion quite big. Service is ok. Waitress was abit arrogant.
Food was good portion, taste was amazing. Came super fast. Service was also really good. If you don’t know what to get just ask the server.
There's something oddly "familiar" about Malaysian cuisine (in a good way!), while it hits the usual flavour profile common in Asian food there's a unique use of the turmeric spice. Add in the healthy mix of roties and curries and you quickly have very delicious south eastern / carribean feel in an Asian package! And there's a lot to choose from, I especially love their satays (beef and chicken) and malayan fried chicken. If you're a curry lover, get the beef, the pieces are very tender but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service was very friendly and very fast, everything we asked for came quickly and with a smile 😃.
Went here for dinner today with friends, having been here several times before. Delicious as always. The waiter Joyce service is very good. I will definitely introduce more friends to eat there for sure
Must visit place for authentic taste of malaysian food. I enjoyed their singapore fried rice, pad thai, lunch appetizer, beef rendang
Delicious foods and some of the friendliest service anywhere.
The portions are quite generous and that s about it.
Restoran Malaysia is a halal Malaysian restaurant, that Id recommend all to try! Bunch of free parking spots within the parking lot if you go there during the day. This place specializes in Malaysian cuisine. Ive been here multiple times and always order different things. This time we ordered the (1) Murtabak, (2) Chicken Fried Rice, (3) Chicken & Beef Satay, (4) Classic Indonesian Beef Rendang, and (5) Lychee Basil Drink. The Murtabak, and Satay was amazing and would recommend all to try! The aesthetics for this place is so cute, they have comfy seatings, have a mini fish aquarium, and its kid and family friendly. Customer service is amazing, the staff was super kind, and theyd recommended different dishes for us to try! Vegetarian options: Has vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Halal and vegetarian options available Parking: Lots of parking available Kid-friendliness: Super kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, its wheelchair accessible
Best Malaysian food on this side of Canada! Very quick service. You cannot go wrong with the Teh Tarik and Roti Canai. They take Amex as well! Food
Excellent service and food
Ive been eating the Singapore Laksa for almost 20 years here, still one of my favourite restaurants in the GTA Vegetarian options: Most things have a vegetarian option, which is perfect
Been eating here for years. Today, found a cockroach in the pad thai. Never going back. So gross, so disappointed.
Delicious food with friendly service. I would definitely recommend everyone.
They force you to give you tips which is absolutely bullshit it s very much disappointing if you wanna have dine in make sure you talk to them first about tips (which they forced you to give)
Great food and overall the staff were very pleasant however I was put off quite a bit by one staff member (male, blonde hair in a bun) who urinated and then didnt wash his hands and proceeded to serve patrons after. Kind of ruined my appetite.
My number one go to places for Malaysian food
We have tried all kinds of Indian, Thai and Viet currries in the GTA. My son always craves their beef roti ( appetizers). Its a bit spicy and he cant handle spice well, but he loves it that much to eat it all.
The food, flavor, portions and service were incredible. Visited with 20 people in our party and it didnt disappoint.
Large portions - ordered 4 dishes & waiter thought we could order more. Had to bring some home!
JUST BAD ALL AROUND! Serving size is really tiny, overpriced and we needed 8 dishes and 2 appetizers for 6 people! The basil dishes only meant that they put two attached basil leaves on top as garnish. The angel fire beef was bitter and inedible. Service was mediocre - you ask for the bill, they clean up the table. You order another dish, they dont take the order. Furthermore, you have to be suspicious when there is a Buddha up front where they ask you for donations if you rub it. It does not say where the donations would go and many $5 bills inside .... hmmm. CASH ONLY, NOT EVEN DEBIT CARDS .... makes you wonder.
YUK! First time, bad food, shame on you. Second time, bad experience, shame on me. We went for weekday lunch specials andthe noodle dish was basically all noodles, with minimal meat and veggies. Forgetting how bad lunch was, we went for dinner a year later. Boy, did we feel ripped off. The serving size was small and expensive. You need 1.5x serving and appetizers to be slightly full. My SE Asian friend said it was a 2 out of 10 at best. Under the table cash only. Dont be surprised OWNER will say in reply Im a competitor writing a bad review (Im not).
Excellent food and service.
Good selection of Vietnamese foods
Considered authentic Malaysian food, char kueh teaw, Melaka nasi Lemak, curries with roti, stays, Indonesian gado gado, Penang Assam laksa etc are not bad. Stays are nice , a bit pricy.
Every order, every time ON POINT!! Over 10 years enjoying their food! Enjoy!!
The food was incredible, the portion sizes were generous and the service was amazing. All the dishes were cooked to perfection, had a great level of spice and the prices were very reasonable.
Great service and food
We had a few dishes on a quick lunch break. Great service by the lady and the food was good, along with price and quality.
Staffs have expectation on how much you should order and give you face and words if you order less. Same happened if you eat slowly. if you don t mind service then overall food is not that bad.
Sunday lunch with friends here was great. The food was good, service amazing and atmosphere nice. Their roti, noodles and coffee are sooooo delicious!
We went there and ordered a coconut rice with beef. They served 2 slices of beef and one was spoiled. We told the waiter and just wanted him to notify the kitchen staff, in case they serve the bad meat to the other customers, especially kids. But the boss just didnt care, and he assumed we were trying to complain for a discount. We felt so offended, but the boss rejected to communicate with us. On the same day my friend who ate that piece of beef got diarrea very badly. We checked online and found it always have sanitation problem
Food was not fresh, I had a stomachache after eating
I love the chicken rice, especially the house made sauce, and the , and the curry with Roti. Quite authentic Malay dishes.
Meat is not fresh!
3/5 Food are okay nice, but waiter seems pretty rushed and always want you to order more expensive food Food
The cooking of this family-owned restaurant is simply delicious. We have been coming to dine at this restaurant for many years to enjoy dishes like Penang Char kuay teow, basil eggplant with mince chicken, Pad Thai, Singapour laska, yellow curry chicken and their homemade roti. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Enjoyable food. However, the customer service left much to be desired. I hope they can improve their service, as the food truly deserves it!
We visited yesterday.
Oh my gosh very authentic Malaysian taste. They were surprised to see my order for laksa penang and became more surprised when I told them I used to live in Johor Bahru. I must say we felt nostalgic with food and went down memory lane. So yummy and original taste. Definitely going again. Very good quantity too. Terima kasih
Food is really good, been there for a few times before rating. But their drinks are very slow every time. They always serve the food before the drinks. The last time I went, the drinks was even served after the food are all done. I think they should improve this part.
We tipped the server and she said it wasnt enough and she insisted we have to pay more. We are very disappointed at last
The FOOD here is just amazing, been going for years, not so much now though, as the new hours of this restaurant are absurd. They close at 7:30pm, even on Friday and Sat., so it is difficult to include this Restaurant in our Dinner Plans.
We went to Restoran Malaysia for dinner and it was very busy. We arrived around 7:15 pm and there were plenty of people waiting to be seated. But it didn t take long and we got a table. We ordered Singapore chicken rice, Indonesian fried rice, mixed chicken / beef satay, and roti with curry beef. Chicken rice was good but doesn t taste as authentic as the ones in Singapore. Since this is one of my favorite dishes, I could tell if there is something missing in it. Mixed chicken / beef satay probably was the best. The meat was soft, flavorful, and tender. Very delicious. Roti with curry beef was good too - not too spicy. My husband loved it! Indonesian friend rice was very delicious as well. I was surprised of the serving size. I didn t realize I ordered so much food for 3 people. The staff who served us was very pleasant. We will definitely come again.
This is one of the best place in Richmond Hill. Food Quality is top notch, always tasty and consist. Their customer service is amazing, the servers make.you feel home. Their roti reminds me of Paratha back home. This place is authentic, exotic and consistently tasty.
Nice ambiance, prompt service, food quality was good, but it was a bit expensive though!
That roti canai took me right back to my favourite mamak. Made fresh to order it s definitely the best Malaysian food I have had so far in Canada. Will definitely be back when I am missing Malaysia.
As a Chinese Malaysian, this is one of the two spots I know in the area that serve Malaysian food. Ill be honest, the other restaurant has more authentic Malaysian food but this restaurant is much closer to me in Richmond Hill. My wife and I always get the same thing: Char Kway Teow, Wat Tan Hor, and 2 Rotis. This usually lasts us 2 meals so the price is quite good for what you are getting. We love how they cook the noodles and you can only get that style at limited places. The most recent time we got the rotis, they were really sweet like dessert, so I would no longer recommend it. The rotis are supposed to be dipped in curry, but it seems like they changed the recipe to make it sweet. We still order from here once every other month as it is affordable and decent food.
Been coming here for years but portions are small for lunch takeout. Only a few (6) pieces of chicken for the price. Flavour is average. There are better options in the area
Totally overrated! Food was below average. Small portion. Pricey for the quality of food. Disappointed! Will not go back.
Food has gotten better recently so upgrading to 4 stars.
One of my favourite restaurants. We would travel from downtown Toronto to Restoran Malaysia just to eat here. We manage to go when it s not the busiest time or day and it helps because we don t have to wait for a table. Most of their food is good. My Go To is the Singaporean chicken rice (no photo). We also had the shrimp char kuay teow and the butter prawns with oats (not on menu but they will do it for you if you ask them, I ve ordered it several times). Worth it. Ask for the price first, it s a little pricey but the prawns are huge and the flavour is worth the price! They have a long list of drinks, juices. Not the kind you d find elsewhere so it would be worth trying. Highly recommend! I m also a bit biased since I enjoy Malaysian food! Vegetarian options: A lot of choices!
Great food.
We went there today Friday at 645pm. There were empty tables and they told us they dont serve past 730pm. This actually happened to someone else we knew too. They must be having kitchen chef issues but they are losing customers for this. Terrible to close so early for dinner.
Great food and friendly service. Its always a good time here! House hot sauce is amazing.
We went last night around 6 pm and by the time we were seated many of the dishes were not available (sold out). Generally the overall food standard was ok but we were disappointed with the washroom. The stalls and floors were dirty, very wet with toilet paper everywhere on the floor. They really should pay more attention to the washrooms!
Very yummy food good quantity we had lunch with friends so sat there after lunch talking and chatting. Friendly staff.
This place has one of the best Hainaese chicken rice (Singapore chicken rice) and in all of Toronto! The server was very friendly and the restaurant owner and his sons were also very friendly. Very authentic and good price for the quality of the food and nice vibe.
The staff there is extremely rude and dominating. The ambiance is too dark and makes it hard to read their menu. They try to fill up corner seats where there is no light. When requested to change our table because we could not see the menu, the Asian woman said, You need glasses then and started laughing. I have been there before and had the worst experience at that time too. Their service is extremely poor and they never improve their customer service.
May 2024. The restaurant was empty, we asked to change our table as there was no light above our table and it was hard to see the menu. We were told to get eye glasses. Some of the staff is extremely rude.
My first time. The eggplant is super flavorful and probably my favorite. The green beans were super crunchy and deliciously seasoned with garlic. The fish in coconut milk and veggies was delectable. The beef and chicken skewers are a house favorite, and the beef was super tender and moist and flavorful! Next time I m only getting the beef. The server was super friendly and smiley. He recommended the skewers. The pomegranate and Leche drink was perfectly balance balanced. Not too sweet, and wonderful wonderful. Five stars from me!
Delicious food. Nice atmosphere but not really nice washrooms. They need to be renovated. You need to come earlier because of long lines. The restaurant is always full.
Really good Malaysian restaurant with really good durian milkshake, rojak, roti canai , mango green salad , hainanese chicken rice , seafood satay with cucumber , wat tan ho , Kuey Teow, belacan ocra with shrimp and asparagus, mutton !!!!!!
Out family go to restaurant. Always a pleasure!
Cash 5% off
Food is not halal here
We have been coming here since I was a kid. Nasi goreng, beef green curry, and of course, the beef tenderloin satay is awesome. Highly recommend the tea as well. Staff is super friendly and welcoming.
Tge food was really high quality and the staffs were friendly.
The food is amazing but the server who served us was very very rude and asked for a tip upfront which i was ready to give beforehand and she told us dont come again here dine in cause she wasnt satisfied with $5 tip for 2 lunch items we ordered only. Very very sad to get this response from joyce the server.
The best Malaysian food around, fair price and good portion.
I usually dont write bad reviews but this was one of the worse restaurant experiences I had. I ordered the mutton lamb curry with roti. The top few pieces were lamb but underneath was all beef instead. I informed the server and the manager insisted it was lamb even though it was clearly beef. Even for the beef, it was dry and the few pieces of lamb that I had were all bone. I felt scammed with my food as ordering lamb was more expensive than beef. The roti was sweeter than other places than savory. Service was terrible as I felt rushed when ordering and the way they would not admit they replaced lamb with beef was the worse. I would NEVER come back here.
Nice food with customer service
Today at about 7pm i visit with my family to feed my baby i bring the milk inside the lady on the reception wont allow me in and making arrangements the drink is not allowed with full of attitude by keep tell that she dont care . you think i am stupid i am not bringing that milk for me management should take serious action and allow at least milk for the baby or you guys gonna provide
Came once every season due to it s a bit of a drive from downtown However it is a must eat in my list that my click always reminds me The signature food is the laksa and the curries as well as the Indonesian stir fry and satay skewers The lady name Angela was always here doing a great job serving and giving her honest suggestions love this place
Food was amazing, I got the black pepper beef with flat noodles very flavourful and large portion sizes. Everything is Halal. Thing came in a timely manner, it can get really busy.
Blown away by the variety of dishes offered, and nice to see so many vegetarian options. We loved everything! Authentic Malaysian food and special kopi coffee, a must try! Staff were so friendly and service was great. We will be back :)
TL; DR - Favourite Malaysian restaurant by far! Must try. Been dining here for years and easily one of my favourite restaurants (not just for Malay cuisine). Flavours and quality has been consistent and so many delicious options! Almost always order at least one of these: Char Kway Teow, Mutton Curry w/ Roti (but all the other curries are also fantastic, be it red, green or yellow), Singapore Chicken Rice, Indonesian Fried Rice, Satay Seafood Skewers, Shrimp Chips, Coconut Rice. Drinks: Iced Coffee is superb along with their Mango Freeze. Dessert: Best Purple Rice! More on the thicker side which we love. Theyre also flexible on making adjustments for allergies. Partner had a gluten free period and thankfully, we still had options here. Overall, I trust their cooking completely and would venture to try everything on their menu without thinking twice.
A staple in Richmond Hill. Unfortunately their mixer wasnt working when I last attended and therefore couldnt get their roti and curry dish. Their roti is one of my favorite in town! Everything else was high quality as usual. Their restaurant has not changed for over 10 years and believe they are due for a reno as paint and other wear and tear are evident in the dining/washroom areas. Sometimes these things are overlooked in the restaurant business, especially in popular spots like this. However, the atmosphere/cleanliness/appearance all work together in the overall dining experience.
Good service and great food!
Big portions good if you.like spicy food, it is not my flavour
Its not cash-only anymore Parking: Plenty on the West side. Food : 5/5 |
We got take out of Mee Goreng which was ok. Nothing special. We also got beef kway teow. And it had a few pieces of egg shell in it : ( the dish tasted delicious but after finding the shell, it wasn t as appealing.
We were blown away by the immense service and quality of food we received today. We were instantly transported back to Malaysia. The teh tarik and roti canai are to die for. The owner is such a hospitable person. We can t wait to bring our whole family here. Coming here will definitely be a new tradition.
An oldie but a goodie. Love the local Malay street flavor. But price is high but you are getting the real Malaysian flavors
You can not go wrong with Restoran Malaysia. Food is tasty (especially curry & roti, their steam chicken & rice), staff are friendly. The place is always crowded and noisy. Go early as they close around 8pm. They dont take reservations but its worth the wait.
Ordered App Share Platter, Malay Curry Chicken, Minced Chicken with Basil, and Indonesian Fried Rice. The only dish that is above average would be the App Share Platter. Malay Curry Chicken is tasteless and gets cold very easily though unsure why. Minced Chicken with Basil is too salty. Indonesian Fried Rice is just ok. I could taste the burnt from the wok. Didnt even bother to wrap up the leftovers to go.
Xiaohongshu sincerely doesn t deceive me. It s delicious. I ordered something for $100. It s enough for two people to eat twice. The price/performance ratio is pretty good.
Absolutely bustling place on a Friday evening, with fast turnaround on food servings and super efficient service. We had their mixed skewers (mutton/beef), which had a bit of sweet taste but loved the beef skewers. We had also the chicken Murtabak, which was ordinary but as it reminded us of Yemeni Mutabaq, it did fill some of that space. Finally we had the Penang Char Kuay Tiew, which was a generous serving and got tastier as we had more. There s a lot indoor seating with decent amount of parking. Thanks!
Good food
Great food. Feels like I m back on KL.
I had never tried Malaysian food before, so the waitress was super helpful for selecting which kinds of dishes to order.
Delicious food, take out organized and on time
2nd time here, and the overall experience is consistent. Since the last time I came here (some years ago) it used to be cash only. Service is excellent and very attentive. Plenty of seating and overall venue is presentable. For food we ordered the following; -Curry sauce with Roti -Assortment of Skewer served with peanut sauce -Beef curry with Roti -Penang Char Kuay Teow -Black pepper beef Kuay Teow Portion wise, well worth it and prices are reasonable. Taste and quality are always maintained. No complaints!
Overall, good food and service. Their Mutton curry with roti is really good!
The food is delicious!
If I could give the staff more than five stars for the service, I would! The food was great, all our food came out at a timely manner and they made sure to check on our table several times during our meal. I would definitely recommend this place! Food, service, and atmosphere is definitely five stars!
Excellent Halal Malaysian food. Service definitely needs improvement Food
Ordered roti curry beef and seafood satay. To be honest, I like the roti curry beef which was yummy especially the chewy bread. But the cucumber in the seafood satay plate didn t seem to be clean as there was a super strong fishy taste/smell, making me feel whether they had cleaned up the chopping board/knife and if there was any hygiene issue. The seafood satay had a strong coconut taste and it was the first time I had seafood with a coconut flavour. My stomach had some bad reaction and I puked soon after coming back home. I don t know if it was due to some hygiene issue or the coconut flavour. The staff were very nice so I gave them 5 stars but only 2 stars for the food mainly because of the cucumber chops.
Vegetarian options: Great choices here too. Everyone was happy and satisfied. Dietary restrictions: Staff ask re: food allergies before we ordered and confirmed what dishes had possible allergy type stuff Parking: Very busy plaza. Be prepared to wait during mealtimes! Kid-friendliness: Ok- lots of families during our first dine-in experience. Our young guest loved the chicken rice and soup combo! Wheelchair accessibility: Ok
Will come again
Food is great and reasonable price
Great Malaysian food! Quick service and friendly staff. They accept card payment now too which is convenient!
Very good satay and Roti. Very good service and dining experience.
The food was decently authentic. I had the Kuala Lumpur style Hokkien mee, which is in dark sauce rather than the Singapore style one with the prawn based stock. The roti could have been crispier but the curry that came with it was good.
Best curry, my wife normally doesnt eat spicy food, but she had a lot that day, we had to add a second round to try more food
One of very few authentic Malaysian restaurants. Offers a nice taste of home with many of the dishes not offered in other restaurants. Ambiance is always lovely. Char Koay Teow EXCELLENT! Beautifully seasoned and good wok hei with very generous large shrimps! The roti canai with chicken flavour was also very authentic. Very generous with the serving size both chicken and curry. Good to the last drop! Roti was light and flaky.
Restoran Malaysia have been around for many years, I visited them at least 10 years ago if not longer. We came here this time on a Saturday (Lunch around 11:30am). No need to wait for a table for two at this time. Everyone is super friendly here. We ask our server to recommend a few dishes for us and she is really taking the time to explain the menu to us. We ordered some Malay style curry with meat (Coconut curry with thin sause so you can eat with rice or roti). We also ordered a dry curry dish which is very nice as well. We also ordered the coconut steam rice which is not bad. Nothing is too spicy here but it is very personal. We will come back and try their MEDAN FRIED CHICKEN. Parking is a real challenge here and it took me a good 10 minutes to wait for a parking spot. Price is a bit on the high side for lunch but you pay for what you get.
GOOD FOOD
Really good food. Portions are large. We love their roti. Theyre very large pieces, but we never share. Service was friendly and quick. We also like their variety of drinks. Only issue is that the lighting is dim. Had to use my phone to see the menu. Parking: Small lot. Can be hard to get a spot at times.
The food here is so good. The service needs to be worked on.
Food was delicious and service was great! My husband and I came here for the afternoon and they had an awesome lunch special menu. Prices were very affordable and we really enjoyed the food. We would definitely be coming back again soon. Thanks Restoran Malaysia!
Always a pleasure to come here. Glad they are now accepting credit and debit card payments
Clean atmosphere, fast service, tasty food, convenient location.
Deserves 5 stars ive been here a lot of times for a couple of years.
Satay: Beef and sheep are delicious, but they are not easy to share and taste at the same time. Curry pancake is delicious, the pancake would be even better if it were crispy
Top tasting Malaysian/Sinaporean restaurant in Richmond Hill. Came here for lunch, all items on lunch menu were $11, very good value. Thai Minced Chicken Rice was flavorful and big portion was served along with a fried egg and sliced oranges as palette cleansers. Singapore Chicken Rice tasted authentic as they used plain white chicken instead of the yellow skinned chicken found in Hong Kong cafe. Rice was fragrant and you can smell the herbs and chicken stock. Singapore fish ball noodle soup was light tasting. We ordered it flat rice noodle or alternatively you can pair it with vermicelli. Gado Gado salad is our go to appetizer. It has cooked bean sprouts, jicama, boiled egg and shredded cucumber with rich tasting fresh peanut sauce that comes with shrimp chips on the side. Servers were friendly and attentive. Restaurant is very clean, they have wall dividers setup, so it feels like youre sitting in booths. However, your clothing does smell a bit greasy upon exit. Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian dishes, but most items contain a serving of meat. Parking: Free but busy parking lot shared with other on site businesses.
We came here for the first time for dinner. The dishes were great and the services excellent. Well definitely come back. Food
Food is very good , service is good also.
Delicious, high quality food, inexpensive given todays market. Amazing service, try their lunch special
The host lady was quite rude from start. I gave her no tip at the end and she was confronting me for that. Ask them to learn some manners before asking for a tip. Food was okay though.
Fried chicken and Indonesian rice tasted good as usual. However, wanted to order Tung Choi from the menu but they said it s sold out , just like most Asian restaurants. If you don t have it, just be honest and say you don t have it .The portion size shrunk while the price went up. I know there s inflation, but that s not how you do business hate not feeling full after paying a bunch
The food here is a bit of hit or miss. Ive tried many different Malay dishes here: some were just okay, while others were great. My favorite so far is mamak-mee-goreng. The dishes tend to be spicier than expected. So, if you prefer hot, order medium; and if you like medium, request mild.
Great food Great service Great price Food : 5/5
The service was really bad and inconsiderate. The employees argued in public.
Very expensive on what you get. Also cash only??? Are you trying to evade taxes??
This is my second time visiting Restoran Malaysia and both time the food was great. A word of advise: the food is very spicy so in case you dont enjoy very spicy food mention to your server the level of spiciness you would be comfortable with. Food
This place is amazing. I have been going there since they had half of the dates they now have. The good of halal and it is so tasty. The service is pretty good and cordial. It is too bad cash only but now they accept Visa. From appetizers to desserts this is the place too have a good family meal. I believe it is will pierced for what you get. The good is fresh and will cooked. My only suggestion are the washrooms, they are getting old and outdated and in need of some love. Amazing place! I always overspend her because I take leftovers home!!!
Food pretty good. Recommend roti, like the mild sweetness. Best fried rice and noodle ever. The green bean not so good, a little bit raw and lack of flavour. Plan to go again
Food is good; however, it is Canadianized. I think the owner would like to fit the Canadian customers and make such adjustments. Overall the taste of the food is great. The roti is excellent.
Great food, great service!
Great food, coming here for years
Restoran Malaysia was recommended by two friends, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious!
Singapore laksa , roti curry
The food here was really good and arrived very fast! The pratas and teh tasted very similar to what youd find in a hawker center in Singapore or Malaysia. Would definitely recommend.
It has been awhile since we last came to this restaurant. We ordered the following: 1. iced red bean with coconut milk 2. Penang char kuey teow (loved the texture of the noodles) 3. pad thai (too sweet) At the end of the meal, the waiter thought we were dating. He asked us one bill or separate bills. My husband told him one bill. lol Overall, the place is spacious, quick and friendly service.
Most of the foods are garlic, looks terrible and tastes terrible
First time trying, enjoyed it. As someone with subcontinental heritage, I enjoyed the taste - a bit of spice but very different flavors than what Im used to. It did have hints of Thai, so that was nice. 10/10 Id go there again to try something new... Be prepared for a massive menu with tons of Malay dishes! If youre allergic to things or dont like seafood (me), theyll exclude it from the dish. Dietary restrictions: They ask you if youve got allergies, and can take things out from their dishes too.
Amazing food and great service. Would definitely go back. Contrary to previous reviews- I checked my receipt and the tip wasn t added. We were also able to pay by debit or credit. Food : 5/5
Decided to sample some Malaysian food after work in Richmond Hill area. Perhaps this is a new genre of food but certainly not Malay. The tom yam was 1/2 oil.The mee Goreng was at least a couple days old, the rendang was simple stew with no flavor. In my blacklist.
Phenomenal food! I ve been coming here for over 20 years! I haven t been post Covid so it was a sentimental visit back. The quality of the food does not change. It is as good as I remember and that is an amazing thing. Whereas some places you notice a difference in quality, this is not so at Restoran Malaysia. Their drinks are fruity and decadent and their entrees generous with an explosion of taste. The Sambal is my favourite but my dinnermates enjoyed the Pad Thai. The staff is incredibly awesome and so welcoming. Although the place was packed, volume was not an issue. I was in a group of 6 and we could hear each other great. My bill came to roughly $50 and that was with a drink (mango), app (shrimp chips and peanut sauce), entree (sambal chicken) and coconut rice. Can t wait to be back!
Top tasting Malaysian restaurant in Richmond Hill. Food was amazing!
Lovely Asian Food
Awesome food. I brought a Malaysian friend and hes impressed with the food quality and authenticity. Kid-friendliness: Our party had 3 kids and they enjoyed being there
Bad food, bad quality they dont care. Its worse than thai express. Very bad experience with this place, never returning. Wasted money, scammed me to maximize their profits!!!!
We came here to try their Singaporean Chicken (kind of like their Hainenese chicken) and beef Randang and also skewers. The chicken rice was good. Skewers were the highlight. The beef Randang to be honest wasnt great, the beef was tough and dry and I would say a little too much coconut shreds, maybe it just wasnt my cup of tea. Overall I would say the service and atmosphere was great, food wise I mostly only I liked the skewers. This came up to around $82 So kinda of a little pricey I would say compared to some.ither surrounding places. Regardless if you are in the area maybe try it out to see but I wouldnt go out of my way.
Very delicious and I will be back
Foods and service are good. They have special lunch menu and its only $12.99
Fantastic food ...very large selection. Even has ABC.
2nd time eating here, no complaints about service but only concern is food, they don t taste like before. For instance, we bought chicken and seafood fried rice but we couldn t eat them. Very nice service and clean place.
