Godfrey's in Richmond

Ladies, killed it. I love drag, been to many shows in multiple states. I have a major issue with the system that the manager stood behind because its worked for 26 years. Love, 26 years doesnt mean its perfect. We had an issue with our bill that HAD to be solved mid-show because I was charged for bad food and drinks that never showed. Basic disputes, to which I asked to be handled AFTER the show. No compromise, no tip, love the ladies but none to the server and management. Crab was terrible, fyi, avoid that.

It s December 2024, and for employment consideration the management at Godfrey s requires proof of Covid vaccination.

Great entertainment! The food was a bit pricey.

The guard is extremely rude, before we could even say anything he was treating us like garbage and screaming at us. One of the people in my group was already inside the bar when the guard was screaming to me and my friend outside and when he came out to see what was going on, the guard yelled at him telling him to stay in trying to separate us. We all left of course, its really not worth losing your time in this place to be treated like you are so not welcome. Very bad and sketchy vibe

Went for the 2pm brunch on my birthday and it was.... SO MUCH FUN. My friends and I had the best time! 10/10 recommend this experience!!! Parking: Theres a parking garage maybe a block away and it was very affordable!

Drag brunch!!!!! Reservation required online for weekend brunch in advance. All dishes cost the same $$ and include coffee. The kitchen staff of 3 work hard to get your meals out fast but expect to wait a good 30-40 minutes for food. However you have an array of talented queens and kings to entertain you as you wait. A Richmond must!

Went to their Sunday drag brunch...the staff were fantastic, very personable and efficient...the atmosphere was amazing, everyone was having a great time, very positive energy... the food was good, not amazing, but good...

The staff at the front giving wristbands clearly hate their life or their job. They could definitely work on their basic communication skills. Verbal and non verbal. Senile security guard at the outside VIP area clearly confused me for someone else and was outrageously rude! Post a sign that it is the VIP area if you don t want curious people entering. The entertainment and bartenders were GREAT, but the support staff could benefit from some serious refinement in their very basic life skills.

Attended 11am drag brunch this past Sunday with my party of 7. We were seated and the waiter came to take our drink and brunch orders. I appreciated the MC mentioning how the food takes a minute because it took well over a minute. Food got 2 stars because of how long it took (many other tables got theirs first and were finished eating by the time we got ours; we got ours well about 70% of the way through the show) and because it was average tasting- it was not worth $33 (wouldn t have paid that had I known the prices earlier too; they were not on the menu to my knowledge, but I could ve not looked in the right spot). Would rather them have done a buffet style service in the other room that attendees can go to with one flat rate (I attended a drag brunch that did that and enjoyed it much more since I wasn t hangry). Service got 2 stars because our waiter was negligent and did not come to check on us after he initially took our orders, not even once. He came back at the end of the show (a solid hour later) to clear our plates and distribute checks. The other tables waiter was on top of it and regularly checked in with them. We couldn t even check in on our food because our waiter was nowhere to be found. Then I got the tab which includes automatic gratuity for large parties: that waiter got $13! Without that rule, I would have tipped him hardly anything because of the poor service. I had a few bucks leftover from the show that I gave to the busboy because he was more on top of it to ensure all tables were cleared, and gave us more attention than our server. Atmosphere got a 5 because the queens were great. They catered to an old school crowd with song choices that pleased all ages there. I did wish for a couple more current songs and the show ran a bit long, but it was still enjoyable because of how talented they were. I knew not to expect a whole lot from a club offering a brunch experience but the service lacking made it so I wouldn t likely attend again.

Godfrey s is an amazing bakery. Their mocha cafe is delicious as are their pastries. Stop by for lunch for great salads, etc. The back bar is a lovely place to share drinks and small plates or pizzas. Come by. You won t be disappointed.

Fantastic show, friendly staff, good food. Have a snack before you go as it takes awhile to get food. The kitchen is small, so just plan to be patient. You certainly wont get bored while you wait! Food : 5/5

We were there for brunch and a show. We ordered when we sat down. About 2 hours later, we got our food and it was delicious. The show was ok. Only one performer stood out, actually performing. The rest seemed to walk around, lip-syncing, collecting money. I ordered 6 shots for our table but was charged for 10. When I brought it to the servers attention, he said he thought I told him I wanted to buy shots for the performers. The extra charge was paid by the server, he said. I had a decent time but wont be back.

The security guard put his hands on me as a woman that s insane! i did have an outside drink in my bag but it was unopened and i was saying i can just take it back to my car it was no biggie but he started saying it s mine now! which the bartender replied you can get it back later weird but i told the guard you didn t need to put your hands on me like that because he grabbed my arm very forcefully saying he would call the cops. (which what would they do if i have an unopened container? nothing in va that is very much legal.) He then started yelling at me. Very disappointing and very weird! I had a good experience last time but i won t be back due to this woman-hating weirdo! P.S I work in a bar too it would ve done no harm to let me put the drink back in the car and i know that for fact.

Todd is a fantastic server! ALL the staff is exceptional! Always a GREAT time at Drag Brunch!!

To clarify, it is only 18+ on Wednesdays. Apparently that is a recent - and disappointing, for this old Queen who wanted to take his 18 year old to his first gay bar - change.

This was an amazing place I had so much the drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming!

Great experience. Entertainment is excellent. The food is very good. Drinks are very good. It did take a long time for food to arrive. One suggestion is that the entertainers come all the way down the aisle before making a change in their outfits. If you are sitting against the wall, you cant see what is happening up by the door.

Loved this place in my younger days [2023 Edit] OMG!! Blown away with the quality of the remodel. I remember it seemed less grand when I was a freshman (some 10+ years ago) The owner even remembered my face even after 5+ years after my last visit. Bravo!

$30 to walk in. $30 for steak and potatoes salad (five bite-size pieces of steak). $18 for two Bloody Maries. 18% gruity automatically included. Total of 3/4 dancers. I got bored and went outside. There were some funny moments but not worth the cost.

Absolute GOD TIER drag brunch. The eggs Benny are the best in RVA and the spicy bloody is a MUST. All the queens were wonderful and I cant wait to come back.

The drag brunch was a fun time. The presentation of the food was well done and looked appetizing and the consistency between plates of the same type was executed well. The show was fun and engaging with a variety of music. It was a good time.

Had such a great time at Godfreys. The talent is unmatched, service is spectacular and the energy is outstanding. Im not mad at the $30 price on a BLT as I assume thats to help support the staff that makes the magic happen. The BLT was actually quite good and the drinks were fantastic. Tommy, our server, was amazing! Why only 4 stars? Because someone needs to clean that bathroom. I dont think the floors have been touched in 12 years.

It was a very nice place. Lots of interesting and diverse people there. And their drinks are reasonably priced.

The Drag Brunch is worth the wait!

We had a fabulous Drag Brunch today for my friends birthday, the entertaintment from the ladies was second to none. My issue lies with the food service. It took over an hour to get our food and when it had arrived I had to switch my plate with one of my parties since we almost eat one anothers meals. It took so long to get our food, I literally forgot what I ordered. Our server came over and stated I was eating my others parties meal. When I attempted to give it back, he told me I had to eat it instead of rectifying the situation correctly. That truly put a damper on my very first experience at the venue, very poor customer service!

This was the first drag show that I have ever attended so keep that in mind. The venue is relatively small but open. The staff and service were excellent. I found everyone I interacted with to be incredibly kind, from the front door security to the bartenders. The drag performance was fantastic. I was blown away by the level of talent exhibited. The entire experience was so much fun and inclusive. Definitely stop in and see the show or just hang out, either way you are bound to have a good experience.

Went in blind for a Bachelorette Brunch and was absolutely blown away. Immersive and entertaining atmosphere accompanied by a dining experience featuring delicious food and formidable cocktails. First: The entertainers were THE BEST! They were all amazing dancers! They engaged with the audience and made everyone feel like they were dancing for just them! They were running a bit behind for the 2:00 show and food service was really late. There were 2 servers for all the tables. Incorrect food and drink orders. We still had an amazing time and would definitely go again...but maybe for the dinner show instead.

We had a great time and would definitely come again. The food tastes great and the show is fantastic. The food does take forever to arrive. Also the music was a little loud while we were ordering so one of our meals was incorrect and with the show going, when it arrived, and the long wait for food there was no way to get the mistake fixed. Also, the person who took our order was a little rude to one of the people in our group about a food allergy. Dietary restrictions: The waiter had a hard time accepting our requests due to an allergy to gluten. He was arguing with my friend about what had gluten and what did not.

Getting pretty crowded and loud but what do you expect from a club. Got to see some amazing drag performers. Will be visiting again.

Amazing entertainment!!! Lots of fun would recommend for any birthdays or celebrations! The food did take a very long time to arrive, and when it did it was not hot or seasoned, the waffles were not fresh and I wouldve preferred eggos. Great drink options, fantastic service and performances, I just think the food could use improvement, especially considering it is brunch!! overall I had a great experience despite the food.

The waiter was excellent. We didnt get our food till 1:30 ...2 hours after we ordered. Food was excellent !! Next time, cause there will be a next time. Going to eat b4 I go and just have drinks . Drinks were great too!!

I had party of 20 for brunch. Everything was absolutely perfect! My mother is 83 and we went to lift her spirits after the death of my brother. The hostess and all the QUEENS treated her with so much LOVE. She enjoyed herself so much ,she asked when are we going back. The food and drinks was absolutely delicious ..... This may have been one of my favorite brunch experiences! The atmosphere was very friendly & welcoming. The steak & potato salad was okay, but the drinks were good & the performance was definitely the highlight. If you havent been here yet, definitely plan your visit asap!

A blast, truly! Good vibes, great food (no seriously, never been to a bar with better food), and hot queens. Brunches require a reservation in advance, but the Saturday nights are open and incredible. Check Godfreys out ASAP!

I am beyond upset!!!! I was put on the waitlist for the Drag Brunch there for planning a 40th Birthday Party. I checked my bank account which had an overdraft because of this charge. I was not given a call March 15th which is apparently when they emailed me which went to my spam or follow up after that email regarding if it was something that we were still interested in doing. Instead I was literally called 45 minutes before the actual time of the reservation to ask if we would be there. We had to make other plans because of this I am so frustrated and will be giving them a call! So just to let anyone know they do not give your courtesy call you let you know if you wanna cancel or not after sending an email I wish we could make it up to go again but I am not to sure what response we will be getting from the manager on duty

After learning that I have two half-sisters, we met in person for the first time in Richmond and I took them to Godfreys to celebrate our meeting AND one of my half-sisters coming out as bisexual. I slipped a note to my server, who gave it to the show hostess. The show hostess did SUCH an amazing job of making this a special experience for them. On an average day, brunch at Godfreys is fantastic. On this day, brunch at Godfreys was INCREDIBLE. I cant say enough good things <3

The food and drinks were great, the service was fine too. The show was amazing and fun, however its much too loud. There are no prices listed for the food and drinks, it is not an inexpensive place so plan on spending a bit and there is a cover charge.

Godfreys is a drag queen bar so they do not serve food. They serve wine beer and mixed drinks. They are open on Wednesday Fridays and Saturdays if you get there before 10:00 theres no cover charge.

Went to Godfrey s and the bartender Nick was so sweet and helpful. Despite their computers being down he was very sweet and informative and we WILL be back again for a later night

They charged a cover when their card machines and internet is down they were operating cash only something was very fishy about the whole situation because they were using iPads to charge for which could easily operate with a hotspot as an out of towner I would never go to this place again. Drinks are crazy expensive and a cover for a bar with about 15 people in it on Memorial Day weekend Saturday absolutely ridiculous. Go to barcode!!!!

A few of my friends and I came to Richmond for a weekend. Godfreys was one of the places that we were fortunate enough to attend, I wasnt sure what to expect as I have never came to a show before. When I say that the entertainment here was out of this world. It was such an amazing time, all of the performers did amazing, The host was the host of all hosts. If I come back to Richmond, this would be one of my spots to visit again and again. Hell, the food was even delicious.

Always has been one of the spots . New renovations. I went on a Saturday(Homecoming weekend for VSU & VUU), it was barley noone there. The performancers were beautiful and great. The staff was amazing like always. The music kinda boring. I heard Friday night is Black(African American)night. Hopefully it gets better, and the music is great next time. Cant wait to see more they have to offer.

The host and show was great, but the waiter we had was incredibly rude. I had to ask other waiters for help since the person I had was very short, snippy, and just seemed irritated or annoyed. I also was at a table that I m sure was a fire hazard as it blocked the steps. I couldn t turn around to watch the show without my legs hitting the person Infront of me and also hurting my neck. I would go back if I could sit in a different spot and not have the same waiter. I wish there was a way to rate separately because everything and everyone else was awesome !

Amazing fun day Sunday!!!

Very cute gay bar with food and lots of drag. Diverse, friendly crowd. Was happy with the music. Bar service was great! Prices v good. Missing star is for having open-carrying security. No one likes to see a paramilitary-looking dude wandering around while they try to drink and have fun, and it increases risk of serious injury or death if they have to break up a common bar fight. Understood that gay bars are a target but open carry guards are not the solution.

My 1st time and I was not disappointed and the food was good

Godfrey s was one of the first places we visited (for drag brunch) when moving to RVA and it s still so quintessentially RVA. The drinks are excellent, the staff our so wonderful, and the food is surprisingly tasty for a bar!

This was recommended to us for brunch. Im so glad we came because we had so much fun!! The food and drinks were good! The show was amazing, I kept forgetting to eat and drink. We will definitely be returning!!! On the other hand, what I did not know was that they automatically charge a 20% tip to your bill. I was okay with this, it was a sticker shock when the bill was higher than anticipated. They also must have changed their prices because I saw it was $25 a meal and it was $30 a meal on the ticket.

I had the most amazing time for a friends birthday. Hadnt have been to Godfreys in years but went and everything was amazing. We had the best time. Were thinking about making it an annual thing on Sundays once a month.
