The Roosevelt in Richmond

First time at the Roosevelt, left very impressed! It was a busy night but I was able to snag a spot at the bar. The bartenders were some of the best I ve ever had, especially in Richmond! They took the time when they were obviously slammed to explain various liquors and flavors of the cocktails. They made great food recommendations as well, I eventually settled on the burger. 100/10 would recommend. Everything about it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. They even asked about allergies, which I didnt have but loved that they asked anyway. Hats off to both Drew and Alo (I think that were their names) for their service. Drew was taking care of me for the majority of the evening and we had some great conversations and talked about some cool topics like music, drinks, and local spots. He even made me a custom cocktail according to a few notes I was looking for and it was PERFECT. I bartended years ago and was extremely happy by what he came up with on the spot, something I could never do when the pressure was on. The other bar patrons eventually were talking to me and we all were super impressed with Drew and his style! I d come back just to see these bartenders! Will return sooner rather than later just to see them! Amazingly friendly staff, can t wait to see them again and see what they come up next time.

Beautiful restaurant, wonderful staff. The cocktails and appetizers were incredible. A little miss on the entrees depending on what you get, but everything else was phenomenal.

I would give this place more stars if I could. I had dinner and drinks there by myself on a Sunday night and the food and drinks were excellent but the service was spectacular! And the atmosphere was very chill and lovely. It was such a nice treat on a night I needed it.

I had an incredible experience here. I had booked a table for 8 people for my partners birthday and one person got covid and couldn t make it and they were very accommodating and sweet about it. Our server Troy was really nice and he was the perfect balance of helpful/attentive without being overbearing. The little things are what set the experience apart (our water was always filled, fresh cutlery came out after the appetizers etc). The food was next level, we ordered almost all of the small plates as a group and the brocolette really stood out! I had the scallops and grits which were delicious and the group ordered an assortment of things (catch of the day, steak, burgers, scallops, catfish and fried chicken) everyone was impressed and had a great time! Gratuity was included (which is my preference). Over all great experience/food/atmosphere would definitely recommend

Was in town for one night and knew I wanted to eat at this cute neighborhood spot. Excellent food and vibe and creative NA cocktails.

I came here for my birthday. There is something special about the aesthetic of the place that I cant seem to describe. The staff were extremely polite, the food and drinks were great.

A true gym! We went to celebrate my girlfriend s birthday. Cocktails and food so flavorful! Plenty of options for everyone. Our server Kat (sorry if misspelled) was amazing and had good energy that really led to an amazing experience. Thank you, we will be back! My girlfriend truly enjoyed her evening .

Disappointingly mid. Considering the price point, the food was just okay. My group ordered a few small plates and an entree. Everything was very small for the price and just very okay. Service was great, our drinks were great. They were very considerate about folks having allergies. None of us did but they asked and were very aware of the possibility so that was cool. We left hungry.

Small but classy atmosphere with one of the most extensive liquor selections I have come across in Richmond. One of the only places that can make a good old fashioned around here as well. Good service and an interesting food menu.

I had tried to visit the Roosevelt on a previous work trip and it was closed due a private function. So I was very happy to get a seat at the bar in a very busy setting. I ordered the Fish special which was a Tile Fish and I have to say that it was excellent. The dish had so many wonderful flavors and I really enjoyed the portion size, preferring quality over quantity.

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Will be recommending and returning again. Thanks to the team at The Roosevelt for making our first anniversary awesome.

Ate at the bar and the bartender was impressive with his ability to figure out what we wanted and needed almost without needing to ask. The service was great and the food and drinks were amazing. Great place and would like to go for a full meal!

We came from Virginia Beach to have a foodie weekend. The food and beverages was nothing short of amazing. The chef wowed us with EVERY selection. Our server was on point. We will come back when we visit RVA again.

We tried a variety of appetizers, mains, and cocktails. We had the Asian fried long beans, the fried catfish, smoked pork butt, and steak. We also had the Danville Rattlesnake and Death to Videodrome cocktails. All I can say is, everything I had was just incredible. Go to The Roosevelt!

We did not get any food, but we stopped in for a nightcap cocktail, and it did not disappoint! The cocktails are creative and excellently crafted. Mega plus for a female chef. Cannot wait to try them for dinner!

This place blew me away! It s probably one of the top 5 restaurants to dine in Richmond. The quality is of Michelin star chef. You will not be disappointed by the food or drinks.

I took some friends out for their engagement celebration to The Roosevelt and couldnt have made a better choice. The waitress was great. The food was excellent! My girlfriend said it was some of the best scallops shes ever had. Shout out to Will who graciously treated the table to a nice wine for the happy couple!

Great food. I had the sunchoke appetizer and the red snapper. We also had the soft-shelled crabs and pecan pie. All were fresh and delicious. Also nice wine selections.

Uninspired fried chicken special was a small portion that had a partial tiny bread crumb coating and nothing else on plate. Cornbread was expensive and very dry, nothing special about the butter that comes with it. The baby broccoli came out looking like blackened thin stringy stalks. The Snapper fish entre was delicious and included a nice sauce with mussels. High-priced food, unaware promotion of specials, and poor food quality makes for a frustrating dining experience even with the pleasant service. I wonder if anyone is tasting the food or looking at it before being sent to customers.

We went to the Roosevelt this evening and were delighted with a new menu addition crab cakes on she crab soup. One of the most delicious things I ve ever tasted and I m a self-proclaimed foodie! Dear Roosevelt please make this a permanent fixture on your menu!!!

The Roosevelt is one of my go to places cause it s close to me and I love everything about it. My favorite dish there is the pork butt and I will have to tell you when I went two nights ago I ordered it and the collard greens that comes with it were so salty they were inedible. I ve never had that problem before and I m just hoping that our server let the chef know to be a little lighter on the salt. They were so salty that it took away from the taste of the collard greens. Otherwise everything s wonderful.

Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled delicious. The cornbread, lemon pepper feta, burger, and rockfish did not disappoint. Service was wonderful and their recommendations were on point. Looking forward to going back.

The cornbread is so good it almost ruined my relationship. My partner and I had a fight over who got to eat the cornbread to go order the next day. Needless to say he will be returning for another to go order. Can t recommend enough. The porkbutt is delicious as well.

So beautiful at Christmas time

One of my favorite places to go in the winter, though it s excellent year round; the atmosphere is cozy & sophisticated and the food, drinks, & service are quite good. I m never sure exactly how to rate the food (4.5 or 5 stars?) because there are some standout dishes (like most proteins, and really, most entrees), but there are some occasional misses on the appetizers & desserts. Recently, I got an appetizer that was a nearly unadorned block of fried feta, which, though it was fun & tasty, was either too much or not enough to be considered an appetizer. Consider what matters more to you, or stick with the excellent cornbread and a house scotch blend to be safe!

As many of the old Richmond staple restaurants are closing their doors (Mama Zu, Comfort, etc), I feel like The Roosevelt has become one of the quintessential Richmond flagship restaurants. Its now 10+ years old. We were there last week. The quality of food is still excellent. The restaurant is still beautiful. The service is still outstanding. We showed up without a reservation and they were able to squeeze us in. Best catfish I have ever had. My wifes scallops were perfect. We also had the pate and tartare as appetizers and they were outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough, without being overbearing. The bartenders were busy but got to us quickly. Keep doing great things, yall!

Another great meal at The Roosevelt! The food is terrific, especially the burger, the staff is knowledgable and very enthusiastic to please and serve. When we were there they were serving glasses of Taylor Lane 2014 Belle Glos Pinot out of a magnum. Delicious! Hope to be back on our return trip from FL.

The food is so unique and fresh. Everything is such good quality, and comes out rather quickly. The beef tartare is the best that I have ever had - same as many other dishes here. I wish the tables were bigger or spread out but the atmosphere is beautiful, clean, romantic, and lively. The staff is super friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. I always get compliments on my outfit or some other thing when coming here. My bf and I travel a a lot for work but this remains our favorite place to eat.

Possibly my favorite meal is Richmond in years. When you are looking for a great dinner with amazing flavors. zero negatives or complaints.

One of my favorite places in town for Southern cuisine, especially given their penchant for including things on their menu that you wouldnt see at an average restaurant. The duck gumbo was one of my favorite dishes Ive had there, so flavorful with the perfect amount of cajun spice. The alligator piccata and the beef tartare were also a hit for our group table. The cocktail program is always solid, and the ambience is great for dates or group dinners with friends. I always look forward to coming back periodically to try new things on the menu.

One of the best cheeseburgers in town, hands down. Comfort style food with great atmosphere and service. The cocktails are fantastic and they have some creative specials! Perfect for a date, or a quiet drink and fantastic food.

Pleasantly old fashioned, this small but bold restaurant is nestled in a quaint neighborhood area. Parking was tough, but a few times around the block found me a small spot. Reservations are a must, but even that had me waiting an extra half an hour for a table. I couldnt complain though, as dish after dish off the most wonderfully smelling food passed me by. It was hot and tight and the staff was at a feverish pace, busting tables and serving food. The bar tender had a constant rhythm in the background mixing drinks for the nightly patrons. I sat, enjoyed a drink and just took it all in. At my table I enjoyed a cornbread unlike I had ever had. Pie form, it just crumbled at the slightest touch. Coupled with the butter it was the perfect match. Got the catfish after asking between that or the hen. I. Was. Not. Disappointed. If your in the area, make sure you make this a stop. It is quality, quantity and perfection on a plate.

The service and food were fantastic . They only had a few tables because of covid restrictions and one waiter worked all the tables, but he did a great job taking orders and serving everyone. The food was delicious. I had the rockfish and it was perfectly cooked. My friend had the roast chicken and he said it was the best roast chicken he has ever had. I highly recommend this restaurants for a nice night out . It was superb.

Fine dining married with history makes for a warm atmosphere and yummy food. The menu changes often but NEVER disappoints. Reservations are highly suggested or get there early for a welcoming seat at the bar where dinner is served, which happens to be my preference. Vegetarian options: Definitely vegetarian options available. Kid-friendliness: Not so much. More of a date night/parents night out atmosphere. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.

Absolutely outstanding!

Fancy casual spot - you could dress up but I also saw people in jeans. Very swanky interior and love the menu options. Some dishes hit the spot, while others were a total miss or just OK. We ordered the broccoli, and lobster dumplings as an appetizer to share in our group of 3 and had three entrées; seared mushrooms, fried catfish, and the smoked yam and crème brûlée for dessert. I loved my vegetarian option the smoke yam. Excellent smoked flavor on the black eyed peas and collard greens. Fried cauliflower was firm, crispy and soft center. Perfect dish. Only could have wanted more. My friends loved their seared mushroom and thought fried catfish was good, not amazing. The lobster dumpling was such a mild flavor to the point I was wondering was there any bits of lobster in it at all? The shaved fennel was the best part of this dish. There were 4 dumplings. The crème brûlée was terrible and tiny - it tasted like meat was at the bottom. Potentially rancid or just horrible flavor. My group and I were deciding do we send it back? We decided if our server asked us how was it? Then we would. But, they did not ask, so we just suffered in silence and I regret it because it truly was inedible.

Delicious. We got the following: Black eyed pea hummus, cornbread, Grilled terres major steak, apple funnel cake, and blueberry tart. The cornbread was a bit mealy, and we learned we prefer normal hummus to black eyed pea hummus, but the steak was DELICIOUS. Great flavor and really good butter sauce to go with it. The hashbrowns it came with were done really well, also. My favorite part had to be the blueberry tart though. I would go back and order that again in a heartbeat! The blueberries were tart, but the pastry part was very sweet, which led to a really nice balance between the two. So good. Would recommend making a reservation, since it seemed pretty crowded when we got there around 8pm.

Had a drink and and app...then another drink and some more apps....and a nightcap! What can I say? This place is killer! Zach the bar manager chatted with us at the bar while making absolutely killer cocktails. I mean cocktails that change your brain. Banana bread inspired cocktail??? 10/10

Outstanding meal and experience. Our first visit was fantastic. The pate a choux gnocchi were delicious and a novel way to do a familiar dish. Fresh spring peas and cheese sauce, thats spring!

Mad props to the Roosevelt for making me (wheat allergy) and my friend (pregnant) feel like we were having the greatest experience. When my friend needed a mocktail they didn t just have a generic response, they asked her specific flavors and made her amazingly curated drinks. The feta small plate they did in GF which you couldn t tell the difference. So grateful for them and their amazing service.

Great step above just casual. Well designed interior, high ceilings, large windows, and simply delicious flavors from the cocktails, to starters, to entrees, to desserts. Most of the flavors tend more to the savory than sweet (not all but most). Great vibe and service and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Best overall dining & cocktail programs in the city- I said what I said. Chef Leah & her kitchen team are gems. Zach and Eli equal parts talented and entertaining behind the bar. We re always looking forward to what is new & our classic favorites on the menu. Every dining experience at the bar is also super educational (in the least pretentious way). The Roosevelt is the best place to celebrate & if you don t have an occasion to celebrate they will give you a reason. 12/10

Id rate this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. The service was first rate, as was almost all of yhe food. We had a small issue with our reservation, which set a poor tone for the meal. However, shortly thereafter, the chef herself brought us two delicious comp appetizers. That really demonstrates a restaurant that cares about the customer experience! I was impressed, as this level of attention is so rare. The only negative is that the servers should note when the dish being ordered is spicy hot, as the menu did not indicate that. My wife loved the yam-based entree, but couldnt eat much of it as it was too spicy hot for her pallette. That was the only negative on the evening. We will definitely return.

Chef Leah kicked this place into another stratosphere. We try to eat at The Roosevelt regularly-- dozens of times over the years.There are any number of entrees and menu items knocking on James Beards door. This place is outstanding. The drink selection is as good as the food. The bartenders and wait staff are all-around good folks. The kitchen churns out excellent food consistently. Last night we tried the fried feta. And how! Weve seen restaurants come and go in recent years--- very few, in my humble opinion, hold a candle to this place.

Best food I have ever eaten!

My boyfriend and I were passing through because we re moving and decided to stop for the night in Richmond. With some Googling we ended up just randomly deciding to eat here. The food is so SSOO good. Like, we re moving a few hours away but will be traveling back just to eat here good. That kind of good.

Great cocktails. Many of them seemed to be focused on mezcal and smokiness, which I loved. My wife doesnt enjoy that as much but was able to find drinks that she really enjoyed as well. The hummus was very flavorful and packed with veggies, pickled and not. The teres major steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare, two thumbs up. The scallops, though, were so amazing. So buttery, but light and perfectly seared, and the lentils and quinoa with it was also really flavorful. Overall the food was perfect. Our service was also ideal. The server took the time to help us choose our drinks and food, answering our questions thoughtfully.

Excellent Gluten Free options! I ordered the smoked pork. It was a huge hunk of por, but the real star is the collard greens: spicy & I loved them. The fried pickled okra is also very good! Revisited for the first time in years for my 10th wedding anniversary. Could not have asked for better service, cocktails and food. Lovely experience, highly recommended for truly amazing flavors and recipes

Immediately no. Everything was mediocre. And if not mediocre- it was bad. The menu reads (and is priced) like it has been nominated for something. The food looks good. Well some of it. The gumbo, not so much. But no. To start, the corn bread was DRY as I dont know what. Wings were cooked well. But the Alabama sauce did little for them. Every dish was just a salt bomb- very little flavor. The service was s-l-o-w. Dessert... we got the tahini brownie, ALSO dry. Just see the pictures. Richmond has better options

Absolutely blown away by our meal here. We had the wings and tartare to start, the wings were amazing, the tartare was good but nothing crazy. For our mains we shared the pork shoulder and the mixed mushroom dish. They were both really really good. We also had great drinks, the year of the caprese was one of the coolest drinks I ve ever had.

Everything about this place was great! Food was fantastic, drinks were fantastic, and the service was fantastic as well. The whole place just gives off friendly vibes and it s perfect for a date night. Loved it.

Great experience and classy staff ! Will come back

The entire meal was magical! Seared scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious. The Wild Mushroom entree was a combination of exotic mushrooms sautéed in wine and butter. The pork butt entree was a generous portion of tender pork with cracklins, collard greens, and potato salad - every bit was delicious! Then. Dessert. A special dessert of corn pudding with a handcrafted jam of blueberries and red currants was ah-mazing. The fresh peaches were simply perfect. The panna cotta was topped with caramel popcorn - so fun and delicious! And the finger lime topping on the key lime icebox cake was like an explosion of lime pop rockets in my mouth and was the BEST.

Went to the Roosevelt to celebrate the birthday of a friend. The menu is limited. I ordered a cheeseburger well but not burnt. GF ordered smoked chicken wings and cornbread. My burger was medium at best. Got lots of fries that were hot and crispy but salty. Gf liked her wings and cornbread. We had dinner at this restaurant when they first opened and did not like it then. Won t give it another chance.

Beautiful little spot in town with such a great atmosphere. The menu is smaller but well thought out. *personally* it was a bit salty for my taste, but we had a wonderful experience.

I ordered the Wild Mushrooms with pulled bacon, roasted garlic purée, and root vegetable hash and it was phenomenal! The Sweet Tea Watermelon starter was another must have! My mom ordered the fried catfish with tomato gravy and it was also amazing. Wish I was going to be here longer so I could go back and try something else because everything was so GOOD! The prices are expensive for some of the items. Our meals were $20 each plus we had the starter and two drinks. Our total was around $100.

Best double cheeseburger that Ive ever had. All of their ingredients came together in a most delightful way! My cold peaches dessert was particularly special. The just ripe peaches, creme anglaise, blueberries and sunflower seed crunch made for a yummy dessert.

Food was delicious. We sit at the bar because the house was full and we had no reservations. Fun atmosphere and happy environment . I had scallops and my husband pork. Both delicious but the dessert was the winner: the rice pudim was absolutely divine. We will come back.

I had a great experience here, my brown butter salmon was delicious. I think I can be pretty weird sometimes but when a woman stormed in with 2 bags of breast implants during our dinner and set up shop next to us for a sales pitch with a surgeon, it was both odd and also that feeling when you can t look away. FWIW, most amusing/dramatic dinner in a long time. I thought pharma reps met in doctor s offices but the Roosevelt must be THE place to close deals. I ve been here three times and never had less than a stellar experience.

Recommend reservations. Plenty of street parking. Food and service is excellent!

I have been here for dinner and for a dinner during restaurant week. The Roosevelt might be one of my favorite all around restaurants in Richmond. The food is fantastic, service is always above and beyond, and the drinks are great. A bit on the pricey side but you definitely get what you are paying for.

I can easily say that the Roosevelt is one of the best restaurants on the east coast. The staff is so professional yet easygoing and personable. The food is made with fresh ingredients and so much love. The bar and dining room are small but cozy and nicely decorated. This place has everything to make your visit memorable. Here we go again with another restaurant week experience, as I went on November 17th at around 6 pm with another dinner guest. Really have not had a better experience than this one, and the serivce and food were impeccable. Highly, highly, highly recommend sitting down to enjoying the food here. My favorite part of this meal was the collards as well as the potato salad!

The catfish! Get the catfish. You won t be disappointed.

Weve been going since we used to live in Church Hill in 2020. We started by picking up their to-go chicken sandwiches they were offering once a week during the covid lock down. Ever since then weve been hooked and regular customers. Every member of the staff is welcoming and awesome to talk to. Chef Leahs dishes are unbelievable and the entire kitchen staff puts so much care into each dish. The bartenders are the best in the city, hands down. More knowledgable than any other bartender and will bend over backwards to accommodate anyone in the restaurant. If you cant tell, this is my favorite restaurant in Richmond and one I recommend to anyone when the topic of dinner or drinks comes up.

I got the pork butt. So amazingly tender! I never had to touch my knife. Well seasoned. The collards were sauteed with good seasoning of salt and vinegar. Lastly, unlike every other potato salad I have every had in a restaurant or church potluck, perfectly seasoned. The jade sauce was a great addition. Slightly spicy, but not so much that it took away from the seasoning of the pork. The menu is a little pricey, but not so for the quality. My only complaint was a Southern woman was there was not a piece of bread with the meal. Given the quality of the meal, I forgave them for that obvious oversight.

Came here for dinner with a friend and enjoyed it so much I brought my husband back here for his birthday. The tempura rapini appetizer is probably my favorite dish in Richmond. The tuna entree is so delicious. Cannot recommend it enough. Will be adding this spot into our regular dining out rotation. The menu changes constantly. On our most recent trip I ordered 2 starters for my main and really enjoyed both the Manakintowne Salad and the Chicken Liver Mousse. My husband also loved the Smoked Teres Major Steak.

Really good food. Too pricey though the upscale style is nice. For such an experience the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone was yelling over eachother to have conversations. The entrance and exit situation of people standing around in the way of customers leaving needs to changed. The exit needs to be opposite the entrance.

Anniversary dinner here was lovely! The steak was perfectly cooked, scallops were rich and beautifully prepared. Great flavors with lovely presentation! Beautiful cocktails too. Enjoyable all around!

The food was good, small restaurant, the servers werent the kindness. The food wasnt fulfilling, but the presentation was good, and the alcohol was good too.

Easily the best food Ive had in Richmond. Ive lost count of how many people Ive told about my experience.

Vegetarian options: They had veggie and vegan options galore. Just as much time and attention was given to the veggie and vegan options as meat and dairy options.

My only regret is that the food was so good I forgot to take pictures! Delicious dishes and drinks paired with some of the best restaurant service I ve had in Richmond. Definitely a top 5 of all restaurants in RVA. Eli servicing the bar was wonderful. I will absolutely be back for more. Thanks for a great dinner!

Head Chef Leah Branch made a seven course dinner featuring tomatoes that was simply amazing!

A nice casual-fancy quaint restaurant with incredible staff. I ate here for the first time and am very pleased. Our server was truly perfect, made great recommendations when asked, came by the table the right amount at the right times, and was generally very prompt and friendly. They also treated us well as we had a birthday, bringing a dessert out with a candle that matched the persons dress. (I only hope it was intentional) The plating was beautiful and the food tasted great, I recommend the scallops. The only reason I give it four stars is due to the two appetizers that we got. They werent bad by any stretch, but were very, very average. I would give 4.5 stars, if I could.

Porkchops were perfect and the wife had the scallops. No complaints, good experience overall. We had no reservations but were seated immediately.

I went here with my father and son recently. Hadnt been in a long time. We had an excellent meal. This restaurant is a true supporter of the fresh local food movement and a patron of my farm. The chef described the cuisine to me once as fun Southern. Id agree. Nice craft cocktail menu.

Our party of four had a very nice meal, and experienced excellent service. Our meals were unique, including one centered around a smoked yam. Everything was very tasty, beautifully prepared, and presented, and our server was warm, and friendly.

The best dinner I ve had in a long time. We started with the crawfish roll to share. Warm, soft fresh bread, and melted in our mouths. I had the scallops and it was the best scallops ive ever had in my life. i m not exaggerating. I was so mad because it was so stupid delicious and i knew i would never experience carrots like that ever again. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly. Service was so friendly. I wish we didn t live across the country or else we d be here way more often. Well worth every penny spent.

By far my favorite restaurant in RVA. The drinks are hella yummy. The food is the perfect mix of southern and modern, and I ve yet to have anything that wasn t delicious. Love the local influences in both the drinks and the food.

A tasty, memorable meal in Richmond, fortunately, is not hard to come by. Attentive, personal service and an excitement to create -- on the fly -- a non-alcoholic drink and even a dessert without a trace of alcohol is rare. The tall cocktail is a citrus and hot pepper drink, and the dessert -- created just for the birthday guy -- features a watermelon gremolata and fresh figs, grapes, and cherries with honey. Thank you, chef Leah Branch, mixologist Eli Dwyer, and server extraordinaire Tegan P., for an unforgettable experience! Dietary restrictions: My partner cannot have even a trace of alcohol. The chef, mixologist, and server took great care to ensure that everything he ate and drank was not only safe for him but also delicious!

Perfect date night restaurant. Located in Richmonds historic Church Hill this unassuming little restaurant delivers on atmosphere, food and drinks. It is a small space so I recommend reservations. Food was delicious. We shared the cornbread appetizer and then got gumbo and steak. Everything we are was cooked perfectly. The menu changes fairly regularly so we are looking forward to returning to try new options. The cocktail menu is well curated with fun options for a special night out. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make sure we avoided food allergies (nut allergy). Excited to return for a future date night.

This is so wonderful! The food is made with love. Each dish is not eaten for its nutritional value, but for delight in every bite! Such flavor!

Went to the Roosevelt for dinner for the first time in years and it was by far the best dining experience we ve ever had there. Our server was great and knew a ton about wine and serving it, as well. Our food was amazing. The dishes were innovative and creative yet comforting (the way you d expect southern cuisine to be). We particularly enjoyed the pumpkin soup, fried catfish, and steak.

Food was delicious but small portions.

The duck gumbo is phenomenal. Had the turtle soup as well, wish the portions could have been larger. But worth your time.

Celebrated our daughters birthday. It was fantastic.

So glad I was able to experience this place. The staff was super friendly and helpful for their menu and recommendations for other places to enjoy while in town. I sat at the bar and the bartender was quick and attentive as were other staff. I started with the tartare. I appreciate when a restaurant makes an effort to present you with more than just beef. The flavors they use are great and the bread they serve it with is excellent. By far the most recommended plate by the staff was the catfish and I had to see what all the hype was about. It was a bad choice because I will probably never be able find another catfish plate like this. It was absolutely delicious and I feel for people who think they know good catfish when in reality, if they havent eaten this one, they have no clue. To drink I had the Danville Rattlesnake. I chose it because I thought the citrus in it would pair well with the fish and it surely did. The smokiness was subtle enough to where it complimented and did not overpower any part of the meal. The bartender was nice enough to share a small sample of a Pinot Noir he likes to drink with the catfish and I must say its a combo I wouldnt have thought of but definitely pairs well. Also, I asked for a tiny sample of their crab soup and it was hands down the best Ive had in the States. The dessert was awesome as well. I cant remember the name but it was a creme brulee and the kicker was the pepper. Its a perfect sized dessert with a deep flavor. The pepper came through every few bites for me which balanced it so well. A local couple who sat next to me were awesome to talk to and super friendly. Definitely wish I had at least one more night to experience the place again. Absolutely a must try restaurant.
