We are serve Asian Fusion foods such as Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese and vegetarian food.
What happened to the bowls… was mine and a lot of other peoples go to for custom bowls. Was that not one of the biggest appeals for this place? Sadly I have no interest in their tofu bowl, I would rather order the custom tofu bowl I have been getting for nearly 4 years. What a shame. The food and place isn’t bad, but limiting the menu is unfortunately the reason I won’t be going any more as their prebuilt options are not what I want.
This is literally the worst food, we’ve ever had. Every single dish was terrible. The chicken wings had no salt and tasted old, thee tom yum soup was just all salt and nothing else , they put this weird overly sweet (kind of like. a bad version of French dressing with mayo) on everything. It was disgusting. We ended up throwing everything out and walking across the street to the chain, Panda Express. Nice young guy at the counter
I ordered Thai dumplings (10/10) , spring rolls (9.1/10) & curry lover noodle soup (wouldn’t get again) the shrimp in it was delicious the sauce was great but the type of the noodles weren’t my favorite. Their soy sauce is so good too. I would definitely come back and try other items from the menu but I for sure would get those dumplings again! I also learned to just go inside to order because prices are higher online
This is a nice and small restaurant with very nice and kind service. Based on the responses to reviews as well as the people inside, it definitely gives off the vibes of being locally owned. I got the pork ramen and while it did not look like the picturesque ramen you see in high scale restaurants or shows, it tasted plenty delicious and there was an ample amount. To make it better, there are sauces and spices near the back that really adds to the flavor. It’s a nice and decently priced lunch spot that will definitely make you feel satisfied, especially since it is close to VCU campus.
The ramen I had was horrible. The egg was not soaked in soy sauce, the broth wasn’t flavorful, the pork belly looked like they just sliced it and threw it over in the pot. If you don’t travel much then you’ll probably think it’s good, but people that have been to ramen restaurants in other cities would know that this was just thrown together. I attached a picture of some ramen I had two days ago in New Orleans and the ramen I had today looked nothing like this. I definitely won’t be back.
Absolutely love this place!! So much better quality than the Panda Express across the street AND it’s cheaper too. Truly haven’t tried anything I didn’t like on the menu here! Even the dishes that appear on the menu with 🌶️🌶️🌶️ three spicy chilies aren’t too hot/spicy for me (and that’s coming from someone who tears up eating siracha lol) The portions are huge and make at least 2-3 meals for me depending on what I get. Eating at the outdoor deck area sitting up high over the street is always nice too. Also, that outdoor deck is dog friendly!
We walked over for lunch two different Sunday's after church. We got the pork belly ramen, fried rice, and bulgolgi bowls the first time. We came with our 3 and 4 year old and they loved the high stools and tables. Their favorite was the ramen, which had delicious broth, and the fried rice, which was really flavorful! The bulgogi was ok. It was good, but the combination wasn't particularly amazing. The service was slower than expected, considering how few people were in the store, but hopefully that means everything is made fresh to order. The ramen noodles are not normal ramen noodles, but you can pick between two different noodle types. That said, the woman at the cash register was very helpful - we asked for two small bowls for our kids and more utensils and she was always very accommodating and kind about it. It's a perfectly reasonable Asian spot in this area. There's a wide variety of options on the menu and they're all good. If you want something in particular (like ramen or pad thai or bulgogi), you're better off just going to a dedicated spot, but if you're with a group, this offers good options and flexibility. Their tall tables seat 6 each and there's also some counter seating on the side.
Very excited I've found this place. Cute little patio with some nice flower boxes. Food was amazing! Curry Puffs were very tasty..wish they were a little warmer, would still get them again. Nice and crispy in the curry concoction it was stuffed with this delicious. I also got the Unagi Don. The eel was absolutely tender with enough warmth to melt in your mouth. Everything was seasoned just enough that it didn't need any very tasty. Highly recommend!
We came here all the way from Texas and it was fantastic, great service, server was very nice! Nice range of beverages too
Delicious bowl of rice. I love the boba as well. Would recommend
i was SO obsessed with Spoon - literally my FAVORITE food. recently their menu was changed and its vegan options are way more limited. i cant really order anymore from my FAVORITE restaurant and they took away the ability to build ur own bowl on doordash / online. very disappointed and was literally a weekly customer that will no longer be buying from spoon. honestly just sad - i literally love the food but they took away like anyway for me to order it. i guess they lost a customer. support ur vegan and vegetarian population pls!! i know this company used to and its sad that they have turned their back on this population. Vegetarian options: limited options. they used to have more but are now catering more towards carnivores.
i had to get a second thai coffee because it was sooo good! thai crab cakes and fresh egg rolls were amazing!
Get the unagi don. The eel is SO GOOD, and theres some sort of more sour riff on a yum yum sauce and great pickled veg. Also great place to get real taro tea with the chunky taro bits. Im sure everything here is great, and theres a cute patio.
The build your own bowl is a win. Love the customer service.
the staff is really sweet and i love the vibe of the place but honestly the food is pretty bad :(
Kind staff, delicious food, amazing ambiance. Dont know why anyone would go to panda express, the prices are even better here. If you are on the fence, GO!
Very Cool, Thanks
Excellent
Love the beef pho, but have tried nearly every noodle bowl on the menu. Fast, good portions for price, and love the people that work there.
Not very authentic. Crab rangoons were more like fried cheese perogis. Ramen no flavor, and pork was dry. The egg rolls were just not good. I will maybe try again down the road.
We get takeout from here fairly often. The bulgogi bowls are great, but almost every time I ve tried to branch out and get something different (usually another rice or noodle bowl), it s a little disappointing. Definitely would pass on the fried rice, it was almost all onion. Overall though, the prices are good and it s quick and easy as a takeout option so I ll keep just getting bulgogi.
LOVE spoon -- they have a great selection and amazing flavors. Their outdoor seating is pretty nice too. Id recommend ordering ahead if you can, as the wait is often a little while since theyre always busy. Id recommend their pink thai tea! There are also many vegan options. Vegetarian options: Many vegan/vegetarian options. Everything can be customized, just pick up a little slip of paper to order :) Parking: Parking is most easily found along Franklin or Grace. Shafer sometimes works, but if its at night or a weekend, goodluck Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible at all, there are many stairs to get to the front door
Food quality 0 Customer service 0 Restaurant cleaning 0 Prices 0 I don t recommend this place Don t waste your money here
I would love to give this place 5 stars based on their food and food alone. I have been here multiple times since their opening and every time the hostess appears to be upset. She does not greet customers, not friendly, offers no suggestions, etc. If this is how it s always going to be I d rather spend my money somewhere else that is more inviting and we re I feel welcomed! It s a shame because the food is good. But the customer service isn t!
Service without a smile or greeting. Food lacks ingredients and spices.
Came here because I saw a lot of good reviews, but it s really disappointing. I ve personally been to Thailand so many times and this place can t really call it authentic. Probably that s why they called fusion that doenst have to taste like Thai foods. The Tom yum doesn t taste like Tom yum at all not spicy just taste like a sour broth with noodle in it. And the curry lava is way to sweet. Mango with sticky rice not fresh, feels like they just microwave the sticky rice and served with some mango and drizzle with some coconut milk. Not exactly what it supposed to be. There are some tables that you can dine in, but they still only give you single used utensils and plates. Semi self service you still have to clean up after you.
Forget items during delivery. Blamed the driver when the bag was clearly too small to have everything in it.
I am addicted to spoon bowls, I ve ordered probably hundreds over the last 3 years lol
We walked in and stood at the front door waiting to be seated. Two employees looked at us, then just walked away, without saying a word to us. We stood there for a few more minutes before leaving. No wonder no one was in the restaurant to eat in.
Wasnt a huge fan of my entrée, but loved the appetizer. My partner really enjoyed it. Ill come back again, but may just get apps
I was quite disappointed with this place. All of the ingredients were over-cooked and tasteless. None of the ingredients were fresh, everything tasted very stale as if it had been cooked days prior and reheated just before service. It was so bad I ended up throwing it all out. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken. My fiancé order the noodles with chicken and she had the same result. However, we did order a bao bun and that was actually very good. I don t think I ll ever come back to this place though.
Food was good. Service was fast.
The food here is pretty good and offers a good selection of a bunch of different asian foods. Their bubble tea is especially good. Also have a really cute outdoor section if you want to eat your food outside! Pretty cheap as well which is nice. Been here a couple times and definitely plan to comeback in the future.
Servers were rude, made faces. Food tasted microwaved. I recommend nothing.
Really good food thats isnt pricey. The outdoor dining areas is a great place to eat at in the evening. For spice lovers, Id recommend their Korean Street Ramen.
Not worth it, go to KOGI instead, they have much better food by far.
One of the best Phos I have had in Richmond! yes please!
Even when you go eat in house they serve you in to-go plastic. Huge waste of materials. Not only that but they don t give you free water. Kinda wish they would stick to just one cuisine because the multi-Asian fusion just doesn t work well most of the time, and their restaurant is a prime example. None of the dishes I ve tried here were really that amazing, and I ve tried a lot of their menu now so this review isn t uninformed. The buns are ok, and the curry was fine the first time I had it but the second time it was super bland and the shrimp tasted days old. You re going to get a more authentic, much better dish from Thai top ten or My Noodle Bar which are in the same neighborhood.
Cute little place. Nice staff really good food. Highly suggest this as a quiet meetup spot. Will try again when Im in Richmond.
Pricey for mediocre quality. $28 for a rice bowl with really mushy rice, some chicken and egg; and an order of fried tofu. Would not recommend and likely will not be a repeat patron here.
Cute place. Tasty food, reasonable prices.
Dine in or out, has contact-free ordering, and the food is delicious. Fusion restaurant that offers excellent Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese dishes.
I ordered the ramen with pork belly and initially thought It was a little pricey but when I got the order, the portion size was plentiful. The broth was very tasty and the order came out quickly. Definitely give them a try.
Simply put...fantastic!!
As you can see its delicious....going the sleep now lol
Not worth paying $11 for the rice bowl I received. Steak was past overcooked, zero flavor, the bowl was half empty. The Tom yum sauce was extremely watery and had almost no flavor, No salt, nothing. I dont see what the good reviews are about and I had high hopes for this place. Extremely disappointed.
Really not good. Watery miso broth and rancid spongy pork belly all served in plastic. Not at all worth the price. Could not finish it.
Different asian styles, Ive had 3 different rice bowls and they were all very good. I have not tried the noodle dishes yet.
The restaurant what is located and I neat clean environment in Downtown West Grace Street. The service was fabulous and attentive. The food was fresh and nicely prepared. I enjoyed my food and the environment, in this nice little gem of a place. Will definitely bring any visitors to Richmond to this area and to this restaurant. Nice place to relax and enjoy yourself. I highly recommend this Asian food delight.
Sorry I normally don t give low rate to any restaurant! However, I think Spoon deserves one star! The noodle is just purely some low-quality lo mein plus Mac cheese. The pink milk tea tastes like some expired & oversweet sugar liquid. Also, there is no tap water when I ask the waiter, which is ridiculous. How do you run a restaurant without normal water??? Also, they should not name them as Spoon since they only give us one plastic Spoon when when have two guests! Please think about this otherwise this restaurant will definitely be broke!
Ordered here for the first time today. I got fresh rolls, crab rangoon, and the pork banh mi. The fresh rolls were okay, a little boring. It was mostly lettuce, with no mint, basil or cilantro inside. 3/5 The crab rangoons were 5/5. They re actually filled up all the way which is rare, and you can taste a decent amount of crab. The sweet and sour sauce wasn t really thick enough for dipping though. The pork banh mi was 4/5. The meat was flavorful and the bread was good, but the carrot wasn t pickled and I didn t get any radish. Also the cucumber chunks are really big.
Fast service, though some difficulties ordering. Food very hot and delicious. The miso soup was super tasty for a classic offering. The curry bites are good but make sure you eat them with the sauce. Curry lover bowl was good and very filling. Pho bowl was filled with meat and had a wonderful flavor.
Waaaay too much sugar in the food and low flavor. Didn t finish the plate
First time I ever had curry broth, absolutely fantastic couldnt recommend more, the stools are a little high though. Outside seating is GREAT, beautiful pation.
Quick, in VCU area, city street parking, quick service enjoyed the dish
I had the pho, and it wasnt a great location for pho. The meat was several types of beef, but they were cut in large chunks it made it difficult to eat. I would not order pho at this location a second time.
I like to go here when Thai top 10 next door is closed between their lunch and dinner hours
I enjoyed the meal. I had the shrimp tempura ramen. Noodles were a bit thin for my tastes but didnt take from my experience. My only issue is I requested no beansprouts but they were still added. If Im in the area though Id try them again.
Do yourself a favor and try the pho without adding Sriracha or hoisin. They make a great broth.
Okay-est noodle bowl I have had. Pork buns were not good, the meat was questionable and the bun itself had a strange flavor. They did not have cups for water so you had to buy water bottles. Additionally, even though we dined in, everything was single use plastic including the bowls, forks, and spoons. They were out of chopsticks. Wont be going back
My favorite restaurant at VCU. Gotten many dishes from them and all were really flavorful and delicious. They have a wide variety of options and their boba tea is really good too. Fast and friendly service. Must try if you are visiting richmond!
Very nice atmosphere and decorations. Food was served quickly and the service was very welcoming. Nice music choices as well.
First time trying their food, ordered via door dash and food came very quickly despite being a bit far out. They prepared the food with haste while being neat with it, and packed my bowl, which is appreciated. The Taro boba is delicious and the strawberry boba is okay, taro def is better! I went to another place before and the tapioca was gross. SO when comparing to this place, they are pretty good, no bland flavor. I got the Egg Fried Rice/BBQ chicken. Will definitely consider ordering again.
Such amazing recipes! I have eaten here probably around 100 times and the service is always great
Great Thai place. Food is done well with great flavor. I recommend the Pad ka pow stir fry and/or fried rice
Incredible food
Bahn Mi bread was lightly toasted, but seemed stale. Chicken Phad Thai was great. Had a bit of every asian style. Good, not a standout.
Good Food large amount for what you pay
This was my1st time ordering. I got the Tom Yum Noodle Bowl with shrimp and the Pad Ka Pow (Stir fried basil) with chicken. Both were delicious! They were very fast too.
This place tastes like youre eating homemade food, it slaps soooooo hard. I dont lie, Im a truther!!! Im telling ya!!!
Make sure your eyes are not bigger than your stomach, the food can be very filling (still tasty).
No disrespect
Ordered delivery from this spot for dinner on a whim and SO happy with that decision! Delivery was right on time and we enjoyed every bite. We ordered the Gua bao, potstickers, Tom yum soup, pork bahn mi, and a bulgogi. Everything was delicious. The spice level was about medium - perfect. The flavors were fantastic. The potstickers were my favorite. I look forward to ordering from there again and trying more menu items.
Very good food. Thai chili inspired I love it
Delicious food! Absolutely loved it.
Was this pork bun worth $5.50? No, no it was not. Food is okay, but prices are pretty outrageous.
One of my favorite places to get ramen and boba!
Food
Really amazing food and service. Customer experience is clearly a focus.
We came for dinner on a beautiful late spring night and chose to eat at an outside table. The four of us each ordered something different. Two of us were very pleased with our bowls while two did not enjoy their meals. To some extent the disappointment seemed to stem from an inability of staff to explain the contents of the dishes and the general flavoring associated with the different sauces.
If I could give 10 stars I would. Excellent food and super friendly staff. The Korean Street Ramen was incredible, and I really enjoyed the pork buns as well.
Tasty pho!
Best asian food I have eaten in a long time. Very well priced and delicious!!!
Food was great, and workers were very friendly and helpful!
Truely one of the best Richmond has to offer. Everything on the menu has been a pleasure amongst my favorite go tos when Im craving something that stands out as excellent.
They had good dish ideas but overall the execution was poor. The sauces in each dish m all seemed factory made, and they were too salty or too sugary or mayo-based. Not a good choice for the health conscious.
Wish i had somegood to say.
I normally buy ramen as I make my own. This restaurant delivers in a fantastic way. I had the Korean street ramen. If you cannot handle Thai hot flavor in Thai food you will not be able to handle this heat. Your mouth will be burning in a good way ( at least it was for me) for awhile. Noodles nice and al dente. I will definitely come back.
Absolutely amazing! Got the beef pad thai and boba milk tea. Great flavor, generous portions, and they served a table of 5 in under 15min! Outstanding!
Enjoyed a new lunch item
Food tasted like a** like it had been sitting in a fridge for weeks and was heated in a microwave. The portion size was ridiculously small.
This place is amazing! The Thai iced tea is gorgeousssss!!!!!
So good and I love that they let you customize your own bowl
I ordered a lunch pickup, a banh mi, and it was bangin! It came on freshly baked bread, had tender pork, and a creamy peanut sauce, topped with a ton of fresh cilantro, carrot and jalapeño. I will definitely return! It was also less than $6! Skip the chains and support local restaurants providing beautiful, quality fare. This city is full of gems!
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice outdoor area to sit in and dine. Very laid back energy.
Stay away. The food is good but the service is abysmal. They screw up orders all the time and blame the driver (three times and its always the drivers fault). You can try and call them, but the kid that picks has an attitude every time, tells me the driver forgets something or its sitting next to him and I can drive in and pick it up my self. Why do I even try anymore.
great food! i definitely recommend going to eat in or pick it up because it s quite pricey if you have it delivered. But it s quite a large serving.
Friendly staff and good food
Tasty and healthy asian fusion spot. Wish the portions were just a bit larger though for the price.
Great food!! Love the curry lover
Had a great meal at Spoon. Staff was helpful with what to choose based off taste. I got the soup with rice noodles and cabbage. Awesome!
Quality ingredients and friendly staff. Worth checking out!
Discovered this place via Ubereats and all I can say is WOW! Everything was truly delicious. The gua bao were a favorite - tons of flavor and texture. Also loved the pork bao, which had a really tasty and different finish on them. The rice bowls are HUGE, with tons of fresh toppings. Theres no way you could be hungry after one! Really happy we found this place - I think weve got a new favorite!
Such great flavors. Curry Lover dish was fantastic an on point! Pork bun is like a banh bao with a fried outside layer with sprinkled sriracha. Fast service, friendly staff, clean and cute atmosphere. I will be coming back! Thank you!!!
Food was amazing! The fact I can choose what goes on my bowl was great. The male staff was super friendly and hands down, amazing food for a college student
got the build your own bowl of rice. spoon sauce is spicey, but pretty good. My boyfriend got the pad thai, but he thought it was only okay. bathroom was out of order so that was unfortunate. decent portion for 10$ bowl or noodle. it is worth a try if you are on the college campus and hungry, but its nothing super fancy. if you dont normally cook your asain food, it probably tastes pretty good to you.
So good!
The curries are excellent and all the ingredients taste fresh.
See pictures
Really good food and great service! I eat here regularly.
Realy tasty and fun concept.
This was sooo great! It was legit the best looking takeout I ve ever seen and I m a chef.
Refreshing to get authentic Asian cuisine the way you like it ( not the Americanized version). Great food , great atmosphere and great location .
Excellent customer service! They go ABOVE AMD BEYOND!! They genuinely care about the quality of their food and their guests satisfaction!!
Very delicious and decently priced.
Delicious. Very flavorful and well priced too!
This place is incredible!!!
The food is good and reasonably priced for what they serve.
customizable options, reasonable prices, and friendly staff
Great flavors, excellent food. Found by chance being in the area. Now will be one of our go to spots for Thai food!
Absolutely delicious and amazing customer service!
Very delicious!! 1st time trying this place. Well be back!
Super kind staff and tasty food. honestly delightful experience
Food with super tasty and they use really fresh ingredients
Spoon tastes amazing! I would heavily recommend going there. The food is worth the price, you get so much food. Be warned, the food is spicy. But balanced extremely well and you can determine what you want on it!
This food is so delicious . . . I am addicted!
absolutely fantastic place
Not sure how this place gets such high rating. Food was decent but they need way more ingredients in their noodles and bowls. Tbh thought food was okay but by no way standout.
I ve had the food from here twice now. The first time I had the pork belly ramen which was great! I ordered takeout tonight and I got the street ramen. It was literally too spicy to eat. I got maybe 3 small bites in before I was crying because the spice was too much to handle; I grew up eating TONS of spicy food but this was just awful and I had to find something else for dinner which was really disappointing.
Honestly, for the price its good. You will pay like $16-$17 for the same pad thai at most other places, especially the carytown spots
Food is amazing, Flavorful, and worth every penny.
Quick and delicious
Just ordered for myself tonight, but Ive delivered for spoon countless times when I work grubhub. They have been one of the nicest restaurants in richmond Ive worked with and are wicked fast. I ordered the lo main with shrimp and it was so fresh and tasty, plus the milk tea with boba was insanely good. They earned my patronage before I even ordered from them since I respect a restaurant who respects delivery drivers i will be back
Great flavor. Hidden gem in the city . Authentic flavors and friendly services
Not very expensive, but high quality food with a good flavor. Will be back.
