Rustic-chic venture offering seasonal & sustainable German-inspired plates, plus wines by the glass.
I have been on a few occasions, ones to eat with my son for dinner and the others just to relax I the ambiance and enjoy cocktails. Every time I was greatest right away and made to feel welcome. It is dim lighting and candlelit in the evening, and rustic chic describes it well. It gives the feel of fine dinig but welcoming. The menu changes regularly and it is always creative and spectacular. My son really enjoyed the fish he had and the carrot cake. The bartender is very kind and does a great lemon drop cocktail. They are so courteous to their customers and take the time to notify them ahead of there is anything going on that may affect the quality of their experience (like when the ac broke in the storm etc, the warned people walking in that it could be a little warm and called those with reservations). It truly is a wonderful spot to grab an amazing meal, cocktail, and have a wonderful experience at the same time.
Metzger has an incredible attention to detail on their menu. I am excited to return with each change of the season! The house red, a Zweigelt, is so flavorful and distinct. Cocktails are creative and well-crafted while the tap list always has something I want. Today they had Maine Lunch. We ordered the chicory salad, an herbal adventure of crisp and crunchy with a balance of bitterness and creaminess from the labneh dressing. The house-smoked local oysters followed with elegant garnishes and ingredients. Well-seasoned homemade crackers rounded out the dish, plated beautifully with tomato ‘petals’. We always enjoy the charred cabbage here. Perfectly tender and silky, savory from the bagna cauda and cured egg, with crispies from the gremolata. Dessert was a tough choice— I adore the funnel cake with sherry soaked apples!! But today we opted for the melon cake with sencha buttercream and cantaloupe Bavarian cream layered into a chiffon cake. All of the delicate flavors were so balanced and complementary. The stone fruit sundae with almond ice cream had the richest fresh cherries. Been here many times over the years and in impressed every time.
Every time I’ve been here, I’ve had an amazing experience. The service has been amazing and the variety of the menu really sets this place apart.
This was our third time at Metzger. The previous two times were amazing but this was our last. I ordered the Half chicken which was -literally- half a chicken. The foot was sticking off the plate. Apparently it’s a joke the chef enjoys playing on customers but for a $34 entree- it was extremely unappetizing. Anyways! Our waiter was amazing and very attentive. If you get anything else I’m sure you’ll love it
Amazing food selection and top knotch service. The prawns were best I've ever had! The tomato garlic and butter sauce they cook it down in is phenomenal. A must try
Did not eat here but assuming the drinks are as good as the food, I’ll go ahead and give 5 stars. Came in for cocktails on a slow Friday night—4th of July weekend. Atmosphere was nice and trendy. Bartender (Nick?) was friendly and personable. Cocktails were very good. Wished we’d had more time to stay for dinner and more drinks, but had to be elsewhere. Will be back. Especially recommend the cocktail “Life Itself”. Also had a nightly special which was a version of a mezcal negroni.
We had an amazing brunch here! Really interesting and tasty entrees and a delicious bloody mary. My friend and I both agreed the sausage patties were the best we've ever tasted. Our server was also great and very accommodating to requests. Would definitely return for brunch and would love to try dinner options some time. Thanks for a lovely experience!
Really cute hidden gem; great to have a low-key fine dining experience with friends and family. Would not recommend for parties larger than 6 people as it’s a small venue. Would 1000% recommend for girls night dessert, appetizer and drinks. Loved everything, but feel their German influence/inspiration/origins have been buried by the creative oeuvre of the chefs. Not complaining but miss having traditional german dishes and this used to be the place for that. Most of the menu is perfectly contemporary and complex in flavor, but the entrees were either too small or too salty. Loved the wine that was recommended to us, but was shocked by the wine prices. Just can’t get cheap good wine outside of Europe I guess. They have very friendly service staff; we will definitely be back.
The hasenpfeffer was shockingly good, and the Something Seasonal cocktail tasted just like Christmas morning. Amazing!
Top notch spot. World class dining. The menu rotates, but its exquisite. Steak Mette melts in your mouth, Hasenpfeffer was reimagined breaded and fried on cheesy grits and was out of this world. Half Chicken also perfect as was the Spätzle. Service was a delight as well, cant wait to come back.
Very unique place. Great food and service.
Not great. The food was decent but the environment is very uncomfortable. I also have been hearing that they discriminate against people who disagree with them politically. I didnt experience anything like that however if it is true, that is very disappointing and something to watch out for. I did google an incident and you can Look it up yourself and you will see that they refused service based on a group of peoples religious views. When a restaurant is more focused on a political agenda than serving people, the experience is tarnished. Hopefully they can grow from this because God should bring us together.
What is the awful smell in this restaurant? Was invited with a group and we were sick to our stomachs .... the smell of soured or rotting food ingredients was over whelming. No thank you!
We arrived early and found it to be a great little unique location that paid attention to detail. We were almost an hour early for our reservation and willing to wait but they were able to accommodate us and seated us promptly. The service was great, the food and drink even better. Highly recommend.
terrible food terrible service terrible people hopefully the health department or the FBI will step in and shut this place down
I thought the food wasn t great for the prices. Also, please don t mistake this for a German cuisine. It s more European influenced. Not great.
Had a great meal! Good service! Thanks!
Pink Room Concrete Watermelon salad Perfection Food : 5/5 |
Far left establishment that discriminates conservatives. I know I will definitely avoid this place...Lord knows what they might do to the food they bring to customers.
All the food was amazing! Delicious combinations of flavors and textures made for a great experience. Loved the corn, the bread, the chicken schnitzel with the mushrooms (especially the mushrooms), the kale... Some of the best food I have had in Richmond! Service was excellent and on point! Would love to go back and try more of their food!
The menu keeps changing and being updated with new things, which gives us reason to keep coming back and trying amazing food. Service and quality of food are fantastic each and every time.
Had to cancel due to a severely sick family member and card charged. Will not be trying this place. Unimpressed.
What a great place to sit and dine with friends and family. The food is a little pricey but that shouldnt keep you away, we all know that great food is worth a little bit more. This is a must stop see and eat while youre in Richmond.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Metzger Bar and Butchery, and I was blown away by the experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food at Metzger was absolutely incredible. I started off with the charcuterie board, which was filled with an assortment of delicious cured meats and cheeses. For my entree, I had the pork schnitzel, which was cooked to perfection and served with a side of tangy sauerkraut and crispy fried potatoes. But the real star of the show was the butchery. The restaurant sources its meats from local farms, and the quality really shows. The meats are all expertly prepared, and the selection is impressive. Whether youre in the mood for a juicy steak or a hearty sausage, youll find something to love at Metzger. Overall, I would highly recommend Metzger Bar and Butchery to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great, and the staff is top-notch. If youre in the area, be sure to stop by and give it a try!
4 of us were able to get a Sat night reservation when we visited Richmond. Very comfortable place to walk into. We tasted some great German beers and then our food came. The salad with swirled Feta cheese was out of this world. If the meal ended then We all would be coming back just for that. We also had middleneck clams that were steamed perfect in onion soup based cream sauce and Tiger prawns as appetizers. The main courses were excellent. Chicken schnitzel, Risotto over broccoli, veal in ravioli type noodle, and the hit of the night, Venison. This piece of meat was so will prepped and cooked youd have thought it was a filet mignon. My wife who would normally pass on the venison loved it. The desserts were great. I may just go back for the salad and the must have Halva sundae. You need to go to this little gem in Richmond. Fantastic service and food that is beyond your expectations. Almost fogot the rolls that come out in a small cast iron skillet are my only complaint. There were only 4 of these delicious light perfect rolls. I could have eaten 4 myself. Go to Metzgers you wont be disappionted.
Amazing food and atmosphere, been wanting to try this for a while and it was as great as I could have hoped.
Small place yet no service. You can not change things on the menu. Such as if it has sunny eggs thats what u get. Can not change the way something is cooked
Delicious food, this Richmond eatery treats you right! New favorite spot
Service at Metzger is the absolute worst, and the food is overpriced for what it is (which isnt anything noteworthy). Much better service and food can be found elsewhere. Wish I would have skipped this place.
My husband and I always have an amazing experience at this restaurant! We went for brunch and had the most amazing meal and service! We cannot wait to come back and try even more.
Went to Metzger for the first time yesterday for brunch. The atmosphere and service were lovely but the food itself was amazing - the fresh ingredients, refined cooking techniques, and careful attention to detail were really top notch. I cant wait to go back. What a gem.
Just wanted to thank yall for such a wonderful Valentines Day dinner. I had never dined with yall before and everything - from the ambience to the service to the food - was impeccable. I know Valentines Day can be a doozy, so wanted to let yall know how much my partner and I enjoyed our experience. Can wait to return and try more of your dishes and specialty cocktails!
Stay away they are a biased organization!
Extremely friendly employees - always great food. Amazing service. Will always come here on way through.
This place is an imitation of what a person who has never been to Germany looks like. The quality is cheap and is sold as gourmet. The staff had no idea what they were talking about and were very arrogant. I dare say he seemed uneducated. We wanted to feel a touch of home during our visit and felt we should have done something from Lidl instead. Judging by the other reviews, they are also fanatics and such an intolerant place would not be legally welcome in Germany.
Dinner really wowed me and my wife here recently. Everything we had was amazing. We hadnt been to Metzger in 6 years and we definitely wont let it take that long to go back again.
Delicious food and drinks, and great service. A unique experience in rva. Recommend the schnitzel!
One of the best places in RVA. Hands down.
Amazing service, food was fantastic. Will be back!
GREAT PLACE <3
Kid-friendliness: They had a great chicken schnitzel for kids! My 6-year-old niece loved it. :)
The food their is pricy but absolutely delish ish. Great place for a casual date
Incredible establishment with high levels of ethics and human decency!
After walking in a seeing a roach crawl out from under a table I left immediately. Dirty place to dine. Very disappointing..
Amazing as always!
Food served cold
Food is way overpriced and service is terrible.
Keep Doing what you do. Thanks!
Sure way to get food poisoning. Disgusting staff habits.
BEWARE! ROACH MOTEL! I went a few days ago to have lunch with my wife and seen a cockroach on the floor near the bar. As we exited the building I seen 2 more.. Will not be returning.
wonderful place , will always come by when in town . staff was amazing and is now on my list to grab a meal when Im in town or stopping through
Wonderful staff
Excellent restaurant. Not only serving great food but they care about their employees.
Came here with friends who got us a reservation after some difficulty finding the reservation when we got there. We got the charcuterie board which had an old meat on it, I didnt realize it until I was chewing it that it clearly was bad...putrid smell to it. Told the server but they said it was supposed to be like that. Not sure which meat it was but it definitely bad. After eating here, I got severe vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea for two days...it was most likely food poisoning as per the urgent care doctor as I had no other symptoms of flu or anything. Honestly as horrible as the food poisoning was from the bad meat, Im just glad no one else tried the meat only the cheese, so they were safe. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Will never return to Metzgers.
Horrible service and the food was trash!!! Don t recommend
Great food, definitely worth the money, amazing service, good atmosphere, good drinks. Great people! 10/10 would recommended.
Great experience. Had the radicchio salad and the sourdough pappardelle. Both were phenomenal. The service was attentive and friendly. A bit on the pricey side. Don t believe Google expect to pay between $80-100 per person for a full meal and a drink or two. Still, the price is more than worth it for the quality.
Its a dump. I live in Fredericksburg, and suggest you give this place a pass. There are so many GOOD places to go to...why cheapen yourself? And the servers are very uppity. DO NOT discuss politics in this place! In fact, dont discuss anything in here...go somewhere else.
Wonderful food and service, couldn t have been happier with my experience!!!
Dirty and staff is horrible. Dining is about an experience not just pretty food. Unfortunately staff make this not a good experience
Good food, the food is much different here and it wasn t really my type of food. It s a bit more on the bitter kinda side. If this is more your pallet, you must go try this. If not. This place will be interesting lol.
Food is always great!
Great food! NOTE: reservations highly recommended
Beautiful brunch date, food was amazing!
One gets a strange vibe in this place, almost like it is a abattoir. The food is very average, but the rest is sub par - ambience, service and prices. Avoid.
Awful hateful restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Not Accessible
Food was mediocre. Service was terrible. I will not be back. If I could I would give it a 1/2 star.
Fabulous food. Service is top notch. We highly recommend Metzers. Will be back soon.
The waitress told me that the Holy Bible that I had on the table bothered her. My wife and I were discussing Bible study with my kids after Church. The waitress gave us a hostile attitude when she was taking our order. We were concerned about this waitress handling our food, so my Wife and I decided to leave. Kid-friendliness: My children were upset by the waitress hostile attitude.
I was in a group of 8 and overall we had a decent experience. Personally, I thought everything was a touch salty and it was odd how much the portion sizes differed based on what was ordered. Two of got clams with only 3 clams per serving. There was more bread than clams for a $17 price tag. Other people got schnitzel and mushroom pasta, both being good sized portions. The flavors were well developed, if a little salty, but the differing portions sizes were noticeable and felt odd. Those of us who got the clams felt like we got app portions while our friends enjoyed entree portions. We also had to split our own bill because it came out as one check and the only way they could divide it was evenly among the 8 of us; but I wasn t about to pay anymore than $17 for my 3 clams. I was excited about trying Metzger but left feeling slightly underwhelmed.
One of the best dinner spots in Richmond. A perfect place to mark a special occasion or to simply indulge. Try the liver or the wine! Edit: this place is being review bombed for political reasons. Any discerning patron can tell the difference between legitimate reviews and political brigading.
This place is absolutely delicious and impressive every time I ve visited I feel so lucky to have this place in my neighborhood because on top of that they re brave enough to take a public stand on defending human rights.
Service was slow and food was gross. I blame my local advisor for this recommendation. Parking was easy to find.
easily one of the best restaurants in richmond. the elegance of the textural blends, flavor combinations that are simultaneously comforting and nuanced are divine. the meyer lemon sorbet was stunning, the schnitzel was shockingly light and carefully paired with a celery salad and the daintiest mustard. love.
Richmond has a wealth of great places to eat, drink, and socialize. Prices are way up these days across the board in the jOE bRIBEN economy, so when we are in the mood for a great restaurant experience, great food, which will cost us some hard earned $$, we have found Grisette is the place to go. Also, their staff is genuinely personable and professional. The Butchery...not so much.
We ate here last week. It s a nice atmosphere. However, I ordered the pork chop and it was very tough and overcooked. The waitress was okay but there was a pretentiousness when she spoke to us. My girlfriend is incredibly friendly with wait staff because she was once a server but even she acknowledged the air of annoyance with which she spoke. My girlfriend seems to think it s because we didn t purchase alcohol and drank water therefore our total bill wouldn t be very high. Apparently if a server gets the idea that the tip won t be a preconceived amount, some will check out and not even try after that. What she didn t know was that we are pretty generous with our tips. However, her attitude relegated a simple 20%. We likely will not be back.
Fresh Flavors, absolutely unique flavor profiles, exciting plating, 1st class service. This little spot has it all. My friends and I were blown away with our experience last night. I have to say that getting to walk through the owners herb garden, that grows along the patio outside, made the night whole. Elderberries, nasturtium, calendula so many things to nourish the body. What a smash!! Vegetarian options: Lots of sexy little options. We enjoyed a take on morels
Service was ok, food was not great and the portions were small.
One of the best dining experiences you can have!
two of us got 3 apps and a main to share: beans and greens, sunchoke, clams, and schnitzel. overall a good experience- good vibes, good service, good drinks, good quantities (except the clam dish was just 3 clams), really quality ingredients. the food was disappointing due to seasoning. all dishes distinctly lacked acid (freshness? brightness?) and were overly salty. we LOVE salty food, so its the combo of salt and no acid that made the meal feel like a bit of a slog: everything tasted flat. this is a reflection of personal preferences, so simply providing this review so others can make informed decisions.
Metzgers is an intimate dining experience with immaculate attention to details such as quality ingredients and creative presentation. The restaurant is small and unpretentious, but the food and cocktails are surprisingly elevated and feature a constantly rotating menu of exciting seasonal cuisine. You get the impression that everyone who works there has both experience and passion for their art, and that you could take anyone from your boss to your new date to your most critical foodie friend there to impress without, well, seeming like you re trying to impress. It s truly a gem, and I look forward to dining there again. Dietary restrictions: I have Celiacs and am incredibly sensitive to gluten. They were so attentive to my needs and made me feel incredibly safe in eating there with no guilt at what can sometimes seem a huge burden to restaurants. I have no doubt that they treat all allergens with similar respect.
The
This was better than I remember it. The fresh take on locally sourced food. Cocktails are amazing. Overall dinning experience is lovely. Staff friendly and attentive. One of our favorites spots.
Had an amazing dinner here. The service was impeccable and the staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. They were sensitive to dietary restrictions and were willing to make minor modifications upon request. The food was artful and delicious! Would recommend as a place to try if you are visiting Richmond. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options! Dietary restrictions: The staff were very sensitive to dietary restrictions and modification requests.
I just loved everything about it. one of my favorite meals Ive had since moving to Virginia. Service was fantastic, we shared a bunch of plates at the table and loved every bite. (The Schnitzel is to die for). The cocktails (both the on-the-menu specials and just standard cocktails) were excellent, and definitely get the dessert.
Everything was amazing! 10 outa 10 would recommend Food
Overpriced and lousy aloof service. Not returning.
My husband and I tried this place for brunch today. It was both our first time here, but it will definitely NOT be our last. The food was absolutely amazing! Delicious! We split the Pork Schnitzel with gravy and the Charcuterie Board. All we could manage to say in between bites were things like Wow! And How have we not been here before?! . So freakin good! My Brunch Punch drink paired well with the food. 1000% recommend
The servers give off an air of superiority while talking to you which is difficult to understand as the food is served cold and obviously from the day before. I was hesitant to say something as the server made it clear that they were the ones handling your food. I did not feel comfortable in this restaurant.
Run, do not walk to Metzger Bar & Butchery! The food is so delicious, the service amazing and the atmosphere incredible. I saw the chef on Triple Threat with Bobby Flat on the Food Network and when they shared she had a German restaurant in Richmond, VA I could not wait to make reservations (bonus points that she is a fellow Midwestern like myself). I went into the meal with very high expectations and I assure you they exceeded those expectations ten fold. We started with the radicchio salad which was amazing with a cashew tahini. I had the schnitzel and my husband got a beef cheek, both were delicious and we finished every bite. I grew up with my Omi cooking all of the most delicious things and when I tell you Metzger gave me all of the warm loving feelings with food as Omis kitchen did, that is no under statement. As my husband and I waited for our Uber after the meal we agreed that it was probably one of the best meals we have ever had. If the food is not enough to get you there, the service is outstanding. The staff was friendly, shared recommendations, super informative and made the meal even better. Thank you so much Metzger Bar & Butchery for an incredible experience. We cant wait to come back.
Love this place! Great brunch! Third time we have been here, and I love how the menu is always different. Pork schnitzel and eggs were fantastic. Creative cocktails. Well definitely come back the next time were in RVA. Parking: Sometimes hard to find parking though - especially when the nearby churches are having mass.
Ignore the one star reviews from people who have never eaten here and are trying to destroy a business for political reasons. Metzger is my favorite place in Richmond it gets everything right: the ambiance, creative delicious food, great cocktails and mocktails, and great service.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere. The one star reviews are all fake. They are done for political reasons, none of them have ever been to Metzger or even live in the state. Food
When this restaurant cancelled reservations of a main stream Christian group solely because they were a Christian group and they felt they were too conservative for there way of thinking it told me they are too left wing liberal for my way of supporting their restrarant. I too can be closed minded!!
Such a lovely experience. Fresh and innovative food, fabulous drinks, ambiance was intimate and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Can t wait to come back and try more of the menu.
This place is fantastic! We have been twice and will certainly go again. You cannot order wrong, and the staff does a great job of recommendations. Highly recommend!
Everything was ok, to include menu options, wine, and food. Service was friendly and efficient, small dining room. Nothing bad, nothing great, everything was middle of the road.
Wow! Great little place! The food and service was AMAZING!!
Service was terrific. Brunch Food excellent.
Tried to order online...they have not bothered to update their website. Frustrating and they are completely booked like most restaurants now
Very fancy and good cuisine. Nothing to complain about that, this a very good true/real restaurant. But the quantities could be a bit bigger or some plates have something that fills a bit. Desserts are great too
One of the best spots in RVA. Tip 1: reserve a table. Tip 2: get everything that sounds good, it will not disappoint and is absolutely worth the price!
I love eating at Metzger. The food is delicious and its an elevated version of eating at my German grandmothers table.
The place has a great reputation but didnt live up to it. Chicken schnitzel kinda tasted like a chicken nugget. Pasta need more sauce. Menu online doesnt reflect what they are actually serving at all. Mixed drinks and beers were good. Service was prompt.
My husband and I are adventurous foodies. Before heading to Richmond, I just finished the last season of Top Chef where James Beard semifinalist Chef Brittanny Anderson, a VA native, competed. I told Steve that we have to try her resto and craft beers. Here s what we had: 1. Charcuterie Board - fine selection of meat and cheese. But the star of this plate is the chicken liver mousse paired with cornichons. Sounds gross, right? But no. It s very creamy and dreamy and just friggin heaven in your mouth! 2. Halibut with sea bean salad and pistachio. That squid ink romesco sauce hugging that juicy tender halibut was pure love. I wanted to bathe in that sauce. 3. Schnitzel with pickled veggies. That schnitzel was crisped to perfection. This dish changed my mind about pickled celeries. It s damn good. 4&5. Black pepper paplova - Who would ve thought that black pepper will go well with desserts? Outside was a red sauce of lemon verbena and raspberries and when you crack that paplova, you ll have a buried treasure of frozen yogurt and berries. I drank that red sauce like soup. 6. Stonefruit gallette was crispy and not overly sweet. That whipped creme fraische was to die for!!! Definitely one of our best eats and dining experiences in Richmond so far. This little gem did the Germans proud! PS: Kahlia was an awesome server!
Excellent!
One of the best brunches in Richmond! Cant believe it took me so long to try this one out. The Dutch baby is something I need to try next time!
Great dishes and all with a unique taste. I hear the menu changes frequently so didn t want to review a specific dish as they were all very good.
The food was excellent!
This place is lovely! Tucked into Church Hill, the food, atmosphere, and staff are on point and so charming. Food is interesting and well prepared. Drinks are yummy and mocktails are great too. Can t wait to go back soon!
Fast friendly service. Great draft beer selection
Awesome place for dinner. Great food and service
Food portions are a bit small but everything was delicious, especially the potatoes.
Excellent food and service! One of our favorite dinner spots in Church Hill!
Big fan. Great schnitzel. Well made drinks. Overall really great place. Cannot understand who would not enjoy this restaurant. Not meant for parties over 5.
Great atmosphere, food, and service. Love me some Metzger!
Metzger is an open and welcoming atmosphere with wonderful food and staff. Its a gem in Richmond and they have great values for those who are also open and welcoming.
I love eating at Metzger because I m gay
Wonderful atmosphere paired with fresh, modern takes on Bavarian cuisine. We ve been for both brunch, dinner and just drinks and I ve never been disappointed.
Incredible place to eat!
The best staff, atmosphere and food! <3
One of my absolute favorite RVA restaurants. Food, drinks, service are all amazing can t wait to come back!
Having actually eaten at Metzger a number of times I can that it s a great place.
Love Metzger and every meal there is delicious!!
A top restaurant in Richmond. The atmosphere is so cozy, the staff is welcoming and the food and drinks are delicious.
De lishhhhhhh. Cant go wrong. The schnitzel is one of the wonders of the world, how can something so simple be so perfect.
Schnitzel. Nuff said.
Inventive and delicious food + impeccable service. A wonderful addition to our vibrant dining scene in Richmond!
Always a good time.
Great people, great food. Recommend!!
Great place! Lovely menu options. Especially the maitake mushroom! They care about their community and it s rare to find a local place that invests in a good team. Unfortunately, it seems they re being attacked because they exercised their right as a private business to refuse service to a group with ill-intentions. As a business owner and restauranteur myself, supporting your employees is a top priority - without them you don t have the heart and soul of a business in the first place. In reading some of these poor reviews, those looking to cause harm are showing their true colors by trying to bring down a local, small business for simply protecting their employees. They made the right call and handled it with grace. I wouldn t subject my employees to that type of mistreatment either. Anyways, German food and beer. Great desserts, clever cocktails. Great presentation. This place is a gem.
Excellent food and a wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
I ve been a long-term patron of your establishment. I was recently informed that you cancel the reservation for a large event at the last minute , because you did not agree with the organization principles . I will never be eating at your establishment again, and I will be informing everyone that I know not to support your business. Shame on you
Always loved going to Metzger s. Delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
Great Spot, Great food!
One of the best places around. When you want to do something right you pick a lane and perfect your craft...this place does just that. Delicious, Inclusive, part of what makes Richmond dining wonderful.
Excellent food, outstanding wine list and welcoming wait staff. Try the Maitake Mushroom. They also have a great brunch!
I come here a few times a year and always love trying something different. Last time I brought my whole family and they all loved it! Their drinks, food, service, and ambiance are all on point. One of my favorite restaurants in Richmond.
Great food and their brunch is amazing.
My husband and I had a small wedding ceremony in October 2022. We had a private dinner with our families here afterward, and it was absolutely magical. Fantastic service and food. Moreover, we were (and are) so glad to support such a wonderful small business in the Richmond community. Thank you, Metzger! Parking: Easy street parking.
Food is top notch!! Service is fantastic!! Management is amazing!! I have been here several times and will continue to return and support Metzgers as well as their sister restaurant, Brenner Pass. If you want great flavor and want to enjoy it in a kind a loving atmosphere, this is the place!!
I love this restaurant so much. It s one of my go-tos when people are visiting from out of town but most recently it was the location of the small reception dinner for my friend s wedding. The staff was wonderful and so accommodating and were truly stellar. The spaetzel is deliscipus, but the mistake mushroom dish is my favorite. The owners, staff, and management are the best. I cannot recommend this spot enough!
Been to Metzger twice, once for brunch and once for dinner. Extremely cozy little spot with great wait staff, awesome cocktails and some of my favorite entrees. The chicken schnitzel is easily the best Ive ever had and Im looking forward to going back soon!
Excellent food and service! Everyone was welcoming and very attentive. I love the Chicken Schnitzel! The apple relish is amazing. Definitely one of our favorite spots in Church Hill!
Food was great. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Terrific atmosphere. A top-tier restaurant here in Richmond.
This is literally my favorite restaurant in Richmond. The food is imaginative, they accommodate various dietary needs, and the dining room is the perfect size for gathering with friends. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options. The hen-of-the-woods is my favorite offering.
Horrible food terrible service! Spend your money elsewhere!
Have always had a great experience at Metzger. The food and service are among the best in Richmond. Bonus: the owners and staff are good humans who I am happy to support.
Great cocktails and the food is spectacular!!
Too expensive, food is not good whatsoever. Servers were stuck up. Will not be returning. Avoid!
Just had dinner at Metzger last night. Been there many times and have always had a wonderful time. They care about what they are doing and it shows. The chicken schnitzel and short rib ghoulish are perfection. The bartender is a rad dude as well.
I had dinner with friends on a busy Friday night. The service was great and the food was delicious. The atmosphere can t be beat.
I have had the pleasure of eating at Metzgers many times over the years since they opened. Ive come with friends during restaurant week, brought my parents as a treat when they visited, and enjoyed more than a few date nights at the bar or a table. Every time it has been obvious that not only does Metzgers care about great food, but also about providing a great experience, that they love what they do. Schnitzel forever!
We had an amazing brunch for my mother-in-law s birthday celebration in November. The food was authentic German and the service was impeccable the perfect combination of refined and non-stuffy for a brunch atmosphere. This was our second time at Metzger but our first time for brunch and we ll definitely be back.
We love to sit at the bar, order a drink and a few apps. The food is always wonderful, but the cocktails are magical!
