She crab soup was awesome! Apparently the girl crabs taste better - who knew? Loved the rib eye. Great atmosphere.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I will be back again! All the Christmas décor is such an amazing touch to the already beautiful ambiance. Our waiter and food were amazing as always.

The Tobacco Company certainly has a charming atmosphere, and its rich history as a tobacco warehouse built in 1865 is undeniable. Unfortunately, my recent experience here reminded me of that classic Jerry Seinfeld episode where the rental car agency knew how to take a reservation, but didn t know how to hold a reservation. The difference matters, and in this case, it meant our 7:15 reservation didn t translate into actually being seated until 7:35. Much like in Seinfeld s world, having the piece of paper with the reservation on it didn t amount to a timely table. Once we were finally seated, I tried their Northern Lights cocktail, a creative blend of Empress Indigo gin, elderflower, mint, blackberry, rosemary, lemon juice, bitters, and a touch of shimmer. It was certainly unique, but a bit too sweet for my taste. For dinner, my brother Michael and I shared the Tournedos bayou. While the filets and shrimp were cooked nicely, the Béarnaise sauce was overpowering, and at this price point, I really expected USDA prime beef. My friend Drew enjoyed his Jambalaya Pasta, while his husband Jeff found the Vegetable Lasagna just okay. I also ordered a French Onion soup to start, which never arrived though at least they didn t charge me for something I didn t get. In short, The Tobacco Company has history and a decent ambiance, but like that famous Seinfeld scenario, they need to work on not just taking reservations, but honoring them without delay. A few adjustments in the kitchen and a bit more attention from the waitstaff would go a long way.

I recently visited The Tobacco Company for a birthday dinner with seven friends, and it was an overall fantastic dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the restaurants atmosphere stood out. The vibe was sophisticated yet comfortable, featuring exposed brick, ornate chandeliers, and striking, vintage-style mirrors that made the space feel both elegant and inviting. One of the coolest features was the antique-style elevator, which added a fun, quirky touch to the ambiance. For dinner, I opted for the scallops, which were served with a delicious mushroom risotto and asparagus. The portions were generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The scallops were tender and flavorful, and the risotto was creamy without being too heavy. I also tried the she-crab soup as a starter, but unfortunately, it wasnt my favorite. It was a bit too thick and creamy for my taste, with a texture similar to cream of chicken soup, which felt a little overwhelming. The cocktails were another highlight. Each of us ordered something different, and we all loved what we tried. The drink menu had a great variety, and the drinks were well-crafted with creative flavors. All in all, The Tobacco Company provided a memorable dining experience. The food, cocktails, and ambiance make it a great choice for anyone seeking an upscale, fine-dining experience in Richmond. Its definitely worth checking out, especially if youre looking to celebrate a special occasion!

I have to give this place 5 stars - crab cakes and steak were amazing. Service is impeccable. And the atmosphere is fancy without being stuffy. I ll say I m not sure it s worth $100 a person which is what our bill came to, but it was a great meal.

I have gone to the tobacco company many times over the last 40 years, starting when I was in college. It is absolutely beautiful and the perfect place for a special night. That said, the bar prices are insane. $30 with tip for a very small pour of Whistle Pig 10 yr. Regular cocktails were similarly disproportionate in their value. These are the same prices that I pay when I go to New York.... Richmond is not supposed to cost the same.

Very pleased with my first visit here. Service was top-notch without being rushed. Food was excellent. Great selection of foods - found plenty of options. Id eat here again in a heartbeat.

I would walk uphill in the snow in both directions to taste the butter cake again.

Bouncers will touch girls to get them out 15 minutes early and take bribes to get in early. Watch out. Drinks are decent.

Awesome atmosphere. Intriguing feel to the place Service was lacking because we were in the bar area and Allot of people there. The bartender went above and beyond to service us. Food was delicious with a lot of different options. Enjoyed this place. Try it out. But make reservations for a weekend night out. Kid-friendliness: Somewhat kids friendly. Early would be better.

The chicken added to my Caesar salad had a speck of blood in the middle and there was a cockroach under the table.

The atmosphere is amazing. The food exceeded expectations. The service was ok. She just seemed to be possibly having a bad night. She also seemed much more interested in talking to the man at the next table. The cost is not cheap, but the food was really good.

I really cant say anything here that wouldnt sound like an understatement. This is a restaurant you just NEED to go to. The building itself is stunning. The environment, the food, the waiters/waitresses. It is definitely a place I will visit every time I come back to Richmond.

Everything was simply amazing. I splurged this evening and my wife and I enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, main course and even desert! Nothing disappointed. The drinks were very creative as well as delicious. The food was perfectly prepared and presented, and the flavors were simply amazing. Our waitress, Becka, was a sweetie and very knowledgeable about the food we were ordering as well as the drinks. The MOST amazing part of our dining experience here was the atmosphere though! Three floors with an atrium in the center and a working exposed lift if you dont want to take the stairs! The Tobacco Company Restaurant is definitely the best dining experience I have ever had in my 56 years!

Don t understand how anyone could rate this place below 5 stars. I m in town for business from NYC and have eaten here 2-3 times a week for the past month. I m blown away every time at how delicious it is. Sure, you might get a dirty small plate- but your server will replace it with a clean one with a smile on their face if you tell them. Then your perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned steak will come out on a clean plate Then, I d highly recommend trying their dessert. Best bread pudding I ve ever had. Top 5 pecan pie I ve ever had. Add a scoop of ice cream if you re cool like that

It s with a heavy heart that I need to write this review. Been to Tobacco Company multiple times. Love it. Sunday night was just a nightmare for what we paid for 2, no wine ($300+.). None of this was our waiter s fault. Drink order was wrong, (simple and obvious straight liquor.) Spinach salad with warm bacon dressing served with no dressing. Prime rib ordered med-rare, brought med-well. They did replace it. Husband s filet ordered med-rare, delivered practically well done. Nobody around to replace it, and he just ate it very unhappily. Sooo many mistakes. I have no problem with a mistake. But everything just kept going wrong. Turned an expected wonderful evening into a frustrating experience. Come on, Tobacco Company, you can do better!!!

Amazing experience!

This was my first visit along with my friends. We had a Gooood time! They both were tipsy. Lol! Chloe was our waitres, and she was training a new employee. They both did a great job. I have 0 complaints. Parking: Good luck with parking. Its best to go right when the restaurant opens.

Great food and drinks, beautiful interior and live band after 9:30. Highly recommended.

Arrived 7 minutes early for a 7:30 reservation. Stated they had to clean our table. No problem. Seated us on the 3rd floor. When we arrived up on the third floor, there were 7 or 8 tables available????? Great welcome by Nick. Went down hill from there. Our table had sitting for four. Only three in our party. Silverware for three no problem. However my daughter was missing a water glass. Nick said he would bring her a glass. The glass never arrived. My daughter ordered and a drink and my wife and I ordered a bottle of wine. All good. No one ever stopped by to add water to two of our glasses or top off our wine. I ordered the prime rib. Not to good. 2 out of a 5. Bake potato was cold as well as were the green beans. Nick nor anybody else ever stopped by to ask how dinner was? Did notice another gentleman complaining to someone that appeared to be a manager across from our table. So I guess we were not the only ones having a bad experience. My wife and I are in town visiting our daughter for VCU Family Weekend. Not sure if we will visit The Tobacco Company again. But we will visit Richmond again. Roanoke, Va

A party of 10 and I visited this restaurant on a Friday night and the best thing I can say about this restaurant is the live band and the aesthetic of the building. Everything else was extremely poor from the service to the food. Our waiter was slightly rude seemed a bit irritated and it showed. Our drinks, appetizers and main dishes came out extremely late. We spent 3 hours in this restaurant and we waited for our orders at least 2/3 of the time there.

I heard praises about the decor yet heard mixed reviews about food but I had no complaints. Our sever Darren was attentive. I didn t enjoy the cocktails as much though. I would probably go with wine the next time.

Crab cake with saffron rice and veggies

For my birthday this year, I brought my family (party of 6) for dinner. My husband and I had been talking it up since we went back in November and loved it. We were extremely disappointed this trip. It took 1.5 hours for us to get our food between the appetizer coming out and our meals. When the food did come out, it was room temp and had obviously been sitting. Our waitress only came to check on us one time, left our drinks empty, and often forgot things. It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was not particularly busy. On top of this, the food was not good. It was bland, undercooked, and just overall mid. Not what I have come to expect from one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. I think the icing on the cake was also the forced 20% gratuity which totaled to $75 for bottom tier service. Very disappointed and do not plan to return.

Made a reservation during the week for Saturday night for 7:15p. We got seated around 7:35 during the dinner rush. The aesthetic of the restaurant is amazing and a sight to see in person with the rustic brick and various old artifacts they have to make their theme. When we finally got sat down, we didn t get a cocktail menu and we had to go back to the hostess to obtain it. Then it seems like there was only one or two servers per floor and because we all got seated at the same time, it seems like we all waited for a while for service. We didn t get our food until 8:42pm, and thats after our server (who was very nice) was coming by like every other 20mins. We noticed and ordered everything we wanted in one swing so we wouldn t have to wait. We got done around 9:30pm as a result. The food itself was really good, and would recommend the prime rib and surf and turf.

Nice atmosphere but thats it. Visiting with my partner as she returns to her hometown for the first time in 7 years. She remembered this place being good so we made reservations Sunday night. Upon entering it was clear a reservation was not required and it became apparent as to why. Upon being seated she noticed specks of dirt/grime on both our glasses. When she finally received her silverware (after needing to ask for it) her knife was dirty as well. I also found our waitresss stained shirt wanting cleanliness. The cocktails we ordered were passable and our appetizers while passable were nothing special. My favorite bite of the evening was the warm bread they served with butter. For our mains, her ribeye was absolutely drowned in the chimichiri sauce it was paired with and she had to scrape most of it off. My king cut prime rib was extremely fatty and clearly reheated, and not evenly. It was only by happenstance my first bites were an ideal temperature, as the second half of it was basically room temperature. Furthermore, the baked potato served alongside it did not contain any toppings, let alone a pat of butter. We did not stay for dessert. I am posting this as I am walking out the door never to return and I recommend you do not either.

First time eating here and the customer service was awfully amazing!!!! The food was out of this world. I can t say anything remotely bad about the experience. From the moment I walked in the manager was waiting and event held the door open like he knew I was coming. The total experience was hands down 5 stars!!! Even got dessert on the house. I will recommend this place 10 times over!

My wife and I celebrated a very special 26th anniversary dinner at the Tobacco Company recently, and it was the best meal we have had overall the years. The food from beginning to end was exceptional from the bread, the jumbo shrimp cocktail and my Ribeye steak was the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned to perfection! Our server was on top of things and provided a wonderful experience for us both! The atmosphere was great and just overall memorable evening, thank you! Parking: Public Parking Garage next door

This place has really good food and a cool setting to experience. We rode the elevator up and walked down the stairs at the end-jist to experience both. Our food was perfectly cooked and the staff was attentive and knowledgeable.

Consistently good food, drinks, and service.

Food wasnt great, and the AC wasnt working so restaurant was pretty warm inside. I ordered the prime rib meal, it was OK. Ive had better prime rib at Texas Roadhouse to be honest. Steak was cooked fine but lacked in flavor. My wife got the 3 seafood pasta and it was also just ok, and lacked in flavor. The atmosphere and service was great but for $160.00 for 2 mixed drinks and 2 entrees was a bit steep for the quality of food.

This used to be one of my favorite places, but they have fallen pretty low. They allowed us run out of water, they served stakes without stake knifes, they let us stack dirty dishes on the table, and they didnt bring the bread out. But the biggest insult were the green beans. If I were looking for canned beans, I would have gone to Kroger. And that baked potato was the saddest $11 potato with a few flakes of bacon on it. Ribeye was good, prime rib was bland. Such a shame for a place that used to serve quality food and provide top notch service.

This place used to be awesome top-tier food but as of the last year, the times I ve gone this year the menu has been very underwhelming. There s simply no innovation. This is surely ground zero for geriatric food. I was super shocked at how badly done the meatloaf was and also how do you mess up mashed potatoes and green beans is beyond me. This is the south, they even messed up how to make sweet tea. The meatloaf was so entirely dry. It was crumbly without any type of seasoning that you could taste. I was presented with a gelatinous mess that was considered gravy in an attempt to rehydrate the meatloaf . My server was great, and I love the building but I won t be back. The food isn t worth the price by far and I ve been disappointed too many times here.

I went there for my birthday. The service was wonderful. The food was excellent, and the ambiance was amazing. Also, because it was my birthday, I got a free dessert . The drinks were amazing as well.

Gorgeous old building! Very friendly bartenders. Incredible She-Crab Soup. Laid back vibe. I highly recommend for the ambiance and a great way to cool off on a very hot afternoon!

The service was great and the overall resturaunt is beautiful with the live music. The food however didnt really match up to its price point. Food felt like it was microwaved and some of the meat was dry. We also had the reservation labeled as a birthday and didnt get a free cake like other.

The specialty here is prime rib. You will receive a thick cut, nicely marbled. The pork chop was great quality but could have used some marinade. Service here is high level. My family and I love this restaurant. The service and quality of the dishes are always amazing. If you want a Richmond premier dining experience and food that tastes incredible, as well as great drinks, you should definitely visit this restaurant. Attended for an anniversary dinner last minute and they were so accommodating! We sat on the third floor and had the best view of the Victorian-esque dining area! Our server was wonderful and so helpful and attentive. Would recommend the wagyu meatloaf and the prime rib with the baked potato. Also the Northern Lights cocktail is DIVINE. We will definitely be back!

This is a very eclectic restaurant that offers an old Richmond feel. The atmosphere was lively and inviting. Our group enjoyed the surroundings. The drinks, food and service were mediocre. This was our visit to this restaurant and it could have been an off night. I would definitely come back.

We visited on a saturday night. The place is BEAUTIFUL, and lots of history which is laid out in a section of the menu. There was live music, with an incredible band. Drinks were great. Loses 1 star as the steak was lacking, also staff needs more training when it comes to food allergies. I was told I could eat something only for them to realise it had my allergen. A few days out and I ve broken out all over my face! Thankfully, I didn t have more and the waiter corrected their mistake because it could have been much worse.

We went to The Tobacco Company last night for our 3rd Anniversary Dinner and we had an amazing time!! Our waiter Greg at Table 5 was the best!!! So knowledgeable of the history. It was very busy in there but he was very happy and took time to share the history with us!! We will definitely be back!!!

I went for a client dinner and it was great. The service was great. The food was excellent overall. They were sensitive to dietary restrictions and celiac. The building itself was beautiful. I got burrata, fried green tomatoes, some bourbon drinks, and the prime rib. I did remove a star because my prime rib was cooked very medium when I requested med rare. I also removed a star on atmosphere because it was incredibly hot on the second floor. The whole party was sweating ... Faces GLISTENING sweating... And I feel that distracted from the ambiance and conversation. Mind you it was a 90 degree day. Dietary restrictions: They modified the meals for celiac and gluten sensitivity Parking: There is parallel parking on the street with a 2 hour limit... On a slope. Or a garage you must drive by on a one way road to get the the restaurant

Had a table for 12 booked for my birthday. The reservation was made over a month ago and confirmed. The day of my birthday and just 7 hours before the reservation they called to tell us that they were cancelling our reservation because there was too big of a window between the previous reservation and us . We weren t able to come in any earlier due to having tickets to an event prior to dinner. It completely screwed us over for my birthday dinner since no other places could accommodate a party of 12 with just a few hours notice (understandably and I would feel so guilty springing that on another place at such short notice). If they knew Mondays were a typically slow night then they could have given us enough warning of the cancellation so we could have at least booked something else instead of just hours before. They didn t seem apologetic at all and the fact that the reason they cancelled is not because of an emergency or issue but because they just didn t want to stay open for us (even with it being during their listed open hours). They completely screwed us over and it was very unprofessional.

Truly a five-star experience in Richmond. This long-lived eatery shows no signs of wear. Every aspect was phenomenal, from the decor and ambiance, to service, a creative menu and divine cuisine. Absolutely spectacular.

We had a girls night out to celebrate my birthday. We did not have reservations for dinner but we didnt need one ... we got there for happy hour ...got a table by the bar and enjoyed the awsome ambience, great food, drinks, and music. Madison, our server, was excellent!! John, manager, checked in on us from time to time to make sure everything was good and everything was Great! Will be back soon!

There was some amazing live music and a fantastic bar team. Olivia took great care of us being friendly quick and very knowledgeable. The whole atmosphere was great. 10/10

This is another review from my second visit. From my first visit to this next was night and day. This vist was what I was expecting. The service was excellent just as it was last time. Atmosphere amazing but the most important was the food. This visit it was commensurate to its price point and advertised expectations. For this meal I ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer which was outstanding. My main course was the scallops with risotto. The scallops are sweet and cooked to infection. The risotto was spot on well as the asparagus. For dessert I tried the bread pudding again and it was what I expected Bread pudding to be. Warm, fluffy, buttery, sweet goodness. My compliments to the kitchen staff for stepping up their game and delivering what I was expecting. I cant wait to bring my wife back to experience the Tobacco Company. Me and my colleague arrived at 6:15 for dinner. This place has a very charming and cool atmosphere. Happy hour was till 6:30. I ordered a beer and it took 20 minutes for the bartender to get that beer out so I was only able to get one beer during the happy hour. Not a big deal. Ordered our meal at 6:30 which was a side salad and the fillet with lump crab and blue cheese. Salad took 45 minutes to come out. The side salad consisted of a handful of romaine leaves, four grape tomatoes and a handful of dried cranberries. Overpriced for nothing . Our meal came out right behind the salads. My steak was quartered medium rare but came out more medium to medium. Well. The lump crab looked good but had a ammonia smell and taste and was bad. I set Crab aside and just ate the steak. Being a filet it wasnt that bad being more medium. The potatoes and asparagus were good. The manager came over and offered to take care of part of the check and threw in a dessert. I ordered the bread pudding. Bread pudding came out ice cold and incredibly hard and dense smothered in white chocolate sauce and was not good at all. It was so hard the fork could barely cut it. I shared my experience with the manager. They took care of most of the bill. If it wasnt for Abby, the manager and Allie our waitress, it probably would have been a total fail there. I may try it one more time, but the back of the house kitchen staff needs to deliver on the food to match the price point and the very nice atmosphere. This place is in my opinion very overpriced.

Just stopped here for drinks and live music but WOW, I m in love! The ambience is impeccable, specialty cocktails fantastic, and service fast and friendly. Loved dancing my heart out amongst such a unique atmosphere. I am from Manhattan so finding a bar that truly impresses me is a rarity (this one is just as amazing, with much more palatable prices!). Can t wait to try some food here on my next trip south.

We checked this place out to celebrate completing our move to Richmond recently. I always enjoy this type of steakhouse environment and The Tobacco Company did not disappoint. Old school vibes, great food, and great service. We sat at the bar for both drinks and dinner. Dinner was great, even though my wife and I switched dishes after they arrived. Just had a change of appetite! But the scallops and prime rib were both great.

Maybe they were having a bad night but we did not have a good experience here. Ordered the signature prime rib to share. Asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out just about rare and with a bunch of fat sitting on the side of it. Eventually our server came back to see how it was and we showed him that plus the side of green beans and carrots only had one carrot each. He agreed and disappeared. Then a person arrived who we believe must have been a manager. She gave two plates of carrots which was ridiculous. We showed her the undercooked meat and she agreed, brought us two new plates. The new prime rib was no better so we ate around the least red areas and called it a night. They also never delivered the bread that our server and a food deliverer said theyd bring. I dont know if something bad had happened to our server that night, but he was less than welcoming. Band started about 45 minutes into our meal so at least we were entertained for a bit. Not a great night.

What a nice place! It was just the two of us for a late dinner. We started with the crab soup and the stuffed mushrooms. We then got the king but prime rib with extra sides to split. Everything was delicious. Told our server we were going to grab dessert at the bar, when we tried we were told the kitchen was closed. But wait we were just offered dessert upstairs . Anyway wouldn t let that ruin the experience really enjoyed it.

We went there last night for the first time. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food was very good. However, the waiter spilled an entire glass of wine on me, From my shoulder down to by lap. He apologized and I understood that accidents happen. I did not complain. The weird thing was that was the only apology I received -no one came over from management. It made me feel like it wasn t important enough to acknowledge, and actually was since I was soaked the rest of our time. We had plans on going out afterwards but we had to go home. Then we got the bill and nothing was credited. I thought at least the glass of wine that I was wearing should have. It makes me sad that you have to be a complainer to get good customer service.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant for dinner! The steak was outstanding, too. We each had something different, and everyone was thrilled with what they got. Highly recommend the she crab soup to start, too. The space itself is truly a highlight, with a large, open center thats just fun. Loved it!

Beautiful atmosphere and good food and drinks. Best part was when the manager came over to let me know I got a parking ticket, but that he would cover me and my friend s first round of drinks to make up for it. AND found us a safe place to park. AND let us in downstairs for free. Amazing.

I mean if you re in visiting Richmond, you owe it to yourself to come here. The atmosphere, design, and decor is just stunning. The food is ok, definitely very good food but the wow factor is in the look and feel of the place. An old cigar factory feel mixed with fancy dim lit chic. Enjoy

Best restaurant in Richmond! I had a borderline magical experience here for my birthday! Absolutely incredible! Sitting in the 3rd floor gave us a nice view of the chandelier and the historic interior as well as the skyline of Richmond outside. A jazz troupe from DC performed live and they were fantastic! Food was incredible and reasonably priced for a restaurant of this caliber! Probably the best value for a high end restaurant in Richmond. My parents are never impressed by restaurants but our experience here blew them away. We will absolutely be back for every special occasion! I recommend for special occasions and trying to impress your date!

Absolutely awful. Been here a couple times and this time around I ended up having my little brother jumped on the dance floor! Bouncer claimed he stopped it and then a different bouncer claimed he personally stopped it. Turns out the first bouncer ended up having some kind of relationship with the assaulters and wouldn t give any information on them. Personally will not be coming back here because of the poor management. 0 stars 100%. I am disgusted with the fact my brother could be beat up by 6 people in the middle of a dance floor.

Do yourself a favor and get the prime rib! The scallops or shrimp make an excellent surf & turf, and to start, may I recommend the calamari? My table was very satisfied with the fried oysters, she crab soup, and arugula salad with candied nuts. The service is what youd expect from a high-end spot, and everything was delicious. 10 out of 10, will eat here again.

Dinner was great we had seafood pasta and vegetable lasagna. You have to have their desert Butter Cake! Definitely plan to make it back here.

My girlfriend and I went for dinner. I ordered the ribeye steak. The steak was cooked to the correct temperature (medium rare as ordered), however it had no seasoning and was extremely chewy. TTC is a cool building and the service was above average, but there are much better restaurants in Richmond for the price point.

I dined on January 3, 2023. Met the GM at the bar and we had a nice conversation. My party arrived and went upstairs to the dining room. My party consisted of 4 adults, a 5.5 year old and an infant. Our waiter was unenthusiastic and his attitude did not change through the meal. When our bill arrived, I was charged 20perc for having 6 people at the table. I guess the infant who slept through the meal counted as the 6th person at the table. I typically tip 25-30% but did not add any additional tip. I called and left a message for the GM the following day but my call was not returned.

Over the weekend a group of us dined and enjoyed live music at The Tobacco Company. We had such a good time. Rob the manager that was working that Saturday evening was amazing as well as the other staff! Rob and our waitress were attentive and made sure that our evening was enjoyable. Thank you! Rob went beyond and above to correct a mishap and his customer service was professional and much appreciated. Parking: Nice to have a parking garage around the corner in close proximity

The building and atmosphere are absolutely amazing. Service was OK, one of our dishes was wrong. Caesar salad was inedible with all that blue cheese on it. Vegetable lasagne is more like cheese lasagne with some vegetables added. I see why this place is so popular in Richmond, but it definitely favors people who want to eat a big chunk of meat and feel fancy.

I had reservations last night at Tobacco Factory to celebrate my fiancés birthday. Sadly I did not even make it past the front door. I was dress coded at the door for not having belt loops on my pants. I will take the blame for that as I didn t look for a dress code before arriving. But what was irking was as I was looking for somewhere else to dine I watched the doorman allow another gentleman in with the same exact style of pants I was wearing. The doorman asked him if he had belt loops, he said no and allowed him in anyways. I m happy for the guy for getting in but witnessing that right in front of me was extremely irritating.

Frankly one of the best one-off dining experiences Ive had. The location is incredible, with century old rafters and exposed brick. Three floors with an open view of each floor through the center. It is warm and inviting and I loved it. The food was top rate. We had a black and bleu with broccoli and smashed potatoes, the steak Oscar with incredibly fresh tasting crab, and the star of the night was an amazing Wagyu special with scalloped potatoes and mushrooms. Each steak cooked to perfection with a crispy crust and medium-rare center. And finally, the service was friendly, attentive and perfectly timed on asking about drinks and dessert. They were knowledgeable of the menu and seemed honestly enthusiastic about the food. A+ Will be a destination each and every time I find myself in Richmond.

This is a critical review based strictly off of cost value. For the price vs quality getting a 3 overall. Albeit none of my scores for taste, service and atmosphere were lower than 4. So strictly off of overall quality. We had steaks. I ordered my 2 x 4 oz medallions be cooked medium rare, my cohort requested medium well. Our order were sent reversed; mine came medium well, and his rare. My coworker sent his back. They returned the steak in 5 minutes covered in that beautiful Béarnaise sauce uncooked still. Aside from the inconsistency in the cooking of the food everything was pretty good, not stellar, but good. For this kind of cost I expected a little bit more from high end dining. Parking: Parking is awful. Expect to arrive early and walk.

Cobblestone is not wheelchair friendly. I had to use a portable ramp to get to the lounge area. The process made me feel a little nervous. The men who assisted me were very helpful. Wheelchair accessibility: The side door is used to get wheelchairs in and out the building. Beware they will use the portable ramp and the bathroom isnt accessible.

Service and food were wonderful, especially since they were serving a party of 6. 2nd floor dining has great ambiance; make reservations! Will be returning!

The charm of this place is in the historic building and classy decor. We celebrated a Queens 83rd birthday. She was able to enter thru the handicap entrance avoiding stairs and we took the elevator to the 2nd floor for seating. The lighting, semi-private dining tables, chandeliers, various bars, and of course the amazing food selections add to its charm and the overall dining experience. Everyone enjoyed our dishes and the drinks were mixed to perfection. At our meals conclusion the manager, Joe, was kind and patient enough to snap photos for us. 10/10....food, atmosphere, and service! Every time I have dined here, my experience has been memorable. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, wheelchair accessible. There is a side entrance with no stairs, also elevator and grab bars available.

They went above and beyond to correct a issue. General Manager was attentive. Server was probably the best Ive had in this state. Food was delicious and cooked to order.

This place is great to just sit and look at the old workmanship of the building. Expect to spend a little bit more here.

Stopped by the day after xmas, had a couple of cocktails at bar and then dinner upstairs. The seasonal cocktails were creative and pleasing. Our server, Becca, was awesome. Food was on point.....everyone enjoyed their entrees........yummy butter cake dessert.

Had a 5:30pm reservation for my team and I (they opened at 5, so we were some of the first people sat for the day, keep that in mind). The seasonal cocktails were good, but weak. The she crab soup and crab cakes were amazing. Now to the not so amazing part. Everyone in our party of 4 sent back their entrees. Everything was either over cooked (steak and pork chop burnt and tough) or under cooked (pasta was crunchy). The fried green tomatoes were bland, and all our food came out luke warm! Idk what they have changed or who the new cooks in the kitchen are, but they are severly underperforming. This was my second time coming, and I doubt I will be back. The price point is too high to not get the quality of food youre expecting. Outside of the questionable food our waiter and the manager were very nice, apologetic and professional.

My wife and I had dinner here on a Saturday night and I have nothing but good things to say. The food was delicious. Our server, Josh, was very attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was just perfect with the live band. We will certainly revisit.

The vibes were great all around. I proposed to my girlfriend at our dinner and it was a great experience. Our server Josh was a really cool dude, and I m sorry that I didn t involve him in the proposal! Josh was fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone who comes to Tobacco Co.

We have always loved the food, service and atmosphere, New Year s Eve was out of this world amazing! The woman behind the bar is fabulous! I had the best pomegranate martini! Seriously the best drink I ve ever had! If you are looking for a fun evening out I highly recommend the Tobacco Company!

If all you want is amazing food, attentive staff, and a super cool atmosphere with a bit of history, then this is the place for you. We took a vintage (but fully functional) elevator to the second of three floors to start the experience. Antiques all over, and a really cool vintage warehouse vibe. The prime rib, filet mignon, and filet tip pasta special with gorgonzola cream sauce was amazing. Sides cooked perfectly. (my one issue was that my son could not have one of the sides due to allergies, and there was no flexibility in substitutions, so we paid full price for a replacement side) I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone that enjoys great food in a cool setting.

This is an incredibly mediocre restaurant/dining experience... and for the price, I am a little disappointed. Our waiter seemed completely uninterested in my boyfriend and I - we look young so we sometimes receive this lack of attentiveness at nicer places. The food was pretty bland and the place was overall empty. The highlight was their Pickled Martini but with all the up and coming restaurants in Richmond, I dont think I will be coming back here.

The club has a super nice fine, but the guys at front door almost made us gave up to go, being rude. When we walked in.

On a Saturday night, had dinner upstairs and then sat at the bar downstairs to listen to a great band playing covers. This is probably my new favorite restaurant! If I could give the atmosphere 10 stars, I would. The lighting was perfect, the exposed brick and wooden framing, the three floors all arranged around a large open space, the giant urns with perfectly arranged greenery, the open iron-decorated elevator, the lamp on the hosts desk...could not have been more romantic. The food (calamari, bread, she-crab soup, arugula salad) was amazing. The waitress was delightful and attentive. The bar was also a very pleasing atmosphere with a glowing bar top. Here the bartenders were inexperienced and our drinks were not very good (gin and tonic provided without a lime, margarita mix, too much ice in both) but the atmosphere more than made up for it. I love this place. Not cheap but so worth it!

Really enjoyed the happy hour but put off by the cocky 20 something bartender who asked me why when I asked his name. JACK

We arrived 1 hour 10 min before they close( during the week) and they told us that the kitchen closes at 9 and we were not able to sit upstairs so come earlier if you really want to enjoy the place! We were super hurried to order food, but it arrived fast and was delicious. I only wish I could sit upstairs and get more of a view from the place bc it is pretty!

Oh my god, the hostess was SO RUDE to us! We were in the area and found the restaurant on google maps. It was like 7:45 Friday night and we checked the reservations and they were wide open - tables available for 8, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, 9, etc.... I was like no need to reserve, well just walk in. We got there and the hostess looked up at us and was like do you have a reservation? We said no, and she just immediately said, ok, well the upstairs is full but you can take a seat at any of the tables in the bar area. I was like, um... if I just go online and reserve right now can we sit upstairs? And she was like mm, yes... So I literally pulled out my phone and made the reservation right there, but it was 8:03 at the point and so the closest res available was 8:15. She had the audacity to say, please wait over there, Ill get you seated at 8:15, like she couldnt just seat us now (when we got upstairs there were open tables all over the place). The icing on the cake was that, despite the fact that we were literally 10 feet from her, she sent a *text message* notifying me that our table was available around 8:06 (3 minutes after we made the res and she said she couldnt seat us), and then waited FIVE MINUTES for me to check my phone, rather than just calling us over like a normal human. It was pretty clear at that point that this lady did NOT want us at her restaurant, for whatever reason. After all that, we went upstairs (again, open tables galore) and found the ambiance very charming and lovely, but the food below average quality and far above average prices. I think this place is running on looks alone, and for me, that cant save it.

Dined here last night. I was hoping for an amazing culinary experience for my birthday but the food was really not that great, which was disappointing. Both my love and I felt for a restaurant like the Tobacco Company that it was not up to par with the food and drink quality. The catfish was very salty, the broccolini was burnt, drinks, even a classic margarita was just tasting of just juice, and the flourless chocolate cake was brick hard. Underwhelmed.

The atmosphere was amazing but there was a very limited menu. I ordered crabcakes and they were just okay. I only received two which made me think the portion sizes are on the small side. Dietary restrictions: If you have dietary restrictions this might not be the best choice.

This was a great experience.. we went with a group of six and everybody got something different.. the fried oysters were great.. the chicken was a nice Hardy surprise, although the prime rib was a bit dry.. the hit of the night however was the black and catfish which was outstanding.. great Desserts and Drinks too

A great traditional Thanksgiving meal. The only miss was the key lime pie. More like a cheesecake, too thick and not tart. Otherwise its a fun place for a great time in a wonderful atmosphere. Service is first rate.

We have eaten at this restaurant twice in the last month. I have had the filet mignon twice ordered medium well (both times well done) and very salty. Husband had crab cakes once (very salty) and pork tenderloin--hard as a rock, returned and still not great on second try. The ambience, wait staff and managers are very nice, but the chef needs replacing in my opinion.

Had thanksgiving dinner there for the fourth time !! The food was amazing and so was the new General Manager !! Price was reasonable as well !!!!

I am here a lot because a local band be playing there and I like the food and the Atmosphere and the waiters is nice and the service was good.

The food was incredible... We both loved our food! Our waiter Elliott was even more fantastic. He was so personable, kind & helpful. TC is lucky to have him & he made it the perfect place to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary! The reason for not giving 5*s is it was so crowded & the tables were packed so tight that you could barely fit at your table. Also, while the food was delicious, b/w the portion sizes & prices, its making it less appealing.

A lot of wrong happened but the manager made it right

Few restaurants have atmosphere like this one. It is impressive normally, but they go all out with tasteful Christmas decorating. The food and service is spectacular, but you really need a reservation. They have live background music in the evening. In spite of there being so many people, our party of 6 felt very comfortable and received excellent service. Street parking is difficult, but there is a parking lot next door. Both their beef and seafood dishes were delicious.

Nice high class venue. Daminica was our server and she made us want to come back. Attentive service and never felt we needed to hail her. Appetizers were perfect (fried green tomatoes and crab cake). Steaks were overcooked ( Bayou Steak and Steak Oscar, medium rare but more medium). The drinks drinks were perfect (martinis and milk stout). For the price we wouldnt drive back from FL for it but my GF still enjoyed a nice birthday. Thanks Daminica.

The decor of this restaurant doesn t disappoint!!! So much character! So pretty ! The drinks were on point. The food was almost on point . The crab soup was so full of flavor. Lots of crabmeat in it. It was Nice and hot!!! I love when the soup comes out hot!! The Ahi Tuna was yummy!!! We ordered the pork chop which came out hot and delicious!!! The mashed potatoes were warm at best! We ordered a chocolate mousse cake that came out so hard we couldn t cut it with a spoon or fork. We were disappointed we had to send it back. Our poor sweet bartender had a glass fall and shatter all I we the counter we were sitting at , the manager came out and took care of our liquor bill . Over all , I would highly recommend!!!! We definitely will give this restaurant a second chance the next time we are in Richmond.

The building is historic, it oozes charm and elegance. The food is incredible. The cocktails are great and even if some arent quite great they are at least inventive. I tried a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned tonight, Im not sure why it worked, but it did. The wait staff were super professional and did amazing. Parking is really the only tricky part, but it is worth the effort.

I have lived in Richmond from 2000-2018 and never been here before but always heard such great things about it and how nice it is. I am currently back in Richmond visiting family and decided to finally try this place for my birthday. I was VERY disappointed. I didn t know that they only had one veggie dish on the menu (I m vegetarian). A veggie lasnaga I don t like veggie lasagna so instead we just decided to get dessert and wine. I know we should have moved over to the bar instead of taking a table up after finding this out but it was my birthday and I didn t want to sit at the bar. The waiter was had seemed to be slightly upset that we were taking up a table just for cake and wine. Which I understand but he was still left a very large tip for his time! The flourless torte was hard as a rock!!!!! It was as if it had been frozen and then thawed out and ruined somehow. I had to saw into it with my knife. I have had flowerless tortes in Chicago and Portland Oregon restaurants and never have encountered one that was hard as a brick! Also I am Mexican American and I felt that the other patrons were being prejudice. When I first walked in a there was a white family sitting next to me on the bench in the lobby. The mother of the family would not stop giving me dirty looks. She seemed like a Karen type who was clutching her pearls because of the evening gown I was wearing that showed a little bit of cleavage. I saw white women passing by us in there with very short dresses and they were NOT being gawked at by her . my gown was floor length but just showed some mild amount of cleavage.. but I was being started at like I had just broken a dress code! She made me feel like I shouldn t be there. I don t think the staff is racist at all but the type of white people that go here seem like old money types or upper middle class who don t want POC there. I had another encounter with someone women who were in a private event. The bathroom was in the private event room but the hostess said I was allowed to go in. The women at the party ran over to me to tell me about the puddle of water that I had ALREADY seen and was stepping over so I would trip. They came over to me and angrily told me I need to watch where I am stepping. I think they just didn t want me crossing in front of them to get to the bathroom. Any polite person would have told me nicely but these women seemed upset that I was in the room period. They prolly didn t even pay for the event I think it was a holiday party so not sure why they even cared other than I was the only none white person in the room. Needless to say I won t ever come back here. The only nice thing about this place is the ambience and the live band that they had. If I wanted that I could have just gone to a local show at a venue for cheaper!
