Restaurant Rétro 50 in Rimouski

A very pleasant place with excellent cuisine. We enjoyed it and it will now be a must during our next descents in Rimouski.

Restaurant with original decoration and atmosphere, reproducing the 1950s. Good food, unpretentious and prices adjusted to the current cost of living.

There was a wait of over an hour from ordering to serving, even though there were only three other tables occupied. That doesnt work at all. The service was visibly overwhelmed or listless, as there were only two hours left until the end of the day. The cleanliness in the restaurant also left a lot to be desired. When we arrived there was leftover food under the next table. The French Fries on the way to the toilet were expedited under the table by the staff with their feet. When we left just before closing, the remains were still scattered around the restaurant. Since we were just passing through on vacation, we will not visit this restaurant again.

In terms of service, it was just poor, nothing more. In terms of food, the portions could have been larger considering the price we paid for! In terms of decor, it was indeed a pretty place like in the old days.

Beautiful decor, good music respecting the theme, the meal made from defrosted or pre-weighed packaging to be faster due to lack of staff. A waitress, a chef at 5:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. But the waitress is very efficient and does not want an unsatisfied customer.

Very bad experience after waiting 1h30 because we lost our order according to the waiter who supposedly recommended our plate after a considerable time, went to the kitchen to try to get us in line. And in the finals the cooks didnt want to know anything, so. I wasnt going to wait 30 minutes more, I just cant believe this impossible situation, I think the manager should have intervened but no one ever came to talk to us, I dont blame the waiter, only he There is a blatant lack of organization in this restaurant, which is why I only give it one star.

We were passing through, following advertisements we decided to have dinner there one Saturday evening, my wife and I. My wife ordered a pizza. She saw the waiter deliver a pixxa to the next table and he told her it was the wrong one. So this pizza went back under the serving pass and stayed there for 15 minutes before waiting on our table. The waiter said it was a little bigger but there would be no extra charge. So she received a cold pizza and the dough was half cooked. I ordered spaghetti. Spaghetti drown in sauce and it comes with 2 half bagettes of garlic bread but they are placed (they float) in the sauce so it makes loaves of bread

Top lunch! Our waitress was pleasant and very friendly. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Lunch was very good and well served. (No photos unfortunately) We will come back for sure!

I was there for dinner on June 23, 2024 after a long day of driving in the rain. I dreamed of arriving in Rimouski to eat cipaille. I just had my worst dining experience ever. Simply not edible or almost. A little meat floating in a sauce/broth that was too salty with a lot of cubed potatoes and to top it all off, what was supposed to be the best was the worst, a piece of dough so hard that it wasnt even guilty with it. a serrated steak knife. I forgot the beets which usually accompany this dish so well, they were cut as small as small weights in an ultra small plastic container. The young girl who served us was super nice though and she gave us a $9.10 discount on the bill. You could tell she was unhappy with the situation. She was not penalized for her tip but I would have preferred to eat well than to have a discount. It was the same for my wife with the addition of a non-drinkable red sangria. Last time at hue you see me.

Retro lasagna at $24, smaller than a child s portion! Restaurateurs, its a shame to see that you continue to reduce your costs and quality at the expense of your customers... I was visiting the area and found this restaurant on Google. Me and my children were very satisfied. It was very good and very large portion. Additionally, the service was great and the plates arrived quickly. I recommend :)

The lunchtime beefsteak is overcooked and blackened hard, otherwise the fries are generally good. The lunch pizza on todays menu had a strange taste, not appetizing even if the rest was OK. The service is generally good. The staff is courteous.

Edit 2024-Fast service. On the other hand, the prices are still quite high for the final result. Poutine, sauce no taste very disappointed cold sauce and poorly brewed. There were 4 of us eating poutine and everyone was of the same opinion. The hamburger was okay.

I am in Rimouski for work 3 times a year. I ALWAYS eat at Retro50 and visit my friend Pat who is the owner. Delicious food and the best people.

I ordered the smoke meat sandwich and it was terrible. The meat was ham and there was not enough mustard so it was so dry. They gave me barely any coleslaw... for 18$ thats just cheap.

-My napkin was dirty -My poutine was microscopic -The sausages were thin thin thin -My napkin was dirty -The next table had cold, sticky food -Again, my napkin was dirty.

I loved the dish I had; it was good, it was hot and it was very crispy (I had the fish & chips). The only two things I liked less were the cleanliness of the dishes and the transparent dividers between the benches. Otherwise, the quality of the cuisine is really there I recommend 200%!

Very charming place. A beautiful menu designed to suit all tastes. Beautiful, Beautiful decoration. Clean, nice plates. Beautiful and good services. The owner, who is 80 years old, comes to see the customers at the table and makes them laugh.... Much sympathy. I recommend everyone to go there at least once, the detour is worth it.

Pour le brunch du dimanche, les tables sont trop coincées, à revoir la configuration des tables. Le dossier de la chaise de la table voisine était acoté sur notre table. Trop de table pour lespace. Le brunch manquait de nourriture, cétait froid et ordinaire. Le dimanche ne devrait pas y avoir des déjeuners à la carte, seulement le brunch.

During our road trip from Montreal to Prance Edaward Ayland, we decided to try Retro 50 restaurant. Unfortunately, it turned out to be our worst food experience among all the restaurants we visited. We ordered a pizza and a trio burger as our main courses, but both dishes failed to meet even the most basic standards of taste and quality. Lets start with the pizza. To our dismay, it arrived at our table with a cold top layer. The cheese had solidified, which was quite off-putting. Surprisingly, the crust underneath was hot, creating an odd contrast. The inner crust was disappointingly soft and soggy, as if the toppings had made it wet. The overall texture and flavor of the pizza left much to be desired, and it did not meet our expectations. Moving on to the trio burger, we were met with further disappointment. The meat in the burger was of extremely poor quality. It tasted as if it were made from the cheapest ground meat available, with only a day left before expiration. The flavor was unpleasant, lacking any seasoning or distinctive taste. Regrettably, consuming the burger left us feeling unwell, and we even experienced headaches afterward. It felt as if the ingredients were poorly handled or possibly expired. Considering the disappointing quality of both the pizza and the burger, our experience at Retro 50 was far from satisfactory. The lackluster pizza, with its temperature inconsistencies and watery crust, along with the poorly flavored and seemingly questionable meat in the burger, left us regretting our choice of restaurant. Given our experience, it is difficult to recommend Retro 50 to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. The restaurants food quality, taste, and overall attention to hygiene were below par. I sincerely hope that the management takes immediate steps to address these issues and improve the dining experience for future customers

Chicken pouting and smoked meat club were delicious. Coleslaw was one of the best Ive ever eaten.

Nice place with a 50s feel: the decoration, the menu, the atmosphere, everything is there! The jukebox is functional at the entrance (although it sometimes has whims). The portions are more than generous.

Most restaurants neglect coleslaw but not at Retro 50. Its definitely worth the detour!!! A passing restaurant that our little family LOVED!! Atmosphere, interior decoration, music (Jukebox at our service)! Wow!! Thank you for existing!

A 50s style diner that serves up good produce.

Aside from being decorated and looking like a diner from the 50s, weve waited nearly 30 minutes after being seated for a waiter to come to our table. There was a man dressed as a cowboy performing live western/country music, which doesnt match the theme of the restaurant. The waiters were dressed in black and not like in the 50s. And still after the offkey cowboys performance, no one ever came close to our table and so we left.

Very beautiful restaurant decorated with taste. The dishes were very good and so was my cocktail. Unlike some restaurants, the rum and coke cost rum, not too diluted.

One of the worst (if not the worst) pizzas Ive eaten in my entire life!! Nothing to do with dinner pizza. Worse than a 2 for 1 or even worse than a frozen pizza. Dark can sauce, barely melted cheese, coarsely chopped ingredients and TASTELESS! Too bad because the decor is magnificent and the waitress was very nice. Anyway, $45 in the trash for a 12´´ pizza, a coke and a beer.

Came over from the UK speaking very little French, these guys made our family feel mega welcome. Amazing breakfast, served quick and kept the coffee flowing, with the best service, what more could you want. Kid-friendliness: Brought colouring books and high seats out for the children

Visit on September 2, 2023. Beautiful retro 50s decor restaurant. The reason to enter this restaurant. The waitress warned us that we didnt have a choice of meats, we should have chosen something else. For us the smoked meat was too dry, ordinary fries, coleslaw bathed in its vinaigrette and no little pickle.....:) Smoked meat without pickle is not real smoked meat, but we will go back. ...

I like the retro atmosphere. Very good at an affordable price. The gentleman at reception is very nice, he has been welcoming people for several years now, BRAVO. Lots of commotion, normal, the restaurant was full. I had lunch there, the omelette was very successful, accompanied by a generous and delicious quantity of potatoes, fruit, and 2 toasts of household bread, coffee included. $13

We went to eat unlimited fondue. The meat didnt seem fresh. My friends other orders lacked seasoning and freshness. The best things on the table were the burgers. On the other hand, the waitress was very nice.

I am relatively disappointed compared to my experience at Rétro 50. The meals are not very tasty and the portions are small. The service left something to be desired. I believe that the establishment would benefit from changing its concept as well as its logistics!
