Hi! Welcome to our newest Isaan der location in Richmond Hill. We are thrilled to launch our brand, Isaan Der in this beautiful location. We are a not so conventional Thai restaurant that offers impeccable service along with delicious menu offerings that are unique as well as our Signature offerings. This is the third location with two locations being in the Toronto area. Why our brand? We have launched our brand in March 2017 and continued to focus on delicious food, a place where customers can be informed about our premium ingredients along with exceptional taste. It is our people, who are devoted to our brand as well as the respect we give which makes this very possible for Isaan Der and we applaud them...Thank You!
I had such a great time here! The ambiance was amazing—loved the lighting and the decor, it really set the mood. The appetizer platter was delicious, and I was so impressed that they took the time to swap out a few items to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The tom yum soup was a nice surprise, with a refreshing citrusy kick that really stood out. And the pad Thai with shrimp? So tasty—definitely a highlight. Overall, everything was top-notch, and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this place!
Came here tonight on a Friday to catch up with the girls and we did not have reservations however they were able to see this right away. Even sitting at the door and it being cold down - It didn’t really affect the vibes. We had hot water with lemon and it was a great way to keep us warm. Our server was Mindy and she was amazing very attentive and a pleasure to speak to. Our eyes are definitely hungrier than our stomachs. We ordered quite a bit of food, but we were able to split it up in three to go home. Overall, food is very flavorful. Presentation was great. Came out promptly no complaints here. Thank you for a great experience and can’t wait to come back.
Two of us went for dinner with a reservation on a weekend. Service was pleasant and efficient. Food was tasty and presented well. Perhaps a touch on the sweet side. Portions are good. The one minor complaint is that the ladle for large soup was too large for the container. The soup container is one of those used for hot pots with a chimney in the middle. So ladling out the soup was more difficult than it should be. Parking in this mall is always tough during busy times.
We had an amazing dining experience here on a busy Sunday night! plus a 5-star service. The vibe in this restaurant is awesome, not forgetting the stunning moving lights above us. Food wise, it didn’t disappoint us for sure. Their papaya salad was top-notch, and their drinks are very good too! A very worth it dinner spot. We will visit again to try other dishes on the menu.
Love this place. Great vibe and good food. Interior was nicely done, food was also good. Thong pong grob was very crunchy and tasty! Love the flavors of the volcano ribs/ pad thai with shrimp and the pineapple rice! The mango sticky rice were not that sweet though. Overall a good meal
Overall experience was great! The service was fast and friendly, The appetizer sampler was really YUMMY! We also had the Shrimp Tom Yum soup, and hubby really enjoyed it, reminded him of our trip to Thailand Short ribs were also very well made! Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were yummy! Texture on the Pad See Ew was very soft and very well made would come again!
I’ve been there three times, and it’s hard not to love it. The flavors are amazing, and the menu offers a wide variety of choices. The recommended dishes are marked with big pictures, and choosing those is a guaranteed hit. I highly recommend them all. The lamb soup is wonderfully light and flavorful, the stir-fried rice noodles are smooth and full of taste, and the mango soft-shell crab salad is incredibly refreshing. The only downside is the limited parking at the plaza during peak dining hours—it takes several rounds to find a spot.
Food is very good here. The appetizers, Papaya salad, Calamari, were great. The pad Thai was sweet. The fish was great. Really liked the green curry rice but really spicy. Service was great and friendly and cautious with nut allergies. The atmosphere is lost because the noise is very high in volume. I would come back to try their lunch time. Might be a bit quieter.
Food was good, only three major issues. 1. The music is too loud. Especially when its right over my table. 2. The rice to curry ratio is horrible. I cant even finish half of the curry before earing all the rice. Honestly, either the curry is too salty(I thought it was fine, my dad thought his was salty and he couldnt finish half of his either)or there is just not enough rice. 3. Please get bigger straws, and bigger as in the diameter, not length. I get the drink has fruit pulp, but when you give me a straw that thin I cant drink anything because the pulp just blocks the straw. Or, if I wasnt supposed to drink the pulp, strain it out before serving.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing flavours. Loved the drinks and the food . The only thing is we ordered medium spice level the food still was spicy but that s def personal preference. The pineapple fried rice is def recommended!!!!
Great place for fancy Thai food! Like the presentation! Services are so sweet!
We stopped by Issan Der this past weekend and it was good overall. While the customer service was good overall, there was a mixup with our order. We originally ordered the shrimp pad thai and chicken panang curry with medium spice. However, we ended up with chicken pad thai and a very spicy chicken panang curry.
This place is more for vibes than food. Food wasn t really authentic. Volcano ribs were just normal pork bone soup. Nothing like what volcano ribs in Thailand are like. The only dish I enjoyed was the pad see ew and calamari. We also had pad Thai, green curry, garlic beef all under whelming. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice. The sticky rice was stale dry and hard. I love fried banana and I work one bite of the deep fried banana and left the rest. The batter is panko and so thick that there was zero taste of banana. I had someone else at the table do a blind test to see if they could taste what it was (they didn t know what I had ordered) and they were unable to guess it was banana. The worst deep fried banana dessert I have ever tried anywhere. Server spilled some volcano ribs fish sauce on the table and just left it like that. Didn t even give us extra tissue to wipe it. Drinks were fine. Would recommend for atmosphere and drinks but for food would not come back and would not recommend.
Amazing food and friendly staff. Thank you
Amazing Thai food restaurant. The food is delicious, the presentation is amazing, take a look at how pineapple chicken is served. The team is amazing, we were surprised how our waiter was able to remember the order for 4-5 people without talking notes and without any errors. Be careful with spicy leaves, even no spicy can be a little bit spicy. Fresh, tasty, amazing service - what else can you wish for a good place?
Authentic Thai cuisine at its best, busy cozy elegant place with great vibe, dining time allowed for only 1.5 hours, great tasting dishes with great presentations, succulent tasty soft lamb shank, Chicken Khao Soi with tender noodles and fragrant curry soup, fast efficient service with attentive staff.
It was only a matter of time when I could finally make a visit to Isaan Der in Richmond Hill! It was well worth the wait and drive! As advertised, you get both an amazing experience vibes with service and food! The interior of the restaurant is vibrant and welcoming where it makes you feel like youre in a Thai Bistro! The menu is condensed but it does show the restaurants comment to providing only the best quality for their landmark dishes. The Khao Soi with Beef is well worth the order! If you are a fan of spicy and sweet, this simple but powerful combination will leave a lasting impression. Lots of layers in every spoonful, you ought to consider a second serving! At Isaan Der, they do take reservations, so be sure to reserve early as spots fill up quickly for good reason!
Amazing food. Fast service. Good portions.
Superb food and great atmosphere. We enjoyed family dinner while they ran very nice music. Good collection. Food
Food is good. Service is good. Atmosphere is fine with loud music. Reservation is highly suggested. Food
Amazing warm and friendly service. We loved the food, bold and nice balance of Thai flavours. Weve been several times now and enjoy it every time!
Great place with great vibe. Cocktails drinks are great(but little less alcoholic). Food presentation is really great.... Highly recommended Thai restaurant...
I came here on a Sunday evening with a party of three people. it was my first time here and right off the bat. the atmosphere was really nice, the staff were really good and the vibe of the restaurant was pretty chill. I tried the Thai Iced Tea, the Thai Chicken Wings, the Pad Kee Mao, and the Chicken Pad Thai. I really appreciated the value for money that you got for each dish. Everything was reasonably priced and the portion sizes were more than generous. I will say, it wasnt my absolute favorite Thai restaurant Ive been to mainly because in a few of the dishes there wasnt as much flavor as Im used to. So Im unsure if I would come back just based on the food alone. Overall, if youre looking for a pretty good Thai restaurant with a cool vibe that feels like youre in a Bangkok nightclub lounge, this is the place to go
Just discovered this place, awesome food and great service. Waitresses were amazing
busy restaurant, staff seemed inexperienced, but they definitely tried their best. As to the food, simply delicious, generous portions at a fair price.
This restaurant exceeded our expectations, the pad Thai was probably the best we ve ever had so far. We had the short ribs, deep fried wings, spicy chicken pad Thai and the beef short rib massaman.
I went with 5 other people on a Monday early afternoon. The food was good. Only one dish seemed to have burned tofu, but otherwise everything was pretty good. We ordered beer and appetizers. With a huge wall sized TV, it would be a great place to watch a game but we found it very distracting for not being, or desiring a sports bar atmosphere. The biggest annoyance was that we hadn t finished our appetizer when all our food orders started to flow to the table. It was frustrating to have all the food order cooling down in front of us when we were still chatting, sipping a beer and having a couple of appetizers. My feedback to the establishment and or wait staff? I suggest to bring the order slowly and in stages unless otherwise requested. In addition, I would like to add another comment that you might find useful. I have been thinking about that beautiful wall of screen that you have. Now that we are coming into the winter season, it might be evening appropriate to have a video of a fireplace with a log on a crackling fire that plays continuously. During the daytime, there are videos from a train moving through snow covered alps. And of course when there is a specific sports game on you can show the games.
Very good thai food. Servers super friendly.
Excellent Thai food. Our server Mabel made our dining experience very enjoyable. Update: I revisited Isaan Der this week. Food and service is still excellent. However, I find the lighting and music inappropriate for dining. I think that management needs to decide if its a bar or a restaurant.
Amazing, authentic food and great service with an energetic vibe.
bit pricy and their mild is still spicy but the flav is good
Ordered delivery from Isaan Der for the first time, While it has a good potential, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The menu offers a good range of traditional dishes, and the flavors were somewhat authentic. However, some of the dishes lacked the bold flavors I was expecting from this style of cuisine. The spice levels seemed toned down, even with spicy thai , which may appeal to some, but I was hoping for a more vibrant kick. The Green curry was so good, while the Khao soi & fried rice were terrible!
Food is mid, ordered a few cocktail and drinks and are all not good.
tables are too close to each other, ruins the whole experience
my group and is experience at isaan der was nothing short of spectacular. i only just visited last weekend, and i am already incredibly eager to visit again. the folks there have mastered the art of atmosphere and culinary quality - producing delicious dishes in an attractive and photo-worthy space. the pad kee mao is STELLAR, the green curry is effortless and rich, the pineapple fried rice is a skillfully-executed classic. i would strongly urge you to order several dishes and share them within the group, as one choice could never suffice. i WILL be back to try their cocktail offerings.
Came here for weekend dinner. We were lucky not to have wait time. Atmosphere is nice with a big screen showing sports games and the neon lights giving that street festive vibe. Service was nice and quick. They come often to refill your water, which I appreciate. Food was awsome! Got Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai, Volcano Ribs, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Appetizer Platter. I highly recommend this appetizer platter. Everything on it was so good! Volcano Ribs is huge, they give you gloves to eat it, so it can get messy. Pineapple Fried Rice was my favourite. The combination of sweetness and the spices makes it very delicious!
Food is delicious but their hours seem bias. Arrived late at the hotel across the street on a Monday and ordered take out at 9:25pm and they allowed it, as they close at 9:45. Returned at 9:15 on Wednesday to order again and they refused service saying the kitchen had closed. However, several dishes were being brought out to tables from the kitchen ad the server told me this. Great food, but theres definately bias or inconsistency in hours provided to non-locals. Beware.
Vegetarian options: Pineapple rice is nice Food
What an amazing experience. I went with my family, 7 of us..... From 3 years old to 43 years old and there was a dish everyone enjoyed. We ordered alot of food and different food. It was all amazing! Spent 130 tipped out 20%. I will come back and bring more people! Love the ambiance and the place was spotless! Order the Calamri! Its a must try!
Vegan red curry is delicious! Probably the best Ive had. The green curry is also very good. Service is friendly and quick.
The food was average. It may have been better if the main dish was brought out with more time in between the app. Funny thing is we asked for the app to be served first yet the mains came out 2 minutes later and sat and got cold by the time we got to it
Food was delicious. However, due to how busy it was, we were told we had an hour and half for our meal.
Very good quality food, but if youre going for the environment, forget it! Very tight seats, you can hear your neighbor tables conversations in all details, and a super busy and noisy environment. Definitely not a place for a business meeting, a classy dinner, or a date. But great if you just wants to have a quality food and enjoy the taste. I would say prices are high for such an environment. I dont think I will visit again, since for me the experience is more important comparing to the food.
What a gem we found after a long hike. The food was authentic and the service was over the top I must say.
The restaurant looks very nice on the inside and the food is great. Had a birthday dinner here and the service was good. Would highly recommend! Parking: Busy plaza and certain spots are reserved for other restaurants. They will have you move if you arent dining there.
We just moved to Richmond Hill and are still getting to know the area. We were looking for a good Thai place and Isaac Der came up in our search and decided to check it out. We loved it! Warm and friendly service, lots of menu options, including lots of seafood and vegan, and the food was attractive and full of flavour. My husband ordered the beef soup, because he wanted something light and simple, but he was blown away by the flavourful and fragrant broth, with lots of beef and noodles. My daughter had the massaman tofu curry and I had the shrimp pad see ew. Large portions and all were so yummy. The vibe was upbeat and vibrant with music playing and lots of people. So happy to find a great new Thai place close to home. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. So great to see.
Great food and portion sizes !
Service is amazing and food is great. Mango sticky rice was so good along with the Pad Thai and Khao Soi. Adding the soft shell crab was a great option. Very authentic
The restaurant charged my group (6 people) 15.34% tax. I have no idea until splitting the bill to my friends. That s unacceptable and I am not happy to recommend friends here anymore. Updated: I wish to put 0 after receiving the response from the owner. The owner is confusing the concept between tax and tip while I am the customer. I was forced to pay more than the tax law in the province of Ontario. If people look at my bill and calculate, theyll see that I had to pay 15.34% in tax instead of the usual 13%. I feel insulted that they are deliberately trying to deceive me. Thank you to show me that my decision to not recommend your restaurant is always correct. No customers want to be charged the tax (not tip) and received the answer like that.
My friend highly recommended this place and he brought many of us to try it. It was not a disappointment at all. We all love the appetizer platter which came with a variety of foods and the shrimp snack was my favourite. The pork bone and tom yum soups were both very flavourful. The lamb shank was not gamey and usually I do not like lamb dishes at all. The mango sticky rice pudding was very tasty and not too sweet. The only disppointment was the pad thai noodles. It was a bit too salty and gluey. The waiter Glen was very friendly and helpful. I will bring my family to visit in the future! Parking: There is a parking lot but during peak hours, one might have to wait for others to leave before finding a spot.
All the food we ordered was very flavourful. The curry was aromatic, and the noodle broth was rich in flavour, and the rice was fragrant. The noodle texture was great and the Thai milk tea had a rich tea flavour. The menu was appealing and had many options, including vegan options! The service was wonderful and the food came relatively quickly. All in all a great meal!
Everything was amazing and the service was great. Staff were friendly and helpful .
Peanut allergies beware! The menu was mislabeled and many menu items that are labelled as safe actually contain peanuts! Great decor and atmosphere and the staff were kind enough. Food was good but the fact that more than half the menu items had peanuts and werent labelled, while other menu items were, was just incredibly unsafe. Dietary restrictions: Extremely dangerous for people with peanut allergies as the menu has labelled peanut-containing dishes as safe!
- went in as a group of four and ordered four dishes + a pitcher of sangria (the drink was more juice than wine, but refreshing for a hot day) - Pork jowl (pork neck): it was not very skinny or maybe its just how pork neck is, and the texture was more chewy - Chicken wings: it was kind of dry, and not very juicy. But still seasoned well. Tasted average - Beef Pad See Ew: the only dish that I felt was better, but it barely had any slices of beef in there (maybe 5-6 small slices at best) - Pad Kee Mao: the egg was runny, but the pork wasn t very crispy/crunchy - Oysters: ordered them last time i was there, and it was pretty small but not bad - sauces were good in general for all dishes Overall, food was okay, could be better, nothing spectacular. It s more about the vibes and aesthetic I would say. The interiors are quite nice! Service is good.
Highly recommended ! Been a long time I havent enjoyed thai food this much Food
ISAAN DER - Thai Kitchen & Bar, 9021 Leslie, Richmond Hill This was my first visit to this popular neighborhood destination. The positive and memorable outcome was full of nice and interesting surprises. From the loud electrifying vibe, the funky and psychedelic dynamic decor/lighting, the delectable food and not to forget, the friendly service by our two amazing looking trans-gender servers! We ordered the following dishes to share amongst our party of 5: - Ma Hor ( bite size pineapple topped with shrimp, chicken & peanut meatballs ) - Thai Chicken Wings - Isaan Style Papaya Salad - Duck Confit in Red Curry - Chicken Green Curry - Fresh noodle Pad Thai with Tofu - Pad Si Ew with Prawns - Mango and Coconut Sticky Rice Overall, the food was really well executed and presented. The exotic flavor profile, attractive, delightful and well balanced. Stand outs definitely go to the two stirred fry noodle dishes ..the Pad Si Ew in particular, so darn good!! Smoky, aromatic and nicely caramelized!....one of the best wok-hay dishes I have come across recently. Only small let-down was the slightly over-cooked chicken wings and the occasional loud noise level A definite return candidate!
I have been to Thailand 5 times already, both southern and northern region. So I think Ive got a good grasp of what Thailand Food tastes like. In my opinion, this restaurant is one of the most authentic Thai restaurants youll find in the York region. We ordered an appetizer platter, Pa see ew, volcano ribs and mango sticky rice. The food is very delicious, and the service is way better than your average Thai takeout place. The price is on the higher side but thats to be expected.
The food is really good. Service is good but the food coming out was a little slow. The wait staff are attentive though. Though I know they are going for the club feel, it might not be as comfortable of an atmosphere for some who prefer somewhere a little more tame as the music is loud. Definitely worth coming back for the food alone.
This place remained busy the whole entire time we were here, and several instances demonstrated that this restaurant did not know how to handle it. Despite making reservations, we had to wait for around 10 minutes past our reservation time. After we got seated, it took a significantly long time for our food to arrive. The excuse was that there were only four woks to serve the whole restaurant, however, if a restaurant gets large demand frequently, the restaurant should keep up. We also originally were restricted on our seating time due to high wait times, however, with restricted seating time, it is expected that our food should also come in a reasonable time. Our food did not come until 18 minutes before the end of our seating time, although we fortunately were not restricted to that time. Our water was rarely topped up throughout the meal. At the end, when we ordered desserts, not enough sharing plates could be provided initially for our moderately-sized table and the dishwasher was to blame. Again, if this restaurant is consistently busy, they need to be able to clean their dishes more efficiently. Finally, we were hugely disappointed when we found out there was an included gratuity of 18%. This is unreasonably high for the rather average service we received; 12-13% is a reasonable tip and definitely nothing over 15%. In summary, this restaurant, although busy, showed several signs that it is not ready to handle the large demand. I will not be returning again. Edit: I unfortunately have still not received an email response despite the restaurants reply of a request to contact them which I have done almost a year ago.
Food was delicious, portions were big, the fresh spring rolls were absolutely banging
Coming in, the place was bright and had lots of seating. The host greeted us warmly and let us know about the 1 hour and a half time limit as they get booked up pretty fast. I can see why they get so busy. We ordered the Tom Kha soup, Thai fried rice with soft shell crab, Beef Short Rib Massaman Curry, Chicken Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice and Coconut Sticky Rice. Tom Kha soup was very light and creamy with the sweetness from the coconut. Thai Fried Rice with Soft Shell Crab had a slightly smoky flavour, packed with umami. It has a rich buttery flavour coming from the crab as well that is not too overpowering. Beef Short Rib Massaman Curry was sweet from the sweet yam and coconut with a hint of spice and tanginess from the curry. The ribs were cooked perfectly with the meat being very tender. Chicken Pad Thai had a nuttiness flavour and a subtle sweetness. I was hoping a bit more basil to elevate the dish but overall, still quite happy with it. You can never go wrong with the desserts as well. They did get our Pad Thai order wrong but they quickly came back with the correct one. But I still recommend this place if you re looking to satisfy your Thai food cravings.
The Pad Ka Prao was delicious.
I had a great experience here. I went with friends on a Friday for a reunion. Parking was a bit difficult as I understood from my friends who tried to find it. But the food was worth it. I ordered the green curry and I enjoyed that. We also had a platter that was meant for 4, but our waiter was able to ammend it for my group of 5. I would come back again for the food, and I thought the atmosphere was great for someone to enjoy an experience with friends, family, alone or on a date.
We ordered dinner for take out last night that included 3 orders of coconut rice. We got 3 orders of plain rice with black sesame seeds sprinkled. Very very disappointed!
Venue was very nice, service was good but choose wisely when making food selection.
A middle-class restaurant with a high-end cost, would be my summary. Everything about this place screams trying to look higher class than it is from the food to the decor to the service. Now Im going to get very nitpicky but for 70$ a person I expect an experience commensurate with that price. A bit noisy, modern look but a bit aged and messy. For food, it was... Alright. Nothing really blew me away, especially for the price but nothing was bad. Standouts include the softshell crab which despite being a tad oversalted was quite good albeit in small proportion, and the mango salad which despite their warnings of sourness was quite balanced and less sour than most other Thai places Ive been to. Sauces were decent though without them the food was pretty bog standard, just heavily marked up. Also, piece of advice: if youre going to get your employees to introduce your appetizers, make sure to train them to elaborate on features and not just blurt out names in a rush, it ends up making the experience worse, not better. Other than that service was pretty good, servers were attentive and accommodating. All in all Id say our dining experience wasnt very compelling; it wasnt very value friendly and for what we did pay Ive had significantly more premium experiences for the same price elsewhere. P.S. consider switching out the bathroom sink, it looks modern, yes, but the bowl doesnt catch any water so the bathrooms all messy and it requires a fair amount of hunching over to reach.
A great place to eat
Amazing food, great vibe, nice seating, not too crowded inside. There was a long line up outside thou but luckily it was only about 20 mins wait for a table of 3. The variety of food offered on the menu was just right in my opinion. I will definitely return to try other food on the menu. Parking: All eateries in the plaza share the same parking lot. Not enough parking spots in the evening and cars overflow to nearby commercial parking lots.
Love the homemade coconut icecream!! duck confit and pineapple fried rice are good. taro rice is too sweet. Pad Thai is a bit soggy.
Decided to try this place with a few of my buddies because we all heard great things about the food. The ambiance felt like a classy club + 4 star hotel lobby vibes. The staff were all very attentive and full of positive attitude. Food was nothing special. We had the softshell crab mango salad (good palette cleanser), chicken pad thai (noodles were over cooked and mushy..flavour was okay), and shrimp pineapple fried rice (I recommend getting the spicy version). Would come again to try other dishes.
Server named Thai was excellent.
Just happened to be near this place and decided to give it a try based on good reviews. Even though it was a Wednesday night, the place was packed and wait time was 40 mins. Im so glad that we stayed! We ordered 6 different dishes + 5 appetizers and A L L the food was amazing! They brought pineapple fried rice to next level! And red curry - oh my, a party for your taste buds! Hands down best Thai place Ive ever been to and I am planning to come back. Service was also great! Thank you
This place is beautiful and really busy in the evenings but the staff tries the best to keep up. Tried most of their food and its amazing especially their vegetarian fried rice. It took long for our food to come but once we received it it was amazing. Great staff and ambience inside. Will recommend. Try to make a reservation if you can before going. Vegetarian options: They have a lot of vegetarian options and you can ask them to not add egg in those dishes.
Excellent! Authentic! Drunken noodle was was tasty & delicious spice just right & soup was great! Service - excellent Atmosphere - great for a causal restaurant Large Screen for Sports! Vegetarian options: Add Tofu instead of meat/chicken to most dishes ! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp Access -Washrooms on the 1st/Main Floor
Everything were very good except the shrimps in the pineapple fried rice tasted very blend. Services was very good.
One of the most lowkey hidden gem for Thai food that I ever try! Wondering why more people havent know about them yet The food is top-notch quality, big portion ( can share 2-3 peoples ) and reasonable price. Really authentic Thai food The vibes here is really chill, suitable for a date night out or friend gathering. Server is really friendly Will definitely come back to try more food on menu!
New favourite Thai place. All the dishes were delicious and great service!
Really good thai food and service. We tried the appetizer platter and several main dishes. Usually very busy in peak hours.
This is my second visit to this restaurant, and I must say that the quality of the food remains consistently good. The portions are generous, and the appetizer platter is an excellent choice for sharing with friends or family. I highly recommend trying the sampler appetizer, which offers a variety of items to sample. The mango sticky rice pudding continues to be my favourite dessert here. However, I did notice that the background music has become louder than before, which makes it somewhat challenging to have decent conversations.
One of our dishes was served extremely cold and way later than the other dishes. We couldnt get the servers attention so I had to walk up to the kitchen door and let them know we waited so long for cold khao soi. Staff did nothing to compensate us but come to the table to say are you sure you dont want the food reheated when the other dishes were already more than half done and the person who was waiting for their food had lost their appetite after waiting for so long only to get a bite of cold chicken and soup. Other dishes were well prepared and tasty but this experience had left us with a bad taste and we will not be coming back.
Amazing and Tasty Thai food Great service Would definitely recommend! Food : 5/5
Isaan Der Thai in Richmond Hill is a true gem for Thai cuisine lovers. The deep-fried fish fillet with mango salad is an absolute standout, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Their Pad Kra Pao with a fried egg is uniquely delicious, unlike anything else. The red curry with chicken is rich and flavorful, a must-try for curry fans. They also have an excellent vegan menu, ensuring everyone can enjoy an authentic Thai dining experience. Highly recommended!
Always fairly busy any time I ve gone, but even still they have very reasonable wait times to get your food, and always yummy meals. Accommodating for allergies like gluten free and vegan.
I ordered the khoa soi with soft crab . It was delicious. I also got the white sangria which was also very good
This is an authentic Thai restaurant. The Massaman beef short rib is delicious, and the pineapple fried rice is also good. The papaya salad and Tom Yum soup are average, while the fried shrimp cakes and stir-fried morning glory are just passable. The ambiance is great, the service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. Recommended.
Great spot - definitely a cool looking restaurant once inside. Service and food were top notch! Drinks and appetizers arrived on time and main dishes are plentiful - could definitely share if you want to try more dishes.
This restaurants atmosphere is without a question a social-type one on a weekend evening its quite loud what with the reverberating fast-paced trendy pop music they play, combined with the lively chatter throughout the restaurant. The coloured lights are funky and are creatively arranged, and theyve also got a massive TV in full view behind the bar playing a sports game. Final element : the high ceiling gives breadth to the space, which is nice and they take advantage of this with the way theyve installed the decor. Its fun but be mindful of the setting as it is not so intimate. The menu is also pretty big and everything we saw on other diners tables appeared both intriguing and appetizing. With regards to the service, it is exceptional : the restaurant was packed and very loud that night but this didnt compromise the patience, attentiveness, and wonderful energy of the servers. The food: I enjoyed it a lot however my mom (who actually cooks) found it to be okay. She remarked that the chicken skewers, which were advertised as grilled, had the grill marks but not the characteristic taste. The chicken was however juicy and very flavourful. The peanut sauce complemented it nicely too. The fresh noodle pad thai was our least favourite dish (though still good) only because it was very mushy. The complexity and strength of the flavour was not among the best weve had compared to other pad thai dishes in the area, so we wouldnt re-order this here. Finally, the lamb shank curry was, in *my* opinion, AMAZING. It is a masaman curry on the sweeter side, and it was quite tangy. The whole lamb shank was aesthetically appealing and perfectly prepared. My mom found the curry too sweet and that it deviates too far from what she finds the dish should taste like, and so would not order it again. All in all, Isaan Der prepares food with what seems to be very fresh ingredients and their dishes containing meat are both appealing and satisfying. Though it is ultimately not our favorite Thai restaurant in Markham, its impressive and fun. How fulfilling the experience of the food is will depend on what one may be accustomed to when it comes to this style of food and the way they like it prepared.
Music is too loud for any conversation. Food is pretty decent but generally more on the oily side.
A great shop. Fast and friendly service, the staff knows their way around the dishes and the entire store makes a great impression. Parking: Parking spaces are available directly in front of the store.
Tried the pad gra pao (chicken). While it had good flavour (good but not great), I found the meat to be very try but I suppose this is suppose to be somewhat expected with ground chicken. Takeout ordering and pick-up was friendly and efficient during a busy weekday lunch hour. Parking can be limited in this busy plaza as there are many restaurants here. This is my first visit and its worth trying again.
Amazing Thai food must try everything Mindi was good server
food was great but a little along the sweet side. We had a lamb shank curry and it was slightly too sweet for my liking. Dietary restrictions: thai food
With so many options for Thai food around the area, it was difficult to decide which place to try and this resto did not disappoint. We ordered the chicken satay, massaman short rib curry, khao soi, chicken pineapple fried rice and the mango sticky rice. I highly recommend the short ribs as it was so tender and the massaman curry had a nice sweet, peanutbuttery and aromatic taste. The short rib was also HUGE. The khao soi was on the spicier side but tasted great! The pineapple fried rice had a hint of sweetness which made the dish so addicting! Wouldn t however order the chicken satay again as it was pretty average. The prices are also reasonable. For 4 people, those 3 main dishes were more than enough. The restaurant was also very clean and well decorated with a nice ambiance. Will be coming back again!
Weve gone twice - my partner loves Thai food. My first experience was good, but my second was great. I personally prefer their noodle dishes here over the curry dishes. We still have yet to get through the entire menu (desserts, mains, and grilled items), but we look forward to it. I know that we can expect good service regardless of how busy the place gets!
My go to for Thai food, delicious food and really good service even when super busy!
This place was suggested by a friend to try. My friends and I met for dinner and were very impressed. Service was fantastic. the food was amazing. Suggest you make reservations, its very busy!!! Will definitely go back. If you like Tai food, this is the place to go!
Food all sweet
Amazing food. Massaman curry was delicious, one of the best I ever had. Chicken and vegetable stir fry was very good too. Cooked just right. If you are in this neighborhood you should check it out, specifically if you enjoy Thai cuisine.
Food was very good. I recommend the short rib curry 1000%
Ill be coming back! I went to eat with my family for a birthday celebration and stumbled upon this place through google and social media. A lot of hype places could be a hit or miss, in this case this place was a 10/10. The place was a full house yet our server was on top of his game. He always checked up on us, kept our table clean, gave our food within minutes. The atmosphere was young and modern. The colourful moving lights was the main attraction. Every hour or so the lights would move based on the beat of the music. A Big tv mounted near the bar playing big sport games. The food was fantastic, presentation was beautiful. TIP: try to reserve a table in advance. If not youll be waiting a long time for a opening. The advantage of booking; getting a booth.
Got the beef short rib curry. It was a bit too salty for me. Good portion though. Service was excellent.
We went here for a birthday dinner and they handled a 14 people party with ease. The food came right away and it tasted amazing. They also offer massive portions so make sure to ask dish size before ordering. Would highly recommend.
The food was acceptable, but I found the menu disappointing considering the restaurants appealing ambiance. Ihe menu looks like 100 years old junk paper that didnt match the overall aesthetic. Additionally, our table for four was unstable, lacking proper support which caused our drinks to spill multiple times. Despite calling the server several times to rectify the issue, they repeatedly promised to fix it but never did before we left. The server swiftly placed our plates on the table without explanation, leaving us unsure which dish belonged to whom as first-time customers.
We have been to Isaan Der in the past and food was never disappointing. However, this time around there were misses that made the food okay and not great! Appetizers: We had the appetizer for 2 platter and everything on this platter was delicious. Would definitely recommend ordering the appetizer platter. Mains: We had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the pad thai with shrimp. The pineapple in the pineapple fried rice was so juicy and sweet but the fried rice and chicken were dry making it disappointing overall. The pad thai with shrimp was disappointing. It was over powered by too much fish sauce, like someone accidentally knocked over the fish sauce bottle to the dish and added in more noodles to dilute the fish sauce. The servers were kind enough to replace it. Instead we tried the pad si ew (stir fried flat noodles) with shrimp which was delicious. Drinks: You can t go wrong with their Ice Thai Coffee :). The Iced Thai Lime Tea was a meh it was not my cup of tea. Overall, service was amazing and atmosphere was good. Heads up, it was super chilly inside the restaurant, would recommend to bring a sweater or scarf to stay warm. Food was okay this time around. I expected much more.
Been coming here recently and a few visits in, I ve never left disappointed. The staff are amazing and the food is always tasty and great value as well for the portions. The atmosphere is nice as well with tasteful decor and occasionally good music.
The outside of the restaurant looked normal, but the inside had a nice decoration. I ordered the famous Thai dish Pad Thai, but it was too soggy, not crispy enough. A bit disappointed. The tables were very crowded, and we could hear the conversations from the tables next to us, so it was hard for us to chat comfortably. After we finished my meal, the server asked if we wanted dessert. We said no, and she quickly brought the payment machine over . This was at least an hour before closing time, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable
I recently visited a Thai restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes, which were much larger than they appeared in the pictures. My friend and I shared a single dish, and we even had enough leftovers to take the soup home. The quality of the food was outstanding, with rich flavors and fresh ingredients that truly embodied the essence of Thai cuisine. We were both thoroughly satisfied with our meal and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and fulfilling dining experience.
We had such a great time at this restaurant! The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. We were a big group but our servers were all so attentive and friendly. We also shared a lot of dishes, so I was able to have a taste most of the menu from the appetizers, noodles, rice dishes to curries. To start, we ordered the platter for the table with calamari, golden bag, Thong Pong Grob, Ma Hor and shrimp cake. - all excellent. We also shared mango salad with soft shell crab, and papaya salad. I had chicken pad see ew at spicy level. The spice level to me was mild and I will definitely choose thai spicy next time. The char from the wok was so good. The shrimp pad thai was also a win, the shrimps were plump and juicy. The massaman curry was flavourful but the panang was not as complex. The basa fish fillet was fried well, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The side sauces are sooo good that they add another layer to the dish. I will definitely be back!!!
Wonderful experience. Tasty food. Good drinks. Clean. Good music. Great service.
Today, this was the first time at this restaurant. At the beginning, the hostess inform that there will be a 1.5 hr dinner time, especially on a Tuesday night . But this lovely waiter also inform about the dinner time 1.5 hr & have a nerve to say there will be another party at 7:30pm. The service was extremely weird because this waiter keeps rushing. The experience was not good at all. The only best part is food & with best company my friends . I understand that there is 1.5 hr dinner time, but no need to be so harsh & blunt!
Great food; I d give it five stars if I could, but I expected a bit more complexity in the flavours of the dishes. My family member thought the pad kee mao was a bit bland. Cant wait to come back and try their volcano rib
I ordered soft shell crab with pad thai, an appetizer for 2, pork neck grilled, and stir fry veggie, but neither of them tasted good. I would not go back for sure .
This is my second time at Isaan Der Richmond Hill location. First time was for dinner on a Thursday night and this time is for lunch on a Wednesday. Both days were packed. I highly recommend you make reservations. The staff was very friendly and helped us with recommendations. We ordered the Pandan Leaf Chicken, Red Curry Duck Confit came with rice (red curry), Panang Fish Curry came with rice (curry made with long yard beans, bell peppers, kaffir lime leaf and basil in a creamy coconut sauce), tofu Khao Soi (golden curry with egg noodles). You can choose 4 different levels of spicy from mild to Thai spicy. We chose mild for the 3 curry dishes and it was good enough for us. Each curry had a distinct flavour and just enough heat to be very enjoyable. The Pandan leaf chicken was juicy and marinated just right. I really enjoyed my experience here and will definately come back to try the other dishes.
When we walked into this restaurant my eyes noticed the amazing and bright decorations. There was a colourful wall, moving light rods on the ceiling and cutlery that wonderfully matched the style of the restaurant. As I was admiring the amazing decor, the food came. First was the morning glory. The morning glory was choy that had a delicious salty flavour. The pad si ew came next. Which was also really good but very greasy! Finally, we ate the pineapple fried rice. It was basically really good fried rice with pineapple and some spice. Finally, the servers were very kind. Whenever a dish came, our server let us know by kindly saying excuse me. The owner of the restaurant chose the perfect servers. If youre thinking about going here, stop thinking and just come! This restaurant will definitely see me again!
The food was really good. Servers are nice, helpful and friendly. The vine was also nice. Vegetarian options: I had a veggie pad Thai and it was great!
It was not as it was expected, 8 came here for the reviews, but I didnt find the quality of the food to be as I was expecting Food
Very good Thai Restaurant in Richmond Hill.
drunk noodle is good
Lovely Thai restaurant, great servers, amazing food, fun environment. Reservations highly recommended. Sangria was delicious. Soup in volcano ribs so warning. Platter good for snacking. Curry was good. Pad Thai on the wet side but still good. Highly recommended.
great service, and good food, certain items are overpriced. it s a busy restaurant with a young vibe/decor, so i recommend making a reservation in advance if you don t want to wait. service is great and food came out fast, the most memorable dish was the red curry duck confit. all items were great, except for the pad thai that was a little dry. items ordered: Fresh Oyster (12 pcs) Shrimp Chips with Peanut Sauce Red Curry Duck Confit Pad Si Ew Pad Thai
This place was very busy, had to wait despite having a reservation. The food was delicious.
Tried their Massaman curry out of curiosity and turned out great. Saturday afternoon hence the place is quite crowded & noisy. And their music in the background is loud. I find myself yelling a bit to talk. Hence not a cozy place to chat. Love the curry! Came here tonight for the second time today but have to leave after wandering around the parking lot in vain for 15 min. Disappointed
If youre in search of a spot with good food, great cocktails, and a chill vibe, look no further. This pub delivers on all fronts. The menu boasts a variety of delicious options, with each dish expertly prepared and flavorful. The cocktails are a highlight, perfectly crafted and sure to please any palate. Whether youre there for a meal or just drinks, youre sure to leave satisfied.
I was visiting a friend at the Holiday Inn right across the street and we wanted to grab dinner but had no clue where to go until I saw a Thai option super close. Really happy we stumbled upon Issan Der - what a vibe! It was packed on a Monday night, friendly staff, fantastic food. I had the fresh veggie spring rolls and the chicken khao soi. Even the music in the background was great. It had a modern lounge like decor. I didn t expect this to be a Thai resto- was more like a lounge for pre-drinks. Would def return!
I was so excited to try this place. And I was quite disappointed. How do you make such a bad pad thai. It was soggy. The noodles was overcooked. Pad thai is such an iconic dish. Its a 2.5/5 We ordered the appetizer plate for 2 Clam Morning glory Papaya salad And pad thai with soft shell crab. I wont be back. Dont ever order the pad thai The restaurant felt they did nothing wrong and offered a 10% discount. Ive had better pad thai at Thai Express.. Save your money, dont come to an establishment that doesnt back their products.
Great food and service. Though very busy, I was impressed with how fast the food came out. Definitely one of the best Thai food Ive had in a long time.
Both the food and service were good. The food portions are big so would recommend doing family style if youre not big eaters. Had the appetizer platter which was a great way to have a bit of everything. For mains, we had the Lamb Shank Massaman Curry, Khao Soi, Panang and the Mango Coconut Sticky Rice for dessert. Only feedback would be the music as it was a little too loud to have have a proper conversation
One of my favourite Thai spots! Such flavourful dishes! My recommendation would be the Khao Soi!! It tastes sooooo good!! I got the beef one and the beef was so tendor plus they gave a really good portion size of the meat. The best Khao Soi I have ever had! I ve also tried the cashew chicken and it was pretty good! I have yet to try the other dishes such as pad see ew and the pineapple fried rice but my friends have tried it and they were impressed.
This is my second time at this location. Staff friendly on both occasions. My friends enjoyed most of the menu items aside from the soft crab mango salad. I found it okay but it seems to be a challenging dish for the general public to enjoy. Highly recommend the Thai shrimp cakes and looking forward to trying their other dishes in the future!
First visit to this restaurant and I was very impressed. We were three people and we ordered calamari and shrimp cake to start followed by cashew chicken, green curry and pineapple fried rice to share. The food was tasty, at the right temperature, well presented and portion size adequate. Our server was lovely. The atmosphere nice albeit a bit noisy. The reason we went there was their large tv screen where my friend wanted to watch the Euro soccer game. When asked they immediately switched from tennis to the game. My only feedback would be to slice the calamari thinner while keeping the portion size. We enjoyed our visit. Wheelchair accessibility: It is accessible
Big TV, great pad Thai, lamb curry was pretty good value (can feed 2 people), if you like spicy food, the Thai spicy is actually not that spicy.
Much better than your average Thai place with a good selection of dishes and some novel extras. not quite on par with khao san road or pai but worth returning to.
They have the appetizer platter for 2 now. Everything taste wonderful. We love the vegetable, morning glory. Short ribs, so tender. Soft crab pad thai is tasty. The coconut ice cream is outstanding. Will definitely come back.
The ambience is pretty hip and vibrant for a dinner date. We called for pad kee Mao which was too good. Panang curry had a rich flavour and not spicy at all. Totally recommend it. Khoi soi was different that usual but really good too. Although khoi soi and panang curry had a very similar curry taste. The potion size is great. We ordered 3 mains between 4 of us which was too much. We didnt really like the thai ice tea. Its milk based and has a strong tea taste. They dont take reservations for less than 5 people and there is always waiting so make sure you call the restaurant if less than 5 and put your name on waitlist prior to arriving on weekdays. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely come again. Visited yet again for a birthday and they showed a very sweet gesture with a complimentary dessert. Our server Thai was particularly very sweet. We ordered the chicken in pandang leaf and its just spectacular. Perfect flavors and melts in mouth. Pineapple shrimp red curry is one to be recommended for sure.
Very cozy place to dine in , food is pretty nice , busy peak time at the night , suggest to go there during tea time !
We liked the food. They have vegetarian options in the menu however the server said not possible to make vegetarian. I feel that the server we got didnt know much. Food was very fresh and flavourful
Delicious food, nice waitress, quite elegant environment. Worth to visit again.
My experience at Isaan Der was absolutely amazing I cant recommend it enough! The food and drinks were a solid 10/10; youve got to try the fresh Mango juice, the Pad Kee Mao, and any of their flavourful curries they were all incredibly delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful, but what truly made the evening special was the exceptional service. The staff was super friendly, and we were lucky enough to be served by Mabel, who went above and beyond! This restaurant definitely deserves a spot on your must-try list!
Enjoyed having tasty Thai food with family at Isaan Der in Richmond Hill, Toronto. Authentic Thai food with fresh ingredients and spices and decent prices. Loved the Massaman Beef Short Ribs and Stir Fried Basil Seafood. Everything was so flavorful. Good portion sizes. The environment and atmosphere in the restaurant was comfortable, spacious and fancy. The server, Mindy was very friendly and served us well. Food recommended by her was good and considerable. Reservation is definitely needed. A highly recommendable restaurant.
Thai cuisine is one of my favourite types of food. I ve been to a lot of different Thai restaurants. This one is very good but I find some of the dishes too sweet and saucy . Especially the pad Thai. Overall I would recommend this place.
Everything was amazing!!! The food was delicious. Congratulations!!
Isaan der is one of my favourite restaurants right now. It s really beautiful and the vibes are super fun. The food was really delicious and had beautiful presentation. The drinks were so refreshing, I would say to definitely try their fresh mango smoothie and I want to come back to try their cocktails next time! We ordered the mango sticky rice, shrimp cakes, khao soi and the pad si ew. I would highly recommend getting the pad si ew. Our server made great recommendations and was very attentive. Despite it being busy on a Sunday night, all the staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall great experience and would definitely come again. I live out of town but I even recommended this place to all my coworkers so hopefully i can come back soon!
Second time here and while the service is nice I don t understand the high ratings. Wanted to give this place a second chance since everyone raves about it. Everything was bland tonight had the pad Thai which was mushy, the shrimp cakes could have used more salt and the dipping sauce lacked heat and even sugar, the morning glory was just the taste of garlic and oyster sauce.
We visited Isaan Der on a Friday for dinner without a reservation and were seated at the high table. The restaurant opted for a mixed interior design style where we felt like we were in a pub/sports bar rather than a traditional Thai restaurant. A giant tv playing the sports channel is located on the wall behind the bar area. We were greeted and served promptly. We initially planned to order a couple of dishes first and then order more after so not all food will arrive at the same time. We had the mixed appetizer platter for two which was a bit too dry so thankfully it comes with the dipping sauce. The Pad Kee Mao came a couple of minutes after the appetizer. It was absolutely tasteless. I didnt know Thai noodles could be so bland. It seemed like they totally forgot the seasoning. We were so thrown off by the Pad Kee Mao, weve decided to get the bill and go to another restaurant to complete our dinner.
Loved it! Food was delicious, fresh and tasty. The service was outstanding. Very busy location. The music didnt really match the atmosphere and was a bit dated (Britany, boy bands, Mariah etc).
Very delicious and authentic feeling food and atmosphere! I recommend going with a group and ordering items to share so you can try a bit of everything, because you need to! I give them 9/10!
Food was amazing, best Pad Thai I ve had in ages! The green curry was a little disappointing. The clams were super flavourful. We had an amazing waitress, and the atmosphere was tropical, modern, and hip. Must try!
I ordered take out for 2 items, and it took one hours to get it ready.
Second time being there, tried some new dishes and still very impressed.
The Markham location definitely very different than the two Toronto locations. This place has a more lounge and hip vibe. Food and service is very good like other locations. Would come back again.
Lovely Thai place in Richmond Hill, so glad we now have good option without having to travel downtown. We loved everything we ordered.. the app platter was amazing. The beef rib curry was so tender and melted in my mouth. Drunken noodle was another highlight! On top of all, excellent service from Thai! Super friendly and attentive. We had a great night. Parking: Small parking lot
Vegetarian options: Its vegan friendly! Food
Food is fantastic but unfortunately they don t adhere to hours. Closing time at 10 pm but kitchen closes with last call 9ish depending on what they feel like lol
Amazing tradition Thai food! Very tasty with great service. Highly recommended!
It s a very nice local Thai restaurant. I enjoy every bit of it. My recommendation is the pineapple fry rice. I also enjoy the pad Thai here but it s a little bit sweet for me.
Excellent food and service! One of the best Thai restaurants I ve been to. Highly recommend the drunken noodles (with fresh rice noodles!) and Penang curry. Good portion sizes, good for family style/shareable. Only thing was that we went for Saturday dinner, so it was quite packed and the tables were tight.
Appreciate the meticulous craftsmanship and the attentive service. The appetizer palette is impressive in the way that the mango salad is refreshing and that the shrimp cake is filled with substantial delicious contents. This makes the appetizer palette tantamount to a main dish. The green curry is mild. It strikes a good balance between spice, saltiness and the coconut milk flavour. The fish meat is fresh and soft. The green curry sauce is so plentiful that you will be tempted to pack the sauce for cooking another round of meal. The place is clean. The sunroom and the decoration are nice. The attendants are also very friendly and diligent. After all, a nice place worthy for a visit.
Delicious Thai food fusion dishes.
As requested by the restaurant. My review: We ordered the shared platter for two, and everything on the plate was okay. We really liked the presentation, but the taste of the food did not wow us. The Mango salad was tasty but that was more so because the mango was nice and sweet. Our favourite thing on the sharing plate - the shrimp cakes. We also ordered pad Thai, this is a dish we generally get the first time we try out a new Thai place, it sets the bar for what is to come, unfortunately it disappointed. It was bland and the noodles were mushy. We suggest removing it if you don t specialize in making it. The mango sticky rice was good in taste but a couple of things could have made it better, serve the sticky rice warm and I didn t like the weird yellow rice shaped things on top of the sticky rice, I scraped it off. The Thai ice tea was bitter like the tea was burnt. Maybe the other dishes/drinks are good, we didn t try everything, but the place was very busy and loud, so it might be worth trying one more time.
Great food and great service. Highly recommend their green curry and fry rice. The waiting time was around 30min. It would be hard to find parking sometimes so the best way is to come early or late, avoid busy dinner time.
Very nice atmosphere, good service and good. Will come again
Food is delicious, staffs are super nice and helpful. I love the short rib curry, the meat was tender and juicy, perfectly cooked. The appetizer platter is something must order, especially for the first timer. Will definitely go back again and try different courses.
Food was delicious, portions were great, and service was wonderful. We would definitely be coming back again soon!
Very busy, recommend making a reservation during peak dinner times. Great tasting food and great interior atmosphere. Feels like youre in a night market.
Just as tasty as the one Downtown but a lot more spacious :) attentive staff and great atmosphere
Happy to have another Thai restaurant in the Richmond Hill/Markham area and a good one at that. The lamb leg shank was tender and the sauce was so flavourful, first bite and we were quite happy. This was our favourite dish. 10/10 We also ordered the appetizer plate for 2. Beautifully presented, very Thai. One of each except for the calamares which was 4 pcs. More than enough for 2. Happy we ordered it. 10/10 The pad Thai, unfortunately was so so. We ordered the soft shell crab, the crab itself was good but the noodles weren t excellent. I d rate it 7/10. I ve tasted more than a hundred pad thais in my life from different places so I can say it with certainty. Noodles were too sticky, it lacked the usual pad Thai flavour punch. Not bad, not fantastic, just OK, but next time, I will order the pad Kee Mao or Pad see ew. Those looked good. We ordered the 2 desserts: sticky rice with mango - it had the purple rice and white rice, crispy soy (?). Not bad, not out of this world but good enough. 8/10. Presentation was 10/10 though.i will probably get something else when I return. We also had the deep fried banana with coconut ice cream. That was quite good. I don t usually like super oily stuff but this was pretty good. 10/10 Beautifully interior designed place. Looks like the Thai restaurants around town are levelling up and this one is no exception. It s always a pleasure eating in a place that cares about the ambience and atmosphere. It s themed, tropical, modern, casual and fun, all in one. The chairs are also very tropical yet elegant. Service was top notch. 15/10 if I could do this. There was a mistake in serving the pad Thai but it was quickly rectified. Our server was professional, friendly and absolutely the best. Actually, all of them were great. The one heading the training of the servers in Isaan Der should train servers in other restaurants! Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options in most of the dishes. Even desserts!
The best Thai restaurant that Ive ever been to. The food is delicious and presented well. Our waiter was super friendly and checked in on us regularly. The place has a modern decor, and the lights in the middle can even become a show. Just make sure you come early or make reservations because it fills up quick.
The ambiance is lovely, suitable for dates. The queue gets pretty long though, so do make your reservations so you wouldnt be disappointed. Food-wise, try the lamp Shanks!
4.5/5 Food was absolutely delicious. We had the Pad Kee Mao, Isaan Papaya Salad, Fish Panang Curry & Calamari (not pictured). Everything tasted fresh, service was attentive and warm. Definitely would recommend & would love to come back if ever we re back in the Markham area.
Food not bad
Saw reviews were high, so gave the place a try. Ordered take out over the phone. The person taking the order didn t bother to get to the machine or grab a pen to write down the order, asked me 3 times what the first order was, the first 2 times sounded like he was going to punch it in or write it down, obviously didn t do so since he asked a third time what I was ordering. I only ordered 2 items: fried fish fillet and pad thai. Then whomever packed the food didn t double check the orders, and did not provide the jasmine rice that was supposed to come with the fish. Not about to call the restaurant and drive back an hour to pick it up. The one time I didn t open the bag and verify. Why can t places just get the order right the first time?
4.5/5 Service was excellent! Restaurant is modern and trendy. It got busy for lunch really quickly, but they were able to seat us early. We ordered a lot - thong pong grob, khao soi, pad thai, pad kra pao and pla tod (both not pictured), mango sticky rice, and iced/hot thai milk tea. We enjoyed the thong pong grob, pad kra pao, and pla tod (a HUGE whole fish by the way). The khao soi, pad thai, and sticky rice were ok. Portions were generous and presentation was nice.
We had family dinner here really early, 4:30 PM. As soon as we walked in we were told we had 90 mins to eat, which was surprising as the place was empty. Service was really good, everything we ordered was delicious. We got the tom yum, Tom kha, the pad see ew, the chefs seafood special, the panang curry and coconut rice. We had the Thai iced tea cocktail too, and really enjoyed it. The vibe was great and so was our server. Would definitely come back here for some stellar thai food.
