The Continental Manchester in Richmond

Higher end bar food and brunch. Great location and ambiance. Parking usually isnt a problem. Accommodates large parties.

3 words: Hot. Chicken. Sandwich. The chef(s) behind that thing deserve a prime spot in heaven. The Continental is doing the lords work at this place. Amazing food, good prices, generous serving size, and a lovely vibe inside. They are singlehandedly making the world a better place through their doordash deals that go on every day, making it the same price to order a glorious hot chicken sandwich as it would cost to go pick it up. Seriously, they are doing everything right there. Ive gotten 2 other people addicted to this sandwich and theyve also fallen down the doordash wormhole. My friend texted me today saying, Just demolished that chicken sandwich from Continental and I wish I could make love to the chef. Thought it was about time to write a google review for all the good they have done for me. Please never change, Continental.

I ve had the salmon Reuben three times and it s literally perfect. The crust is 10/10. One of the best things in Richmond.

Ive been here twice and the food has been just ok both times. The mozzarella sticks are frozen concession stand quality. The fries are good but the place does have an odd smell

We will go here again. All around decent, we came in for a late lunch while in the area. Looks like brunch would be really good, and well probably come back for that. Only issue was parking. There is a garage about a block away, but very limited in the immediate area. More like a place you would go to if you lived nearby. Street parking was available, but the street does not allow parking from 4pm to 6pm every day, so if you are there later in the afternoon, be prepared to move your vehicle. Parking: Limited spaces in the immediate area, most people circle around to find street parking (which is also limited), but the main street is closed to parking from 4pm to 6pm each day, so beware the tow truck. Parking garage is free, about a block away.

I went here for the foot-long dogs on a recommendation from a friend. She was right, theyre great. Big enough that you need to cut them into three sections to eat them properly. Sweet fries for the side. I was sat outside and enjoyed a nice view of the lettering on the Seaboard building.

This restaurant is for anyone who love well seasoned and prepared food. Been here several times now and if I could Id make the cook here my personal chef. Everything was awesome!

May be my new favorite lunch spot in Manchester (Sorry Legends). Service is great food is fabulous and portions are very generous considering the price. Also they have Cheerwine. So case closed!

Its exciting to see the revitalization of Manchester and The Continental is a bright spot on the restaurant scene. They have some creative and fun dishes and being next door to Stella s Grocery is a plus in case you want to grab something for home as you leave the restaurant.

Our service was good, but the food was very disappointing. The Salmon Rueben lacked imagination and was assembled poorly so that there were parts of the bread that were very dry while other parts were too wet. The pickle pie smelled amazing but it was obvious that it had not been left in the oven long enough to get any crisp on the crust. Probably will try this restaurant again.

I ordered a burger and a salad. The burger came with no condiments. It also came with cole slaw, which is what I ordered, but the slaw was basically carrots with a very weak vinaigrette. I also ordered a basic salad-the vinaigrette was very sweet (yuk) and the salad tasted like chemicals - I was worried that I would become ill if I ate it. Overall v. disappointing. 2/10.

My first time at this one, but a similar experience to the location on Grove. We were seated quickly, the booths are a bit awkward for two dudes, other than that its decorated well. The guy who took our order I think was also the bartender, he was friendly. The order was delivered by someone else, the sweet potato fries I ordered were missing. No one checked to see if our order was correct, no drink refills throughout lunch. The ( incorrect) fries were really salty, and the French dip wasnt the greatest. The bread was pretty good it was on. My friends Ruben met his expectations. This would of been four stars with better service, as aforementioned Ive had the same experience on Grove where the waiter took the order, the runner brought the food, and no one checked in. It appears to be a management/ training issue based on that.

First time customers...nice casual Sun brunch spot. The fact they take reservations won us over. Staff was great. Will def go again. Maple Sausage Corn Dogs, 3 of them and home fries, were a hit. Wouldve been 5 stars, but they were out of the Biscuits and Gravy...which is what I really wanted.

Unfortunately half of my brunch was served cold. I asked for them to heat up my plate and their solution was to take my food and heat it up at home. Food was good but service not so great. I can not eat cold food

We got the Ultimate BLT on sourdough and the single burger with bacon, egg, american cheese with a side of buffalo brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious. Will definitely be returning. Parking: Parking is a bit complicated. We found a spot in the lot next to chipotle about a block down.

The chicken and waffles were the bomb. The Mimosas are so refreshing. The service was excellent.

So first after making a reservation a month ahead for 20 and confirming a few days before.. reservation magically disappeared 15 minutes before my guest was to show up was placed outside after a few minutes.. Manager never came over to greet me or my party I basically had to play host and help at my own birthday party & the food was good but would have been better if it was hot . I felt a major racial disconnect from my party and those who arrived before and after my guest second experience at this restaurant and I must say I am very disappointed from hello and goodbye felt rushed out after my reservation was confirmed and magically gone I felt like I was guest who wasn t invited and showed up with other folks and take home boxes.. only great thing was location

The staff is really friendly. The food in my opinion was okay but my husband thought it was great. I felt that the menu selections werent vast enough for my taste but I have to admit that I am a picky eater. I like the way the restaurant was set up. The seating varied to fit 2 people or could seat large parties as well. I think I saw a party of 8/10 sitting together. Reservations can be made ahead of time but they arent required. Parking: You may have to ride around a bit to find parking. We drove around 3 times to find a spot.

My husband and I had an amazing lunch at the Continental Manchester. He had the Barbecue Beef Brisket with the most delicious french fries EVER and I had the Zucchini Falafel Wrap with the jicama slaw on the side. I usually steal just one french fry when he orders them, but this time I confess I couldnt stop! They were SPECTACULAR!. Everything was perfectly prepared and the service was impeccable! Then I went into the attached market and got a farro salad to go. It was so big, I made meals out of it for 3 days.

A word to the owners, do not instruct the inexperienced young employees to ask customers when the come in, what can I do for you???What?? So I answered Seat us!!! WTW!!! Restaurants are disrespecting older Black adults. We are on a level where customer service should come first. Then the host told us we couldnt get a booth because there was only two of us. What???? There were three booths with only two customers. Then my 63 husband saw a tiny booth and the host said oh yeah ok. Do better management !!!

When I chewed this sandwich I instantly said IKYFL ! This food was unacceptable today not even McDonald s would do this type of stuff. Crunchy grill bits ew!!!!! Instant trashing! I had to complain to DoorDash for a refund because no way someone would do this! This place is usually a go to, I ll take a break on this for a while!

So I tried this restaurant via door dash a few weeks ago and decided to go for it again today .it was good both times! I had chicken tenders, a cheeseburger and fries the burger was amazing,the fries well seasoned and the best thing is that not only it taste good but it s affordable comfort food.This is my new go to spot for sure so I ll be making a in person visit soon.

A neat place to get brunch. Their falafel is one of the best Ive had in town, and their portion sizes were big. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. A tad pricey but the portion sizes and taste made up for it!

I had the Oaxaca burger with pepperjack cheese, avocado cremation and red onion. It was good. Nothing special. The French fries were awesome fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Also had a Green tea shot it was very delicious. Prices were reasonable.

Breakfast was awesome

Came for dinner with a group of friends. There were 7 of us on a Friday night and got a table right away. I had a Joan Collins from the house cocktail menu. Refreshing and delightful. I ordered the zucchini falafel wrap with a side of broccolini. The falafel was a bit too salty for me but the broccolini was cooked perfectly. A couple friends ordered the burger and really enjoyed it. I tasted someones sweet potato fries and those were yummy. Id be interested to come back and try some other items on the menu. Friendly service.

Super friendly staff! Amazing vibe! And super yummy French dips. The portion sizes are HUGE so you can split an entree between two people. They had some good looking specialty cocktails. Didnt try them this time but will the next :). There is also an adorable market attached to the back! We got some baklava. Has good walkability and def worth the trip we will def be back alot

My new favorite south of the river restaurant! Absolutely fantastic food in a very new trendy neighborhood to live, eat, play, and work! The service sucked. We finally seated ourselves and had to remind the server that we need two menus. She didnt even bring me the right beer I ordered. The parking is horrible too. I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars if it was just about the food but unfortunately it is not. If you can endure incompetent waitresses I would still highly recommend going to this restaurant.

My Waitress Morgan, was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, hospitable and went out of her way to help me see the Baked Goat Cheese I wanted to check out before I order it. I asked for the Salmon Reuben to have the Apple Jicama Slaw and the sauce on the side, as well as for the salmon to be less cooked/moist. Everything came out as per ordered, including skipping the toasts that come with the Baked Goat Cheese. What a wonderful experience and restaurant, with the most attentive waitress to boot! For the first time in my life, I gladly tipped 25%!

I have a gift card that states it is for The Continental, but underneath that is says Westhampton. So, my husband called The Continental Manchester to ask if we could use the gift card at their location. The girl on the phone said yes and we placed an order for carry out. When we showed up, the person handing my husband the order said that the girl on the phone was wrong and we could not use the gift card at the Manchester location. We ended up paying $40 for food that we otherwise would not have ordered from that location. I dont understand why we were penalized because of their inability to correctly train their staff. While the food was very tasty, we will not be going back. Yes, I know some people think you shouldnt judge a business from just your first experience, but with the number of restaurants in Richmond, there is no reason to return to an establishment that does not seem to value their customers.

The menu has great variety and while its a little pricey for lunch options the portions are large enough that I always feel satisfied.

An entree and a drink for 3 people = $100. Not the best, not the worst. But for $100 I want good food and great service. Instead we got average food and below average service. Too many better place in town to chose this place. Minority review: has a gentrified Richmond vibe. So the hipster appeal, which is welcoming but majority white.

I dont know what I was expecting, but do not get the salad with bacon vinaigrette, bc it tastes like bacon FAT dripped over your salad. Honestly can not believe this is a dish. The texture on my lips is DEFINITELY BACON FAT in the salad dressing. The dressing was even congealed like bacon fat. Im disgusted tbh. The rest of the food is also sub par considering the prices. This area needs better options.

For the prices, you would think theyd be able to make a PICK UP club sandwich that doesnt even require a microwave to prepare, ONE WHOLE HOUR before close, but no, they shut down the kitchen OVER an hour early. They are located next to 8 apartment buildings. As if there wasnt a possibility of having people want to eat at 8pm IN DOWNTOWN.

Ever since new management and new turnover of staff this place is a huge let down now. They leave whole items out of the bag for an order with 2 items. They close early whenever they feel like it. Not consistent, cant depend on them being open to plan my dinner around.

Very rude, I just went in there to order something to go. Two people came in after me who also wanted an to go order and the server asks them what they wanted first. I had already been waiting for like 5 minutes and the two people that came in after me had just walked in. So, I just walked out. Never going here again!! Which is a shame for them since I am a local in this neighborhood.

I love the continental s food and staff. Every dish I ve ever ordered is fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. Their staff is all very helpful and I enjoy sitting at the bar and talking with them. A place where you can always stop by to unwind after work is ideal. My favorite dishes are all of the salads (huge portions on everything), hot chicken, Penne Continental with chicken, and all of their brunch is great too!! They have food and drinks on HH too and tasty cocktails.

The bar service was amazing. I came back the next day because the bar staff was so awesome and I felt so welcomed.

The lamb sliders were a bit bland - perhaps the falafel sliders are better? I can say that the sliders were a generous portion. The ultimate BLT was stacked high with bacon - we definitely got our moneys worth. The brisket benedict tasted great - the brisket tasted as if it had come from a BBQ spot. Home fries were well seasoned. We were seated under a vent that was leaking condensation. I noticed it right before I sat down. The hostess saw me looking and said, Yeah, condensation does drip on that seat. Had I not noticed, I guess I would have just gotten dripped on. There were only 2 of us at a 4-person table, so we moved over to avoid the drippage. While we worked it out, it was a bit uncomfortable as we had to squeeze all of our food and drinks over to one side of the table. During our meal, I noticed other places throughout the restaurant in which condensation was leaking. We plan to try the Continental again. Hopefully, they will have fixed the HVAC issues.

This place is OK and WORTH the visit. The service was slow...very slow due to short staff in my observation. One server for all tables. The burger was EXCELLENT. Cooked to perfection. Definitely worth the visit just be prepared to wait. Parking: Lots of construction going on. You may have to circle around a few times to find street parking. Be mindful of the 2 hr parking signs, though no parking meters in sight on the streets, people were saying they still do ticket you for staying past the time permitted on the signs.

They ve got a pastrami spiced salmon sandwich they call the Salmon Reuben. We call it The Mooch when paired with the Buffalo Brussels Sprouts. Excellently cooked & spiced. The rye bread is a superb selection.

Richmond has many gems throughout and The Continental Manchester is no different. There are several places to grab a bite in Manchester, but you should make one of those The Continental. They have great brunch, lunch, and dinner. The limeades are great - alcoholic or non-alcoholic. The staff is always friendly and ready to assist. You can pop in by yourself or take a business lunch inside or on their patio. This is a great feature for Manchester and we at Commodore look forward to encouraging our residents to visit.

Ive eaten at The Continental a few times and each time its been good. I havent had a bad meal there. The people that work there are friendly and nice. Dietary restrictions: They try to accommodate allergies and they will usually make suggestions for me.

I m honestly disappointed. I usually come here all the time and have no issues with what I order but this particular day I found a long strand of hair in my food. I wish restaurants would be more strict on having employees put their hair up while preparing food and take proper sanitary measures. I will say they are always so nice and welcoming whenever I arrive to pick up my order.

My Pizza was over cooked. and my loaded fries took forever to cone out. Staff friendly but not as attentive as I need. Only mask being waor by staff. Table set close together . Decor very cute for location. This spot will be awsome in the spring ,its connected to a little store as well as new apartment lofts. That drinknis called Smoke in Mirrors, pretty good!!

Just so so. The food is overpriced for basic fare. The ambiance is middling, and the service was un-notable. Out of the beer we wanted. So all in all, I wouldnt recommend to a friend.

The Salmon Reuben OMG the absolute best, very moist I had to go back the next day for another one. The ambiance of this restaurant is so laid back, the staff very welcoming. Ill definitely recommend The Manchester location great spot to bring life back to the area.

Wow! This was my first time in this place and honestly I was amazed. I got here at 2:27p and realize they close at 3pm. When i walked in they didn t even seem bothered that I was coming in when they are about to close. The atmosphere alone just creates a very settle vibe, nice soft versatile music and the view was awesome. The service!! Oh My God! The server i had was amazing Kind, energetic, and very personable- I was so amazed. Everyone i encountered exhibited those same characteristics, service makes a difference in your experience. The food, very tasteful and fulfilling I had the chicken and waffles, chicken seasoned to perfection and the waffle nice and crispy! Overall, and simply put I would go back and encourage you to! They will not disappoint you!

Continental is great overall! They have a pretty decent menu and have some great-tasting dishes and dessert. That being said, it is a bit on the pricier side compared to other local restaurants in the area. Would absolutely come back, though.

This might just be our new favorite local place. The service was great. I had the stuffed shroom burger with homemade potatoe chips and it was great! I havent been able to find a burger like this since I moved and I was so happy they make one. My boyfriend had the brisket and bread with french fries. He loved everything from the sides to the entree.

The food here was great! Try the wings with white BBQ sauce, and the amazing brussels. Service was great as well, and they even have a small shop attached with tons of treats! Awesome place.

The food is always wonderful, however the experience can be lacking. For instance, their website advertises happy hour from 2 - 6 pm, however they just updated their menu to show that it is in actuality from 3 - 6 pm without updating their website. When management was asked if they would still honor the happy hour, it was declined. Similarly, the server left to go on break without notifying us, clearing our food, bringing our check, or asking if we would like another drink. We had to go to the bartender and ask why we had not seen our server (or any server) for about 20 minutes and ask for another round and our checks.

Beignets were very light and hollow inside. You could taste the eggs. The inside was partially uncooked. It was not thick and decadent or filling like most New Orlean authentic recipes. It was basically biting into an empty shell. The powdered sugar was nice but I would not purchase this menu item again. Cafe Beignet is the winner in RVA on these treats!

$6 carryout fee on a $30 order? No thanks. Since when do I have to pay 20% extra to pick up sandwiches from a restaurant?

We brought a party of 8 this afternoon. It was the first visit for all of us. We had a fantastic time! Our server was Morgan and she took great care of us. We used the online reservation option and it worked out wonderfully! Our food came out fast, cooked to order and was delicious! We really enjoyed our first visit. One of the kids with us, Jaxon, volunteered to be my Google Review Star with his Chicken and Waffles platter! Kid-friendliness: The menus and service are friendly towards children.

I had a delicious gigantic salad and my daughter had an equally delicious and gigantic hot dog with such good fries. We will be back. Parking: Parking is a problem. We did park on the street but had to swing back around to do so It may be possible to park in the lot that is part of the housing complex.

We were in the area and decided to stop here for a bite to eat. We were not disappointed. My Greek salad was gorgeous and so delicious. The modern retro design of the restaurant was very nice. Great music playing as well- just an all around nice vibe. I would totally visit again. Also make sure you check out the attached market.

Where should I start me and my boyfriend had dinner first off the service is horrible towards afro american people why I say that cause a white group of people /caucasian party who sat right next to us received great service it was all smiles n laughter between them and the waitress we never once was asked if we would like a refill our condiments wasnt offered nor was we checked on at all we was totally ignored we had to wave the waitress down numerous times as we ate our meal the food is over priced but wasnt bad but wasnt great neither.. the staff seems to be more interested in talking amongst themselves then catering to there patrons of color I would have to say all they do is gossip amongst themselves this place is just simply racist! Stay away by all means o yea there isnt one black person working here which to me is impossible unless its intentional.. another red flag that show in house racism... do spend money here if u are of color..

Ok I walk in n sit at the bar and ordered some wings to go bartender puts the order in and asks me if I wanted a drink I said no he gives me a weird look so I persist to wait for my wings n the whole time he s like acting like he has a attitude that I didn t get a drink so now he starts talking to the waitress and she looks directly at me as if he talking about me!! I swear this place is just weird n now a girl brings my order out and gives me my food after like 20 min and she takes my money also with a attitude!!!! Such a great restaurant! We frequently do carry out from here and every time we are so satisfied. The portions are great and reasonably priced. The food is always so well flavored and seasoned, especially the buffalo brussel sprouts. There is something here for everyone, i highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this place. We went here to watch the NFL game. They have a good amount of TVs for watching sports. I did not give them 5 stars because they made a mistake and brought us an extra beer. Instead of giving it to us at no charge they charged us for it as if we had ordered it. The food was outstanding. I had a French dip and I would certainly recommend the sandwich. It was a great place to go to.

A MUST visit.......again and again and again

Food and drinks were delicious. Food portions are also large and drinks are strong. Once we ordered the food cake out very fast, just took em a moment to take our order. We loved the vibe inside too. Very hip diner, hipster fancy if you will, yet casual. Will be back for sure.

The staff was friendly, the service was fast. We did not have to wait long for our food to be served. I would recommend The Continental Manchester.

Weekday lunch, prompt and friendly service, quick turnaround, excellent overall experience. Sailor was A1 as was the beef brisket sandwich. Sweet potato fries are the way to go. Large portions, fairly priced. Highly recommended.

This place was really awesome. The customer service was lovely and the food was really delicious I had the falafel wrap which was perfect with the grilled asparagus. And my son had their kale salmon salad which was also delicious. Highly recommend it.

Great hours and confidently located . 10 out of 10 Must Try Dishes - Dirty Fries (Real Deal Ranch ) , and Buffalo Brussels , my God !

So good! Great service, quick, a food was awesome! I got the beef french dip with sweet potato fries.

Seating was a little tight inside and some of our food was wrong and/or. They corrected the issues immediately and professionally. Good value food - it was good and portions were big. Like real big. Atmosphere was a younger crowd. Would go back again and would recommend.

The place is bloody fantastic and a shame more people havent reviewed it. Yes at first you look at the menu and think why is this club sandwich kind of expensive well be sure they are giving you 4 sandwiches and a god d***n fryer full of crispy/yet soft fries (good soft). And their burrito special..... They dont tell you it takes two plates. TWO PLATES, either thats a dinner for two your two dinners for you. Youll almost never leave eating your whole meal. And its delicous, came in my mouth with the queso, shrimp, and chorizo dancing in sync in my mouth. I screamed from ecstasy. May have scared some people from the bar but definitely brought some people from the street to see what the commotion was. Overall, a great place with great whole. You come in and the staff are so friendly you be inviting them home to meet your parents. Love it here
