Really great place to eat, highly recommended. The pastrami and sauerkraut was amazing, and I also greatly enjoyed their whisky sour, although it was a bit small for the price. I m starting to be hard of hearing, so the loud music made it a bit hard to hear, thus 4 stars for atmosphere, but I m sure it would be a 6 out of 5 stars for younger patrons.

I could swim in their Parmesan ranch! I love that they integrate their mocktails with the cocktail menu - very Richmond.

Wow! What a great restaurant! Not only was the food delicious (seriously.... try the brussel sprouts).... the entire staff was outstanding! I live in Las Vegas and was in Richmond for the Marathon/ Nov 16th. We were a large party of 16 and they were incredibly attentive! I want to acknowledge three people: Frank/ Manager; Gus & Stephanie/ waiters. Without these three people ... this trip wouldnt have be as memorable! I consider Las Vegas hospitality and restaurants are held in the highest form of service. Secret Sandwich Society can be as successful in Vegas and hang with the big boys!! Severely underwhelmed. I only had one sandwich and I wish I had more data for a review. I had a roast beef with bacon on a baguette. It mostly tasted like sauce and onion. Bread was bland. 3/4 of the way through I saw there was bacon on it. Didn t taste it at all. The fries were cold and made in oil that had t been cleaned in a while (I.e. soggy). There were many people here and the salads look good. Maybe worth a try but I bet there s something better. Subway had more flavor.

Our server Micheal black male couldn t take our order because he was busy but before hand was just standing around and talking. After he told us to wait when we asked to order he went to check up on tables, talk to co workers but would look at us and go help the 2 host to set up a table behind us. You don t need 3 people to clean a table learn how to consolidate.

I emailed two weeks in advance to ask if theyd be open the evening before Thanksgiving. They responded and said yes they would be open but closed Thanksgiving Day. We were very disappointed when we pulled up and they were closed.

For all my Coca-cola lovers: this place has the best Coke you ll ever drink. The syrup to carbonation ratio is spot on. The food was excellent and the customer service was great!

Great food. Just keep in mind that it is super small portions. A little pricey for the portion sizes, but the food is really good. Vegetarian options: Quite a few vegan and vegetarian options. I would call prior to going because they were out of the eggplant when we got there.

I had the Kennedy and was not impressed by it the Frys were good. Service was excellent the staff are very friendly and really made the experience well worth going.

It looks like a fancy high end bar but serves pretty good sandwiches. The menu is small and the food was good but not great. They offer a range of sauces that sound like theyre going to be cool and theyre pretty normal. They do have a fancy bar and the drink menu looked super cool. I ordered the Eisenhower. It was supposed to be served on a toasted baguette. I came on Italian loaf and it was not toasted. It was severely soggy. I do not recommend. I couldn t pick it up without falling apart.

The burgers were delicious. They have a good list of options to choose from. I got a spicy one with jalepeno. I highly recommend getting the fries with pimento cheese on them!! If you are not from the south and have never tried pimento cheese, you simply must. Service was great. Mixed drinks are pricey.

We came in with high hopes but unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked, and to make it worse, a few fries were randomly mixed in. When my chicken sandwich arrived, everything was cold and tasted off. I took a bite of the fries and had to spit them out, and the same thing happened with the sandwich. It honestly reminded me of something you d pull out of the trash. We were really let down by the quality of the food.

This was the most mid sandwich Ive had in years. The chicken not seasoned. It came out fast but still not piping hot. The roll was meh. The fries were room temp. They charge 16 dollars a sandwich and I was still hungry afterwards. I felt like I just ate at some random restaurant at the airport.

So far, it s all been delicious. Today was no different . But the confusion I caused when I asked for an over medium egg on to my fries

I was in as part of group of 8. Waiter came over promptly. Introduced himself and let us know about the daily specials. We all ordered. There wasnt a single complaint amongst us. If im ever back in Richmond, va I will stop back in

I wanted to share my dissatisfaction with my dining experience. I ordered a spicy margarita. The drink was. . . fine. Not great but okay. When I received the bill, the server had added a 3 dollar up charge for a premium tequila. Really? I never asked for a premium tequila. This brought the price of my drink to $19. Absolutely ridiculous. Second, I asked for hot sauce. They said there are two kinds and I said, could I have both? Both were brought to me in little side containers. I used about 1% of the hot sauce. The server added two (2) additional charges of $.75 for each hot sauce. Again, REALLY? I was so disappointed by this incident that I will likely not return to your restaurant. These petty additions may add up to help the bottom line, but in the end, I think it works against you as you have lost a customer.

Van Buren was good, Washington and Hoover were really good, and the meat on the Roosevelt was a bit dry (but she didnt order the sauce with it, which would have helped). Chips were not good, go with fries instead.

We ordered the Rosevelt and the server told us that they were out of the horseradish mayo, but we could pick a different one. So she recommended the roasted garlic mayo which she called the rgm. So we said fine. Two sandwiches we ordered were ok. I had the Hoover. It was moist, but flavorless. Nothing secret society about it. Just your average diner quality. However, they charged $.75 for the mayo sub even when they ran out of the one the sandwich comes with. That s very deceptive. I wouldn t go there again since it s nothing special.

Went to Secret Sandwich Society before our show at The National. Drinks were great. Hubs had an ale and sour. I had the Mule and the Berry Shrub (?) ... The latter is very reminiscent of kombucha, but amazing nonetheless. Our dinner was incredible! Hubs said it was hands down the best sandwich hes ever had (a roast beef au jus special)! Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive (without being annoying). Will definitely return!

It should be kept a secret. My pastrami was hard and resembled the texture of turkey bacon. Pimento fries used low quality pimento similar to targets brand.

Not celiac or allergy safe. The kitchen put crispy onions on my sandwich even when I asked for none and flagged my gluten allergy. (Celiac disease). I ate the sandwich and asked for a 50% discount because of it. They only gave me 15% off ($2.50) which I thought was super unfair. They said they were unable to offer me more. This establishment doesn t respect allergies and the consequences of them. I have to spend my money on digestive doctors because of establishments like these that don t care enough.

This was a cool place to eat downtown, I had lunch with my wife there on a work day. The food is amazing and inventive, go on a nice weather day and sit outside!

Great burgers best in richmond

$70 for a $40 meal and that wasn t even with desert or appetizers. Chips weren t crisp and the sandwiches were mediocre. Atmosphere was alright, but the service was subpar. Won t be coming back.

Busy eatery with lots of enjoy. Food has been excellent and same quality one week later, 4 months later, and even one year later. Close to hotels. Burgers are best, but salads, then sandwiches (ranked in order) are delicious as well.

I think this is my new favorite restaurant of all time. I am absolutely blown away. I would come back to Richmond just for these pies.

Okay. The service was great. The atmosphere was okay, but very loud. The place is more of a bar atmosphere than a sandwich shop. The food was just okay. I expected for the food to be better for the price. However, the pickles were really good.

The cocktails are fantastic. The pimento fires are great. The truffle fries are amazing. The burger was overdone when I asked for some pink. The pickles tasted off. This place is ok but not a 17 dollar burger good. Get a drink and fries. Maybe I made a mistake by getting a burger and not a sandwich. Maybe Ill give it another shot if Im in the area but Im not going out of my way again. Get the elderflower cocktail.

Sandwiches and burgers for my family were fine but I won t rave about them. On a Wednesday night nearby street parking was easy enough.

Ok now Im not kidding - this is the most incredible sandwich I have ever had. This is ingenious. Imaginative. Quality. Better than the last. Make sure you ask the staff what you should try. My suggestion - get one of everything and share it. Each sandwich has its own personality. It will be worth it. Im telling you!!!

I had a sandwich at the Fayetteville WV location more than a decade ago and Ive been thinking about it ever since. Finally got the chance to stop in at the Richmond location yesterday and it was the same amazing sandwich from all those years ago. Get the Hoover, itll change your life.

Only been here the last few times Ive been in town to see a concert/show-- theyre conveniently close to the venues, sandwiches are tasty, cant really go wrong... and theres still more items on the menu Id like to try, so will probably come back even more

I LOVE SSS. Ive only tried the Churchill because Im vegetarian and the last time I went they were out of eggplant, but I aint even mad, its so yummy. The chips are nice and thick cut and the brussels are super yummy. Definitely one of my favorite sandwich spots in RVA!

A neat looking interior with a presidential and first Lady themed menu. Sandwiches were good, the Parmesean Truffle fries are not worth the up charge. Staff is very friendly, you could be left waiting, food does come out quickly (this was during Sunday lunch).

Ordered my burger rare abs it came out well done, no pink whatsoever. Gluten free cookies were so dry they might as well have been scones. Atmosphere was the same boring hipster restaurant youve been to a million times, not bad but incredibly boring. Cocktails were pretty good albeit over priced. Wont be back here next time I visit richmond.

Fantastic sammy! On advice of the bartender I had the Truman plus bacon. Amazing! And the homemade pickles are awesome! Nice selection of beers on tap (I had a peach Belgian Tripel). Food came out so fast it caught me off guard. Would definitely recommend.

The food is probably good, but I wouldnt know. Went in Sunday afternoon before a concert. It was full, but nobody was waiting. The hostess asks how many, and I say two, as my 12 year old daughter was with me. She says, Just a minute and goes to check a table. While shes doing that, a group of four comes in. And I watch her think it over, realizing she can seat a four-top more efficiently. She then takes my name, tells me it will be just another couple of minutes, and seats the group that came in behind me. If shed asked me, I wouldve said, Sure, go ahead. If they wouldve been doing that already when I came in, fine. But do me like that and expect me to take it on the chin...

I stopped in here during a busy convention time for lunch later in the afternoon. I sat at the bar and was taken care of by the attentive bar tender. I don t remember his name but he was great. I ordered the Truman with truffle fries. The food was good but I m not sure I d order it again. It didn t make me think about it later if you know what I mean. I guess I had high expectations from a place with this name. I would visit again and see if there s something I missed.

This place has a cool vibe. Lots of business lunches and plenty of young vibrant crowd. The name of the restaurant, location is just perfect.

Decent atmosphere. But overpriced, and the staff were rude and inattentive. Hostess was especially rude, and made a point to not allow us to sit in a booth because our party of 4 was too small, then allowed a party of 3 to sit there. The restaurant was almost empty at the time. Also spend $110 for a party of 4 when 2 of us split a sandwich. Additionally prices are not posted on the menu which gives you a big surprise when you get the check. Also, was plenty of staff, but mostly standing around talking and looking at their phones. Had to ask the bartender to refill our drinks because server was nowhere to be found.

The food is overall really great. Love the brussels and pimento fries. We ve ordered pickup a few times and the vegan burger is great too. Unfortunately our first dining-in experience left much to be desired. It started off well but when my burger came the bread was so burnt, it wasn t inedible. No prob. I just asked for a new bun. However, it took so long to get a new bun, my wife had already finished eating and I still continued to wait. They said they were sorry for the wait and said they d comp the bill without me saying anything. Ok, cool! When I got the bill (which was a lot more lengthy waiting) it was a whole $3 off. This did not feel remotely sufficient enough to counteract the negative experience. I wasn t going write a review but there was a kicker. A staff person started to vacuum near us and I thought, oh maybe something spilled again no biggie. But then they decided to vacuum the other carpet right beside us. It was loud and I could smell the vacuum. I felt like I was in a Wendy s at 11pm, rather than a nice date night with my wife, spending $70. First timer!!! From the time I walked in the host were kind and accommodating! I sat at the bar for drinks and to go food, Emily was phenomenal!! Great Bloody Mary and great memory for my order! Everything came out correct and delicious! I def will be back!!!

I honestly dont get the hype about this place. Although it was crowded, we were seated within 10min which was nice. The Brussels sprouts and pimento cheese fries were decent. We had the fish sandwich (good), Kennedy (their version of a cuban which was just OK), the Timberwolf (dry with overly-fried onion straws) and the kids chicken tenders (burnt chicken breast cut into pieces). The fries were hot and crispy which I appreciated. But the rest of it was just OK. Overall rating - Eh...

Went for the first time. Ordered roasted brussel sprouts to start - usually love them - these were not that good. Sandwiches were dry and not all that tasty. The potato bread was not fresh and they had hardly any mayo on them. So we asked for some extra. They charged us 75 cents for one very small cup of mayo!! Absurd!! Never got any silverware until we need a knife to spread the mayo. Will ever go back.

The Rose Mary is amazing, the consistency of the red peppers perfectly matched the cheese and turkey, not to mention the flavor was bomb. Our server was attentive and made sure my water was refilled timely, the atmosphere was calm. The Brussels sprouts with lemon and blue cheese were exceptional, definitely a unique flavor combination. I ll definitely be coming back here!

Awesome food. Excellent service. We arrived at 12:15 on a Sunday and the place was packed. We were quoted 20 to 25 minutes for a table and were seated in 10. I had the Dynamo Burger it was awesome. This is my new go to place when Im in Richmond VA. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free options. Parking: All sorts of parking in the area. None of it was free.

We were on a long trip on I-95, and decided on lunch an hour earlier than usual because you just CANT miss an opportunity to eat here! Amazing food and service, and so original and fun.

Its just on the loud size reason for the stars. The food is beyond delectable - every bite is delicious!!! Scrumptious and tasty you lick yo fingers and question whether youre gonna like up all the droppings and eat the container it comes in. The place is packed so service might be slow in getting your food. But, besides that the portions could be a little bigger. Especially when it comes to sides. Otherwise its a Heavenly experience and I need to taste soo much more of their menu.

This place is awesome! Got the Lady Bird and it was delicious. Glad it was right around corner from Hilton we were staying at. Got a cool shirt also while there. Tried going for lunch and it was packed. Went back at 6pm and it was packed again but we were seated pretty quick. They got a good thing going there. Didn t try anything on the drink menu but they looked like they had some good stuff. Oh. Their homemade pickles are great also!

First off the customer service is great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was terrific. Now the food. The brussel sprouts with the balsamic glaze are like healthy little nuggets of goodness. The French fries? Delicious Now the burger, it was decent. I would say there was nothing special about it. I asked for pink and got more of medium. It could have used some salt and pepper. The size of the meat to the size of the bun didnt really match. So it was less meat and more bun.

I had so much fun ordering the unique sandwiches here. The staff was also very kind and informative.

I went with my friend and my brother, who has a seeing-eyed dog. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious. The homemade pickles were phenomenal and the homemade chips were excellent!

This place was so so good. Visited during galaxycon. The crispy brussel sprouts with balsamic and hot honey were next level good. And the Adams sandwich with pork and pimento cheese was off the chain delicious. Great meal and ambience.

The General was a great burger. Definitely recommend getting the Parmesan truffle fries too Vegetarian options: Vegetarian sandwich options and Beyond beef option for each burger

Ingredients were fresh and food was tasty, but our enjoyment was marred by the takeout time. We ordered three sandwiches and a dessert. The host promised 25 mins, it took twice the time. A guy came in around the same time as me, he had his lunch in the restaurant and left 5 mins before I got my takeout order. Out of the two sandwich boxes, only one was filled with potato chips and pickles. If takeout is not the kitchen s priority, then don t offer it.

Great service and good food we had the Timberwolf burger which was tasty. I also tried the sea shanty cocktail which was exactly as the menu described a nice sweet and sour exotic taste loved the description of everything on menu and our server was also very helpful with recommendations. The wings are good too we got the honey buffalo hot flavor.

If you are on a schedule do not order food here and expect it to be ready on time. Either that or order your food an extra 45 mins ahead of what you think you should. Ordered 3 sandwiches, thats it. Watching people come in and sit at a table after waiting for a table, order and get their food. This is terrible service.

Food was amazing nothing quite like it as far as an upscale sandwich shop in the city, atmosphere was fantastic, service was good as well

The food is excellent but you will definitely have to wait to get food and or to be seated. Called to place order 10 minutes prior to arriving, they said it should be ready in 30 minutes, arrived and asked them about my order. They had to go to the back several times to check if the order was ready. While waiting, I was able to go to the bathroom; bathroom was nice. I also, saw a couple leaving and I heard him tell the hostesses that the food was really good. I also heard hostesses tell people coming in that it would be a 25 to 30 minute wait time to be seated and then minutes later, they told others that it will be 15 to 20 minutes before they could be seated. It seems as though you give them your name and mobile wireless phone number and they will text you when your table is ready.

This place was pretty hoppin on a holiday Monday evening around 6:00. There was about a 20-minute wait to be seated, perhaps because nothing else closeby was open. Our server was nice enough, but seemed to be unable to remember to bring us our drinks. By the time our second round of cocktails arrived, we were all done eating and ready to leave, so we had to chug and go. Wed actually lost interest in the drinks by then, but for around $15 each, we werent going to leave them sitting on the table. Sandwiches are reasonably priced, and if we werent drinking, we would have only spent about $60+tip at a table of four. A couple of the sandwiches were rather hastily assembled with very little care (all of the stuff on one side of the bread, sauce not spread evenly, etc.) We will return if were in the area, but not going out of our way to go back.
