We've been here a couple times and it's been really good, but today it seems like a totally different experience. First, the bandeja paisa was a bit cramped in a smaller plate, nothing wrong with that but the flavor of the food was not great, it was mostly plain... The beef, which before had shined for its delicious seasoning, was very plain. My egg had to be cooked again (sunny side up but the white was uncooked around the yolk). The amount of beans was small, under the proteins it was almost entirely rice. We ordered some hot tea... It was nothing I expected. In general this place looks great but quality has been diminishing. Oh I forgot, they have a 15% gratuity for "parties of 1 or more", and also 3% charge for credit card use.
Visiting from Texas and stopped by this location. The building itself draws your attention. The food was amazing. The hero was delicious from the first bite through to the end. Very good service and friendly. I'm really excited I got the chance to eat here.
The place is amazing it brings you back to the 90's New York city. Me being a foodie and Hispanic i have tried 100's of Spanish food places, to me food was ok. Service was really good.
I ordered from here on Uber Eats… I did not expect this EXTREME high quality food!!! I’m actually at a loss for words and if you ask my wife, that’s impossible! I really don’t know what to say. Amazing food!
My wife and I split the Cuban sandwich with fries which had delicious roasted pork, Swiss cheese, ham and pickles on toasted Cuban bread. We had crispy fried yuca as an appetizer and fried sweet plantains as a side. To top it off we had tres leches, a sweet moist cake sitting in sweetened condensed topped with whipped cream. We ate all we could, then took the rest home for our next meal. My wife’s Cuban and said it was good authentic Cuban! The Latin music was fun and the decor is festive! Indoor and outdoor seating as well.
We stopped in for my Mom’s birthday and wanted to try a few items. The cuban sandwich was AMAZZZZZING! The drinks were really creative and the vibe/decor brings a NY girl back to NY. Side note…that one lady who commented ya’ll didn’t have puerto rican food should have actually read the menu where it CLEARLY has dishes from other latin kitchen’s. Even my Mom knew this wasn’t all PR food..we are from PR and had 0 complaints. And keyboard warrior would be right..as she gives a lot of reviews it seems lol.
As a Puertrican I was looking for a Puerto Rican restaurant in the Richmond VA area and as I walked in it appeared to be a Puerto rican restaurant but as soon as you interact with the server you'll realize there's not a drop of Puerto Rican blood there. As I was going through there menu I got more skeptical. I ordered Chicharrones de Pollo, arroz con gandules, tostones and what was supposed to be a lettuce and tomato salad. The chicharrones had no chicharon the rice was more red and green peppers than anything else and what was supposed to be a lettuce and tomato salad was lettuce and Pico de gallo. And that mofongo my husband ordered he also told me definitely not made by the hands of a Puerto Rican. I request you stop claiming to be Puerto Rican because you are not. By your accent and cooking I realize you are Venezuelan with Mexican. If you want I can teach you how to cook real Puerto Rican food.
Went here for lunch with family on a whim when we were in RVA for the day. Definitely a good last minute choice! Everyone enjoyed what they got - I ordered the chorizo biscuits and gravy. Huge portions and pretty good for the $$. The coffee was good, as well.
Anyone who says anything bad about this place is just unpleased with themselves. And the fact the management has the cajonés to defend thselves against the hate people spew is inspiring. Now the food? Fantastic . Absolutely wonderful. Big drinks. Big portions. It was HOT food that I couldnt finish it all. My lady and I loved it. I 10/10 would recommend comming here. The only downfall is it isnt bigger. I bet this place gets absolutely slammed in peak hours for anyone that recognizes its worth. Id leave more stars if I could. Photo-Ropa viejas
Walked in not welcomed. I understood immediately. I am from NY, Everybody go to Bodegas. Here they like milk Custies
I do not understand if it is Latin food does not have even 10% of the Latin flavor that Puerto Rico food should bring, Colombian should look for a cook to prepare the traditional food of each country
The service - excellent and personal. The food, come on, just so good. Can I tell you what thrilled me? They gave me a bowl of melted, salted butter. I dipped my plantains, my toast, my biscuits, heck I d dip my body in it. Why doesn t every restaurant do this?!
I visited the restaurant approximately 3 years ago, ordered a drink and some food. I had very good memories of the food. Today I returned and the taste of the food left a lot to be desired... I regret having gone.
The atmosphere here is incredibly chill and the food is comforting. Will definitely be back the next time Im in Richmond.
Wondering if the place is still in business? They don t answer the phone and haven t posted anything in their socials in weeks.
Great service
Tasty, Delicious Food, Excellent customer Service.
Colorful, games, food, good strong drinks, nice enough staff, ample seating. Looking forward to coming here next time Im in Richmond. Food was anazing, too and reasonably priced.
Their cocktails are delicious and strong! This will definitely be a place a visit whenever I visit Richmond moving forward.
Real and authentic mix of cuisine from 2-3 different Latin cultures. Their dishes never cease to satisfy that hunger from rice and beans to their perfect Cubano sandwiches. Simply amazing.
BEST FOOD EVER
I ordered through Uber eats. Was looking forward to some Latin Caribbean food ... I got my order. Discovered that my chuletas can can was spoiled... There is no way whoever cooked this did not notice the meat past... The smell was horrible on it. Took a few bites before it made contact with my nose. Luckily no food poisoning. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to my experience at this place
Ordered Chicharron Mofongo and arepas throught ubereats. The mofongo was delicious and the arepas were good and cheesy.
I ordered a chicken fried empanada. Instead I got some expired beef. When I asked for another to be made they said these were pre made and preheated. I dont know about you but when I pay to eat a resteraunt. I want fresh food. Not expired reheated bs They wouldnt give me a refund or credit. Wont be going back.
I went here for lunch today for the first time and WOW! I was blown away. Very authentic! Big portions! I also got a piece of flan to take home and I have to say, it is the BEST flan I ve ever had in my entire life.
I have to say I absolutely love the food coming out this small kitchen and the service is very pleasant, but there is a reason for the low rating and that is all the extra charges on your bill. 7.5% City and 6% State Sales taxes I can almost except, but the additional (15.0%) Service Charge is ridiculous. Service charge for what? I pay in cash. I would probably visit a lot more often it it wasnt for the feeling of being robbed. Do better...
Just updated this review because this establishment charges a 15% gratuity even on 1 guest but does not let the patron know. So yes I double tipped not the end of the world but still not cool. One of the best places in Richmond everything is delicious. I love their empanadas!
French toast meal was pretty great. Sides were great as well but the piece of ham was entirely too greasy. Staff was polite when I came to pickup.
Authentic food! Delicious. A real treat. Awesome ambiance.
The owner s responses to reviews left here completely turned me off from ordering from them today. Horrible, combative customer service.
I wanted to like it, but the quality didnt match the high price, and the service was borderline rude.
I absolutely love this place food and drinks are always on point. And the service is like no other no matter how busy you still feel welcomed
Love this place, food delicious every time! This past time the Cuban had more of a central American Latin taste i.e. more cumin and chili seasoning than Cuban taste i.e. more garlicky less cumin and chili. Love their drink selections!
Been here in the past and had such a great experience, but has gone so down hill since then. Tried to order 3 separate items on the menu and the said they werent available. Then my sister ended up ordering the ropa vejia and everything on the plate was reheated/ nothing was fresh. Litteraly came out 3 min after we ordered it. Just really disappointed in how far this place has fallen. Used to be so good but not anymore.
I love the NY vibe & all but, those were not sabrett hot dogs. The mixed drinks are on point. The only thing missing was a cat laying on the bread.
They charge me 15% tip on my bill and I left 12.00 tip cash they need to let people know other than that every thing was fine
Not the best burger trust me
Cuban sandwich was ~$14 a year or so ago and was a great deal for the huge sandwich you get. I just checked the menu online and was surprised to see the price for sandwiches increased to $23. That s just wild.
Once again I m back at this amazing place. The Ropa Vieja was amazing and the Lechón is the best I ve had.
The Big Bodega. Worst breakfast ever. Cold potatoes. Overcooked low quality sausage, burnt eggs, service lacked. They added a %15 charge to the meal. I would not recommend for breakfast at all. Negative stars.
Good food and very good atmosphere Parking: Its hard to find parking nearby, youll have to walk 2 blocks.
Great food, service, and atmosphere.
Had the chopped cheese and most of the bun was covered in ketchup and mayo. This makes it near impossible to eat without covering your hands and face with sauce and essentially defeats the purpose of a bodega sandwich. The cheese was lightly melted on top which also ruins one of the best parts of a chopped cheese - the beef/cheese meltyness. Its definitely a neat place and maybe the other good is the way to go.
Friendly staff and amazing food and drinks.
Excellent meals, very abundant, good service
If I could give more stars then I would, this place is amazing and I m from Texas where you d think they d have amazing food like La Bodega but not even close. Coming here and having their food is like I m with my mom and she had made food for me like any other day. The portions are huge and well worth the price, typically am able to have it for lunch and dinner, if I don t finish it all at once. The atmosphere is amazing and so is the people. They re very friendly and welcoming. I will absolutely be making this my new favorite place to eat. El Cubano is my all time favorite. Never had an amazing Cuban sandwich.
Saturday 03/29/2024 11:15am was my first and not last visit to this gem that is in my backyard. I visited with my 4 kids. The day was amazing to sit outside. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros... that were AMAZING!!! I was reading a few days before that they were mentioned in the Richmond Times... I had no attentions on visiting this past weekend but I did. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for filling good eats. The staff was very attentive and food came out at a timely manner. I will be visiting again in the near future Parking: street parking
This place is extremely affordable. I ate 3 times from the chuleta can can and my mom ate from the bandeja paisa 3 times as well, both plates are 20 something dollars each. Now, I ordered from Ubereats so I am keeping that in mind when it comes to my review. I personally thought that the food was authentic and tasted just as good as any venezuelan/colombian place I came across while living in Miami. So I highly recommend any Colombian or Venezuelan to try this place out, I am neither but still appreciated it since I grew up around it and am latina. The maduros (sweet plantain) were perfect, the pork chop portion of the can can was a little dry but still great, and I wish there was some more bacalao in the bacalao fritters. I will definitely try this place again in person. Its much better than other authentic latino restaurants in the area.
I when there today and order 3 order of empanadas and two order of yuca empanadas at puerto rican style the yuca frita es not fresh and hard to eat,the empanadas of chese and Meat it have cheese but not meat?? Anyway I ende pay $$55 .00 - $27 for 3 order of empanadas,12 + x2 order of yucas City .state tax.+ food tax.then 15% tips for service .total 55 $$is craisy NEVER MORE THEY STEELING THE COSTUMER !! LADRONES..!!!
Cute place! I love Cuban and Puerto Rican food so figured this is a good spot. The food was good, but did lack a little flavor. I had full intention, eating it later, as the portions are huge! I took it to go plate. 24 hours after eating at this place, I have horrible stomach pain and have been on the toilet for two hours! I had the pernil, and my only guess is that because it has to be slow cooked for hours that the reheating process or storage was not sufficient enough and has caused food poisoning. Miserable! Sucks because I would go back if I hadnt been sick after
Delicious food, generous portions
I just ate there, we left everything, my husbands mojarra was black and all the food was tasteless The worst thing was, we paid 80 dollars to not eat anything because everything was so bad I dont recommend it
So much food on my plate. Very good. Drinks were good. Will be back.
I enjoyed this place. Lots of choices on their menu to choose from. The rice for me was missing flavor, the texture was on point and the color was great but no flavor. We will be back as Im interested in trying more out of their menu, we did not have a lot of time for dessert and I want to try it. Felt like home I was born in Puerto Rico but raised in Brooklyn NY. Its a must try.
Excellent food, friendly service, charming place. If I m ever having dinner in Richmond again, I ll be happy to return.
Terrible place.
Food was delicious, service was fantastic!! A super cool atmosphere that will happily accommodate a quick bite on the go or sitting with friends to enjoy the generous portions of deliciousness!
Delicious empanadas, arepas and ribs, warm service and the place is very nice
Very cool little spot. I stopped for a quick lunch while passing through Richmond. The empanadas and mojito were so good that I ordered my dinner to go. I look forward to eating Pineapple Pork for dinner. If only, I could have another mojito with my dinner. I highly recommend La Bodega Latin Kitchen.
I love this place. The food is amazing. The portions are incredible. The service is definitely 5 star.
Nope! Huge NO! As soon as we arrived, we waited over 15 minutes for a waitress, even though there werent many people. We ordered 2 plates (arepas) 1 horchata, water without ice, although the waitress brought it with ice. The food was weak, as if reheated, stuffed with meat and cheese, but there was almost no meat at all. The best part of all the food and drink was the flower on the plate. When the waitress brought the bill it was $30 for 2 arepas, horciate. Shocking price! When I looked at the bill, I noticed that a tip of 15% of the final amount was automatically added. It should not be like that! There was no such information anywhere before the order. Plus, they charged $3 for card payments and wanted an extra tip! I do not recommend!
Amazing food! My family and I stopped by and found some very delicious food. Everything made was simple and tasty, rather than being changed and over/underspiced. Definitely recommend to anyone to experience some great Latin food.
Good evening: On my New Year s Day ( 1/1/23) travels through Richmond I stopped by La Bodega. A very nice hidden gem around the corner from the Broad Street Train Station. (BTW also take a stride inside the train station) Their tostones were on the spot. Being a Dominican sometimes it is hard to find the crunchy tostones. La Bodega s tostones were great. I will definitely be back. Please put it on your list while in Richmond. Jose
We ordered a take out order at lunch. The place has a very creative decoration, the service was friendly, the food is delicious. Just a little pricey, two chicken breasts with sides and a coffee for $50.
The Jamaican beef Patty is absolutely delicious! Love the decor and ambiance too.
Definitely the most disgusting place I have ever been. Which I have visited in Virginia. Overheated food, poor service, todtones and bagged ripe fruits, use reused oil. and they charge a 15% mandatory tip (completely illegal) to all tables regardless of how many are there. NOT RECOMMENDED!
This crappy place should not even be called a restaurant since everything that comes out of that kitchen comes out tasteless apart from terrible service and place, since it is dirty and smells bad. For example, I ordered a dish that had a fried egg and green or black wine, but I didnt know how there could be an egg in that state. The worst place I have eaten in a long time.
Food is delicious, ropa vieja is amazing
Truly delicious. The pernil (pulled pork) might be the best I ve ever had
Wanted monfongo but they didnt have the green ones. Ordered to skirt steak, but service was solid, food was just ok!
Love it! The atmosphere is respectful! And the food is MARVELOUS! Parking: It worth paying the five bucks that s.1 mile away!
The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic! I would definitely return.
Place was a wonderful experience.
We were visiting from NC. Joanna our waitress was the bomb. Doing it all by herself. Its a tiny place. Maybe 6 tables inside. 4 outside. Service was fast. We had the grilled chicken, rice, beans and plantains. Plus the Miami Vice and the NY Trashcan cocktails.
Terrible service, the waiter only gave us the menus, he didnt even ask us what we wanted to drink. The bad thing is that we know the owner and when he is in the restaurant he serves extremely well, it is a shame that his waiters are so bad at providing service. The waiter was just paying attention to the phone.
Suave! Amazing atmosphere, bang for your buck!
A place to have some Puerto Rican food.servesa.
Tastes authentic! Loved the empanadas and guacamole
Great authentic Latin food from all over. The food is amazing and served nice, hot, and fresh. The service was amazing, and the drinks are strong! Will be coming back!
The sandwiches are huge! Great portions.
This place is a whole vibe. Awesome latin food, will need to come back and try some cocktails
Best fried whole tilapia Ive ever had.
Very small hole in the wall but HUGE portions. I had to restrain myself from wanting to inhale my food. I had ordered the Ropa Vieja, so good
Delicious and great service
Great food. Great service. Great decor....
Food is amazing. Two of my favorite dishes are their pineapple pork and the mojarra frita! They are a small spot but they have decent amount of indoor/outdoor seating.
The Pernil was so good and the queso frito with the bread *chefs kiss*, service was good too but the music they had on was even better overall 10/10 ! and they have a variety of latin food, I saw pupusas and baleadas which threw me off but props to them, it works.
Just the GOAT!
Best Cuban sandwich I ve had in Virginia. Maybe ever.
Best empanadas I ve ever had
Top tier New York style Columbian food. Make sure you try the chicharron!
I REALLY wanted to like this place... sadly, I left gravely disappointed. They had decent enough food but nothing to rave about IMO. Somewhat insulting to say theyre bringing a taste of NY to RVA. They may have brought the FOOD but left the FLAVOR back in NY. Also, they added a 15% service fee and still had suggested tips afterwards. I was by myself so I was surprised to see the +15% (which usually pops up with large parties). Its kitschy and cute but not a culinary diamond in the rough. Especially if youre expecting a specific flavor profile for some of the items on their menu.
Good, nice funky place with yummy food! Server was absolutely awesome!
Can t go wrong with anything on the menu. Even if the the food sucked, this place deserves a visit simply for the gorgeous color palette and IG worthy photo opps.
good food and drinks :) nice outdoor seating
Great food! Unhappy with their inability to make one hot dog for my toddler who hardly eats anything and instead having to get him an $11 2 hot dog meal which of course he hardly ate any of. Also the ridiculous 15% service charge which should just be included in the food prices since you need to tip on top of that anyways.
We had ropa vieja, arroz con gandules, and mofongo, and it didnt taste authentic. The food tasted like an American version, I guess. If you know your sazón, this place might be a little of a disappointment. Breakfast options looked better.
Food was good overall but we were kind surprised to have order 33 dollars worth of food and end up with a 45 dollar bill after tax, auto gratuity and service fees. Nearly 30% of our bill in the end. I would just rather know what Im paying then have a bunch added on after words.
Heads up: 15% tip added automatically to bill. The appearance and decor was pretty cool. They wanted to give a New York street feel and they accomplished that. The food and service reminded me of new york too. Did I enjoy the meal? No. The fried yuca wasnt fried enough and was lacking flavor besides the old oil taste. Regret ordering two orders at $8 each. The cubano which is the best is RVA was left half uneaten, and tasted dry. I did not leave happy and felt I had given away $60 for our family meal. The tip already added in the bill was not cool since i had to go inside multiple times to get what we needed. Like I said, felt like I was in NY again.
Amazing place to get good mexican food and drinks! try the cuban sandwich! highly recommended
Hope to be back here soon to try more dishes. I was in town for a concert and a local girl recommended this place. I had the Colombian Breakfast - desayuno calentado - but subbed out the chorizo for platanos maduros. Everything tasted authentic and reminded me of my time in Colombia . The arepa seemed pre-made, however, which just isnt anywhere near the same as a fresh arepa made by hand. Still had the proper flavor, though, but the texture was off. Service was fine and the atmosphere is great. Totally recommend
Best Colombian/Puerto Rican food in Richmond. The drinks are amazing too!
I love the aesthetics, it really does bring to mind a little bodega in New York, but that is where it ends. The food is sub par. The rice is par broiled, so it doesn t hold the flavor as well as authentic rice would. The empanadas aren t filled , more pastry than filling. The food is inconsistent, and the service is lacking. I haven t been back.
I had the Chopped Cheese, huge as heck lol. My daughter Angel enjoyed her tasty Carnitas tacos, granddaughter enjoyed her cheese pupusa eggs n home fries. Nice spot New York style all the way Maria took our orders and was nice
There is no flavor. There are no spices. The rice was parboiled. Food : 3/5
Their mojitos has me giving them a 5 star review in itself. The portion size and flavor were great! Many different drink options and the food that they had coming out of the kitchen looked great with huge portions as well. I was surprised with the very limited seating that was available inside so it can get cramped up fairly fast, few different outside seating tables available outside as well. We did try the Tres Leches Cake which was wonderful as well! Will be back again!!
Very good service but the food is terrible. At least Puerto Rican food is NOT good.
My wife & I ate here for the first time tonight. Fantastic! Im looking forward to having the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Great service, reasonable prices, plenty of outside seating, excellent people watching spot. July 2023: Was unpleasantly surprised by 15% service charge & 3% credit card surcharge. Review your receipt carefully. The tip amounts (15%, 20%, etc.) were much higher than tipping on the food & beverage total. I dont know what management is doing but its definitely not fostering customer loyalty.
Ideal location Rich in food & culture. NYC Flashback decor. Super friendly staff. My spot for my next visit to Richmond.
Wow. I had pernil, tostones, empanadas, yucca, she had roja vieja. My friends had chicharrones and a Cuban sandwich. It was way too much for four people, each plate is two meals, at least, and the flavor is incredible. My buddy s eyes rolled back when he took a bite of his Cuban sandwich and he doesn t exaggerate. My pernil was tender, the plantains were perfectly cooked. The empanadas with a red sauce, absolutely amazing and flaky. The price is excellent for the quality and amount of food. I am very sad they don t have this where I live but this is an excellent authentic Latin restaurant, I would 100% go here again when I m in town again, would try the mofongo next. It is a little busy so you have to be okay with waiting a little. We left left with a ton of leftovers. Great job, La Bodega.
Super cute place with such amazing, authentic latin food. The empanadas are so flakey and buttery, I would definitely recommend. Prices are pretty reasonable, they do add an automatic gratuity onto the check as an FYI! I ve been here many times and will continue to come! Parking: I usually park in a nearby parking lot, not much space on the street.
Food was fantastic . HUGE portions. Cafe con leche was absolutely amazing.
The outdoors was great with fantastic weather. Pernil was loaded, a little bit salty but delicious, need more quality hot sauces! Huge portions, love it!! Vegetarian options: Plantains!! Rice & beans.
A delicious restaurant with an insane atmosphere! The server hustled and bustled and it was an amazing experience. Kind service, delicious food, great music, and a fun place overall. I would recommend!!
So damn good!
I got the ropa vieja and my wife got some huge chicken sandwich. Everything was amazing. The food, the service, the prices, how quick we got our food. Everything was on point. Well definitely be going back.
I just got Grubhub from here and it was unbelievable. I got two different things and both were. The Honduran wrap and empanadas.
The food is very bad and the service is terrible, apart from the fact that the tip is required by the restaurant, which they say is a terrible experience.
Great selection of Latin Street food.
Food is amazing! Period! Been there a couple times. Tried some apps and had the Cuban. Everything was absolutely delicious. Cant wait to go back. All the people complaining about the added gratuity are nerds. It states it right on the menu. They add 15%. If they missed it thats on them. Theres a lot of restaurants doing this. Adding 15% is nothing considering all the work theyre putting in. If you dont want to add anything on top of that then dont. Honestly, that seems to be the biggest negative in the reviews. Given the fact that they deliver such great food and the fact that the portions are huge it really shouldnt matter at the end of the day. The place is super small and the people are busting their butts. They have always been super kind and again, the food is amazing. I think this place is great. Everyone should give it a try. If the automatic tipping thing is bothering you then take yourself to Applebees and get a cobb salad. Let us all know how that works out for you!
Only good vibes. My son danced and then another customer joined in. FINE ART=GRAFFITI Kid-friendliness: My child and another customer joined in and danced
I visited La Bodega because some friends had indicated they make puertorican cuisine. They are so far from what good purtorican food is. I ordered the alcapurias as a appetizer and they were salty. For the entrée I ordered mofongo which dint taste good. My friend told me it was good because he had never tried mofongo before and had no reference of what good mofongo is. This is not the place to get good genuine Puertorican food.
One of my favorite spots hands down. Good variety of food, big portions, I absolutely love it, i go as often as I can.
The drinks are the bomb. The food is very good.
Amazing, food and atmosphere among delicious drinks that represent the culture.
Fun decor, food came quickly. It was fair food, very large portions.
Food and drinks are always top notch...
Great place, flavourful food, and the best Mojitos in Richmond
Im a Puerto Rican from Brooklyn and this food was terrible empanadas looked mushy overly greasy and no flavor and the carne asada had no flavor the rice didnt even have the proper sofrito taste I wasted $48 here and Im pissed
The arroz con pollo lacked soul. You could barely taste sofrito in the dish. They shred the chicken so fine it tasted like it was boiled and then shredded so fine. I make arroz con pollo and believe me it does not taste like boiled chicken and rice. This place lacked flavor.
Get the home fries
Loved it! We came here once before not long after it first opened and it was okay, but could tell they were still working out some kinks. Was in the area and decided to stop by and everything was awesome. Will definitely bring adding this into our normal rotation of spots!
Great lil spot to enjoy good Latin food. Some foods like pupusas you can see its not really hand made like Salvadorans would make it, but its cool to have several options. Prices are a lil high for my liking, but no biggie. I recommend it.
Atmosphere is awesome in this place good food good music Parking: Construction in the area parking was tight when i went Food : 5/5 |
Really enjoyed an early dinner after a matinee show. Had mofong and daughter had Cubano sandwich. Both excellent and authentic. Big portions and reasonable price.
It s a tiny place, but huge flavors in the dish. We had a great time. The kids opted for burgers, they were inedible. Fortunately the entrees we ordered were huge and were able to share as well as bring home for lunch the next day. The mojito was served in a giant martini glass maybe six inches across. Will go again.
Its a super cute place done in a New York bodega style. Drinks are hit and miss, but the food is good, and the decor is fantastic. I like to go there for brunch and get Carne Asada, which is not a brunch meal, I understand, but it s perfect. I love the fried plantains.
This was a good small gathering spot for lunch/brunch. Not a lot of seating, but it s a nice intimate atmosphere, small bar space area to eat as well. I loved the atmosphere and decor. As for food I ordered Eloté and carne asada tacos with rice and beans. I believe the flavor was alright, it felt like a bodega taco, simple and fulfilling. I personally didn t like the cheese choice, but overall the tacos were alright. The rice did lack flavor unfortunately. I also ordered a pitcher of pineapple mimosas, accidentally spilled some of it, I do think it was slightly heavy on the ice. I found myself spilling the pitcher due to the amount of ice, but $24 for a pitcher isn t too bad.
Its different. More NY plus Puerto Rican. A good choice of food most of it meat and or fried. Good margarita pass on the agua fresca.
The truth is that this is pure seasoning... what bad food... the ribs couldnt be harder. You can tell its not fresh food.
Second time visiting La Bodega! This is my favorite spot now. The first time we came here and got two dishes under Latin Soul Food (Bandeja Paisa & Ropa Vieja) which was amazing! Very large portions! Then today we finally tried El Cubano & The Chimichurri Steak Sandwich! Very yummy and lots of flavor. The Miami Vice is my favorite go to drink and the Empanadas were delicious.
They had nothing I wanted ,never will I go again plus there in a bad area with drug addiction and gang member what a let down
Five stars! Great food, affordable, fast delivery. We order take out from here quite regularly and love everything, but our faves are the chicken empanadas and the arroz con pollo.
La Bodega Latin Kitchen was an excellent Alternative to Middle Eastern Cuisine. The Yellow Rice, Juicy Chicken, Beans, and Fried Bananas were excellent and fulfilling!
Best plating, best tasting, big menu. Opulent cocktails. Graffiti is an interesting theme, decent job with the execution. I love lady pink. However, it s odd you have photos of blasted out potties but only 1 tag and 2 stickers in the restroom
Great food in a neat little place. The Can Can was awesome!! Waitress was on point too. Highly recommend!!
Food is delicious! The best empanadas I ever had!
Ordered The Cubano sandwich. $14 seemed high for a sandwich, until it arrived. It was a struggle to even eat half. It must have weighed 1.5 pounds . Worth checking out, but seating is limited.
A little tight on space but meal was good. Did not have some of the dishes I really wanted to get. Would go back for another try.
It reminded me of the bodegas at home, I will definitely visit again.
Great atmosphere, energy, and giant servings of delicious food!
Always a great experience here. I highly recommend the horchata and the bandeja paisa. Ive been there twice this week. The staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent
It was ok, staff was nice.
Delicious
They had an incredible and upbeat environment, beautiful food and amazing hospitality. You should definitely unwind here and enjoy the locals company
Amazing experience here, cool colombian sodas, delish horchata, combined with ample portions of high quality food! The ropa meal was spectacular.
Ive loved this Dish since my visit to Colombia. La Bodega did not dissapoint!
Staff is super friendly and the food was great. This is going to be my favorite brunch spot since they serve all day breakfast!
Everything was perfectly seasoned, and I m more than pleased with the portions they give you.
Now the main reason I gave them a 1 is because of the SERVICE. The FOOD WAS amazing!!! It was a fusion of EVERY THING Hispanic/ Latino/ Latinx ...THE atmosphere gave me that UP top vibe for THAT 5 s... But the waitress was rude and ultimately the downfall!!! She had an attitude the moment we CAME IN... I have Haitian and Dominican ancestry... So I REALLY was digging the whole scene, and so was my wife... Then my WIFE soon disliked it ALL because of the WAITRESS... NEVER checked on us during the course of the meal... Spoke rudely to my WIFE when she ask her a question about the menu... So MY wife was REALLY upset the rest of our meal... Unhappy WIFE means NO tip... But guess WHAT!!! They automatically pull for gratuity 15%... So THAT means EVEN IF THE SERVICE IS trash... You STILL giving someone SOMETHING THEY dont deserve... YES we ALL work... I understand THAT people ABUSE the tip by not tipping FOR quality service... Hence, broke, cheap people!!!!! But My wife and I are NOT ONE OF THOSE people!!! To just BRINGING us the FOOD and BRINGING me the CHECK Impolitely DOES NOT constitute funds... Attitude of servitude is what WAITING tables is ALL ABOUT!!! They ARE the FIRST people THAT the customers are in contact WITH... If YOU DONT HAVE a host(ess) ... They are part of the main experience in a restaurant!!! GET better wait staff!!!
Delicious food, fun mixed drinks
Food is fantastic and you get so much for the price! Cocktail prices seem a little high but the glass was pretty big and wasn t watered down with ice so overall my boyfriend and I were extremely pleased
Excellent food and great service. Win win
Food was amazing and so was the customer service! I felt right back in N.Y.
Great find in downtown Richmond to eat and visit the nearby Poe museum! Excellent variety of Latín American dishes on the menu. (Had a hard time choosing but the waitress gave us some suggestions). We enjoyed the stewed beef and the Pineapple pork. They were huge portions you can easily get two meals from. Would definitely come back to try more items!
I enjoyed lunch with 2 other of my friends here last week. Two of us had the Cuban sandwich and the other a vegetarian dish. Our sandwiches were HUGE. Not authentically Cuban but very good nonetheless. The pulled pork on these sammys was amazing, thus making them thicker than a Cuban. These sandwiches were so large that I took half home and the next day my wife and I split the half and it was plenty enough for us both. I would like to give a 4.5 stars but that is not an option. The only disappointment was the veggie dish which consisted of beans, rice, and potatoes. Again, a large serving but WOW, thats a lot off carbs! They may have something with actual vegetables in it but our friend went with this at the servers recommendation. There are three persons that operate this establishment and they do a helluva job! Can you say multi-task? Oh, and it is quite small inside so getting a seat when its busy could be a challenge.
I love the style and decor. Everything was delicious. The Horchata was so delicious, I can t even describe the flavour but it was so good. I definitely recommend this place. When I pass through this area again I will be stopping here. Thank you!
Atmosphere was great, food was great, but the service was extremely slow. Server never checked back in on us until food was ready. Seemed to be pre-occupied with another table of regulars.
One of the best restaurants in Richmond and I dont say that lightly. The portions are huge, the servers are very sweet, and you only need two drinks. La bodega is very consistent in the food they make. Every time you go, you know exactly what to expect. The place is small but do not let a long wait deter you. Definitely, a must-try in Richmond.
Small amount of seating so we usually order to-go but always a big hit in our house. Great food, large portions, and clearly made with passion.
The food not has flavors no salt , my family ask for different sauces no has nothing Bad service / that cook really cooks very badly
The food was delicious and I felt so at home the moment I walked in. The environment was worth the visit itself, but then the food! So good. Theres something about delicous plantains, rice with pigeon peas, beautiful colors, bachata and art that just made this Ohio born Boriqua feel deeply satiated.
Food is good, portions are plentiful and the drinks are strong. Bartender lady is the best.
Excellent food.Good representation of the New York Latin food staples and they have alcapurias!!The sweet plantains we re on point. The vibe is cool and hip with the eclectic vibrancy of the city and a hint of old school new yorican flare. This will be my new favorite hang!!All around such a fun experience!Highly recommend!!
Nothing is ever horribly bad!
I was quite disappointed by the food here. The Cuban was dry, the pork tasted more like it was supposed to be to be slathered in BBQ sauce rather than what youd expect (and hope) from a Cuban. It was decent value though, around 12 dollars for sandwich and fries, but theres a lot better for just a bit more.
Somebody recommended this place for my birthday and OH MY GOSH! Im so glad I went. The food was delicious, beautiful presentation, great service, and chill vibes. Im going again to take my family.
Food is always good
