ML Steak Modern Chophouse in Richmond

Maybe it was the time of day. It was very slow for a lunch hour. I was there with employees for a holiday lunch. They had the steak which they enjoyed but was pretty small for $30. I had the burger which good and recommend the truffle fries. Overall it was ok. Parking: Cheap paid lot across the street!

Service by Zach and LaFira was wonderful. The meal was delicious from the appetizers to the steaks and ultimately the chocolate cake!

We were a party of 7. Server was good. The filet (requested medium) was dry and tougher and smaller than expected. I ordered the Allagash White draft, a wheat beer known for a its foamy head and hazy color. Server brought me what looked and tasted like a pilsner. I drank a bit of it and asked the server to take it back and speak with the bartender. The server spoke with the bartender, who insisted it was the Allagash and brought me a full pour of the same. I sent that beer back because i know what an Allagash looks and tastes like and that wasnt it and ordered a different beer. I ended up being charged for both beers. $76 for a mediocre steak and mashed potatoes, beer that I sent back, and an automatic 20% tip. I would have given the 20% tip but didnt appreciate it being added automatically.

First time and was not impressed. Food was cold and mediocre for the price.

A bunch of us went for dinner after work. Kimberly Love Lindsey was really awesome! She spent time explaining all of the menu choices and provided exceptional service. The food was great, and we all really enjoyed the entire experience.

The steak was overcooked, and was less than Prime. It was flavorless, and tough. The Gluten-Free menu was LADEN with cross contamination. The crab cake was DRY, it was so dry it was hard to swallow. The crab cake was also somehow flavorless. The Mac and Cheese was the best part and it was not good, it was burnt and tasted like Kraft. Also, the Shirley Temple I ordered was just pink Sierra Mist, it tasted like plain Sierra Mist. This restaurant is not recommended.

This place was recommended to us. We were staying in Downtown Richmond for business. Walked over from our hotel. Incredibly good food and service. We had the Smoked Steelhead Trout appetizer. Cold smoked and delicious!! The toasted capers were such a unique addition. This dish was wonderful in every way. My husband had the Land and Sea burger with lobster and asparagus on it. Fabulous! I had the Filet Medallion Flight. Filets came Oscar style, herb butter House style, and Black and Blue with a blue cheese crust and fig syrup. Out of this world! We also shared the lobster truffle mac & cheese. Can t be beat! Highly recommend this place! Worth the drive to Richmond from wherever you are. Yum!!

Out of town and decided to visit the restaurant due the reviews and after waiting awhile they announced they had no chicken and had to run and get more. Mind you the restaurant was empty and it was 2pm. They were nice though to ask us if we wanted something while we waited.

From the moment you step into this steakhouse in Richmond, you re met with nothing but top-notch customer service, but its the heart and character of the staff that truly sets it apart. During my recent visit, I witnessed an incredibly touching act of kindness that I feel compelled to share. A homeless lady walked in, inquiring about the price of a dish. When she learned it was beyond her reach, she turned to leave. That s when Franklin, an employee whose compassion seems as boundless as his professionalism, stepped in. Without a second thought, he personally covered the cost of her meal. It wasn t just about the food it was a profound display of genuine respect and humanity. The steak itself was sublime perfectly cooked and seasoned to highlight its quality. Every other aspect of the service was equally impressive, reflecting the same standard of excellence Franklin showed. It s rare to see such authentic servant leadership; Franklin s gesture not only made a difference to that ladys day but also deepened my appreciation for this establishment. I wholeheartedly support Franklin and the steakhouse for embodying true hospitality. Though it s not feasible for acts like these to happen every day, it s refreshing to see real heart in action. If youre looking for exceptional food served with genuine care, this is the place to be in Richmond!

Visited during a local real estate convention. The food was absolutely amazing and our sever Niecey was top notch! She was quick and efficient and her customer service was second to none. Will definitely be back!!

I dont normally do a negative review but my group and I were a little turned off. Our reservation was for 5. Part of my party had arrived before the rest of us and had ordered drinks that didnt arrive until about 6. I gave the waitress a 5 because she was waiting multiple tables and kept apologizing for whatever was going on in the background. Part of our food arrived after 7 and my baby daughters food had been forgotten so we had to wait even longer for her steak to be cooked. My son and one of my daughters ordered ribs that had to be sawed into. My daughter took hers home to tenderize and flavor it. My son-in-law had the half chicken and said it had no flavor. No one was fully satisfied. Pictures of the food and drinks on the menu would have been helpful. Not my best birthday experience but I enjoyed my children and the plan they had to celebrate my 70th

Definitely one of our favorite spots in RVA for dining. We ve been multiple times since they opened their doors both in Chesterfield and downtown and haven t had a bad meal or bad experience yet! The steak medallion flight is to die for (and I m not really a big steak eater!), the crab cakes are amazing (not a lot of filler!) and the ahi tuna melts in your mouth. Let me also say they serve the best lemon drop martinis in town (not found on the menu). Highly highly recommend!! You won t be disappointed!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the downtown location. Our server, Niecey, was terrific. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and did a fantastic job! The food was very good and the service was even better. Niecey takes good care of her customers and I hope you take good care of her.

This is not worth the cost My experience - medium rare steak was inconsistently cooked - utensils for the steakhouse dont include legitimate steak knives - tables should be given steak sauce in a glass bottle for this price, not a plastic cup - no toothpicks, just a large wooden pick not suitable for picking teeth - you need larger napkins, not flatbread cloth

While everything was tasty and delicious and the ambiance and restaurant were nice, I have an issue with the Filet Flight. It was most definitely NOT filet mignon. It was no where near the correct cut of meat. It was rather like a bottom round pot roasted; well flavored with accoutrements! I will give it that!! lol. Cuts of filet are very tender and this was stringy and cut more like pot roast. Other than that. Everything else was good. We also got the Mac and cheese and asparagus. Also a smoked old fashioned very good.

Dont order the ribs. They will be the driest and most tasteless experience of your life. I feel insulted. They didnt even use salt or pepper in the process... I should have went to Outback. Interior design left alot to be desired. #justdoit

The food is delicious. Ive been here twice and its been good both times. The service isnt bad. I will say one of the times I went and it took awhile to get our drinks despite it not being busy. However, the staff were cool so it wasnt the biggest deal. Parking: Its in the city. Expect to have trouble parking.

Took some friends out to dinner while visiting Richmond. Restaurant looked nice. It got hotter and hotter as the dinner went due to the kichen having such an open window. Food was generally enjoyed - I don t suggest the salad unless you like it soaked in dressing. So much that my lettuce started to wilt. I took about 5 bites and gave up. The worst part of the whole evening though was our server. She had an attitude from start to finish. I am not sure if she was having a terrible day or just really hates her job that much. Drink service was SUPER slow. Thank goodness we had waters because once your drink was ordered it was about 20 minutes before another could be made. At one point I got up and interrupted our server from playing on her phone to ask her to come take drink orders from our table. To which she snottily said she did. I know for a fact mine wasn t taken which was just a sweet tea that had ran out 10 minutes prior. She did come full my drink finally and about 5 minutes later my guests drinks started to be served. So she had taken them, but it took entirely too long to make it to the table. It was a shame that such an expensive meal left such a bad taste in my mouth.

My first experience about a week ago was outstanding. I arrived 15 mins prior to my reservation and was immediately seated, as the hostess said we already have your table prepared . I had the T-Bone Steak while my bestfriend had the Seafood Pasta with a side order of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was so amazing that we order two to-go orders. We opted to also get dessert and it was great! I dined again yesterday and my service and food didn t disappoint once again. It is worth the price! I appreciate the balance of music while dining and the professionalism of the staff.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted to go to a spot where we already knew how the food would taste. Weve been married long enough to know we want what we want. Wed previously visited a different location that just recently opened where the ambiance was superb and the food was delectable. This location, however, is situated in what appears to be my washed up memory of a once thriving city - desolate. While the location is subpar, the lighting and decor are sleek and sexy. This space was really quiet, which I appreciate when out for the evening with my partner. But this was the kind of quiet of a virtually empty restaurant. There was plenty of staff (way more than patrons) and our server was extremely attentive. The food was excellent and reminded me of the other, livelier location Id previously visited. I ordered seared tuna as a small plate and crabcakes with asparagus for my entrée. Everything was cooked perfectly. We didnt stick around very long but thoroughly enjoyed the food. The restaurant cant do much about the place in which it is located, but I do hear that location is everything. I wish ML Steak in downtown RVA all the best!

Restaurants that add an automatic 20% gratuity to customer checks are really just subsidizing their employee pay when the customer should always be able determine the amount of tip that they wish to leave.

This was an awesome dinning experience; the prep and presentation was exceptional. The meals were worth the price. RU was a fabulous server, tending to our needs, very knowledgable with suggestions that were exactly what we wanted.

If you never get past the Red ale, Land & Sea burger and the Truffle Fries, you will die a very happy human. Absolutely exceptional.

We were really looking forward to a great dining experience. Oh well...... Atmosphere is ok but not for a upscale steak house. Food is not on par with the pricing. Much better steak at Texas Roadhouse. Ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out on the raw side. Service was also adequate but not on par with the pricing.

This was first visit. Claim to be high end steak restaurant, but from first moment in there to last, there s no way i would define as that. Was greeted at desk by waiter who asked if i had a reservation. I stated yes. Proceeded to stand there for almost 10 minutes waiting on the hostess to get off the phone, or at least put them on hold , to acknowledge us so we could be seated. Rule number one in customer service .. WAIT ON PEOPLE IN FRONT OF YOU FIRST! Put the call on hold! The waiter finally just said just pick a place to sit, this is taking longer than i thought. The furniture in there struck me right away! I would see that in a diner or burger place! NEVER in an upscale steak place. No booths or comfortable seating. Just hard wood tables and chairs. It was VERY loud with a large party yelling and laughing over too loud pop/ R&B music playing. The menu s were a piece of paper. The biggest disappointment was my meal!! Ordered a 20 ounce ribeye cooked medium. When it was delivered by the waiter he didn t miss a beat. He immediately left. I cut into it and it was literally RAW! Not rare.. RAW. A different waiter got the attention of our person and i saw him signal to him to look over at me. I waved him over. Had to send the steak back and wait an additional 8 minutes to get my food again. For me if your a STEAK restaurant , and your defining yourself as high end steak restaurant , then there s no room at all to mess up the steak being cooked properly. It was also unforgiving to not even offer to do anything to make up for the bad experience and sitting there all that time waiting while my husband was eating his meal. Lesson two make sure when food is delivered that the meal is right and cooked properly before you disappear !! I didn t see any evidence of a manager and no one came over to us, so unlike other places we have been i guess there s no one checking on customers experience. Being a brand new place that just opened, all this was a very bad omen!! The icing on the cake they automatically add a 20% service charge on your bill!! So even though my meal and experience was less than par, i was charged a maximum tip anyway. Parking: It s parking at a busy mall!

ML Steak Modern Chophouse provided excellent service and the food was outstanding. We had a pre-graduation dinner for my son who graduated from VCU and they were very accommodating to my many requests for our party of 13. Unfortunately I didnt take a picture of my meal but I had the 7 ounce filet, medium with smoked collard greens and mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly and the greens were tasty & tender. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining experience in with moderate prices. My family and I would definitely return when visiting Richmond.

I rarely post poor reviews, so this is hard for me to write. I had very high hopes for this restaurant. We sat at the bar to eat. It was not busy when we were there. There were two bartenders working. They were talking and looking at their phones while we just sat there. After nearly 10 minutes, one of the bartenders s set down waters in front of us, without speaking a word, and walked away. After a bit, we were talking about leaving and finding another restaurant l, she came and gave us menus and asked what we wanted to drink before even giving us a chance to look at the drink menu. We wanted to order some of their specialty cocktails, but we didnt dare have her walk away because we didnt know when we would see her again. We ordered a steak and smoked chicken. The chicken was extremely salty. The crust would have been devine if it had about half the salt. My husband ordered his steak medium rare. It came put very rare and was cold in the middle. They were willing to put it back on the grill for him, but honestly, we were over the restaurant at that point. The steak had little flavor. For this awful service, we were charged 20%. The best thing management at this restaurant could do is take the automatic tip off. It would cause the servers to actually work to support your patrons. I had high hopes, but I would recommend you run from this restaurant.

My date and I decided on the newest ML Steak location in the Chesterfield Town Center on a rainy, romantic Wednesday evening. These guys absolutely hit it out of the park. We sat at the bar where we were promptly served by our bartender Tom. We could not have been given better service: Tom explained the menu with both detail and passion to the point we were nearly hypnotized at the end. It s the kind of professional level service that you rarely see anymore but we experienced it here. Tom would even transfer Felicia s beer into a frosty pint glass if it were sitting too long. These little details truly make the difference. I ordered the Beast Burger and I may have had a better burger in my life but nothing comes to mind right now because this thing was a juicy culinary masterpiece of bison and boar meat. Felicia gave me some of her fried smoke half chicken and it was equally amazing. Chicken smoked in house and given a special blend of spices. We couldn t have been happier with the total dining experience here at ML Steak, including the ambiance. It s the type of restaurant experience that has become rare today but needs to be experienced and celebrated. Bravo! We will be back!

Had a reservation many open tables the reception is cleaned off the table to seat us took a while to get our food the salad came after the entrees we had to ask for sides that should have come with our dinners the prime rib was fairly tough I had to ask for salt and pepper three times the waitress does not come back very often I also ask for a refill on my water she reached over top of my food to refill my water, 20% tip is already added and you have to pay with a credit card but the receipt also has an extra line for tip so if youre not careful you can leave two, emprise below is per person

Thank you. **this review is for the Chesterfield location, but it has yet to show up in Google On Saturday, March 23, my husband and I took my mother to dinner at ML Steak. Our reservation was for 515 and we arrived at 510. The hosts were frazzled, despite it not being very busy and you could tell that the owner was unhappy about where the host sat the previous table. Im guessing it was our table, so we were asked to go hang at the bar for a few minutes while they figure it out. Luckily, just a few minutes at the bar, and we were ushered to our table. Our waitress came by fairly quickly to get our drink order, but then it took 20 minutes to get 2 waters, an unsweetened tea, and a martini. The martini sat at the bar for 15 of those 20 minutes and was no longer cold when I received it. When the tea and water came, I was served sweetened tea instead of unsweetened. So another wait and finally tea. During this time our waitress went to the table next to us and asked to take their order and they let her know that she had already taken it. So we order food when she comes back. One filet medium rare, cesar salad, one filet no butter, no seasoning (explained to her that my mother has a garlic and onion allergy), asparagus no sauce, one prime rib, a salad, and 2 glasses of wine. The wine took at least 15 minutes to get to the table and 30 minutes after ordering (we think the waitress forgot to order our food based on observation), were informed that they are out of prime rib. So we ask for the 3 filet medallions. Another half hour and our food comes out, but its wrong. The medallions were missing, the butter and seasoning were on my mothers steak, and there was a random filet that we didnt order ( separate from mine). Another 15 minutes and the medallions come out. Another 15 and my mom finally gets a filet with no seasoning and no butter. The food was good enough. During this time we talked to two managers and the owner (who admitted that the service was awful) and the only compensation was a free glass of wine for my mom. I realize they just opened and the wait staff is brand new, but I do not think it was fair to be forced to pay a 20% tip thats included in the bill for service that does not deserve it. I hope they succeed as Id love to not go downtown for a decent steak, but I wont be back for a long while.

The atmosphere is one of those that you have to experience for yourself. If felt like just me and my wife where there. The service was right on time and didnt miss a beat. And Ohhhhh my goodness the food has me thinking about our next reservation lol.

Over priced BBQ restaurant attempting to be a high end steak house. Service was slow (nice people but the guaranted 20% tip removed motivation for good service), steak tasted over fibrous (like it was frozen), service was non attentive, gnats kept intruding on out table. Music was more of a dance club vibe-- and super hard to have dinner conversation. The lobster Mac and chesse was the best part of our $180 check.

Had a date with my daughter for my birthday.. They served me with a birthday menu and two champagne glasses of wine... The serving amount of food was very nice size portions.. a slice of cake very huge with a beautiful presentation and great taste.. I must visit again I was so full. I had to take some of my food home ..

Maybe it was just a bad night for entire restaurant. I ve been past 2 times and it s been excellent. This visit on Feb 3 was pretty bad. The waitress forgot multiple items that we ordered. The Ribeye was way over cooked and I got Oscar style on my steak, which they forgot. The bartender was pretty bad @ making our drinks also. On top that they added 20% gratuity on our entire check. For a $400 bill I think it should have been a lot better.

My 47th birthday with reservations. As an absolute fan of Lillie I HIGHLY anticipated by evening at ML Steak. Very nice decor and vibe going in restaurant. Unfortunately my overall food and service experience were not up to expectations. I ordered the seared tuna appetizer ( decent portion and taste) and the 14oz Ny Strip Medium with asparagus and collards. First steak was well done....second steak was med rare at best, a possible re-fry of steak came back very well done.....the floor manager assured the steak would come out right and the pics enclosed was the 4th. I wont go into the delay in service and for drinks...this was a Saturday night 630p reservation. After the 4th steak and I didnt want to box it up and take home, I was offered to have it removed from bill. Before that (around the 2-3 steak) I was offered an apple tart, which I never was given. And apparently I should have gotten a special menu for my birthday.....I did not.....SN- I really wanted a steak last night. Vegetarian options: Cauliflower is really good and big....sides of asparagus available that are good when not charred to long Parking: Right across street is paid parking location.

The food was very mediocre. I had prime rib, wedge salad and mashed potatoes. My friend had lamb chops and neither of us finished our meals. The ambience was nice but I would not dine there again.

This was my first time here! My friend took me too dinner for my birthday. Everything was beyond satisfaction. We had reservations we were seated shortly after we arrived, staff was very respectful and helpful. And last but no least the food was phenomenal! Great music and a great atmosphere. I will be returning this is on my top 10 favorites list.

I went here for my birthday I enjoyed the customer service and the food was excellent. I had the fillet and it was like butter, it taste so good that I will be returning here very soon. This is a highly recommended restaurant if you re in Richmond or visiting from out of state. Next time I will take photos to share the experience.

It is pricey but the tip is included in your bill, the food was great, menu was small but the food was delicious and the items in the menu will hit everyone s pallet of taste, if street parking is not available it is a parking garage 3 mins away and parking was 8$, overall my wife loved it and I did to, the music, food and ambiance was great

Buckheads has some serious competition. First time visiting this place. Food was phenomenal. Good inventive drink menu and they had Japanese whiskey. 3 of us ordered the filet and another got the smoked chicken. Also had the roasted cauliflower and bao buns. Everything was excellent. I want to go back but now Im worried theres no way it will be that good again. Highly recommend.

Service was phenomenal, and the food was delicious. Try the mussels and shrimp and grits; I promise you will not be disappointed!

Great Experience for food and drinks

Ok at first, our dining experience was normal, then turned odd. My husband, and I arrived shortly after opening on October 3, 2023. We were sat right away, first booth near hostess stand, across from the bar. After sitting for a few minutes, a young man stops by our table, had small talk introduces himself as manager, shared info about restaurant/family business...etc. Mentioned his brother was owner, and we mentioned we had dined at Lily Pearl, and Rams House prior. Waitress showed up, took our drink, and food order. We ordered 2 drinks, crab cake dinner, lobster mac/cheese, and bone in rib eye. Drinks arrived, then shortly after so did our food....AND a buzzing fly. We were a few bites into our meal, and fly lands in my drink. I had taken maybe 2 sips. I didnt think it would be a big deal, and from our seat, I see the manager (same guy who chatted at our table) behind bar. I wave to him, and he immediately comes over. I point to the fly in my glass, he apologizes, takes the drink away, and brings me a new drink, BUT its not a full drink. The replacement drink he brings me, is noticeably less than half full, probably a third of a drink. I ask him what this is, pointing at the drink. I said this glass is much less than my drink you took away. He right away blames the bartender who made the drink. Me, defending the bartender, said to him, but you served it to me. It was just very ODD that he, as a manager would do that to a customer, rather than just making a full drink, like he should have. He takes the mini drink away, and has the waitress actually bring me a full drink replacement. I think he was embarrassed to return to our table after trying such an unprofessional stunt. We never saw him again. We paid our bill, included a tip for our waitress in addition to the 20% service fee thats already added to each check. Sometimes its strange/odd things like this managers behavior that will make a customer not return. He ruined the dining experience for me at ML Steak, and I wouldnt recommend coming here.

A group of us went here to celebrate a birthday. Kieon served us and was attentive, hospitable, and was funny! The food was amazing!!!! I personally had the chicken ohhhh lawd!!!! Mac and cheese on point!!! Will be back for sure!!

The food was excellent - every dish was flawlessly executed! For apps, seared tuna and smoked cauliflower. The mains included ribs (photo), seafood pasta dish, crabcakes (photo) & prime rib. All of the dishes were great but the stars were the ribs and the pasta dish. Deserts included the sweet potato maple cheesecake and Oreo cake? from the seasonal menu. The interior has an upscale, hip feel thats inviting. Open kitchen as in most LFG restaurants. Special event or occasion, celebration - ML Steak will be the place you want to return to. The lower service rating is simply because there was a large lag between apps & meal delivery, drinks were not refilled and a dropped au jus incident. Everyone has off days but overall, ML is 5*, We will return to try the lunch menu. Parking: Downtown Richmond - paid parking garages & lots available. You may fine free on street if you want to look and walk.

Really good experience here. The food was on point. Had the filet, collards & truffle fries. Could have used more truffle in the fries but still very good. The cook on the steak was perfect with a great crust. Will definitely go back when in the mood for a great steak.

Treated my wife and our friends for dinner as this was a new place we thought we d try. My wife ordered a Halibut and when they brought it to our table, It was completely raw! The manager said they would comp her meal but later got the check and it was 30% discount on her meal, this is not a comp! We spent over $300 there and I feel was a complete waste of money. Do yourself a favor and skip this place! We will NEVER come back again. Very disappointed in the management and Cook staff. $300 with food and drinks is alot to pay for a subpar meal.

It has been a few months since we dined here but was reviewing a few places and felt these folks deserved a nod. Actually was looking for a BBQ Place and was a little thrown by the signage! But, it turned out to be an excellent experience atmosphere is VERY dark, smooth, upscale steakhousish with great bar area and comfortable booths the romaine wedge salad was absolutely one of the BEST! Although what we initially came for we didn t get, the Beast Burger (juicy pink and perfectly seared) was simply amazing and the Chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. We do plan to get back there soon and try those BBQ Ribs! You may misread the signage BUT You WON T be disappointed!!

Took my kids here for a great steak dinner. The food was outstanding. My sons filet was exactly what he wanted and hes tough to please. My daughter was thrilled with the crab cakes. And my NY Strip was totally satisfying. Kudos to the service as well for the merlot recommendation which went great with my steak.

The website alone was enough to have me interested. The hook, however, was the manager having an allergy specific menu to help people with issues with Gluten, Nuts, and Dairy. Staff was amazing, food was second to none. Atmosphere made it dinner with a show. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options, Dairy Free and Nut Free. They do warn about possible cross contamination, however if you specificly request, they will cook all your food separately.

ML Steak was great! Getting there at open of course things were a little slow, but it was a whole vibe. Great blend of recent RnB, classic RnB, soul, and neo soul brought it all together. The staff was into the vibe also. The food was great. I was hungry so I only snapped one picture. The cinnamon rolls took me back to cinnabon in the mall. The decadence of the blueberry French toast was extremely homey. The steak and eggs were cook to order, and was filet medallions, and we asked medium well and it came well. Still flavorful but might wanna get medium. With the cheddar biscuits they provide and maple butter and strawberry jam, something you wouldnt think goes but paired very nicely. 9.5 out of 10 on brunch, Id love to see what dinner turned Into.

We enjoyed everything about our dinner here Sunday night for my husbands birthday while we were visiting from out of town. Our sever, Molly, is a gem. Drinks were amazing (highly recommend getting one of the old fashioned smoked!). Food was amazing and was served perfectly timed. We loved that it was an upscale meal in a casual atmosphere. My new favorite steakhouse in Richmond. We ordered the pork bao buns for an appetizer and my only complaint was that I didnt have at least 2 more orders to eat. The steaks were delicious and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The spice rub on my NY strip was top tier. The collards would earn my grandmas seal of approval, and if you know a southern Grandma, thats very high praise. The service was very friendly and food was delivered promptly, but spaced out to let us enjoy our appetizer. My wife and I very much enjoyed our first visit, and will certainly be returning.

This place doesn t look like much from the outside. I am from New York, where we have the best steakhouses in the world. I was driving through Richmond on the way up from the Carolinas, and I randomly found this place on Google maps. This rivals any steakhouse in New York. I can t even describe how tender the steaks were, and their house seasoning is unbelievable. On top of that, I ve never seen a friendlier staff in a restaurant. I must ve had five or six different people come over and ask me how everything was and hang out and chat. Incredible experience!!!!!!

My boyfriend made a reservation for us on Thursday for my birthday dinner. There was plenty of room for walkins but it was a week day. I loved the decor and the music was probably my favorite part; loved the soul and R&B. They even played the Stevie Wonder Happy Birthday for me! The food was a hit, I had absolutely no complaints! My lamb chops were tender and the sauce it s paired with compliments it well. I loved all of the sides especially the mac and greens. Everything was flavor but the cheesecake was out of this world, my boyfriend normally likes plain NY style cheesecake but even he liked it. All the staff were pleasant and everything came out fairly quickly. I love supporting black owned and businesses, and food is my love language and this is a 10/10 recommendation for me!

When I tell you the staff is amazing and the food was great. As soon as we sat down my drink order was taken and the drinks we really good. The food was fresh and didn t take long. I loved the truffle fries and the bao buns. Everything was great.

Modern chop house, aka hipster chop house. I did enjoy the vibe at ML Steak and it was bright and vibrant inside. Our server was attentive and had good recommendations. My co worker had the filet which I thought should have been a little bigger and I had the smoked prime rib which might be the best prime rib Ive had in a long time. The sides were good, albeit it a little smaller than Im used to. There was also a large list of drink options as well. I had the apple tart for dessert which was delicious. I would definitely visit again.

I m a very picky eater and I LOVED everything I tried especially the seafood pasta! Brought my honey here for Fathers Day. Nice open and modern decor. Nice tranquil images on monitors. Enjoyed the ambiance & service was great. Reservation was for 5pm and we were immediately greeted and seated by a friendly and enthusiastic host. We only waited about 30 mins for the food which we really enjoyed. Steak was very good. Tender and juicy. Wouldve like it and collards better if they had a little more flavor. Wasnt too crazy about the smoked fried chicken. Batter was a little to heavy and dense for my personal taste. Fries were delish and my husband loved the lobster Mac & cheese. Sweet potato cheesecake was very good but a little too sweet for my personal preference. Oh and their hotsauce as well as the honey sauce was really good. Our waitress Megan did a great job. Would definitely come back again.

Went here for my 1 year anniversary a couple of weeks ago. Food was great. The cauliflower appetizer and seafood pasta are amazing. However, I m annoyed that our anniversary wasn t acknowledged in any way. I know it s not mandatory, but most restaurants do and it s pretty much standard at this point. But the main reason I was offended about it We had our reception dinner at their sister restaurant Lillie Pearl last year and the manager was aware of it! Felt snubbed and honestly I don t care if it s not required - and left up to a manager s discretion. Another restaurant would have done it.

I will not be spending my money at a chain steakhouse anymore. This is my new date night place.

We went here to celebrate my cousins birthday. It was the perfect choice! Everything was inviting and ecstaticly pleasing about ML. Every thing I tasted was great... We enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and staff. The food was great. The chefs did a great job cooking our dinner exactly how we wanted it. The staff is lovely to work with. They checked in an appropriate amount of times while we re eating and talking with our friends. The atmosphere is nice as well. The interior design is that of an average restaurant in a Richmond. However, I do love the neon sign in the front waiting area. The price of our experience was average for this level of steakhouse. The parking can be tricky if you re not familiar with the area. There is free parking across the intersection from the restaurant and deck parking a couple of blocks away. As always, there may be street parking as well. Beware of the bus stop directly in front of the restaurant, don t park there.

ML Steak in the heart of downtown Richmond is bringing the vibe of New York City to Jackson Ward. Exceptional ambiance throughout this beautifully curated space; service has been spot-on during my 4 visits over the past several months. Steaks are a thing of beauty and priced quite reasonably... my only complaint: Why does a high-end restaurant not serve baked potatoes? The quaint side of mashed potatoes are nothing to brag about. Their burgers are, once again, utterly delectable, worth the trip for lunch. I offer five stars to this eatery that gets it right.

Food was delicious, drinks were delicious. Calm chill atmosphere, playlist was amazing. Was a little hard to find, a larger sign with a different name was over the building. Was visiting Richmond from out of town got caught up in a bunch of one ways and no left turns so it was a little difficult to find. But just know its right next to Walgreens, across from subway.

Went with a buddy to try out ML Steakhouse. Service by Brian was top notch. Even better were our filets cooked perfectly. Our apps cauliflower and yellow fin tuna also amazing. Atmosphere could use some jazz, art and decor not great but absolutely going back for the food.

Stopped in for a late lunch and was quite pleased with our choice. The food was terrific as well as the ambiance. Had a nice little chat with the manager. I could feel her pride. Glad to see that area of Broad Street blooming again.

I had made a reservation for 7 pm for my wifes 40th birthday, and arrived about 10 minutes before to park across the street in the city parking lot. When we arrived not many people where there and nobody was immediately at the front but as soon as an waiter saw us after about 10 seconds he promptly came up and greeted us. The greeter. Arrived shortly after and took us to our booth. First thing we noticed was the elegant decor and subtle but great music. It was perfect for a date night. The lighting was low which gave off a romantic or intimate feel. It was classic and 2000s hip-hop and R&B. Every table included a little artifical candle in a basket. The bathroom was super clean. My only gripe would be thr booth seating was hard artificial wood that caused your butt to hurt after a shirt while, lol. We both ordered got started with the drink menu, both electing to get one of their signature cocktails with the name catching my eye - The Black Wall Street, which immediately let me know it was a black owned establishment. It arrived in an classy looking glass with a stem, garnished with a orange peel on the rim. It tasted amazing! Throughout the night we tried a few different cocktails and enjoyed each one...you can tell the dont skimp on the quantity of alcohol. Each one packing a satisfying punch. On to the food, we both ordered the 20 Oz. ribeye, with my sides being asparagus and mashed potatoes, and hers being mac & cheese and asparagus. We both loved the asparagus with the included lemon flavored garnish and my mashed potatoes were great after a little salt and pepper. She said the same with the Mac & cheese and loved the creaminess. But those steaks....OMG those steaks were the best steaks Ive had in the Richmond area! Even beating out places like Flemings, Hondos, Ruths Chris and other top steak places, and Ive been to damn near all of them! Something about the seasoning really set those steaks apart. (I ordered medium and she had medium-well...eww lol.) They were both cooked perfectly and you could tell they were high quality. Service was pretty good with the manager coming around to observe employees and meet with us and other patrons. Overall we both thoroughly enjoyed her birthday celebration and I checked one more great place to try off my list in my quest to try every top rated restaurants in Richmond! Little pit too fancy steak house,quite expensive

Overall 3.5/4 star experience to be generous. Atmosphere is very nice, modernized, and inviting. Large table seating available, but chairs could be more comfortable. Cocktails stood out, fun ingredients, cool pairings, and instagrammable. Flavor profile of the food was tasty. I think the collards were a little too charred, but still tasted good and the mashed potatoes are a hit. Had a bite of the mac and cheese and it was also delicious. Unfortunately 3 out of our 4 steaks were over cooked :/ We all ordered medium and everyone but one person received medium well almost well done. We found it strange though that they provide A1 sauce automatically with the meal when a properly cooked steak does not need sauce I prefer a cast iron char with a pad of butter, seasoning, garlic, and maybe some sautéed mushrooms. I ve only dined here once so it could ve been a fluke or maybe the chef had an off day. Servers were polite, offered good suggestions, but it felt more like the aloof European service style of curt responses and minimal interaction except for the bartender (not a bad thing, just different). I would highly recommend the management team working with staff to perfect the cook on those steaks so they can stay competitive and keep people coming back year after year. Parking: Parking options vary based on the day of the week and time of day. If you don t mind circling the block and walking a street over you can find free street parking.

Our party of four ventured from Fredericksburg to Richmond to see Carole King the Musical and enjoyed being able to walk from the theater to experience ML Steak.

My partner and I had a wonderful date here last Sunday! It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, great food, and fantastic service. Our server, Molly, was wonderful and provided great food suggestions, and Sam greeted us at the door and ensured we had a great time. The biscuits and gravy were awesome, I never would have thought of crawfish biscuits... absolutely delicious!

Came here with the wife for a date night on a Friday evening. Very nice atmosphere and setup. Our server was great and very attentive. I started off with a house salad, which was really enough for 2 people. My entree was the Fried Smoked Half Chicken with collards and I substitued the mac and cheese for fries. The chicken was Amazing. The outside was so crispy and inside was juicy. I am not a big honey person, but I couldnt get enough of the BBQ honey sauce. To me the collards lacked seasoning, but I still enjoyed them. You definitely have to give this place a visit. They do include an automatic 20% gratutity, which I was fine with being that the service was great and I typically give that anyway.

The crab cakes were fresh and good. The sauted spinach was also good. The atmosphere was great for the large party(14) we had. The music played was great... maybe a tiny bit loud, but good selection.

Came to have a meal during non peak hours. The food and service was fine. Attentive server and great cocktail. Food tasted fresh, only a couple things slightly dry but made up for it with extra sauce. Was a but taken back when the bill came and the server immediately began explaining there is a 20% service charge that goes to host, bar and kitchen staff and does not go towards his tip. Then explained if I tipped with a credit card that would also be shared with the whole staff, but if I left cash, he could keep it. Im not a fan of the lack of transparency. Menu prices should be transparent and not come with a 20% to pay staff wages and then be asked to tip on top!

I visited Richmond for a solo trip for the first time and found this place on tiktok. I unknowingly visited 3 of his restaurants and loved each one. The cocktails were pretty good. I got the filet medallion flight. The one with blue cheese was kinda salty but other than that it was good and cooked just the way I like it. The sweet potato cheesecake was sooooo good. I highly recommend it, but Id say the service was the best part. I cant remember his name, but my server was so nice and attentive. He kept checking on me and helped me make a decision when I was uncertain. I definitely want to return to Richmond and take a longer trip next time. When I do, I will definitely return here.

I came here for the first time and was disappointed . The food was amazing but very over priced ! I ordered from the brunch menu Steak & Eggs . Normally you would think you would get a decent size especially if it s 30$ for the meal but no they ggave me a kids meal basically . 2 fillet medallions for 30$ ain t no way ! The steaks were sooo smalll it looked like they just cut a corner off and gave it to me . Wasn t even 4oz like it was ridiculous ! I spoke wit the manager Samantha who customer service wasn t the best . She acted as if she didn t even care that I wasn t pleased . I also informed her that she needed to speak with cooks because if you re gonna charge someone 30$ for 2 pieces of meat at leaf give me what I m paying for . Don t get me wrong the food tasted good but presentation was just horrible ! For this to be my first time coming I probably wouldn t even come back or recommend anyone either. My serviced Christina was very considerate of how I felt even offered to get me something else but I declined it because I was already upset about what was brought to me . Overall I could give this place a 3/5 only because the manager was seemed to be but rude & careless ! Might have to come back and try it again in the future .

This is my new favorite steakhouse in RVA! Located in the heart of downtown so it is close to a lot of activities to get into before/after visiting. I ordered the Bone in NY strip, cooked medium. It was easily my favorite steak I have eaten in awhile. I dont usually eat steak sauce but it came with the meat and was delicious. I also tried the Japanese old fashion and enjoyed it. Definitely going back. They had about 5 more things on their menu I want to try! Staff was amazing.

I enjoy eating here. The place is clean, the food is great and the staff is accommodating. My husband enjoys the filet. Not only do I enjoy the food and atmosphere but the owners are very nice people. They appreciate our business and they make sure to say it. We enjoy all of their restaurants. We come here for date night and we always request the same server. This is a nice place with good food. Hands down they get 5 stars!!!

It doesnt matter if you are alone or have a party of 15. You are paying 20% and its in your bill. The menu says its to pay the wages of the server. But really? You charge $50 for a steak...but since you pay them more I have to pay even more???? Because of that Im not going back. I would have gladly paid a tip for the service I received. But dont force me Because you pay your employees more

Went on a Friday night (made reservations) and let me just say it was phenomenal!!! My server Kamille was new and paired with Rue(this could be wrong in the spelling) and they were both great. But the food?!?! Can t say enough about how good the food was. The mussels definitely should be a main dish!! The rib eye was HUGE!!! The lamb chops were seared to perfection. My sides were (mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach) were delish and it still too full to eat my cheesecake!! This restaurant is such a vibe!! From the music to the ambience to the service was a chef s kiss!! Thank you for a great evening!!!

A large group reservation. Exceptional service, attention and food

Food was beyond amazing. Only reason four stars instead of five stars because tip should not be included in total. Especially when it is only two people dining. Tips are better from customers like us when not forced to pay a certain amount. Makes you wonder if the staff is only treating you a certain way because they get you with the forced tip.

Heaven must be like this!!!! The four of us came here tonight to celebrate our birthdays. Every single item was 100% excellence! The lamb chops, ribs, & sides were absolutely delicious but the star of the show the fried smoked half chicken!! Lord have mercy! The sweet potato maple cheesecake had me looking for the chef!! He did visit our table and graced us with his beautiful spirit. Amazing service by the manager Kaylan! The food, the vibe, the staff is on point! This was truly a 5 star dining experience!

A friend and I visited ML Modern Chop house while visiting Richmond. From the google reviews and tik tok who wouldn t be drawn to all those flavors. We made a reservations for 9pm. Upon arrival our table wasn t ready No worries, from the reviews many said you will have a wait. The ambiance was inviting, interior decor immaculate. We are seated, our waiter comes to greet us. I ask what he would suggest, he lets me know that he doesn t drink but can suggest their top sellers. So I order a Get up and Dance and my friend orders the Strawberry Titorira. We wait and wait. I have to ask the server, What s the ETA on our drinks? I try with a smile. He goes to pick up the drinks from the service area . The drinks were good but the ice chips melting. That is how I could tell that the drinks were sitting. While ordering drinks we ordered our food. Our waiter was knowledgeable on what the kitchen was out of. Chicken and mash potato which seem to be the basics for any restaurant. My friend ordered the Lamb Chops and I ordered the filet medallion. After people watching and good conversation, we were still waiting on our food. We asked the waiter is there some type of comp while we wait, no bread. He tells us no. Over an hour wait, my plate arrived but the sides were wrong. A server dropped my plate off asked about my sides then asked is everything alright. My friends food arrived. Our plates were cool to the touch and the temperature of our food was cold arriving to the table. Ok where is our server? Where is the server that brought out the food? Nowhere in sight. It s near 11pm(closing time) and we were hungry. We ate the cold food. When our server arrived we let him know the food was very cold. He brought the chef/owner out. The response from the chef was appalling. He said, The food is gone. I don t see what the problem is. My eyes widened. After a share of resumes in experience working in restaurants ( insert eyeroll) he offered either a free dessert or 20% comp. Wait! You have an automatic 20% service charge on every bill. Soooo it s to the determent to your staff but not to your establishment and your patrons are still left unsatisfied. My friend was offered a dessert. Even that was slow to come out and that was to-go. The bill and the dessert was not dropped together. The likely hood of returning is slim to none.

Good meat

My boyfriend and I have had dinner here twice and both meals were absolutely fabulous! For apps, we have had the smoked pork bao buns and the steamed mussels. The mussels have so much flavor and the lemongrass curry is out of this world. I had the filet medallion flight both times and he had the smoked prime rib. Both times both our meals were cooked perfectly. We shared the asparagus as a side. Our servers both times were very nice as well. I was back again last night as I hosted a happy hour with a local organization for event pros here, and Jalen was our server. He was kind, accommodating, and had a great personality. Thanks for taking care of us, Jalen! The truffle fries were also awesome! After being here for a third time, I knew it was time to write a review. I highly recommend ML Steak for wonderful food with a great atmosphere! (Photo is from our second time dining here)

I had an absolutely incredible dining experience at ML Steak RVA tonight with a local business partner in Richmond, VA this evening. I enjoyed a smoked Japanese Old fashioned. Then started off my tastebuds adventure with their Steamed Mussels in a lemongrass coconut curry sauce with tomatoes, parsley, green onions, and grilled bread. Then, I was delighted with their fillet flight! Which is- 3 fillets- 3 ways. Which was Oscar style, black and blue, and their signature ML style Each unique flavor was mouthwatering exploration! I also enjoyed a few amazing bites of their truffle lobster mac & cheese with grilled breadcrumbs, they re tender, handpicked, smoky collards greens and some chard asparagus. There was also a hearty sized portion of a medium, smoked prime rib with herb butter and Alabama White barbecue sauce. I have to say that the flavor profile of the smoke infused cocktail along with those delicate and tender proteins absolutely took me to a heightened dimension of a culinary taste! The smoky flavor was long lasting and so dimensional. Cheers and Well done to the Lyndsey Food Group for their incredible work in enhancing my Virginia experience! Thank you for an excellent dinner and service my friends! Next time, I ll get to expand my pallet even more with their unique flavored fare options. Their restaurant concepts come Highly recommend from this total foodie to all my total foodie friends!.

Overall amazing experience. My reservation was accepted last minute. Beyond grateful for that. Thanks Sam! We were greeted by Braxton and front end staff. Ru and a nice young lady were our servers they did and amazing job from start to finish. Chef T came and checked on us while we were eat and was very pleasant. All around great experience!

Best fried chicken of my life!!!!!!!

Great service, friendly and welcome staff made me feel at home. Perfectly prepared Manhattan, And had two small plates, the yellowfin tuna and the smoked cauliflower. Completely satisfying with just the right hint of smoke. Braxton followed up with me to check on things. This is a well managed restaurant with people doing their best to provide a great experience. Kudos and thank you for a wonderful meal.

The steak was cooked perfectly. But, to me, it was quite salty as plated. It is hard to undo saltiness. That said, it was a fantastic cut of bone-in New York strip! The atmosphere was wonderful! Open, rustic, with soft lighting. Original touch was that the large TV screens had gorgeous videos of Autumn Virginia mountains, rivers and lakes. Great touch!

We had a group of roughly 30 people come, all separate checks. They were kind, efficient, very helpful. And the food was EXCELLENT!!!!

We decided to try ML Steak for my husband 35th Birthday. The parking situation is a little frustrating considering that there is a small parking lot across the street where you have to pay, but it fills up quickly. You also have the option to park on the street, which is free, but its also sometimes a walk. They dont seat you until your party has arrived which is fine. Our server quickly addressed us and let us know what we could order. We ordered apps and our main food all at the same time. The food was decent. I think the prices dont really equate to the food quality but I understand I guess. I dont like how we have to pay $10 for a reservation but the reservation isnt exclusive. They did ask if we wanted to apply the reservation fee to our check which was nice, but nothing felt exclusive enough to make us pay $10 to begin with. Overall they get a 7/10.

We were downtown for the Christmas parade this morning and we wandered in for lunch. The service and the food were fantastic!

ML Steak was such a great experience! I visited their restaurant for a birthday event and the food was delicious and drinks were incredible, not to mention the beautiful ambiance! The staff is great and attentive. I had an issue with my receipt and the manager accommodated and resolved the issue quickly and great customer service! I will be adding this restaurant to the list of best restaurants in RVA. I will be back!

My very first time going on my birthday was fun. My family definitely enjoyed the experience. Leon our waiter was excellent The Japanese old fashion is a must try whenever you go. I had the smoked fried half a bird dinner and it was every bit of delicious as it looked when they sat my plate down. I didnt take pictures because my plate didnt last long. Ill see them again soon enough.

Was a mediocre experience overall. Plus, a 20% service charge for sitting at the bar is absurd. If you want good help, pay them better. Dont expect your customers to pay for their wages. ONE AND DONE FOR ME.

I took my sister here for her Birthday and Ill say this restaurant visually looks great but besides that I wasnt impressed with the food or service since it took a while for us to receive our food. My sister ordered the Bone-in Rib eye priced at $48 dollars which lacked seasoning in my eyes, Mac & cheese at $12 (basic), and add on crab cake for $16 which tasted like it was sitting out for a while. I had ordered the lunch special ML Steak burger at $14 which again lacked seasoning with a side of truffle fries at $9 which was probably the only thing I liked. They charged a 20%=$17 gratuity at the end.
