Always good food

The dishes are a hit or miss. More traditional foods like fried potatoes and omelets for breakfast can be yummy. Food like Huevos Rancheros is best avoided. Parking depending on when you go can be great if you can park across the street. If it is busy, you could be searching for a while. Their alcoholic drinks are ok but not the most flavorful. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Seating is spacious. Parking: Early morning parking is easy to find and non-peak time parking is easy. Eating during peak hours, parking will be a challenge. Kid-friendliness: Yes bring your child. It s a family friendly restaurant.

Came for brunch today (Sunday). Service and food was great. We ordered steak and eggs and the crab and egg enchilada, both were well seasoned and delicious. Happy we found Millies and plan to come back.

I ordered the shrimp and grits. My meal arrived cold. The meal was a gressey mess. Paid $14.00 for 4 shrimp and cold grits.

This place was great. I had the Devil Mess, which seems to be their signature dish. Was a good level of spice but not too hot. They also were accommodating to my wife with Celiac disease (gluten). Dietary restrictions: Accommodating to Celiac (gluten).

Fantastic burger, great service. This place is almost too noisy, whether its people inside yelling to be heard over the ridiculously loud music, or outside with a steady stream of diesel trucks gunning it up the hill.

Gotta say the food is amazing and the presentation was great. That being said, for takeout ordering online, adding a 20% gratuity to the order and having it hidden under Taxes and Fees is pretty shady to me, then to ask for a tip online and again in person was pretty aggravating. Pay your workers fairly, dont make us pay 1.5x the price of the bill.

Traveled all the way from Vancouver BC to visit this tiny gem tucked away in the middle of nowhere. 100% satisfied with the food, service, atmosphere and even the other customers were friendly and cool! Simple pub food for the most part, but try the chislik! Cheers!

Food is all kinda the same. A bit Sriracha heavy. Corned beef hash was more like a corned beef stew definitely not what you re expecting. People are nice and the service was great, but I m personally not a fan of the menu.

Millies is okay. Great if youre hung over, I reckon. Got the eggs benedict and country ham on a croissant. One of my poached eggs was hard boiled? The croissant was mildly burnt. My partners bagel was also burnt. Service was stellar, though.

I didnt want to make this review, but after calling the store multiple times on different days and times there was never a manager on duty. I came in with a friend and had brunch. Food wasnt as good as I remember. As I was eating this sub par food as I kept hearing super vulgar music. The most vulgar song was Gimme the Loot by Biggie. I thought it was weird to hear music like this on a weekend brunch. You have kids, older people, and church crowds coming in. For a restaurant that is supposed to be inclusive for all just seems weird to play non family friendly music especially so early. After my meal I left a gracious tip for Ruth. On my way out I simply asked about the music and if they always play it. (I was thinking about bringing my grandmother in because it is right next to my house and the patio has easy wheel chair access) I asked if they always play it because I would like to bring my grandmother, but she does not like this music. Ruth and the host proceeded to laugh at me in my face. They said yeah dont bring your grandmother in here sarcastically while they laughed in my face. I have been a server, bartender for years and never, ever in my career have I ever laughed in someones face. I thought about picking up my forty dollar tip that I left on a $90 tab back up, but I didnt want to cause a scene. And of course there wasnt a manager on duty to make a complaint to. Its absolutley okay to play whatever you want to. A restaurant has every right to their playlist. I love Biggie. But to laugh in someones face when they ask about bringing their grandmother in? Thats just wild. And honestly what restaurant operates without a manager on duty? No wonder the staff acts like that, there is never anyone there to lead the team. I will never be back. Like I said the food is nothing to brag about and there is 1,000 other restaurants in walking distance in Churchill and Shokoe that dont treat people like that. I left a 50% tip and got laughed at. Im still shaking my head. Their staff, especially Ruth and that hostess wearing the camo need a HUGE class on inclusion, diversity, and hospitality.

Millie s is my favorite brunch place! The servers are exceptional and as a vegetarian I ve never had an issue finding delicious food. They play the best music and the vibes are immaculate!

The Corn Beef Sandwich was honestly the best sandwich I ve ever had. This is an update. I made this review 5 years ago and I returned today and they no longer have this sandwich. The world s greatest sandwich is dead. This is still a good restaurant with good food and service but I am sad about the sandwich.

The sautéed shrimp Thai dish is worth the trip! Spice is just right. You get the heat and the flavor.

We had a quick breakfast during a road thrip thru VA; we ordered the Devils Mess and Veggies Mess, they were both good, the server was nice and attentive.

Genuinely the best chicken caesar salad i ve ever had. Lettuce was fresh and crunchy, perfect amount of dressing, and the chicken was delicious.

Just had Brunch at Millie s today. The staff was fun and kind, my drink was delicious, and overall my food was pretty darn great. My only thing keeping this from being a 5 out of 5 Star review is the poached eggs for the Eggs Benny. The yoke was more like a soft/medium boiled egg rather than a runny poached center. I realized they make a lot a once and keep them warm by the grill (visible from the bar area) which makes sense when you are trying to get food out quickly for customers, but I wish they had a method for this that did not continue cooking the eggs at the same time. All that said, still recommend Millie s and I know my friends and I intend to make it part of our regular brunch rotation.

The food is just so so

Not sure why there is so much hype for this place. They advertise that they do huevos rancheros, but it s really just soft tortillas with random under seasoned or overcooked vaguely Mexican ingredients. Like, why?

I had the special of the day. Pork chop with eggs and special sauce. Home fries. Everything was very tasty. The chop dressing was great.

Been going to Millies for years. Ive had to move away and miss them already. Its a Diner but kicked up at all times. Service is always top notch even when they are slammed (which is often). Great fun sitting at the bar and watching the magic happen in the kitchen.

Millies Diner is a great choice for a quick bite while in Richmond. The staff is great, and the food is delicious. The prices are fair, and I recommend making a reservation ahead of time since this place is popular.

I will share my experience today, Sunday April 30 I arrived with my dog and told them that I didnt want to occupy a table since I was drinking and would sit on the bench. And I ordered a drink and never got it they waited on customers that came in after I did. So when someone said my drink was coming out. I refused the service. I called to speak with a manager and was told too busy to speak to me!

We had Ruth as our server and absolutely loved it! The food was so yummy and the staff was kind. Will absolutely be going back.

All around excellent. Last time I went, they had a special that was a chicken bacon ranch brunchwrap that was SUPERB. Fantastic food to enjoy in the morning! Homefries can be a tad overseasoned sometimes, but perfect otherwise.

Excellent breakfast in a chill, down home environment. Had the huevos rancheros and the Irish Mess special, with coffee. Coffee was a notch above diner grade and good enough I had 3 cups. Service was superb and timely.

Recommend making a reservation to go. The food is delicious and service great. The atmosphere is a bit loud and the music was definitely a fun vibe. The specialty drinks are a bit overpriced in my opinion and so so. The potatoes are a bit spicy but oh so good. Definitely a hopping brunch place I recommend. Paid parking across the street unless you are lucky or early. Oh and watch your head going to the bathroom down the stairs that could be a bit dicey for anyone 58 or taller!

We had the salmon and eggs dish, and the crab enchilada. The food was good, we enjoyed the potatoes the most. A fantastic brunch. made a reservation the same day and everyone was super accomodating. We ordered both specials. a tuned up crunch wrap supreme and a Japanese pork pancake. Both very random entrees to be specials but done perfectly.

Went there for the first time on Sunday, this place is top tier. Theres an open kitchen, you can see people working hard to give you a great experience. The servers/food runners are nice...THE FOOD THOUGH! Man seasoned perfectly, tasty. 10/10

Weve been going to Millies on our visits to Richmond for years but this time I was a little disappointed. My husband ordered 3 different beers before he found one they werent out of, the corned beef hash was extremely salty and the potatoes were undercooked, and they forgot to put the egg on the sandwich. There were just a few tables there for lunch at 1pm so they werent very busy. Ill give it another shot at some point (its been a favorite of ours for years). The service was great, but without the usual crowds of people and energy were used to, it seems a bit run down. Sorry.

Came for brunch, reservations thru Open Table. Food was uniquely flavored-delicious! I ordered the Devil s Mess, others got the BLT & Avocado Sandwich, the Avocado, Tomato &White Cheddar Omelet. 1 mimosa, a cold coffee and sweet tea All served with yummy potatoes. Third time eating here and had to lower my rating. I decided to go with the $17 hash brown as a treat this time cause I love corned beef hash. The poached eggs were hard boiled. My hash consisted of huge chucks of extremely (almost unbearable) salty beef on wedges of potatoes. I expect good food these prices. My friends poached eggs were undercooked. The whites were still runny and spread all over the plate. I love diners, but this was over priced. And $3 for diner coffee is rediculous. Overpriced and overrated.

Food was 4.5. I wanted a biscuit or something! Atmosphere and Service were A+

I didnt get any pictures of food. However, the food was fantastic and service amazing. We had just a few hours in Richmond and met my nephew and his wife here for brunch. It was close to the airport and even more notably the food and service excellent. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year s Day brunch at Millie s. The service was quick, and all servers were so kind! I got the scrambled egg and lump crab enchilada - SO tasty! And the huevos rancheros were delicious as well. Would recommend eating at this cute diner!

Great little hole in the wall spot with interesting decor and good food. Glad I stopped in on a whim and look forward to going back again. The only thing I would have desired that I couldnt get was a nice dark porter/stout beer (Heineken doesnt count, as they have that. I wish theyd had a good local porter or stout. But I did get a shot of my favorite Tullamore DEW whiskey) SO, great spot, definitely going back!

They use bold flavors, so the food can be either on the spicier or saltier side, just FYI. I highly recommend the Ben-Gurion if you are a fan of Egg Benedicts, interesting twist with a bagel or getting the corned beef hash. I would return again in the future.

This Diner is a hidden gem in Richmond! My family of 5 visited for the first time but it will definitely not be our last! The atmosphere was fun, the food delicious and the service by staff was professional and friendly! Cant wait to go back... 5 Stars from All 5 of Us!

I thought the service was rude and they were more concerned with themselves. Food is OK at best. The breakfast leaves much to be desired and the booths are cramped. When they told me to basically leave because they didnt open for another 10 min it set the tone. If you arent open then lock your door. If a customer comes in at least offer them a coffee or drink until you are ready to serve them.

Millie s diner Certainly makes East Main Street in Richmond VA cooler, I m not so cool myself but hanging out at a cool restaurant feels good. Millies is deriving ideas, decor and tastes from a broad range of sources and is mentally stimulating. Chill music and cocktails are served too. I better refrain as it is likely a bad look , to drink and Fly although one of my friends says practice makes perfect . - But as always, what makes a place ??? The people !!! Someone named Paul Keevil is the proprietor and he is bringing it all together and has been since 1989. The staff took me down a journey that I d like to repeat, with tasty food and friendly service!!! I ll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes when back here in Richmond. VA.

So much fun! It s been 13 years since my friend Dianne introduced me before I came back. Lovely people. Super cool vibe and amazing food. A simple omelet with amazing home fries and herbed cheesy grits!! My bf had the lobster scrambled eggs in a puffed pastry. He was pleased at the amount of lobster and loved all the flavors it presented!! I also LOVED having a reservation and not having to wait!!

Great Ambiance and Friendly Staff. A bit cramped and can be a little loud if you re noise sensitive. Also if you aren t a person who like spicy foods I don t recommend the house potatoes. But if you do they re fire!

Fun pub in a historic neighborhood. Outdoor sheltered patio where your dog can sit. Very tasty hamburgers. Western music the afternoon I was there. Very short distance from i-95 if you are passing by.

This is the place to go if you like eggs. It was very difficult for me to find something I could eat. All though the choice are basic the menu just didn t appeal to me. For a bigger guy I felt the booths were very tight and uncomfortable. The service was great and the burger was ok, nothing to write home about. This menu (as for me) lacked excitement. Nothing on the menu screamed you have to try me. The server and service was good and steady. The hostess looked like a blond Ann Hathaway. Very pretty and the place was convenient. Not Keto Friendly.

Ive been going for 30 years now, and it still tops my list. Love that you can get a late brunch there every day if you want:). I only drink coffee a few times a year, but if I do its always at Millies, so good!:)

I opted for the Eggs, but to be honest, the food was just average. Perhaps my expectations were too high after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, I didnt find anything remarkable or outstanding that would make me want to come back again. The portion sizes were typical, and the Eggs Benny had a noticeable level of spiciness due to the curry-like spice blend. Personally, I dont think it was worth that I spent here. On a brighter note, the staff was courteous and efficient in preparing the food, making it a pleasant place for breakfast. If youre not a fan of spicy food, its worth noting that theres a slight touch of heat in their dishes.

I took my son here on Sunday. The place is incredibly small, and even with forty people, it seems packed. I would suggest making a reservation if you re planning on going during the weekend because you might not be lucky enough to get a seat right away like we were. Despite being small, though, it s a cute place with a very hipster vibe. They even have juke boxes at the tables. I got the veggie wrap with a side of home fries. To be honest, I would have liked a bit more seasoning on the wrap. I added some sriracha sauce, and it wasn t bad, but also wasn t anything I d go back for. My son got a side of scrambled eggs because it was the only thing on the menu he liked. The staff were friendly and gave us free refills, but my tea was only lukewarm. Nothing was bad by any means, and I d happily go back in the future. But nothing there made me say, Wow! I can t wait to have this again.

Great food and a really cool spot. Loved the tabletop juke boxes and the old chairs at the bar. Service was prompt and friendly. Had the avocado blt with an added egg and it was perfection.

Parking: There is a very small parking lot across the street. Its hard to tell though because the sign is mostly hidden. I only found out when the person at the front told us since we were discussing parking. Otherwise, good luck finding street parking. Food

We stopped by in the middle of the week a half hour before they were closing with a large group. They still had everyone s food out in under 20 minutes and it was all very good. Nobody had a negative thing to say about the food other than some of the portion sizes were a little small. I will definitely be coming back.

I will have to say that this place may have just served me the best hamburger I have ever had. It takes a lot for me to say this about a burger but this place is memorable. I honestly can t think of a better burger I have had anywhere. Only comparable place was at a diner in St. Louis called courtesy diner which sadly closed down. Only suggestion I would have for this restaurant is to serve French fries as they don t offer them. My partner got the eggs Benedict and he said it was the best he ever had as well. Even with the lack of fries, Still this place is amazing and the burger was heavenly and I ll be back. Also, while you re here make sure you take time to use the bathroom. The toilet is very clean. Parking: They have a small lot but paid parking is available across the street

A dive bar diner right out of the 60s. It s loud and proud and the food comes fast and plentiful. If you don t like Millie s you need to get yourself a soul. If you re traveling, get out of downtown and eat where real Richmonders eat. And don t forget to tip the cooks

Millies is a small diner with an elevated menu but nostalgic atmosphere. We had the lump crab enchilada, the chorizo omelette, and the Cajun mess frittata. They all came with homes fries and every single item was seasoned to perfection we ate every drop. Our server was attentive and although small you dont feel like it once youre sitting down because of the amazing ventilation.

Loud, very compact, wait staff wouldn t even look at you when they talked to you. Overall I will never return to Millie s.

Went for Sunday brunch. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. It was very busy so was a bit loud but not bad. Our server was very friendly and did a great job. Had the special which can t remember the name, but it was very good. Steak wrap with fried eggs and pico de gallon and a side of spicy potatoes. Presentation was commendable. Coffee was solid. Overall i was very impressed and would absolutely recommend. Hope to go back soon. i didn t have an issue finding street parking, but did have to park a few blocks away. Not a problem though.

The pancakes are pre cooked...I could stay at home for that...Ill do lunch next time

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere

I had a Bloody Mary and the shrimp & grits. Both were delicious! Service was exceptional as well. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Richmond. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free options

Small corner establishment with a pretty darn good breakfast. Amazing hostess greeted us and lucky for us, there was an outdoor table. We did make reservations in advance because we had heard that Saturdays can be pretty busy. I have to tell you that my favorite part of the day is holding a good mug of coffee so when we were served our coffee in paper cups, I honestly was a bit disappointed. Not sure if you get a real cup if you dine inside....but the coffee was pretty darn good. So, I will overlook the paper cup if it makes sense for good reasons. Now on to the food, my dish was amazing. I had an omelette and potatoes and my daughter has some kind of eggs on a croissant with canadian bacon (I believe). She did say her meat was on the saliter side so maybe ask before you order. The morning could not have been prettier and sitting outside enjoying a great breakfast was such a treat. Will definitely be going back soon!

Stopped by Millie s Diner for breakfast and was truly delighted by the experience! The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a morning meal. The dishes were freshly prepared and packed with flavor, showcasing the quality of ingredients used. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring our dining experience was smooth from start to finish. Highly recommend Millie s for anyone looking for a top-tier breakfast spot!

Food was delicious. It s best to make a reservation as they are always busy. The food was fast and hot. I was able to sit at the bar for a party of 1.

Millies food we had was not good. It was way too salty - the potatoes were burned. But what bothered me the most was how dirty it was. The counter side where they were doing food prep was so dirty - made me understand better why it was so dark in there. Which it was so dark it was impossible to read the menu without using your phone flashlight. First and last visit -

A lovely little diner with delicious food and wonderful staff! I went there for a my birthday brunch and got the Cajun mess, it was delicious, and I like that it s an amount of food you can reasonably eat in one sitting. The mess is like a frittata:)

Convenient lunch spot to refuel just around the corner from the Virginia Capital Trail parking lot at Dock St. Plenty of gluten-free selections. Food was quick and tasty; staff was friendly; prices very reasonable.

Our breakfast after visiting #edgarallanpoemuseum. Devils Shrimp & Grits and Veggie Mess. A bit loud but Ruth was a good waitress.

We came up from San Antonio and this was one of the best places we stop at here music was great and service was really great. Will definitely be back next time we are in town food was good and fresh.

The food was fine but not exceptional. The staff working the tables should see to it that the table is cleaned (I ran my finger and it had a greasy like film on it) which comes from using the same towel to clean multiple tables as I observed. I just wanted to eat and continue my vacation. As for atmosphere, I found the ambiance noise loud. The bathroom is downstairs better hold the railing, if you are a senior.

Went to Millies for the first time, it was a great experience! The food was delicious, the Irish Coffee was absolutely amazing, vibe was great! Everyone who works there is so unique and spunky, I had lots of fun!

On Wednesday November 29 2023 I was visiting Richmond and in my first morning first restaurant first everything I search for breakfast restaurant and I came across with this place, looking at the reviews and photos of food it cut my attention and wanted to try For my luck the host witch she didn t even great or nothing she point me and show me the bar so I said perfect due to the fact I was alone I m in town for business no need to come to a different city and continue dealing with the actitud of people that probably have to deal with it in my own city. I don t know if she is unhappy with her job or passing through a ruff time she had a very nasty attitude just with her body language and faces with this been said the ladies gave me the unique look like omg another one that is not going to give tip , it was very uncomfortable that she act that way when people talk very good about the place. Why saying this? Because as a person that works 5 jobs have to take care of my mom with cancer, plus dealing with my anxiety and panic attack towards people that act like this, I have to learn how to grow and understand that when I m at my job eather because I love it or is what I have for now I need to treat every single customer how I like to be treated it, we can have the worst day but you don t need to ruing other people s day . At the end I didn t eat, I left and went to first watch which I all ready knew . Hope this could help for the business to micromanage their employees because this is one of the 5principal reasons why businesses loose costumers. Had a good meal at this cool spot! They had a special for the Monterey mess and it hit the spot.

Such a fun place pricing isnt bad and its got a great atmosphere the food was amazing!

We really enjoyed our brunch here. The ambiance/decor is fun and truly adds to the experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. We loved our food too, especially the potatoes Highly recommend coming here with a group of 2-4 people.
