Lolita's is a restaurant inspired by the women, who through generations instilled in us the love of Mexican culture and food. Lolitas is a space where we can embody & celebrate the traditions passed down to us. As first generation Mexican-Americans we are proud to present a new concept to Mexican dining while still being true to our ancestral food.
Our family came in to celebrate 2 birthdays for dinner. We made a reservation easily online & our table was ready when we arrived. The food (lots of gf/v options) & drinks were delicious and the service was even better! Plus loved the atmosphere & the holiday decorations. Can’t believe we haven’t been before! Will definitely be back!
We love going to Loda’s for especially larger parties for birthday dinners or even in this case a baby sprinkle! One of our favorite things about them is that both my husband and daughter have a lot of food, allergies and they are always very careful and happy to adapt to those which is really rare anymore! They also are wonderful with children and including them so thoughtfully in the meal, even bringing us many teaspoons to use for my daughter! Their food is incredible. Definitely get the Baja shrimp taco, and the chorizo queso!!
Me and my wife love coming here. Been coming here for years. All good times, great food and great service. Our latest visit was no different. We ordered Baja fish and carnitas tacos, and chips and their house guacamole with horchatas to wash it all down. Bummed I didn’t get the churros for dessert. Next time
The atmosphere & service was 10/10 Not to mention the AMAZING food! Everything was so fresh & tasty! One of the owners was walking around and checking on the tables. Recommended the flan & it didn’t miss! Will definitely be coming back!
The cocktails were unique and delicious. The tacos were also excellent, especially the pork and pineapple one and the shrimp one. Three taco orders were perfect to share between two people for dinner.
Each time I have been here I have been met with such a delightful experience. Not only did the chef allow us to try their newest addition to the menu but dining here for any occasion has always been wonderful. We had the carne asada and el pastor tacos which were made with the perfect pairs. The corn tortillas are actually so delicious and do not fall apart like others I’ve had. I had the Paloma Guava Cooler as a drink and I have to say hands down the best cocktail in Richmond. The cinnamon stick garnish comes smoked and not only did I get clear flavor profiles but the aromatic smell brought the entire drink together. The Verde Colada was everything we hoped for. . Very tropical that fit the aesthetic of the interior with perfection. We also had the snap pea cocktail, delicious as well as the Amore cocktail (both are pictured) and very much worth the price. Everything about this place is intricately thought out and it is impossible to make a wrong decision by coming here.
Was greeted with a smile. Server was knowledgeable about the menu. Appetizers were delicious. Drinks were fantastic. Tacos were out of this world! The ambiance was just so cute! Will be back!!!
Stumbled into Lolita’s with my team of 16 and we had a blast! The place is super cute inside, and the tacos? Amazing! The staff were so nice they even threw in free desserts. If you’re up for some tasty Mexican food with friendly vibes, definitely check out Lolita’s. You won’t be disappointed!
Excellent food and very nice service! Vegetarian options: Good choices. Food : 5/5 |
Best Mexican restaurant in town. I m in here at least once a week. Everyone that works there is lovely and I m always well taken care of. If you haven t tried it I highly recommend the corn crumble cake after your meal. It s amazing!
lola was amazing!! such great service and food was delish!! will definitely be coming back!!
Our server, Lola, was amazing! Fantastic food and service! We had so much fun celebrating our friends birthday!
Best salsa really cool bar and amazing owner.
Sadie was absolutely AMAZING! My mother and sister came to visit me from PA and I decided to take them here. No complaints at all! Sadie took care of us. We sat at the bar and she is one of their bartenders. She definitely handled our Shenanigans. Thank you Sadie ! Shout out to Kevin for photobombing our photo. Loved it! Tacos, no words but DELICIOUS.
The food and service was a 20/10. I ll be back tomorrow lol
Great place! Great music! Amazing food! Friendly staff!
Great food and service! Loved everything!
Best contemporary Mexican restaurant not only in Richmond but probably in the region. This is coming from a person that has been in Mexico several times. One of those oddly great places in RVA that are over and above anywhere else.
Love love love Lolita s. While parking is a booger. The food, vibe and service is incredible!!! Their margs are exceptional and hot cocoa w rum. Omg it s definitely a destination for me, however, worth it for special visits with amazing friends! I ll be back!! Food
For my first time visit at Lolita s it was great!! The food tasted amazing and the drinks were refreshingly delicious. We recommend trying the Tuna Tostada, Guacamole, Tacos Gobernador, and Cochinita Pibil. The service was excellent and our server was on top of it! If you ever visit or are from the Richmond area Lolita s is a must visit!!
Perfecto service. Everyone was so nice and the food is so good
The atmosphere was great. Food authentic and delicious. The drinks made by the bartender Kevin were exquisite and full of flavor. The manager Nivi was super kind, helpful, and attentive. Would definitely recommend and come again.
As always, the food is on point and the service goes without saying! Thank you Niviz for everything, we are sad to see you leaving! God Bless you whenever you will go!
Lola was our server and she was amazing! I told her I was planning on asking my friends to be my bridesmaids and she was so helpful in making the experience perfect! The vibes were immaculate, trendy, and the food was yummy!
Delicious food, yummy drinks, & Incredible ambience. The staff is always lovely and attentive. Gonzalo always takes the best care of us!! Vegetarian options: We love the mushrooms! Dietary restrictions: Great options for veg ! Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu!
The tacos and cochinita pibil were marvelous, as were the Margheritas. The guacamole was divine, and the chips that came with it, with a delicate pepper flavor, were one of a kind.
Great place. Sat at the bar. Good food. Friendly bartender!
Watched our server leave in the middle of our meal. Food was brought out by someone else. Water was not refilled until asked after 15 min of waiting, ketchup/ hot sauce never brought out. Egg was not cooked over hard like asked. No one ever asked how our food was after it was brought out. A third person finally gave us our check at the end. It s nice inside and the food was decent, but some of the worst service I ve ever experienced.
Very nice spot. We went on Wednesday night, jazz and wine excellent! Must visit.
10 out of 10!!!! Everything was perfect! Food was exceptional Drinks well I ordered a passion fruit pitcher for $25 All the food was evenly balanced I will be back for more lunches This place is literally A diamond in the rough
I ve gone here three times now and every time the atmosphere and service are amazing! I wish my food had been a little hotter last time but it was still delicious, highly recommend
I ve been going to Lolita s since they ve opened and I have yet to be disappointed. I ve had lunch, dinner, and drinks there and I love the variety and the menu choices. The guacamole and salsa are delectable. The food is always so fresh, delicious, and authentic the drinks are so creative and yummy (the jalapeño margarita is so good). The food at Lolitas reminds me of restaurants I visited during my time in Guadalajara. It s an elevated dining experience at a good price. I love the atmosphere, the decorations, and it s always so warm and welcoming. The hosts and servers are very helpful, kind, and efficient. Definitely one of my favorite Mexican spots in Richmond and in Cary Town and I highly recommend it.
We were here for a private event and this place was amazing! From the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and amazing food we really enjoyed this place! The owner was super nice and made sure everyone was attended to. Im positive this place is awesome and so much fun during regular hours but I highly recommend for your next private event! 10/10
We had an excellent birthday dinner here. The service was truly notable for how attentive and authentically friendly everyone was, particularly our server, Michael. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. It is trendy, vibrant, and buzzy yet also cozy and unpretentious. The food was fantastic and interesting. It was refreshing to experience a well achieved balance between authentic Mexican food and elevated contemporary cuisine. Even the small details like the corn chips weren t greasy and fried to death. The chicken pozole was amazing!!! The seafood tower, tacos, tostadas all great. They were so kind and brought a birthday dessert which was a spicy fruit gelato they collaborated with Bev s to make it was so incredibly good and not overly sweet which was perfect. Worth noting, they were great about food allergies and contamination.
We are vegetarians-they had options for us that were delicious. But, the serving sizes were small. Great overall service and experience.
Loved the decor, ambiance, cocktails and the food !
I have lived in Richmond 4 months now and have explored a lot of restaurants. This place is probably my very favorite place in Richmond, certainly number one for tacos. Yesterday we started with their octopus in Cauliflower creme. Just amazing. You will not be disappointed. Tuesdays its 5 bucks per taco. The cocktails are very interesting and flavorful too!
Coming from a real Mexican, the food was not authentic or great, the atmosphere was loud, hectic, and crowded, couldnt even listen to the music. The purple colada morada was too strong, didnt taste the piña colada. It seems like they just poured half of the bottle in it. If you want some real Mexican food try out La Doña :)
Lolitas is my go to Richmond lunch spot. Never disappoints! Staff is amazing. Drinks are delicious! And the food....YUMMY!!
Lolitas is a hidden gem in Richmond. The atmosphere, food, and service are all top-notch. If youre looking for a unique and beautiful experience, look no further. Ive been there for drinks (some of the best in town!) and their Taco Tuesday is an incredible value.
Loved the vegan grilled cauliflower. The Mexican apple soda was great too!
Fantastic brunch and dining experience
Awesome atmosphere, even better service. Great food.
Goo mexiva
Came in again to eat here and it s always amazing! The staff is incredible the atmosphere is incredible and the food is top notch. I will always recommend Lolita s for the best food. PERIOD!
I m a Lolita s regular at this point. I choose this spot over any other in RVA. Beat margarita I ve had and Sadie (behind the bar) will get you right every time. Love this spot!!
What a great experience ! Amazing bartenders, great drinks and the new fall menu was delish! Don t miss it !
Amazing appetizers and cocktails! I file this one under Culinary Experiences.
Ive only been once, but Im so glad it opened in the neighborhood Ill definitely be back again. The tacos, drinks, atmosphere and service were great!
Excellent brunch. Fantastic service. Wonderful decor.
Live music! Cool atmosphete!! Drinks and food were tasty!
I would call this avant-garde Mexican. Or maybe contemporary Mexican? The food is tasty and interesting. Dishes are prepared individually, this is not a fast food Mexican restaurant where everything is premade and microwaved on the plate. In nice weather, when the front wall is open to the sidewalk, it s a lovely space for a meal. Good for lacto-ovo-vegetarians. Limited option for vegans (that s true for every place). Personally, I like the tuna tostado appetizer and the fish taco. The chips in the chips and salsa appetizer were different and delicious.
Over priced for the amount of food and very bland food. No flavor needs to be seasoned. Very disappointing. Menu was not customer friendly. On the plus side atmosphere and service was Great.
Amazing staff, incredible cocktails and delicious food in a very friendly and inviting atmosphere. One of my favorite places in Richmond operated by a great family. For brunch, lunch, happy hour or dinner - I highly recommend Lolitas
Delicious food, great service, nice atmosphere, not too expensive. Lolita would have been proud!
Vibrant Mexican eatery with a small selection of vegan, vegetarian, and dairy-free options. The peach salsa was delightful and the tostadas were a unique twist on the traditional tortilla chips. The choripapa tacos were packed with flavor and just the right size. Lots of non-alcoholic drinks for those wanting a treat! Excellent service even on a bustling Saturday.
Food expensive for what you got. Poor service, nice surroundings. Very Disappointment for kids Menu Do not order please my daughters fish taco was the worst ever. My Kid eat everything, she literally bites the taco and leaves everything on her plate and the check hit around . There are so many other opcions, better and cheaper around it.
Amazing food and service
Great vibe and amazing food.
Monroe and Beau are the best!!
Vibe is on point, very comfortable spot. Service was great. Food was okay, nothing special. We had the chorizo tacos, chicken quesadilla, and queso fundidio. Queso was not good. Tacos and quesadillas were basically the same thing with different meat. Odd, but not bad. I d go there again if I m in the area but wouldn t go out of my way to go there Wheelchair accessibility: Can easily be accessed via wheelchair. We had a stroller and it was no problem.
1. The food was ok. The potatoes in the bowl were not seasoned. My recommendation for the bowl is to include rice and a dressing/salsa to help with the dry heaviness of the bowl. 2. The service was great! 3. The atmosphere was cute and inviting.
Love the food & service was excellent. The decor was great and had great vibes. But, it was very noisy. Maybe thats a good thing, because they were packed!
Great Jamaica Tacos!
the best carne asada tacos ! Great ambiance and service 10/10 recommended.
Unfortunately, service was terrible. I joined my table later than the rest of the group and our server repeatedly did not acknowledge me when she came to the table. She did not offer me a clean glass for water and I had to drink out of a dirty cocktail glass and eat my friend s leftovers. We tried to get her attention multiple times but were ignored before deciding to close the tab and go elsewhere. I believe her name was Cynthia, that was the name on our receipt. Not sure if it was because there was already an automatic gratuity or if because I was the only black person at the table.
Lolitas is my new favorite restaurant! We started out with the fresh Guacamole Fresco along with the Queso Fundido, and they were both excellent. We paired it with their Classica Margaritas, made to perfection, and had the Asada Tacos and Baja Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos for our entrees. The service was wonderful, and the waitress gave us extra chips for our starters. We sat in one of the booths and stayed for about an hour and a half. The ambiance is perfect for a casual family dinner to a formal birthday party. Loved it!
Super cute place! Love the decor and it had a fresh take on Mexican cuisine. Enjoyed the freshness of the ingredients and the meal definitely had highlights. Loved the lamb chop had a great crust and the sauce work was yummy, just needed more sauce. Overall the food was on the right track just missing some key elements whether it was texture, sweet, sour. The service was good, not great. Timing between courses was off and super bummed that 1 of the 2 desserts were no longer available especially because it was a special menu night. Didn t feel like the menu was worth 75/pp have def eaten prix fixe menus for less that provided more. Would try again on a normal night.
Love this kitchy , woman owned restaurant. Lots of choices for vegetarian peeps like me. Cocktails are on point!!
Cozy spot with amazing food. You can definitely tell they put love into each dish.
Wow, first of all this is the most adorable restaurant, and on top of that the service was phenomenal! Also, happy hour is available in the entire restaurant which is awesome ! Make it Snap Pea cocktail was delicious! We had Shrimp Tacos, Carne Asada Fries Esquites, and Queso Fundido
So sad the chilaquiles no sabían a nada it was a beautiful dish but ended up tasting like nothing and had way too much cheese. This place is so gorgeous with the kindest staff, solo porfa échale unos chilitos or something!
Excellent! Tacos are so good, cocktails are creative and tasty. Atmosphere and staff are excellent.
The food is delicious ! 10/10 no complaints
Our meal was so delicious I wanted to cry afterwards
Third time there. Portions are incredibly small compared to price. Service was lackluster. I waited over 10 minutes for my water to be refilled while I watched staff stand at the back playing on their cellphones. Not worth going here. Overpriced boushee and not worth it.
Love this place! Their mocktails are so good! So is the food.
wanted to be seated for 20 minutes and the the waitress was rude. used to love this place but never going back now.
Very cool restaurant and bar in the heart of Carytown. Atmosphere is top notch. Drinks are inventive and delicious. Staff is fabulous. Highly recommend. We will be back.
This place is a vibe! The music, the restaurant, the food, EVERYTHING! I was visiting Richmond for work, and this place was HIGHLY recommended by a coworker. And it didn t disappoint. The food was on point and the drinks were delicious. And the customer service was amazing. If you have the opportunity to go, do it!
I have become a frequent at Lolita s over the past couple months. Their guacamole is my favorite thing on the menu, the tacos are the perfect size with good seasoning and their drinks are delicious. The service is quick and everyone working there is super friendly. I truly have nothing bad to say about this restaurant.
We love this place. Try the queso fundito with mushrooms! Dietary restrictions: So many gf options! Food : 5/5 |
We absolutely love everything about this place from food the people the vibes!! Everything!! if you have not been, you definitely need to go
Great mahi mahi tacos and selection of salsas
10 out of the 10! Listen to the server s recommendations lol
I rarely do this but I feel compelled. My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant and although the restaurant was clean, well maintained and pleasant the food was a tragedy. The menu was a fusion of Mexican and American. To me Mexican food is fresh, with layers of spices and tradition. This was very bland, lacking depth and passion. The salsa was a combination of three flavors and only one of them didn t taste like baby food. The tacos (beef and fish) were prepared with fresh ingredients but lacked flavor. Unfortunately unless you are seeking Mexican food for diabetic seniors you will probably need to look elsewhere.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere!
Cool Vegetarian options: Cauliflower is special. Gotta have it at least once. Food : 5/5 |
We had a guava mocktail (which came with an adorable Lolitas bamboo straw!), coconut horchata, carne asada fries, huevos horchatas, and a chorizo bowl. Everything was delicious!!! Our server was attentive and prompt. The atmosphere was laid-back and cheerful. Everything youd want for a brunch date!
The place is nice but the noise from the a/c is unbearable if you sit next to the doors, as they keep them open to serve some of the tables outside. The service was good and the food ok, although a little pricey for the size of the portions.
Loitas Restaurant has such great people who are incredibly welcoming. Thank you for always supporting the community and giving back. Your commitment to the community shines through in everything you do!
Fresh, wholesome food, artfully presented. Not to be missed!
Food is amazing. Drinks are outstanding and best service. Servers and bartenders always friendly. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great atmosphere.
Phenomenal attention to our dietary needs. Great food. Unique selection, all prepared from scratch. Dietary restrictions: Phenomenal attention to our dietary needs.
Good service, good food, good vibes. What more can you ask for?
10/10 food, service & atmosphere. Perfect date night. Had a great time. Will be coming back plenty!! Tacoooo tuesdayyyy has great deals w high quality food & yummy drinks!
Great drinks and appetizers! Beautiful place to enjoy with friends!
Deelish! Great service! My daughters and I had a superb brunch in a uniquely Latin Setting. WE all had different tacos and will come back for more! Btw. Best tortillas in town with our guac.
All of the things are sooo good! The carne asada fries are cubed potatoes and all the flavors made feel euphoric. The tacos, the salsa, the crudos. Go all in and your vibe will be right where you want it.
Amazing service, and the food was phenomenal!
Loved this place! The food was so fresh. I got the salad and really enjoyed it. The tostadas and salsa was delicious as well. Loooved the corn cake dessert! I would return just for that. Staff was friendly and great about clearing the table as we ate. Would 10/10 recommend.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our large party. I greatly appreciate it. The food was well prepared and delicious. The Golden corn cake crumble was my favorite, you must try.
I first want to say that I absolutely appreciate the customer service of this restaurant. We came in to celebrate my sister s and brother in laws birthday s and we had such an amazing time. Our server (Blair) was super professional and was very attentive. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the tacos. The manager (Gonzalo) was also super kind, he took the time to make me a spicy salsa for my tacos that was absolutely delicious. Like I mentioned, the food is good but the customer service makes this place amazing. Blair and Gonzalo deserve to be recognized for their hospitality. Thank you :)
The mango margarita was exceptional! Loved it so much I had 3! The pineapple habanero salsa was spicy, but sweet. The best of their salsa! The Baja shrimp tacos and a side order of potatoes was delicious. I d also recommend their gauc! It had some lime zest on top for added flavor.
A trendy place spanish cuisine in large portions heavily salted and not that taste. The noise level is high with many large groups. The quantity is there but not the quality. Mass production rather then fine tuning.
The amazing atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. These people creat the balance of flavors. We had fish tacos, pork tacos, guacamole, mango margaritas-all excellente!
Sébastien was top tier!
Excellent location with great food and music
Brunch. The hibiscus mimosas were phenomenal. Loved the fried tortillas and guacamole (although the tortillas were slightly burned). The eggs in the huevos rancheros were hard-cooked. I prefer runny eggs with my huevos rancheros. Our server did not ask how we wanted the eggs. They were served on blue corn tortillas which also seemed to be slightly overdone to me. I added chorizo to mine. This dish also had a flavor overtone of being slightly burned to my palate. I ordered coffee and they did not have milk, half and half or cream (only CoffeeMate), so I tried a coconut milk substitute on the suggestion of staff. It did not appeal to me. Really love the decor with the bright colored tile. A very lively place with lots of energy and potential.
The service was excellent from EVERYONE we interacted with. The food was A-Mazing! We had the Tinga de Jamaica, Pastor, and Carne Asada Fries. The drinks were not what I was expecting, but still really good. I got the Golden Years which I thought would be tangy but had a more earthy taste from the saffron, and my husband had the Tiki Tiki Boom which was really good and more on the fruity side. Were from Williamsburg, and were just visiting from the weekend, but will be making an effort to come here more often now that we know how amazing this place is!
The food was amazing! The portion size of everything was perfect. The cocktails were perfectly balanced. Do not let the uniqueness scare you away from them.
Lolitas has the most amazing tacos! I got the Gorbernador and my hubs got the Baja fish. We shared the grilled octopus and it was delicious!! Definitely check this place out!
I had the sirloin tacos and they were great! Very tender, flavorful, marinaded beef with a little homemade guacamole, lime and cilantro. Interesting, fresh salsas. Perfect. Nice people. Interesting decor. The women owned blah, blah, blah didnt even put me off even though Im an old, crusty white man. Thats how tasty everything was!
A must visit when I m in the Richmond area! Never has upscale Mexican been done so superbly. Of course, it had to be done by two fellow badass Latinas! From appetizers to drinks, everything is absolutely made to perfection and perfectly balanced. I come every time I visit from our of state. This last time we brought family from Mexico, and they also loved it. The service and ambiance are also impeccable.
I come to Lolita s for lunch, dinner; and have had celebrations here! It s such an amazing atmosphere, and a better take on Mexican food than a lot of the other places in richmond! I m always happy with staff and the service I get. Simply: good food, good service, good vibes, and it s gorgeous Dietary restrictions: I m gluten free and the menu is clearly marked
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Had the pollo asado tacos and the corn ice cream. 10/10 go here you will not regret it. Standard dinner rates.
I never usually leave a poor review for places but unfortunately I have to this time. Lolitas has a great atmosphere with a fun vibe for special occasions; however, every time I have been the service has been interesting.. Yes we all want our plates cleared as we finish eating.. but not as were taking the last bite or the last sip of a drink to be asked are you finished with that. This happened numerous times with my other friends at the table, too. We ordered queso and before we could finish, the chips were taken away. I understand the notion to clear the table, but it felt like we were being rushed out. We were celebrating a friends birthday dinner and spent maybe 45 minutes there before they were clearing the table and bringing the check. Additionally, the food is subpar and super expensive for what you get. Friends ordered drinks that came with strange chili shreds that were not listed on the menu. Overall, I never understand why this place has good reviews. The only good thing about it is location and atmosphere..
Karina and Blair were absolutely amazing, food was outstanding. Start to finish outstanding
The tacos de asada (steak tacos) are the best i ve had in Richmond at a Mexican restaurant! Tbe reason I keep coming! The restaurant is so cute on the inside, perfect and my go to for a date night or even night out with friends. They re constantly adding new dishes to the menu giving you something new to try, Lolita s is definitely living up to the hype and worth the visit!
The food was delicious and excellent service 10/10 definitely recommend!
What is really nice about that place is the atmosphere and the presentation of food! From appetizers, to modern tacos and all the way to amazing flavorful Margueritas, this place is a go to! #OMARating 10/10!
The atmosphere overall is beautiful and the service is good and quick. However the food is bland. The rice is bland and dry. And the server said I could only get two tacos which I thought was weird. But overall is was a cute place but if you want authentic tacos I would go somewhere else.
Went here for the first time the other weekend and it was great. The drinks are pricey but definitely some of the best I ve had since moving down here from NYC. The atmosphere is super cute and I highly recommend the Tuna Tostada as well as the queso. So good and great for a celebration.
If you love exotic mexican food, this is your spot. Got a CHICKEN quesadilla which ended up being 90% cheese and a PURPLE wrap tasted fine but not $20 fine. Do NOT recommend unless you re into this weird stuff. THEY ALSO HAD NO CHIPS AND SALSA, this is not a mexican place and that s on god.
Second time eating here. Great atmosphere, phenomenal seasonal menu. Great drinks menu! Vegetarian options: Soy/tofu protein options Wheelchair accessibility: Street level, no stairs
Absolutely recommend! We came on Taco Tuesday (unplanned, actually) where you can order mix and match tacos for just $5 each, so I tried the Asada, Pastor, and Chori Papa. They were all delicious and the corn tortillas were amazing! I normally hate corn tortillas (and that is not an exaggeration), but these are made in house (and theyre purple) and were just so good! They held up so well with even quite wet tacos, without tearing and they tasted good. My favorite was the asada, followed by the chori papa but they were all good. The brussel sprouts were also perfectly crisp, with a balsamic and honey that balanced nicely. I also had the corn cake crumble, which was a delicious way to wrap up the meal. The space itself is super cute, bright and inviting. Very Instagramable if thats your thing. Theres a bunch of bar seating as well as standard table seating, but the in-wall booths are definitely my favorite (as someone who needs a way to trap young kids in their seats) and are very cozy. The service was great - so friendly and attentive. We had a great time and were encouraged to come back on a Monday, when they have all day happy hour and other snack specials, so I will be back for sure! Vegetarian options: There is a large selection of vegetarian options. Almost all the appetizers, sides, and desserts are vegetarian, and there are lots of vegetarian entrees as well. Dietary restrictions: My vegetarian friend came to lunch with me and they were able to make her items vegan for her. They use their own corn tortillas (which are delicious), so most of their stuff is gluten free. They also clearly label dairy free items as well. Parking: This is in the heart of Carytown, so theres a lot of street parking, but it all depends on the time of day and your personal luck/timing how close youll get. Kid-friendliness: Its super cute and the booths are a lot of fun! I have not bring my kids here yet, but its a place theyd enjoy. I imagine it gets a bit busy on the weekends though.
You can tell how much attention is put into the experience at lolita s. As soon as you walk in, you notice the beautiful interior design and colorful aesthetic that gives you an authentic upscale Mexican vibe. Everything we had was delicious, and the grilled octopus is a must-have! I highly recommend checking this place out and coming during happy hour to catch the great deals on the unique cocktails!
Super bland food. Even the salsas (described as mild, medium and hot) were all pretty mild. The food was a huge disappointment. Carne Asada fries were super soggy. Steak was over cooked. Tuna ceviche lacked flavor, only could taste lime. Fish tacos were fried into oblivion, just tasted like oil and mayo slaw. The mushroom quesadilla was soggy. Not worth the price at all. If you want tasty Mexican food go to Conejo!
Took my girlfriend on St. Patrick s day and we had a great meal. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very inviting, and we had very attentive service. The food quality was very good considering the reasonable price point. Although I don t usually revisit restaurants, I would consider doing so for Lolita s.
Excellent service , excellent food and flavors. Will definitely be back .
The service and food was outstanding. Very authentic Hispanic food. The corn crumble cake for dessert is awesome. This is definitely a place to try out.
Decent drink deals, beautiful interior, stern waiting service with mediocre/overpriced food. Go see the Ben Eisenburg Trio here though theyre awesome.
I totally recommend this restaurant! Great food, amazing drinks, friendly and professional service, plus a beautiful place. If you want to have a different experience with Mexican food, you have to go to Lolitas
scammers prepare to hear from my lawyer. Food
first of all, we had to wait 30 + minutes for our reservation, and got sat a half hour past our time. we were also NOT TOLD there was a cake fee, and we cannot find it on the website. they offered to take the cake from us and did not let us know there was a fee. I called and they said it was on the website, but it was not on the website. food was okay, but the smallest portions in the world. why did i pay 13 dollars for something smaller than the palm of my hand? also, my friends got quesadillas and were charged more than what was on the menu. they also offered free guacamole for our wait but charged us anyways. will not be coming back. decor was cute though, and service was okay.
Please update your menu online as I ordered quesadillas that stated $15 when I had to pay $16. The drinks were ok as I ordered the free spirits N/A marg and it was very water down. The food portion is too small and you are paying a lot for it. I was would say this place is okay won t go here again.
We waited over 30 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation way in advance. Food was okay. I got the chicken quesadillas and the amount of food was not worth the price they charge by a landslide. My friend got toastadas . look at the palm of your hand . and that s the amount of food you get. They had a mocktail special and we got the margaritas but it was very watered down. I won t be going again. The only plus is that the guacamole is good and the decor is cute so if you wanna come & take pictures for your instagram, it s worth a shot. Overall, very disappointed.
For the price, the experience wasn t worth it. I paid over thirty dollars to be seated late, a waitress who didn t put an effort to be welcoming in the slightest (although, I wouldn t either if I was working at Lolita s too). I ordered the tuna ceviche and it looked subpar compared to the other pictures I saw online. Furthermore they forgot to give me my toasted tortillas so the ceviche was way overpowering at first because of that. When i finally got them half way through my meal, it tasted a little better but it was still a subpar meal for the cost. I didn t appreciate the fact that it should ve been assumed that there was a cost for bringing a cake and overall my wallet is now in sorrow and pain for this sorry experience and I think the name of this story is interesting.
There were many things that made my experience eating there sub par. The positives were the decor and flavor of the food. Our reservation was at 7:30 but we didn t get seated till 8. They told us they would provide appetizers at no charge to make up for it but they charged us for it in the end. We had call them afterwards to clear it up and they showed no empathy. Their waiting area was barely enough space to let people walk pass us. There were almost 10 people squeezed into the area and spilling into other people s dining area with people still waiting outside. They charged me $16 for my steak quesadillas and the menu said it s $15. I got 2 palm sized quesadillas which were good, but I was expecting a larger portion for the price. Our server was very short with us and didn t check on us. Parts of our orders didn t come till we were half way done with our food. We ran out of water but she was very quick to leave the table so it was hard to catch her. We were not informed of a cake fee and we couldn t find it on the website that the menu was on where it would normally be and we were told that we should have expected it. The non alcoholic margaritas tasted like the ice had melted already. All in all, I was excited to eat here in the beginning but my expectations were quickly let down
We had the guacamole starter, chorizo bowl, carne asada tacos, brussel sprouts, potatoes & the flan. Chefs kiss--it was all really good and our server was really sweet. Fast service. Definitely recommend. You will need a reservation for dinner on the weekend--we just decided to do brunch the next day instead. Great decision. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free options!
Best Mexican restaurants in Richmond city
The Food, drinks, ambiance and customer service were great! Overall experience was excellent!
I had another AMAZING dinner and drinks at Lolita s!! The drinks and food were delicious and the service was good!! Looking forward to going back this week. Vegetarian options: There are some delicious vegetarian options Parking: I never have an issue finding free parking.
Love this place!
A great place, with the best cocktail of Richmond
We love lolitas! Food is awesome and we always enjoy with family and friends!
My husband Wyn Brown and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal there today. The atmosphere and the food could not have been surpassed.
Had a terrific dinner at Lolitas. Cute vibe, fun lighting. Very cool booths, though we didnt sit in one. Really great mocktails. Pear drink was delish. Guacamole with fresh chips. The pear salad was so yummy. Pollo asado tacos really tasty. Be sure to order the bunelos dessert. Food
This place is amazing! The dining room is beautiful and airy. Somehow it s elegant, modern and casual all at the same time. The staff was awesome and very accommodating. The dinner menu is great, and I love the brunch menu even more! I leave stuffed and having thoroughly enjoyed myself every visit. They can get busy so I would advise making reservations.
$20 for two, 5 inch tacos is criminal. Portion size disappoints for mediocre food at a high price. No complimentary chips and dip
Great great place to eat! Really good food the pastor tacos are awesome
I recently had the pleasure of hosting a celebration for my husbands swearing-in at Lolitas in Richmond, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the initial planning stages to the execution on the day of the event, every detail was handled with care, professionalism, and a personal touch that truly made our day special. Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Karina, one of the managers at Lolitas, who went above and beyond to ensure that our celebration was flawless. Karina was responsive, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She accommodated our unique requests with enthusiasm, helping to set up the table with personalized decorations and ensuring that everything was in place for a wonderful surprise for my husband. The food at Lolitas was delicious. We preordered snacks for our group, which were a hit with all our guests. The drinks were even better, complementing the food perfectly and contributing to the festive atmosphere of our celebration. For anyone looking for a venue to host a special event or simply to enjoy a great meal with exceptional service, I cannot recommend Lolitas in Richmond highly enough. They have not only met but exceeded our expectations, making our celebration a memorable one. Thank you, Lolitas, and a huge thank you to Karina for making our day so special!
Lolita s embodies traditional mexican culture. The food is flavorful and made from scratch. I enjoy coming here for happy hour! My favorite go to are carne asada fries and tuna tostada. Quality food and good vibes, definitely will be back.
The food here is amazing!
One of my go-to spots for delicious cocktails and amazing food!! The vibe is on point, and the staff is so warm and welcoming you feel right at home. Plus, I love having a Latin, woman-owned business here in Richmond
Food was okay, vibe was very cute. Loved that it was women owned!! Did not understand the check policy. They do not allow for an individual checks, they only split the check per the table and not per person at the table. ( this is nowhere in sight at the table or on the menu to display) We also attempted to break a $20 bill for the tip for the serve, in which the restaurant did not have any change in the entire restaurant to break the change. Drinks are okay, and food was seasoned well but happy hr drinks were the only thing worth coming back.
Absolutely stunning scenery and great food quality! I went on Valentine s day, and we were treated with so much respect and kindness by all of the staff; they came around with polorid cameras and took cute pictures of all of the couples and families they truly made this a romantic and unforgettable valentine s day! Additionally, I had a stomach surgery which prohibits me from eating a lot of items and quantities on the menu, and the manager and staff gladly accommodated their menu to fit my dietary needs. I found this notable, giving many restaurants are unable to provide the correct accommodations/ preferences for those who have dietary restrictions. 10/10 food and 10/10 staff!! Thank you all for an amazing Valentine s day
So yummy and authentic! Server could have been warmer, but was quick and efficient.
Everything about Lolitas was beautiful. The happy hour deals allowed us a taste of most things.
Absolutely amazing place! First of all, the decoration of all the place is so beautiful and tasteful, I really enjoyed it. Especially the toilets! They are colorful and fun The food is delicious!!! And cocktails!! Omg, not only they taste good, but they served and garnished top notch. The last, but the best important - the service. Wonderful! We got lucky and met the owner, and she is so welcoming and nice! We really enjoyed our time in Lolita s and will come back very soon
The atmosphere and interior decor were amazing. Additionally the food was quite good, and the staff and owner/manager were friendly.
You can taste the freshness. Came with my son he really enjoyed the tacos. Good service. Quality food.
Loved the atmosphere. Servers were awesome and attentive but the FOOD portion was the cutest I have ever seen. The guacamole was 12$ but I think they only put 1/2 of avocado. I was really bothered by the guacamole coz I love it and this restaurant offers the tiniest guacamole serving I have ever seen in my life. So if you are on a diet and not on a budget, this is the place for you. For some people this works, but not for me. Its significantly overpriced and not a good value for me.
Outrageously priced for a portion of food that would not satisfy a pet hamster. The side of beans was most definitely from a can- yet cost $4 extra. My date and I spent $45 (without tip) and left hungry. With that being said, the service and speed in which we received our food was average. If you have money to burn- this is the place for you. If you plan on retiring maybe go elsewhere.
If you love overpriced, small portioned, mid quality Mexican cuisine I highly recommend! For some credit, I did enjoy the sauces that came with the meal. Staff was kind and attentive, but my date and I left feeling hungry after paying over $40 for 4 small quesadillas with only cheese and a protein.
Food and drinks were good and speedy. It is loud in the restaurant. My biggest complaint was the pre-calculated gratuity on the POS system included sales tax in the total, which I did not notice until after the fact. So if you want to truly tip 20%, you have to look at the subtotal, select other, and calculate it yourself. I find it shady when restaurants do this and it makes me not want to return.
Place is very cute and food is amazing however staff was very dismissive and did not acknowledge me at all.
This is my second time dining at Lolitas and I won t be coming back. The staff isn t pleasant at all. This is the second time I wasn t acknowledged when walking in. I had to ask to be seated. My server wasn t friendly neither. The food & atmosphere is good.
October 1st, we came to catch the closing film st the Byrd Theater for the Richmond Film Festival. The restaurant as quiet. The staff was very pleasant and actually treated us as valued guests, giving suggestions. Our grilled octopus was fantastic! We shared 2 sets of tacos. Found a mezcal we had not tried with help from our server, Mario and the bartender. We returned after the movie. Enjoyed sitting at the bar discussing mezcals and sotols. Will certainly return!
We had been looking forward to trying Lolitas. It was a lovely day and they opened up the front window and it was really nice to get some fresh air. We all enjoyed our drinks. Three people had bloody Mary s and I had that the hibiscus iced tea that was yummy, they have alcoholic and virgin drinks. We really enjoyed our queso the guac we thought was OK, but could ve used more of a punch. While her entrées looked beautiful we thought they were lacking. My boyfriend and I had Chilaquiles. We did not get our potatoes that were supposed to come with it and I didn t realize that till later, but we just didn t think that it was very good. We liked her pickled onions, but it was more like a light nacho. I have to say the chips at this place are the star of the day. We would give it another try, but was a little disappointed by breakfast.
Awesome authentic Mexican food with delightful drinks and service. Craft cocktails taste fresh from Tulum and the dishes were really tasty. Tuna Ceviche and Soy Chorizo tacos were excellent along with Brussel sprouts.
Excellent service and quite a different decor. While my breakfast (Chorizo) was flavorful and good, my friends said that their food was OK and not that flavorful. Guac as appetizer was good. Overall a place we will go back to. Wheelchair accessibility: Door at street pavement level.
Fun fun atmosphere with attentive staff and an approachable upscale menu
Cute fancy Mexican restaurant on Cary Street. Got the queso fundido with chorizo and asada tacos which was good. Got a passion fruit mocktail which was decent. Service was good. Made reservations for 3 on early Sunday evening and it wasnt packed at all.
Great food and drinks with very pleasant service. Such fun presentation with my drink!
Zinha How have I never written a review for Lolita? My third time visiting this place and it is awesome. Firstly, its A LOT of food and its seemingly healthy ... I like healthy. The ingredients are always fresh, the staff is always friendly and the service is always quick. I just like the atmosphere at Lolita. I love fish/seafood and theirs is so delicious. Their Pollo tacos, salads, guacamole, entres, etc, is sooo good and fresh and tasty. Everything is exquisite and adorable. I highly highly recommend this restaurant. Very different from any mexican restaurant I visited in the past. If youre visiting Richmond dont miss out on eating at Lolita
Great cocktails and good food! We love the atmosphere, as well.
What creative food and cocktails! Expensive but great for a special event Or gathering.
One of my fav restaurants the food, drinks & service is amazing! The vibe and ambience is also very nice! Definitely a go-to restaurant in RVA!!! And the Grilled Octopus is insanely good!
Excellent. EVERYTHING is excellent. Every time. The staff, the cocktails, the apps, the food, the decor, and even the hand soap in the bathrooms. QUALITY through and through. Best restaurant in Richmond, imo.
It s difficult to mess up Mexican food, but Lolita s found a way. The menu is lackluster, portions are minuscule, and options are radically overpriced yet underwhelming. Most of the food was bland and left a lot to be desired. Plan to have a second meal later in the night to compensate for the petite portions here. Sadly, some members of our dining group had poor reactions to the food later that night We had a reservation and staff sat us much later than our reservation time without any explanation for the delay. Staff were not knowledgeable about the cuisine and were not attentive to the table. Do not recommend. Vegetarian options: Poor vegetarian options which lacked in flavor.
Have eaten here a few times and has never been wonderful but I feel the quality of the food has gone down. Queso was just melted cheese, not able to dip chips into it. Two of our orders were messed up. An app and drink didn t come. Food was mid. Disappointed
Reasons I loved Lolita s: SERVICE: Hostess found a way to get us in despite it being booked. The waitress gave drink recs that aligned really well with my preferences. FOOD: Fish tacos and Christmas cocktails were delish! They did not skimp on the fish! The tortillas fell apart a bit, but only because they were so full. Everything came with 3 salsa options I found all 3 to be relatively mild. The guacamole is a very small serving. MUSIC: The live jazz musicians played softly enough I could still easily hear my friend.
