The staff and manager were all pleasant. The food was amazing and cooked with love. I will definitely come back here. Dietary restrictions: They made sure to double-check my allergies and assured me that there were staff members who were certified in CPR. They even cooked my meal separate so there would be no cross contamination.

I apologize up front because this is a long review. I learned of the Croackers Spot from a book I read by a local author here in Richmond. Afterwards I learned that these Croackers Spot won the 2011 Hoodie Awards for Best Soul Food Restaurant. I visited the Croackers Spot on December 6, 2024. I am from SC and I was in town attending an event with IBBP and I was excited about eating here. Upon arriving at the Croackers Spot I was seated immediately this was at 5:34 p.m. At 5:47 a waiter finally came to my table placed a haphazardly folded napkin on the table and said he would be right back. He never brought me a glass of water, bread nothing. Mind you I was seated by the window and it was extremely cold by the windows. I tried several times to get my waiters attention to at least order a hot cup of coffee or tea or something while viewing the menu. The waiter kept acknowledging, but never came back to my table. So finally I went to the hostess who seated and asked to be move from the table by the window to a more warm area. The hostess graciously moved me. By this time I had been waiting over 45 minutes no one came to take my also order a meal for take-out. Now here the straw that broke the camels back the parties of 2, 5 and 6 gets their food before me its now 6:47 p.m. I politely ask the waitress while she was serving the party 5 their food about my food and was basically told that because I order the grilled salmon it had to be cooked in the oven to which I replied its not grilled? the waitress response was they have to put on the oven first and then grill the salmon and the reason the other guests that came in after me orders were all fried entree. at this point I asked to speak to the manager and was basically told the same thing the waitress said except the manager apologize, they tell the staff to always inform guest if the choose the grilled salmon it will be at minimum a 45 minute wait time and basically saying it was my fault that I hadnt received my food in a reasonable time because I choose the wrong entree instead of accepting responsibility for the fact I had been waiting at this time for almost an hour and half. Finally my food arrive to my table at exactly 7 oclock. When I say was a disappointment. Such a let down. The salmon was blend, no taste, luke warm. The potatoes were cold and looked the were leftovers and the waitress had the nerves to inform me that my nerves broccoli will ready in a minute. I asked for a to go box, canceled the take-out order. I received my check and was told the manager didnt charge me for the take-out and since it was ready I could have the take-out on house. Really. As I was packing the salmon meal in the container the manager comes back to to offer me desserts. I know this is a long review, I need you to overstand, that I realize that it was the lady at the next table the party of 5 who went to manager and obviously expressed her concerns about my experience with the service and the quality of food and the fact that I was made to feel as though it was my fault for dinner selection for the reason it took so long to get my food. If I could give a zero rating I would. Its obviously the Croackers Spot is in name only now and not as it in its heyday of Mr. Croack himself. drink order let along my food order. Mean while a party of 2 was seated where I was seated earlier. A party 6 and then party of 5 was seated about 6:20 p.m.. A waitress come after seating the party of 5 to take my drink order and I gave her my entree and

Weve order from here many times. This time we decided to dine in. Food absolutely delicious. However as my wife and I get older we dont eat as much. With that said, this is the first Ive been charged a fee for sharing a meal. We were charged for the extra plate. Very interesting. If I had ordered take out, no would know I shared my meal. Nor charged for it.

10/26/24 5:30pm Friends have been saying how much they like Croakers Spot for many years. I said that we have to finally try this place out. I felt that this restaurant turned out to be 1 of the top 3 restaurants we have eaten at in the last 12 months. I had crab stuffed flounder, cabbage, chunky mashed potatoes. My wife had catfish, mac n cheese, French fries. Both had the cornbread. That was the best catfish I can remember having ever. Cornbread was sinfully good. Not a spot of shell in my crab (pet peeve of mine). I had no idea that cabbage could be that good. Seating was scarce, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was working so hard the whole time we were there, and yet still made time for us when I would ask about the drinks she was making. She never skipped a beat and just kept churning beautiful looking drinks out. We will definitely recommend Croakers Spot to our friends.

I have visited the Richmond location twice now. Both times, the food overall was good. I expected it to be a little better than it was based on what I heard from others. They had gone to the one in Petersburg. Both times, I ordered the Fish Boat 3 Pc. and both times, there were bones in the fillets, mainly on the ends and edges, making it difficult to eat and slightly unappealing... I wouldnt recommend this dish unless you want to pay $25 for fish where you can only eat mainly the center. The service and atmosphere were very good, making the experience overall worth it in the end. This is a pretty place, and parking can be a challenge.

The food is so exceptionally flavorful & plentiful...real down-home cooking at its best! Lots of business, Im sure, however, if the kitchen can connect with the serving staff to get the food on the table quick while it is hot, then the experience will be that much more excellent...I love the feel of the restaurant...such a beautiful setting with wood & bricked walls that feels like youve been transported back in time like a real oldies but goodies refined southern dining experience! Loved it!

Damn those naked chicken wings were WAY better than I thought they would be.

I ordered the Southern Sauteed Chicken mushroom & onion gravy with rice and Mac n cheese x$2.50! I was shocked at the small amount of gravy! The chicken breast was on top of a signifiant amount of rice and it barely had any gravy ! I specifically came for the chicken dish because I don t eat any type of seafood! In the future I would suggest being more generous with the gravy ! I didn t order the $5.00 charge for extra gravy!

I went on Oct 5,2024, my waiter was Pulk Plum. I didn t want to ask for his name again bc he had an attitude. We sat at the table to the right when I first walk in. The ceiling and or the ac vent was dripping onto our table Smdh. The food was not good. And the waiter had a funky attitude. I felt like he was too busy in my son s face vs making sure we were good. I ve lived in VA for years ans always wanted to go the this restaurant and I was disappointed. U don t have to worry about me ever coming there again. Also finding a parking spot was exhausting. Oyster rockefella was terrible. It was like vomit in a oyster shell.

A wonderful restaurant!!! If I could give this restaurant 6 stars I would...fast paced but great service! Atmosphere was lively and fun...our group loved the food...the best seafood in the area... mac and cheese is a very personal dish ...but they got it right...fish was crisp and tender...not greesy or dry...shrimp was fresh...cabbage was great...dessert wuz deee best ...we love it every time we come here!! completely worth the stop!

Lately, when I drive to Richmond from VA Beach, my 2 take-out meals come from Croaker Spot. It may set me back about $60 w/tip, but I always have enough for 3 servings. I give the other order to my Son, who loves their food too. GREAT taste, love the choices I have made. The food is just GOOOODD!!!!

Ordered a seafood chill bowl thru Uber eats. It started what all came in bowl and sides. Cost was around $30. When I recieved the ordered it was missing the rice and cornbread. I called to restaurant and explained to management what I missing with my meal. I was told that it wasnt there problem what I was missing and that it was a 3rd party that I Ordered my food from. I was surprised because being a business owner myself seems that the two would have to coraspond with each other to perform an effective service. Was traveling south from DC to SC, decided to stop in Richmond for a good bite to eat. It wasnt just good...it was a great experience! This location is a true dining gem!! Great staff, great menu choices, great ambience, and very clean (including the bathroom). The manager and servers were very attentive and wanted to make sure we were satisfied. The staff was very knowledgeable of the Croaker Spot history and did not hesitate to share! Loved it!!

My family I chose this establishment to eat while visiting in Richmond from northern va. I had previously dined at the Petersburg location and was thoroughly impressed with their food as well overall experience. Unfortunately that was not the case this time at their Richmond location. I understand restaurants get busy and things happen.. but to wait over hour for our food then be rushed out 10minutes after receiving our food was just unacceptable. My first mistake was the oysters.. how can they be warm when they are served on ice so you can imagine what they must ve tasted like. Needless to say I have never had oysters like that before. The waitress came back and could tell we were unhappy with them initially but we were being nice when she had showed up with our meals is when we mentioned the quality of our appetizer to which her reply was Oh well. Our waitress then went on saying how we should have ordered another item on the menu. I didn t even ask for the food to compensated or even insulted the meal, but I thought they should know if they intend to sell anymore that tonight as they tasted spoiled. We left it at that and ate our meals which the food was very good, as my family is enjoying our meals we had JUST received we were already being offered boxes, and our for some us to stop what were doing to hand her the plates.. I was in fact still eating she kept trying to take our plates when we never got to enjoy our dinner.. no one at my table had been able to finish our food comfortably as fast as we were being rushed out. Then the checks come.. we had two checks for our table my mother in law has signed her receipt and then my fiance is about to sign his receipt and the waitress comes and tells us My manager needs you to sign then receipt. As if he didn t intend to or was refusing to to do so.. which believe me we couldn t get out of there fast enough. The funny thing was we were less disappointed by the wait and more disappointed by the service received.. I felt embarrassed being the one who suggested having our dinner there especially since we were so excited for it and I had nothing but good things to say about my experience at the Petersburg location. For polite, and paying customers who spend at least 300$ to say we left the restaurant feeling extremely unappreciated, and not welcome. This is definitely applebees behavior. I ve received better service at Applebees. I wish other folks better luck in the future.. but we should have got the tacos.

We visit for lunch today. Its been a while since I had been, but oh, the food was so delicious. Each of us left with leftovers because the portions were bountiful.

My wife and I always eat at Croakers when in Richmond. The food and service is great. The corn bread serving is huge and some of the best we ever had. This restaurant used to be a soul food and now is seafood, but the food is largely the same.

The catfish was good the potatoes were ok those greens were not good at all to much vinegar and sugar and they taste like they were burned.

Im new to Richmond. I ordered the sautéed chicken meal which was delicious! The portion was also large. But the to-go service is not good. They need two people taking orders. I was there ready to order. He had me standing for a good 10 minutes constantly answering the phone. When he finally did take my order he told me to put my card in the slot, which wasn t working. This man literally held my card and answered more phone calls, so I stood there another 10 minutes. I finally asked him to hold off on the phones so he can put my order in and give me my debit card back. Definitely need to work on time management. Like I said the food I ordered was really good, just dont have high expectations for the to go section

THEY GAVE ME A GIFT CARD because of bad customer service from a previous visit AND THE GIFT CARD DECLINED . Seriously throw the whole restaurant away. If you are searching for a place to eat, go to both the Petersburg and Richmond Croaker Spot pages on Google. Click on reviews, and then where it gives you the opportunity to sort the reviews, select LOWEST. Read through the bad reviews before you decide to come here. Believe me, they do not tell the half of how awful the experience at these restaurants are. The Croaker Spot that we have all come to love is dead. Throw the whole business away at this point. The food isnt the main problem, the customer service is. The employees are. And the worst of their problems is the management team. I have written TWO terrible reviews, both of which should have been concerning to management. The first review was not just about bad service but also about the bigger problem of feeling unsafe in the Petersburg location because of a young male employee that continued to behave towards my family in a way that was dismissive at best, and threatening at worst. Really not sure how he was even hired.... My second bad review was on account of the actual management team responsible for responding to customer complaints. They responded to my initial complaint and had me email my info and a lot of really unhelpful back and forth ensued. They were extremely unprofessional in email, which is really wild considering I was supposed to be communicating with the customer care team... Anyways, I chose to go to the Richmond location to pick up a gift card meant to make up for the experience. When I arrived I had a laugh because the gift card was for $25. Considering how much we spent initially and how bad our experience was, that amount was a complete joke, but that was on me because I should have known to ask the amount before I even drove out there to see if it would even be worth my time. It wasnt. My husband and I went back to the Richmond location yesterday to use the gift card and they refused to honor it because they said the gift card that I received FROM THEM had declined. You can clearly see on the gift card that its from Croaker Spot. I then gave them the receipt THAT THEY GAVE ME that stated the card was good for $25 as proof, and even WITH the receipt they refused to honor it. My husband and I could only laugh at that point because of course we should have expected more foolishness and disrespect from Croaker Spot. We paid, tipped the server and left. We were given a card to call and speak to another manager. But this should have been handled in the restaurant before we left. Any manager with any customer service experience AT ALL, or any sense would have known to take the gift card and the receipt and simply honor the gift card, but not at Croaker Spot. This restaurant and its management team are a joke. No idea how this place has survived this long. You cant keep doing business this poorly, mistreating your customers all while charging top dollar, and think people will continue to patronize your establishment. I certainly will not. The Richmond and Petersburg locations will soon follow in the Norfolk locations footsteps. And for anyone who doesnt know what happened to the Norfolk store, look it up and you will see that it is PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

This is my favorite meal in Richmond. The Chelsea dish is the best! Don t sleep on the yams or the greens either. So delicious!

My husband and I go to croaker spot on a regular basis. Last night the food was horrible. EVERYTHING came out cold except our chicken wing appetizer. We waited 40 minutes for our appetizer and our entree came out 3 minutes after the appetizer COLD. The server was great but the quality of the food has gone down tremendously at this restaurant. I ve had issues before this but last night was the final straw. When you spend over 100 dollars at an establishment you expect to enjoy the experience. Please don t respond to my review telling me the customer care team will reach out. I m not interested in ever visiting again. I hope the restaurant takes a good look at the cooks, management and how they handle complaints.

Out of the 5 of us who went for their brunch, 3 plates were very okay. The other 2 who had fish were not told what type of fish it was. There were so many bones that they were not happy with it. The corn bread was fabulous.

The food is always amazing. However the wait was extremely long for the fish boat. Nonetheless, the manager came around to ask about our experience and when she heard about the wait she made sure to address it and even gave us a discount. The food never disappoints.

Food is very good

The wait for our food was ridiculous I had my mother with me and she is a diabetic. I didnt care much for our waitress she wasnt that friendly. She didnt seem to care that we wasnt receiving our food. Im very big on customer service and Im very turned off. My will not be returning.

1st time visiting, food & customer service was great.

Ive been there several times and was always happy with the food except for this last time. We wanted over 45 minutes for our order, even though some other tables that arrived after us were served. I ordered the crabcake sandwich and it was dry and served with frozen french fries. Definitely overpriced for a simple sandwich. Also ordered a soft drink and realized when we got home that they charged us for it but never brought it. Overall not as positive of an experience compared to other times.

The wait wasnt long, the food came fast, the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. The fish was nice and fresh but to me not season enough, the cabbage wasnt soft and the yams was great and just right, Mac and cheese was perfect. 9.5/10 I will surely be returning soon . Parking: It was on a busy street, so looking for parking along curbside or other nearby streets where difficult.

I recently had lunch at this restaurant with a relative, an elderly East African woman, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was attentive. We felt well taken care of, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. However, there was one moment that left me feeling a bit uneasy. After I paid the bill and left a tip of 28.25%, our waitress, who had been friendly throughout our meal, made a comment as we were getting ready to leave. She said, We live off tips and well appreciate it. This struck me as unprofessional, especially since I had already tipped generously. I m sharing this not to diminish the great aspects of our visit but in hopes that management can address this with the staff. It s possible there was some misunderstanding my relative was dressed traditionally, and we were speaking in a foreign language. Regardless, its important that every guest or customer feels equally respected and valued, no matter their background. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. My husband, son, and I ate here today, and Wowww! The food was scrumptious! Everything we ate was amazing! We had the combination platter that had fish, shrimp, crab cakes and scallops along with four delicious and gigantic sides, and corn bread that melts in your mouth with every bite. The lemonades and ice tea were delicious as well. My son s wings were also great. If you want a great starter, the clam chowder was rich in flavor with every mouthful! We were passing through after flying in today, but we will come again and again when we are in the area. Locals, you have a gem in your midst! This place has good food, but bad attitude customer service. The cashiers are pissed off because theres lines coming out the front door mad because theres too many orders coming in all at once. I guess its a bad thing to have good food and people want to come in and just buy more of it Best thing to do when you have good food I guess to yell at your customers beware of the cashiers great service is sad. Home-cooked food! OMG! DELICIOUS

Happened upon a YouTube clip from Steve Harveys Hoodie Awards. Croakers won for Best Soul Food. Realized I would be in Richmond, and the family took me there. Huge portions, great flavors, and outstanding service. Old school outstanding! Parking: On-street free 2-hour parking is available but the area is busy and may be hard to find.

Anytime we are in Richmond we stop here to have delicious down home seafood and sides. Not to mention the yummy cakes for dessert. Great drinks too! Our server, Jamila, was great as well.

The food and service was awesome!

We popped in during the afternoon of Juneteenth and this place was understandably packed. But they said the wait would be 20 minutes so we waited. They got us a table sooner than that and apologized for being so busy and having less wait staff than they needed. Yet they were still so great to us, attentive and refilling our waters, etc. The food came out hot and reasonably fast and was delicious. The whole vibe of the place was of a local, happy neighborhood eatery where everyone was treated right and got great food. Well definitely be back!

Update! Was ask to reach out to the care team and STILL no one has called me to rectify anything! SMH 6/23/2024 I went to the Petersburg location and ordered wings dings and fries I had so many fathers on my wings that I couldnt eat it. So I brought it to the mangers attention and her response was all of their wings are like that. I went on to ask do they clean them and the manger response to me was we dont clean our chicken. I asked this twice and got the same response. I told my waitress and she could only hang her head in embarrassment another manger came over and apologized about the situation and said we do clean out chicken she is new here. I dont care if you are old or new some stuff is common sense. And since my wings had all those feathers on them I have no choice but to believe they dont clean them. 6/30/2024 Seeming so I cant get anyone to answer the phone I cant complain about my slice of cake that has egg shells in it. Horrible Hostess: Saturday july 13, at approximately 1:15pm. I had a party of 5 and was told it would be a 45 min wait to be seated. So i asked if we could break up the party and be seated separately because I have a 99 yr elderly lady that we were celebrating her turning 99 at your restaurant. I asked the hostess if we could have a booth in which 3 were available at the time and was told no because if we separated us it would be 2 at one table and 3 at the other which we agreed to. The Hostess said she could not seat us at a booth due to there being only 3 people but when you first walked in the door there was a booth that only had three people sitting at it. Then she told me if I was not comfortable I could go to the Petersburg location. I traveled from Raleigh NC to take out the Matriarch of our family that has lived 9 decades and you going to tell me to go to your other location in this heat, that is 26 miles away: I told her if i wanted that location i would have went there: She will not dictate to me where to spend my money plus she is not aware of my circumstances. She has a nice nasty attitude. I could have been a food critic, your food could be the best in the world but the service sucks. That is like giving me food on a dirty trash can. Which is unacceptable. Businesses should try to accommodate their customers but you do not have to worry about that anymore, thats $250 + Tips your hostess cost your establishment. Your staff should be taught when theyre talking about your customers, do so in a manner that the customer does not know that theyre the topic of conversation. The only pleasant person was the waitress that tried to serve us at the table of 3: To the Owner: The hostess offered the chance to speak to the manager but stated she was going to tell me the same thing. The reason for the request for the booth was for my elderly Aunt being uncomfortable in open spaces, so we just wanted her to be comfortable and to enjoy the food. I could have cared less where we sat. I feel like I was basically ordered by your hostess where we were going to sit, and if you dont like it, leave, so I left. I refused to be disrespected as soon as I walked in the door. That is not good customer service. You might want to change the face of your business. Andrea H. Burse

The food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the prices. I spent $30 on a Caesar salad and ordered extra dressing and it came with absolutely NO dressing. Would not spend money here again.

Traveling and stopped in, the service, food, drinks, and vibe are all 10/10. I look forward to my next visit in richmond. I have never had better mac and cheese in my life. Xo

Awesome food but service can be better

Im in Richmond on contact as an RN in Case Manager with my husband. We enjoy trying new places to eat with hopes of finding a great place to frequent. We also love to patronize black-owned establishments. Today my husband wanted seafood. So we googled seafood restaurants and came across one place that we drove to and didn t like the area and didnt feel comfortable eating there. So we came across Croakers Spot and saw that it was black-owned and were immediately excited by the anticipation of good food with a soulful taste. So we drove there and we were satisfied with the area. We went into the restaurant and were greeted pleasantly by the host. We were seated at our table & our very gracious server, Tanisha R was very nice and helpful when asked about dishes. Tanisha never appeared rushed or frustrated by our questions. She was very attentive and efficient. We received our appetizer, barbeque shrimp, after tasting them we felt encouraged that we had chosen a restaurant where we would be satiated and be able to frequent once we had an appetite for seafood. My husband ordered the chicken fettuccine. I know I said the same thing, I thought you wanted seafood. But he said his palate was satisfied with the shrimp! I ordered the grilled seafood platter. We both loved our dishes. My husband appreciated all the sauce, with enough chicken and bread. He said everything was well-flavored. I appreciated that the fish, scallops, shrimp, crab cakes, cheese grits, rice, red potatoes, cabbage & cornbread were well-flavored. The grilled meats were grilled to perfection. The crab cakes are by far the best I have had. I even tried to substitute the crab cake, but couldn t, because of my negative experiences. I told our server Tanisha the same about the crab cakes. Tanisha said they do not use any fillers in their crab cakes. They were awesome. We also appreciated the food presentation. My husband commented that the food presentation made him feel like they had pride not only in plating but also in preparing the food. I agree. The portions were very large. We couldn t eat it all in one sitting. We can not wait to indulge at supper. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely return to not only order the same dish again but to try other dishes.

The food here is always excellent. They give you more for your money. You will not be disappointed. The only thing I will say is be prepared for the LOUD college crowd that frequents the establishment. Other than that, I love the food and service.

I got the catfish dinner. The catfish wasn t fried hard. Mac n cheese was overcooked. Greens needed seasoning. The cornbread was the best thing. Definitely overhyped. Parking: No parking lot only street parking

Excellent food, great service at good price!

Outstanding service and food. The catfish, collard greens, mac n cheese, and sweet potato pie were amazing. I took my wife here for her birthday. We came down from Triangle, Virginia. Definitely worth the drive. Never in my life have I had soul food this good.

Our server was knowledgeable, caring and attentive. Fresh and tasty food. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Cornbread was slap yourself out of unconsciouness good!!

Listen, if you want some good soul food, this is it. Get the cheese boat, literally any sides (I like the collards and cabbage mixed together) and OMG the bread pudding is exactly what you need in your life. They make a lemon glaze to go on top. They cook their food fresh so it takes a little time. People know they are good so theyre always busy when I go. Worth the wait. Tartar sauce is delectably homemade. Sometimes they make experimental bread pudding, ALWAYS TRY THE EXPERIMENTS!!! BIG PORTIONS!!! I split the cheese boat with my wife, got 2 extra sides, desert, and have plenty of left overs. I spent about $40 plus tip for basically 3 meals and 4 deserts. Queer friendly, black owned business Dont forget to leave a tip, yall.

My first time there, my fiance took our younger son and me to experience the restaurant and this history if the place. Our server Josh is AWESOME extremely knowledgeable, fun and helpful and friendly. Looking forward to returning hope ti get him again!

Everything was so good. Wait was a little long but great food takes time. It was very loud in the restaurant so kinda had to yell across the table to communicate. I would come back every week here just to feel like I m getting a home cooked meal. And portions were perfect. Definitely had leftovers.

The food was amazing and big portions ending up bringing half home the service was great our waitress reed was amazing she took care of us we loved the atmosphere everyone was so nice and all the workers got along and we didn t have to wait long to receive our food food which came out nice and hot. The catfish was out of this swirl, macaroni and cheese. The greens the cornbread was amazing we will be going back.

The food was delicious. Freshly squeezed lemons and lime for my drink. Can definitely tell it is made with love.

We arrived at 11:30 to stand in line due to the fact it was Mothers Day. The service was very good the meal was large portions, the atmosphere was very cozy nice music playing. The CORNBREAD I COULD KISS THE CHEF ON THAT ONE, delicious big slices. The only downside was we had 6 people two was serviced at least 45 minutes sooner than the other 4 instead of the whole table being served at once. One waiter gave all the mothers a rose My meal was the Two Cheese Fish combination with red skinned potatoes. Also we celebrated my daughter graduation from VCU Kid-friendliness: They gave crayons and coloring pages to kids. Kid friendly menus and drinks in large quantities as well. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a door that stays locked but they will open for wheelchairs to enter.

Really excellent experience all around. Id heard great things about Croakers Spot and love seafood, and I was not disappointed. No wonder theyve been around for decades. Delicious fried fish (try their special sauce), rich & tasty sides, and cornbread was a highlight. Homemade limeade was great, as well. Looking forward to bringing my friends here.

I eat out a lot. From California to Virginia. This is by far the best meal Ive ever had in my life. From the perfectly cooked catfish, to the sweetest most moist cornbread! This place should save their recipes and franchise and Id buy the first one!! Great Job!!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I definitely recommend it. Its a 2 hour drive from me & we were already planning our next trip back before we even finished our dinner.

It always feels like a family affair at Croaker s Spot. Was excited to bring my mom and her new husband for an early dinner & she couldn t stop talking about how much she enjoyed everything. The staff gave a handwritten card of congrats on her marriage along with a desert, which was so thoughtful. Myself, my husband and kids had already eaten there multiple times already and this time just confirmed what we always raved about: this place lives and breathes the magic of soul food.

Got off 95 to find food. This place was right on point. Wonderful service

on Wednesday march-06-2024 the food was cold I talk to the manager she didnt help me about my problem. on Thursday April-04-2024 server name Jamela.c she gave out the best the food was good and hot. I go recommend her every time I go there. this going to be my waitress croaker spot in richmond va.

We were traveling through the area and needed food. We called to make a reservation, they said we didn t need one but when we got there, they had a table set up for us. The food was as good as food can get and the service was professional and friendly. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming as well. We talked with the owner and her husband for a while, and when we were leaving, we walked out with a guy who was getting his food to go. He said he gets his dinner from there a couple times a week and I completely understand why. The food was professionally made down home excellence, and I m still thinking about how good it was four months later. One of my teenagers described the food as freaking awesome!

Great food but bring your wallet and a friends wallet.

I went to Croaker spot with a friend on a Monday. We went for happy hour. We bothered ordered wine and food off happy hour menu. The lady whonwas at the bar who served us our drinks did not check back on us the entire time at the bar to see if we were okay and if we wanted another round of drinks or to order food. I wanted to order more when she came back to the bar so when I was about to ask her she told me to hold on bc she had to give another group boxes for there order to go. I was so turned off. She is suppose to be a waiter and she couldnt even multi task. The food we order were shrimp and fish tacos, both were basic. The wine was good. Cabbage was not good at all. There is no sense of urgency with the waiters at the bar who serve here. I would not come back to this location or establishment. Great happy hour drink and food prices but the customer serve is not great at all from some of these folks.

42$ Total for Twin Crab Cake Dinner! with collard greens & Grits was ready in 20/25 mins. the broiled crab cake were amazing. The cheese grits are probably some of the best grits I ve ever had in my life, the cornbread was soft & made just right.. everything was FRESH/HOT & well made. (the garlic in the collard greens i wasnt feeling it, ill get something else next time)

Awesome atmosphere. Took about an hour to get a table for four. Once seated it took about another hour to receive our food. Food was good not spectacular.

The food used to be really delicious but now its just ok. Not really flavorful. The fried fish is pretty good but thats about it.

Phenomenal! YaYa was a wonderful waitress with such a kind heart! We had never been to Croakers spot and now, we cannot wait to return! The corn bread is out of this world. The he cabbage, grits and salmon cakes were AMAZING! Chefs kiss! For a Friday night the environment was pretty loud, but it quieted down after a big group left :)

Absolutely perfect experience (and we even saw entertainer Craig Robinson!) Chill vibe! Good music! Great food! Lots of Black Girl Magic and Black Boy (MAN!) Joy from the staff! Went on a Saturday at 3:45 pm. We waited 30 minutes - reasonable considering how packed it was. Journey, hostess, was so sweet! We requested to change our booth to a table so we d have a high chair for our toddler. She quickly got us into another section. Our first server India China (sp?) was cheerful and kind. Our second server Isiah was upbeat, respectful and gave some awesome recommendations. The oyster s Rockefeller were yummy! My hubby had the Croaker s Kool Aid (adult beverage). Said it was good. The kids meal portion size was huge!! I ordered the ultimate feast!! Enough food for two or three people! Oh, it was DELICIOUS!! My hubby had the seafood feast and it, too, was large portion. Everything was seasoned well. Our sides included Mac & cheese, candied yams, collards, cabbage, and red mashed potatoes (laaaawd!) We had the -itis!! We all ordered a slice of cake (carrot; banana pudding; pineapple coconut) and a mini sweet potato pie to take home. We had 4 to-go boxes filled with food! We will definitely return the next time we are in RVA!!! Parking: We parked in a lot one street up. It was crowded and lots of puddles (was raining). There are no parking lines so folks were haphazard parked. Kid-friendliness: Hostess and servers were great to our kids!

Overall dining at this restaurant was delightful from start to finish. The food was fresh and full of flavor. Croakers stands out for the charming atmosphere, we felt welcomed and had a few laughs with our waitress Jameelah.

FIRST of ALL...Josh was perfection as a server...Ms. Tootie was personable and sweet. The food and the bartender knew what the heck she doing... Okay?! We will be back and I cant wait to come again!

Did a pick up order at 1:57pm and my food wasn t ready until 2:51pm almost an hour later which is unacceptable! Food was hot and fresh however, the Mac and cheese had a weird aftertaste, the chicken wasn t crispy and the fried shrimp wasn t crispy either. The greens and yams were the only thing that was good. Three meals for $110 isn t worth it in my opinion.

Carryout only service. Food is prepared after payment is made, so 20-30 minute wait after ordering. Food looks extremely good, but not as tasty as it looks. Staff is awesome.

I had the ultimate feast with catfish (get it fried) and the buffalo shrimp! My lawd!!!!! The limeades goodness gracious and did I mention Josh is the best server I have ever had!?!? Chile don t walk RACE to this spot. I m currently too stuffed to provide any further details, but as a DC native, I will be coming back next time I pass thru.

The service was great and food was even better. The signature cornbread is a dessert in itself. I love tartar sauce and theirs is obviously homemade to prefection. Crabcakes are made with backfin versus lump which was not the best but they were seasoned well. I would recommend new chairs and tables due to unsturdiness.
