If you like flavor just turn back around. I recently went with my boyfriend to try this place and the food was just bad. No flavor, the crispy chicken tasted like of a cut up version of school lunch chicken patties, and the sauces really were not good. I don t even understand how you can get sauce wrong. Whoever likes this place honestly have taste buds of a 4 year old. I honestly felt like i wasted my money.

Just not what it used to be. I havent eaten here since 2015 and it was delicious. Was hoping for that same experience, but it just wasnt that good.

Skip the food, it s less than mid funnel cake is alright. Walked in the hostess didn t speak. I might come back for the funnel cake maybe. Thanks for being vegan option, I suppose.

Some of the order was left off, everything was swimming in sauce, the slaw really didn t have a flavor, the sauce was way too sweet. Probably will not order again. Food

I love this place

I got the box option with crispy chicken and liked it! Everything was fresh. They no longer offered the macaroni salad that I wanted, but the rest of the sides were great regardless. The chilled sesame noodles are good side to eat in the summer heat. It didn t take too long for the food to come out either. Kokonut Grill has also supported many VCU organizations in the past so I appreciate their involvement in the community.

Food was okay but no Wi-Fi no restroom and cameras everywhere didnt feel very welcoming tbh

I want to love this place but it s so frustrating every time I try to go here because it seems like at one point they were called spice up teriyaki but they didn t completely change the name on food delivery apps or google when I asked him about it one time in the store, they were kind of rude about it.. Location doesn t help either. Is it really so hard though to just simply change the name everywhere to what your current name is?

This place is awesome- definitely casual cute. Lots of options- gluten free, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian I got the crispy chicken bowl and it was AWESOME. Highly recommend if you re in RVA!

Consistently delicious food! Not to mention the big portions and very friendly staff. Kokonut Grill is truly a hidden gym conveniently located in the heart of Richmond with easy access to the public as well as for VCU students on campus. I am so happy to have found this Asian Fusion eatery that does not have the goal of mimicking the rest, but rather places their focus on serving quality food and service. Was in town for work and went here for lunch. Ordered a Mango Milk Tea. Box order with 2 proteins, crispy chicken with spicy garlic and teriyaki shrimp. Three sides fries, rice and noodles. The decorum looks retrofitted for social distancing still which is fine. Food was wonderful. Certainly did not disappoint. Ingredients seem fresh. Serving size was respectable for the price. Milk tea was amazing though. Best Ive had so far.

Hot and Fast! And low cost too! So this restaurant as truly found the secret of purchasing easy to make ingredients and cooking them up hot and fast at the delight of its customers! Theyve been there 7 years and I hope they are 7 more.

The spicy garlic shrimp or tofu is the best! The coconut rice is superb and I always double or triple up on that when I order the box. I live in Alexandria, so I try to squeeze in a meal from here if I can while I visit.

I came here for their snow cones but they didnt have that. I ordered sesame balls and they were pretty good. The variety is really less though.... but other than that foods okay and customer service is great.

Went to try their boba tea and was disappointed. Three teas (taro, milk, and matcha) were ordered and the boba (tapioca balls) were flavorless instead of mildly sweet. The matcha tea tasted horrible, similar to the taste of blood. The taro and milk teas tasted okay, however.

Very disappointed with there food. It is western food with Asian flavors. Far away from being Asian. I won t order food from them anymore.

Amazing food! The only problem I had was the boba, it wasnt the greatest but it wasnt the worst. The tea was amazing! All though the tapioca pearls where flavorless and where a bit too chewy for my liking. Everything else was great, will be coming back soon!

Where is the seasoning? Spicy garlic was tasteless. Macaroni salad bland; not tasting how it used too!

I love boba, and I love milk tea. Unfortunately, I found myself disappointed with both when I got it from here. There cups are very small compared to most places that serve boba in Richmond, but the price doesnt account for that. However, I minded a little less when I realized I didnt like the drink. I just got the regular milk tea, but it was not the delicious flavor Ive had so many times before. While I was disappointed in that, I was at least looking forward to my boba. Until I wasnt. I usually love boba no matter what and make a habit of finishing all of it. This time was different. The boba had a slightly odder texture than usual and an almost salty or sour flavor in the middle. All of this said, these are my personal thoughts. My mother enjoyed her drink just fine, so please, go try for yourself. Plus, they serve more than just boba

I am here to show my support to the good people who go to this place. I recently placed a review through Yelp. I said I went there with my wife and when I walked in to the door, the employee basically pushed me out and said we are not open inside. The owner responded to defend his employee, which is commendable on his part. I will not give this place any stars if I could. He was a young person. CHECK YOUR CAMERA

Okay polynesian food at an okay price. We ended up waiting more than 30 minutes for food after ordering. I may come back again to give it another shot.

Me and my coworkers order from here CONSTANTLY. I am obsessed with their food so much that Ill take a break and walk over there just for fries sometimes! Yall I can not tell you what a great deal that koko box is. That spicy garlic chicken! The coconut rice!!! Very great every single time Ive had them. The girls who work the register are super friendly and very sweet. The owner is charming. Sometimes theres beach babes on the TV which is both hilarious and also misplaced, but it just makes me like the spot all the more. Eat here.

I got the teriyaki grilled chicken with coconut rice, pasta salad, and slaw. Everything was amazing. The portion size was HUGE and the food was great.

First time trying Kokonut Grill and it was delivered via Amazon. The Koko Tako was delicious as well as the macaroni salad. In the other order we ordered coconut rice and didnt get it. But still the Koko box was good. Chicken cooked perfectly. Ill definitely try again I want that coconut rice.

Couldve been better for the price paid to eat there. Coming from the islands, and was looking for something that can help ease my feelings of being homesick, felt that I didnt get what I was looking for. Parking is bad, cant park in the back parking lot area, as it is not for customer. You will need to park either on the side of the street or in the front of the shop. My husband had a chicken katsu plate, mac salad and their sweet chili cole slaw, I had the chicken bun burger (dont remember what its called), and mac salad and their chicken unigi?? I think thats what its called. But it was on the menu, with fries drizzled in their special sauce (watery consistency). We were both hungry, and felt $28 for just 3 items, we felt was a bit too much. The mac salad was dried, and was lacking flavor. Not my typical type of mac salad, I would get back home. The slaw was not all that appetizing. Its just thin slices of cabbage, tossed in their sweet chili sauce. I felt something was missing. If compared to Popeyes coleslaw, I wouldve chosen Popeyes coleslaw. The chicken katsu had more of the batter than the chicken. And my chicken sandwhich felt like I had more of the coleslaw than the pieces of chicken. We decided to try this place based on the reviews and after our visit, it would be one of those experiences where you tell yourself, its best to make your own at home, after the first initial visit. Their botlled soda is priced at $1.90. Their hawaiian can juice $2.25. Which I was excited about seeing, until I saw the price, it just turned me off. Back home its $ 1.99-$2.50 for a 6-pack. Well, I settled for my bottled water that brought with me from home. Hope this helps.

Cozy setting with colorful and festive decor. Entrees are relatively simple but quite tasty. Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Got the crispy chicken with curry sauce, one fried egg, and the spring rolls for takeout. Its pretty good, but nothing amazing. Wouldnt go out of your way to eat here, but if you live locally, then Id give it a try once.

I believe they re family run place and have really polite staff. Food is always delicious and they ve never gotten an order wrong for the past 2 and a half years I ve been going here. I love the chicken ubi box and the coconut rice. Veggie rolls are amazing too!

Ordered the crispy chicken was told be ready in 15 min. got there in ten. Once opened my food to eat thr chicken was cold and had no flavor at all. What was suppose to be teriyaki sauce dkd not taste like it. It smelled and tasted funky and terrible. The mac salad was also bland.

Cheap and quick food for a casual bite to eat

Food was good and delicious. I prefer normal rice over coconut rice. Food was hot and delicious. Red Bean Sesame balls were good but pricey for only getting 5. Food is a bit pricey but not crazy.

Just ate there. This is NOT the place to go for boba tea. Got the purple one and the milk tea the boba has an odd texture and tastes funny. The food wasnt all that the portions werent what you pay for. Soooooo many ants on the table we had to switch to another one.

THEY MAKE YOU PAY before you get your food! And this is probably why, that food is not that great and the portions are really small. I was really looking forward to the Boba and was very disappointed the texture was all wrong . Also There s an ant infestation . I will not be eating here ever again.

Many many thanks to kokonut grill for allowing us to invade their space this afternoon. This place has THE BEST authentic Malaysian food. The staff and the owner are wonderfully heart warming and hard working souls. They took such good care of us as customers and made us feel like we were regulars even though we were out of towners. This is the place to be if you are ever hungry in Richmond, VA. They even gifted us some goodies for the ride home.

Ive been a regular at Kokonut Grill for the last couple of years. Amazing food and super awesome staff! And now BUD LIGHT is added on the menu for only $3.75! I never want to eat anywhere else ;)

Wasnt bad, just not enough food for the price I paid. I got my order to go and felt uncomfortable with the crowded table setup they had going on. Food was different but nothing special. Maybe great for you, just wasnt for me.

DANGEROUS FOR DIETS! Its so hard to pace yourself because right from the first bite I just want to inhale it all! Seriously so good! We ordered chicken ubi! The chicken had a lot of flavor and moisture! The fries were well seasoned, the sauce that comes with was freaking fantastic, the Mac salad could use a little salt but with how amazing everything else tastes, who cares haha!

Some of the absolutely best food in Richmond - and its great for meat eaters and vegans alike! Unique food. Best coconut rice in the world! Family owned, so I feel good eating there. My kids have grown up at this place. The ABC Shaved Ice is great! It sounds weird at first, but now Im totally addicted. I havent had anything on their menu that I havent liked. Love that I can feed my entire picky family there with healthy food! Tom and Jill, the owners, really care!!!

The flavor was good, but I got the crispy chicken which was not cooked well. It was still pink. My friend got the same thing and hers was pink too. I would have definitely liked it more if it was cooked better. I also got the fries which were much better.

The food was decent, I really enjoyed the coconut rice and the bubble tea. However, I am really trying to reduce my environmental impact by avoiding plastic containers and dining-in when I do decide to eat out. Please, please get some real dishware or at the very least, the paper boxes!

This is definitely my favorite place to eat in Richmond. I have been trying out all the different food options available and have yet to get anything that wasn t delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and like to write hearts and friendly messages on my food containers. My favorite so far is the sate ayam (chicken sate sticks) with coconut rice. The peanut sauce is the best I ve had. You re definitely missing out on the full Richmond experience if you don t try this place out at least once.

So Im at Kokonut Grill and firstly I want to say I recommend it! Visit with confidence, foodies. So I got the Koko Box with Chicken (spicy sauce), coconut rice and macaroni salad. The chicken is VERY tender and is on a bed of cabbage. The spicy sauce it hot enough for a kick, but pleasing to eat with a smokier flavor. The coconut rice has a moderate cocnut flavor, but not overpowering! Sweet and cooked well. Macaroni salad is also very good. Kind of a small place, but the atmosphere is good and the portions are good. Come check it out!

OMG delish!

This bright and convenient small eatery serves Malaysian cuisine, putting a different spin on Asian flavors. I had a spicy variation on a fried rice dish, with grilled chicken and cabbage, and it was awesome. Great food for a cold autumn night.

As a new place (only 5 months old) they have a really good food flavor and general theme. I like the decor, and the customer service is superb. I ordered the koko rice box with coconut rice and grilled tofu with teriyaki sauce, curry puffs, and a Boba milk tea. The food was delicious, the milk tea was spot on, and the food came fast and super hot (they cook everything to individual order!) I cant wait to make this one of my staple food places sit or take out.
