Looked online for a place to enjoy a nice lunch after walking on the Cap Trail and thought we'd try Blue Atlas. I have to say it was every bit as good as the website and reviews made it out to be. No photos but rest assured this is high quality cuisine. Everything from the cappuccino to the Mezze plate (best hummus ever- and those carrots!) to the tater tots, not to mention the sandwiches, was crafted with care. OK the kettle chips are ordinary. But the people are wonderful! My wife and I chose to eat on the patio which offers spectacular views. Honestly I am a bit baffled that I hadn't discovered this gem before today. Next time dinner!
A Perfect Date Night at Blue Atlas Blue Atlas in Richmond, Virginia, is a hidden gem that my wife and I were lucky enough to discover. Living just nearby at Artisan Hill Apartments, we decided to sneak away for a much-needed date night while grandma watched our baby girl. This spot exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with cozy yet stylish décor that set the perfect mood for the evening. We timed it perfectly for sunset, and the view was nothing short of stunning—an added bonus to the experience. But what really made the night special was the incredible service. Derek, the bartender, and Katie, our waitress, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Derek, a fellow New Yorker, sparked up great conversations that added an extra layer of comfort to the evening. Katie’s attention to detail and personable nature made us feel like we were regulars, even though it was our first time. We ordered three drinks and two appetizers, and everything was absolutely delicious. The drinks, which I’ve attached pictures of, were perfectly crafted—each one a work of art. Unfortunately, the food was so good that we dove in before even thinking to snap a photo. Every bite was memorable. If you’re in the Richmond area, especially if you live in or near Artisan Hill, Blue Atlas is a must-visit. Whether you’re looking for an intimate date night or just a place to unwind, this spot hits the mark. We’re giving it 4.99999 stars, only because, as they say, there’s always room for improvement—but honestly, it’s hard to find any fault here. We’ll definitely be back.
Stopped in with my husband in the middle of our road trip and didn’t realize we were about to have some of the best food ever!! Abby was super awesome and gave us great service. We ended up being here on the Vegan takeover night and ordered the soup, tamale, cavatelli pasta, and the pierogi. Everything was 10/10 and the utensils are MASSIVE!
The renovated school building creates a unique atmosphere that had been wonderfully updated. Great view for the outdoor seating. Our dinner group shared about 2/3 of the menu. Globally inspired small plates is a perfect description. Food/Service were excellent.
This place was an amazing experience. The food was superb, the service was super professional, and the atmosphere inviting. Every single thing I ate was a revelation.
One of my favorite restaurants in town. Have always had a great experience here. Charming ambience, set up in an old school building. When it’s not too hot you can sit on their lovely patio and see sunset. Everything was, as usual, delicious and fresh at my most recent dinner. I get the Georgian flatbread and harissa cauliflower every time. Most other dishes rotate every few months (the chaat salad fusion and Italian style roasted rockfish were so flavorful). Service was excellent - our server was attentive, well-informed, and made sure our orders were timed out perfectly so that we did not receive too many dishes at once. Love this place so much and can’t wait to come back again!
So we went to blue Atlas for happy hour, and we went for Easter brunch. It might not be fair to judge it on Easter brunch if we were just reviewing this on the basis of the happy hour we went I would’ve given it five stars let’s look at the positive first we went for a happy hour, and we had the Georgian bread which was incredible and we had this cauliflower that was yummy as can be . We really enjoyed our mixed drinks, and they did have a small discount for happy hour on the drinks. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff at night was very knowledgeable. We had such a good experience. We decided that we were gonna come back for brunch. We sat outside and it was lovely atmosphere outside, and I incredible view of the city. I did not find our waiter terribly knowledgeable and we tried to wave him down several times to get a cup of coffee but we had to ask someone else. Also even on the drip they charge you for a 2nd cup, which I think is a little crazy fair enough on a latte or cappuccino, but for drip coffee. I have to say we were very disappointed, overall by Sunday brunch on Easter. We thought the food tasted good overall and the tater tot were incredible. The Benedict was very small but tasty. The steak was tasty and my friend who had the bon Minh liked his bon Minh very much. we tried to order desserts, but they didn’t have any desserts. I’m not the biggest eater and I walked away hungry. Please be aware they also charge you with no choice a 20% service charge which the waiter did point out. I’m still hung up the that they charge me for a 2nd cup of coffee drip coffee. It was OK, I give it another try because we enjoyed our happy hour so much but Easter brunch was a big disappointment.
Tucked away in a residential neighborhood this fabulous restaurant is worth the trip. Our waitress, Meghan, was so helpful asking questions about our preferences and guiding us to dishes she thought we would enjoy. Her suggestions were outstanding. This is a wonderful restaurant to try a dish outside what you might normally order. We each sampled all the dishes we ordered. It was a lovely experience and we will be back next time we visit Richmond.
Unbelievable experience! The views out back are beautiful. Service was exceptional. Their menu changes often, but its always fantastic and exciting. Plan on ordering 2 dishes per person (portions are more for sharing, not that you HAVE to). The cocktails were made extremely well and the desserts are delicious. Parking: The parking is limited, and the spaces are pretty tight. There is street parking available as well however.
Excellent menu and choices. A must stop !!
Kid-friendliness: Nope! Recommended dishes
The food here is always very tasty, sometimes it could be hotter, I feel like there is limited staff on Sunday morning. High marks though to the front desk/barista, coffee is always great. Parking: Limited number of spots in the parking lot, but there is some street parking available too.
5 Stars Across the board. This is a Tapas style restaurant, which isn t immediately clear from their menu or website. If you want to grab dinner here on a Friday night I highly suggest making a reservation well in advance, we called a couple days ahead and they were almost fully booked. The service was impeccable, food, atmosphere, all of it was everything we hoped it would be based on recommendations and reviews we d read. The Bao Buns and Crispy Cauliflower were stand-outs as was the view from the patio. If I had any complaints it would be the lack of parking spots in the lot, but it was quick and easy to find street parking less than a block away. Definitely going to be back and tell our friends about it.
We ve been in Blue Atlas many times. This time we got a table at 8pm which was not ready when we arrived. The wait was not very long but the kitchen closes at 9pm so we didn t have the chance to order more after our initial one. They were out of everything in Americas and one dessert. The services was very slow too. It was very disappointing. The food we got was delicious, as usual.
The Breakfast burrito is awesome!!!
Very fun market atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff - food was amazing. Cant wait to return!
Absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing. Three plates fed me and my fiancee. The wine recommendation was also fabulous. 10/10 would recommend. My only feedback would be to have more of a conversation about the table youre seating folks at because I am hard of hearing and I had a harder time having a conversation at the high top - beautiful as it was.
Parking: There was limited parking bcuz lot was shared with tenants who lived in apartments in the building. Food
This was amazing. I have never experienced a meal like this. Amazing entrees and drinks.
Loved this place. Great menu and vibe
Everything was amazing from the food to the service! Easily my new favorite restaurant
The service was good, the food is international but i feel like the place is a bit overhyped if talking strictly for food. Nice view of sunset outside though
Haven t had the chance to eat here; My husband made a reservation for my birthday on January 23 for April 12, and then on March 20 it was cancelled by the restaurant due to an event buyout. A phone call and any sort of effort to rebook would have been nice instead of the restaurant just trashing our reservation for a better offer. Basic customer service goes a long way.
Delicious dinner and excellent service. every was very knowledgeable about the food and wine
Interesting setting with some nice views of the city. Excellent place for sharing small plates. Decent wine list and cocktail menu as well. Get reservations. Almost zero chance of getting a table or a seat at the bar just walking in.
Amazing, delicious food and very reasonable cost. Terrific service as well. Truly excellent in all aspects.
Always fun. Great wait staff and awesome food.
Food was very delicious, the service was good and the restaurant was nice, but the view and the atmosphere was not like I expected. Still very worth it.
A true 5 star experience, food is delicious with quality ingredients and thoughtfully crafted dishes, menu is constantly updating and there is something for everyone, people are so friendly and to reiterate, the food is absolutely delicious. Ambience is also great, very cool vibe inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The sunsets on the hill are fantastic, especially if you don t get to the city much and like a skyline view
This was a great experience! Tried food from different parts of the world, shared with friends and with great service and ambience! I definitely want to go back to explore more of their menu!
The food here was truly exceptional, as was the service and their gorgeous space. Excellent, creative flavors and good knowledgeability about gluten sensitivity. HIGHLY recommend trying the cachapas. The cocktails were good but not quite at the same level as places like Heritage or Roosevelt. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will absolutely be back!
Food was amazing. We got the Bao Buns, Harissa Cauliflower, Mussels, and Chicken Schnitzel. Everything was super tasty. The Harissa Cauliflower was an absolute MUST as long as you like spicy.
Delicious food and wide tasting menu with samples of cuisines from around the world. Great vegetarian selections. Cool wine and beer as well.
I ve eaten a lot of food in Richmond, and this is hands down my favorite dining experience I ve had in this city. Great ambiance, a wonderful outdoor area (with a view!) paired with fantastic food, and a creatively delicious drinks menu. Huge shout out to Derrick who really made the whole experience. 5 stars isn t enough. Dietary restrictions: First thing the waiter asked us is if we had any dietary restrictions or food allergies Wheelchair accessibility: Building is ADA compliant
Really good frittata the coffee was amazing. I would go back again
Overpriced Wheelchair accessibility: Did not see ramp available Food : 5/5 |
Food is all A-tier minimum. Just incredible flavor and variety. Great atmosphere that feels sophisticated but still fairly casual.
Staff was incredibly friendly and the place feels warm and welcoming. Plenty of vegan options and the staff was more than happy to accommodate our dietary requests.
Love this place! The breakfast burrito was delicious and the latte was made to perfection. Highly recommend!
Place to sit at the bar for cocktails and share small plates. India was excellent making the cocktails. Food
Went for a quick service lunch and it did not disappoint!!! Incredible views in a super unique setting. Fast service with a craft vibe! Enjoy!!!!
Went for our anniversary. Superior service! Delicious food! Beautiful setting!
Amazing experience all around. My wife and I ordered 6 dishes and they were all cooked to perfection. You can t go wrong with anything at Blue Atlas. One of the coolest dining experiences in RVA. Highly recommended.
Oh my God, this place has top tier vegan food. My wife and I got the tater tots, breakfast burrito, avocado toast, and coffees and loved each item.
Always delicious foods and amazing drinks, i love the autum ash.
>This close< to being a great place. Service is wonderful, food is pretty good, view outside is incredible, but in my opinion the renovated public school vibe works against an upscale casual place (at least for us that hated teaching lol)
Great atmosphere, better food. Stopped in for lunch with clients.
Great vegetarian selections, beautiful view, great service
Great atmosphere, the happy hour espresso Martinis were rather petite which was a surprise. It was the size of about 2 shots.
Delicious food and drink with great service to boot. Cool atmosphere and has probably one of the best places to view a sunset in Richmond.
We had an excellent dinner at Blue Atlas! I made our dinner reservations to celebrate a friends birthday, which was graciously acknowledged by dessert and a glass of champagne on the house. Besides the birthday accommodations, the dinner was delicious! Very flavorful, and came out in a timely manner. We got to sit on the patio, which I highly recommend! So beautiful and peaceful to dine surrounded by wildflowers. Finally, our waiter, Boss, was extremely kind and helpful. I would highly recommend Blue Atlas, whether you live in Richmond or are just traveling through!
Jamayra treated us really nice. The food was excellent. The sunset view was breathtaking. Thanks to all the staff we had a wonderful evening.
Favorite restaurant in Richmond. The staff is always on point, have enjoyed every dish Ive gotten there, and theyre very accommodating. Cant recommend enough. Dietary restrictions: Server always asks about any dietary restrictions before ordering. Menu well marked and full of good veggie, vegan, and GF options Parking: Not many spots in the lot, but can usually find street parking nearby Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp out front to get into the building
Love coming here! Beautiful clouds above the view today
Food was yummy but $10 for two bao is a little... yknow... staff was lovely though
Tonight was just our latest amazing dinner at Blue Atlas! It was Vegan Takeover night and we tried every dish but one as usual, the flavors were anything but boring. They were bold and surprising and our two non-vegan guests ate every last morsel and then some. The non-vegan nights are equally as extraordinary! Friendly, professional staff (Bas was out server tonight and he was great!) and just a fabulous experience!!! I love the fact that the head chef is a woman (as an aside)!
Really nice atmosphere and our server Bas was great! The style of eating here is really interesting, its like a grazing and trying multiple things situation, which is a lovely experience. Very well priced, especially considering how nice everything is. The bao buns and the doner platter especially were standout! And the mille fuille was amaaaazing.
The food, service, and atmosphere/view were all wonderful! One of the best dining out experiences I have had in a while. Only disappointing part was the tiramisu. Highly recommend.
I m surprised this place wasn t in my radar before. It was my first time walking in here and it was a great first time experience. From the host, to the waiter and then to the bartender Derek everyone was so polite. The menu was small because they just transitioned from breakfast to lunch/dinner but what I ordered was surprisingly so good! Everything was fresh and tasty. I m vegan so I ordered the vegan tofu fried bao buns and the mezze platter. To the vinegar soaked carrots, pita bread, hummus & the spicy sauce on the buns.. omg it was all so damn good! I m definitely coming back for seconds when I m off work. Also those prices were surprisingly very affordable for such fresh food choices. I would ve added pictures but the food was gone in 5 minutes. :) Vegetarian options: Some items on menu have options with vegan portions and vegetarian portions. No meat or no animal used items in certain dishes I seen on the menu Dietary restrictions: Vegan and vegetarian options all are available Parking: Reserved parking for restaurant customers
A hidden gym with a diverse menu. I was concerned about the diversity leading to lack of quality, but I was happily proven wrong.
Nice atmosphere
Fantastic tapas restaurant in a unique setting. Their mocktails are also outstanding.
Great spot for family and friends. Excellent service a tapas food selections
A perfect 5/5. Great customer service, outstanding food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely will bring back friends.
Oh WOW!!! Some of the best food we have had in YEARS!!! Love the larger than small plate concept (2 of us got 4 plus dessert). Also the globally inspired menu of which EVERY offering was phenomenal, as were their cocktails. The true topper though was Bas our server. He was amazing. Great and friendly countenance and delivery, and knowledgeable about the menu. Thank you BAS!!!
Amazing food with amazing view
Excellent staff being in a former school was very different for me one of the many unique places richmons has to offer
Came for their vegan takeover, everything was delicious, cant wait for the next vegan takeover. Unfortunately these arent regular dishes on the menu
I have never written a review in my life but with the experience I just had I felt inclined to write one. First off, I will never understand people who treat willingly paying customers like garbage. With that being said I went in to inquire about renting the space for an event when I was approached by, I assume the manager, I immediately felt like I was an inconvenience (after I had been kept waiting for almost 20 mins but that s because they had just gotten a lot of orders in a row but I would not say this place was crowded by ANY means), she just stared at me while I basically had to pry information out of her as she was giving me less than the bare minimum needed in any basic human interaction, let alone one that I would assume help your business??? Ie. I was ready to pay their event fee of ~~$1750 for a few hours and she botched the chances of that in literally the first 10 seconds of my interaction with her. It s a shame cause the place is beautiful and the menu looked enticing but have 0 desire to return after that one. God speed.
Came to Blue Atlas for an impromptu dinner with a friend, and can I just say I was blown away by my experience. I came here on a Wednesday evening with no expectations and had the most beautiful time! There was a free wine tasting in the market (which was delicious) and the wine is even available by the glass if you like it. The bao buns were other worldy and the dan dan noodles were phenomenal. I had delicious Spanish and Italian wine to drink and we even were gifted a little bubbly to celebrate my friends promotion. The service was unmatched and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to try something new!
Fav restaurant Dietary restrictions: Vegan dishes always on the menu Food : 5/5 |
Absolutely delicious! We split four dishes among three adults. Super delightful, wonderful atmosphere.
After spending the day in Richmond, my mother and I were kindly accommodated. From the moment we walked in, the service was amazing. All staff members we interacted with were incredibly polite which only further contributed to the classy atmosphere. The restaurant s theme is nicely aligned with the cuisine international vibe. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken, Pork Bao Buns, Lahmacun, and Steak Frites. All dishes were exceptional. My mother said her cocktail (the Lychee Cosmopolitan) was phenomenal. Considering my mother is not easily impressed, this was a score! Very memorable experience and I highly recommend.
Amazing, attentive service. The food is so flavorful and love the vegetarian and vegan options they offer.
OH MY GOSH! This may be the best food I have ever had! The food portions are somewhat small, but they are intended to be shared. GREAT place for a special evening. My wife and I came for our Anniversary, and it was worth every Penny. Amazing and life changing.
Easily the best meal I ve had in Richmond. We had a good 7 different tapas and they were all flawless. Not too salty or oily, and each introduced a unique, creative flavor that was delightfully satisfying.
Absolutely wonderful place to eat. Great food, service and atmosphere!! Picture is of dessert and coffee.
First time in awhile with a friend...her first. We plan to come back soon
First visit, not the last...we shared 3 dishes 2 desserts and each was delicious. Best dining experience in quite awhile.
Have had dinner here a few times and it is awesome. Finally went for breakfast and that was wonderful also. I had the best peppermint mocha and chocolate donut and an amazing breakfast burrito that had tater tots inside. Got to sit outside and enjoy the view of the city. Highly recommend!
My wife & I reserved 2 spots at the bar for dinner on New Years. Weve been to the Atlas numerous times before loving it 100% of the time. First time though at the bar for the new years special. It was spectacular. Food was beautiful & so original, wines & champagne suggested were awesome & the crew was so amazing & friendly. Thank you all for this beautiful night. We had about 8 or 10 plates (I know...whoa!) and we especially loved the short ribs ( cooked 20 hrs low heat, melted in mouth) & the oysters & the Flatbread & the pomegranate salad & .....Its our #1 fave in Richmond and well everywhere. Thank you!
Went for drinks. Loved the place. Need to go back for the food
I can t believe I haven t written a review yet I am basically a Blue Atlas ambassador. They are the best! The cocktails and small plates are so creative and delicious. I love the Georgian flatbread (fancy cheesy bread), harissa cauliflower (who knew cauliflower could be so good) and Oaxan summer (mezcal cocktail). The whole concept is spot on. They rotate the menu often so there s always a reason to go back. Their Nashville chicken is awesome too. Ooo and the carrot cake ice cream cake. And the sunset!! Time it so you can sit in the patio and watch the sun sink over the city. Can t beat it! Plus, they are part of the community and do charity events like Richmond Brunch Weekend which makes me love them extra.
Poor customer service. Food take too long to come out; some dishes not warm. Staff will gaslight you about temperature. Breanna our server horrible; terrible attitude once we informed her that we wanted all of our food put in at the same time after sitting 30 minutes without ONE dish. It was her way or no way; Very dismissive. A person whom suppose to be the manager was no better; I described my experience with the Ramen and I said: I m not concerned at this point with it, as I ve considered it a loss so it is what it is Her response: I guess it Is what it is what manager says this? she didn t even introduce herself, came to the table and said: I heard you wanted to speak to me . so 10/10 WILL not be going back and WILL not recommend. Food is mediocre AT Best.
Blue Atlas has amazing dishes that are all fusions and variations of popular world dishes. Serving sizes are perfect for sharing. The staff are all extremely friendly and happy to help.
The place somewhat gives a feel as if it wants to have an atmosphere. Maybe it does but something was certainly missing. Or maybe I m just too picky. The staff was certainly very friendly and polite.
My dining partner, and I selected Blue Atlas for an early dinner on a Friday evening. We originally made a table reservation, but were seated at a table near the entrance and elected to move to the bar Smart move! We selected the Georgian flatbread, bao buns with pork, and Hatch cheese dip with cornbread muffins. Each of the dishes was well presented and were very flavorful. We had an excellent meal. Our cocktails were excellent and the price was entirely reasonable. We will definitely return.
My wife and I went there on date night after taking a pottery class at Clayground. We did not have a reservation and had to wait a short time to get sat at the bar. While waiting the hostess was very nice and kept giving us updates and took drink orders from us. Once seated at that bar, we were greeted by Derek, the bar manager. He was very friendly even while being very busy on a Friday night. We found out that he makes all the drink recipes and tried several, all were very good. When the food came out, it was also very good and on point. Between the great service provided by Derek, great drinks and food, we definitely will return frequently.
There are not enough glowing words available to describe this excellent tapas restaurant! Everything is perfect, from the service to the setting to the food But wait! Its not at all what any other tapas restaurant is. The servings are generous and fill the plate, but you will still want to order multiple items. Each dish is from one of four continents/ locales and is wonderfully unique. It is hard to choose from such inviting and beautifully plated food. Fortunately, you are encouraged to order multiple dishes for your table, giving you the opportunity to try many different things. To recommend certain dishes is very difficult... except for the Crispy Harissa Cauliflower. Drop mic. This is so incredibly delicious; be sure and order it upon arrival! Eat dessert no matter how full you are. It is just as good as everything else on the menu. I am already dreaming of my next visit to Blue Atlas and what incredible food I will sample!
Travel and eat the world without leaving RVA. One of the best restaurant experiences Ive had. Food, service, and atmosphere were exemplary.
Blue atlas is a great restaurant set in the heart of a old school that has been renovated for apartments. Great view great cuisine great drinks highly recommended.
I really loved the food from here. These folks can really cook. The lumpia was my favorite, and my girlfriend loves the bao buns. I was a but disappointed when my server could not tell me the name of the wine that she had just upsold me, and was def overpriced. Other than that, no complaints...beautiful and cool restaurant experience with great food.
Delicious food & great service. SO good. You would think a menu that has so many different options from around the world might be over reaching, but we ordered 2 items from each section and loved them all. Cant wait to go back and enjoy a meal outside when weather allows (it was rainy and cold on the night we went). Super neat space in an old school. Yummy!!
This place is amazing, my fiancé and I went last night for the first time ever and we were happy to trust that all the foods and drinks we tried were perfect. We were set at the bar and got to talk with the bartenders and learn alittle bit more about the place as we lived across the street and didn t even realize it. I m definitely recommending anyone to go as they have varieties of food to taste from and it doesn t disappoint Vegetarian options: We were surprised with the vegetarian options Parking: Parking is limited but it s not much of a walk to park on the street
Wow just wow!!! We tried 8 things on the menu and I had 8 different mouthgasms. For sure on the top of my list of places to eat in the Richmond area. The atmosphere is something straight from a hemmingway novel. Great place!!!
Great experience, awesome chef
Came for dinner without a reservation on a Friday with my husband and enjoyed the most lovely meal. Every dish was delicious. We ordered the phyllo wrapped feta, Japanese curry, arctic char, and the steamed bao buns. The boa buns were my favorite. Ive been before for brunch and a special event afternoon tea and have never had a bad experience. This place is truly a hidden gem.
Wonderful ambiance, service was top notch, food was amazing.
Fantastic food and a great view from the patio.
I went to a catered event. Delicious brunch with quiche, ham, sausage, chicken salad, baked rolls, mixed melon salad, mimosas! Great view. Band that played was very good.
One of my favorites or possibly my favorite restaurant in Richmond. Fantastic and unique variety from what some might consider a small menu selection. The atmosphere is fantastic from the excellent southern view of the James/canals, to the mix of historic school with classy additions to the decor. As someone who typically defaults to the beer selection (which is still great) I highly recommend trying one of their house curated cocktails instead.
Great food, great view. Lots of outdoor seating.
Amazing drinks, delicious food, and hands down the nicest staff. Also - incredible views. I can t say enough good things, and a massive shoutout to Derek for going above and beyond in customer service!
Blue Atlas consistently delivers a fresh, chef-curated dining experience with a great atmosphere and view. Each time, the menu included a unique variety of dishes from multiple cuisines in tapas-sized portions. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp
service was great and the food/drinks were absolutely delicious, would recommend
Its one of the best places weve been to in Richmond. Happy Hour! Bartender is excellent, very knowledgeable. Try it, and you will not be disappointed. Get the Nashville Chicken!
Not knowing much about the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised about our experience. Different food choices and each prepared very well. Will be interested in trying to eat outside next time.
The food was delicious when it finally arrived; it was served at a proper temperature. The atmosphere is really cool, the restaurant was previously a school. The food however is very small portions that are not shareable. The staff recommends 1 person gets at least 2-3 plates, this is accurate. Food comes out at varying times, this is very frustrating for a group dinner. Our service was horrible, our waitress, Eve, met and greeted every table with a wonderful introduction & then completely dropped the ball for the duration of service time. We had to ask other staff for our water to be refilled, our drinks served, our check, the check to be split, etc. We would have ordered more food if the service was more prompt. However the management that stepped in when we were obviously not happy, were attentive to our needs & quickly attempted to recover our dissatisfaction.
Usually when restaurants try to tackle several world cuisines, they only really pull off one. Not the case at Blue Atlas. Everything is great, some things, mind-blowing (like the harissa cauliflower with fig jam!!!). You get a beautiful view of Richmond inside or out, especially during sunset. The service has been great the handful of times Ive been there. I regularly recommend this place for dinner.
Consistently great food thats beautifully plated, and friendly service. Very thankful for the thoughtful vegan options. Their Vegan Takeover Nights are spectacular. Vegetarian options: Several vegan options available on all menus
Love it here! Pleasant staff, good food, really pretty outdoor seating area.
Love the variety of menu options and plenty of vegan and gluten free food choices. The food is always amazing and the service is top notch.
Elevated food and a great view from a repurposed schoolhouse
Great place for a decaf latte late in the evening! They make a GREAT coffee! A nice selection of draft and individual cans of beer for sale. They even have cans of three NON-ALCOHOLIC beers that Ive never seen before, including an imperial ale and a porter-- not that I drink non-alcoholic but if I did I would be tempted! There are other cans including a real nice selection and variety. A lot of bottles of wines for sale too. Really nice outdoor seating with heaters and fire pits. Worth a visit, especially if youre in the neighborhood. Great view of sunsets. Dont have to be a Artisan resident to go there.
Great coffee and breakfast!
Service was great. Atmosphere was awesome. View is nice. The food was pretty good, but the plates were small. They recommend 2 per person...so ok.....we ordered 4 small plates for the two of us, and we each got 2 drinks. With taxes and tip this came to $150.00, and honestly, I was still hungry. I guess its just to expensive for my blood. For that much money I expect more than we received. Its doubtful that we come back. I just cant afford $150, and walk out still hungry.
Went for lunch on a Saturday. Atmosphere was so lovely and peaceful. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect for lunch. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, Italian sub, Korean wrap, and lamb hoagie. Hits all around! We started with the mezze platter which was phenomenal. To top it all off, we had a lovely bottle of Sancerre. Absolutely lovely meal.
Beautiful place!!! And great food and service!! My family and I love this place. :)
Wowww A+++ Definitely the best restaurant (food, service, atmosphere, drinks, view, outdoor space) in Richmond. Always amazing vegan options available.
Wonderful staff and amazing taste sensations! I felt like I traveled the world in one evening!
I went to blue atlas with couple of my family members for lunch and we had a fantastic time. We sat outside, the weather was beautiful, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was very historic. We got 2 breakfast burritos and one pesto grilled cheese and we couldn t have been more pleased with how simple yet amazing the food tasted. Can t recommend this place enough. The menu is nothing crazy but the food is worth it.
Good food and great view of the city!!!
Amazing small plates restaurant. Everything is always so delicious and changes frequently. Many vegan options and a vegan takeover night every couple of months. I feel lucky to have such an accommodating and upscale restaurant in Richmond.
A really great addition to the Richmond restaurant scene. One of the best restaurants in the area. It s located in a former elementary school so has character, and atop a hill with great views. There s an outdoor area which was great for the toddler to run around (you can also eat out there when it s not wet). We had 10 dishes for four adults + a toddler which was plenty. Our favorites were the potato chaat (an innovative take that was like a salad) and the pasta (great flavors, excellent fried artichoke). The phyllo wrapped feta was a great non-dessert dessert (with some sweet flavors from the honey) and very well balanced. Everything was great so tough to go wrong, and the service was super friendly. I also appreciated how quickly they brought out our first courses while allowing us to linger as we ate through all 10 dishes. Kid-friendliness: Great outdoor area for them to run around on grass, a walkway, or the trees. We were constantly bouncing out from our table to outside with the toddler. They have a kids menu and high chairs and the waitstaff were super friendly to him.
This place is a weekly stop. Great breakfast, dinner, and views of the city.
Doggone great but really loud! Vegetarian options: There were at least 3 options Food : 5/5 |
Our server was so engaged and excited about the food, the excitement was contagious. As always, everything was delicious. Best of all, I got to introduce two good friends to an incredible restaurant, and we had a great experience catching up while enjoying top-notch cuisine.
The food was so delicious! Small plates to share, with a variety of ethnic foods. Top quality and beautifully displayed. Vegetarian, gluten free and Vegan options. We were lucky to visit on Wine Wednesday so we had a little wine tasting before we were seated. A fun dining experience. Special thanks to the chef who prepared the steamed mussels dairy-free for me
Unexpected venue but that s part of the charm! Unique, quality selections in a setting where you can dress up or down for a beautiful lavender scented sunset.
A new find ! Highly recommend it !
I had an very filling, satisfying meal at Blue Atlas. The view from the restaurant is reason enough to visit! The food is eclectic fusion but it is incredible and and full of flavor. It s hard to pick a favorite because everything was so good but the Georgian flatbread was so decadent and delicious. Our waitress was instrumental to our enjoying the dinner and helped to guide us on our culinary journey. Vegetarian options: Lots of amazing vegetarian and vegan options.
What a wonderful experience. From the food to the service! I can not wait to go back. Courtney was our server and she was a pure delight! Thank you again
One of the best places to eat in the whole Richmond area! Vegetarian options: There are lots of vegetarian options and food is excellent Food : 5/5 |
Beautiful location in Fulton Hill RVA! I went for the vegan takeover night and it was excellent. Everything from the melon salad to the pakoras to the rum cake were so good! They have vegan options on their regular menu as well. Highly recommend to vegans and non-vegans alike!
Best restaurant in Richmond!
A hidden gem in the Fulton Hill neighborhood. Went for a midday lunch and intend to return frequently. Food, atmosphere, service and drink selection were all fantastic.
Great outdoor seating, quality lattes, kind team.
We had a great outdoor seating, good food and love that we can bring the kids. Service is good, unfortunately when we left and cleared our dishes into a service unit outside, we were lectured on how wrong we were clearing away the dishes. It s not an inexpensive cafe and being lectured instead of nicely asked felt very wrong. We re paying guests not service personnel.
Wow! I had dinner with 2 friends outside on the terrace. This was the perfect setting for an evening with friends. The view is awesome, the staff couldnt be friendlier or more attentive. The food was the crowning jewel. We shared several dishes and everything was exceptional. Great wine and cocktails as well. My new go-to place when friends are in town.
Had my wedding catered from here and have had meals here. Always a great choice.. big fan..
Can be noisy at times. Food and service outstanding!
My first visit to Blue Atlas did not disappoint. Parking in the lot is quite limited, but there is ample street space available. I loved that the restaurant retained features from the school building and worked them into the overall aesthetic. The space felt open, bright, and cheerful. The view for a sunset dinner was magnificent! The food was absolutely stellar. The standouts: Georgian flatbread was extremely tasty, the lahmacun was delicious, the bao buns were so good, and the dan dan noodles were yummy with a good amount of heat. The middle-of-the-road: the cachapas. Good, but not my favorite of the night. The miss for me was the pupusa: it was shaped like a hockey puck, the protein was piled on top, and it ate a little dry. Dessert included a seasonal chocolate pumpkin pie and a Basque cheesecake. *chefs kiss* Both were delightful. All told, it was a fabulous meal and Im already planning my next trip here!!
We celebrated a friends birthday dinner here. Excellent service from our waitress. She went above and beyond to help make the celebration better. Food was tapas style. Got the Cachapas, Nashville hot chicken, pupusa, beef dumplings, mezze platter, crispy harissa cauliflower, and lahmacun. We loved it all except for the dumplings which were meh. We also enjoyed some drinks, wine and all the desserts; the chocolate pumpkin pie, apple strudel and the semolina custard on a phyllo crust. Parking: Make sure to park in the spots marked for Blue Atlas customers and not the ones marked for residents.
Would highly recommend. Food was incredible and atmosphere was beautiful.
Everything was very good. 100% recommend! I got the Dan Dan Noodles and the Moroccan Salad. Great gluten-free and vegan options.
Delicious breakfast burrito!
I d order the crispy harissa cauliflower, whipped feta, and lahmacun the next time I go back! The bao buns were fine, but didn t steal the show. Very friendly waitress who was the perfect level of attentive.
This is the cutest new spot in Richmond! I didn t even know there were any places to eat in Fulton. This spot is so cute with a restaurant side and coffee shop side. We came for coffee, but I will definitely be back for dinner sometime soon! The outdoor patio is just to die for- beautiful views and lots of seating! I will be back here all the time!
Fun atmosphere, great service, and excellent food! We loved every dish we had - the flavors were incredible. Will come again!
Great unique dinner. What a gem. I cannot wait to go back.
Wow!! Easily one of the best restaurant experiences Ive ever had. Its a little upscale, but not snooty, and the price is totally reasonable. Our server was not only kind but excited to help us! We got the shrimp toast - the best Ive ever had - the Lahmacun and the Cachapas which were both new to me but absolutely delicious. thats three dishes from three completely different cuisine cultures, all absolutely nailed. We will absolutely be coming back!
Great way place to bring friends from away (and from near too)!
You have to try the Vegan Burrito. So good! The atmoasphere/ was relaxing, and Customer service was great!
The best place to start a hard weeks end. Brilliant guys. Feeling like youre among yours Keep going (Morning shift)
Extremely good - food for everyone and fun flavors
I can t stop talking about the GREAT meal we had at Blue Atlas. We had a party of 7 celebrating 2 birthdays and needed to accommodate a vegan in our group. Several of us drove from Northern Virginia - and it was so worth it!!!! Our waiter, Zach, who was excellent - guided us through the menu and made some great recommendations. The gorgeous small plates started coming out of the kitchen and each was better than the one before. The entire meal was a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. I wish Blue Atlas would open a restaurant in Northern Virginia, but if not, we will definitely be back! Thank you for a fantastic dining experience!
I loved this place! Food was delicious, view was pretty at night. Definitely want to go back during breakfast/lunch soon.
Vegetarian options: More vegetarian choices than meat options.
Everything was amazing (we has seafood pasta, Asian pork, steak salad, and cheese dip special). The 4 plates was the perfect amount for two. Cocktails were great as well. Love the view.
Every time I go Best service, amazing (also VEGAN) food, beautiful and chic ambiance! Best of all though are the drinks :) Derek and Abby at the bar were absolutely amazing company, and Derek makes the meanest drinks! He offered me his new creation ( Mystery Drink so far hehe) made with orange bitters and bourbon and it was the best dark drink I ve had in the longest time. Talk to Abby for food recommendations because she is on spot! Will definitely be coming back soon Thank you, Derek and Abby for the especially fun night.
A beautiful view in a cool, old converted school. Tough to beat that. The food is good, but be prepared to share and spend. Great options for vegetarians, but portions are small and designed to be shared tapas style so you will probably need two to three dishes per person so bills can get a little pricey. A good experience overall though.
We had an excellent meal. Everything was fantastic.
I had an amazing experience at Blue Atlas! I arrived to my table outside right before sunset and it was a beautiful view. I love the concept of the small plates to share. I also appreciate the diversity in culture on the menu. Everything was reasonably priced. My husband and I enjoyed everything we ordered. Our personal favorites were the Nashville chicken and the Thai steak salad. If you have room for dessert, the ice cream carrot cake is so delicious and not too sweet. Our server Samuel was so kind. We can t wait to return and explore what s new on the menu!
Really great food. Love the small plate concept with different nationalities. Great service. Sitting outside at sunset is the best.
Fantastic food with a creative menu. Also great service and ambiance. There were more vegetarian options than we were able to try in one meal, which is unusual and very welcome!
Loved the view of the city while we dined outside. Wine Wednesday is the way to go as they host a small wine tasting. Bottles of very good wine are reasonably priced. They paired well with our global fare!
Always trying to go there to eat. Never anything positive to service people of color. They are always short when you call in. Nothing available but the Bar or fire pit. Never Plesant when you take yo them on the phone. That s if they answer the phone. Bad business for us as a whole. I live on the property and my friend and we never get welcome.. They are convince after a long day at work. But we are never welcome.
Our team recently worked with Blue Atlas as they catered gluten free options for a wedding off location. Their team was so kind, flexible, and responsive. We had such a great experience and hope to work with them again!
Delicious eats and wine! Coffee menu looks amazing and Ill try it soon! Skyline view and sunsets are spectacular here
This place is amazing for a date night. Their patio and indoor both are very pretty. Dont forget to make reservation since they are pretty much booked especially on Friday evenings. We tried couple of cocktails and each of them were nice. My fav was smoky beet one. The food is very flavorful and portion size is decent. Their bao from Asian menu was great and the aubergine from European menu was also pretty amazing. Potato chaat was flavorful but chef can note that raw cabbage doesnt go very well in chaat items. Overall great food great drinks and great ambience. The place is bit expensive though. Costed 120 dollars for 2. We ordered 4 cocktails and 4 apps.
Every time I visit this place. Which averages about twice a month, Im constantly blown away. The cocktails are top notch and original. The staple dishes are excellent. The specials are absolutely delicious. Perfect for a nice date or to hang out with friends. A stellar view of the city skyline. The patio outside is lovely year round. Finally, the east end has a world class restaurant worth celebrating. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. You wont be disappointed. Parking: Theres limited parking out front (a dozen spots or so) and street parking. Its next to a residential complex so just make sure not to park there.
Its been a long time since I really enjoyed a meal that I didnt cook myself. This was a great dining experience. Beautiful property well thought out dishes and fantastic drinks. Just amazing. Parking is decent. We didnt have a reservation but still got a nice table service was impeccable!
This was our second visit to Blue Atlas for dinner and drinks. Both visits have been outstanding! Great small plates, mixed drinks, and desserts. Different and adventurous! The view is wonderful as well. Cant wait to go back!
This gem has been open for almost 3 years, and I am just now hearing it. It was phenomenal and our service was impeccable. Sat outside in the cool air and had great cocktails.
Awesome view with wonderful small plates, a super friendly staff and craft cocktails
Heavenly
Tasty food! Quirky, special atmosphere without feeling fussy. My taste buds went around the world with their variety of small plates.
The food and service were phenomenal. We ordered the crispy harissa broccoli, potato chaat, Georgian flatbread (not pictured), mushroom lumpia, and chocolate peanut butter pie. It was so cool to try foods from different parts of the world. I definitely plan to return!
Group of 4, we ordered several small plates and shared the fun. Every dish was really exceptional, taste, creativity and presentation. Our server was good, but we all wished that there was a bit had noted that the plate with Asian steamed buns was only 2 on a plate. (We would have ordered 2 plates so each had one.) Definitely will return, yes $$$, but worth it. A really great dining experience for us.
Beautiful space out back, the tapas plates from different regions are wonderful. This was a smash hit on date night! Highly recommend the Georgian flatbread EDIT - Came back on 12/9/2022, STILL AMAZING! This is a top-five restaurant in RVA
Superb ! Found this gem on my husbands bday. We both loved it ! Each dish is tasty and unique
Pros: very good service, cute spot, good wine. Con: the food and the vibe for the price.
Something different but I like it
Definitely the best restaurant experience I have had in a while. We were a party of 4 and split 10 items from the menu and also 2 desserts. Every dish was unique and delicious. We also lucked out and ended up there on Wine Wednesday so we enjoyed a free wine tasting as well! The service and atmosphere were great and I would highly recommend giving them a try!
Great special dinners and their market is awesome. Would definitely recommend it as a casual lunch place or nice dinner spot for a first date. The dinner food is different from the breakfast/lunch menu in the market but thats the best part because there is always something new to try! Their patio has the best view of downtown during sunset hands down!
Oh my goodness this place is awesome! They have unique dishes, perfectly executed. The food is fresh and delicious. Ive eaten here at least 4 times. The service is excellent as well. Compliments to the chef for a job well done.
