Fall Line Kitchen & Bar in Richmond

Honestly kind of disappointing considering how well-reviewed this place was - maybe they are coasting now that theyre well-established? The service was friendly but inattentive, the charcuterie plate was pretty bad and presented with no explanation of items, our cocktail was weak, and I think if you bill something as lump crab hushpuppies, they should have at least a few lumps in it instead of just stringy bits. The butter cake also seem overrated - it was just a sugar bomb.

Open environment yet quiet at the same time which allowed private conversation. Potatoes served with the omelette were amazing and very Celiac friendly! Peyton was our waitress and took great care of us.

Andy was an amazing host, bartender we came here multiple nights and he gave us great service , great drinks great food and conversation ! Would 100% come back for his service .

Visiting from Seattle,Wa letting it be known that the bartender Andy was the coolest. Made a brotha feel welcomed.. Breakfast sandwich with chicken sausage was perfect with their homemade jelly. Rib tips, steak, burger and chicken was good. This hotel is my new go to when ever I come out here again.

My server Gabby was terrific! She was so kind and was very attentive! I had the short rib and it was incredible! The sauce was perfect and the mushrooms weren t overpowering! Will be back soon!!

My daughters and I went here for dinner. We had the Autumn Salad, the Spicy Tuna Tartare, and the Short Rib. They were all phenomenal! Our server Gabby was so attentive. Great place!

This was our first time here and it was well worth it. The food was absolutely delicious but our server Gabby is the best. She was knowledgeable, personable, attentive and courteous. Definitely request Gabby when you come. I had the pork chop (which will be dinner for the next two days) ND my husband had the Braised Ribs- Delish! Everything we had was good. Gabby did a phenomenal job making our experience absolutely flawless! We enjoyed the crab hush puppies, roasted cauliflower, the bee keeper drink, Maymont mule, Caesar salad, and the truffle bucatini. Everything was divine, and Gabby s service was truly well paced and very patient (we took a long time to order because we were on a date and talking way too much) First time here, and certainly won t be the last!

We did the igloo at Christmas time, and my wife and I had fun! It was very cute. Our server, Maya, did an incredible job and the cocktails were tasty.

My husband and i booked the outside holiday igloo and it was amazing!! it s seriously so pretty and cozy, and the food was great (only suggestion I would give is holiday themed cocktails please!). we had Gabby as our server and if you re able to get her as well then you re lucky. She truly made our experience that much better :) overall we recommend!

I am very disappointed in this experience. Me and my family came here expecting nice food and time to catch up and spend time together. I can t deny that the vibe and decorations of the restaurant left us in awe, but I can t say the same about the food. We ordered steak, which came burnt and bitter. We also ordered fried chicken, and the chicken was hard, overcooked, and dry. You could honestly get better food at your local grocery store. I would not recommend.

The food was fine but the service negatively impacted my experience. It was pretty frustrating. The server was rude, dismissive and failed to remember my requests. Maybe it was just an off day for the restaurant staff.

Horrible experience with the staff. Last Friday my husband and I had lunch there after coming from chemo and to celebrate his birthday. It started off nice. The manager sat us down and had a little small talk. Long story short at the end we asked for the ticket and I asked the waitress if they did military discounts. She said I need to see your ID. My husband had on his army hat but was eating his sandwich so he first pointed to his hat because his hands were full. She said anyone can wear a hat. He said that s an insult. I was going to show you the id once I put down my food. She went over to tell her manager, the guy who seated us to tell him about the conversation. At that point he should have come over and said sir, I do apologize but it is company policy or something, anything, just acknowledge the issue. He stood near the bar area. My husband finished his food walked over to the bar and told him about the issue. He proceeded with, well after you reprimanded her which NEVER HAPPENED! Jerrell Thomas needs customer service training and to learn how to show more empathy. I had just come from a long chemo session and all my husband wanted to do was treat me to a nice lunch and continue to celebrate his birthday. He reached out to Jerrell s manager Joshua and explained everything. He was super nice and understanding and apologized several times. He offered a free meal which we didn t take advantage of we just love GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE which we didn t get last Friday. This would have been a great learning opportunity for the waitress had she went about it a different way she was only very quick to say anybody can wear a hat. My husband should have felt insulted because he worked hard in serving our country and is a well respected man in our community. After looking at some of the lower reviews it looks like the main issues are the staff. #notahappychemocustomer #notagreatbirthdaycelebration

Jerrel Thomas (manager) had and opportunity to turn a bad service experience into a great experience and he failed. Extremely poor customer service and managerial skills. Will not be coming back.

The Fall Line Kitchen & Bar is a beautiful location and wonderful bar. We were lucky to be helped by Gabby who was a great help and pleasure to communicate with. The Miso Halibut and Shrimp and Grits were near perfect.

Best corn bread I have ever had. Delicious chowder, tomato soup and a wonderful salad.

We were so excited to try this place but so so disappointed. We tried to go for dinner and they were booked which is totally understandable so we sat at a high top in the bar area. It took a little but we were able to order some wine and an appetizer. We got the wine quickly but never got the appetizer. Saw all the people around us get their food even the ones that sat and ordered after us. We knew they were busy so were trying to be patient but after waiting for a long while we just asked for the check the first chance we got so we could leave because it was clear we were never getting our food. When we asked for the check that was the first time the waitress noticed that we never got our food. Thats why I am giving a one star review never got our food and didnt seem like anyone cared. If you go maybe make a reservation maybe itll be better.

Our server, Maya, was amazing and so helpful with any questions. The food was delicious. Zoe gives their fries Top 10 of Richmond! Their Igloo s are adorable and create the perfect holiday tradition. This is a lovely place to have an adult meal when you arent worried about cost. Quality food, attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere round out the experience.

We chose to do something a little different this year for our Thanksgiving dinner and took a chance on this restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, from the hostess all the way to our server. Our server, Ana was conversational, kind, and attentive. She made the dining experience enjoyable with her friendly demeanor and attentiveness. When we were unsure of some items on the menu, she offered several recommendations based not only on what shes enjoyed but what others have liked as well. The food was absolutely delicious and quite filling (especially the gooey butter cake), but I have to say that the shoestring fries were AMAZING! We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere along with the warm lighting and beautiful decor.

Saturdays dinners (braised short rib and halibut) were fabulous and served promptly by our wonderful server Maya. She was all smiles and there when we needed her, a real gem! Be careful with the roasted cauliflower appetizer though, it was more than a bit spicy!

Service was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, and made the visit very pleasant. If there is a downside, it s that the lunch menu is somewhat limited, but still large enough to find some thing for everyone. Food was great, if not exceptional, but overall a great option if you happen to be in this part of Richmond.

Drinks were really good (Malbec and old dog new tricks cocktail); Tuna tartar app was delicious with enough wonton chips (never happens elsewhere); miso halibut was savory and mid but the mushrooms and pearl onions added a zhuzh; the steak frites was mediocre but the garlic butter made it 4 stars. Would recommend.

Got in late & didn t want to go to the restaurant ~ the Bar was perfect. We were able to order food & enjoy a very nice glass of wine. Our bartender, Andy was fantastic ~ attentive & gracious and we enjoyed every moment we chatted with him.

Unfortunately, I was on a fast, so I can not comment honestly on the food (it did look delicious for other members of my party ). Otherwise, 5 stars from me. Will be back for some food soon to give them the last star.

I went to Fall Line for my birthday dinner and it did NOT disappoint!!! Our server was Gabby, and she had such a positive attitude which made the experience even better! She was attentive and always made sure we were doing okay throughout the meal. If you are a fan of cornbread, PLEASE do yourself a favor in order the skillet cornbread -so SOO good !!! My partner normally never (I mean NEVER) takes leftovers from a restaurant and he made sure to grab the leftover cornbread to take home. I ordered the Shrimp & Grits (heavenly) and he ordered the fried chicken. He fell in love with the restaurant s special hot sauce for the chicken ands he not even a big fan of spicy! The dessert was complimentary for my birthday which was kind. We got the key lime pie which had toasted meringue on top - different for us but very yummy! In addition, the parking situation was easy. You are allowed to utilize the hotel s valet service to park for free. As long as, you get your valet ticket stamped by the restaurant. Our server Gabby was awesome regarding this detail too! She ensured that the valet ticket was stamped, even before we got our drinks, so we didn t have to worry about it later

So my wife and I just visited Fall Line Kitchen and Bar for lunch. We just experienced the most wonderful and warm hospitality customer service by Mari. she should be promoted to head of hospitality and customer service manager. We need more people like her, which reflects great credit upon this restaurant. The food was also amazing big kudos to the chef who made a wonderful juicy burger. The clam chowder was also amazing. Thank you to management and staff.

1/5 Stars Awful experience from start to finish. We asked to split the check at the end of the meal maybe not ideal, but most places handle it without a problem. Here, it turned into an hour-long disaster. Staff seemed completely clueless, disappearing and reappearing with questions but making zero progress. By the time they finally sorted it out, the entire evening was ruined. No apology, no explanation, just pure incompetence. To make it worse, the food wasn t even good. Bland, overpriced, and not remotely worth the hassle. If a restaurant can t deliver decent food or competent service, what s the point? Save yourself the time, money, and frustration go anywhere else.

Terrible frozen / microwaved food poor service! Hostesses and waiters act as they were doing you a favor Would not recommend just walk across the street to Secret Sandwich Society and you ll certainly have a better experience.

We ve been calling for weeks and leaving voicemails, with no return call to book reservations. My wife went inside to speak to a manager who was very unprofessional didn t acknowledge they failed to call back only to inform they can t sit a party bigger than 8 people. Well if someone would have called back then we would have known. Then she suggested to reserve a private room since my party was 21 people but unfortunately she believes that date is full already! She didn t even take the initiative to go check! Again, had someone returned my calls of the multiple voicemails we left then maybe we could have reserved the room! Her energy was draining, unprofessional, didn t care, and I don t recommend anyone to eat here or deal with a business who s managers isn t reliable, dependable or take the initiative!! She really didn t care and I don t suggest people spend their money on businesses who don t care!!

This was my first time in Richmond for my 2nd wedding anniversary and we chose this place because of the menu. The atmosphere was great! Busy but not too noisy. The host greeted us and was willing to seat us 30 minutes early but we decided to try the bar first! The bartender (Akai-not sure if I spelled it right) was amazing. His drinks were quick and delicious. What really made our whole night was our server Leah. My husband and I both work in the food industry at a 5 star hotel in DC and she has given some of the best service we have seen. Not only did she recommend some of the best food like the pork chop and baked potato, she made us want to drive the 100 mile journey back to Richmond for another dinner with her warm personality and smile. She even made us a list of must see/go to places which was the nicest and most helpful thing for someone who has never seen Richmond. Leah is a huge part of why we had an amazing anniversary and will always remember Richmond and Fall Line. Thank you Leah!!!

Elequent atmosphere for dining option. Salmon with rice and asparagus is delicious. Fresh guacamole and chrisp chips were plentiful for a party of 2. Leah did well with service. Allowed for privacy with a check-in or two to ensure needs were met. Dietary restrictions: Tomatoes allergy, so chef didnt include in plated meal. Nice customization.

I had a wonderful breakfast at fall/line, and the experience was made even better by the exceptional service. The meal itself was delicious I ordered an egg white omelet, salad, and lump crab hush puppies which was a great plate. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our waitress, Mari was fantastic attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She took the time to answer questions about the menu and offered great recommendations. She checked in on us regularly, making sure our coffee cups were always full and that we had everything we needed. Her positive energy and professionalism really elevated the experience. Overall, the combination of great food and exceptional service made our Anniversary breakfast more enjoyable.

Came here for my bach brunch and everyone was so nice. Multiple employees came and congratulated me. Our server Peyton was so great. Would definitely come back next time I m in the area.

Started out well. Cauliflower app was ok but burnt. The beef rib was fantastic. Server was on it up front. Then before Im three bites into dinner Im asked about my interest in the dessert menu...then for the last 30 mins the server just disappears...had to wave over the bartender to close out before she serves three people that just walked up. Not sure what happened. Was attracted by reviews...but this appears to be a one and done. The person that brought me the check was completely new to me and didnt bother to hear an answer to her question on how was dinner as she walked away...cant make this up.

From the moment I sat down, Gabby made me feel like I was in exceptional hands. Its rare to encounter someone in hospitality who radiates genuine passion for what they do, but Gabby does just that. Her energy and attention to detail created a personalized dining experience that felt like I had my own private server without the hefty price tag! I m truly grateful for the care and warmth Gabby brought to the evening. She made what was already a great meal into something special. Thank you, Gabby, for making my experience so memorable and enjoyable. I highly recommend the short rib and southern fried chicken, my go-to dishes here, but no matter what you order, I hope youre lucky enough to have Gabby as your waitress. She truly elevates the entire experience to another level.

We came here to look for something to eat before a convention. Everywhere else was too far or closed. They were great and let us eat here even though we didnt stay there. I stayed a the Marriot while us f this restaurant. My order did not appeal to me so I took a chance and asked for the manager. My food was replaced. I call that awesome customer service. The crew was und understand and pleasant. For all that I give them 5 stars. Oh, and my burger was delicious

Peyton took phenomenal care of us. The hot honey chicken and the lump crab hush puppies were great! The drink menu has some unique and delicious conditions, but Jerrell hooked us up with his rendition of a bourbon negroni and may I say, that should be on the menu! Hes gotta leave some for the rest of the great bar tenders I guess. If youre looking for good food and good drinks before you hit the town, Fall Line is the place to start!

The food was delicious. We ordered the Halibut and shrimp and grits. Both were very flavorful but for me, the halibut was incredible. Our server Gabby was a total delight. Funny and very helpful. We would easily come back again. The vibe was nice. Well decorated. My only comment that isn t glowing is it did just feel like a nice hotel restaurant. It didn t have its own pizzaz. You can tell Marriott owns the busing when you re inside the restaurant.

Very limited lunch menu with very few vegetarian options. Quite expensive for lunch. I had only a pasta dish and tea, and my tab with 20% tip was >$35. Management apparently does not care about customer preferences and does their chef a disservice. I cant have been the first customer to ask for regular unsweet iced tea, yet they offer only sweet green tea. Nor can I have been the first customer to ask for bread with my pasta, yet they offer none. The pasta dish was excellent, but I would not go back.

Maya was a great waitress, she greeted us with a smile and made great recommendations for food and drinks. I asked her about specific diet restrictions I have to follow, she said she would ask what I can eat, then came back with a menu marked out options like a check mark if it was OK for me to eat and an X if it was not. I have never had anyone do that before, it was so kind. She brought hot water for me to heat up my baby s bottle, also! Maya was amazing, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Such a wonderful night out, thanks to Maya!

Fall line is a great restaurant with an even better ambiance. Maya, our server, was attentive, quick, and checked on us just enough! 2 drink, 2 apps, and 2 entrées came out to about $115 before tip.

Oyster were just okay..tiny...Ol Fashioned was good (2) Wedge Salad was par, would be much better with Romaine lettuce or other quality lettuce other than Iceberg..French Onion just okay... Menu didnt tickle my fancy much so settled for all starters....

My husband and I came in a few days ago and it was amazing!! Our waitress Mari (Big thanks to her) she was phenomenal, She was very friendly and had wonderful energy. She took our orders very quickly and also gave us wonderful recommendations. We both decided we would be on the look out for her the next time we go. The food and drinks were perfect and the environment was so fun! 10/10 Will definitely be seeing us again

Drinks could be a little stronger. Food was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented. Joe (waiter) was very informed about the menu. When I called and had questions about parking the person who answered the phone was very polite and used my name which was very personal (because I had a reservation so my name and phone number appeared on the call) Parking: The restaurant validates parking. All you do if just give your ticket to the waiter/waitress.

We dined at Fall Line for a special occasion. We had the crab hush puppies for an appetizer, Halibut and Steak Frites for our entrees and crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. Our server Gabby was wonderful! We will definitely be back.

This was the best meal we have had in a very long time. Bryce , our server, was exceptional. Happy hour goes until 7:00 pm so you can enjoy apps and drinks before dinner for significant savings. Highly recommended

Excellent!! Everything was excellent! The food was perfect, great ambiance, and I cannot say enough about our server Gabby!!! She went out of her way to make sure we not only had great food, but a great dining experience. She was attentive, kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and so very personable. This has been our best dining experience in Richmond so far and it was due in no small part to her. We will absolutely be returning as often as we can, and we will be asking for her!! Thanks Fall Line staff for a great dinner, and a personal thanks to Gabby!

GABBY our server was great! As a visitor to Richmond, I haven t experienced very good customer service anywhere since I ve been here. But thank god for Gabby! She made me believe again. Food was good ordered quite a lot but our favorites were the hush puppies and fried chicken.

Our car broke down in Richmond, and we stayed at this lovely Marriot. The brunch with Peyton as our server was fantastic. She was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and encouraging. The food, pesto pasta, was divine. It made my not so good car breakdown experience much more palateable. Thank you!

Went for the brunch for the Richmond SPCA. The food and service was great. Peyton was our server and she did an excellent job. The Mimosas and Bloody Marys were excellent. I would go there again.

The Fall Line Kitchen stands out with its exceptional service and culinary excellence. Sierra, our waitress, provided an outstanding dining experience with her attentive and friendly service. The food was nothing short of excellent, especially the french onion soup and the corn bred. It is worth a visit.

OK, just some advice to restaurant management. You need to make sure that your waiters greet your patrons as soon as they are seated. I waited for a prolonged amount of time (15 mins) -I m a very patient person but it was unacceptable considering your restaurant wasn t busy. Furthermore, after being served my entrée, I felt very rushed- my waitress, actually came over and put her hand on my plate without my permission and there was still food on it!

I had a wonderful dinner with friends. The atmosphere was very intimate, the waitress was very kind and helped us choose from the menu, explaining all the dishes well. I had onion soup as my main course and it was tasty and with excellent cheese as a crust (something I never take for granted in America!) We started with appetizers that our friends chose while they waited for us to arrive. The toss was good and so were the tomatoes! I really liked some fried balls (not heavy) but I dont remember exactly what they were, with fish. If I return to Richmond this restaurant is definitely worth another visit.

Went here for my husbands birthday. Our waitress Jada was amazing! We ordered the cornbread and burnt ends for our appetizer. The burnt ends were INCREDIBLY TENDER and flavorful. We then ordered the shrimp and grits and short rib for our entrees. Other than the shrimp being slightly over cooked, we were thoroughly impressed.

Had a great breakfast this morning. Pimento cheese omelette was creamy and the smashed potatoes deliciously crispy. Peyton greeted me at the door with a smile and provided excellent service.

Everything was excellent. My table had the steak frites and the belly on pork chop. The belly on chop was to die for amd the steak was perfectly cooked. Finished it off with the gooey butter cake and the creme brulee for dessert. I couldnt recommend this place enough. Our server Sierra (I think that was her name) was also very friendly and attentive. About as perfect of an experience as you can get.

Our dinner here was only so so and definitely not worth the prices they are asking. We had key lime pie and crème brûlée for dessert. Both items were terrible. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere is nice. I would not recommend this restaurant. Very disappointing after seeing so many good reviews.
