Level Restaurant & Bar in Richmond

I love their sushi. My favorite is the Level Up.

Presentation is Everything and this place has it! Hidden treasure is what this is. I WILL be back. Service was great! Good portion sizes. Awesome food. UPDATE: Came back .... still GOOD!!! If youve never been .... GO.

Really excellent sushi at reasonable prices. We got a couple appetizers, a bottle of sake, some rolls, and I got a sashimi regular and everything was top notch even compared to the NoVa/DC places I m used to

Goos sushi and a bar that lights up when you touch it. Not much on atmosphere, but good with the sushi.

I went here for dinner with family and found the food really lacking in flavor and any authenticity, but the service was very nice!

I was forced to pick up food in the alley behind the restaurant next to the dumpsters. Was told it was due to seating even though there was only one group of costumers. I never seen a restaurant do this in Richmond. Smaller restaurants with less seating don t do this.

Went here for a work lunch. Got the chicken bento box it was fresh and tasty. Service was excellent.

Lovely lunch experience. Beautiful interior, friendly service, delicious food, and lots of specialty rolls. The yellowtail collar was super tender and tasty. Overall a wonderful experience.

Even if youre not particularly a fish person, their other food is absolutely amazing. I almost want to move to RVA so I can have their gyoza and chicken basil thai dish everyday we actually went back a second time and tried the chefs choice Sashimi as well and again it did not disappoint in the slightest! Both times, the staff were amazing, incredibly helpful, and accommodating (one visit was with a large group (10) the other was just my boyfriend and I). Very reasonably priced as well! We were seated immediately both times too!

The food is so good here. I sat at the bar top and that was fun. The bar top lights up, its a must see and taste!

I love this restaurant. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere and the food is consistently good. They are situated in the heart of downtown Richmond with easy access to the highway. I drive from Chesterfield at least once a month to visit.

The main thing, the food, was great! I had a special sushi roll and it was fresh and delicious, with lots of roe on top. Service was great, and atmosphere was good, but nothing special. I d go back and do recommend it.

The sushi rolls were amazing and customer service was fantastic. The nigiri sushi wasn t that good. The white tuna lost its flavor meaning it was old. Also, I thought the sushi was overpriced in my opinion.

The crunchy roll was out of this world. With most sushi places, we were kicking ourselves when we saw all of these other great platters coming out that we didn t order. Next time we will be more adventurous. Service was great and the facility was clean!

A classic RVA diamond in the rough! First time visit and Ill definitely make this part on my regular sushi circuit around town! Presentation was impeccable. The whitefish and white tuna sashimi were next Level! (pun intended ). Great HH, great music and sound system, and a full bar too!

I can t comment of the full menu because I m in love with 3 items: lo mien, mango chicken and the honey chicken. These dishes are amazingly flavorful and plentiful. Great service and atmosphere.

Both dine-in and delivery are great! Lots of options from simple sushi rolls, apps, speciality rolls, and hibachi options. While everything Ive had is good, my favorite part might be the salad dressing! Yum! Parking: There is a small lot next door but be prepared to park on side streets nearby.

Delicious sushi in a cool atmosphere albeit small space. Does get busy so prepare to spend some time if you go during peak times. Surf and turf roll was fabulous!

Had to wait 2 1/2 hours for my pickup order to be ready. Absolutely ridiculous. The worker was also quite rude when I asked why it was taking so long. Definitely not coming back again.

Simply Superior Sushi

I must have been there on an off day because the sushi was vastly worse than any previous visit. The tuna actually smelled bad as the plate was lowered to the table.

Great atmosphere. Service could be a bit better. I would definitely recommend it, as food was delicious.

Friend and I decided that we wanted to try and order off every page just to try different things and we were not disappointed. I wish we would have taken photos but nothing stayed on the plates long after it was brought out to us because of how delicious everything was. And for the two of us to have multiple appetizers, sushi combinations, and drinks, the total was under $200 including tip. Do yourself the favor and eat there.

We tried this place out of nowhere just to try something different. This was amazing. The service was excellent. The bar lit up different colors as it had items placed on it. All in all, I can t say much more, but 10/10 would recommend, including my typical, most eyed-upon, item, the price. Great for the quality

Delicious food in an urban atmosphere. There was only one server for the entire restaurant on Christmas Eve so our service was delayed at times however, she was attentive and very pleasant. Sushi was beautifully prepared.

Super solid sushi spot. It s unassuming from the outside, but stylishly sleek on the inside. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. I was there the day before Christmas Eve, and got there around 5:30ish. It was pretty empty, so I sat at the bar. The nice gentleman who provided service for me that day was awesome (I think his name was Daniel). He had no idea, but I was there alone after receiving some of the most devastating news of my entire life. I have no family in Richmond, and all I wanted to do was pile down good sushi and forget about the news for even a little while. It was the best food, service and company that I could have asked for on a day like that day, and Daniel s kindness on a day when I was so low, will never be forgotten.

Decent food great service. Decent price but nothing about the place screamed excellence. The salmon tasted very salty. Although Im no expert in the fish game, just my personal opinion.

Picked up three rolls for takeout Friday based on some suggestions by my coworkers the sushi wasnt bad but definitely didnt hit the spot. Id try it again for dine in to see if the quality is better

Dont order takeout from here. You pick up your order from the back alley which felt unsafe & sketchy at night. Sushi is also pretty small and not worth the price. Do not recommend at all.

Great selection of sushi and non-sushi meals (for those that want to join that dont prefer sushi)! The staff is always great and the ambiance is very modern (complete with a bar that lights up with touch!)

Dined in, and had the best sushi and calamari I have ever had. If you enjoy eel I highly recommend the Eel Love. Delicious. Staff is friendly and a great environment.

I was looking at the other reviews and they where saying things like dont judge it by its cover well thats what I did and it was not a great experiance. The dim dark theme of the restaurant at night caused me to trip twice. The food was bland and dry.

The sushi is really fantastic here. The rolls are quite large and filling, with nice details like sesame seeds.

I stopped by on a recommendation...the beer was warm, he calamari was over cooked, and Ive had better Spider Rolls at Sushi Kola in Fredericksburg. Also the service absolutely sucked. We were stuck in the back and the bartender was our waiter. Cool decor though. Very upscale Sweet Frog lighting.

Service was bad I must say. After being seated we were there without menus, water, utensils or even being greeted by our server for over 20 minutes. Even after being greeted, she took another 20 minutes to come back and get our order. The food was awesome though.

Fresh and yummy!

This place did not look like much from the outside, however the inside looks like and is a wonderful Japanese and Hibachi restaurant. The food is outstanding and stunningly beautiful to see. The Sushi was beautiful in the color combinations and in the blend of flavors. Additionally the beer selection was great and diverse.

My favorite sushi spot in Richmond. Definitely sit at the bar if you can. The LED lights are fun. Fresh fish, good portions. Can be hard to park if the adjacent lot is full.

Definitely better than the previous owner, and one of the better options for sushi within the city limits. Crunch roll was bad. Sashimi tasted fine but was small. Wontons were not good. Sushi was also fine. Server was very nice lady.

Honestly some of the best sushi in Richmond. Have been coming here a few times in recent weeks, service is consistently good, food is awesome. The fall in love roll is spectacular, and the honey chicken is great too.

Food was okay for takeout. Had a difficult time picking up a grubhub order. Was repeatedly sent from front entrance to unmarked back entrance before they were able to give food. They advised we should order directly from the site as there is an upcharge with grubhub. We get credits for grubhub so we will likely visit elsewhere since there is an upcharge here. Would probably not recommend for take out

We loved this resturant. Myself my husband and my daughter who loves sushi and wants to try all things Asian were so happy we tried it. Yes outside looks can be deceiving but the inside and food was amazing! We will be back! So many choices and everything we had was delicious.

After trying many sushi places in RVA (Akida, Osaka, Lucky AF, Carytown Sushi, etc.), I tried for the first time LEVEL Sushi and Asian Fusion. I was extremely impressed with the quality of their fish; extremely fresh and rather plenteous slices of sashimi (and it was a Sunday evening!). The menu is large and contains sushi/sashimi, hibachi, various Asian apps, other kitchen items, along with wonderful desserts like fried ice cream and tempura (fried) Oreos! The cool and laid back atmosphere inside belies the rather nondescript exterior. The servers were great; very welcoming and efficient. For me, I enjoyed my dining experience at LEVEL as much if not more than some of the other players in RVA. If you have not tried LEVEL, I encourage you to do so soon!

Level served my party of 10 smoothly. The sushi was phenomenal, especially the Fall in Love roll! I will say the inside was a bit lacking, I thought there would be cool decor but where we sat at least was just bare beige walls. I m still giving 5 stars because I ll be back soon. I haven t stopped thinking about my food it was so good.

The outside of the restaurant is deceiving - it is actually quite trendy inside! The sushi and hibachi were both delicious. The service was great. We will definitely be back.

Always a top tier, high quality experience whether I dine in or get take out. I discovered this place mainly because they had an endless maki roll special. Ive definitely balled out here once spending triple digits in specialty sushi and cocktails and it was incredible. The sushi is always so fresh and flavorful! I love the sweet potato tempura roll with eel sauce. Tell me how I got take out tonight and my miso soup was still piping hot even after I took my time attending to a couple chores. After a few let downs from other places, I definitely noticed the difference. Theres always tofu pieces and seaweed unlike other places that serve plain broth or a skimped amount! A good miso soup is important, its simple yet iconic. Some places just arent even in the same ball park as Level. This place never disappoints, from the staff that are always kind and attentive, to the food, the atmosphere, this is definitely my favorite sushi spot in RVA.

I wait for 50 minutes then they come and said for 15 more the way they told me when I arrived there and they are very rude

Terrible food with worse service. The cheaper, more basic rolls have ground fish that seems like it has some sort of filler in it. Its gritty and chewy. The soup and salad came out after 30 minutes of sitting with nothing, the appetizers came out with the food, and they forgot my friends dish. Will never be back. Very disappointing for a town with such great food.

The food here is amazing and the staff is always very pleasant. If you re a fan of sushi, this place should be on your list; fresh, flavorful sushi that tastes even better than it looks (and the presentation is fabulous). There s also plenty on the menu if you re not into seafood and the bar & dessert alone would be worth a visit.

This place is the best for sushi and other foods. I LOVE the lamb chops appetizer, they have the tastiest miso soup Ive ever had, and there is nothing weve ordered here that we didnt like. Try it, youll love it!

Excellent atmosphere and great lighting, the soothing background music and light up touch bar are really great as well! Staff is friendly and from the appetizers to the main entrees, food is of top notch quality. My only word of caution is to be mindful of specialty sushi roll prices, because two of them alone will have you catapulting into luxury dinner prices before you know it, and it may not be enough to fill you up at all. Other than that, cocktails and dinner options were all priced pretty fairly.

The service was slow and grouchy, but they were clearly short a server. I frequent sushi restaurant and the specialty rolls were disappointingly small for the price. Would go back, but would order more than just sushi

Waiter was great and friendly answered all my questions. Very quick service didnt wait long at all on my dinner.Food was delicious.The restaurant was very clean and everything seamed very organized and safe as far as covid 19 goes.

Would recommend. Food was great, drinks were prompt and refilled promptly but not annoyingly hovering. Sake was great, place was rushed and the servers handled themselves very professionally.

Levels crab wantons are the best in Virginia and their Moscow Mule has incredibly fresh ginger element. Mind blowing combo!

Looks very unassuming from the outside but dont let the outward appearance keep you away. The inside looks great and the food was amazing, Im not personally a sushi person but the lo mein and dumplings will keep me coming back.

Loved the ambiance I m always judgmental of my sushi and Asian food cuisine what have you the food was delicious and I will be going again the presentation was amazing and the fried sweet honey chicken is delicious a good way to judge in my opinion loved it thanks

Food was good. There was a pretty significant wait for food but everyone is understaffed so thats understandable however I didnt give 5 stars because our server was very transactional and in fact a bit short. All in all this is a solid sushi spot. The bar is cool!!

I got the gyoza and two basic rolls. The gyoza was really great and so was the spicy yellowfish roll. Sadly the Alaskan roll was just ok and thats generally one of my favorites. The staff was nice and the light up bar was cool.

Some of the absolute best seafood I have ever had. I got the seafood basket yesterday and I will be having it again for dinner. You should go here, also great date environment

Waitress was on point. Fijiapple cheese wonton are amazing. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is relaxing during the day.

decent happy hour deals. I got the edamame and gyoza which both seemed like they come in frozen and are reheated in a microwave before serving. sushi (spicy tuna and a special roll) was okay, not bad but not great. service was great, and very attentive.

EDIT: Response to Level: TLDR: Level asks GH and UE drivers to wait a long period of time to receive YOUR order from the back where we can smell the dumpster. - Everything you examined in your response are lame duck excuses. You are the only restaurant in town that requires back door receiving and 25ft is the closest we have to take a customers food by a dumpster. Also, dont blame GH and UE for problems that you created. When I receive my negative reviews for my job performance from delivering from this restaurant, no one cares that youre a man down. And frankly if youre asking the community to spend their hard earned money on your product, they deserve the best product you can provide. Which you have made excuses for why you cant provide and expect some kind of sympathy?.. For poorly running a business? At the end of the day facts are facts are facts. And the fact of the matter is that your employees blindly say 10 minutes out the back door of restaurant to kind of acknowledge the drivers existence. Then we have to wait for your overwhelmed staff to prepare our customers meal outside by a dumpster (and you expect us to wait more than 10 minutes because thats hOw lOnG iT tAKeS tO mAkE tHe fOoD). I love Level. I miss seeing Fred play there on Thursdays before seeing Rodger play across the street. But this... this is unacceptable. Do better, Level. - OP: I made 2 deliveries from this restaurant yesterday. Both orders took 10 minutes to complete. Which is crazy. So today when I accepted the order, after the 2 orders yesterday, I knew it was going to take the restaurant 10 minutes to make the meal, correct? WRONG! After taking 10 minutes to t my dinner after I accepted the order, the woman came up and said it would take another 10 minutes to make the food. 20 minutes on Sushi rolls?! Are you serious? Can t recommend against this place enough between asking drivers to pick up the food in the back by the trash and asking us to wait 10-20 minutes on the food FOR SUSHI ROLLS!

I guess a server quit with no notice so the staff were all a bit disorganized which is understandable. The sushi though was extremely underwhelming and the main reason I am giving this place 3 stars. I thought it was overpriced for the quality and quantity of the fish. I got the maki dinner combo which just had ground up fish instead of actual slices. Extremely disappointing. My fiance got the Godzilla roll and I think a California roll? Again, fish quality was very disappointing for the price of these rolls.

Great Asian cuisine place snuggled in the Museum district! Right off W Broad street, east access with some great service. Food was amazing! Would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner!

Our family spent nearly $100 on food to go at this place. No exaggeration they messed up and got wrong 80% of the order. I m convinced the restaurant did not even read what we ordered and threw a bunch of random things into a bag that they didn t want to waste. They messed up three out of four sushi rolls, they were not even complicated rolls! They missed all of our sauces that we ordered so we had to eat our food dry and nearly flavorless. It was a complete disaster and I don t plan on spending any of my money here again. I m positive that if our family had sat down inside of the restaurant they wouldn t of messed our order up because we would ve been able to send it back. But a lot of the times they simply don t pay attention or don t care when you take food to go because you re already gone once you open it up. I m PAYING for the restaurant to properly read the order and serve the food to me. Terrible!

The service was the star of the show at our dinner. We didnt realize they closed at 20 minutes when walking in but they were still happy to serve us. We ordered the lamb lollipops which were absolutely delicious. Perfectly grilled and covered in a rich sauce. We ordered 3 different rolls and requested no avocado because one of us was allgeric. They accidentally gave us different rolls and we decided to just eat those because they were closing up already. Turns out they gave us a different tables roll by mistake and gave us the rolls we ordered anyways and only charged us for what we originally ordered. Really nice and kind of them. Sushi was decent but the service was aboslutely stellar even right before closing.
