Food and atmosphere was phenomenal, service was even better. Our waitress Amanda was great, her recommendations were spot on
Such a vibe!! Arrived by train in the evening and this was recommended by the information desk at the station. Was an easy walk from the train station on Main Street. Both smoking and non-smoking areas to sit, really nice patio and indoor/outdoor spaces. Reasonably priced cigars, food was excellent. I ordered the black bean soup and the empanadas. The picky eaters in my group loved the Cuban sandwich with fries. The Cabernet wine was great.
Appetizers the group ordered weren’t that bad but the meal I got had no flavor really. I know it was an expensive piece of meat but for how small the steak was and plate it was too much. $38 for a plate that was not good and was basically $40. Took over an hour for our group of 7 to get our main meals. The waitress was really good though, best part of the visit. Atmosphere was good but the people that start walking around there are trashy and smoke weed not far from the restaurant.
Great place for downtown Richmond. I attended a salsa night which was a lot of fun. Drink prices tend to be on the higher side but atmosphere, music, and overall vibe check passes!
Bar with a table top humidor. Was selling an Olivia V as an Olivia V Melanio. Major foul, erodes customer confidence. Selection of sticks indicates not owned by an aficionado. Apparently they allow you to bring your own so what's not to love. Super hot bartender from Long Island.
Amazing. Highly recommend. The staff was so genuine and kind. The food was to die for. Cubano sandwich, seriously. Love love. The chefs are brilliant. Our server, Kylie was just wonderful, and Connor also went above and beyond. And the hostess was so helpful too, but I forgot to ask her name! Thank you all. ❤️
Manager is rude and don’t care to ruin your night. Saw him be rude to too many people while I was eating. That alone won’t make me return. Keep reading tho! Parking is not free so be ready to pay $8 for 3 hours. Food tastes like old fridge , EW! Plantains chips are burnt and ceviche shrimp looked like random meat. Check the pic. Restaurant itself had plenty of seating outside but there was a wait. Smoking area is way bigger than non smoking and either way you will smell and be part of it, even outside. Happy hour doesn’t have a menu separated. However salsa night is only on Thursday and this dj can DJ! Cover charge is $5 per person but the music is worth it. Lesson starts at 8 pm and open to public for dancing starts at 9-12. There is a bar up there! I suggest getting dinner somewhere else and then dancing. Drinks are not strong! I recommend this place for the music only. Skip the food and service. 2 stars one for the music and the other for the waitress. She was awesome!
The atmosphere is incredible. Food was delicious. Service was exceptional. I’m so glad I ended up here. The only critique I have is it would be nice if there was a kids menu. It’s not too hard to put that together. Server made recommendations that were $20+ for a kid which wasn’t ideal.
Best carribean experience in Virginia with authentic dishes and delightful atmosphere
The food was spectacular and our server, Izzy, was wonderful. Truly a great experience with family. We will be back.
Great food, bad drinks.
Great place to dine in and very tasty dishes
My husband and I just stopped in for drinks, we had two beers. Which my was lukewarm, so I asked for ice. Tge bill was $13.06, my card was charged $2 more. I tried calling to no avail. So please look at your account to be sure, the bill matches what was charged to your account. We left a cash tip of $5.
This is an awesome little place. The food was fantastic, staff was great! We were there for the Sutliff 150th Birthday Party. It was a lot of fun to just hangout and smoke pipes after dinner.
Its a nice vibe with friendly stay and patrons. Well return. Food : 3/5
I loved it and the food was divine
Great atmosphere with exceptional customer..Food was delicious
Hands down my fav place in Richmond. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere. 10/10 every time.
Havana 59 absolutely lived up to expectations. And the service was out of this world thanks Jess!! Great experience and food!!!
Everything was absolutely amazing. The Cubano to the Key lime pie. Excellent service. The steak was cooked perfectly. Even the cilantro dip was delicious!
I didnt try the food, but the cigars and atmosphere were enjoyable.
Great spot not many like it!
Best cuban Ive ever had. Smoked a cigar and chilled. Amazing experience
Fantastic place, sine the 1990,s this has been one of my favorite places in the country. If you love Authentic Cuban food this is heavan. Food
wish i could give 10 stars!! Just had the most INCREDIBLE dinner here all thanks to Connor!! Never in my life have I had such amazing service at a restaurant. We got fresh roses delivered to the table, a complimentary slice of the most delicious and refreshing key lime pie (MAJOR kudos to the pastry chef!!) and connor refilled my diet cokes before they even reached the bottom! Such an amazing and welcoming atmosphere, good food, good music and the best waiter I ve ever met!!! Will DEFINITELY be back!!
Food was good and the restaurant is unique because it offers a smoking side where they provide you with ashtrays. A little dark if you are dining at night but overall good spot to try out. Their house habanero sauce isnt as spicy as they say and not evenly coated amongst the wings but they were good regardless.
Stopped by Havana 59 on my recent trip to Richmond and received phenomenal service. The food, drinks, and atmosphere at Havana 59 are great. I will absolutely be coming back soon!
I wish I could be here ALL OF THE TIME! Such a great place to just Zen Out with a cigar and cocktail! And they have the best Paella I have ever had!
Great place to eat EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD FROM THE APPETIZERS TO THE ENTRES. ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE DRINKS. LOVELY ATMOSPHERE AND HAVE A CUBAN CIGAR SMOKING BAR .
Every time we come to Richmond, we top at this place... I had the best Apple Martini
Not a lot of food options on the menu, but what we did get was pretty basic. Well seasoned though. The tres leche was a bit dry, the flan was better. Server was great.
A little too smoky.
Wonderful restaurant with Cuban specialties. My skirt steak was perfectly done and almost as tender as a filet. Will be back!
Yup
Went Saturday night at around 7pm, somewhat desolate downtown at that time of night but it made for a more intimate evening for our Bachelorette party dinner. Good food and service but nothing exceptional. The atmosphere/decor was nice, really added to the ambience.
Cane here for my birthday today. Food was delicious. Def worth a stop in for some great food.
Great food, drinks and cigars.
Love Havana 59! Good food, great cuban ambiance and a yummy happy hour with their famous mojito. Who doesn t want to visit a restaurant that reminds them of the Paris of the Caribbean?
The restaurant STINKS of cigar smoke from the adjacent cigar bar. All our clothes STINK of cigar smoke. Food was good. But again -- CIGAR STINK.
The food is very expensive and they dont really cook Cuban food as it is, and the paella for example is nothing like paella
Bar is good gotta try the food next
Never been but the menu images arent really convincing. Everything looks basic and dried out. Also they serve those same home fries or whatever you want to call them at millies and lulus. Along with the black beans and mussels. You basically get the same thing at these places with a different style on certain dishes.
This is a nice cozy spot. The food was good. The menu has a variety of things to choose from. They also have a very large selection of drink options, alcohol and nonalcoholic.
Excellent atmosphere, service, and food!
Best salsa night around :)
Bartender mishandled credit card resulting in loss -manager dismissive and rude made no effort to rectify situation gave precursory look behind bar -threw out number for follow up would not review security footage no attempt made at customer service other than blaming the patron -
Love this spot. It is a cigar bar, so you should not mind cigar smoke. Great service. Very delicious and interesting menu
Love this bar!!!
Great staff. Great food. Great cocktails. Sad my career has taken me away from this area.
This is in my top 3 favorite places in Richmond. I love to sit in the smoking section even though I dont smoke cigars, but the smell and the ambiance is great. The pork morsels and 59 chopped salad are my favorites! The cubano spring rolls were also yummy. I got the pear elderflower mojito which was absolutely one of the best mojitos Ive had anywhere, what a lovely flavor combo!
Great atmosphere for a cigar, drinks, and cards. Decent food; had the paella.
Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Great place to celebrate life events.
I love the food here.
The food was great and the service was ok. The atmosphere isnt really my style as I didnt even know restaurants had smoking sections anymore. But if your a smoker, that side of the restaurant had more ppl than the nonsmoker side.
One of the best places to smoke a cigar. Mojito are delicious!
Such a cool atmosphere here and ther bartenders were really nice. I wish they had opened the dance floor every Friday and Saturday. Also having better vents would be awesome!
Grab a little taste of Cuban flair at this place. The restaurant sits at the corner of 17th street marketplace. There is no direct street parking so my best advice is when coming off I-95 to park by the train station. I used an OpenTable reservation which was nice as this was the first time trying out this spot. The interior was very rustic that had a cocktail bar with bar seating and booths on one side and small 2 top and 4 top tables and booths on the other. There was a stairway leading to an upstairs eating event area, but did not get to check that out. The menu is one page apps and soup/salad choices on the left and entrees with classic Cuban and MP options due to the seafood faire. I opted for an original mojito and lechon asado. Skipped the dessert and app so not stance on that. The service was nice altho our server didnt check back in on us after we got food but would have been nice to get a drink refill or hot sauce if there were any choices. It did state on the menu due to a small staff team and kitchen the food will take a while. Which wasnt too bad of a wait. The drink was good and quite minty. The food was aplenty but would have like a wee bit more rice as there was more beans than rice. The maduros were good and tostones were crispy and delicious. Ive had lechon before but didnt know it had a green spice mix. It was good and the darker pieces of meat were more flavorful. The bathroom reminded me of one that you would find at a seedy dive bar. The graffiti on the walls threw me off, but I did like the Spanish newspaper ads. They did have a Valentines menu but right seem that put together for a couples meal. It was $55 that came with an appetizer, entré, and dessert choice I suppose. It wasnt too clear what it was so I skipped on it. All in all a fair shot, but not the most exciting in my array of Cuban food. At least go for the music and grab a drink with friends. Vegetarian options: GF options
I just want to say the service is always so phenomenal there. I was a little disappointed this time. There was no smoking (which is why I came). Everything felt rushed. My food was cold. Im sure its not like that on the regular, but like I said it was overall disappointing.
The food is top notch. If you wanna go dancing, Thursday nights are the best after dinner.
I had steak w/ a lime flavored pesto, yuca (a potato like root with paprika seasoning), asparagus , and a grilled half corn. The dish was very good! The only thing I would change is the atmosphere. We were seated in the non-smoking side but the cigar smoke was so strong that it seeped thru to our side. I do love how the entire restaurant is decorated. Wheelchair accessibility: Its ground floor. You should be able to access it.
The food here is good. The ambiance is nice and the establishment is located in a very active and happening area. There is a smoking section of the restaurant as well. The service was friendly. After eating, patrons can grab a drink, enjoy a cigar, and take in the lively environment in the smoking section or the outdoor seating area.
Bartenders , they were excellent.
Liked their Mojitos! Had a good selection of Cigars. Appetizers were good too! Food
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! BUGS CRAWLING on the walls. Was charged gratuity for three adults a two year old and a seven month old. When I asked the manager if it was standard practice to be charged gratuity for an infant he told me he saw everyone as a person (referring to the 7 month old) and then said I could leave more if I wanted. He was extremely sarcastic , dismissive and showed very little concern. The Waiter was nice until we pointed out the bug and he then charged us gratuity and when asked just said yeah and walked off. He would have gotten a better tip if he hadn t charged us gratuity but hey that s what stereotyping gets you! Good food but horrible service. Thanks but no thanks.
The wait was long for our regular non alcoholic drinks we sat in the area of non-smoking but you can still smell the cigarette :cigar smell from the side of the bar to the other room .. lol we are Hispanic and know what is truly Cuban food no original Cuban food here . My husband got the pork meal and the white rice was that sticky rice that you can throw towards the wall and will stick Chinese rice better than that iand I got the swordfish which was not even cooked right food was nasty and the wait was horrible .. o and you can see one of the cooks in the kitchen without gloves touching the food plus touching other things including his hat & head disgusting . Normally I give excellent reviews and here I m thinking I m going out to eat Cuban food .. because my husband and I love Cuban food Plus the food was expensive too and when we left the restaurant we smelled like cigarettes we are non/smokers Parking: You don t find parking in the street you have to pay for parking
Not impress not happy. Took some cuban worker s. I was not impressed by the food it had no taste at all. The meat had no taste at all the rice was over cooked it was just a mush. None of my cuban workers were happy paid $289 and no one ate. Not even the ceviche was good. Now the club vibe was amazing to small for all the people they were letting in.
Last night we dine in and Salsa at Havana 59 is the food was ok. We had the ceviche, empanadas, pei muscles, ropa vieja and dance all night. The mojito were good and the vibe was good. Great place to go dance some Salsa on the top floor and hand out with friends.
I give 2 stars because the service, the ambiance, and my cocktail, but this restaurant was a big disappointment. My dining companions rated their main course as 2.5 out of 5. Havana is their name but this IS NOT an authentic cuban restaurant, not at ALL. Those who review super tasty touch notch definitely dont know what cuban cuisine is all about. Yes they offer few authentic cuban dishes as Ropa Vieja, Picadillo, and Lechon Asado, but that is it. Nachos, Shrimp Curry, Chicken Wings are not cuban dishes. They serve plantains and tostones together, is like serving french fries and mashed potatoes. The plantains were not ripe at all, awful!. The tostones not crispy; they did not taste fresh at all. The rice definitely not latin rice, tasted more like Indian, middle eastern rice. The Tres Leches, a joke, they used cool whip instead of frosting, and served with strawberries, it was more like a Strawberry Shortcake than a Tres Leches. The Flan was good tho. I definitely will not patronize this establishment again.
The atmosphere alone makes this place worth five stars!! It can be difficult when you re not able to drink alcohol to find fun and interesting places and things to do in Richmond, and, even though their salsa events are 21+, I still had a ball just going in and grabbing a bite to eat!! It s always lively and fun, and their virgin mojitos are the bomb!
Great staff, great environment, great music, great food, great drinks!!! Separate smoking section available
This review is specifically for hosting EVENTS at Havana59 downtown. We just had our wedding reception there & everything was amazing. A special shout-out to the event coordinator Connor. This man is incredible. He busted his tail, sweating all night making sure everything was going the way we wanted & the guests were happy. Even at our meetings he was attentive to everything we said & made us feel seen & heard. Connor really made the experience what it was so if you re considering booking an event with them, trust me & do it. The decor was beautiful, the scenery, foliage, setup & breakdown, food, drinks, everything was *chefs kiss* THANK YOU CONNOR & Hav59 Vegetarian options: Beans, rice, sautéed veggies, plantains, veggie paella, delicious! Dietary restrictions: All the food we got was gluten free for some of our guests, & they made everything vegan for us too! (Minus the meat dish)
Good food. The service was slow though so you better not be that hungry when you get there.
Great Place!
Good times and you can smoke cigars. Its more of a social place but you can go solo. Thursday nites there are free salsa then it turns into a Latin dance scene.
Wheelchair accessibility: Poor Food
Supposed to be vintage but its more sticky and dirty cringe. Food is average. Paella very below par. Mint in mojito was dry and brown.
I love this place!!! As a cigar smoker, youll love the accommodation and atmosphere! The restaurant is divided into a smoking/ non-smoking area where you can light up a cigar while having drinks or a meal. They got a huge outdoor patio, and the windows open completely to give the in door- out door feel near the bar. Ive tried most of the menu, and the food is tasty. They offer a small cigar selection on their menu but allow you to smoke your own. The decor and music set the tone. Its a great social place. No televisions to distract at the bar. You get to talk with people! (Imagine that!!) LOL. I love it! On certain nights, they open up the Rooftop where there is salsa dancing, a full bar, and seating. This place is a while vibe! I come anytime Im in Richmond.
The food was great but the service was horrible. I actually thought our waitress probably went home for the night and forgot about us. I was shocked when she popped her head in 45 minutes later.
One of my favorite after work spots to visit. The atmosphere and decor gives you that 1940s Cuban flair youve been looking for. HOWEVER, the service today was horrible!!! After ordering food and a few drinks (the sangrias were delicious), I realize the food never arrived. After 52mins and surrounding customers received their order minutes of their arrival... the bartender checked on my order and out it came. Disappointed, the pork morsels were room temperature at best. The nachos were perfect. The shift manager Daniel did come out to apologize and was extremely nice about the whole ordeal. Thank you, Daniel.
Good drinks, yummy food, pork belly appetizer was extremely tasty. Just a bit pricey is all!
Attended Thursday night salsa lessons and open floor dancing. Really fun outdoor atmosphere. There is a $5 cover cost.
Super fun decor & ambiance. Will visit again!
This place was absolutely wonderful! Fun atmosphere, delicious food, and yummy drinks. I seriously cannot say enough about how good this food was!
Amazing food and ambiance. The food and decor takes you right to the middle of Havana Cuba. Real authentic flavors of the real Cuban cuisine
Really good food. Plan on going back soon. Vegetarian options: Really good Food : 5/5 |
Parking: Parking is across the street, but the lot is in pretty rough shape, especially for what they charge. Recommended dishes
I used to visit Havana 59 several times a year as I traveled from Connecticut to South Caroilna and vice versa. This was when the restaurant first opened. I fell in love with the food and the atmosphere. After a ten year abscence, my wife and I went to Havana 59 for dinner tonight. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are outstanding. Top notch. We ate at the bar and the bartenders were awesome. My only complaint is the cigar smoke. It is 2023, why is any restaurant allowed to have patrons smoking? Sadly, if I want to enjoy the cool bar atmosphere at Havana 59 I have to endure smokers. We met Daniel, a member of the management team. Super nice guy laser focused on delivering an awesome dining experience for every guest. I highly recommend Havana 59 for the authentic Cuban cuisine, atmosphere, and superior service.
Long wait and the food was cold
Great downtown RVA vibe. Cigar bar, mojitos and patio makes for a perfect evening!
Experience the elegant decay of Havana on a pedestrian street in Old Richmond
Excellent food!
Eating a simple meal here literally took 3 hours of my Saturday night. We waited over an hour just to get our check. Still gave 3 stars because even though this was a 1 star experience the food was good and I think they are probably are usually better service wise
Delicious mojitos, skirt steak and chimichurri was to die for, all around a 5/5 experience for sure!
What a cool place! Yummy food
The food was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxing and breathtaking. The staff was wonderful
I love this place! The ambiance ,food , and music. Sometimes service is a hit or miss. They get so busy and forget you them rush your food which makes a good time bad, fast! Salsa on Thursdays its a vibe.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food and drinks. Exceptional service. Love this place. We will definitely return.
Picked this restaurant because Im on the search for paella. Enjoyed Kuba Kubas version very much. But it was take-out. We ate here for the experience of eating in. We sat inside because of the heat. The ambiance was nice. Our waitress Caro was pleasant. Service was excellent. I saw that some reviews complained about that, but we went early. Was able to enjoy happy hour sangria and husband had their mojito. Both excellent. The paella for 2 came out fairly quickly. Caro said they have it partially ready for each evening. The seafood was cooked to perfection. The only negative thought on it is maybe less oil. Otherwise, very enjoyable.
Food was great, especially the plantain nachos and the mojitos. Pleasant and efficient server. The neighborhood was a little rough but the restaurant is a diamond in the rough. Vegetarian options: Veggie paella was yummy and colorful.
Some of the best Cuban Ive had....
Super charming atmosphere, and one can smoke! Indoor/outdoor vibe is very cool. I didnt dine, but Im told that its very good. Cool place.
Great drinks and dessert! The atmosphere is so fun!
Its not Miami, but the vibe will bring you close to it. The Paella is decent, mojitos are popping.
Ive only been to Richmond a few times, but when I do, I make a stop for Havana 59. The food is savory and the sauce is on point. I love the outdoor vibe even while inside, and I love how people bring cards to play with friends and family. Very homely vibe with AMAZING AND FRESH MOJITOS. The pear is most popular, but for those who like a strong drink.. like myself.. the Virago is an experience. And local too!
Didnt realize gratuity was included on my bill, so I tipped on top of that. Called Havana 59 on July 19 and they took my information (still had the receipt) and they said a manager would refund me the additional tip and email me a confirmation. As of today (after a few unanswered calls) I have not received the refund or an email. Will update this review if it gets resolved.
Beautiful place in downtown Richmond. Delicious food, good atmosphere, good service and delicious mojitos.
I went in with a couple of friends, we were seated and waited 30 minutes with no acknowledgment from the staff, The waitress walked past us 4 times without saying one word. We got up and left.
Food is great, drinks are great, and an awesome place to hangout for happy hour while smoking a cigar. I m not sure when, but the happy hour food menu has shrunk to just one item.
Arrived on a Friday evening and seated on the patio without menus (they had all been give out). Host indicated she d bring us menus when some were returned to us. A couple minutes go by and I see the host seat two more tables, with menus. There were three or four different servers on the patio, none of them brought us water or provided any services. After about ten minutes, I walked into the host station and got a menu. Another five minutes go by, still no server. Got up and left when I saw one of the tables seated after us not only get water, but have their drink orders delivered.
There are not many Cigar/Bar/Restaurants left. I have lived in many cities. Havana 59 was amazing. I always love a good Ashton Classic and the skirt steak was outstanding.
Great ambiance! Had a great time having some drinks with friends.
Good food nice space.
Definitely not authentic Cuban cuisine. Steak was burned on one side and served with good side up, like I wasnt going to taste that. Dont waste your time if youre seeking authentic great cuban food.
always take out of town work guests here. Hits every time.
It really feels like youre in Havana!! They even leave you with a postcard at the end of your visit to be filled out and left with your server if you wish to have it sent..how cool!
Service and atmosphere are great. The food was horrible. I got a skirt steak and the portion was tiny, the chimichuri was like canned spinach I d go there again for drinks and patio vibe but eat somewhere else. I thought the meat smelled a bit off but didn t think too much of it. My stomach was seriously upset all night. My bet is there some poor food quality control in the kitchen.
Food was not my favorite, but the staff was amazing. Nice chill vibe. We sent a dish back, and they were super accommodating
Order the oysters Rockefeller app even if you think you dont like it. This app was perfectly executed. Arguably the best in town.
I have never had a bad experience. The atmosphere alone is incredible, we always sit in the bar, yes there is smoking and it never bothers me. Adds to the atmosphere! The food and drinks are always great
First time at Havana 59. We loved it. Food was spectacular. Service was great. The Mojitos were delicious. Cant wait to go back.
IF YOU Want a restaurat WITH NO PARKING THIS IS IT AND THE AREA DONT LOOK TO SECURE
Great atmosphere for dancing and fun
I stopped here for some drinks since we saw a band playing outside in the plaza. Service was great, and I thought the drinks were well prized. 2 bacardi and diet for $15.
Its more of a spot to go if you want to be seen and or smoke cigars. I ended up there after taking my dog for some rock hopping. My waitress and everyone that passed us loved her. The drinks are good and you can get things you cant normally find at other places. Unless you visit the local bodegas. That said $22.00 for a cubin sandwich with lots of sweet potato fries and black beans. It seems kinda steep. I asked if they could sub fried plantains for the beans, which they did. But they added another $4.00 on top of that and didnt tell me. I didnt notice until I got the check. The sandwich was okay. Not worth the money, my dog really liked the fries, and the plantains were more smash burger than glazed. Very dry and lacking in flavor. Im more of a novice than not when ordering Hispanic foods. Every place thats had plantains that Ive been to has them in chip form or glazed. I was expecting glazed. That said again I didnt know what I was doing when I has given the options in Spanish. So maybe I made the wrong choice. To spend nearly $50.00 on a meal I could probably do better myself for $15.00 to $20.00 and have things left over feels like a waste of money. I get Richmond has an %11 meal tax. But most of what was on my plate can be obtained easily and at a low cost especially in bulk. Id go back for the drinks and cigar smoking. Maybe to salsa dance but thats really about it. Go to kubakuba if you want food.
Decor was awesome and the place had a really good vibe. No complaints about the food, flavor and portion sizes were good. Good drink selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Though for beer they only had bottles, nothing on draft if that matters to you.
Great Cuban restaurant with outdoor seating, excellent bar and cigars. The calamari was light and tender and served with tomatillo sauce. The Cuban sandwich was awesome.
The manager Dan is horrible! Made a lovely night out a nightmare! We overheard the way he treated a young server working and he shouldn t manage anything!
My husband and I were enjoying a wonderful meal but there was a table of loud and very rude customers. We could hear them saying rude and demoralizing comments to their sweet server. She just smiled and took all of their rudeness. The manager who we found out his name is Dan from another employee there did nothing to help fuse the situation. This large group of people were loud, obnoxious and obviously wanted to create a scene and they were horrific to their server. To see someone who was working so hard for them treated so badly was gut wrenching. We asked another employee about the manager and why he wasn t stepping in to find out he took the group s poor servers auto gratuity from her and upset her even more to where she left in tears. Shame on this restaurant and Dan the manager for not standing up for its employees when they are being verbally attacked and SHAME on Dan the manager for just not doing his job and basically taking hard earned money from an employee! We will never return and we will be telling others to not go to a place that is managed by an overgrown bully manager! To the owners of this restaurant .you may need to really look at your management before it ruins your establishment!
Great place for a after dinner cocktail with a cigar outside on the terrace!
An old favourite, gone downhill a little since last visiting
I love this spot in shockoe bottom. Always friendly stuff, delicious Cuban food. The house nachos are the best! . You have a bar/smocking area thats pretty chill and then the restaurant area . Good music, amazing mojitos, delicious food.
Nice spot. Food was good. Bathroom needs an update/cleaning.
We were visiting our daughter who is in her junior year at VCU. We love all types of food and were super excited for Cuban cuisine. However, while the atmosphere was excellent, as was the service, the food was a huge disappointment. None of the dishes from the chicken with rice to the Cuban sandwich had any flavor. My husband ordered paella and while it was a very healthy serving, it was so salty. This is a great place for atmosphere and to smoke cigars but I recommend eating elsewhere.
We had our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding. The planning was very easy, Daniel was responsive on what was available for food and drink (expansive options for both) as well as the settings for the actual dinner. The ambiance was fantastic, and the place settings, along with candles looked very nice. The drinks were perfect, and the bartender was top notch, she was swamped all night but was polite, fast and very attentive. The small bites and desserts were fantastic as well. The PA system didnt work well, however the space is small so that wasnt a massive issue. Unfortunately we opted for a plated dinner. I dont know if it was a one off or a reoccurring event but our dinners were late out to our guests, and the time between arrivals varied by up to 30 minutes such that many were done eating before others got their dinner. I would opt for the buffet to mitigate the risk of it happening again. Aside from the plated dinner and PA issues, the space was perfect, the planning easy, and the servers/bartenders professional. We had our wedding at Main Street station, so it was a very convenient location. Would recommend to anyone!
Great service! Coleman was our waiter and was very professional and courteous.
This place is GROSS. Nasty bathrooms, the food tasted like it an old refrigerator and the presentation was that of Feces on a Plate. Service was almost non-existent. Should be shut down by Health Department Vegetarian options: The salad was brown and limp. Cucumbers were soft and not edible Dietary restrictions: If you want diarrhea, get the Ropa Vieja
Most people wont beleive it, but to me, the Cuban food here was better than I had in the year I spent in Miami. Being ae to smoke a cigar after dinner is an added bonus.
I normally go for salsa night which is always incredibly fun. The food is a little expensive and took a little too long.
Love love love this place for the cocktails, food, cigars, and atmosphere! A true favorite.
Mojitos were delicioso. Got some appetizers which were so so.
Went for a friends birthday dinner. Had great ambiance & diverse crowd which I loved. However, I cancelled my food order after half of my party got there entrees & I waited over 20 minutes for my salad with added grilled chicken. After letting Connor(my waiter) know I didn t want my food any longer he was Extremely rude, even easing his voice at me yelling What when I tried to get his attention to ask him to bring my friends cake out. The restroom door stalls also do not close which is uncomfortable & never look up in the bathroom!
My life is kind of scheduled. I need work hard to be able go out to enjoy time with my girls group and be able to relive my stress. Get a simple cider after 50 min. and waiting to pay it was another two steps of 50 min to be able to pay correctly. waiter was looking into the computer like it was an empty bottle Jesus! Make sure you Millenium kids has correct training.
Great location & food. I got the Paella for 1 no chorizo due to my specific diet and I ended up with pieces of it at the end of my meal. They offered to compensate me which it was pleasant Im Just glad i was allergic to it & I didn t digest it. The calamari was cooked to perfection I would definitely go back i just wont be getting the same dish since im scared the same would happen. Everyone loved their food
Visited this restaurant for a quick girls night out. The service was good. We were seated quickly. The waitress was very attentive to us despite the restaurant being pretty full. The food was seasoned well and came in a good amount of time. The night was a good temperature so the windows were open. Which was an added bonus.
3.5 La paella is no the best plate, the attention was very good
Honesty, it has been an awful experience here this evening. Between the bad service, and the fish covered with scales, I dont want to pay for this.... Dont come here, there are so many good restaurants in the bottom....
Great vibe, the mojitos are great. Decent selection of cigars too.
I love this place. Incredible environment, food is fantastic. love having a cigar while I eat. This is the highlight of downtown Richmond to me. Absolutely recommend
We celebrated my moms 76th birthday last Monday. Mom is Cuban and I flew up from Miami so you know the expectations were high. I gotta say I was impressed. Great food, drinks, and music. My brother and I enjoyed some rum and cigars at the bar. Thanks for a great night. Definitely coming back.
We seem to go here every year for our anniversary. Always good food and usually good service. Tonight however, the service was disappointing. Bought a cigar to smoke before dinner, but it wasnt brought to the table until our appetizers arrived. We were seated by the open windows, and as the sun went down so did the temps, and a cool breeze was blowing in us. We asked if they could close the windows, and was told no by management. They didnt even offer to move us. We would have stayed longer, had a couple more drinks, but it was too chilly, so we left right after dinner.
One of my favorite places to enjoy a glass of vino & a good smoke A rare gem in RVA!
Wasnt good or bad just indifferent and not impressed. I loved the location. Definately not on my list of places to go back to. The menu isnt very accommodating to Pescaterians or Vegetarians. The drinks were ok and the food was uninspiring.
We get there and go straight to the bar. It s myself and 2 others. The bar has about 4 other people at it. We never get greeted. 2 of us are sitting and I m standing right by the bar exit. The bartenders have to see us because they literally have to go past me to duck under the table to get back to the bar. 7 minutes go by and no one asks if we want anything, how we re doing, etc and it s not busy. One guy has looked at me 4 times and said not one word. A couple comes in and sits at the bar..he immediately goes and takes their drink order. Mind you, they weren t that busy. A few minutes later a different guy finally takes my order. I had 2 people with me and bought 5 drinks. This is my problem, we re black. No one spoke to us for that long, but a new, not black couple comes in and sits down (just like we did) and immediately gets served. Then people want to complain about people when they don t get tipped or when they speak on race..well stop treating people like they don t belong. We were calm, quiet and nice about it. I don t want to have to go there but the reality is what it is. I ll never go there again. There s no justification for that. There s no explanation for ignoring us that would make sense. We even spoke to them a few times trying to get drinks and were ignored. I watched it all play out and people just acting like they don t see you is beyond laughable. Big smh.
Smoker friendly place to get Cuban fare and drinks. Enjoyed it. Food was good, drinks were well portioned.
Like the historic building and roads. Nice location and great food. The Cubano sandwich was amazing. Pretty pricy with drinks but the food was worth it.
Food was very good and the drinks was good.
Super tasty Cuban food and fantastic Mojitos! Every time Ive been here Ive gotten something different, and I havent been disappointed yet! My favorite has definitely been the Cuban, and the mojitos during Happy Hour are a stiff pour for 5 bucks!
Key lime pie is the best I ve had! The ambiance is unique and lively. The drinks are very good (the mojitos and the Bella Rose are my favorites). I would also recommend trying the nachos as an appetizer. The staff is friendly and efficient!
Had drinks here with coworker. Cool location, love the decor. 4 stars because they still allow smoking inside
Nice
