The Hill Café, located in Historic Church Hill, offers delicious neighborhood comfort foods in a cozy setting. Nightly Blue Plate specials, a broad selection of liquor, beer & wine and friendly service make The Hill Café a great spot to eat, drink and enjoy the neighborly atmosphere.
What a wonderful dinner. We had placed a pickup order for tonight and ordered the Fried Chicken breast (2) with 2 sides , Brussels sprouts and French fries . The flavor of the chicken was perfect, delicous , juicy, and crispy . The Brussel sprouts were also packed with flavor . I wouldn’t recommend getting fries to go because they get soggy , however you can tell the quality of the food was delicious . The street is packed with beautiful lights for the holidays and this I will definitely have to try again
We were seated very quickly considering when we pulled up there were several folks waiting outside.. Once seated it took a little longer than normal for a waitress to acknowledge us. She promptly took our order but never checked back with us to see how things were going. My wife's sandwich was served hot, but my breakfast burrito came out like warm. Both meals were delicious and up for the few extra minutes we waited unacknowledged after we were seated. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back.
I visited the Cafe today with some of my family. The atmosphere was warm and charming as was our server. I had the fried oysters, which were little and perfectly cooked, delicious with the accompanying lemony remounted. My companions had the shrimp and grits and the meatloaf platters, which also looked very tasty. My cocktail was perfectly balanced and my companions enjoyed their IPA’s. The entire experience was a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon and I look forward to a return visit the next time I come to Richmond. Thank you so much!
I hadn't been here in years, but had very fond memories. Yesterday evening was just as wonderful with all the boxes being checked in all departments. The atmosphere possesses a quaint, but vivacious energy that tapered down towards the tail end of the dinner rush. I ordered a chicken sandwich while my date chose the burger. Both were absolutely stellar as well as the potato salad! All in all I'll be excited the next time I get to go here again!
Ordered the eggplant parm and the chicken fried steak (mac n cheese and mashed potato sides). Overall good! It did take a little long to get food since they were busy inside, so just keep that in mind when you order takeout.
I recently visited The Hill Café for the first time, eager to try country fried steak, which I'd never had before. The café had excellent ratings, so I decided to give it a go. The menu boasted a variety of sides, and being curious, I ordered several to try. The Brussels sprouts and green beans were absolutely amazing – flavorful and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were more rustic than creamy, which was decent but not my personal preference as I lean towards creamier textures. I also tried spoonbread for the first time, but unfortunately, I couldn't get past the texture. As for the macaroni, it was a bit overcooked and mushy for my taste. As for the reason for my visit, the country fried steak was a disappointment as I found it to be overly salty. But when I mentioned this to the server, they very kindly handled the situation. Despite these minor issues, the service was top-notch. Everyone was really nice and lovely, making the overall experience pleasant. I would definitely come back and explore more of their menu, just with some different choices next time. The Hill Café offers a welcoming atmosphere and a great opportunity to try new things. Looking forward to my next visit!
A corner bar, with food that exceeds expectations. We tried the fried chicken and the smothered pork chop. Both were moist and tasty. Perhaps the pork was a tad salty. The green beans and brussel sprouts were both quite good, though the green beans could have more garlic. The spoon bread was a novel treat for us.
Top favorite place in Richmond! My wife and I eat here often and tell everyone we know about it. Lots of great specials. Love the atmosphere and feel of the place. There is some outdoor seating as well. Not the best for really big parties but they are super accommodating with helping you and your party. Blue plate special - fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts!
The staff were all very friendly and attentive and the food was fantastic. We absolutely loved the neighborly atmosphere and how much people of all ages seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Very nice atmosphere. Very nice people. My dish was ok..the shrimp and grits could use some improvement but overall very nice. Very polite
The best part of the dinner was the house salad. My drink taste like no alchohol was put in it. I didnt even finish the drink. Waiter didnt bother to ask why I didnt finish drink. Calamari was very salty. Mash potatoes taste like they took a scoup out the bucket and just tried to heat it up.
Chocolate lovers dessert here is amazing.
Great food and service. One of my neighborhood FAVORITES!
Busy Saturday visit, lucky enough to get a seat at the bar! Been many times. Another really good experience.
This is more of a neighborhood place. Food was ok, service spotty unless you are a local. Kid-friendliness: Not recommending for kids in my opinion. Very small place, but does have a bar for those that drink. We will not go back as we didnt feel very welcomed as we were not local to that neighborhood.
Service was a little slow. Food was good, nothing specific that was excellent
Came after a visit to the Poe Museum. Perfect!
This is definitely a place that has great food!
Excellent vegan food - the Buddha bowl is to die for. Good beers and amazing chocolate cake. Dietary restrictions: vegan
This restaurant is in our neighborhood and always considered as one of our favorites. But the quality has been going down for the last couple of years. Yesterday we ordered the Brussels sprouts (the best I town) and it was a real disappointment. They have changed the recipe being one of the worst I ve ever tried and upsetting my stomach as well. It s really a pity. But always recommend this place but not anymore.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Church Hill Proper. Last night I enjoyed a perfectly made maple old fashion. I ordered the meatloaf and brussel sprouts. It did not disappoint. My dinner date had fried oysters. Both entrees were delicious and reasonably priced. We shared the scrumptious lemon cream cake for dessert. Our server was attentive throughout the meal. Treat yourself to The Hill Cafe. Youll be glad you did. Parking: Street parking. Depending on the day or night, you may need to walk a block.
Love this place! I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and greens. Excellent meatloaf and gravy - highly recommend! The atmosphere is great and an excellent wine list.
Service & food always good. Got there just before 5:00p no wait.
Perfection!
Great little place in Church Hill. Fair prices for good quality.
Swift service, got something to go as well and everything was absolutely delicious
Excellent spot to meet a friend for a great meal in beautiful Church Hill.
Amazing service, with outdoor dining, pet friendly on the patio
Wife and I stopped by here for dinner the other night. We were seated immediately, given water, and a menu. It feels very cozy and warm inside, like finding a secret little community. We ended up ordering the shrimp and grits, the fried chicken sandwich, and some cauliflower tots as an appetizer. My wife reported the shrimp and grits were fantastic. My chicken sandwich was fairly salty, but overall delicious. The slice of ham is an excellent touch and all of the ingredients tasted fresh. My only note is that, unless you like ketchup, the sandwich is a bit dry which is exasperated by the salt. The cauliflower tots left a lot to be desired. Im not an expert, but the tots were essentially a brown mush inside. We couldnt finish them. Overall, though, I think Hill Cafe is excellent and worth the visit. Maybe skip the tots, though.
Ran out of home fries during brunch. Biscuit was over cooked. Shoe string fries were like eating twigs.
Brunch was amazing as the staff!!
Food is great, but....guys...rethink how much you fill a wine glass for 6 dollars! I can get a whole bottle for that and you pour 3 sips into the glass
We had a quick dinner last night. the food was so delicious and tasted homemade, from the pasta red sauce to the mashed sweet potatoes. Affordable, easy, and great!
Cozy little corner cafe. Food/service was very good.
Great place for a coffee. The service is excellent and the quality of the coffee is very good. Definitely get there early or you might have to wait a bit.
Food
Ive had brunch here a handful of times and the food and drink have never really stood out. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. On the negative side, Ive had the burger and the breakfast burrito and not particularly enjoyed either. Based on some of the pictures shared on this page, the dinner looks like it may be better. Not a bad spot if you just want to grab a beer.
Service is great. Staff is friendly and the food is very good. Served hot and quickly. And Staples is great. He s a great ambassador for your operation. But the place needs a happy hour. That s the only thing I would suggest.
Still the best restaurant in church hill
Last minute choice for a party of 5. Had to sit outside which wasnt ideal for the party size (and some folks sensibilities) but it worked. Food was actually better than we all expected. Crab cake sandwich. Pork chop dinner, burger, chicken wrap, and I forget what my uncle had but it was all yummy. Service was good also.
Exceptional. Food, service, atmosphere and value, all 10/10.
Food was wonderful, everything we ate had great flavor and beautiful presentation. It looked like there were lots of regular patrons that had a good relationship with the employees, and as such, I think we were forgotten for a while, I had to go ask for our check. Other than that, 5 stars just for he good food!
You can relax and enjoy a great meal in a great environment. Love this place.
Love this place, food and service is always on point.
This was my first visit. The food was very good. The service was exceptional. My server was friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in.
Never a bad experience at the Hill Cafe. Food, service are always top notch.
Consistently delicious, comforting food, with lots of great options for pescatarians and vegetarians.
No ones going here for exceptional or creative food or cocktails. It s a neighborhood jaunt thats good enough but not great.
Great burgers. Music could have been lower
Ordered online. Spinach salad was missing ingredients listed in the description. Turned out to be predominantly spinach. Very unbalanced. Union market salads are way better. Food : 1/5 |
Epic! Dont expect anything less!!
All the food is good. However, extra emphasis on the meatloaf! Outstanding!
Beautiful little spot if youre in the area, highly recommend the brussel sprouts
If youre BIPOC, you might want to avoid this place. Id give it negative stars if I could. Their customer service is horrible, and lve seen it firsthand multiple times. When I entered with a smile, the staff seemed uninterested in serving me. l asked for a cup of ice and utensils to go, but the attendee cut me off with a rude comment regarding it being for a to go order or otherwise and rolled her eyes. She whispered something to her coworker with a disgusted look and couldnt even bring the items over without showing her distaste. I wont be returning, and they need to step up their customer service game.
Great prices and great location and great......
Nice local neighborhood Cafe, bar. Food was very good and service was good, attentive and helpful.
Great little cafe in the Church Hill. .excellent service and good food. Order the buddha bowl. You wont be disappointed.
Me and my husband had lunch our first time here everything was great!! Definitely will be back very cozy amazing host, server, etc.
Such an awesome neighborhood spot - incredible food, great ambiance, and outstanding service. A great place to bring your dog and sit outside!
A comfortable cafe with a diverse menu that is not too adventurous but consistently satisfying. Vegetarian alternatives are easy to find. There is a old fashioned throwback section of the menu called blue plates. The cafe is not large but there are some sidewalk table tops where you can dine. Service is very prompt and friendly. Kudos for running after me when I left my credit card at the table!
Was here for Sunday brunch. The food and service were great. We will be returning.
Wonderful local hangout. Good food, tasty vegan dishes. Vegetarian options: I recall there were 3 vegetarian/vegan option entrees the day I went. Dietary restrictions: Staff are knowledgeable and will advise if a dish has allergens or dairy
Very nice environment and good food and drink.
Very good meatloaf.
The flounder, brussel sprouts, & sweet potatoes plate and the swedish meatball dish was really good. Nice place to eat!
Rancid salmon cakes but had to pay for the overdone poached egg eaten before tasted the cake. My coffee cup stayed empty after my first cup. I set it by the edge of the table but no offer or acknowledgement to revive it occurred.
Great services with outstanding foods worth the price a go to place to eat
A great local restaurant, where regulars hang out, the food is excellent, and the vibe is really great.
Small cozy corner on Church Hill. Good food, a varied nenu with something for everyone. Vegetarian options: The egg plant is always delightful You can always ask for a veggie plate
Our group had meatloaf, burger, turkey club and a salad with grilled chicken. All were excellent! Not a big place since it is a neighborhood cafe. Staff very friendly and customer oriented. Assorted selection on the menu.
Blue plate specials are delicious. Real home cooking.
I got the country fried steak, collards, and spoonbread. I was really excited to see spoonbread on a menu and it definitely met my expectations. The meal basically tasted like my mom made it, and the price was crazy good-- like $16 for so much food I couldnt finish it. Also had a martini with garlic olives which were so delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here.
Delicious food (fried oysters best app in the city) and ridiculously affordable meals (blue plates all the way)
Great neighborhood place with classic cocktails and a tasty menu. The service is fine but not great. The menu and drinks consistently deliver though.
Cute neighborhood cafe. Came here with a friend for lunch on a Friday. Loved the little 2 person booth where they say us. I ordered a Hill Burger medium and it was cooked perfectly. Served with nice hot side of fries. I ordered a burrito bowl with chicken to go to take for my husband. He enjoyed it but said he wouldnt get it with the chicken next time but would instead add a different protein. My friend had ordered that same dish with salmon and enjoyed it. I like the cozy feel of this place and will definitely come back.
Great service and quality food.
Always a good meal. Its my third time here and has never let me down. Mostly, southern dishes done right. Its a little place with great atmosphere for a hearty meal or a date.
Best food I ve had in Richmond at reasonable prices. I have to physically prevent myself from eating here.
A great small spot for some good brunch. Had the Eggs Benedict. Great English muffins, wonderful hollandaise sauce, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Highly recommend for anyone coming into town to visit
They were super busy with one waitress & she was phenomenal. I can not recommend the Bourbon Pecan Pie enough! Superb!
My Churchill go to when I need a good drink, some great food, and an awesome neighborhood vibe. The Blue Plate entrees are always a winner. Also the fried green tomatoes are so good. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options on the menu. Parking: Free street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Im not sure, but I would assume it does have wheelchair accessibility.
Hot food should be hot.
Love this little corner restaurant! We make it a stop every time in Richmond. There is always something on the menu for everyone. Best meatloaf I have ever had! The staff makes you feel like a local.
Excellent welcome, delicious meal (I highly recommend the crab cake. Its a place to visit.
So far, every time I have been the food has been excellent for the most part. There is only 1 dish I disliked:clam chowder. I am a huge clam chowder person, and the chowder here is just not good, for me. Everything else has been very good. I also really like the ranch dressing...they make it homemade and its yummy! The staff is friendly and helpful! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. It feels like a small comfy local spot. We will keep coming back for sure. Kid-friendliness: Kids welcome, no kids menu but they accommodate
This was my first visit. Enjoyed the food and service. Will return.
Nothing short of excellent.
It took a while before the food came out
Consistent food, booze, and hospitality! Rightfully a neighborhood gem.
Great location; terrible staff
Nice little spot for lunch. Service was great as was the food. Atmosphere is nice for conversation. They have outdoor seating as well if you are inclined. Price for most sandwiches is $12ish. Full entrees are a bit higher. Parking: May have to hunt a bit for street parking nearby.
Ok, food. The meatloaf and chicken fried steak were a bit overcooked. The service was really good, though. Prices were a bit high, but that is becoming the new norm. Parking: Not good parking at all. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly. More for adults.
Great little gem of a Church Hill establishment. Great brunch offerings, burgers are quality, drinks fabulous..try the dirty limeade for a refreshing summer cocktail. Benedicts are traditional and not so traditional but all are wonderful . Always enjoy Hill Cafe. Price point is very reasonable as well.
Best Dirty Martini in town, do not skip on the in house roasted garlic stuffed olives, its an upcharge but so worth it if you are into garlic!
Came in tonight for my sisters birthday dinner: First Ill start by saying great, super fast and attentive waitstaff, all the way through our experience. The bartender greeted me immediately, everyone was friendly, and the vibe was that of the local neighborhood bar. Our server had knowledge and recommendations. Happy Hour also seems like its worth checking out! First little blip happened with my drinks- they were out of mezcal for the mezcal negroni. Whatever, NBD, I ordered a martini instead. First one came out with a little gnat in it, but once I let our server know she took it back and had it remade for me very quickly. Other drinks were good though! For apps we got the cranberry and goat cheese salad (simple, huge, fresh, great champagne vinegarette dressing); the brussel sprouts (so good, youve gotta order these); and the spinach artichoke dip with pita (warm pita, the dip was awesome and looked like it was pureed? Very smooth and tasty). It gets a little dicey with the entrées we got: My sister wanted to get the filet mignon, but they were out (again, no big deal, restaurants run out of things over the weekend), so she got the chicken fried steak instead. The steak was fried a little too long, but was good, it couldve used a bit more gravy, though. For sides she got green beans (fine, but much better when we added salt and dipped them in the lemon remoulade); and Mac and cheese, which also just fine. A little dry, but not bad. I ordered the fried oyster entrée, and the oysters were great, especially with the Meyer lemon remoulade. Seriously, I think the remoulade was my favorite part of the meal. The spinach and rice that came with it werent great however. Rice was a bit dried out, and just plain white rice, no sauce or seasoning. Same with the spinach, I expected some kind of garlic or onion or any kind of flavor but it was just plain, not-quite-fully cooked spinach. Again, much better with salt and the remoulade. My mom got the fried fish entrée with the braised collards and spoon bread. The fish was good, just classic fried white fish. The spoon bread was also good. Not the best, but definitely enjoyable. The collards unfortunately were super caramelized to the point of being burnt (like.... little crunchy bits on some parts.) Our server was super understanding and got a replacement of mashed potatoes for my mom instead. Which were.... unseasoned. Tasted like they just boiled and mashed em. Again, added salt, pepper, and butter to them to make them more enjoyable. We ended the meal with a lemon cake! It was very tasty with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. Overall, fantastic service, cool vibe; but the food ranged from awful to mediocre to great. I would definitely revisit to give it another chance, and hopefully find the gems in the menu.
Have never had a meal that disappointed at The Hill
Delicious homey meals
Eye feel attacked and disrespected! Too much sugar in the collard greens. We ordered two proteins (meatloaf&turkey), both were dry along with the mac&cheese just dry dry dry and mixed with gravy, their packaging is horrible. First and last time ordering here.
We ordered take out. It was very busy and we had to wait quite awhile for our food. The food was pretty good.
My boyfriend and I went here this evening for dinner. We were very disappointed. The food was not good and the service was poor.
The Hill Burger is extremely good. Much better than Cobra burger down the street that s for sure. The shoestring fries were OK.
Great food, love the burrito bowls, its in a pretty part of church hill with a nice outdoor patio.
awesome food. They never disappoint.
Good food with a diverse menu in a fun bar- restaurant environment. Very good service
A local pub with a great historic downtown vibe. And a legit Maryland Crabcake sandwich.
Flank steak teriyaki bowl was great, vibe was great, service was great
Small place but good was good
Good food and cocktails
I ordered Crabcakes with potato and delicious spinach and oysters with corn appetizer, and my Sister ordered meatloaf with potatoes and collards. When I say AWESOME
Sat outside and enjoyed the Crab Benedict and French toast. Both were great and the waitress was friendly. Ill definitely be going back.
Food is tasteless, service, meh, go for the atmosphere and bar, NOT the food!
Chicken fried steak was wayyyyy to SALTY and a very tough, cheap piece of meat. Very disappointing!!! I expected more
Margarita Wheelchair accessibility: Easy no step entrance. Food : 4/5 |
I went here with a few of my family members and we had a fantastic time. The staff is incredible friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. Everyone in my party was very pleased with the food and service. I got the blackened Cajun chicken wrap and man was it good. All the ingredients seemed very fresh and tasty. I also got their house made sparkling lemonade. And wow that was good.
Great food, great service, and cozy mellow atmosphere.
It is criminal that there is not a line around the block every day every hour for Hill Cafe. Great southern food and service. It is my favorite restaurant because every time I leave this place I can t wait to come back.
I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans and it was the most delicious meal! If I could give this restaurant ten stars I would, the staff was very hospitable and kind and I adored the decor and seating. Would love to come back, definitely a place to remember!
I used to come here for their excellent long island iced tea.. apparently management has changed the drink was nothing but Ice,and the food was HORRIBLE tasteless just uggg.
The food was amazing! Especially mashed potatoes is just wow! If you would like to have some great food, try this place.
Great local place. Friendly. Great food choices.
I think the food just needs a lil face lift. That s all.
The restaurant is my favorite kind - small, local, and with outstanding food and cocktails with fresh ingredients. Ill be back next time Im in Richmond!
The wait staff is professional and lovely to deal with, and the fried green tomatoes are absolutely amazing. Its such great food and a great atmosphere.
Great food as always, and an even better crew working there. The Hill Cafe is a classic
This is some of the best food weve ever had (the pork chop was so tender you could cut with a fork). The service was excellent, wonderful quaint atmosphere, and good beer/cocktails. Highly recommend.
Great service and fried green tomato sandwich and potato salad. Loved it all. Great to have the Hill Cafe in my neighborhood! Martha
Nice little eatery in Church Hill
The food was good and the service was satisfactory. The overhead air conditioner leaked and dripped water on me during the meal. When I brought this to the attention of the servers they replied that they knew it leaked, but this is what happens when its hot and the air conditioner is running. For this reason I am rating 3 stars.
Great place to eat in Church Hill.
I can not believe why people like this food? Went here based on reviews, but let me tell you.. must be made by people with no taste. I cant tell if it was the lack of cooks in the back, but heres something to read. The smash burger tasted so bland, the bread wasnt even toasted or buttered, the meat tasted like burger king himself made it, the fries had no seasoning, expected after the sandwich. Now the meatloaf.. how can that be messed up? The sauce had no flavor, the meatloaf tasted like high school lunch lady served it, the Mac and cheese tasted like no cheese more Mac and all out of a warm up box from the store sold frozen. Also, be careful of the Spoon Bread... tasted like half corn bread and half raw egg, was it safe to eat? I do no recommend regardless over the overwhelming 5 stars with no taste. Service was great though.
-after a trip to the Jefferson Park to take sunset photos, we decided to stop by the Hill Cafe for dinner since it was close to the park. We enjoyed a delicious meal...shrimp and grits with a very generous amount of bacon pieces. My friend said they were the best ever. I ordered the fried oysters entree served with rice and sauteed spinach topped with garlic.I was impressed with the generous amount of perfectly breaded and fried oysters!!! No room for dessert but the offering was a nice variety. Will definitely be going back for a meal when I am in the area of Church Hill.
This is a cute tiny restaurant in an established neighborhood. The service was great, the food was ok. I ordered the tomato and avocado cheese omelette. And it was literally just that- cold chopped tomatoes folded into the egg omelette with cheese and sliced avocado on top. No seasonings or sauce provided. Ill try something different if I go back..
My favorite neighborhood spot. Tasty, affordable food with a good beer selection.
Great food at very good prices!! Amazing vibe
Lunch was delicious. Service was fast, friendly, and very attentative.
9 of us stop in to have a bite based on the menu. We were seated by the bathrooms which was ok. The problem was the little flies flying around and their were a lot of them so we got up and left.
Loved the food, the service, and the ambience. We tried only the vegetarian options on the menu. While we were limited in choice, every item was spot on. Vegetarian options: They have limited vegetarian options. The vegetarian food we tried was all great.
Friendly staff and great spot for lunch.
Been here a handful of times. Food is solid. Prices are reasonable. Service is respectable. Staff is friendly. Street parking is easy to find usually.
Great bowls!
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. The fried green tomato BLT was amazing
Really cute cafe with excellent food and a lovely welcoming atmosphere!
The place was very noisy
Dietary restrictions: A few vegan options! Recommended dishes
The burger I had was great. Wasnt a fan of the shoestring fries. The crab asparagus omelet was very good.
Cool place with great service but the food needs help. I ordered the burrito bowl with shrimp and it was devoid of any flavor. It was a huge pile of white rice (why not brown or spanish rice?) with some black beans and a dash of salsa and avocado slices. Zero flavor. It almost felt like something was left out. The waitstaff was efficient and the building is cool but the food was disappointing.
This place is great. Eric gave us amazing service. The food is outstanding. Eric suggested the fryed chicken, the fryed chicken is fantastic
Great food and excellent service! My only complaint was a really loud dog at the next table, but we did choose to sit outside, so not the restaurants fault.
I went for the brussel sprouts and they did not disappoint.
Best chicken fried steak in town..try the Champagne vinegrette...its rediculous weird good!!!
I have been eating here for years. I have never had a bad meal.
Great food, great service. Fried chicken was some of the best Ive ever had.
We came to visit this place and it was such a pleasant experience! As a party of two, we were able to snag one of the few tables open for Sunday around brunch. We had the breakfast burrito and fried green tomato benedict (side salad w radishes and quinao) they were SO tasty, for a reasonable price, with the icing of great service. I see why this place was packed! Vegetarian options: I know that the 2 vegetarian dishes that I had were super delicious, but I did not study the entire menu
Yes. Everything was great!
Cute little spot. We went for lunch. I had the fried green tomato BLT and it was delicious!
Great neighborhood pub. Awesome food and drinks.
I love The Hill Cafe in historic Church Hill. I have eaten there many times while working on Historic Houses in Richmond. The food is always delicious, the service is always excellent and attentive, and the atmosphere is always cozy and friendly. I really like walking to this restaurant. There is never more than a few minutes wait on the busiest of days, so just sit at the bar and enjoy one of their great beers on tap. My favorite is the Blue Plate Specials which includes a wonderful meatloaf. I also enjoy the fried oysters - yum! Dont miss this place next time you are visiting Church Hill. Cant say enough food things.
Amazing food! Great service! And the Blue special was beyond worth it. I picked up fried chicken steak, sweet potato mash, and Brussels sprouts! Try it and tell me Im wrong! Eric gave nothing less than stellar service!
Good food at a reasonable price. I ve been here twice, and my second time was good but not as good as I remembered the mashed potatoes were not very tasty, but otherwise it was still solid. Overall it s a good spot but fairly unremarkable.
Love this place. Staff is friendly and food is great! Still a great place for food and staff Food : 5/5
Had such a considerate server. Told them I was stopping on my long drive and he made sure to get the food & bill quickly. They were turning out delicious food super quickly regardless (pick-ups and all) but really appreciated the gesture from start to finish. Food was delicious! Ambiance was very nice. Highly recommend and would come back! FYI street parking only.
