Great service. I was about to leave a generous tip until I noticed that a 20% was already on the check. Could be that there was a warning on the menu that the tip would be included.

Can t believe how many years this place has been in business and all the family history that has continued to operate this great breakfast and lunch atmosphere. It still remains clean , staff was friendly, service was timely and food was delicious. The restaurant owner has created a wonderful culture and environment and her daughter will always be my a special friend to me

Had breakfast here the service was poor extremely slow the food was tasteless and we found hair in the food spoke to who was in charge and showed them that hair was in our food and they still charged me $40 never again and I strongly recommend that you choose a different place to eat

Mcleans is da bomb baby! Diner food and my go to breakfast spot. Now guess what! THEY HAVE MIMOSAS NOW! Just when ya thought ya couldnt improve the wheel they add alcohol and no more waiting in line to pay as ya leave. Come get u some Mcleans!

Horrible food have been there several times and always good but not this time, food was extremely over cooked and server once she took our order she never came back. I went to counter to ask for my ticket and see server coming in the door from outside with a co worker obviously had gone to smoke. The manager was no better she had cook to fix one of the items burnt but didn t offer to do both peoples food and still took the check for $31 don t waste your time go somewhere else

My wife and I came in today for breakfast. I ordered pancake platter with salmon cakes. After tasting salmon cakes I told waitress they were very salty. Instead of offering a replacement she offered me tartar sauce. Hellllllo they still will be salty then she walks away. So I didn t have a protein as on the menu. My wife ordered cheese grits came with a slice of American cheese on top (SMH). Waitress returns with check, to my surprise a 20% gratuity was added. If you are adding gratuities automatically, you should post it so customers can see or give service that s worth it. I also left this message on receipt! Parking: Small space

I really enjoyed our visit there with my family. The down home comfy atmosphere was well received and the food was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants a good meal.

I had the bacon egg and cheese bagel with home fries and it was really good!

Delicious breakfast. You don t go to McLeans for the atmosphere. You go for the tasty breakfast and the quick service

Parking is typical for downtown. There s a parking lot in the rear. Food was worth the price.

My hubby had the breakfast sandwich with cooked apples, he said they both were the best hes ever had. I had the breakfast platter with home fries with onions, it was all very good. We will be back again

All I have to say is, Southern comfort. If you want to have a wonderful breakfast in a tasty lunch with a side order of Peace of mind. McLean restaurant is the place to go to and have a seat.

The for the 4 star is the gratuity was already taken out. Shouldnt it be up to the customer? Ashleys service was great!!

I love McLeans! The daily specials are all delicious. The recipes used are in the finest tradition of southern cooking. The biscuits...super yum! Finding vegetables cooked the way I love from my childhood in Virginia is a gift. The wait staff is friendly attentive, and efficient. Parking: The lot at the back entrance accommodates many cars

Food was great! Location was perfect. Parking could be more apparent to a driver. Constantly refilling coffee by host which was great. Amazing pricing!

The food was great, catfish was seasoned to perfection, pancakes were also the best I ever had. My only issue is having gratuity included automatically, Our server was not attentive to our table at all, we got the menus and it took close to 15 minutes for her to come take our order, only after making eye contact with her while she stood behind the counter talking, we had to ask another server for drink refills. And no they were not extremely busy at the time.

We love McLeans. My mom has been going here since her college days and now we visit whenever we are in town. Never disappointed with the service or the food. And we LOVE their ice, lol, they have the good ice!

The reason I give it 4 stars is because when I got my bill, the gratuity was already taken out. Thats unacceptable in my opinion. Sad part is she would have been tipped better if I tipped on my own.

It was good not amazing like the gushing reviews had me expecting. The one thing I don t recommend there is the chicken fried chicken as it was a premade frozen chicken patty like you d see at a grocery store. But other than that, you ll get a fair breakfast.

I noticed an employee blowing her nose twice while working and never went to wash her hands I bought it to the hostess attention and was brushed off.

Food was good! Prompt, pleasant, and courteous service. Guest are not rushed through their meal to make space for the next customer. I will be returning for certain.

We love, love, love this place. Its across town from where we live so we only visit when we have medical appointments in the area. We have visited three times in the past month and it has never disappointed us. The servings are generous, the prices cant be beat and the service is outstanding. Everyone there appears to like their job and it shows in their work! Parking: Small tight area for parking, but there is always a spot available.

Great food, attentive service, good portion sizes for your money. I enjoyed my BLT and my friend loved their biscuits and sausage gravy.

Food was ok, scrambled eggs were underdone. We had hands down the worst experience ever with our waitress. It was like she was going out of her way to avoid us. The only way we could any service was to grab other staff. It took us an hour and a half from seating to leaving for coffee eggs and pancakes. My wife used to be a waitress and she always tips and this the only time in our life we weren t going to tip. When she finally brought the check over after we had to get staff to get her, 20% gratuity included. This place sucks.

Very unprofessional. - I got the breakfast bowl + fries and the bowl was fine, but not how I expected it to be, but I barely ate my food because of how cold it was. We waited almost 1 hour for our food just for the cooks to lose our ticket. A few people walked maybe about 15 minutes after we sat down and got their food within 15+ minutes. I do not, do not, recommend coming here. McDonald s breakfast would ve been better than this. Me nor my mother ate our food, the food did not come out as expected. Don t come.

Well Maclean doesn t disappoint! Although I m not too happy about the 20% that was added to the ticket. Considering I usually tip 30%. I think instead of reviewing your 20% gratuities sign we will just patronize another business.

I guess Richmond s clientele has gotten so bad at tipping this place is now adding 20% for their service. Great food! Very clean! No complaints here, great service and they deserve way more than they get anyway. Visited May 20th 7:00Am. Sat in first booth to the right. 100 percent satisfied.

Great food however, the omelet had green pepper and onions uncooked and tossed all over the top and inside. I Spoke to management. Stated you have to ask for them to be caramelized when ordering.

It was a rainy Saturday.. Our wait time was about an hr due to it being a party of 11, for some reason it seems like the entire Richmond gets the same idea on rainy days lol. Service was great, atmosphere was good but the food was superb !!!!

Get the Overstuffed Omelet - it is not good but rather it is glorious! Such a wonderful meal! So many items inside its hard to believe! Parking: It can be tight to park sometimes when its busy.

We had a delicious first visit to McLeans. The food was very good overall and timing was very acceptable. My wife expressed that the cheesy grits needed a little more flavor. Our server, I believe her name was Sarah, was very good and attentive. Stopped at the table just often enough to make sure we were good. Will come back if we are in the area again. Parking is in the back near the entrance.

The food is really good, but their host was really, really rude. We had someone in our party that was late and she went out of our way to tell us that he couldnt sit in an empty seat. We dealt with it and our late friend didnt sit with us. But I found the interaction very off-putting and it was borderline harassment.

I didn t order a meal, just a bunch of different sides because I wasn t sure what I wanted. The salmon cake was my favorite, but everything came out really good. My bacon came out just the way I asked and my server Tammy was absolutely amazing! 10/10 :)

Look, I know I have a number of 4 and 5 star reviews, Im visiting these places based on recommendations. Man, this one doesnt disappoint. I mean home cookin, like someones grandma was in the back. Fried herring fish, salmon cakes, and scrapple-HUGE PORTIONS. Gotta visit this one if youre in Richmond. Based on the fact the owner responded within the first 24 hours, you have your 5 stars....now also add, PROFESSIONAL!

Im an out of town regular and have been eating at their old and new locations for the past 15 years. I ordered the Sheilas scramble during this time and the dish was fantastic. I also loved their biscuits and gravy especially the chopped beef. I also like their grits too. I spread the word around town about this joint and feel like I am part of the family when I visit. Lastly, I ordered the kielbasa although it seemed smaller than usual and brought it to the owners attention so hopefully, it is remedied when I visit again in April. I think their prices are realistic for the amount of food you get. Furthermore, I am not a big fan of their automatic gratuity of 20% but I have discussed the issue with the owner and her two children and I understand why it has been implemented.

So our party came in separately and we could not be seated together. When we tried putting two tables together you would of thought we were robbing them at gun point. So we sat separately although we were all in one bill. Then later on a group comes in and two tables get rearranged right next to our two separated tables. When I approached the hosted very rudely she replies are you ready for me to explain she gives me something about that it is their policy that before some time they don t set tables together! As I write this another table is place together. Very disappointed with their lack of trying to accommodate their clients. Never again!

Great local breakfast spot

My friends and I tried it today for the first time. We were seated immediately but had to wait about 1 hour for our food. We all ordered brunch type meals. My pancakes were good except the parts that werent stiff. My other friend didnt eat her pancakes at all for the same reason. Eggs were runny and bacon was too rock hard for me(I asked for soft, and the waitress did apologize about that later). Our hot teas/hot chocolate were lukewarm at best(and I did mention that). Our waitress however, was nice and kept apologizing for the wait and the service and acknowledged it was not acceptable and that there were problems in the kitchen (she didnt elaborate and i didnt ask) said she would call the owner. Nothing came of it. I didnt drink my tea, nor eat eggs or bacon and my friend didnt eat her pancakes but it was still on the bill. We tried it (paid our bills in full each) but none of us would go back or recommend it. We all left still hungry.....the reviews seemed good but maybe we just went on a really bad day. On a good note its a nice sized spot with delicious orange juice.

If I could give zero stars I would ! Went there this morning when I got off work . Got home and the food looked like this . Didnt want to judge it so I took a tiny bite and it was nasty . They have really altered over the years . Not sure if it was because it was too early or what

I usually love the food but we went late and think maybe our food was cooked in old oil.

No consistency here so be prepared for any and everything.. This would be my third time going here I usually would come for the crab cakes which I can say are very good. 1st visit everything was good except a bit pricey took the fam 3 ppl was 88 bucks atleast everything was cooked well. 2nd visit was okay Today they stated they ran out of crab cakes so I decided to order the cat fish .. cat fish was under cooked really raw .. found egg shells in my home fries in which I was feeding to my 9 month old!!! Spoke to the Owner Gionni or whoever her name to be.. She states they are short staffed. Which is understandable but yet still continue to sit ppl at tables .. the service was very poor because of that decision I even had to get up and get my own condiments after waiting on our server .. it s not his fault he was stretched thin and only hve two hands .. point is they definitely lost a customer today im sure I won t be going back . Not telling anyone else to dine there .

Everything was very good

The food was mediocre at best. Got pancakes and not the best pancakes. They were dry and not flavorful. Better pancakes at McDonalds. Tip is already included in bill so the server does not care about being hospitable. Save your money and time. I m not sure why this place is so highly rated. Please do better to match your rating.

This place was very busy Sunday morning. We had to go on the wait list for 30mins, but it was worth it!

Staff is friendly, food pretty good (love their pancakes) and pretty reasonable on the pockets. My only complaint is its so cold, so bring a jacket and there isnt much privacy in the restaurant. Its like eating with your whole family at once. Lol besides that, give them a try!!
